A select few media personnel enjoyed a very special, ‘appropriately-distanced’ live performance last night by respected Australian rockers The Badloves at Wick Studios, where the band have recently been recording. In a hit-laden set of over an hour and a half, The Badloves also showcased two new songs, Tribal and Midnight Sun, which are due for release later in 2020. A live album, recorded at Festival Hall a few weeks ago is also coming out later this year on vinyl, plus a an album of new material will surface in 2021.
The new look Badloves was in fine form featuring Michael Spiby (vocals, guitar), Jeff Consi (drums), Tony Featherstone (Hammond), Kit Riley (bass), James Ryan (guitar), with Susie Ahern on backing vox. Vocal powerhouse Jimmy Cupples also joined the band for a vibrant version of The Band’s classic ’The Weight’, which was a hit for The Badloves and Jimmy Barnes in the early 90s. Cupples and guitarist James Ryan have recently formed a new duo called King Canyon. Anyone who saw our Iso Melbourne Guitar Show on Make Music Day would have seen that dynamic duo in action.
Our ace photographer Jason Rosewarne was thrilled to finally be able to breakout of lockdown and head to Wick Studios last night to capture all of The Badloves live action and as you can see, Jase has lost none of his lens magic!
