WATCH: MATON ANNOUNCES 75TH ANNIVERSARY DIAMOND EDITION GUITAR

To celebrate 75 years of continuous guitar production in Melbourne, Australia Maton has decided to produce a guitar that showcased the best design and construction that they could bring to a guitar, as well as to celebrate the tonewoods they love and cherish.

In recent times, Maton has produced a number of beautiful instruments to mark milestone occasions. Most recently, there was the Vera May centenary model last year to celebrate the 100th birthday of Maton matriarch Vera May, wife of Maton founder Bill May. In 2016, Maton gave us a gorgeous 70th anniversary Edition Dreadnought.

This year Maton presents the traditional shaped 75th Anniversary Diamond Edition guitar, featuring blackwood back and sides, figured Queensland maple neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, with sitka spruce face. The headstock features a distinctive diamond pearl decal.

We spoke to the 75th Anniversary Diamond Edition guitar designer, Patrick Evans (Manager of Projects, Product Development & R&D at Maton Guitars) about the guitar’s creation with comments from Andy Allen (Maton Custom Shop) and Atsu Omori (Maton Paint Shop).
