WATCH / BEC LAUGHTON ‘NUMBER 1 (HEARTBREAK)’

Brisbane indie soul songstress Bec Laughton has been stopping audiences dead in their tracks ever since they heard her perfect pairing of infectious pop melodies backed by her powerhouse vocals. Her brand new EP M & R solidifies Laughton as an artist with amazing versatility. This may be a result of her sublime taste in collaborators which has seen her team up with producer Graham Ritchie (Emma Louise, Big Scary, Skinny Jean) for the two previously released singles, as well as some of the most exciting names in Australian dance music. M & R features the unstoppable singles ‘Gonna Love You’ and ‘Number 1 (Heartbreak)’ with an additional four unheard tracks and remixes courtesy of YesYou & Tyler Touché.

Having traipsed around the country and roused many a full house on her own headline tour, the recent developments are leading to a huge next step. She recently snared a coveted grant from the Lord Mayor’s Young & Emerging Artists Fellowship which will see her work in the States with Grammy-award winning bassist, composer and producer Michael League of New York-based Snarky Puppy.

Bec’s recent teaming with 123 Agency has also proved frutiful as they secure slots on the lineups for both Soulfest in Brisbane – alongside idols such as D’Angelo and Maxwell –  and Peregian Originals with the likes of Sticky Fingers, Kingswood and Bonjah.

Australian Musician is pleased to profile Bec Laughton’s video for the single ‘Number 1 (Heartbreak).
