Following on from our recent interview with Melbourne-based singer, songwriter Peter Freebairn, we headed down to Wesley Anne in Northcote on a brisk Autumn Saturday afternoon for Peter’s ‘Silhouettes & Cigarettes’ album launch.
After a short, entertaining set from Pop Preservation Society label head Victor Stranges, Peter and band took to the stage to perform his new songs live. Featuring Lisa Mio on bass and Jo George on keys (both from Linda Ronstadt covers band Wild Dreamers), as well as Paul Boyle on drums, the band brought the album tracks to life with an infectious energy. Previous singles I Got Lucky (I Got You) and Crazy Love went down particularly well with the audience of friends, family and fans, as did the ballad Home Town, a track dedicated to the city of Melbourne. Look out for Peter Freebairn playing more gigs around town soon and check out his album ‘Silhouettes & Cigarettes’ on Bandcamp
