PSEUDO ECHO ADD MORE TOUR DATES IN CELEBRATION OF LOVE AN ADVENTURE’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY

They’re back!  Due to high demand, and the success of their previous tour run, iconic Australian band Pseudo Echo are extending their national tour to include regional shows.  Fans can relive the songs and sounds that defined an era, with new shows kicking off on 5th September on the Sunshine Coast.

The ‘Love An Adventure’ album saw the band gain world-wide success and a global fan base spanning Australia, USA, Canada, Europe and Asia, spending more than six months on the US Billboard charts! The album, packed with hits including ‘Don’t Go’, ‘Love An Adventure’, ‘Living In A Dream’ and the blockbuster ‘Funky Town’ spent seven weeks at No. 1 in Australia, six weeks at No. 1 in New Zealand, topped the charts in Canada, and hit the Top 10 in the US, UK, Sweden and South Africa.

To coincide with the 40th Anniversary, the band released a brand-new remix of ‘Love An Adventure’ … a dark rock remix from the forthcoming “Machine Remixes” album, slated for release late 2025.  Produced by lead singer, Brian Canham, who explains, “We incorporated elements of techno and industrial as well as the featured dark low-tuned guitar… in contrast to the original which had no guitar. There is a homage to the original version, incorporating the disco style string stabs originally recorded using the MSO.”

Mac DeMarco Announces New Album, Guitar, out August 22nd on Mac’s Record Label

Single Out Now via Mac’s Record Label  Listen now  Pre-Save / Pre-Order Album

Mac DeMarco announces his new album, Guitar, will be released August 22nd via Mac’s Record Label and unveils the lead single/video, ‘Home’. He also announces 2026 touring, including a February/early March run in Asia, including Japan and Hong Kong, and an extensive May tour of the Southeastern, Southwestern and Midwest parts of the United States. Supporting Mac on tour are exclusively artists on Mac’s Record Label: Mock Media, Tex Crick, Daryl Johns and Vicky Farewell. All new shows are on sale this Friday, June 27th @ 12pm EST / 28th Saturday @ 2am AEST.

Guitar was written and recorded in its entirety in November 2024 at Mac’s home in Los Angeles. Except for the mastering, which was handled by David Ives, Mac created and handled all aspects of this record on his own, including mixing the album in Canada, and shooting the music videos and album artwork on tripods. Mac comments, “I think Guitar is as close to a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper. I’m happy to share this music, and look forward to playing these songs as many places as I’m able.”

Mac describes today’s single, ‘Home’ as “a song I wrote at my home in Los Angeles about what home means to me.” He sings: “These days I’d much rather be on my own // No more walking those streets //That I once called my home // Because down every lane there are // Faces and names // That have memories attached // That I’d sooner let go // Sooner than I’d go home again.” Mac shot the song’s accompanying video while canoeing near his mom’s new home in Canada.

Guitar follows 2023’s instrumental album, Five Easy Hot Dogs, recorded in various locations from Los Angeles to New York City, and the 199-track One Wayne G.

As previously announced, Mac’s entirely sold out 2025 tour of North America, Europe and the UK begins late August with three sold out shows at The Greek Theatre. Additional stops include multiple nights at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, plus Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia, The Lyric in Baltimore, Paramount Theatre in Seattle, and beyond.

ABBY WALLACE ‘Atlantic Blue (Single/Video)

Tasmanian indie-pop artist Abby Wallace has returned with her stunning new single, ‘Atlantic Blue’. This next chapter in Abby’s story is a cinematic, salt-drenched slow burn; a meditation on intimacy, self-perception, and the contradictions that sit at the heart of desire.

Throughout sweeping verses and a chorus that distends like a deep breath, she unpacks the dissonance of craving closeness while fearing its consequences. Anchored by warmly shimmering production, classic folk sensibilities, and a vocal performance that balances quiet vulnerability with clarity and control, the track unfolds gently, like a confession whispered underwater.

“‘Atlantic Blue’ is about plunging into the ocean.” says Abby of the track. “The verses chronicle an internal chaos–an unrelenting internal dialogue about my relationship to intimacy, the complexity of yearning for a thing (in this case connection) while simultaneously being completely averse to it. The chorus is about finding peace–breaking the surface and landing on a moment of reprieve. This centrepoint of the song speaks to my enduring relationship with the ocean as a place of safety and reprieve. A felt sense of relief. How the welcome, wet weight of leaving one world and slipping into another is something I have returned to again and again, since childhood.”

Produced by the acclaimed John Castle (Angie McMahon, Vance Joy), Abby draws both sonic and lyrical inspiration from the likes of Samia, Maggie Rogers, and Tori Amos. She walks a tightrope between fragility and fearlessness, knitting raw introspection with warm, expansive production. There’s a vividly nostalgic edge to her sound in the way she harnesses a yearning romanticism, but tempered with a sharp, lived-in lyricism.

Following up her debut single ‘Big Feet, Bigger Shoes,’ Abby Wallace is slowly but surely carving out a space for herself in the Australian music scene, receiving widespread early praise as well as key recognition from triple j Unearthed. ‘Atlantic Blue’ signals the next utterly captivating artistic phase for Abby Wallace, one which firmly cements her as one of the most compelling new voices in Australian indie-pop today.

MILLY STRANGE RELEASES NEW SINGLE & BAND FAVOURITE ‘THE LAST TIME’ FROM FORTHCOMING SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM OUT FRIDAY, AUG 8 + ANNOUNCES HEADLINE SHOW IN MELBOURNE

Milly Strange reveals new single, band and crowd favourite, ‘The Last Time’, taken from her forthcoming self-titled debut album out August 8. Today she also announces a headline show at Northcote Social Club in Naarm on Thursday the 18th of September.

Following previous singles, ‘Ghost’ and the nostalgic alt-rock track ‘Horses’, ‘The Last Time’ further showcases Milly Strange’s ability to write intimate and raw songs that cut close to the bone, continuing her deep exploration of grief. Milly describes the song as being about “a relationship that had ended, for the millionth time, old deep friendships that had crashed and burned. Grief never really leaves, you get used to carrying it around.

“This song is a kind of mourning. For people, for moments, for versions of myself I’ve outgrown. It also acknowledges my own edges, that I can be a hard person sometimes. I struggle with conflict, with holding space for the heavy stuff. But this is a song about all of it. Everything sad.”

Raised on a rich sonic diet of Johnny Cash, David Bowie, Tom Waits, and Martha Wainwright, Milly’s early influences evolved into a deep reverence for songwriters like PJ Harvey, Angel Olsen, Ora Cogan, Cat Power, Adrianne Lenker, and Sharon Van Etten. Her music thrives on contrasts – light and dark, past and present, beauty and unease, as powerfully demonstrated on her debut album.

Out August 8, Milly Strange, comprises eight songs, some old, some new, and some somewhere in between. The album reveals its tensions in full, weaving sharp emotional honesty with vivid imagery and tender moments of introspection. “Writing these songs felt psychologically and emotionally necessary,” says Milly. “Each one helped me give form to a part of myself I wasn’t ready to confront in real life.”

Recorded in Naarm with her band, Jai Forster-Saunders (guitar), Keely Lawson (bass & backing vocals), Alek Vult (guitar), and Sam Kirkpatrick (drums), the project marks a significant milestone for Milly, who reflects, “It feels very special to finally share these songs. Together, they track a journey through grief and growth, a process I’ve only come to fully understand after finishing the album in 2025.

“I feel like I can finally move forward from a lot of the trauma these songs helped me work through. As a band, we’re so excited to share what our next step will look like, with this first album as the foundation for everything that’s to come.”

Having already carved out a place in Melbourne’s underground, Milly has performed alongside artists like The Slingers, Peter Bibby, Caitlin Harnett & the Pony Boys, and Queenie. She has sold out shows of her own and will perform at Town Folk Festival this November alongside Sharron Van Etten.  Tickets for the Northcote Social Club show on Thursday, 18 September, are on sale now.

WET LEG REVEAL THIRD TRACK FROM UPCOMING ALBUM moisturizer OUT 11 JULY

Wet Leg reveal the third song from their anticipated second album moisturizer – due July 11th. Entitled ‘davina mccall’, it’s a soft, lovelorn ballad that takes a cheeky premise – Big Brother and Shakira – and coats it in a sense of earnestness that’s new for Wet Leg; it’s a song about pure, unadulterated devotion.

The video for ‘davina mccall’ is directed by Chris Hopewell and is a charming stop-motion animation, where we meet the band as clay figures cruising along in search of a feather-stealing goblin, while calling back to the ‘CPR’ video and their family portrait.

‘davina mccall’ is also a great showcase of the band’s new way of collaborating: Hester Chambers began the song and teased it out with Ellis Durand; Rhian Teasdale wrote the lyrics and melody, a process that felt a little like solving a mystery. “Ellis and I were on the edge of our seats, being like, ‘We’re gonna get this, we’re completing the puzzle,” says Chambers.

Wet Leg performed previous singles ‘CPR’ and ‘catch these fists’ on Later with Jools Holland earlier this month. Watch HERE. The band play Glastonbury Festival this weekend.

Wet Leg are Rhian Teasdale, Hester Chambers, Ellis Durand (bass), Henry Holmes (drums), and Joshua Mobaraki (guitar, synth).

moisturizer is available to pre-order on limited edition 3D gatefold cream coloured vinyl w/ signed photo, picture disc vinyl, standard vinyl, cassette, CD and digitally.

ESTELLE CONLEY ‘IN TIME WITH YOU’ (Single)

In Time With You is an indie-folk track that explores the bittersweet space between love and letting go. It was produced in Melbourne by the wonderful Rowena Wise and features warm harmonies, acoustic textures, and a whole lot of heart.

Let yourself be whisked away by the enchanting sounds of Estelle Conley, a dreamy folk singer/songwriter hailing from Narrm/Melbourne. With her heartfelt brand of songwriting and magnetic indie-folk melodies, Estelle’s music will tug at the truth in your heart.

Drawing inspiration from the storytelling prowess of ’60s and ’70s folk legends, Estelle is a keen wordsmith. Her work delves into themes of love, friendship, and yearning, with her sound most fittingly described as indie folk with a touch of country.

As Triple J’s Nkechi Anele put it perfectly: “The music so delicately holds your hand as you travel on a journey through hurt and sadness to the other side.”

Estelle has graced stages across Australia, including at Bondi Festival, Carriageworks, Lazy Bones Lounge, Folkswagon @ Café Lounge, For Folks Sake @ 107 Projects, The Toff, The Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar, Wesley Anne, Shotkickers and more.

She’s also had the pleasure of performing alongside and supporting folk artists such as Julia Johnson, Kay Proudlove, Lady Lyon, Quinny, Heather Fiona, Naomi Diane, Sasha March, Burning Grace, Well Into Winter, and Leroy Lee.

In 2025, Estelle is gearing up to release her next EP, in collaboration with Naarm/Melbourne-based artist and producer Rowena Wise.

Her music is the perfect remedy for even the most savage of beasts—like yoga for the ears.

BIG DELICIOUS ‘DRY JULY’ (Single)

That line about how the things that don’t kill us make us stronger? Turns out it’s rubbish. Recent University of Melbourne research shows repeated natural disasters are driving the mental health crisis in rural Australia. You might bounce back from a bushfire—but not if it follows a flood, pandemic or drought. Those earlier hits don’t toughen you up; they wear you down. Anyway, here’s a song about The Big Dry, and how it’s enough to drive a man to drink. May appeal to fans of Bobby Bare, Hayes Carll, John Prine and The Pink Stones.

About the Artist
“Dry July” is Big Delicious’s first single release from their upcoming debut album “Here’s Trouble”.

Big Delicious is too many people on not enough stage. It is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, songwriter – but not, crucially, singer – John Palmer. He wanted to write smart, 60s and 70s-style Nashville songs and realised he knew so many people who could sing them far better than he ever could.

“I’m greedy. I never met a kitchen sink I didn’t want to throw in. So I decided to drag a rotating cast of vocalists into this project and exploit their talents to the maximum. Last time I checked there were nine of us. Or ten.”

Featuring a ragtag team of musicians and singers from Melbourne’s best-loved bands (Klinger, Sophie Koh, Slow Fades, The Glorious North, Michael Meeking and the Lost Souls, Georgia Fields, Cheezelkane and more), the band serves up a hearty stew of all your musical comfort foods: high-lonesome pedal steel, honky tonk piano, old-timey fiddle and the kind of guitar solos that make you want to do burn-outs in a Holden Torana… all on a tasty bed of Wilco-esque indie-rock.

So is it a supergroup? Community support initiative? Massive scheduling nightmare?  Who could say. All we know is… It’s big. And it’s delicious.

About BEYOND THE BLACK:
German symphonic metal band BEYOND THE BLACK have become one of the most exciting forces in modern symphonic metal, carving an impressive path since their formation. It started with their debut album in 2015: Songs Of Love And Death was an instant success and stayed strong in the German Top15 for weeks, earning the Metal Hammer Award for “Best Debut.” Its successor Lost In Forever (2016) entered the German charts at #4 and paved the way for a major tour through Germany, the UK, Russia and Japan. Since their live debut in 2014, the band has played the world’s biggest metal festivals like Wacken Open Air and supported international metal acts such as AEROSMITH, KORN, SCORPIONS, SAXON, and WITHIN TEMPTATION.

With the release of their third album Heart Of The Hurricane, BEYOND THE BLACK launched their first European headline tour in fall 2019 – over 20 shows in 10 countries, most of them sold out. The band returned to the studio soon after and in June 2020 released the highly anticipated Horizons, which entered the German album charts at #3 (CH #6, AT #16, BE #53).

After the pandemic-induced break, BEYOND THE BLACK came back stronger than ever: Following a successful European tour in fall 2022, their self-titled fifth album BEYOND THE BLACK dropped in January 2023, charting in several countries (DE #2, UK #2 Rock, CH #6, AT #12, SE #12, US #7 Top New Artist) and marking a new career high.

Following a powerful festival summer, the band toured Australia and New Zealand for the first time in late 2023, as special guests of Swedish metal act THE HALO EFFECT. In early 2024, BEYOND THE BLACK played their most successful European headline tour to date – Dancing In The Dark – followed by more celebrated shows across the continent that summer.

In early 2025, the band reached another milestone with their first-ever Latin America tour, playing headline shows in Argentina, Chile and Mexico, as well as performing at Brazil’s renowned Bangers Open Air. In summer 2025, they will once again take the stage at Europe’s most prestigious festivals, including Wacken Open Air, Hellfest and Graspop.

MALEVOLENCE Release Music Video For New Single ‘So Help Me God’ +
New Album WHERE ONLY THE TRUTH IS SPOKEN Out Now

Fresh from their secret set at last weekend’s DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL, Steel City Kings MALEVOLENCE have released a new single from their massively anticipated new album, ‘Where Only The Truth Is Spoken’, which is out today via MLVLTD in partnership with Nuclear Blast Records.

The video comes in response to a takedown of their previous single ‘Salt The Wound’, which was forcibly removed from Nuclear Blast’s YouTube channel after The National Trust threatened legal action.

“Apparently pretending to play the guitar for a couple of hours on a public path that thousands of tourists walk up every single day is a criminal offence worth pursuing,” said the band in a statement.

“The video is a celebration of where we come from and we’re proud of what we made. Fortunately… Someone has anonymously uploaded a version back to YouTube” they continued.

New single ‘So Help Me God’ sees the band safely performing within the walls of the historic Abbeydale Picture House cinema in Sheffield.

“This song is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written. This song is a raw exploration of my own resentment, and unresolved anger” comments frontman ALEX TAYLOR.

“For the video, we wanted to match the tone of the song and have a raw performance driven video full of energy and aggression.”

The band surprised revellers at DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL on Sunday, after days of speculation around this year’s secret act. During a stunning set in a packed out AVALANCHE stage, guitarist Konan Hall unveiled his brand new guitar – a one of a kind collaboration between Jackson® Guitars and Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft® (more details below)

About Jackson x Malevolence x World of Warcraft collab: Jackson® Guitars and Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft® unveiled a one-of-a-kind collaboration with Konan Hall, guitarist of UK metal titans Malevolence and WoW fan live on stage at Download Festival, 2025.

Malevolence took centre stage for the Secret Set on Avalanche Stage on Sunday afternoon at 2.50pm, where Kon donned a custom Jackson Pro Plus XT Limited Edition Kelly™ KE HT6 Baritone guitar, inspired by Kon’s in-game character —a Dwarf Paladin, named Thraiin. Crafted with meticulous detail and true to the spirit of Azeroth, the guitar merges Jackson’s iconic metal craftsmanship with the rich lore of World of Warcraft. Designed in close collaboration with Kon and World of Warcraft’s creative team, the body features bespoke artwork of Thraiin and the legendary “W” emblem, while the headstock boasts the Jackson logo and the background is inspired by the lands of Azeroth. Additionally, on the back of the guitar sits an Easter egg, inspired by Kon’s favourite weapon type in game, The Battle Axe.

The Pro Plus XT Limited Edition Kelly KE HT6 Baritone model is an extension of the Pro Plus Series. Features include Nyatoh body with three-piece Maple thru-neck construction and graphite reinforced for superior stability, six-string baritone 27”-scale, 12”-16” compound radius ebony fingerboard with cloaked Sharkfins, 24 stainless steel frets, Luminlay side-dots, Seymour Duncan Nazgul and Sentient pickups combine for full-throated power that ranges from great overdrive sustain, distinctive fat and chunky rhythms to smooth lead tones that pack a muscular growl and slice through the densest mix.

“World of Warcraft and music are two of my favourite things’’, said Kon. “Playing with the Jackson guitar on stage will remind me of the hours I spent in the taverns of Azeroth.”

The guitar will make various appearances throughout the year at Malevolence shows.

ABOUT MALEVOLENCE
MALEVOLENCE have never waited for permission. From the underground to festival main stages, they’ve built their reputation on sheer force of will, crushing live shows, and an unshakable foundation of heavy riffs and harder work. Now, with their fourth studio album Where Only The Truth Is Spoken, Sheffield’s finest step into a new league.

Recorded in California at Dave Grohl’s legendary Studio 606, the album was tracked through the iconic Neve 8078 console, the same desk that captured game-changing records like Nirvana’s Nevermind, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, and Tom Petty’s Wildflowers. For a band that’s always pushed forward without compromise, it was the perfect setting to carve out a record that represents everything MALEVOLENCE stands for. The album marks a new level of songwriting precision without sacrificing the band’s trademark weight. Working alongside Grammy Award-winning producer Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Gojira, Trivium), the result is MALEVOLENCE at their most punishing, urgent, and anthemic.

Lyrically, Where Only The Truth Is Spoken reflects the principles that MALEVOLENCE have lived by since day one—honesty, loyalty, and integrity. These are not just themes woven into the album but values the band holds in their personal and professional lives. This record doesn’t deal in facades or empty gestures; it’s an unfiltered expression of the struggles, victories, and unshakable brotherhood that have carried them this far.

DARCIE HAVEN DROPS EXPLOSIVE NEW SINGLE DOOMSDAY

Australia’s rising indie-pop antihero Darcie Haven returns with Doomsday, a dramatic, diaristic heartbreak anthem that captures the chaos of young love with brutal honesty and tongue-in-cheek flair. The single sees Haven sharpening her trademark blend of raw lyricism and grungy pop production into something both darkly playful and devastatingly sincere.

“‘Doomsday’ is about feeling like the world is ending when a relationship doesn’t pan out the way you’d hoped. It’s a bit petty and tongue in cheek, while being deathly serious at the same time. Equating a breakup to an apocalypse is dramatic, but deeply true to the inner turmoil of short term, explosive relationships.”

Set against punchy drums, glitchy synth textures and aching vocal lines, Doomsday is classic Haven: deeply personal, sharply observational, and soaked in emotional consequence. It’s the kind of track you scream in your car, cry to at 2am, and post about on your close friends list. For Haven, it’s not just a song, it’s a release of tension, of loss, of all the “what ifs” you were never brave enough to say out loud.

This single precedes Darcie Haven’s upcoming EP, Angel of the Apocalypse, set for release on July 30, 2025. The EP is expected to expand on the emotional themes explored in Doomsday, diving deeper into love, loss, and the internal chaos that defines your early twenties.

The single arrives hot off the back of Burner Account, which premiered on triple j’s Home & Hosed and received a full rotation add on triple j. It was added to Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ, New Music Friday Denmark, All New Pop, Pop n’ Fresh, EQUAL AU & NZ and Apple Music’s New in Pop, Heartbreak Pop, New Music Daily. With over 260 radio spins across 19 stations and shutting down streets with pop-up shows and merch drops in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, Burner Account became a defining moment in Haven’s breakout year. Her previous single Hounds earned similar attention with a first play and full rotation add on triple j, a full add on Unearthed, and editorial support across Spotify including Tapestry, Hits Different, Indie Arrivals, Local Noise, Fresh Finds AU & NZ, Coast to Coast, Rarities, Open Skies and Tidal’s New Tracks – Pop, Indie – Rising.

Darcie Haven has received support from Rolling Stone, The Guardian, The Underground Stage, Australian Music Scene, Good Call Live, Naluda Magazine, Happy Mag, Women in Pop, The West Australian, Livewire, Milky, and The AU Review, and was previously named a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist. On stage, she recently opened for Holy Holy over two nights in Perth, and has toured with Vance Joy, DMAs, Alex Lahey, Great Gable and Birds of Tokyo. She’s also featured on Holy Holy’s Cellophane album (Heroes) and played festivals including SummerSalt and WA Day. With a combined 650K YouTube views and over 3 million TikTok likes, her community continues to grow, not just as fans, but as a loyal, emotionally-connected audience.

Born and raised on a farm in remote Western Australia, Darcie Haven learned to sing by playing along to Missy Higgins CDs and Taylor Swift songbooks. Her music often compared to Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone and Phoebe Bridgers feels like a journal cracked wide open. “I try to write as honestly as possible,” she says. “Not glaze over any sharp edges or cracks. I want to make music that feels like it’s been stolen straight from my journal, you know?”

With Doomsday, Darcie Haven once again proves that nobody captures the millennial-meltdown-meets-gen-Z-heartbreak era quite like she can.

MÖTLEY CRÜE  RELEASE A NEW VERSION OF “HOME SWEET HOME”  FEATURING THE ICONIC DOLLY PARTON

Rock legends Mötley Crüe have announced the release of From The Beginning, a brand-new singles collection arriving on September 12, 2025 via BMG, the same day that the legendary rockers will kick off their highly anticipated 10-show residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, NV.

From The Beginning is Mötley Crüe’s definitive compilation and traces the band’s storied career from their start on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles to their current status as global rock titans. The album includes a stunning new version of the band’s revered classic, “Home Sweet Home,” reimagined as a heartfelt duet with none other than globally beloved superstar Dolly Parton that is out everywhere now.

Bringing together two giants of American music, the new rendition of “Home Sweet Home” feat. Dolly Parton offers a powerful twist on the 1985 hit. To drive home the song’s positive message of hope, a portion of the proceeds from the single will benefit Covenant House, an organization close to the hearts of the members of Mötley Crüe. Covenant House provides safe shelter, meals, hope and more to help youth experiencing homelessness.

The members of Mötley Crüe shared in a joint statement, “‘Home Sweet Home’ was first released in 1985 as a single from our Theatre Of Pain album. For an icon like Dolly Parton to sing on a song that has not only meant so much to us but to all the fans through the years, is a career high that means a lot to us. We couldn’t be happier to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘Home Sweet Home’ in this special way, and we’re excited to share this version of the song with all the Dolly and Mötley fans around the world.”

The members add, “That we were able to unite with Dolly to raise awareness for homeless youth and the amazing work of Covenant House, which provides them safe housing and care, makes it even more special. We hope you’ll enjoy ‘Home Sweet Home’ featuring Dolly Parton as much as Dolly and we enjoyed creating it.”

Dolly Parton offered, “It was an honor and a joy working in the studio on Mötley Crüe’s 40th Anniversary re-release of ‘Home Sweet Home’. I was so pleased that they would ask me to sing on such a classic.”

CHRIS SURGEY RELEASES DEBUT SOLO EP, WICKED SEAS

Singer/songwriter Chris Surgey has released his debut solo EP, Wicked Seas, a raw, emotional journey shaped from a life marked by schizophrenia, addiction, and recovery.  Originally from Colchester, England, and raised between the UK and Australia, Surgey found salvation in songwriting from a young age—first inspired by Nirvana, then Bob Dylan.

As frontman of the indie rock trio Bright Yellow, he released two EPs, earned airplay on triple j, and signed with Sony Music Publishing before mental health challenges derailed the band’s momentum. Behind the scenes, Surgey was struggling. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, he spent years in and out of mental health facilities and eventually battled drug addiction. Music, however, never left him. “Even when I was catatonic, I could still play guitar,” he recalls.

In 2023, a major breakdown led to a 12-month hospitalisation under the Mental Health Act. With support from his family and care team, he committed to recovery and emerged with renewed focus. In 2025, with support from friend and British India producer Glenn Goldsmith, he recorded Wicked Seas at Harry Vanda’s Sydney studio, with help from engineer Daniel Vandenberg. The EP blends delicate intensity with lyrical depth, drawing comparisons to Jeff Buckley and Daniel Johnston. The title track Wicked Seas, along with the song Windows, reflects his time in hospital, while also pointing toward healing, hope, and hard-won clarity.

Now based in Melbourne, Surgey continues to write and record with his new trio, Black Crown. For Chris, music isn’t just a calling—it’s survival.

MORGAN JOANEL ‘FALLIN’ (Single)

If Stevie Nicks and Jim Morrison had a lovechild, you’d get Morgan Joanel. A bohemian Rock’n’Roll force from Australia, Morgan’s stage presence is lightning in a bottle; raw, hypnotic, and unforgettable.

The new single Fallin’ is landing just in time for her upcoming shows with The Superjesus (July 2025) and is a nod to heavy Fleetwood Mac and bluesy soul of The Rolling Stones.

She’s no stranger to the highs of a Sony record deal or the hard truths of the indie grind. But in 2021, everything shattered when she was hit by a car in a brutal hit-and-run; 13 broken bones, a brain bleed, and months in a wheelchair. Most would’ve disappeared. Morgan rose – louder, wilder, and more magnetic than ever.

Armed with loop pedals, guitars, and stomp boxes, Morgan builds every beat and haunting harmony live onstage – no backing tracks, no safety net. Whether solo or with her band, every show feels like an intimate ritual… Soulful, sensual, and electric.

She’s opened tours for international icons including Adam Lambert (Queen), Jason Derulo, Newton Faulkner, and Anne-Marie (who discovered her playing a Perth bar and brought her on tour the next night).

She’s toured nationally, played in London, worked with Grammy-nominated producer Adrian Breakspear (Gang of Youths), and kicked o shows for legends from Je Martin (The Tea Party) to Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon).

Beyond music, Morgan is a visionary creative, her fashion lines have been stocked in over 200 boutiques across Australia, including Myer, and her face has appeared on apparel in ZARA stores, worldwide. International fans have crowdfunded her art and music projects, fueling her rise as a fiercely independent artist.

Her debut EP Night Blooms earned national Triple J airplay and a spot in the International Songwriting Competition. Her latest single Devil’s in the Detail (New Version) is out now and it’s clear: this phoenix isn’t just rising, she’s on fire.

FALLOW FIELDS ’WHY CAN’T YOU JUST GIVE ME LOVE’ (Single)

It might be hard to believe, but the glamorous life of an alt-country musician doesn’t always translate to mega-bucks. This song took shape after moving into a crappy old rental house in Coburg… you know, the kind with mushrooms growing out of the carpet (is it brown carpet, or just brown dirt… who knows?!)

Danna and Rach were trying hard to give music a proper crack, starving artists in a garret style.

Meanwhile their friends’ lives were moving on, people were buying houses and cars and affording nice meals out. To be honest, the first cut of this song started out as a whinge about not having what other people had, but ended in a more meaningful place, wondering why friendship and relationships are so often defined by the gifts we give rather than the love we share.

“Why Can’t You Just Give Me Love” is Fallow Fields eighth single release from their ARIA charting debut album “Rocky Head Road”.

About Fallow Fields
Based in the misty hills of the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, Australia, Fallow Fields are a captivating husband and wife songwriting duo. Their debut album ‘Rocky Head Road’ made an impressive entrance on the ARIA charts, debuting at #2 on the Australian Country Chart, #15 on the Australian Album Chart, and #19 on the Country Chart. In their first week, it became the best-selling country album on Bandcamp, across vinyl, CD and digital formats.

Seven months since its release, the album is edging towards half-a-million streams on Spotify.

Fallow Fields’ songwriting is a raw and unfiltered portrayal of the complexities of love and life, where Danna and Rachel fearlessly lay bare their hearts for all to see. From moments of blissful joy, to heartbreaking despair, their songs capture the full spectrum of human experience with a vulnerability that is as brave as it is beautiful.

Fallow Fields’ country-tinged harmonies resonate with the depth and richness that only two decades of musical partnership can bring. With their voices finely tuned by years of shared experiences, Fallow Fields deliver harmonies that evoke the nostalgia of a bygone era.

From haunting ballads to foot-stomping anthems, the record takes the listener on a guided tour of a life well lived. Mixed by the illustrious Paul McKercher and mastered by the brilliant William Bowden, this is a release you won’t want to miss.

AUSTRALIAN ARTIST WILL K ANNOUNCES SIGNING TO SWEAT IT OUT & EASIER SAID MUSIC PUBLISHING WITH NEW SINGLE ‘DON’T WORRY’

WILL K today unveils his face-melting new single ‘Don’t Worry’ accompanied by the announcement of his signing to label Sweat It Out and Easier Said Music Publishing. Leveling up with every release, his new track hits first with an all-encompassing bass, one that embraces every inch of the room and resonates through your core. Backed up by an electric and raw vocal, WILL K’s production prowess comes to the fore as it settles perfectly in the mix. Oscillating through the breakdown, glassy synths propel the underlying vocal chops forward, building towards an ultimate release where the bass drops back in, and listeners get lost in the depths once more.

WILL K shares on his new release “‘Don’t Worry’ carries a similar mysterious type of energy to my song ‘Sun Is Dark’ — cinematic, eerie, and emotional. The haunting choir sets the tone early on, pulling the track into a darker, clubby space. I feel like it keeps that signature mood I’m known for, while still hitting hard enough to live in DJ’s sets.”

On signing to Easier Said Publishing, Dominique Keegan shares “I’m thrilled to welcome WILL K to Easier Said Publishing. As a producer of unique talent, his skill set redefines what’s possible across genres. His ability to produce incredible rhythmic music is every publisher’s dream, and I’m excited to collaborate with Will in the coming years. Even in these early days of working together, his vision and craft speaks for itself.”

WILL K’s manager Tass Diakos of pursuit of virtue concurs “Will is entering a pivotal new chapter in his career, and we couldn’t be more excited to have the support of Sweat It Out and Easier Said as we take things to the next level. Both teams understand his creative vision and bring incredible energy to the table. ‘Don’t Worry’ is just the beginning and there’s so much more to come.”

Melbourne born and bred artist WILL K started his musical journey at the tender age of 12 – a prodigious producer and DJ who’d already seen multiple releases on some of the most sought-after labels in electronic music in his early teens, he became a regular fixture alongside his idols. In 2020, collaborative track ‘Flip Reset’ with Kaskade was released via Monstercat and synched to Fortnite and Rocket League before totalling over 30 million streams. 2022 saw him release ‘Holding On’ via the Berlin based / tastemaker imprint Selected., ‘Sun Is Dark’ and a Beatport #2 collaboration ‘OoooH’ with CID on Repopulate Mars. Since then he has scored collaborations with Dillon Francis and Shift K3Y, released his debut album ‘777’ and debut single release on FISHER’s label Catch & Release ‘F*CK FAME’ in 2024.

With a catalogue that now boasts over 130 million streams, it comes as no surprise that WILL K’s releases have been played by industry heavyweights including Alesso, Axwell, Diplo, DJ Snake, Dom Dolla, FISHER, Martin Garrix, Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto and many more. No stranger to the stage himself, WILL K has played at globally renowned festivals including Tomorrowland, Creamfields and Parookaville, plus completed headline tours of Asia, the UK and Europe. Showing no signs of slowing down, WILL K’s new single ‘Don’t Worry’ is sure to bring the heat to dance floors around the globe.

Sydney pop artist HOLLY serves up a memorable debut with ‘Something Sexy’

Having spent recent years carving a formidable presence for herself as a vocalist and collaborator with a number of successful international artists, Sydney-based musician and songwriter HOLLY re-enters the music space with the first taste of her solo music project – ‘Something Sexy’.

Fittingly playful and confident, the single determines a core part of the artist’s vision as she moves further into a lane that is her own. With influences ranging from FKA twigs to Lana Del Ray; BANKS and early era-The Weeknd, Holly makes her introduction known with this song – a burst of pop music that has fun revelling in themes of passion and desire.

“Something Sexy” is a playful little secret—it’s about intimacy, freedom, and the thrill of being wanted without being owned. It’s a hide-and-seek love letter, the kind you leave behind on a pillow or whisper in the dark.” – HOLLY

Produced in Sydney with Liam Quinn, ‘Something Sexy’ was a track that came together easily for Holly, as she was able to lean into memories and allow herself to bring certain stories and chemistry into the recording studio. Of the experience, she explains that “I wrote it about a specific time in my life – One of those moments that felt fun and fleeting.. It was the kind of song that just spills out and writes itself when you’re in the right mood with the right person in the room.”

To date, Holly’s voice and presence as a performer has evolved and impressed on stages with a wide variety of names including (but not limited to) James Blunt, Chase & Status, and Carly Simon.

Her work with South London collective Archive brought Holly to more audiences in the UK, collaborating on tracks including ‘Shouting Within’ in 2021. Holly has also collaborated with UK DJ duo Eli & Fur,  producers Delta Heavy and Dirty Audio; as well as French group Synapson, whose track ‘Hide Away’ has accrued over 29 million streams to date.

With the release of ‘Something Sexy’, Holly kicks off a new artistic chapter, with more to come as this year enters its second half.

PHIA EXINER releases her third album WHEN I’M HOLDING YOU I’M HOLDING ME

Phia Exiner today releases her third album When I’m Holding You I’m Holding Me. Recorded live with a world-class band, the recording features Exiner on piano, Tony Floyd (The Black Sorrows) on drums, Jonathan Zion (Deborah Conway, Lior) on double bass, Gus Rigby (Fools) on flute and saxophone, Harry Angus (The Cat Empire) on horns and woodwinds and produced by Nick Huggins (The Dirty Three).

Phia is a composer, musician and songwriter of unusual breadth and this is reflected within this album. When I’m Holding You, I’m Holding Me shows an artist confident in herself, where she is and where she’s come from in her return to the piano, the instrument of her youth and the instrument her mother played to her. Written in the brief snatches of time when her son napped in the year after his birth, through sleep deprivation and the deepening understanding of herself as she grew into becoming a mother. The songs of When I’m Holding You, I’m Holding Me map this singular time, the slow unfurling of discovery, of her son and herself.

“My third album  was written in the year after my son’s birth and the songs map this singular time, of discovering my son and rediscovering myself, and drawing on my formative piano influences of Brad Mehldau, Carole King and Bill Evans.” Phia

How To Survive An Avalanche, is the fourth single and focus track of the album . This stunning song features Phia solo at the piano, and is her at her most honest and vulnerable. Highlighting her lyrical, classically-trained piano technique and her tender, heartbreaking vocals which weave a story of those early months of parenthood, broken sleep and finding herself in her new reality of motherhood with the avalanche of change.

“This song was written after a particularly bad night of sleep broken by breastfeeding. I read an interview with a mountain climber who had become an expert in avalanche rescues. Her advice was to not get caught up in the race, or the idea you had of how long it would take to reach the summit. The mountain is the boss. You have to surrender and know that you can’t conquer the mountain and the weather through force of mind. This felt like such an incredible analogy for having a baby and adjusting to their rhythms. Ultimately you need to surrender to the force of nature that is your child. In some ways it feels like the opposite of everything I’d been adjusting my life to as an adult, being in control of my time and being the boss. And now I had to unlearn it, and allow myself to let go of control.”  Phia

Originally training as a jazz pianist, Phia achieved a cult following during her time living in Europe with her unique use of the kalimba (thumb piano) accompanied by loop and effect pedals. Since returning to Melbourne, Australia she has founded and creatively directs 500 piece choir Melbourne Indie Voices as well as composing and arranging for film and television and releasing two albums under her own name. The thread which runs through all her work is her authentic and sincere voice, and playful and expert musicality.

COURTNEY KEIL SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘BROKE’

Country music songbird Courtney Keil has never shied away from honesty, and her latest single, ‘Broke’ might be her most vulnerable release to date.

Following her previous single ‘Just Like Flying’, which was added to Apple Music’s ‘Aussie Country’ and ‘Country Risers’ editorial playlists, ‘Broke’ treads new sonic ground. It’s a cool blend of contemporary country and western film soundtrack – conjuring images of tumbleweeds and swinging doors. The lyrics tell the story of a relationship that felt unbreakable, until it wasn’t. But like the heroes of the Old West, this cowgirl rides off into the sunset, head held high.

“This song is all about working through the pain of a relationship ending, coming out the other side not bitter, but stronger and more self-aware,” says Courtney. “Just because a relationship breaks down, it doesn’t mean you’re broken.”

Written alongside Nashville hitmaker, Sally Barris and long-time collaborator, Rod McCormack, the trio “tried to capture that sense of resilience and hope despite the heartbreak.” It’s a relatable kind of ache, but one delivered with poise and power, as Courtney’s voice soars through the chorus lines:

“We were diamond strong, guess I was wrong / We were so unshakable, so unbreakable / Walking on love’s tightrope / Until it broke.”

Produced by Rod McCormack (Paul Kelly, Adam Harvey, Gina Jeffreys) at his renowned Music Cellar on the NSW Central Coast, ‘Broke’ balances classic and contemporary with effortless finesse.

“We set out to craft a track that bursts with energy and emotion, blending classic country elements of banjo, guitar and rich percussion with a fresh, contemporary edge.”

With the arrangement drawing on both old and new influences, Courtney decided to offer fans a second take. “As a special twist, I’m also releasing a bonus Bluegrass version of the song, as a heartfelt nod to my country roots and showing my deep appreciation for the genre.”

A three-time back-to-back winner of Best Female Vocal at the Australian Country Music People’s Choice Awards, Courtney continues to carve out a distinct space in the country scene. She rocked the Gympie Music Muster, headlined her own Tamworth Country Music Festival show and has opened for legends including Gina Jeffreys, Adam Harvey, The Whitlams Black Stump, Brian Cadd and Karise Eden.

A recording trip to Nashville, Tennessee with producer Rod McCormack is up next, with a much-anticipated sophomore album in the works. Then she hits the road to the beautiful Mooney Mooney Chapel, located on the NSW Central Coast, where she’ll share the stage with 9 x Golden Guitar winner Duncan Toombs for an intimate night of music on August 3.

With over half a million streams and a growing list of accolades to her name, Courtney Keil isn’t just one to watch, she’s one to remember. With ‘Broke’, she proves that even in heartbreak there’s beauty, strength and a damn good hook. Saddle up, this is Courtney Keil at full gallop.

SHOW DATES:
3rd August – Mooney Mooney Chappel – Mooney Mooney, NSW (w/ Duncan Toombs)
14th September – Grafton District Services Club – Grafton, NSW

The VANNS Announce Third Studio Album All That’s In My Head. New single ‘Accomplice’ out next week

Wollongong rock band The VANNS have announced their highly anticipated third studio album, All That’s In My Head, set for release August 1st. Known for their dynamic live performances and emotionally charged songwriting, the band continues to evolve their sound with this new chapter, produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy).

The album was recorded across two sessions — one in London following their UK tour, and the other back home in regional New South Wales — capturing the dual energy of life on the road and the comfort of familiar ground.

“We’re stoked to be releasing our third album All That’s In My Head, a record which thematically encompasses what its title suggests,” says Cameron Little from The VANNS. “Working with producer/legend Oscar Dawson, we recorded this album over two two-week sessions: one in London after being on tour in the UK, and one more or less just down the road from where we live. We had a ball making it, we hope you dig it, and we can’t wait to play it live.”

Another taste of a new record arrives next week with the release of ‘Accomplice’ — a driving, emotionally resonant track that continues the band’s tradition of pairing raw honesty with soaring production.

“‘Accomplice’ is about having the complete support of somebody in life no matter what you’re going through or maybe even putting yourself through,” the band explains. “It’s a hopeful love song dressed up as a quasi-crime story, and vice versa.”

The VANNS have signed this project to GYROstream, marking a deeper partnership with the Brisbane-based music company as it expands its work in signing and supporting career artists. GYROstream’s involvement demonstrates a growing focus on long-term artist development and building and exporting careers for independent Australian talent.

“It’s a privilege to be working alongside The VANNS on this next chapter of their career,” says GYROstream CEO Andy Irvine. “Their decision to remain independent and release this project with our team speaks to the strength of our shared vision. We’re committed to providing the support and strategy needed to help bring their music to new audiences both in Australia and internationally.”

This release follows the band’s 2023 album Last Of Your Kind, which debuted at #8 on the ARIA Albums Chart and affirmed The VANNS’ place as a standout force in Australia’s modern rock scene. The band has performed at SXSW Austin, Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, Yours & Owls, and The Great Escape UK, and has supported international acts including The Kooks, The Wombats, and Inhaler.

Their music has earned extensive support from triple j (including Feature Albums, Hottest 100 placements, Like A Version, and Most Played Artist accolades), along with strong DSP backing and sold-out shows both nationally and abroad.

With All That’s In My Head, The VANNS are stepping confidently into their next era — a refined yet expansive sound, anchored in the raw energy and emotional depth that has defined their journey so far.

POLLY Releases Teeth Sinking Single ‘B.I.T.E ME’

Unleashing unapologetic emotion, POLLY’s newest single ‘B.I.T.E ME’, out on Friday, June 20th, is a pointed glance into the edgy side of her upcoming EP ‘Daddy Issues’, out on Friday, July 18.

Having reached listeners in over 116 countries, POLLY is making a name for herself with her commanding performances and vast musical prowess in piano, guitar, and delivering powerful vocals.

Together with a world-class team — including producer Liam Quinn (Ruel, Peach PRC), Brent Kolatalo (19 Grammy nominations), and mastering engineer Chris Gehringer (Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez, Tove Lo) — POLLY delivers shimmering, club-lit doses of pure electropop. With her fusion of lush sounds, raw lyricism, and hypnotic vocals, POLLY’s music is the perfect companion for life’s hills and valleys, whether they’re dancing, driving, or screaming into a pillow.

With its pointed, corrosive lyrics and electric noise, ‘B.IT.E ME’ was sparked by the sting of seeing an ex with someone new, but transforms heartache into a post-breakup anthem of defiant rage and release. POLLY states:

“This song really helped the angry, f*ck you part of me heal. I hope people bop along to this song and also heal some trauma along the way.”

With heavy, pounding drums pulsing beneath POLLY’s vocals and melodies, the refrain of ‘B.I.T.E, yeah, go bite me’ lingers in the forebrain like a bite mark on skin as her teeth-sinking edge is contrasted by the playful tone of POLLY’s voice for something truly sweet-and-sour.

‘B.I.T.E ME’ offers just a taste of POLLY’s upcoming EP ‘Daddy Issues’, out July 18 — a raw and revealing journey through childhood wounds, adolescent chaos, and emotional healing, told through the lens of her relationships, art, and self-discovery.

Bite back with ‘B.I.T.E ME’, POLLY’s latest electro-pop anthem, out on Friday, June 20th, ahead of her upcoming EP ‘Daddy Issues’.

REDD. RELEASES DEBUT MIXTAPE RAUNCH. SHARES OFFICIAL VIDEO CLIP FOR NEW SINGLE ‘BAD DAYS.’ ANNOUNCES RAUNCH. MIXTAPE TOUR PLAYING SYD & MELB + SUPPORTING TEEN JESUS & THE JEAN TEASERS

What is RAUNCH.? It’s a feeling, a concept, a way of being. Melbourne/Naarm-based artist REDD. today releases their debut mixtape RAUNCH. and shares the official video for their blistering high energy new single ‘BAD DAYS.’. The release arrives alongside the announcement of the RAUNCH. Mixtape Tour, with free headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this July.

Fresh from a run of shows in the UK and Europe, including The Great Escape and Pretty Pissed Festival, REDD. will return home to play free shows in Melbourne at Lulie Tavern on July 5th and in Sydney at Vic On The Park on Saturday July 12th and will be joining the epic King Street Crawl (Newtown) line-up on Sunday July 13th . In addition to the free shows,  REDD. will be supporting Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers on their East Coast tour next month.

REDD. and their boundaryless, wholly idiosyncratic approach to music speaks to the experience of an artist who’s been the odd one out for nearly their entire life.  REDD. wants to connect with people, make them move, and spark boundless joy.

New single ‘BAD DAYS.’ puts a fresh spin on contemporary emo-pop-rock and plays like the emotional core of the RAUNCH. mixtape – an acknowledgement of pain that manages to look past it into brighter futures, it complicates our image of an artist whose primary mode is setting the party on fire. “There are bad days, there are others where I am thinking I just might break, snapping under my weight. Everything wrong, check the world’s climate, I just sing songs, hoping I’ll survive it,” REDD. says.

Shot entirely on an iPhone 4 across the US and Australia, the accompanying official video, with its raw yet striking DIY style, is co-directed by REDD. and  Cole Surrey. The almost documentary-like glimpses captures the intense energy and chaotic world of REDD.

Watch the official video for ‘BAD DAYS.’

Opening track and lead single ‘RAUNCH.’ is a slithery kiss-off that flexes REDD.’s prodigious talent and shows off their talent for arena-ready production, while ‘SHIMMY SHAKE.’ is the kind of romantic slacker pop track that would make Mac Miller proud. ‘PUSH ME AWAY.’ puts a fresh spin on contemporary emo-pop-rock, and pop-punk track ‘FUGH SHI.’ takes aim at artists who don’t have conviction in their own uniqueness and sense of self. ‘JEANS SO BAGGY.’ is a sun-dappled ode to being a freak and totally liking it and closing track ‘BRITNEY IN 03.’, the bratty indie sleaze anthem that’s already put REDD. on the map toys with conventions of gender and taste with the bearings of the artist they know they’ll soon be.

The 9-track mixtape moves at breakneck speed through crackling pop-punk, lush indie-R&B, and party-starting hip hop anthems, all the while foregrounding REDD.’s lithe voice and remarkable talent for sharp, witty lyricism. Recorded in Melbourne, Sydney, LA and New York,  RAUNCH. is produced and written by REDD. and friends Lach Bostock (Maisonair), Tom Josephs, Laiko (Medium Build), New-Haven (Evie Irie, Allday), SB40, Stephen Mowat (Gretta Ray, Tyne-James Organ), Ciarrann Babbington (Bakers Eddy), Nate Delizotti (Vacations), Benjamin Schandy (Jimi Somewhere), Ole Martin Jense (Jimi Somewhere), Julian Sudek (Royel Otis, Bag Raiders, Genesis Owusu), and  Lars Stalfors (Role Model, The Dare, Lucy Dacus) on mixing.

There is no doubt the momentum behind REDD. continues to heat up with every single they release and every show they perform. As well as local media and DSPs championing their music – triple j and unearthed, 3RRR, RTR, FBi, SYN FM, 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide, Side-Note, Tonedeaf, Milky, VEVO, Spotify and Apple Music – internationally REDD. has been played on BBC Radio and Radio X and given the seal of approval by Kerrang!

REDD.’s  raw, no-holds-barred creativity, impressive lyricism and explosive high energy live shows are turning heads and you can catch them at the following live shows this month.

BENEE GOES ‘OFF THE RAILS’ WITH NEW SINGLE OUT NOW & MUSIC VIDEO

Multi-Platinum alt-pop visionary BENEE returns with an electrifying and anthemic new single entitled ‘Off The Rails’. Co-written with notable female songwriting and producing duo Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd [Addison Rae’s Addison] and produced by Kloser and Anderfjärd alongside BENEE’s frequent collaborator Josh Fountain, she describes ‘Off The Rails’ as “an aggressive, angry, chaotic product of my navigating the current state of the world and channeling my existential dread. It’s feminine rage—sick of being pushed around and embracing the chaos.” The genre-bending song is released alongside an equally exhilarating official music video directed by British music video direction team Bedroom, out at 10pm AEST.

BENEE shares, “Luka and Elvira are two incredible producers in the music industry right now. First we made ‘Green Honda,’ and then ‘Off The Rails.’ I felt this energy was really needed and perfectly places a certain tone in my storyline. It honestly was one of the few studio sessions I’ve ever done with only women, which brings such a different creative energy. I felt so comfortable really saying anything. In a typically male-dominated industry, I had a different connection with them. We had a lot of fun making this song and I love it, I hope listeners do too!”

On the touring front, BENEE has spent the last two months supporting Tate McRae on the European and UK leg of her 2025 global tour, performing in legendary arenas across the region. BENEE will wrap the tour next week following upcoming shows at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, London’s The O2, and Manchester’s Co-op Live.

‘Off The Rails’ is the follow-up to the New Zealand-born, Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter’s recent critically acclaimed singles ‘Animal’ and ‘Sad Boiii’ and a teaser for what’s to come from her forthcoming full length project. 2024 also saw BENEE celebrate the 5th anniversary of her Double-Platinum Certified breakthrough hit ‘Supalonely’ and captivate live audiences while on tour with Olivia Rodrigo and Wallows.

ABOUT BENEE:
BENEE strikes a fragile chord between extremes. On one hand, she writes songs with open-hearted emotionality tailormade for lonely listening sessions on headphones at 3AM. On another hand, she serves up festival-ready anthems, teeming with childlike curiosity and otherworldly energy. The multi-platinum New Zealand-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer collages together glassy melodies, inventive instrumentation, enigmatic production, enticing storytelling, and larger-than-life visuals to build a living and breathing world of her own. Her music has revolved around this balance since she emerged in 2017. She arrived as a global phenomenon in the wake of her Double-Platinum smash ‘Supalonely’ feat. Gus Dapperton. It set the stage for her 2020 full-length debut, Hey u x. The latter saw her collaborate with the likes of Grimes, Lily Allen, Flo Milli, Kenny Beats, Bakar, and Muroki. Earning critical acclaim, Interview Magazine christened her “one of Gen Z’s leading rockstars,” and DAZED dubbed her “a voice of the pandemic generation.” She delivered stunning television performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Late Night with Seth Meyers, and sold out headline tours around the world. Beyond tallying streams in the billions, she garnered over a dozen Platinum and Gold Certifications across the globe. In 2023, she released her fan favorite single ‘Green Honda’ and notably teamed up with Mallrat for ‘Do It Again’, which FIFA chose as the Official Song for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. On top of touring with the likes of Wallows, Olivia Rodrigo, and Tate McRae, she recently made her big screen debut in the indie film Head South. Now, BENEE welcomes everyone into her world with a series of singles from her highly anticipated sophomore album.

FELICITY URQUHART & JOSH CUNNINGHAM SHARE EMPOWERING NEW SINGLE ‘TONE DEAF’

Following the success of their rockabilly hit ‘Joy Roller’ – which reached #6 on the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay Chart, #3 on the AMRAP Regional Chart, and entered a slew of Apple Music’s editorial playlists – Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham are keeping the momentum going with their bold new single, ‘Tone Deaf’.

Recorded with the same retro sensitivity that gave ‘Joy Roller’ its irresistible charm, ‘Tone Deaf’ blends driving rhythm with melodic hooks, echoing the classic sounds of a time when music was raw, vital and unaffected. It’s three and a half minutes of razor-sharp intent – an anthem of liberation for those who have been held down for too long and are taking a stand to reclaim themselves. LISTEN HERE

“We’ve all had experiences in life where we feel like we are dancing to someone or something else’s tune and losing a sense of who we are. The expectations of others and society at large can easily funnel you into a space where you wake up one day and ask, where am I and who have I become?” says Felicity.

“Being held back and held down is bad enough, but when your oppressor is tone deaf to your needs, it’s time to make yourself tone deaf to their song of control,” Felicity continues. “Tuning out is the first step in healing, but the ultimate growth comes from writing your own song to sing.”

This is where ‘Tone Deaf’ stands tall as a shout of strength, defiance and self-reliance. Felicity and Josh felt it was important to shine a light on this all-too-common tale by focusing on the positivity of finding strength and getting free, rather than the heaviness of being held down.

“Tone Deaf has such a great energy. It makes you want to dance wildly and throw your arms about” says Felicity. She and Josh sing the entire song together and deliver the emotionally charged lyric with an intensity which leaves no doubt they’re singing from their own real-life experiences.

Josh’s guitar playing thrums with urgency, embodying the angst of someone who has come to the realisation of just how controlled they have been. “Being under the thumb is crazy-making in itself, but that gets magnified when you reflect back and realise what you’ve endured,” shares Josh. “There’s outrage and euphoria all mixed together and it’s quite intense. Because I have a very personal story around that, I just let those feelings filter through my guitar and it all came out a bit like Reg Mombassa’s whammy bar meets the Easybeats!”

Reuniting with trusted collaborators Matt Fell and Josh Schuberth to anchor the rhythm section was a no-brainer. “The way they interpret our songs is always so perfect” says Felicity. “Recording our parts to their rhythm tracks is like stepping into a pair of amazing boots. You can admire those boots and imagine where you might walk in them, but it’s not until they’re on your feet that the adventure begins and the journey becomes real.”

And the journey is certainly gathering pace.

In March 2025, Felicity and Josh signed with ArtBridge Entertainment for management, marking a new chapter in their ever-evolving career. The following month, they joined the impressive roster at Craft Music for all live bookings – a partnership already bearing fruit with a packed tour schedule throughout 2025.

“Craft Music is very proud to welcome Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham to the family, says Managing Director Peter Gillies. “In only a couple of months we have collaboratively developed a full tour in 2025 that will see this new single enjoyed in its live format by thousands around the country. We see big things for Felicity & Josh, and we know that the power of their songs and performance will mean a lot to fans from many walks of life.”

As Spring sets in they’ll wind their way across the backroads of NSW, ACT and TAS, performing across a string of intimate venues.

With ‘Tone Deaf’, Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham are raising a flag. It’s a fearless reminder that even in the noise of expectation and control, we all have the power to cut through, turn it down, and sing something true.

Teenager (Nick Littlemore & Ladyhawke) release euphoric indie-dance  cross-over ‘Sail The Seas’ ahead of forthcoming ‘Fourteen’

After reuniting earlier this year with their first single in almost two decades, Teenager – the collaborative project of Nick Littlemore (PNAU, Empire of the Sun) and Pip Brown (Ladyhawke) – are back with ‘Sail The Seas’, the second single from their highly anticipated new body of work, Fourteen, due later this year.

‘Sail The Seas’ takes listeners on a kaleidoscopic groove-laden voyage across genres in a wave of pure indie-dance energy. It’s a song that feels like floating through a vivid, sun-drenched dream, propelled by emotion, curiosity and a sense of wonder, wrapped in undeniably catchy, upbeat production.

Ladyhawke explains “Nick came over and we pretty much wrote Sail The Seas in a day. We were writing it for an ad or something and then we loved the song so much it ended up becoming a Teenager song, which I’m very, very glad about. We wanted to write something really fun and hooky, which was almost like a chanting kid’s melody, but with our Teenager take on it.”

STREAM & DOWNLOAD TEENAGER ‘SAIL THE SEAS’

Teenager was formed in 2004 by Nick Littlemore (PNAU and Empire of the Sun) and featured the then emerging talent of Kiwi, Pip Brown, who later became known globally as Ladyhawke.

The band released their debut album, Thirteen, in 2006, which was characterised by a blend of danceable beats and punk rock influences. Recorded across studios in Sydney, London, New York, Paris and Los Angeles, the album featured hits like ‘Pony’ and ‘Bound and Gagged’, which showcased their unique and energetic style. Partly due to Nick Littlemore’s DIY ethos as well as its collaborators from Sonic Youth, Van She, Luke Steele, The Birthday Party and The Presets, the album found cult status in the UK, US and Australia.

Despite their promising start, the band was short-lived by their own preeminent success. By 2007, Pip Brown was focussed on her solo career as Ladyhawke, releasing her debut self-titled album in 2008, boasting synth and electro-pop classic gems like ‘My Delirium’ & ‘Paris Is Burning’. Similarly, Nick Littlemore returned to his work with PNAU, and soon after formed Empire of the Sun with Luke Steele, through which his distinctive artistic vision produced globally renowned genre-defying songs like Empire of the Sun’s ‘Walking On A Dream’, ‘We Are The People’ and ‘Alive’ as well as PNAU’s ‘Go Bang’, Elton John & Dua Lipa’s ‘Cold Heart’ (PNAU remix) and Troye Sivan’s ‘You Know What I Need’.

Amidst this creative outpouring, the bond between the pair never waned and they continued to collaborate, writing and recording songs between projects and at times from opposite sides of the world, meaning that this long-awaited new collection of songs is almost two decades in the making.

However, Teenager are not simply picking up where they left off – they’re charting an entirely new course through a dream-like blend of euphoric synths and pulsing basslines with a serve of punk rock attitude, as they release a string of new singles in the lead up to Fourteen, kicking off with the undeniably catchy songs ‘A.A.’ and ‘Sail The Seas’.

HANNAH ACFIELD SHARES BEAUTIFUL NEW SINGLE “TRUTH”

Following the successful soulful release of I Got You, Melbourne singer-songwriter Hannah Acfield returns with Truth — the latest single from her forthcoming album Golden Light, out later this year via Toby Dog Records.

Truth is a slow-building, piano-led testament to quiet strength and self-worth. At its heart is Acfield’s striking voice — pure and resonant, with emotional clarity and a powerful sense of presence. From the tender opening lines to its layered final refrain, Hannah’s performance anchors the song’s message of self-belief and inner resolve.

“Truth is about believing in yourself, trusting your gut, and being resilient. I’ve found that when my worth has been questioned — even subtly — it’s pushed me to dig deeper. Maybe part of me has wanted to prove something, but mostly it’s been about backing myself and not giving up.”

Acfield continues, “With this album, I’ve been trying to be more conscious about choosing hope. My last record came out of the heaviness of lockdown — but with Golden Light, and with Truth, I wanted to offer something uplifting and empowering in a grounded, human way.”

Anchored by expressive piano and subtle electric guitar textures, Truth unfolds with warm restraint — layering ambient swells, bass, and brushed drums to create space for the song’s emotional arc. The mantra-like chorus “Who you gonna believe” gains strength with each repetition, before giving way to the gently affirming final refrain: “You are enough.”

Blending soul, folk and contemporary singer-songwriter influences, Truth draws comparisons to Lianne La Havas, Ainslie Wills, Aldous Harding, and Sarah Blasko. It’s a song that invites stillness, reflection, and a quiet rising.

Acfield’s previous releases have earned praise from The Australian (“a triumph of talent”) and support from folk and roots radio across Australia and abroad. Hannah has showcased at Folk Alliance International (USA) and Focus Wales (UK), and has been described by no less than Joan Armatrading as having “a beautiful voice.”

Truth is available on all platforms today, 25 June 2025, ahead of her new album Golden Light that will be released later in the year.  LINKTREE

POTÉ RELEASES NEW EP ‘BABY, HOLD ME’

Born in St Lucia and later moving to the UK, Poté is a singer songwriter-producer who builds worlds that are raw and expansive. 2021 saw the release of his debut album A Tenuous Tale of Her, with two of those influential connections which helped to shape the record. First, Bonobo, who signed the record to be the debut album on his new OUTLIER label. And second, Damon Albarn, who features on album track ‘Young Lies’, adopting the character of a corrupt, cynical politician.

After several solo live tours supporting Bonobo, playing festivals and DJ sets alongside heavyweights like Ed Banger’s Pedro Winter, Poté embarks on a bold new chapter—both musically and creatively.

Poté teams up with Rinse France for a summer-long B2B series, curating a global lineup of guests at the iconic Parisian radio studio. Featured artists include France’s Myd and Andy4000, Brazil’s Slim Soledad, Guadeloupe’s Hey Bony, the UK’s Bonobo, and more.

This year also marks the return of his label, Versicolor, with the introspective Baby, Hold Me EP. “This is my most honest and open project,” Poté shares. “Baby, Hold Me’ documents the process of seeing, holding and nurturing myself to understand and connect with my emotions, needs and relationship with love, fear, shame and faith. Realising and changing my compulsion for external validation and redirecting that inwards to grow, hold and love myself.”

Baby, Hold Me is out now via Ditto. “I’m excited to share these songs live,” he adds. “I feel like I have something meaningful to say, and that matters to me.”

This UK / EU summer, Poté joins Africa Express for a seven-date festival tour and brings a new iteration of his live show to Poland’s Malta Festival on June 23rd.

Baby, Hold Me EP tracklist

Baby, Hold Me
‘Baby, Hold Me’ was the first song of the project that was written. It’s a reminder to me to lead my life with love first and not fear. Thinking can be exhausting, so “despite the way you hold your head, hold your heart.”

Somebody Loves You
It’s a reminder to others that transitional periods in life are difficult, but somebody loves… Keep growing. Don’t fall stagnant from your lessons learnt, you’re loved, you are love, somebody loves you… you should too.

Bubblegum
‘Bubblegum’ captures my journey back to spirituality and faith. At a time when I was clinging to habits and traits that fed my ego rather than my soul—what I came to see as ‘bubblegum,’ sweet but lacking substance—this song became a way to document the process of letting go and realigning with what truly matters.

Give You Up (feat. Bonobo)
‘Give You Up’ is a heartfelt tribute to the lengths we go for love—whether to be loved or to embody love itself. It’s an ode to familial love, dedicated to my grandparents.

Aysanabee’s Edge of the Earth out now. Sophomore Album Dares and Dreams in Emphatic Fashion

Edge of the Earth, Aysanabee’s sophomore album, is out now – accompanied with a new video for “Gone Baby Gone”. A revealing and absorbing work, Edge of the Earth captures an artist at pivotal moments, where opportunity and sacrifice collide.

The new video for “Gone Baby Gone” embodies the emotions that come with the end of a relationship – rage and despair, sorrow and relief. Reactive and dramatic, the video conveys an explosive, frenetic energy that speaks to the whirlwind of changes, choices and consequences present throughout the album. Watch “Gone Baby Gone” here.

Previously released songs “Home” and “Without You” reinforce the album’s major theme as they explore points of no return, as an impossible homecoming of the heart and hearth, and in mourning the loss of his grandfather, Watin, for whom Aysanabee’s breakthrough debut was named.

Closing song, “Dreamcatcher,” the first song written for the record, best articulates Aysanabee’s purpose on Edge of the Earth – to answer, for himself, what is the value of art and what is he willing to give up in order to make it? “Oh dreams, don’t catch me sleeping,” he sings. From start to finish, the album finds Aysanabee moving forward, with this ambitious, transitional project carving another fork in the road. Watch a new Edge Of The Earth trailer here.

Buy/Stream Edge of the Earth here.

After delivering a powerful performance at SXSW Sydney in October 2024, Aysanabee made his way back to Australia to perform at the Woodford Folk Festival before kicking off the new year with a string of shows alongside Kim Churchill. Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too long to welcome him back again.

www.aysanabee.com

ABOUT EDGE OF THE EARTH
On his sophomore album, Edge of the Earth (June 20, 2025, via Ishkōdé Records), Aysanabee embarks on a transformative journey of will, sacrifice and self-discovery. Following the deeply personal narratives of Watin and the introspective exploration of Here and Now, Edge of the Earth expands his sonic horizons, blending his signature fingerstyle guitar with lush, cinematic soundscapes.

The album’s title track, released in January, 2025 ahead of his first headline tour, encapsulates the theme of movement both physical and emotional, leaving behind burdens and embracing an uncharted future. Subsequent singles, “Without You,” a heartfelt tribute to his late grandfather and “The Way We’re Born,” a meditation on identity and resilience, offer a glimpse into the album’s emotional depth and sonic ambition. Newest single “Home,” continues to reveal the project’s sonic template and sense of moving beyond the point of no return.

“Every song on this record offers a window into very transitional moments in my life. Over the last few years I was faced with decisions that often took me inwards and made me question the core of my creativity, ‘What drives me to make art and how much would I be willing to sacrifice for it?’ I mulled over calling the record ‘Reflections”’or ‘Patterns,’ but landed on Edge of the Earth, ‘because often times these decisions would take me to the edge of an unknown and leave me wondering if I was ready to take a leap of faith. I can’t say I was ready, but I can tell you how it felt, and it is in these songs.”

With swelling melodies, intricate instrumentation, and Aysanabee’s unmistakable voice at its core, Edge of the Earth cements his place as one of the most compelling voices in alternative music today. With Edge of the Earth, Aysanabee steps boldly into a new era—unburdened, limitless, and ready to ascend to greater heights.

FELICITY continues to tease upcoming EP with latest single ‘I’LL HAVE WHAT HE’S HAVING’. ‘4PM IN THE MORNING’ EP out August 1

Perth-Born, Nashville-based pop artist Felicity has today unveiled the latest taste of her upcoming EP ‘4PM in The Morning’ (out 1.8) with ‘I’ll Have What He’s Having’ – a bright, infectious piece of pop-perfection, released via East Music Row Records.

Following first EP single ‘Half Sad’, ‘I’ll Have What He’s Having’ continues to showcase Felicity’s dynamic range and boundless talent as a songwriter and performer. The track was written by Felicity alongside esteemed songwriter Asia Whiteacre (Louis Tomlinson, Hailee Steinfeld); and producer Dan Pallarin – and the years of experience within the songwriting team is immediately apparent.  The production on ’I’ll Have What He’s Having’ is both highly polished and full of character – providing the perfect canvas for Felicity’s striking vocal performance, full to the brim with hooks and personality.

Lyrically the track serves as a tongue-in-cheek reflection on self worth and relationships.

“Asia, Dan and I had a hell of a good time writing this song. Dan is such a talented guy and everything he was playing on piano sparked a hundred fun pop melodies. Quickly the song started to take shape.

We wrote it to be a love song on the surface but beneath that it’s more about the feeling of being jealous of those who have a healthier, kinder self image than I seem to have. The main chorus lyric is “I’ll have what he’s having, what’s it like to be nice to yourself? I’m just mean, dammit” and that’s a good synopsis for me as a person but also the song as a whole.”FELICITY

Felicity has gone from strength to strength since the release of her debut single ‘Burnt Sugar’ back in 2018. She has since risen to 6 million total streams (including 1.8 million for ‘Poison’ & 2.8 million for ‘Pilot With A Fear Of Heights’) and an impressive 30,000 combined social following. Her debut EP ‘You Take Me To Dinner But You’ll Never Feed My Soul’ released July 2024 was met with praise from all corners of the industry, including editorial playlist support from Spotify and media praise from Atwood, Pleaser Mag, Mundane Mag and The Skadoosh. EP track ‘Half Sad’ has already made a great impact since release, with adds to Spotify editorial playlists (New Music Friday, Pop N’ Fresh, Equal AU & NZ) & Apple Music playlists (Jazz Soul Cafe, New In Alternative, New In Pop).

All The Young Droids: Junkshop Synth Pop 1978-1985

All The Young Droids: Junkshop Synth Pop 1978-1985 is a new compilation that charts the underbelly of the epoch-defining sound of the synthesiser in the ’80s and connects the dots between DIY synth enthusiasts grappling with new, cheap analog synthesisers at the tail-end of punk and jobbing songwriters enthral to the new music

All The Young Droids: Junkshop Synth Pop 1978-1985 is a new compilation that charts the underbelly of the epoch-defining sound of the synthesiser in 80s popular music. Compiled by Philip King (previously seen compiling All The Young Droogs, Glitterbest and Boobs – The Junkshop Glam Discotheque), the music here connects the dots between DIY synth enthusiasts grappling with new, cheap synthesisers at the tail-end of punk and wannabe, jobbing songwriters enthral to the new music pioneered by Gary Numan, Depeche Mode and Daniel Miller’s Mute Records. The compilation is released July 11 on 2LP (500 copies on transparent pink, 500 copies on black vinyl) and 2CD on School Daze Records/Night School Records out of the UK, with Australian distribution through Sound-Merch’s Tweak Distro.

Featuring rare tracks of auto-didactic progressive pop music, proto-techno punk, shoot-for-the-stars-land-in-the-gutter chart flops and heralded, underground synth classics, All The Young Droids paints a picture of beautiful failure. Complete with extensive sleeve notes written by King and never before seen imagery, all 24 tracks were remastered by RPM in-house engineer Simon Murphy, many from vinyl copies due to lost master tapes.

The story told on All The Young Droids is one of the dawning opportunity presented by both the emergence to the market of cheaper analog synthesisers and the distribution networks plus indie labels that exploded with the advent of punk music in 1976. While the music that sprouted out all over the globe in the wake of these factors was decried as fake, plastic, a refutation of punk’s guitar-led revolution, it’s telling that much of the music on All The Young Droids.. was created in bedrooms, ramshackle studios and home-made set ups with often borrowed equipment. In the era of record labels jumping to capitalise on the success of The Sex Pistols, The Clash (both on major labels, of course) these artists struggled to stand out from a new gold-rush with next to no budget or PR team. With radio and labels desperate for the new Yazoo, what resulted was a testament to necessity being the mother of invention.

At the time, the synthesiser was the music of the future, a shiny new machine that could paint like an orchestra with a single finger and a 4-track. In the hands of Manchester avant-pranksters Gerry & The Holograms it’s a pulsing, sardonic weapon.. the only instrument on the Messthetics classic lampooning of New Wave fashion. In Hamburg, a 16 year old Andreas Dorau used it to write and record (with his female classmates on vocals) a global smash in Fred Vom Jupiter (later licensed to Mute Records). The hard-to-find English version (Fred From Jupiter, natch) is included here.

Many artists with already storied careers caught the bug and recorded synthesiser-fuelled peons to space, computers, the future and, of course, love-interests. Harry Kakoulli, late of Squeeze, recorded a solo album in 1979 that included the incredible power-synth-pop smash-that-never-smashed I’m On A Rocket. Similarly, Ian North of Neo and American Power Pop stalwarts Milk ’n’ Cookies bought a Korg MS20 and used a tape machine to record We’re Not Lonely, an absolute lost-classic of minimal synth pop. We’re Not Lonely also features on the Junkshop Synth Pop sampler 7” twinned with John Howard unreleased track You Will See, released April 12th 2025.

There are plenty of compilation debuts in evidence. Sole Sister were a mysterious trio who were featured on the Scaling Triangles compilation of female-fronted, queer-adjacent post-punk / underground music that also featured The Petticoats. Selwin Image were from San Francisco and featured members of the recently defunct power pop/punk group The Pushups. Their stupidly catchy The Unknown fizzes with New Wave energy – think XTC to Sparks but remains unreleased until now. Dream Unit’s A Drop In The Ocean is an early synth wave cut, positively teaming with Joy Division instrumentation, previously only released on a long-forgotten and super rare, self-released EP. Incandescent Luminaire’s Famous Names belies an archetypal struggle of a small-town trying to make it in a cruel industry but is a thrilling New Romantic-Synth Wave cross over with a OMD gloominess that’s a joy to hear. Feminist Minimal Wave track I Am A Time Bomb by performance artist Peta Lilly and Michael Chance is a revelation destined for new found cult status. It was released on 7” and lost until now.

The flipside to the subterranean, never-made-it synth pop mentioned above are the ambitious, even fruity attempts at success that have a perennial elegance to their confidence. New Jersey-ite Billy London (real name Ed Barth) tried to cash in on the synth boom with Woman, released by a major label, a lurching new wave track built on the Louie Louie rhythm and a wonderfully camp Lou Reed style sleazy vocal before exploding in the synthesised chorus. The song bombed but with a chorus like this, you have to wonder why? Ex-Glitter Band member John Springate’s My Life is truly epic, with doomed chord progressions and massive sounding drums turning into at least 3 different songs in the course of the track. Before you wonder what’s going on the song resolves with a glorious return to the main refrain.

The dry-ice-dressed dance floor is well catered for too. Design’s Premonition and Vision’s Lucifer’s Friend are stone-cold minimal synth bangers, well loved but given a new lease of life here. The Warlord’s The Ultimate Warlord was released in 1978, a homespun proto Hi NRG banger that was later re-recorded by The Immortals in Canada who had a club hit with it. One-man- band Disco Volante’s No Motion was re-issued by Synth wave label Medical in 2012 but makes its first vinyl compilation appearance here. Close your eyes and you can imagine what Lawrence of Felt would have sounded like with some cheap Korgs a little earlier in his career. Gibraltar-based trio The Microbes imagined a computer programming people to dance – how prescient – and ended up with a propulsive, robo-funk track with splendid rubbery bass playing over a tectonic drum machine. Previously picked up by Belgian label Stroom TV, Dee Jay Bert & Eagle’s heavily Euro-accented I Am Your Master demands the listener to “come to paradise!” In a frankly terrifying manner.

All The Young Droids is the first compilation to peel away from the narrative that dour, Minimal Synth and Cold Wave were the only musical children of the first rush of synth pop. Philip King and School Daze Records describe a much more complicated world: along with the austere, Brutalist children of Daniel Miller (who produced Alan Burnham’s Bowie-Low-influenced Science Fiction here) was a plethora of desperate cash-ins, accidental mainstream hits, ambitious pop dramas and major label punts that went nowhere. Crucially, the compilation blurs the line between junk and treasure. What if the two things are interchangeable. What if it’s all science fiction?

WAITING FOR BRENDA “Golden Guitar” – A Tribute to Tamworth & Music Connections

Streaming Release: “Golden Guitar” will be available on all major streaming platforms from 26th June, 2025.

BANDCAMP: https://waitingforbrenda.bandcamp.com/track/golden-guitar

Brisbane-based alt-country band Waiting for Brenda, the originals project of songwriter Brenda Lee Kelly, is proud to announce the long-anticipated release of the heartfelt track with a dash of humour “Golden Guitar.”

Written after a trip to the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2008, Golden Guitar captures the camaraderie, dreams, and real heart of Australia’s iconic music gathering.

For years, Brenda has performed this song live to enthusiastic audiences, who have asked, “When are you going to record it?” Now, nearly two decades later, finally Golden Guitar has been removed from the desktop out to all platforms.

Although both Brenda and her partner are audio engineers – having met while studying Sound Engineering in the 1990s – their time has often gone to recording others realise their sound or filing demos on the hard drive without releasing.

Recording Golden Guitar is a personal milestone, much like the dreams the song reflects: busking on Peel Street, connecting with fellow musicians, and getting that quintessential photo beside the Big Golden Guitar.

But as Brenda discovered in Tamworth, the real gold isn’t the awards – it’s the connection.

“It was in the café conversations, the pub jam sessions, and the campfire yarns where music truly came to life,” says Brenda. “That’s what the song is about connecting with other music lovers who are attend music festivals all year around just because they love music, whether music fans or musicians.

LAUFEY SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘LOVER GIRL’ + NEW ALBUM A MATTER OF TIME OUT 22 AUGUST

GRAMMY®-winning Icelandic-Chinese artist, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Laufey is premiering ‘Lover Girl’, the latest single from her highly anticipated forthcoming album A Matter of Time. Of the song, Laufey explains, “The hardest part of loving someone is being away from them. This is that story.” A Matter of Time is coming August 22 via Vingolf Recordings / AWAL.

Moreover, Laufey’s recently announced ‘A Matter of Time Tour,’ in partnership with AEG Presents, sold over 250K tickets, including two sold out Madison Square Garden dates in New York City, two sold out Crypto.com Arena dates in Los Angeles, plus second nights added in Toronto and San Francisco and a dozen other instantly sold out arena shows. The tour kicks off in September and sees Laufey bringing her enchanting and theatrical live show to her largest North American venues to date.

As Laufey began to craft A Matter of Time, she felt freer than ever. “Every new album for me is a blank book of stories to write,” she says, and it’s true. An artist who pours her life experiences into her work, she infused 2022’s Everything I Know About Love with coming-of-age tales revolving around leaving home, and for 2023’s GRAMMY®-winning Bewitched, she dove headlong into young love. Brought to life with sweeping orchestral arrangements, interwoven strains of bossa nova and jazz, and Laufey’s honeyed alto, those albums cemented Laufey as a star who can make sounds from bygone eras feel timeless.

Now on A Matter of Time, Laufey further crystalizes her singular sound—one still rooted in her beloved influences, but which forgoes any strict standards or rules. “I’m constantly thinking about classical and jazz, how to properly preserve them and pay homage.” For this album, she continues to do so while also noting, “I just wanted to let my heart wander.” To that end, she teamed up with a pair of co-producers, one comforting and familiar—Spencer Stewart, who had worked with Laufey on her first two albums—and one new to her but deeply attuned to artists looking to open up: Aaron Dessner (Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran).

Feeling sonically unrestrained gave Laufey the space to share new sides of herself while exploring sometimes heavier themes. “People expect a pretty façade of girly clothes, fantastical stories, and romantic music,” she says. “This time, I was interested in seeing how I could draw out the most flawed parts of myself and look at them directly in the mirror.” A Matter of Time finds Laufey at her most daring—and also playful—as she captures the experience of “real love” in its many forms and what it means to observe as it strips you down to your most vulnerable and anxious.

TIN TOWN ‘THINGS I GOT FROM YOU’ (Single)

Things I Got From You is a slow-burning reflection on the memories, habits, and heartache that linger long after someone’s gone. With its warm, unvarnished delivery and understated instrumentation, the track captures the emotional weight of inheritance – both the tangible and the intangible.

Things I Got From You is the first single off Tin Town’s upcoming album, due for release late in 2025. Recorded at Wizard Tone Studios, produced by Ryan Martin John (Cactus Cactus Sound) and featuring an all-star band rounding out the duos sound; Tom Kneebone (guitars), BJ Barker (Drums), Lyndon Gray (Bass).

A film clip will follow shortly after the release, with visuals that echo the song’s themes of nostalgia, distance, and connection – set against the moody expanse of the Australian landscape.

MORE ABOUT TIN TOWN
Tin Town is the new collaboration between seasoned Australian artists Courtney Robb and Snooks La Vie. As a wife-and-husband duo, they deliver grounded, folk-country melodies and unfiltered storytelling. Their songs feel vulnerable but intentional – the kind of music that doesn’t need to raise its voice to be heard.

Robb’s textured vocals are arresting in their honesty, carrying the weight of the lyrics without overselling them. La Vie’s harmonica is a vital thread in the Tin Town sound – melancholic one minute, cutting the next – adding colour and character in all the right places. It gives their songs a sense of movement and mood that lingers long after the final note.

It is clear the duo values space, clarity, and emotional truth. Their music is not polished to a shine, and that’s the point. Tin Town sounds like real life: a bit weathered, a bit tender, always authentic.

Both Robb and La Vie have a strew of individual musical successes under their belts. Robb was unearthed by Triple J in 2010, at the start of her songwriting journey and has been a mainstay on the South Australian folk scene ever since, with four solo albums released over the past 15 years. Her most recent release won the Adelaide Roots and Blues Association “Roots Album of the Year” and had great reach throughout Australia and Europe.

As the former frontman of The Hiptones, Snooks La Vie has earned recognition through a South Australian Music Award for Best Blues Band/Act, an APRA nomination for Blues/Roots Work of the Year, and a major label signing. He was also named South Australian Blues Vocalist of the Year for three consecutive years. Over the course of his career, Snooks has shared stages and tour bills with artists such as Chris Isaak, Steve Earle, Taj Mahal, Mud Morganfield, The Black Sorrows, and The Teskey Brothers.

After playing together for the past few years, they are excited to officially join forces to release new music as Tin Town. The name Tin Town was inspired by the Port Adelaide Wool Stores Heritage Precinct — a place the duo now calls home. Nicknamed “Tin Town” for its corrugated iron houses, wide dusty streets, rich history and colourful characters, the area offers a steady stream of creative inspiration for their music.

Tin Town’s debut album due for release in 2025, will feature twelve original tracks, recorded with producer Ryan Martin John of Cactus Cactus Sound. Think folk, country, and blues in equal measure – best heard with a glass of red in hand and nowhere to be.

ABBEY LANE Lights A Spark in Single ‘Burning Out’ Out on Thursday, June 26

Take a moment, take your time with ‘Burning Out’, the latest dulcet single from Abbey Lane. With 13 years of experience behind her, Abbey Lane has developed a distinct voice marked by smooth instrumentals and masterful vocals, a combination that continues to turn heads.

Now, in her first-ever self-produced track, Abbey strips things back with ‘Burning Out’, crafting a gentle, intimate soundscape. Guided by soft synths and a subtle electronic beat, her delicate vocal delivery leads listeners through a song that is both minimal and emotionally layered  deep in its simplicity.

This meditative track allows the lyrics to take centre stage. Written for anyone feeling overwhelmed or unsure of their place in the world, ‘Burning Out’ offers solace and a moment of stillness in a chaotic world. As Abbey shares:

“This track is for anyone having a quarter life crisis. I wrote it in a confused time of feeling lost in my twenties, where some friends are getting married and having kids, others are living day to day travelling the world, and I was conflicted between knowing what I should want and where I should be.”

A seasoned performer and collaborator, Abbey has written with artists like Yung Bleu and Tenille Arts, and performed at festivals including Old Bar Beach Festival (Surftrash, Kim Churchill), Rockhampton River Festival (Eskimo Joe), and Never Had So Much Fun (supporting Ula and Eluera).

Her first release of 2025, ‘Baby Steps’, was featured across outlets such as Rolling Stone, Triple J, and more. It was then followed by the bright, pop-rock single ‘Younger’ just last month. Now, with ‘Burning Out’, Abbey Lane delivers something softer and more introspective.

‘Burning Out’ from Abbey Lane is out now.

DEAD MALL release chaotic new single ‘100% PURE POISON’, debut album ‘SUPERLIMINAL’ out August 21

Newcastle punk outfit Dead Mall have dropped another taste of their upcoming debut album ‘SUPERLIMINAL’, with genre-bending single ‘100% PURE POISON’ out in the world today.

Easily the most experimental track in their discography to date, ‘100% PURE POISON’ pushes the band to its limits – with a sound almost indistinguishable from their earlier releases. Incorporating elements of nu metal, dance-punk and electronika, ‘100% PURE POISON’ is dense in its layering and relentless in its intensity, consistently building and chasing bigger peaks throughout its runtime.

Recorded, mixed and produced by the bands guitarist Darcy Long – ‘100% PURE POISON’ was one track from the bands upcoming LP that really allowed Long to dig his teeth in and get creative during the recording process – with room to experiment with layering, vocal effects and samples.

“As a nu metal kid at heart this song in particular really resonated with me from the get go. When Joe brought us the demo there was already so much happening, but it felt like it could be pushed even further in the studio.

Once we started working on it, everything seemed to come together.. there’s so many layers carefully crafted in to work with each other, it’s got dance breaks, washed out deftones-esque vocals, HM2 chainsaw guitars and DJ scratching. Definitely a mix bag and plenty of elements to listen for that you may not notice on the first listen” DARCY LONG, DEAD MALL

Although the track was written predominantly by guitarist Joe Willis, there were a few gaps in the lyrics when the band finally hit the studio. Frontman Ruairi Burns dove head first into his book of references and found a few interesting creative inspirations to help fill out the track – which ended up carrying over to other parts of the record.

“A few years ago, I was working on a food truck outside the mall. On the weekends, the outdoor food-court DJ (Dan Phelan of legendary hardcore band ‘Ceasefire’) would play this specific track, ‘You Keep Coming Back’ –  100% Pure Poison. The whole record is online now, but at the time, I’d either have to work weekends or turn up at another show, just to hear one song. The sample you can hear at the end of ‘Gasoline’ is taken from the same record. The lyrics that Joe put together for the first draft were super dark, so I finally had a chance to make that reference in the first verse (as well as the name).

In that original version, we also didn’t have a chorus melody, so I did what I always do – I watched movies. There’s a good chance I was watching Cherry 2000 at the time I was writing it, the dialogue is almost verbatim. But there were a lot of similarities between the lyrical themes of the demo and that of Cherry 2000 (apart from the sex robots).” RUAIRI BURNS, DEAD MALL

Released alongside the track is a music video from Central Coast animator and visual artist Thommy Crowe. Crowe, who has previously worked with Dead Mall creating animation for their ‘GASOLINE’ music video earlier this year, has created a beautifully dark, wild and haunting digital landscape for the track – a perfect visual representation for the chaotic, nihilistic tones found within the song’s lyrics.

While working on the track, Thommy threw himself into the work completely, stating that “I let the track take the wheel and it took me here. The track went from a stranger in my home to a great mate. We were at the edge and it pushed me to go even further. It was fun and so scary! Watch out for the copper thief! Thankyou Blender. Thankyou Dead Mall.”

Dead Mall have seen plenty of support since their return earlier this year – with significant support from media, radio and DSPs alike. They’ve seen radio support for both singles from triple J, triple J Unearthed, 4ZZZ, FBi, 2SER, RRR, PBS and more; DSP support from Spotify (with adds to New Music Friday, Local Noise, Fresh Finds AU & NZ, All New Metal and Hardcore Rising), Apple Music (The Riff, All New Rock, Rise Above) and have seen praise from national tastemakers Rolling Stone, The Music, Scenestr, MILKY, Blunt, Happy Mag, Hysteria and more.

On the live circuit, the band have previously played with the likes of Trophy Eyes, Whatever, Forever, Honest Crooks, Illnatured, Feel The Pain, Splinter, Terminal Sleep, Peace Ritual and many others.
