ALEX PERTOUT – ‘LEJOS DE TI (Far Away From You)’ (Single)
In quite the international collaboration, ‘LEJOS DE TI (Far Away From You)’ was produced and recorded by Alex Pertout in Melbourne, Australia, Alfonso Peña in La Habana, Cuba, Pedro Villagra in Santiago, Chile and Pablo Butelman in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It features Magdalena Matthey: vocal Mayquel Gonzalez: trumpet, flugelhorn Luke Howard: piano Alan Plachta: acoustic guitars William Roblejo: violin Ben Robertson: acoustic bass Alex Pertout: bongos, congas, maracas, vibes, pandero, timbales, percussion, loops, synthesizers
On ‘LEJOS DE TI (Far Away From You)’ Pertout showcases a softer side of his songwriting and percussive talents. I defy anyone not to sway your way into a reflective state of mind, listening to this captivating performance, particularly by the dreamy vocal presentation from Magdalena Matthey.
“Since childhood, boleros have captivated me,” Explains Pertout. “Their melancholic beauty, their lyrics brimming with raw emotion, their alchemy of transforming heartache into something sublime. My father would often play Trio Los Panchos, their vast repertoire filling my teenage years, those melodies became entrenched in touching stories of love and longing. Inspired by my Latin American roots, I begun to study percussion and discovered the wonderful and rich musical soundscape that my vast continent embraces. That first enchantment, alive in me still, decades on.
The recording of my latest album began in Cuba, that inspirational land of boundless musical treasures with my heartfelt bolero-afro. In Havana, working with my regular collaborator, highy-regarded engineer Alfonso Peña, we captured the remarkable trumpeter Mayquel González who features prominently in the song, as well as violinist William Roblejo. The journey continued in Buenos Aires, where my friend Alan Plachta contributed his exquisite touch on an array of acoustic guitars, his performance deeply connected to the song’s essence. Finally, in Santiago, Chile, with the invaluable assistance of multiinstrumentalist Pedro Villagra, I had the privilege of inviting the outstanding vocalist Magdalena Matthey to take part. She delivered a flawless, stirring interpretation, a stunning performance that brought the melody and lyric to their fullest emotional heights.
Back in Melbourne, Australia, I was joined by my brilliant colleagues, pianist Luke Howard and bassist Ben Robertson, both adding their exceptional artistry to the project. The percussion elements, which I recorded in my own studio, feature a rich tapestry of textures including vibraphone, bongos, congas, pandero and a set of cherished maracas with a special significance. Beyond being essential to this rhythmic style, they were purchased by my dear father in the port city of Cristóbal, Panama, as we sailed on our voyage from Chile to Italy aboard the motonave Giuseppe Verdi in 1971.
The final mix was completed with further contributions from engineer Peña in Madrid, Spain, while in my own studio, I was assisted by Luciano Scaglio. Legendary engineer Ted Jensen mastered the song at Sterling Sound in Tennessee, USA. The cover artwork features a poignant photograph taken by my son Julian Alexander Pertout, an image that beautifully mirrors the song’s emotional core, shot during our time in the stunning coastal city of Viña del Mar, Chile.
May this tender bolero-afro, the first musical postcard from my forthcoming album ‘Viajes’ (Travels), transport you as it does me, through memory’s embrace, toward new and inspiring musical horizons.” – Alex Pertout May 2025

IRON MIND “How You get Down” (Single/Video)
Test Of The Iron Mind LP out June 13 via Last Ride + Flatspot Records
On Tour June + July
With aggressive riffs and a powerful delivery, on their latest single Iron Mind are demanding that you show them “How You Get Down”. The Melbourne hardcore band’s high-energy bursts through heavy bounce, gang vocals, and motivating lyrics. The song is the third release from Iron Mind’s upcoming album, Test Of The Iron Mind, out June 13th on Flatspot Records and Last Ride Records.
Following on from “Test Of The Iron Mind” and “Solitary Realm”, you can watch the video for “How You Get Down”, directed by Iron Mind and Jack Rudder, HERE and stream the track HERE.
Speaking on it, vocalist Sam Octigan shares: “We’ve always been a band that champions scene involvement and contribution. That may have come in the form of a pit call, or a conversation at the merch table. Ultimately, hardcore is music for the youth and as we’re returning as somewhat elder statesmen with this record, we wanted to encapsulate that message in a song that was us speaking directly to the youth, the next generation. ‘Show me how you get down!’ – meaning, we don’t make the rules, we’re not hanging onto the old ways, we want to see the new breed. This is your scene, you create the culture, be empowered to do your thing. We want to be inspired by what you’re doing – so be empowered to do it!”
Breaking out with 2009’s The Sun Has Set EP, followed by their 2011 debut album Hell Split Wide Open, Iron Mind signed to Flatspot Records in 2014 for the release of their self-titled LP. Building up a global name for themselves with intense live sets, they toured with bands such as Turnstile, Terror, No Warning, and Harm’s Way during that time. Shifting down a gear in terms of a full tour schedule and releasing new music, Iron Mind opted to simply play an annual show in their home scene for a number of years, the band returned in 2023 with Assume Your Ultimate Form. Controlled, collected, and motivated, the band thereafter entered the studio to record what would become Test Of The Iron Mind.
Aptly titled, the ten tracks on Test Of The Iron Mind nod to Iron Mind’s history, while clearly written with the band’s contemporary vision. Produced by Otis Bennie (AWOL), recorded by Sam Johnston at The Black Lodge, and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit, the raw energy found on Iron Mind’s past releases is transformed into a massive, crisp sound that still instills a heavy conveyance. With pragmatic lyrics, a sonic fury, and bridging their past and future, Iron Mind’s forthcoming album is set to be their most definitive.
To celebrate the release of their new record, Iron Mind will embark on their first headline tour since 2014! Kicking off in Brisbane on release day, Iron Mind will do a lap of Australia before heading to NZ on what is set to be the biggest tour of their 20-year career. Playing a string of 18+ and All Ages shows, Iron Mind will also headline Burning Hammer Records and Last Ride Records showcases in Brisbane and Newcastle respectively, leading an absolutely massive line-up of the best hardcore bands in Australia right now.

WEDNESDAY ‘Elderberry Wine’ (Single)
Wednesday, the North Carolina rock band led by generational songwriter Karly Hartzman, share a twangy and timeless new single titled ‘Elderberry Wine,’ alongside a video directed by Spencer Kelly.
”Elderberry Wine’ is about the potential for sweet things in life (love, family, success) to become poison if not prepared for and attended to correctly,’ Hartzman explains. ‘Elderberry is known as a healing fruit, and is an ingredient in many tonics and syrups to aid the immune system. One time however, my sister consumed them raw and it immediately induced vomiting. So ‘Elderberry Wine’ is ultimately a love song about creating just the right environment for fulfilment. There’s a delicate balance that needs to be created, especially in love, for two lives to intersect without poisoning each other.’
Wednesday will perform the track and make their awaited television debut tonight on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
‘Elderberry Wine’ is the first taste of new music from Wednesday since the release of their breakthrough album Rat Saw God. The album was one of 2023’s most critically acclaimed releases, landing on year end lists at the New York Times, NPR, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Associated Press, Wall Street Journal, LA Times, The Altantic, The Ringer, The FADER, Paste, Consequence, Stereogum and more.
Wednesday is Karly Hartzman, MJ Lenderman, Xandy Chelmis, Alan Miller, and Ethan Baechtold.
Wednesday – ‘Elderberry Wine’ (Official Music Video)
Of the video, director Spencer Kelly says ‘We shot most of this music video at The Bench, Greensboro’s second-oldest bar and easily one of its most vibrant. On any given day, you’ll find people there from all walks of life swapping stories beneath the music blasting overhead. We came in with some specific scripted scenes, but we wanted to capture the bar as authentically as possible—so everyone you see in the video is a regular, including Karly’s dad, George. This video is a bit of a love letter to places like this, where the sense of community runs deep and the beers are always cold.’

ABOUT REBECCA BLACK:
Rebecca Black is an artist who blazes her own path. An undisputed icon of underground music, fashion, and queer art scenes, her creativity is an expansive, unstoppable force. Amid collabs with Slayyyer, MØ, bbno$, and more, Black released her first project “Rebecca Black Was Here” in 2021, which led to performances at the GLAAD Awards and Tamron Hall. Nearly a decade since her iconic cameo in Katy Perry’s video for “Last Friday Night”, Black continues to make pop-culture appearances in videos for Blu de Tiger, Amy Allen, and more. During NYFW, Billboard proclaimed her one of the “ultimate cool girls”, alongside King Princess and Hayley Williams – a testament to her new era as a young adult artist.
At 13, Black skyrocketed from music theatre kid to viral sensation with her 2011 hit Friday, which amassed over 150 million views and became the year’s fastest growing video. With a RIAA Gold Certification, a YouTube No. 1, and a Teen Choice Award under her belt, Black marked the 10th anniversary of Friday with an internet-breaking remix featuring hyperpop royalty Dorian Electra, Big Freedia, and 3OH3!, signalling her evolution to an electronic-infused pop polymath.
In 2022 and 2023, Black celebrated her debut album: “Let Her Burn” and embarked on her sold out debut headline tours in North America and Europe, followed by a packed DJ set at Coachella and appearances at Pride festivals in Los Angeles, Chicago, and several other cities. Seamlessly bridging the underground and the mainstream with her new sound, Rebecca Black proves she’s one of the most forward-thinking, electrifying pop artists of our time. Beyond the music, the singer, songwriter, and creator advocates for anti-bullying, mental health initiatives, and the LGBTQ+ community, making a difference for her audience through partnerships with the AdCouncil, GLAAD, and Best Buddies. One year after coming out, Rebecca Black proudly received the honour of joining Variety’s Power of Pride 2021 list.
Rebecca Black launches headfirst into 2025 with her new project SALVATION: proceeding hedonistic, confident bangers that cascade through electronic sounds; drifting from synth-driven confessionals and also pulling back into four-on-the-floor techno mayhem. The bold, playful yet personal lyrics offer a twist on the pop-dance genre and will be sure to cause outbreaks on dancefloors. Rebecca Black will bring SALVATION on tour across North America, the UK, and Europe – kicking off with a sold-out show on March 4th in Seattle and wrapping back in the US on April 5th in St. Paul, Minneapolis. After the tour, Black is set to bring SALVATION to summer festivals in 2025, promising high-energy, euphoric performances. The announcement followed her recent internet-erupting DJ Sets such as a Boiler Room debut showcasing her spellbinding energy and hypnotic stage presence, as well as a record-breaking set on the streets of San Francisco amazing over 20,000 attendees.
Over the course of her trailblazing career, Rebecca Black has earned critical acclaim for her unrelenting presence in pop culture. A one-woman force who’s in control of her own image, Black achieves her big-budget pop sound through a DIY lens. Working independently with fellow creatives as collaborators, Black complements her slick, futuristic hits with expressive visuals that amplify her music by portraying the deeper messages of her songwriting.
MERCI, MERCY I Bet She’s Really Nice’ (Single) and announce ’Don’t Take It To Heart’ Album (Out 29 August)
Sydney based alt-pop singer-songwriter merci, mercy today announces her stunning debut album Don’t Take It To Heart out 29th August, alongside the release of emotive new single ‘I Bet She’s Really Nice’.
Don’t Take It To Heart explores the human condition and all its beauty, flaws and all. The debut is shaped by merci, mercy’s lived experience with relationships of all kinds: platonic, romantic and the one we have with ourselves.
Working with collaborators Chris Collins, Milku and Robby De Sa throughout this process, merci, mercy presents the truest version of herself across the record – well aware that sadness and happiness are two sides of one’s same coin, Don’t Take It To Heart is unafraid to mix fun in with darker tones.
Today’s release ‘I Bet She’s Really Nice’ encapsulates the feelings of jealousy that weave their way into our subconscious, sometimes even in the most stable of relationships. When it comes to merci, mercy and the memory of a partner’s ex, the fantasies of this person offer up scenarios many listeners can likely relate to; whether it be platonic or romantic.
“My partner and I have been together for four years, and for some reason I still think about his ex sometimes, and if he would ever go back to her, even though that would never happen. Ever. There is no indication that he would ever do that, but still…it’s like, “Oh I bet you still think she’s super pretty and I bet you still love her.” In fact though, it’s just all my own insecurities; that I don’t think I’m good enough. Therefore, I’m making him feel like he loves somebody else, even though he thinks I’m fantastic.”
– merci, mercy
Today’s announcement marks another major milestone for merci, mercy, following a standout year that saw the release of the shimmering self-worth anthem ‘The Word Love’ and the unapologetic, bad-bitch banger ‘Angel’—which claimed the #1 spot as the most played song on triple j. She also wrapped a sold-out national tour, headlining packed rooms in both Sydney and Melbourne.
Earlier singles from the upcoming album, ‘Cigarettes In The Dark’ and ‘Unrecognisable’, have drawn widespread praise from fans and media alike. ‘Cigarettes In The Dark’ premiered on triple j, earned a highlight in Rolling Stone ANZ, and landed coveted placements on Spotify’s New Music Friday (AU/NZ), All New Pop (USA), Ultimate Pop Gaming, as well as Apple Music’s A-List Pop, Heaps Local, and New In Pop, among others.
merci, mercy’s evolution has been on full display across three EPs— no thank you, no thanks (2020), is it me, or is it you? (2022), and Like An Orchid (2023)—with standout tracks like ‘Silver Lining’, ‘Shovel’, ‘Lonely & Horny’, and ‘If You Had Any Friends’ quickly cementing fan-favourite status. With over 27 million streams, she’s earned local love from triple j and international acclaim from BBC Radio 1, Beats 1, and stations across Europe, alongside glowing press from Paper Magazine, Flaunt, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, and NME.
merci, mercy fans can catch her brilliant live set as she supports acclaimed Japanese artist Ayano Kaneko for two unforgettable nights: Friday 13th June at Sydney’s Manning Bar and Sunday 15th June at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club.
merci, mercy’s debut album Don’t Take It To Heart is available to pre-order now on exclusive powder pink vinyl alongside limited-edition merch.

Australian Rock Trio HELLO ENEMY Unleashes New Album “That Goes On There”
Gritty, raw, and unapologetically real, Hello Enemy drops their long-awaited debut album, That Goes On There, delivering a fierce dose of grunge revival with a modern edge. Packed with hook-driven anthems, searing riffs, and emotionally-charged lyrics, the album is a reflection of life lived in the margins — messy, loud, and unfiltered.
The album’s lead single, “A Lot Like You”, released May 6, sets the tone. A punch to the gut with massive guitar riffs, raw, unrelenting vocals, and lyrics that don’t flinch, the track dives headfirst into identity, societal pressure, and the chilling realization that sometimes the enemy is staring back at you in the mirror.
With 15 indie singles already under their belt, a self-funded tour, and airplay on Rock Rage Radio (US), Hello Enemy isn’t waiting for permission — they’re tearing through the walls of the underground with blistering intent. The band blends the dirt-under-the-nails spirit of ‘90s grunge with the urgency of now, drawing influence from legends like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Nirvana, yet forging a sound that is unmistakably their own.
Expect thunderous drums, gritty guitar work, soul-baring vocals, and a lyrical core that refuses to shy away from the truth. That Goes On There isn’t just an album — it’s a battle cry for anyone who’s ever felt unseen, unheard, or unmade.

WE CAME AS ROMANS ‘No Rest For The Dreamer’ (Single)
Fresh off their explosive performance at Welcome To Rockville, metalcore vanguards We Came As Romans have released their brand new single, No Rest For The Dreamer. Debuted live in front of a sea of delighted fans this past weekend, the track continues the band’s powerful new era—first introduced by their previously released anthem Bad Luck —and further sets the stage for the band’s upcoming Bad Luck World Tour.
The track continues the defiant, emotionally charged new chapter the band kicked off with Bad Luck— their first release of 2025— and raises the stakes yet again. Rooted in perseverance, ambition, and the refusal to be broken, No Rest For The Dreamer is a raw and unrelenting anthem for anyone still clawing toward something better.
“This song is for the ones still fighting for their future,” says frontman Dave Stephens. “The ones who can’t sleep because they’re not done yet. It’s about carrying the weight of your past, knowing you’re still not where you want to be—but refusing to stop anyway.”
Built on a pummeling riff and one of the band’s most hauntingly melodic choruses to date, the song’s lyrics confront internal trauma, self-doubt, and the compulsion to run straight into the storm: “So why are you standing in the rain? What do you want to wash away?”
The release follows the huge momentum of Bad Luck, which launched the band’s new 2025 chapter with a thunderous statement of resilience. With a stacked schedule of touring, festival appearances, and more new music ahead, No Rest For The Dreamer is both a battle cry and a brutal reckoning.
We Came As Romans hit the road this July and August for the Bad Luck 2025 World Tour, beginning with a huge North American run on July 22 in Toronto and wrapping August 23 in Detroit, followed by an extensive European/UK leg later this year. North American support includes After The Burial, Currents, and Johnny Booth, with Brand of Sacrifice joining for Europe.
The band will also appear at major festivals Warped Tour, Inkcarceration and When We Were Young, reinforcing their role as one of heavy music’s most vital live acts.

MILLY STRANGE ANNOUNCES SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM, OUT FRIDAY, AUG 8 + NEW SINGLE ‘HORSES’
Milly Strange unveils ‘Horses’, a nostalgic alt-rock song that traces the echoes of youth and grief. The single comes alongside news of her self-titled debut album, out August 8.
On ‘Horses’, Milly Strange traces the threads of nostalgia connected to the loss and grieving of friend Elly captured in the preceding single ‘Ghost’. ‘Horses’ reads like a diary entry,” she explains. “I was feeling particularly melancholy about the years going by. Not many people say they’d go back to high school, but I really would, just to have one more careless day with my best friends. When I close my eyes, I’m there again, in Elly’s room. It’s like time folds in on itself.”
The accompanying visualiser was directed by Aotearoa artist and songwriter Sam Bambery, utilising Super 8 footage to veer away from Milly’s usual Melbourne noir aesthetic. “A détaché from the usual, in search of something warmer and nostalgic” says Sam.
Raised on a rich sonic diet of Johnny Cash, David Bowie, Tom Waits, and Martha Wainwright, Milly’s early influences evolved into a deep reverence for songwriters like PJ Harvey, Angel Olsen, Ora Cogan, Cat Power, Adrianne Lenker, and Sharon Van Etten. Her music thrives on contrasts – light and dark, past and present, beauty and unease, as shown on her upcoming debut album.
“My entire life, I’ve feared people knowing too much about me,” Milly shares. “But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned what’s just for me and what I can give to others. I’ve fucked up and made mistakes. My songs are a kind of explanation, my soft underbelly. It’s when I’m most vulnerable. In saying all this I also love to have a laugh and be silly. That’s what feels true for these particular songs on the album.”
The debut album reveals these tensions in full, weaving sharp emotional honesty with symbolism, vivid imagery, and tender moments of introspection. “Writing these songs felt psychologically and emotionally necessary,” says Milly. “Each one helped me give form to a part of myself I wasn’t ready to confront in real life.”
Having captivated audiences in Melbourne’s underground, performing alongside The Slingers, Peter Bibby, Caitlin Harnett & the Pony Boys, and Queenie, as well as sold-out shows of her own the five-piece outfit is poised to cast the same spell on international stages.

NICK LITTLEMORE & LADYHAWKE ‘A.A.’ (Single)
Nick Littlemore & Ladyhawke resurrect cult indie-dance project Teenager, release alt-pop anthem ‘A.A.’ and announce forthcoming ‘Fourteen’
Teenager, the cult indie-dance project from Nick Littlemore (Empire of the Sun, PNAU) and Ladyhawke returns, bringing with them a wave of synths and future-facing electro-pop with the announcement of their forthcoming release, Fourteen, and alt-pop anthem ‘A.A.’
Nick Littlemore and Ladyhawke first collaborated under the Teenager moniker for 2006’s Thirteen, and have since gone on to achieve incredible things independently, with Ladyhawke garnering critical acclaim for her self-titled debut album and Nick Littlemore amassing an impressive catalogue of music as one half of Empire of the Sun and a driving force behind PNAU, as well as his extensive production credits from working with icons like Elton John, Dua Lipa, Troye Sivan and even Cirque du Soleil.
Amidst this creative outpouring, the bond between the pair never waned and they continued to collaborate, writing and recording songs between projects and at times from opposite sides of the world, meaning that this long-awaited collection of songs is almost two decades in the making.
The first single from the project, ‘A.A.’, weaves dark lyrical themes through infectious pop hooks and uplifting melodies—blending Nick Littlemore’s iconic production with Ladyhawke’s unmistakable voice.
On the meaning behind the song, Nick Littlemore says “We are all isolated, we are all dejected, but weirdly that’s what links us all. Connected by the universal suffering, everyone is touched by that and no one is spared.”
Teenager was formed in 2004 by Nick Littlemore (PNAU and Empire of the Sun) and featured the then emerging talent of Kiwi, Pip Brown, who later became known globally as Ladyhawke.
The band released their debut album, Thirteen, in 2006, which was characterised by a blend of danceable beats and punk rock influences. Recorded across studios in Sydney, London, New York, Paris and Los Angeles, the album featured hits like ‘Pony’ and ‘Bound and Gagged’, which showcased their unique and energetic style. Partly due to Nick Littlemore’s DIY ethos as well as its collaborators from Sonic Youth, Van She, Luke Steele, The Birthday Party and The Presets, the album found cult status in the UK, US and Australia.
Despite their promising start, the band was short-lived by their own preeminent success. By 2007, Pip Brown was focussed on her solo career as Ladyhawke, releasing her debut self-titled album in 2008, boasting synth and electro-pop classic gems like ‘My Delirium’ & ‘Paris Is Burning’. Similarly, Nick Littlemore returned to his work with PNAU, and soon after formed Empire of the Sun with Luke Steele, through which his distinctive artistic vision produced globally renowned genre-defying songs like Empire of the Sun’s ‘Walking On A Dream’, ‘We Are The People’ and ‘Alive’ as well as PNAU’s ‘Go Bang’, Elton John & Dua Lipa’s ‘Cold Heart’ (PNAU remix) and Troye Sivan’s ‘You Know What I Need’.
Now, with over a decade of songs written between friends from around the world, Nick Littlemore has crafted a new body of work that’s dynamic, eclectic and true to the band’s enduring ideology, with 2025’s Fourteen embracing the authenticity and spontaneity of Teenager.

DEAD MALL announce debut album ‘SUPERLIMINAL’, release hard-hitting title track
Newcastle punks Dead Mall have had a busy start to 2025. After reemerging with ‘GASOLINE’, their first single in 2 years, Dead Mall are a very different band from where they started. With 2 singles under their belt, the band have shown a clear intent to move into new sonic territory.
Today they release their new single ‘SUPERLIMINAL’, along with the announcement of their debut album of the same name – set for release on the 21st of August.
The 11 track LP was recorded, engineered and mixed by the band’s guitarist Darcy Long. ‘SUPERLIMINAL’ is a smorgasbord of styles and influences, with the kind of attention to detail and personal touches that are only ever achieved by working ‘in house’. A collection of up-tempo power jams that demonstrate their hardcore roots, as well as incorporating elements of alt-rock, nu-metal, hip hop and electronica. The result is a punk rock soup where any song could fit seamlessly onto any ‘Tony Hawk Pro Skater’ or ‘Burnout’ soundtrack.
The album’s title track ‘SUPERLIMINAL’ is the bands most melody-forward offering yet, with vocal hooks coming from every direction, and a quick-fire, drop-tuned riff that makes you want to drive your skateboard at 120Kms. Lyrically, the song looks at the state of media – and their influence over opinion, and relationships.
“‘SUPERLIMINAL’ at its core is about how different political values can affect relationships. It’s about how media outlets exploit people’s anxieties for ratings, and turn people against each other in the process.”
DEAD MALL
Released alongside the track is a music video, directed by frequent collaborator Nikola Jokanovic (who has previously worked with the likes of dust, dogworld, Poltergeist 9000 & Rum Jungle). Nikola and the group set out to film something that captured the energy in the track – and found some sort of performance element was needed to really get that across. Using an array of engaging framing techniques, Jokanovic takes the ‘band video’ to new heights with his own signature style.
“I love working with Dead Mall because they’ll happily let me take a video in any direction and to any weird place we might end up. The energy of Dead Mall’s music somehow manages to make any crazy visual idea I throw at them totally convincing. For this clip, we were aiming to do a classic, performance-style video while making it ‘different’ in some way.
I recently moved to Sydney, where I’m almost directly under a flight path – it’s not uncommon for me to see planes overhead about as low as they appear here, which is how I got the idea for the shots with planes flying overhead. Other than that, we were looking for ways to literalise the lyrics of the song – this is how we got specific shots from ‘half answers’, ‘pulling teeth’, ‘cut ties’, etcetera.” NIKOLA JOKANOVIC
Dead Mall have seen plenty of support since their return earlier this year – with significant support from media, radio and DSPs alike. They’ve seen radio support for both singles from triple J, triple J Unearthed, 4ZZZ, FBi, 2SER, RRR, PBS and more; DSP support from Spotify (with adds to New Music Friday, Local Noise, Fresh Finds AU & NZ, All New Metal and Hardcore Rising), Apple Music (The Riff, All New Rock, Rise Above) and have seen praise from national tastemakers Rolling Stone, The Music, Scenestr, MILKY, Blunt, Happy Mag, Hysteria and more. On the live circuit, the band have previously played with the likes of Trophy Eyes, Whatever, Forever, Honest Crooks, Illnatured, Feel The Pain, Splinter, Terminal Sleep, Peace Ritual and many others.
The band have recently done their own headline shows in Newcastle and Sydney, and will be hitting the stage at the Hamilton Station hotel in Newcastle on the June Long weekend, playing a mini-festival alongside Cry Club, Bad Neighbour, Amends, Jen Buxton and more.

MERPIRE ‘LEAVING WITH YOU’ (Single)
Stream ‘Leaving With You’ | Watch the video
Pre-save / pre-order MILK POOL
Naarm/Melbourne’s MERPIRE aka Rhiannon Atkinson-Howatt (she/her) today shares new single + video ‘Leaving With You‘ – an intoxicating blend of indie/alternative sounds and chromatic dark pop, the latest in her trilogy of singles plunging further into “desire for desire” – this time into an exhilarated, restless space, bursting with the kind of jumpy, ever-climbing emotion that can ripple around the “what if?” of yearning for a crush. Announced ahead of a support slot for Ball Park Music at Metro Theatre in so-called NSW (details below), ‘Leaving With You’ is out everywhere now – listen / watch HERE, and follows equally starry-eyed singles ‘Bigger‘ & ‘Premonition‘ taken from her forthcoming album MILK POOL out 4 July – an album for the romantics, the daydreamers, and those moving through intense periods of change – pre-order on vinyl HERE / pre-save HERE.
“Living for the thrill / Knowing you might want me still”
Co-produced by Merpire and James Seymour (Pillow Queens, Elizabeth M. Drummond, Jacob Diamond), ‘Leaving With You’ is a breathless combination of heady, erratic indie songwriting and chromatic, ascending dark-pop featuring featuring inner-monologue verses and a dreamy pre-chorus that kicks into desperate vocals, head-bang-worthy drums and searing guitars with instrumentation from Merpire, Seymour and Jess Ellwood (Julia Jacklin, Alex Lahey, Rowena Wise). Its late 90s/early 00s-esque video – directed by Brooke Painter (Heathers: The Musical, Urinetown) with a cameo from good friend Ruby Gill – captures the feeling of being completely energised and overtaken by the joyous-yet-jittery electromagnetism of a crush that just might be mutual, trying desperately not to be too obvious just in case – staying up all night, waiting around for that text, “living for the thrill”. Of the single, Merpire shares “‘Leaving With You’ is about those feelings you get around a crush when you have an inkling they feel the same way: the wonder if they’ll turn up to the party you’re at is both unnerving and exhilarating, you’re not sure if you’re hiding it well, nothing fills you with more energy than your crush being in your vicinity. You think about going home, you’re tired, but then they turn up and suddenly you could stay all night, living in this space where the probability between hooking up with them and not hooking up with them is equal.”
WATCH: Merpire – ‘Leaving With You’
Fluid and metaphysical as the tides, MILK POOL is for the romantics, the daydreamers, and those moving through intense periods of change – a dark-pop album punctuated by unconventional rhythms and chord choices, provocative guitar, moody synths and vivid imagery, its title representing “the murky fluidity of the action [she] took to create it”. Written at a crossroads in Merpire’s life where she felt called to make huge changes, including stepping away from her achievements as a founder of live music streaming series ISOL-AID during the pandemic – an effort she began to bolster the struggling artist community which featured 146+ artists incl. Angie McMahon, Courtney Bartnett, Sarah Blasko etc – and from interpersonal relationships, MILK POOL was recorded at Melrose Place on Wurundjeri Country with production by Merpire, James Seymour (Pillow Queens, Elizabeth M. Drummond, Jacob Diamond), and contributions via James Dring (Nilüfer Yanya, Genesis Owusu, Porches) and Elizabeth M. Drummond, mixed by Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding, Perfume Genius). MILK POOL’s themes – diving into the unknown, sexuality & pure crush, home in community, putting the final stitches over past traumas, restlessness, rediscovery of self and values – echo Merpire’s lived experiences, intentionally written to eddy & swirl in meaning depending on the listener – without ever losing her trademark sense of humour, buoyed by the human connection we share & a deep romanticism for people, places and how they inevitably change over time, featuring instrumentation via Merpire (vocals, acoustic & electric guitar, synths, tambourine), James Seymour (backing vocals, piano, ukulele, electric guitars, bass, programmed drums, synths, percussion), James Dring (electric guitars, bass, drums, beats and percussion), Elizabeth M. Drummond (backing vocals, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, programmed drums, synths, bass), Jess Ellwood (drums) & Jeremy Gara (drums, percussion) – the result of an artist reclaiming her body, her joy and her desire.
A self-described “child-like at heart” lover of daydreams, dogs and unconventional songwriting with over 1.3 million streams on Spotify alone, who counts the likes of Angie McMahon among her long-time supporters, Merpire’s enthralling lyric-forward dark-pop draws from the familiar and the unknown in equal measures, with a filmic sense of whimsy and grit – sitting somewhere between the off-kilter cult favourites of romance, horror and comedy – underpinned by subtext profound enough to stop you in your tracks. The universe of Merpire – first glimpsed through her Endless Chatter EP (2018), expanded via her debut album Simulation Ride (2021) released via ADA to debut at #8 on the AIR Independent Label Album Charts with praise across her discography from triple j – across Mornings, Prism, Home & Hosed, Weekend Breakfast and beyond – BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders’ Future Artists, NPR, La Blogothèque, CLASH, NME, The Sunday Times, Sounds Australia, Line of Best Fit, Rolling Stone, frankie magazine, The Music, Music Feeds, Tone Deaf, The AU Review, Far Out Magazine UK, Backseat Mafia UK, Atwood Magazine US, Ramona Magazine, Happy Magazine, Women In Pop, AAA Backstage, This Song Is Yours, Reverie AU, Steven Ray Morris’ See Jurassic Right podcast, with MILK POOL’s singles ‘Premonition‘ and ‘Bigger‘ collectively receiving adds at triple j Unearthed (‘Bigger’ featured as Track of the Day, remaining in Popular Tracks for a month), Double J (peaking @ #13 Most Played, featured 5 weeks in a row), rage, SYN, 2SER, Edge Radio, Radio Adelaide and major metro community radio support including feature album on Double J and SYN (Simulation Ride) and DSP playlisting with Spotify’s Tapestry, Fresh Finds AUNZ, sad indie girl sh*t, New Music Friday AUNZ, Mellow Days, Apple Music’s indie + chill, New in Indie and more – plunges into caverns and depths unexplored with MILK POOL.
Merpire’s shows are described as an “emotional rollercoaster” – moving between intimate pop ballads and fully immersive alt-indie heart-shakers, made all the more engaging by her instinctive approach to guitar. Most recently performing a single launch for ‘Premonition’ at Naarm’s The Tote & Brunswick Music Festival’s 3x-sold-out event At The Altar Of Us with Ruby Gill and Porpoise Spit, an intimate evening celebrating queer storytelling and songs at Brunswick Uniting Church – one of the first churches in so-called Australia to start accepting queer marriage – also appearing on stage at album launches of Ruby Gill & Bec Sykes and supporting Los Bitchos earlier this year, Merpire’s mesmeric craft and stage presence has seen her support Julia Jacklin, Angie McMahon, Pillow Queens (IE), Spacey Jane, Hockey Dad, James Bay (UK) and many more, boasting three UK & Ireland tours in as many years featuring a sold-out London headline show, a mammoth 2024 featuring three national tours with Fanning Dempsey National Park, Magic Dirt, Bombay Bicycle Club and more including slots at high-profile festivals like A festival called PANAMA, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival (with RAT!hammock), Woodford Folk Festival, Bass in the Grass, mentorships with Andy Bull, Ainslie Wills and beyond.

WLSON RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE ‘THE WAY’
Possessing the kind of voice that stops you in your tracks, WILSN, aka Shannon Busch, makes classic soul music with a contemporary approach and a healthy dose of raw power. Today, the Melbourne-based soul-pop queen unveils a taste of the new material she’s been working on, in ‘The Way’. A joyful, pop-infused, warm-hug of a song, ‘The Way’ is the perfect introduction to WILSN’s new era, recorded in the heart of New York City’s soul scene.
“‘The Way’ is about the feeling of having a positive person in your life, after being deprived of it in past relationships and how it lifts you up. Nothing too complex to it really – just an overwhelming feeling of positivity and good vibes.
To celebrate the release of ‘The Way’, WILSN has announced she’ll be playing two FREE entry shows – The Punters Club in Naarm/Melbourne on Friday June 13 and The Pleasure Club in Eora/Sydney on Saturday June 21. And to really get this new era started right, she’ll be bringing a horn section along with her regular live band! Catch WILSN raising the roof – these shows are truly not to be missed.
Originally hailing from Geelong in Victoria, WILSN moved to Melbourne to study jazz at the Victorian College of the Arts. She signed a deal with US publisher Pulse, prompting a move to America, where she spent two years working with Grammy-Award winning songwriters honing her craft, before being asked to join The Teskey Brothers on their 2020 tour of Europe and the UK, playing to sold-out crowds across the continent.
Since the release of her debut album, Those Days Are Over, in 2023 – a record bursting with jaw-dropping vocal performances and fusing modern soul, pop, jazz and Motown – it’s been a big couple of years for WILSN. Her debut album won the AIR Award for Best Independent Soul/RnB Album or EP and was also nominated for the Australian Music Prize, she’s sung alongside Jimmy Barnes and Budjerah and shared the stage with contemporary heroes like Allen Stone, she’s played at Bluesfest two years in a row, and once again supported The Teskey Brothers on an extensive Australian tour. Alongside her success as WILSN, she’s also been amassing praise as a songwriter, winning the 2025 Vanda and Young Global Song Competition with ‘Give You Love’, a song she co-wrote for Jessica Mauboy and Jason Derulo.
For the next chapter in her story, WILSN is keen for her music to capture an authentic soul sound. Uplifting and completely charming, ‘The Way’ does just that.

SAN FRANCISCO/MELBOURNE ALT-POP ARTIST & PRODUCER ROHAN RECKONS WITH A TOXIC LOVE ON UNINHIBITED POP-PUNK-TINGED “FIZZY”
Melbourne/San Francisco alt-pop artist & producer ROHAN reckons with a reckless love as it finally fizzles out on the pop-punk-infused “Fizzy” out today with its matching visualizer. On his latest break-up anthem, loud and uninhibited, the artist captures the good, the bad, the calm and the messy of a relationship meeting its dramatic end. OUT NOW–LISTEN & WATCH
Blending pop-punk, alt-pop and R&B, “Fizzy” features drums by celebrated American drummer Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta, Lizzo, Thundercat), which came together during a late-night jam session in ROHAN’s Melbourne home studio. Reflecting on the track falling into place while working with Pridgen, the artist shares, “He landed on this drum groove that just snapped everything into place. I brought him into the studio to track the drums properly. His energy on it is wild—it brought the whole thing to life.” The track was partially engineered by Scott McDowell (Ty Segall, The Head And The Heart), mixed by Brian Cruz (Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, Giveon) and mastered by John Greenham (Billie Eilish, Gracie Abrams, Lady Gaga).
With a nostalgic undertone, “Fizzy” brings ROHAN back to his roots. Speaking on the track’s influences, ROHAN says, “The guitars and bass really draw from my punk-pop influences; Green Day, Skegss, Beach Goons and Beach Bunny. Being away from my band in California, I wanted it to feel like I was back in rehearsal, just jamming and letting it bleed.”
Watch “Fizzy” (Official Visualizer)
Working with director Mark Kohr (Green Day, Shakira, Alanis Morissette) was a dream come true for ROHAN. The musician shares, “The concept was simple: Thomas and I jamming in a bar, surrounded by empty wine bottles—a nod to the fights, the highs, the overindulgence. The feeling that something’s about to combust.”
Last month, after receiving encouragement via TikTok from Beabadoobee, ROHAN shared the confessional “I Wish I Could Tell You” where he yearns for closure over a hooky guitar loop. Several tastemakers praised the track, including Unheard Gems, who wrote, “a refreshingly honest approach to bedroom pop..feels both familiar and uniquely his own.” Envi Media added, “Sepia toned distant love crooned from 2000s John Mayer, Gin Blossoms and 2020s keshi, and Dominic Fike.” On the visual, From The Intercom added, “The visuals match the raw sound of the song with cool tones and nostalgic cinematic views.” The track was added to Spotify’s Fresh Finds in Australia and New Zealand, and Apple Music’s heartache playlist.

ROHAN was raised by Indian parents between Australia and Singapore and was introduced to music through Australian Idol and Green Day’s American Idiot. After high school, he moved to California and attended Stanford to continue exploring his love for technology and music. Recently opening for Devon Again proved to be a cathartic moment as the pop artist was a shared love of ROHAN and his former love. Now, out of his own studio in San Francisco and pulling inspiration from Australian indie rock bands like Skeggs, 90s R&B like Lauryn Hill and contemporary pop artists like Dominic Fike, he’s ready to officially introduce himself with his own blend of Australian indie rock with R&B, electronic and folk influences that form his self-produced confessional alt-pop anthems. Earlier this year, ROHAN supported Chappell Roan’s favorite pop artist, Devon Again at her sold out San Francisco show.
Unfiltered and fiery, ROHAN faces a romance that has finally fizzled out on “Fizzy” out now. Connect with ROHAN on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube and stay tuned for much more to come from the rising artist.
ABOUT ROHAN
ROHAN was an Australian kid with big dreams. It’s thanks to his Indian mum that he picked up the piano; the rest is history. His subsequent love for punk via Green Day’s American Idiot led him to exploring computers and fronting bands out of Melbourne & Singapore. He later moved to California to pursue those childhood dreams and dropped out of Stanford to build both his own studio in San Francisco along with a gaming company. The home studio is where he blends the laid-back grit of Australian indie rock with R&B, electronic, and folk into confessional alt-pop anthems. Self-produced and genre-defiant, his songs journal true stories of heartbreak, vices, and self-discovery—fusing raw guitar riffs, sincere vocals, and laptop-crafted loops.

FLYNN GURRY SHARES ROUSING NEW SINGLE + VIDEO DON’T STOP DREAMING
An inspired and energetic folk pop bop, today marks the arrival of a brand new single, Don’t Stop Dreaming, from Aussie singer-songwriter Flynn Gurry, also armed with an accompanying new music video. Penned during some post tour blues, Don’t Stop Dreaming also comes ahead of a special East Coast run of shows through June, with Flynn set to visit Melbourne, Warrnambool, Sydney and Brisbane next month for his first ever headline tour.
Evoking the sparkling melodies of Vance Joy and the exuberance of Mumford & Sons, Don’t Stop Dreaming lyrically opens with introspection before blossoming into a soaring chorus, with Flynn proclaiming, “Don’t stop dreaming now / Don’t stop dreaming now / Keep that fire burning / Let it all pour out”.
Produced by Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe, Meg Mac, Dan Sultan) and Edwin White (Vance Joy, Amy Shark, Fergus James), Don’t Stop Dreaming marks Flynn’s first single to be released via his new home at ABC Music, while also ultimately detailing the highs and lows of life on the road – and finding the spark to keep moving forward when the post tour blues inevitably come. “This song was written post-comedown from my first big tour,” shares Flynn. “The last show I had played on that tour is still one of my most memorable shows and I had begun writing the lyrics in the green room whilst the headline band was playing. Feelings of bittersweet. There was a period after that tour where I spent a lot of my time wondering what was next because essentially, I had ticked off a very important bucket list moment – and the chorus came from this place. Ultimately this song is a reminder to myself to not stop dreaming, reminding me to keep pushing and not forget the little person with his guitar just wanting to play the fuck out of it in front of people.”
Co-written by Brad Arthur, mixed by Phil Threlfall (Ed Sheeran, Pierce Brothers) and mastered by Andrei Eremin, Don’t Stop Dreaming also brought Flynn creatively together with Michael Peters (Nike, Alfa Romeo) and Patrick Pierce (Cat Empire, Alice Ivy) on the visual side, with the end result organically emerging during the photo shoot for the single’s cover artwork. “The concept for the music video came to Michael and myself as we were shooting the single cover which is me running up a hill,” Flynn explains. “The narrative of the clip became about being playful and remembering our dreaming inner-child. My nephew, who looks very much like me when I was younger, portrays a younger Flynn in the music video. The young self is reminding the present self not to lose that playful energy and curiosity that that got you excited about life in the first place.”
Hailing from Warrnambool in Victoria, Flynn Gurry has spent the past few years rapidly making waves in the Australian music industry, most recently signing to Cult Artists for bookings and Woolstore Music, the management company helmed by beloved indie folk duo Pierce Brothers, and also inking a deal with ABC Records. Following a remarkable few years supporting the likes of Ian Moss, King Stingray, Ash Grunwald and Kim Churchill, Flynn also won the triple j Unearthed One Night Stand competition in 2024, which saw him perform alongside G Flip, Ruel, What So Not, Thelma Plum and more at their event in Warrnambool. Shortly after, Flynn became a triple j Unearthed feature artist, going on to support The Dreggs on a national tour, and closed out 2024 performing at Beyond The Valley Festival. And with 2025 now firmly in full swing, Flynn has already ticked off a national tour with Pierce Brothers, was named Port Fairy Folk Festival’s ‘Emerging Artist of the Year’, and has also supported The Dreggs, Kim Churchill, The 502s, and DICE.
With word of mouth around his live shows and his ongoing releases turning heads, 2025 will also find Flynn levelling up to tick off his first ever headline tour this June, kicking off on June 6 in Northcote before heading to Warrnambool and Sydney, and concluding proceedings in Brisbane on June 21. “This will be my first ever tour, so I’m really excited to be playing headline shows in major cities that I’ve not headlined in before,” enthuses Flynn. “I’ve been touring quite a lot the last 18 months opening up for some of the best live acts in the country and feel like I’ve been able to learn so much about connecting with your audience and putting on a great show. Audiences can expect lots of songs, stories and 12 string guitar.”
And before Flynn’s headline run next month, the world has plenty of time to fall head over heels for Don’t Stop Dreaming; an inspiring and relatable cut that also showcases Flynn at his most realised form to date.
“This feels like such a MOMENT in my career,” says Flynn. “I am really excited for everyone to hear this track because I feel it is my strongest work to date, and I also had the best time making it with such incredible people. The writing of DSD also happened for me at such an important time as it was right after I had finished my first big tour and while I was experiencing the post tour blues wondering what was next this song kind of fell into my lap and has become the inspiration to just keep going and keep dreaming. “
“At the heart I love telling stories, I also love trying to bring lots of energy into a space even if it’s just me and my acoustic guitar.”
Don’t Stop Dreaming is out today via ABC Music.

ESTELLE CONLEY ‘In Time With You’ (Single)
In Time With You is an indie-folk track that explores the bittersweet space between love and letting go. It was produced in Melbourne by the wonderful Rowena Wise and features warm harmonies, acoustic textures, and a whole lot of heart.
Let yourself be whisked away by the enchanting sounds of Estelle Conley, a dreamy folk singer/songwriter hailing from Narrm/Melbourne.
With her heartfelt brand of songwriting and magnetic indie-folk melodies, Estelle’s music will tug at the truth in your heart.
Drawing inspiration from the storytelling prowess of ’60s and ’70s folk legends, Estelle is a keen wordsmith. Her work delves into themes of love, friendship, and yearning, with her sound most fittingly described as indie folk with a touch of country.
As Triple J’s Nkechi Anele put it perfectly: “The music so delicately holds your hand as you travel on a journey through hurt and sadness to the other side.”
Estelle has graced stages across Australia, including at Bondi Festival, Carriageworks, Lazy Bones Lounge, Folkswagon @ Café Lounge, For Folks Sake @ 107 Projects, The Toff, The Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar, Wesley Anne, Shotkickers and more.
She’s also had the pleasure of performing alongside and supporting folk artists such as Julia Johnson, Kay Proudlove, Lady Lyon, Quinny, Heather Fiona, Naomi Diane, Sasha March, Burning Grace, Well Into Winter, and Leroy Lee.
In 2025, Estelle is gearing up to release her next EP, in collaboration with Naarm/Melbourne-based artist and producer Rowena Wise.
Her music is the perfect remedy for even the most savage of beasts—like yoga for the ears.
JENNY MITCHELL‘S STUNNING NEW ALBUM ‘FOREST HOUSE’
ALBUM TOUR COMMENCES JULY 12 TICKETS ON SALE NOW
NEW SINGLE ‘LITTLE LESS LONELY’ AVAILABLE NOW. WATCH VIDEO HERE
Award-winning artist Jenny Mitchell has released her beautiful new album ‘Forest House’ featuring the new single ‘Little Less Lonely’. This is the fourth album for the New Zealand born and Melbourne based singer songwriter and was created with ARIA and Golden Guitar award-winning producer Matt Fell. (Out now)
Receiving rave reviews and recorded in a temporary studio in a house in rural New Zealand, the 12 track album features Jenny’s previous singles,‘Where The Water’s Cold’, ‘Square & Plain’, ‘Heart Like a House’ and the heartwarming ‘Sister’ (featuring her sisters, The Mitchell Twins) while listeners will find grit in ‘Wives Who Wait’ and insight into Jenny’s country roots in ‘No Cash, No Meal’.
Having crafted a set of songs that is intimate, emotional, heartbreaking and uplifting, the acclaimed storyteller was determined that these new tracks would reach a new level of quality and consistency on this release. Jenny explains, “Forest House is an album of songs that reflect everything that happens within the four walls of a house. The new beginnings, the leaving. The opening, closing or slamming of doors. The good, the bad, the nostalgic and everything in between. Produced by Matt Fell, Forest House was absolutely the best and most connected recording experience I’veever had. I spent months searching for a house that we (the band, my sisters, Dad and I) could all stay in and somewhere that would fit a DIY studio. I ended up finding the perfect spot, bunk beds and all, in rural Wairarapa in New Zealand and we spent a week there together, surrounded by beautiful birds and bush, bringing these songs to life.”
‘Little Less Lonely’ is the fifth single lifted from the album with Jenny confirming the track is “a song about empathy. It always felt like the opening of Forest House and included three characters, and perspectives, feeling different kinds of loneliness.”
The NZ Best Country Artist winner and two-time Golden Guitar nominee recently announced her Australian ‘Forest House’ headline tour for July with shows in Canberra, Bathurst, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Central Coast andNewcastle. Tickets are on sale now at jennymitchell.co.nz/tour
Jenny is currently on a national tour with Kasey Chambers and is scheduled to perform at the Gympie Music Muster in August following the conclusion of her album tour.
ABOUT JENNY MITCHELL:
Having carved herself a strong following in both her home country of New Zealand and here in Australia, Jenny Mitchell’s forthcoming ‘Forest House’ album release follows a busy past year for Jenny which included the release of her singles ‘Where The Water’s Cold’, ‘Square & Plain’, ‘Sister’, a performance at the Groundwater Country Music Festival on the Gold Coast and a tour support slot with Australian country star Adam Harvey across NSW. Jenny also received a scholarship from the Australian Academy of Country Music and Sister Cities Nashville, to perform at Nashville’s iconic AmericanaFest and co-write with Nashville locals in September last year and has been the special guest for Kasey Chambers on her national tour since early 2025.
Originally from Gore, Jenny’s musical upbringing was firmly planted in country but her songwriting and material is a unique blend of folk, Americana and country. After winning the NZ Gold Guitar Award at just 18, Jenny has steadily carved herself a place in the New Zealand and Australian music scenes. Her 2022 album ‘Tug Of War’ earned her a legion of new fans in Australia, showcasing her emotive songwriting. With an Aotearoa Music Award and 2 x Australian Golden Guitar nominations under her belt, the future is bright and bold for this unique artist.

US ARTIST CAUTIOUS CLAY SHARES NEW ALBUM THE HOURS: MORNING
OUT NOW VIA CONCORD RECORDS. LISTEN TO ALBUM HERE
SHARES FOCUS TRACK ‘PROMISES (9AM)’ WATCH HERE
Anchored in mood, meaning, and meticulous craftsmanship, the project arrives with focus track ‘Promises (9am)’, which is accompanied by a mesmerising visualizer – watch here. The song – nearly a decade in the making – has evolved through over 80 versions since 2017, standing as a testament to Cautious’ perfectionism and patience as a songwriter.
The album follows a string of acclaimed singles including “Father Time (10am),” “Tokyo Lift (5am),” and “No Champagne (6am)” which have earned press praise from Hypebeast, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Vibe and more.
Cautious Clay ushers in a new phase with The Hours: Morning, a conceptual eight-track project that’s equal parts mixtape and emotive timetable, exploring the feeling, color, and emotional landscape of each morning hour.
Beyond his own artistry, Cautious has established himself as a highly sought-after songwriter and producer, collaborating with Billie Eilish, John Mayer, John Legend, Khalid, Kavinsky, Melanie Martinez, Remi Wolf, and most recently, Tycho.
The project was conceived after Cautious Clay relocated from New York to Philadelphia, prompting a creative shift that would inform the tone, pacing, and structure of The Hours: Morning. There, in a new environment, he carved out daily rituals and leaned into a more fluid, intuitive creative process – one that allows this project to live between the precision of pop, the fluidity of jazz, the texture of indie rock, and the vulnerability of alt-R&B.
“I wanted to create something that felt like a reflection of what mornings are emotionally – how they can be quiet, restless, hopeful, even tense,” says Karpeh. “Each track is a snapshot of a different feeling I’ve experienced during those early hours, and I built the project to flow with the rhythm of the morning itself.”
The Hours: Morning follows Cautious’ 2023 full-length KARPEH, an autobiographical jazz-influenced record that explored heritage, family, and identity, earning widespread acclaim and further cementing his place as one of today’s most dynamic voices in independent music.
His 2021 debut album Deadpan Love received glowing reviews from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Fader, PAPER, and others, praised for its nuanced, soulful exploration of emotional complexity and modern connection. His earlier EPs Resonance and Table of Context helped launch his reputation as a thoughtful and forward-thinking artist, always balancing introspection with innovation.
Now, with The Hours: Morning, Cautious Clay continues to evolve – blurring genre lines while deepening his artistic identity. It’s a confident, exploratory project that captures the subtle transitions of the early day, while also signalling a new dawn in his own musical journey.
From the quiet stirrings of dawn to the charged energy of mid-morning, The Hours: Morning isn’t just a record – it’s a ritual.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH “20 Years Of Five Finger Death Punch – Best Of Volume 1”
Out July 18 via Better Noise Music. New Single “I Refuse” Ft. Maria Brink — Out Now
The Album Includes Re-Recorded Classics and Three Previously Unreleased Live Tracks
Multi-platinum hard rock powerhouse Five Finger Death Punch are celebrating their 20th anniversary with the release of “Best Of – Volume 1”, a collection of re-recorded versions of their most iconic chart-topping songs. This move comes in response to the recent sale of the band’s original master recordings by their former label, an action made without their knowledge or the opportunity to reclaim their own work.
Founding guitarist Zoltan Bathory says: “We would have loved to have a shot at reclaiming our masters, or at least to be involved in the transaction but we found out after the fact. Surprised, but not surprised. These kinds of behind closed doors deals have become far too common in the music industry. Labels buy, sell or trade artist’s work without their knowledge or consent, reducing them to soulless commodities. But life is a chess game so when this happened to Taylor Swift, she responded by re-recording her catalog. After that respectably bold move, her fans switched to streaming the new version out of protest and loyalty. We have one of the most hardcore and loyal fan bases on the planet so I know our fans will do the same.”
Coincidentally, this year marks the band’s 20th anniversary, and they were already thinking about how to commemorate two decades worth of music, so when this curveball was thrown, they chose to turn it into something positive and powerful. The idea of a remix or remaster wasn’t enough, so the band created a completely re-recorded 2025 edition to honour the songs and the fans who have made them matter by being with Five Finger Death Punch every step of the way.
Five Finger Death Punch emphasised their respect for the original recordings and the people they made them with but are also excited to breathe new life into fan favorites like “The Bleeding” “Bad Company” and “Wrong Side of Heaven” and to share this new chapter with fans around the world.
The first offering from the 20th Anniversary Edition, in a poetic coincidence happens to be titled “I Refuse,” a fan favourite that was always meant to be a single. This reimagined, re-recorded version of “I Refuse,” now features guest vocals from Maria Brink of In This Moment.

CHLOE: THE BRAND RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘SPILL’, OUT NOW
Over the course of a smattering of singles such as ‘Smoker’s Deck’ , ‘Left of Centre’ and ‘Co Star’, Naarm born, Melbourne based musician chloe: the brand has mapped out their very particular vision of pop – lush synths and twinkling pads cushioned by featherlight vocals; airy melodies belying introspective sentiments – imagine Caroline Polachek produced by AG Cook, or Clairo after the werewolf’s bite, and you come close to nailing their distinctive sound.
Continuing the singular, offbeat pop journey of chloe: the brand is the new single ‘SPILL’, a fleet, beautifully catchy track propelled as much by its weirder undercurrents as it is by its gorgeous, brightly scrubbed melodies, even as it celebrates the euphoria of a relationship gone miraculously right – “are you a real or are you just a day drink I bought?” they muse in the chorus. A delicious, delirious love song through and through, ‘SPILL’ nonetheless never teeters into schmaltz or sentimentalism, its uniqueness always subtly highlighted throughout, whether it’s by Chloe’s dreamily diffident vocals or hyperpop production.
ABOUT CHLOE: THE BRAND
Chloe: the brand is a twenty-two-year-old indie pop artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Known for their introspective lyricism and dreamy sonic textures, chloe: the brand has drawn comparisons to alt-pop icons like Mallrat, MUNA, and Lorde.

Jehnny Beth Returns With New Album You Heartbreaker, You
Out August 29th on Fiction Records. Reveals First Taste ‘Broken Rib’. Single out now via Fiction Records
Listen now / Watch Music Video
Songwriter, singer, and multi-disciplinary artist Jehnny Beth is back with her biting new album You Heartbreaker, You, which comes August 29th on Fiction Records. Alongside the announcement Jehnny has also revealed the album’s first cut ‘Broken Rib’. Listen to ‘Broken Rib’ HERE.
With a punch reminiscent of her days in Savages, ‘Broken Rib’ is a powerful raw return. “We learn to breathe with a broken rib” she sings, fighting to keep breathing through the damage, always bouncing back. “I knew that if I was going to sing again, it had to start with a scream,” she says of the track.
‘Broken Rib’ arrives with a powerful visual directed by Jehnny Beth and longtime collaborator Johnny Hostile. A stark, surrealist antidote to societal decay, the video matches the track’s urgency and grit. Watch HERE.
Recorded and produced by longtime co-creator Johnny Hostile at their 20L07 studio in France, You Heartbreaker, You is visceral, abrasive and cathartic.
“We’re living in a dark time, full of drama and barbarous tragedy. It became clear to me that, in these times, we either learn how to scream really well, or we learn how to whisper,” Jehnny says of the record.
Capturing the feeling of being broken in a broken world, where love still operates on a prehistoric level, You Heartbreaker, You is a radical work that cuts straight to the core: heart to heart.
Jehnny Beth – Broken Rib (Official Video)
Known for her ferocious live shows, Jehnny has been announced to support Queens Of The Stone Age at their Rock N Roll Circus Festival in Sheffield on August 27th and 28th. She’ll also play a very special DJ set on the Shangri-La stage at 22:45 on Saturday 28th June at Glastonbury Festival. More info HERE.

DEAN BRADY RELEASES LEAD SINGLE ‘BRAND NEW SMILE’ FROM FORTHCOMING MIXTAPE DEAN’S HOME OUT 31 OCTOBER
Rising Australian R&B artist Dean Brady releases his new single, ‘Brand New Smile’—a candid reflection on vulnerability, perception, and the desire to be truly seen. The track follows last month’s release of ‘Lost to the Moon’, another single from his upcoming mixtape, Dean’s Home, out 31 October.
The track marks another standout release from Brady’s growing catalogue, pairing introspective lyricism with soulful production and effortless vocal delivery. ‘Brand New Smile’ is the result of a creative collaboration with longtime friend and producer Finbar Stuart and co-writer Ruby Jackson, whose contributions helped shape the song’s emotional core.
“One of the first times I wrote with Ruby was on this track,” Brady recalls. “Finn and I already had a version, but honestly, the music wasn’t hitting — it didn’t have the clarity or purpose we needed. Ruby came in, reworked the lyrics, gave it a story, tightened the melodies — and suddenly it felt alive.”
Built around the idea of emotional self-protection and the assumptions people carry into new relationships, ‘Brand New Smile’ captures the moment when past experiences cloud present possibilities. “It’s about meeting someone you really like, and just hoping they see you for who you are — not who they think you’ll be based on someone else,” Brady explains. “The lyric ‘brand new smile, backed up on file’ reflects how guarded people can be, but also how badly we want to break through that guard.”
With an undeniable groove that lingers long after it ends, the track strikes a perfect balance between classic R&B and contemporary pop—a sonic space where Brady continues to define his identity as an artist with both soulful resonance and melodic fluency.
‘Brand New Smile’ is out now on all streaming platforms. Dean’s Home Mixtape is available to pre-save now.
About Dean Brady:
Descended from the Gugu Yalanji and Birrigubba people, as well as the Matabele of Zimbabwe, Dean Brady was born into a musical household — his parents were members of the legendary “outback Motown” group Banawurun, and he grew up with band rehearsals in the living room and his mother singing soul songs while cooking dinner.
As a child, Brady would perform Michael Jackson songs for friends and family; even then, he was tracing the lineage of great soul and R&B artists — from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Frank Sinatra to Usher — all of whom would later influence the distinct voice and style he brings to his own music.
Dean’s Home — Brady’s forthcoming Mixtape out 31 October — is a warm, groove-soaked reflection on love, memory and identity, stitched together by the rising star’s unmistakable voice and soulful instincts. Across twelve tracks, Brady traces a coming-of-age journey — from falling in love for the first time to recognising when something no longer serves you — with a sound that nods to the Motown greats he grew up idolising while carving out a fresh, future-facing space in Australian R&B.

SAM FISCHER returns with with country-tinged anthem ‘MOONSHINE’
Sam Fischer continues to produce beauty through musical expression with his latest single, ‘Moonshine’, out now. Following on from the impactful ‘LOVELIFE’ earlier this year, the Australian songwriting dynamo continues to pull from personal moments of introspection and emotion with this new work.
An exploration of human emotion and the complexities of relationships, ‘Moonshine’ is a fitting addition to Fischer’s catalogue; one that is beloved by many around the world for this heart-led and visceral approach to songwriting and performance.
For ‘Moonshine’, Fischer found himself inspired by time spent in Nashville, writing for different artists as well as himself. Falling in love with a city that has such a rich musical history embedded into it, it is unsurprising that so many musicians consider Nashville a priority – both as a visitor and as a creative looking to collaborate and create new work.
As Fischer explains, “Writing songs is a weird and funny thing because being totally honest, I just really wanted to write a song called ‘Moonshine’ because I thought it would be a great title. I made up a story for it and hopefully when you listen to it, you’re able to relate something from your own life.
It’s a little different for me and leans more into the country world which honestly, was inevitable at some point for me. I’ve been writing in Nashville on and off for the past 8 years and have been in a perpetual honeymoon phase for the whole time. Not only that but I’ve written for Keith Urban, Kane Brown jumped on a remix of ‘This City’ and I’m touring this year around the world with Brett Young, so it was about time I put a song into the world that honours and gives back the immense amount of love I’ve always been shown there. With all that said, time to drink up, cheers to ‘Moonshine !”
With over 2 billion streams, Sam Fischer is easily one of Australia’s most successful songwriters in recent years, becoming a globally renowned artist off the back of his debut track ‘This City’ – a song that became a fast hit: remaining within the UK Top 20 charts for 11 weeks, earning a double-Platinum status in Australia, as well as going triple-Platinum in the UK and NZ, and Gold in North America and Switzerland.
Following this, Fischer’s debut album, I Love You, Please Don’t Hate Me, was a pure moment of arrival and defined Fischer as an expert contemporary pop songwriter. The record propelled Fischer onto the radar of worldwide audiences, with over 895.5 million streams on Spotify alone.
Collaborations with names including Amy Shark, Demi Lovato, Meghan Trainor and most recently, Guy Sebastian on the track ‘Antidote’, reinforced Fischer’s presence as one of Australia’s exciting names and passionate artists to watch. With ‘LOVELIFE’ and now ‘Moonshine’, he continues to chart a beautiful new artistic trajectory.
In May, Fischer will return to Australia, supporting American singer-songwriter and musician, Brett Young.

Following up from the release of “Falling”, The Glamour give us a further preview of their upcoming album with the release of “Gods”. Written by D’Cruz, produced by The Glamour at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne, and engineered and mastered by Aaron Dobos, the track draws on a multitude of influences ranging from Jeff Buckley and David Bowie to Joni Mitchell and Soundgarden.
D’Cruz’s melodic ability immediately captures the listeners attention before being triumphantly joined by the band to demonstrate exactly why they’ve been causing such a stir in the Melbourne live scene. “Inspired largely by Bowie’s “Starman”, where those who are in tune with the frequency of something bigger than ourselves have seen the Starman in the sky”, the new single provides an insight into what makes the band tick while simultaneously feeling as though they’ve created a whole genre of their own.
A registered music therapist specialising in addiction recovery and mental health, D’Cruz’s ability to connect with audiences comes from a “life lived with kindness and a collective consciousness from which all things stem”. His body of artistic work reflects his wider pursuit into understanding the human struggle and celebrating our many methods of survival.”
There could be no better time to rejoin Earth than to see the Glamour in the midst of one of their biggest years to date. With their debut album and a potential tour coming later this year – The Glamour are not to be missed.
