Western Sydney’s fave rockers The Radiators are back on the road and heading to Melbourne this week before travelling back upon north.
“This is one of the hardest working pub rock bands that has been rocking our world for over 40 years now, having played over 5000 gigs they still remain strong and larger than life when it comes to their phenomenal live shows,” said Australian Musician’s Craig Eriksson about the their last live shows in Melbourne.
Formed in in September 1978, The Radiators are one of Australia’s most enduring pub rock bands. The band had great success in the early 80s with albums such as Feel the Heat and Scream of the Real, which both peaked in the top 25 of the Australian albums chart and featured crowd favourites like “Comin’ Home”, “No Tragedy” and “Gimme Head”.
Rock music historian, Ian McFarlane described the group as “an archetypal, hard-working pub-rock band capable of delivering tightly crafted, well-executed, hard-hitting metal-pop anthems backed by a playful sense of humour.” The band tour constantly and have racked up over 5,700 gigs to date.
The band has just released remastered version of Radiology: The Complete Anthology and you can hear most of that album played live on these upcoming shows. Even better news, The Rads have been back in the studio and will soon be releasing new single.
Ahead of their remaining Victorian, NSW and Queensland shows, The Radiators’ guitarist Martin Cilia spoke to Australian Musician editor Greg Phillips about the band’s career, gear and future plans.
