PEACH FUZZ ANNOUNCE EP ‘ISN’T IT OBVIOUS?’ + NEW SINGLE ‘FALL RIGHT BACK TO YOU’ OUT NOW
Naarm/Melbourne indie-rockers Peach Fuzz return with ‘Fall Right Back To You’ – a heart-on-sleeve rock anthem about breakup regret and the ache of wondering if you made the wrong call. It’s the latest taste of their forthcoming EP Isn’t It Obvious?, set for release 17 September, and it lands alongside news of their East Coast tour this October, joined by rising indie-folk star Lottie McLeod.
Built around captivating guitar riffs and bittersweet vocal hooks, ‘Fall Right Back To You’ balances emotional grit with melodic warmth – a love letter to people and relationships left behind, and the gnawing feeling that maybe they’ve moved on quicker than you have. “The lyrics speak to that feeling of remorse and yearning,” the band share. “When you’re unsure if you made the right call.”
The announcement follows a huge year for Peach Fuzz – selling out Northcote Social Club on their debut headline tour, clocking 720,000+ streams/views on breakout single ‘What Do You Want From This’, and scoring slots with Ball Park Music, Mid Drift, Park Rd, and a slot at Beyond The Valley.
The forthcoming EP Isn’t It Obvious? captures the emotional chaos of being young, messy, and constantly second-guessing yourself – all wrapped in catchy guitar riffs and anthemic choruses. From the care-free buzz of ‘Carpool’ to the fiery smile-through-your-tears energy of ‘Wish U Were Never Born’, it’s a collection that invites you to scream, cry, dance, and fall apart in the space of 20 minutes.
“Every song on this EP lets you sing your heart out about some very real and very chaotic emotion you’ve probably had towards someone,” the band explain. “It’s indecisive, emotional, and loud – just like your early 20’s should be.”
The band are taking the EP the road this Octobe, bringing their euphoric live energy to three headline dates. The Naarm/Melbourne indie-rockers will take over Howler (Melbourne, Oct 10), Blute’s (Brisbane, Oct 24), and The Trocadero Room (Sydney, Oct 25), joined by rising indie-folk star Lottie McLeod. With a reputation for wild, fun shows and a sound that blends the grit of garage rock with sun-drenched hooks, Peach Fuzz are fast becoming one of Australia’s most exciting live acts. These shows promise high emotion, louder choruses, and the kind of crowd singalongs you’ll still be hoarse from the next morning.

ST. PAUL & THE BROKEN BONES ANNOUNCE 6TH STUDIO ALBUM, THE SELF TITLED ST. PAUL & THE BROKEN BONES OUT OCTOBER. SHARE FIRST SINGLE AND VIDEO FOR “SUSHI AND COCA-COLA“
St. Paul & The Broken Bones, who NPR Music has hailed as “one of the nation’s best live bands,” announces the release of their 6th studio album, the self-titled St. Paul & The Broken Bones, out on October 10th out via their own label Oasis Pizza Records, distributed by Thirty Tigers. The new album from the ever-evolving Southern-soul giants, signifies both a reinvention and a reunion, stretching out with the confident experimental spirit of The Alien Coast and (2022) and Angels in Science Fiction (2023), but with a warmer, accessible and fun sound that recalls the exuberance and buoyancy of their breakout debut, Half the City (2014). “It’s the outcome of the book we wrote with the last records,” Janeway says, “The self-titled album is what the band is now. I think the band in general feels reignited. I’ve had this conversation with bassist and co-founder Jesse Phillips, who said, ‘I don’t know where we can take this. But we have the opportunity to make any kind of record we want. Before, the band thought, ‘How far can we take it?'” Now? “It’s ‘What is the band great at? What lessons have we learned?’” St. Paul & The Broken Bones is available for pre-order on all formats here.
The band also shares St. Paul & the Broken Bones’s first single, “Sushi and Coca-Cola,” a psych-funk track that shines a light on a moment of domestic bliss. “I was sitting in my living room, drinking a Mexican Coca-Cola and having some sushi—as on-point as it can be—with my wife and little girl,” Janeway recalls. “I felt, ‘Man, this is a great place.’ You know how you have moments that feel like a warm bath’? This is one that me and Eg were writing, and I’d been saving it.’ I just like the way [the title] sang. I think everyone at first thought, ‘That’s weirdly specific.’ Had I just said ‘dinner and a drink,’ that doesn’t do it. We came up with this scenario about having a shit day but finding the comfort in that thing.” Listen to “Sushi and Coca-Cola” here and watch the music video, directed by Mathew Daniel Siskin here.

With the new LP, co-written and produced with the decorated Eg White (Adele, Florence + The Machine, Sam Smith) and tracked with the band – consisting of Janeway, Phillips, guitarist Browan Lollar, drummer Kevin Leon, keyboardist Al Gamble, trumpeter Allen Branstetter, saxophonist Amari Ansari, and trombonist Chad Fisher— at the renowned FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, the band decided to stop pushing so hard and simply focus on classic “song craft.” For Janeway, these 10 thrilling tunes feel like “comfort food,” like hanging out at a “great barbecue joint.”
The album follows 2023’s Angels In Science Fiction and with that vibrant era in the rear view, there was an opportunity to regroup, which resulted in a return to their roots, if through a circuitous path. Janeway started collaborating with a series of co-writers and featured artists, eventually finding the perfect partner in White: a prolific, London-based pop-rock veteran who’s co-written and produced hits with stars like Adele (“Chasing Pavements”) and Celine Dion (“Water and a Flame”). Aided by that expert ear, Janeway finished a batch of new music he was proud of—but he pivoted back to full-band mode in January ’24, regrouping with his old friends at FAME Studios, where they’d mixed their debut, Half the City, over a decade earlier.
It had been several years since they’d written together in this format and the session and Phillips asked an intriguing question: ‘Hey, man, can I hear some of the stuff you wrote with Eg White?” Janeway was initially reluctant to bring this music “into the band sphere,” but his co-founder convinced him otherwise. They dusted off some of those tracks, melding them with the new group-written material, “Basically our philosophy for the record was ‘best song wins,'” the frontman says.
The resulting songs felt like a comforting hug, lived in, confident, and fun. “Fall Moon,” includes a rippling Hammond organ and nostalgic brass; the bluesy “I saw the light” with a chorus of the swaggering “Ooo-Wee”; the stabbing electric keys and signature falsetto sweetness on “I Think You Should Know”; the deep-pocket bass and growling hooks on “Nothing More Lonely”; the breezy slice-of-life that is “Seagulls,” St. Paul still branches out in subtle ways stretching out the experimental muscles the band has developed over the years.
With St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Janeway felt like they’d taken their sonic searching as far it could go—or at least “without doing some kind of death-metal album.” But it raised a lot of important questions: “‘What are we doing? What is the band now?’ You go through that kind of identity-crisis stuff. What is the band, and is this still creatively satisfying?” The answer is a resounding yes. “Making this record was a long journey, but I think it’s one of those rare times where it felt really worth it,” Janeway says. “It feels very much like a renewed energy. And who knows? We might make our death metal record next.”

ZETRA Announce 5-Track EP ‘BELIEVE’ Out August 22nd + Release New Single ‘The Spider’
ONLY THE SPIDER IS WATCHING ME… BREAKING THROUGH MY DREAMS… A new sound of darkness takes shape…
Enigmatic synth rock duo, ZETRA, have stepped out from the shadows to announce a new 5-track EP, titled ‘Believe’. It will be released digitally on August 22nd via Nuclear Blast Records.
They have also released an ethereal, crushingly beautiful new single ‘The Spider’.
On ‘The Spider’, ZETRA commented:
“The golden thread becomes a web.
The silken strands entice you, but do not linger.
Will you climb to brighter heights?
Or descend into madness.
And ever he waits.
And ever he watches.”
ZETRA added about the ‘Believe’ EP:
“Linger no more in darkness.
Step forth from the shadows.
Zetra has been reborn in blinding light.
Bathe in the warm glow of ‘Believe’.
The new EP is coming.”

Shrouded in mystery, the UK duo blend elements of shoegaze, synth, and post-punk into a sound that is other-worldly and spellbinding. Emerging from the underground with a haunting visual aesthetic of cloaked figures and vintage analog synths, ZETRA have already begun to carve a devoted cult following.
ZETRA were recently awarded The Great Escape’s Steve Strange Award for 2025, following their performance at the festival earlier this year. The award celebrates boundary-breaking new talent and the legacy of the iconic music agent Steve Strange.

SoSo playfully take aim at industry dynamics on new single ‘Candy Mouth’
Sydney “offensively average” alt-punk underdogs SoSo have today released ‘Candy Mouth’ – the third single from their highly anticipated, boldly self-projected #1 record So Much For Second Chances. Taking tongue-in-cheek aim at gatekeepers and the challenge of navigating music industry dynamics, the pop-infused alt rock track is laced with double entendre and a chorus that doesn’t quit.
Backed by a fiercely loyal fan base, and with millions of streams and multiple sold out tours to their name, SoSo have been making waves on their own terms. Working with acclaimed producer Stevie Knight (Yours Truly / Stand Atlantic / Between You & Me), So Much For Second Chances sees the band evolve their songwriting and sound, embracing melodic pop vocal hooks and incorporating samples, synths and heavier production. At its core though, the record is still true to SoSo – ambitious, playful, and unmistakably their own.Of ‘Candy Mouth’, frontman Rhys de Burgh says it’s the kind of track the band has been wanting to write for a while – something that sonically blurs the lines between alt, pop and rock. “‘Candy Mouth’ was actually the last song we wrote before heading into the studio, and so it was a case of getting in there and working with Stevie to really make sure it slapped.”“Lyrically, it’s about that kinda ‘unknown’ of the music industry – trying to convince yourself that you’re doing something worthwhile that resonates with fans, all the while being overlooked by the industry. Watching a tonne of other acts get leg ups thanks to ‘knowing the right person’ can be a real kick in the teeth, having ‘friends’ in the scene suddenly drop all contact once you’re no longer useful and all that typical music industry stuff. So in the end, ‘Candy Mouth’ came to be this song kinda calling out and having a laugh at those people who’ve used their ‘Candy Mouth’ to climb the ladder of success, whilst dealing with some of the fun and frustration of trying to ‘make it’ whilst being overlooked.”
The new single is the band’s third release lifted from their forthcoming album So Much For Second Chances, due for release later this year. ‘Oxytocin’ and ‘Messed Up’ are out now.
So Much For Second Chances is available for pre-order via www.sosopunx.com.
CATE LE BON PRESENTS NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘IS IT WORTH IT (HAPPY BIRTHDAY)?’
NEW ALBUM, MICHELANGELO DYING, OUT SEPTEMBER 26TH VIA MEXICAN SUMMER
Cate Le Bon presents the new single and video, ‘Is It Worth It (Happy Birthday)?‘ from her new album, Michelangelo Dying, out September 26th via Mexican Summer.
Following the “magical, affecting masterpiece,” (Paste) ‘Heaven Is No Feeling,’ ‘Is It Worth It (Happy Birthday)?‘ serves as the album’s centrepiece, with Le Bon powerfully evoking the simultaneous universality and unknowability of love. Her admission, “I thought about your mother / I hope she knew I loved her,” catches devastatingly in the chest. The song’s accompanying video was directed by H. Hawkline.
Michelangelo Dying’s creation was led by pure emotion, usurping the album Le Bon thought she was making. The product of all-consuming heartache, her feelings overrode her reluctance to write an album about love, and in the process became a kind of exorcism. What emerges is a wonderfully iridescent attempt to photograph a wound before it closes up — but which in doing so, picks at it too. It’s a record centred on the many states of existence within love and its aftermath as Le Bon found herself surrendering to the abstraction of intense feeling and the grieving of a fantasy.
While in recent years Le Bon has become a sought-after producer, working alongside Wilco, Horsegirl, Devendra Banhart and St. Vincent, the production of Michelangelo Dying was shared with collaborator Samur Khouja (John Grant, Ariel Pink, Marlon Williams). To a similar end, her longstanding collaboration with saxophonist Euan Hinshelwood is a main thread of her sonic landscape. He’s joined by similarly close friends: Paul Jones on piano; Dylan Hadley on drums, Valentina Magaletti on drums and percussion, as well as John Cale, who makes a poignant appearance on the mournful ‘Ride’.
An exercise in the viscerality of life, of love, of humanity for both listener and artist, Michelangelo Dying knows what it is to hold, to be held, and to be exquisitely, profoundly alone. There are ultimately, Cate asserts, “No revelations. No conclusions. There is no reason. There is repetition and chaos.”
Le Bon will embark on a tour across Europe, the United Kingdom and North America kicking off in late 2025 and continuing into early 2026. Tickets are now on sale and available here.

SUNBEAM SOUND MACHINE Shares new single ‘Vanishing Point’
New album Double Magic out Friday 15 August via Dot Dash Recordings / Remote Control
Following the announcement of his fourth album Double Magic last month, Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Sunbeam Sound Machine today shares a new single, ‘Vanishing Point.’ The track follows the recently released ‘Waterfall (Strange Gravity),’ offering another glimpse into the dreamlike textures and expansive soundscapes of the upcoming record. Double Magic is set for release on Friday 15 August via Dot Dash / Remote Control.
On his new single ‘Vanishing Point,’ Sunbeam Sound Machine reflects on themes of faith, time, and seeking meaning, sharing; “I’m not a religious person but there are times that I find myself looking to something higher for guidance, and this song is trying to figure out what that might be. It ends with a bit of a mantra about the passage of time ultimately being the thing that will help.”
Double Magic, sees multi-instrumentalist and producer Nick Sowersby expand on his signature sonic palette. Retaining the sparkling guitars and introspective lyrics from previous releases, the songs of Double Magic are built upon a bedrock of four-to-the-floor rhythm provided by drummer Lochy Funston and percussionist Rhys Grunden, and punctuated by a constant burbling of nature sounds collected on excursions around Melbourne by bike armed with a Zoom recorder.
Lyrically, Double Magic spans love, loss, a journey into parenthood, social media feeds, the housing market, the Kananook creek and the healing nature of time, making it thematically and sonically the most expansive Sunbeam Sound Machine record to date. Double Magic is by far the most energetic and concert-ready record of Sowersby’s career, with more Australian and international dates to come.
Across his career, Sunbeam Sound Machine has evolved into a unique sonic landscape that has been lauded for its blend of beauty and melancholy, and its embrace of expansive arrangements and ideas. Since debut album Wonderer served to introduce the project back in 2014, Sunbeam Sound Machine has amassed over 63 million worldwide streams and beautifully resonated with audiences in Australia and abroad; particularly in the United States, where Wonderer’s release on the Echo Drug Recordings opened Sowersby up to what remains one of his most successful territories to date.
“Beautifully blissed-out” (Brooklyn Vegan) sophomore effort Goodness Gracious saw Sunbeam Sound Machine debut at #10 on the NACC (North American College and Community Chart) furthering his audience with the hypnotic release.
Double Magic stands as the most confident and concert-ready omnibus of the project to date.

NAILED TO OBSCURITY Release Video For New Single Generation Of The Void
NAILED TO OBSCURITY have released a video for the stunning title track of their upcoming fifth studio album, Generation Of The Void, which will be out on September 5th, 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records. The song ‘Generation Of The Void’ features an epic chorus unlike anything in the band’s previous works and it underlines the versatility of the new record alongside a potent message about our connection and interaction with each other.
NAILED TO OBSCURITY commented: “‘Generation Of The Void’ is a mirror held up to a world that feels increasingly disconnected. We tried to capture the overwhelming sense of unease that defines our time, but also the inner battles we all face. It’s a song that grew out of chaos, but from a desire to understand and endure.”
With Generation Of The Void, NAILED TO OBSCURITY have crafted their most mature and expansive album to date. The album reflects the turmoil of the post-pandemic era, the shadows of war in Europe, and the relentless changes affecting all of humanity. Beyond its political and social commentary, the album also dives deep into personal struggles, confronting themes of dark emotions, depression, and fear. Every note, every lyric carries the weight of uncertainty and disillusionment, while no one knows what one will find within the void or beyond.

ABOUT NAILED TO OBSCURITY:
Formed in 2005 by guitarists Jan-Ole Lamberti and Volker Dieken, NAILED TO OBSCURITY started their journey as teenagers with an uncompromising vision. They released their independent debut Abyss in 2007, proving their resilience in an industry where many bands fade before they rise. With lineup evolutions in the early days and sonic transformations, the Germans honed their melancholic yet crushing sound, which reached new heights with Opaque (2013) and King Delusion (2017), released via Apostasy Records. These albums marked the first steps from a local underground act to a serious, globally touring band, following the arrival of vocalist Raimund Ennenga in 2012.
By 2018, NAILED TO OBSCURITY had earned a place among the greats, signing with Nuclear Blast and unveiling Black Frost in January 2019, an album that solidified their identity and positioned them on some of the biggest stages in Europe and North America. With bassist Lutz Neemann joining in May 2024, replacing long-time member Carsten Schorn, the current lineup was completed.
In 2022, NAILED TO OBSCURITY released the singles ‘Liquid Mourning’ and ‘Clouded Frame’, both of which are featured on Generation Of The Void. These tracks provided a glimpse into the band’s evolving sound and set the stage for what was to come.
Now, after years of meticulous crafting and relentless touring, Generation Of The Void emerges as the next chapter—a visceral and evocative testament to the times.

DEAD MALL profess their love for iconic reality tv show on heavy new single ‘EVICTION NIGHT’
Debut album ‘SUPERLIMINAL’ out August 21
Newcastle punks Dead Mall have today released the final tease for their upcoming debut album with explosive new single ‘EVICTION NIGHT’; a nu-metal inspired epic that continues to push the band’s sonic palette, whilst thematically drawing from very specific source material.
Like all recent singles from ‘SUPERLIMINAL’ (currently set for release on August 21), ‘EVICTION NIGHT’ sees Dead Mall move into new stylistic territory, with elements of metalcore and Nu Metal seamlessly finding their way into the band’s sound. Featuring one of the most impactful breakdowns on the record, ‘EVICTION NIGHT’ is one of the largest sounding tracks from the band so far – a fitting last single to what has been a busy year for the emerging 5-piece.
Lyrically, the track was inspired by frontman Ruairi Burns’ love for the Australian reality TV series Big Brother – a show that he himself has auditioned for multiple times in the past. Although he never got past the first round, he had big ideas for his arrival – and thus ‘EVICTION NIGHT’ emerged as a tongue-in-cheek love letter to one of his favourite programs.
“I don’t know if I really wanted to be on Big Brother but I’ve applied 3 or 4 times over the years. Mostly, I was into the idea of making the audition tape. I’m sure I have the tape somewhere, and I do mean tape. I always used my VHS camera and one single tape. I’d edit it so that when it cuts, you’d see a glimpse of the old auditions, or random footage that made me look even more insane. I had a lot of really stupid plans for once I got in there.
Like, I started learning all of the dialogue for ‘Toy Story’, so I could repeat it word for word. Or, when I’m alone, talk to the cameras and audience in a completely different voice. In the diary room, I wanted to address ‘Big Brother’ simply as ‘Brother’, but in a way that felt dark and villainous, like I was always doing his evil bidding.
I never got past the first round of auditions, so ‘Eviction Night’ is my Big Brother fantasy (not that kind). At the time it was written, they were airing their worst ever season, so I had a lot of grievances to air. I have no grievances with Gretel Killeen though.”
RUAIRI BURNS, DEAD MALL
Engineered and mixed by the band’s guitarist Darcy Long. ‘SUPERLIMINAL’ has the kind of attention to detail and personal touches that are only ever achieved by working ‘in house’. Music wise, most of the instrumentation was written by guitarist Joe Willis before they hit the studio, who sent over intricate demos that, to this day, sound pretty close to the finished product. They then fleshed things out – moving between Durham Studios, Sawtooth Studios and Darcy’s house – collaborating at any chance they could to bring the album to life.
“Writing the music for the album wasn’t something that was really planned, but kinda just happened. I got carried away with writing initially, just spewing out demos – riffing on any idea I thought was remotely cool and ended up with a pile of them. A sort of random codswallop that was arguably incohesive as a group of tracks, but I kinda liked that. I’ve always enjoyed albums that have a bit of everything.
(‘SUPERLIMINAL’) seems to jump around – from some classic four-to-the-floor riff-salad, to a pop-rock song with three-part harmonies and questionable percussion choices. Since we had Darcy in the directors chair during the recording and mixing sessions, It was exciting to have the liberty as a band to take our sweet time, and turn the aforementioned ‘codswallop’ into something we were all super proud of. JOE WILLIS, DEAD MALL
Dead Mall have seen plenty of support since their return earlier this year – with significant support from media, radio and DSPs alike. They’ve seen radio support for previous album singles from triple J, triple J Unearthed, 4ZZZ, FBi, 2SER, RRR, PBS and more; DSP support from Spotify (with adds to New Music Friday, Local Noise, Fresh Finds AU & NZ, All New Metal and Hardcore Rising), Apple Music (The Riff, All New Rock, Rise Above) and have seen praise from national tastemakers Rolling Stone, The Music, Scenestr, MILKY, Blunt, Happy Mag, Hysteria and more. On the live circuit, the band have previously played with the likes of Trophy Eyes, Whatever, Forever, Honest Crooks, Illnatured, Feel The Pain, Splinter, Terminal Sleep, Peace Ritual and many others.
To celebrate the release of the album, the band are set to hit the road – with album launch shows set for Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle in late August. More shows across the East coast will follow in the back end of 2025. ‘SUPERLIMINAL’ OUT AUGUST 21

KUČKA ANNOUNCES CAN YOU HEAR ME DREAMING? DELUXE ALBUM
Producer, vocalist and creative powerhouse KUČKA marks a year of her sophomore album Can You Hear Me Dreaming? with a deluxe package, featuring bonus tracks and previously unreleased remixes from Jacques Greene, Nosaj Thing, MESSIE, PESH, and BUFFEE out Wednesday August 27 via Mushroom Music.
The deluxe record expands the world of Can You Hear Me Dreaming? with a suite of sparkling remixes that steps us out of the clouds and into the club. KUČKA calls on a diverse list of artists, including rising Asian-American producer Tsu Nami, Fred Again.. collaborator MESSIE, and labelmates Nosaj Thing and Jacques Greene deliver their first remix under new collaborative moniker Verses GT. The deluxe release also includes Hazboy’s winning entry from a remix competition KUČKA held with her community of fans in conjunction with Ableton earlier this year.
“I love putting out remixes because the turnaround is always so quick. It lets me see what sound palettes my friends and other producers are excited about at that exact moment in time. It’s also an amazing opportunity to work with people that you really respect, when they re-imagine your songs and add their flair, it really feels special.”- KUČKA
LISTEN TO ‘HEAVEN (MESSIE REMIX)’
Setting the tone for the deluxe offering is lead single Heaven (MESSIE remix) which releases today. KUČKA says “MESSIE is a super exciting new DJ and producer so I was so happy when she agreed to remix ‘Heaven’. I love what she brought to the track, keeping the core DNA of the original but adding the perfect little bit of heat with a subtle jersey beat”.
“It was such an honour to remix ‘Heaven’ for KUČKA, her voice is super unique so it was fun to chop and dive into the layers of her vocals for this track. It was my goal to keep the essence of this track true to itself while putting my own spin on it and I’m really happy with how it turned out and for the trust with it to be coming out as the first single!” – MESSIE
Where KUČKA’s debut album, Wrestling, was an intimate exploration of queer identity, the LA-based artist’s second full-length broke through the clouds of introspection into a zone of playful fantasy. Exploring “emotional voyeurism” – a term she coined and describes as “attempting to understand someone through an (imagined) emotional standpoint instead of a purely logical one” – she leaned heavily into the whims of her “cartoon brain” that runs on dream logic, wherein symbols and imagery interact chaotically as a vehicle for deeper emotional landscapes.
Can You Hear Me Dreaming? (Deluxe) is out on Fri 27 Aug.
MORE ABOUT KUČKA…
KUČKA, the moniker of electronic producer and songwriter Laura Jane Lowther, has soared over a decade of artistic evolution since her debut EP in 2012. From her early self-produced works to collaborations with the likes of Flume, A$AP Rocky, and Kendrick Lamar, she has carved a niche as both a remarkable producer and vocalist. Her debut album, Wrestling, in 2021, earned widespread acclaim for its candid portrayal of love, growth, and the nuances of her global and queer identity.
In 2024 KUČKA released her sophomore album Can You Hear Me Dreaming? exploring the concept of ‘emotional voyeurism’, and garnered international praise and prominent playlisting. The album followed years of global touring and collaborations with Flume, including Coachella, Red Rocks, and sold-out solo shows at Dark Mofo and Sydney Opera House (VIVID Live).

Mac DeMarco Releases new single/video, ‘Holy’ – watch here
New album, Guitar, out 22 August 2025 via Mac’s Record Label
World tour kicks off in August with sold out UK live dates in November 2025 including a London show at Eventim Apollo on 10 November
Mac DeMarco releases ‘Holy’, the second single/video from his forthcoming album, Guitar, out 22 August 2025 via Mac’s Record Label. Following last month’s “reflective indie pop ode,” (Clash) ‘Home’, ‘Holy’ is a lilting, laidback reflection on spirituality. In the song’s opening lines, Mac sings: “Miracle, reveal yourself to me // Miracle, your help could set me free” leading into the conclusion: “Curse, carried on forever in me // Curse, from which I may never be free // Curse from down below // Holy.”
As with the video for ‘Home’, Mac filmed the ‘Holy’ video himself. He comments, “I waded around in the ocean fully clothed for a couple hours and completely filled my boots with seawater. There were some other shots on some rocks I kept trying too, but in the end the clip of me falling in the garden and eating the apple was best. Thank you for listening.”
Guitar was written and recorded in its entirety in November 2024 at Mac’s home in Los Angeles. Except for the mastering, which was handled by David Ives, Mac created and handled all aspects of this record on his own, including mixing the album in Canada, and shooting the artwork on tripods. Mac comments, “I think Guitar is as close to a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper. CMAT SHARES ALBUM TITLE TRACK “EURO-COUNTRY”.NEW ALBUM EURO-COUNTRY OUT FRIDAY 29 AUGUST
CMAT has released the title-track from her highly anticipated new album EURO-COUNTRY, which is set for release on Friday 29 August via AWAL Recordings.
The new single comes immediately off the back of a “career-making set” on Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage – a memorable performance that received a clean sweep of 5* reviews – and comes with news that CMAT has been confirmed as one of BBC Radio 6 Music’s upcoming Artists in Residence.
CMAT explains the concept around EURO-COUNTRY: “I have certain phrases that reverberate around my head over and over again – and EURO-COUNTRY was one of them. It’s the title of the album, and the name of the first song on the record. And it means three things to me: It’s the kind of country music I make; the fact that Ireland is a European country run by the euro; and that capitalism is one of the worst things to ever happen to us”.
Despite this being her third album, this fully-formed, acronymic star feels like she’s been part of the culture forever. EURO-COUNTRY follows 2023’s brilliant Crazymad, For Me – an album that propelled her to wider attention and garnered numerous accolades: including a BRITs Best International Artist nod; and ‘Best Album’ nominations from the Ivors; Mercury Prize and the Choice Music Prize in her native Ireland (an award she won for her debut, If My Wife New I’d Be Dead).
Press, radio and television have all been integral in her rise, with numerous covers, five-star reviews, playlists, Maida Vale sessions and TV appearances, including Jools Holland (both Later… and a memorable turn on his Hootenanny) and The Graham Norton Show.
A relentless touring schedule with The Very Sexy CMAT Band has cemented her reputation as one of the best live acts around – alongside Glastonbury, early 2025 highlights include Primavera, NOS Alive in Lisbon and a run supporting Sam Fender in the UK. Her upcoming UK and Ireland headline run – including her first arena show in Dublin – is now fully sold out.
CMAT – “EURO-COUNTRY” (official video)
The new album – coming via AWAL Recordings – was recorded in New York and co-produced by long-time collaborator Oli Deakin and CMAT. EURO-COUNTRY tackles a number of big themes, including personal reflections on economics, identity and grief. It marks another step in the unstoppable rise of CMAT and cements her position as a generational songwriter.
What has endeared fans to her heart-sore tunes and humour is Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson’s ability to combine contradictory themes and moods: wide-eye drama with self-deprecation; the fusion of country and pop, with even more influences stretching across decades and genres. EURO-COUNTRY is no different: an aural tight-rope walk that balances big themes, specifically: the impact of economics on a small country, the attention that comes with increased fame (not all of it good) and being a woman.
Speaking about the LP, CMAT said: “EURO-COUNTRY is, I think, the best thing I have ever made. I felt halfway through recording it was the most important record I’ve made for myself… mainly because it was making me go crazy.
“I’m always going to make the work I want to make, because there is a little gremlin in my head that tells me if it’s shit. More than success, there’s a bigger gremlin that wants me to make music that’s really good. She’s brutal and has ruined my life at times, but she is the keeper of my life and she’s always right”.
Title track “EURO-COUNTRY” by CMAT is out now.
The album will arrive Friday 29 August 2025 via AWAL Recordings. Pre-order / save the album
EURO-COUNTRY is available for pre-orders from the CMAT store on the following physical formats: limited coloured double vinyl; standard double vinyl, CD and tape.
Wattmore’s Romantic Side: The Song Your Ears Didn’t Know They Were Missing
We need to talk. Not about your ex, not about politics, not about the fact that your lunch just got stolen from the office fridge (again). No — this is more important. There is a song roaming the airwaves right now called Romantic Side by Wattmore, and if you haven’t played it yet… we regret to inform you: your listeners are being robbed.
This song is what happens when a heartfelt, nostalgic country anthem sneaks into a dive bar, has a drink with alt-Americana, and they decide to run off together and make something beautiful. It’s catchy. It’s authentic. It sticks to your brain like glitter to a dance floor.
This isn’t just another single — it’s a story listeners already relate to. Fans have called it:
“The soundtrack to my best and worst decisions.”
“A song I didn’t know I needed until it ruined me in the best way.”
“Like whiskey with a love note stuck to the bottle.”
And here’s the kicker:
This is already charting. Fans are already requesting it. And somewhere out there is a listener wondering why their favourite station hasn’t caught up yet.
We don’t want that to be you. So go on — do the right thing. Spin Romantic Side. Make someone’s commute/laundry day/personal breakup montage feel like a movie scene.
Thanks for keeping good music alive.
You’re a hero already — this just seals the deal.
About Wattmore:
Wattmore are two Brisbane brothers who turn heartbreak and humour into sharp, unforgettable songs — equal parts charm, grit, and dry wit. Known for their rich harmonies, fiery guitar work, and multi-instrumental skills, they craft music that makes your ex nervous, your boots move, and your eyebrows raise (sometimes all at once).

The Inadequates Find Comfort In Forgetfulness In Single ‘Lethe River’
Out Thursday, July 24 | Debut Album ‘Haven’t You Heard’ Out August 28
Australian folk trio, The Inadequates, unveil their next single ‘Lethe River’ on Thursday, July 24, offering a stirring preview of their upcoming debut album ‘Haven’t You Heard’.
The Inadequates have been dubbed ‘the best-dressed band on the folk scene’ by the Cobargo Folk Festival, where one of their many colourful performances took place. Their single debut, ‘The New Sensation’, on July 3 may have been a recent release, but the band’s experience is undeniable with a trail of gigs at festivals and venues that have attracted them an enthusiastic fanbase.
With 12 tracks of tight 3 part harmonies, complex and intricate multi-instrumentalism, high energy, and rich emotive cores, their debut album, ‘Haven’t You Heard’, is the culmination of their efforts over the last two years. Out on Thursday, August 28, their debut album is just around the corner.
The second single release before their upcoming album is ‘Lethe River’: a stripped back, honest song. Its gentle mandolin, charmed guitar, and accordion captures the feeling of a venetian river cruise, decorated with multi-part harmonies that bring a sadness to the romantic instrumentals.
‘Lethe River’ is based on the mythical river of the same name, a river said to wipe the memories of those who come into contact with it in preparation for the afterlife. A liquid forgetfulness is something a lot of people turn to after life’s challenges as they aim to find solace from their sorrows in booze. This song captures the raw vulnerability of grief, whether it’s from a loved one, a missed opportunity, or a relationship, wrapping the listener in its comforting melodies.
Get swept away by ‘Lethe River’, the second single release of The Inadequates when it drops Thursday, July 24, ahead of the release of their debut album ‘Haven’t You Heard’ on Thursday, August 28.
Then, The Inadequates will be taking their folk tunes and debut album on tour throughout September and October. More information below.

Label head CASH ONLY teams up with Patrick Meeks and powerhouse vocalist Holly Ellison on new single, ‘Rotation’.
Label head CASH ONLY teams up with Patrick Meeks and powerhouse vocalist Holly Ellison on new single, ‘Rotation’. The bold and bass-driven club cut sees CASH ONLY switch up from the Afro sound that he’s been championing this year to produce a track aimed straight at the dance floor.
Released today on CASH ONLY’s Famous When Dead Records, ‘Rotation’ is built around CASH and Patrick Meeks’ UK-flavoured groove. Perfectly complemented by Holly Ellison’s standout vocals, ‘Rotation’ follows CASH ONLY and Holly’s earlier collaboration, ‘Trust In Me’ via Electronic Nature Records. The new, bold and driven club track blends all three artists’ musical roots with peak-time energy, marking another essential release from Famous When Dead Records.
Across this summer, CASH ONLY’s busy tour schedule included Glastonbury Festival, along with dates at Hi Ibiza, Defected Croatia, Reading Festival, Parklife and Pike’s Ibiza, just to name a few, where he brings his Famous When Dead energy directly to dancefloors worldwide. In addition to a solid tour schedule, fans can expect a wave of upcoming releases over the coming months.
Despite its fresh arrival, Famous When Dead Records is a label that has already delivered a string of standout releases, gaining serious traction across dancefloors, charts, and radio shows, firmly cementing its place as a rising force in the electronic music scene. Following the debut single ‘Another One’ from UK chart-topper Syncia, Famous When Dead Records has continued to push boundaries with a sharp focus on house music and its offshoots.
With multiple releases climbing into the top ten, the label’s roster blends rising stars with established names, including Reigns, Patrick Meeks, Maisie Mae, Holly Ellison, and more. The result is a sound that resonates across clubs, charts, and radio, earning the imprint widespread support from DJs and dancefloors alike. Famous When Dead is more than just a label; it’s a growing creative collective. Built in collaboration with Midlands-based abstract street artist Famous When Dead, the label fuses music and visual storytelling, rejecting mainstream formulas in favour of a bold, multidisciplinary vision.
CASH ONLY comments: “We didn’t just want to build a label, we wanted to build a world. One that lives through a track, a T-shirt, a short film, or a full sensory club experience. Immersive, innovative and continually pushing forward.”
CASH ONLY x Patrick Meeks feat. Holly Ellison ‘Rotation’ is out now and continues to solidify Famous When Dead Records as one of dance music’s most exciting new labels.

KAHUKX shares highly anticipated EP, SYD TO LDN
Featuring a stacked line up of collaborations with UK artists: Backroad Gee, LeoStayTrill, RV, & more. EP Out Now via KAHUKX / Aura Music / Virgin Music Group
Curating a body of work with the intention to connect the Australian and British rap scenes, KAHUKX has united artists internationally with his most ambitious body of work yet. Flying over to London, networking and attending sessions with some of the UK’s hottest rappers, KAHUKX has enlisted BackRoad Gee, RV, LeoStayTrill, Fizzler, Kirky, Private Zero, Kayem2x, and K-Bandit for his new EP SYD TO LDN.
Emphasising his influence on the UK and AUS crossover via a string of unmissable releases over the last 10 months, KAHUKX has distinguished himself as a one-to-watch artist, receiving co-signs from notable international outlets including COLORS, DAZED, Billboard, GRM Daily, Mixtape Madness, BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, while still maintaining recognition from local tastemakers Rolling Stone AU, Acclaim, Complex AU, AUD$, TakeFlight and more.
What started out as a trip to London with his team, only armed with a small network and a growing desire to create music with some of his favourite artists, KAHUKX was quick to flip the switch with a flurry of DM’s, calls and messages leading to a number of sessions with BackRoad Gee, RV, LeoStayTrill, Fizzler, Kirky, Private Zero, Kayem2x, and K-Bandit. Journeying back to his earlier days growing up listening to the likes of MizOrMac and RV to name a few, the SYD TO LDN EP marks more than just a movement, instead a full circle moment that embraces his love for the UK’s rap scene.
Spread across 8 tracks each outpouring authentic connections and anecdotes, the listener is taken on a journey overseas where two cultures collide. Inspired by his UK counterparts, KAHUKX stepped outside of his comfort zone, and with each collab bringing their signature sound to the table. With tracks like ‘TOO MANY TIMES’ with rap favourite RV, ‘HOOD BE HOT’ featuring Private Zero and Kayem2x, to the bilingual sounds of ‘FRANCE’ alongside viral star LeoStayTrill all emphasise the level of talent held throughout studio sessions. Showcasing different variations between both scenes seamlessly tracks like ‘DARKEST DAYS’ with Kirky, ‘CARIBBEAN’ alongside UK hit-maker BackRoad Gee, and ‘HOW?’ with rap-riser Fizzler combines hard-hitting flows and razor sharp bars with a selection of beats that continue to push the sonic blueprints of rap and drill.
Gifting supporters with two unreleased tracks featuring newcomer K-Bandit and Fizzler, the SYD TO LDN EP is redefining the sound of a new generation of artists looking to collaborate and form a body of work that will stand the test of time.
Speaking on the concept behind the EP KAHUKX stated, “SYD TO LDN” is a project reflecting connection. I built this project to bridge the gap between two scenes that I feel are more alike than people realise, which is Australia and the UK. I’m from Sydney, and growing up, we were heavily influenced by what was happening overseas, especially in the UK. But at the same time, we’ve all been building our own sound, our own identity. I wanted to bring those two worlds together in a way that feels natural and innovative for the two scenes.
At the end of the day, “SYD TO LDN” is more than just a project to me, it’s about breaking down walls and showing what’s possible when two scenes come together that might not have in the past. I’m trying to help close the divide, create more pathways between artists here and overseas, and give people a sound that reflects where things are headed and not just where they’ve been.”

About KAHUKX
When KAHUKX burst onto the Australian hip-hop scene as a balaclava-clad teenager in 2022, the impact was immediate. His debut single ‘Due Time’ went Platinum, defining a new wave of Australian drill while setting him apart with its introspective storytelling over a Billie Eilish sample. Born and raised in Sydney’s inner-city suburbs, KAHUKX’s music reflects the duality of his environment—a place where housing commission flats meet glamorous nightlife, blending grittiness with ambition.
His follow-up, ‘Bonnie & Clyde’, pivoted to a club-ready sound, proving his versatility and securing another Platinum plaque. From there, he continued his ascent with ‘MBAPPÉ’, a Gold-certified hit featuring fellow Australian rapper Day1, earning two ARIA nominations and later receiving a global remix with UK rapper Jay1 and French artist Gambino La MG. The track showcased KAHUKX’s ability to bridge cultures, incorporating French bars in a nod to his Maori-French heritage.
His debut EP, Nothing To Something, offered a more vulnerable side, documenting the highs and lows of rapid success. The project, nominated for Best Hip-Hop/Rap Release at the ARIA Awards, solidified KAHUKX as a force within Australian music. Now, with SYD TO LDN, he’s taking that vision even further—cementing himself as the Australian rapper truly making waves in the UK scene. Immersing himself in the UK’s rap scene, the ‘SYD TO LDN’ EP is more than just a project, it’s a movement.
Adelaide indie outfit BROKEN WAVES return with groove-filled single ‘THE CHASE’
Broken Waves have returned for their first single in 2025; releasing breezy, infectious track ‘The Chase’ this morning.
Drawing sonic comparisons to the likes of Parcels, Jungle Giants and Glass Animals – Broken Waves blend elements of funk, dance music and indie rock on their latest single; with endless grooves, striking vocal harmonies and a beat that won’t quit -’The Chase’ feels like it’s poised for dancefloors and festivals alike.
As the band explains, ‘The Chase’ marks a shift in style for the band; “It was heavily influenced by our growing obsession with jazz house, electronic textures, and the kind of EDM that prioritises groove over spectacle. We didn’t want to just experiment for the sake of it — the goal was to refine and tighten our approach to songwriting, to make something leaner and more intentional without losing the emotional weight.
This track came out of a particularly collaborative and spontaneous period for us. Ideas were bouncing around constantly — chords, beats, lyrics — and for the first time in a while, it felt like we were all chasing the same instinct at the same time. We made a conscious decision to preserve that live energy in the final recording. You can hear the push and pull, the tension, the improvisation — all those little human imperfections that give a track its real pulse. The Chase feels like a turning point for us sonically — more precise, more rhythmically driven, but still anchored in everything we’ve always cared about: character, feeling, and a touch of chaos.”
Following on from 2024 single ‘Do You Understand?”, ‘The Chase’ almost serves as a thematic sequel to their previous release, with the band stating that ‘The Chase’ “emerged from the same raw conversations about toxic masculinity and the weird dynamics of online culture that inspired our last single, Do You Understand. It exists in that same world — one fixated on performative identities, emotional armor, and the complicated, often performative dance of modern dating. We wanted to write a love song for the emotionally unavailable—for the people who ghost before they get ghosted. It’s an ode to Tinder swipes, talking stages, and the hollow rituals of modern courtship. There’s romance in it, but it’s the kind that’s more about performance than connection, and that’s kind of the point.”
Lyrically, frontman Ben Lyons-Reid embodies a character to get the story across, “stitched together from our worst instincts—someone who’s mastered the script of charm but fumbles when faced with real vulnerability. He’s not a villain, but he is a mirror. We use him to expose how easy it is to hide behind irony, detachment, and just enough emotional awareness to excuse bad behaviour.”
Using this writing technique allowed the band to explore themes deeper, but also give some unique perspectives to the song – allowing the listener to come up with their own conclusions
“Depending on how you hear it, The Chase could be coming from someone like that—or from someone about to ghost you. That ambiguity was deliberate. It’s part self-portrait, part imagined monologue, part attempt to understand what goes on in the mind of someone who’s just not willing (or able) to show up emotionally. It’s not an answer so much as an invitation to sit with the discomfort. The Chase isn’t just a critique—it’s a confession. And like most of what we write, it’s aimed as much at ourselves as it is at the culture we’re swimming in” BROKEN WAVES
Broken Waves have built a solid following over the years, with three sold out headline shows in their hometown over just the last year. They’ve seen praise from tastemakers such as Rolling Stone Australia, The Advertiser, MILKY, The Music, Beat Mag and more in their time, as well as strong radio support from triple J and triple J Unearthed. Making a name for themselves as a force on the live circuit, they’ve supported the likes of Jacob Fitzgerald and Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird and have appeared at festivals such as Music SA’s SCOUTED festival, and Making Waves festival.

KEE’AHN CELEBRATES STRENGTH IN TOGETHERNESS ON NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘HEAVY’ & ANNOUNCES NEW EP, FOR ME, FOR YOU OUT OCT 9 VIA NORTHSIDE RECORDS
Naarm-based Kee’ahn (she/they/nyulu), shares ‘Heavy’, a lush neo-soul single that explores the importance of community and the ways we can lean into connection. It serves as a reminder that healing doesn’t happen in isolation, but in togetherness. Today, Kee’ahn also announces a 5-track EP, which will be released on vinyl through Northside Records.
‘Heavy’ was written as a way to push out from under the weight of systemic harm and the personal impact of not having consent respected. The songwriting process became a vital outlet for Kee’ahn in reclaiming voice and agency. Kee’ahn says, “It’s a reminder that our heaviest moments are meant to be shared. That we need each other. It’s about the power of community, holding on and letting ourselves be held. A message we all need right now.”
The single follows on from the vibrant, groove-filled single ‘Love You More,’ released late last year, which saw Kee’ahn evolve their musical style into a more vibrant neo-soul pop sound. ‘Heavy’ opens with a field recording of Mossman Gorge, Kuku Yalanji Country, grounding the listener in place, memory, and connection to land and water. From there, it builds into an expansive soundscape, including guitar and bass by OjiAji, keys by Yusuf Harare Jnr, flute by Kasinda Faase, and drums by Kawel Che – all brought to life under the thoughtful production of Pataphysics. The choir harmonies, a standout element of the track, were arranged with the guidance of Yara Alkurd, and embody the central message of the song: we are held by many voices, not just our own.
The accompanying video, filmed and edited by Sapphic Flicks, was filmed in Kee’ahn’s hometown of Townsville (Gurambilbarra and Thul Garrie Waja) in North Queensland just after an intense flooding period. “All three of us stayed in the house I grew up in and filmed in the backyard with my mum, aunties, cousins, nan and niece assisting and featuring in the piece,” Kee’ahn explains. “I wanted the visuals to honour women, family and country. That we must hold each other just as country and water hold us.”
Kee’ahn, whose name is derived from kee’an, the Wik word meaning to dance and to play, is a proud Yalanji, Jirrbal, and Badulaig artist whose work captures both the joys and challenges of life, weaving personal experiences of love, loss, and resilience. Her music is a reflection of their roots, growing up surrounded by a strong sense of family, community, and connection to Country. “My songs are diary entries,” Kee’ahn explains. “Music for me is a connection to culture, community and to self. Singing feels intuitive and meant to be.”
Influenced by greats including Lauryn Hill, Lianne La Havas, and Janelle Monae, Kee’ahn’s music has gained acclaim across so-called Australia and beyond, featuring collaborations with notable artists such as Emma Donovan, Dallas Woods, and Alice Ivy. Their debut single, ‘Better Things’ (2020), earned Kee’ahn the Archie Roach Foundation Award and Best Emerging Artist from Music Victoria, affirming their powerful presence in the Australian music scene. Past singles ‘Love You More’, ‘Sunsets’ and ‘Catch The Night’ had airplay on triple j, Double J and community radio across the country, as well as features from Acclaim, Women In Pop, Beat The Music, Pilerats and more.
Known for her soulful, captivating performances, Kee’ahn has shared stages with the likes of Julia Jacklin, Hiatus Kaiyote, Greentea Peng and Angie McMahon and performed at WOMADelaide, Wildlands, and Beyond the Valley.
‘Heavy‘ is out now.

sleepazoid follow up sold out Faye Webster supports with moody end-of-the-night anthem 3AM
Announce launch shows in Melbourne & Sydney.Set to showcase at BIGSOUND 2025
Fresh from four sold out shows supporting Faye Webster, Naarm-based alt rock five-piece sleepazoid have today returned with their moody end-of-the-night slowburn ‘3AM’. Stream HERE. The new single arrives ahead of the band’s upcoming showcases at BIGSOUND this September, and will be launched with two intimate shows in Melbourne and Sydney next month.
‘3AM’ nods to the layered blend of alt-rock heard in sleepazoid’s self-recorded debut EP running with the dogs (March 2025), while also venturing into dreamy, shoegaze-infused territory. It also sees the band lean away from abstract lyricism, opting instead for a more visual and direct story within the song.
“I liked the idea of painting a scene that would bring the listener right into the room,” says vocalist Nette France. “That familiar late-night party when you’re not really sure where the night will go – but you have hopes! Sonically, we’ve gotten much more comfortable writing together and I think you can hear that cohesion. George’s synthy harmonics on this track are a good example of how we’re embracing more interesting textures across the new EP – still embracing the three guitars but also allowing for space and dynamics.”
Produced and mixed by Jack Nigro at Sonora Studios, and mastered by Joe Carra, ‘3AM’ is the band’s first new offering since running with the dogs – an undeniably strong debut EP that left an impressive mark with its crunchy riffs and quirky lyrics. As a result, the band found themselves at the centre of a loyal and swiftly growing fanbase, leading them to sell out their hometown headline launch show at Bergy Bandroom.
Gritty fan-favourite focus single ‘ALICE’ landed high rotation on triple j, as well as a music video premiere on triple j Unearthed and an abundance of praise across press and radio. Along with ‘ALICE’, punchy debut ‘RWTD’ and follow up ‘RATS’ clocked extensive editorial playlist support from Spotify including New Music Friday, All New Rock, Wire, Local Noise, Fresh Finds and more. Ahead of the EP release, the band also voiced the AFL’s Get In On It national ad campaign.
running with the dogs arrived as an abstract take on everyday life, and a reflection on the band’s shared experiences. The EP was self-produced through Groove Cult Records, mixed by Chris Doherty (Grinspoon / Hoodoo Gurus / Jet) and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer Robin Schmidt (Wolf Alice / Royal Blood / Pixies).
With more new music and announcements to follow, sleepazoid are set to keep the pace throughout the second half of the year.

BAKER BOY ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM DJANDJAY TO BE RELEASED FRI OCT 10th
ARIA-Award winner, Cultural Trailblazer and Proud Yolŋu artist, BAKER BOY officially announces his eagerly awaited second studio album, DJANDJAY (pron. Jan-jay) is set for release Friday Oct 10th (Out on Island Records/Universal Music). Pre-order now from here.
The announcement arrives off the back of yesterday’s release of his third single, ‘LIGHTNING’ ft. REDD., receiving its First Play on triple j Drive; and the accompanying official video, co-directed by Jordan Ruyi Blanch and Aurie Indianna.
Following the acclaim of his 5 x ARIA Award-winning debut album Gela, including Album Of The Year, DJANDJAY is Baker Boy’s most emotionally layered and creatively evolved work yet. Rooted in culture and shaped by personal growth, the new album is a powerful statement of resilience, identity, and transformation. Where Gela introduced the artist, DJANDJAY reveals Danzal the man: grounded, complex, and unafraid to speak his truth.
Named after his late grandmother, DJANDJAY also draws on the Yolŋu spiritual figure of the same name: a guiding octopus spirit that leads souls forward. That dual legacy flows through the record, which fuses ancestral influences with cutting-edge global production.
“DJANDJAY feels like a new space for me — more mature, more elevated,” says Baker Boy. “This is my strongest, most powerful work yet”
On the new single LIGHTNING co-written with REDD. and longtime collaborators Rob Amoruso and Pip Norman, Baker Boy smoothly switches between Yolŋu Matha, English and Burarra — his mother’s language from Maningrida.
Baker Boys says of new single, “Sonically, LIGHTNING is a lighter moment on DJANDJAY, the production is bouncy and playful and REDD. brings this catchy hook. It has this kind of cheeky arrogance to it, but during the writing process, I was touching on the pressures and expectations I feel to kind of be this perfect role model and I guess coming to terms with not being able to make everyone happy. People are always going to have opinions about how you do things and yeah this feeling that I could do more, be more but being able to look past the noise, the jealousy and just being true to myself and protecting my peace”
The official video for ‘LIGHTNING ft. REDD.’ is the third in a five-part visual series filmed within the historic Werribee Mansion. As seen in the previously released videos for ‘PEACEKEEPER’ and ‘FREAK OUT feat. Briggs and Haiku Hands’, each video occupies a different space within the mansion, visually interpreting a distinct emotional tone, reflecting the album’s thematic and sonic range.
The cinematically shot LIGHTNING video was filmed in the opulent dining room and features REDD., alongside an all Indigenous, Black, and POC cast being served by balanda (non-Indigenous) butlers. While the single captures a lighter moment on the album, the video subtly critiques colonial legacies embedded in these spaces.
‘LIGHTNING ft. REDD.’ OFFICIAL VIDEO
The album’s artwork is a bold visual extension of Baker Boy’s creative evolution — a portrait layered with symbolism, identity, and Yolŋu pride. Set against a backdrop inspired by the landscape of North-East Arnhem Land — rich red earth, pandanus fruits, and the lush greens of the wet season — the image shows Baker Boy with his back to the camera, striking and deliberate.
Also conceived by longtime collaborator Aurie Indianna, the image is more than just visually powerful — it’s a continuation of storytelling. Baker Boy wears a sharp black Gucci suit — a kind of performance armour — but his bare feet ground him in Country. Draped across his shoulders is a handwoven pandanus mat, crafted by family. Traditionally used for fishnets and bush medicine baskets, here it becomes a cape: a symbol of strength, heritage, and connection.
“It’s a reminder of home, of culture, and of the support I carry with me even when I’m far from community,” says Baker Boy.
His jewellery — two-tone snake-like forms — honours the Olive Python, his totem. Across his shoulders, he balances a spear made by his father: a ceremonial spear used in buŋgul (ceremony/gathering), symbolising both power and celebration.
The artwork as a whole captures Baker Boy at a powerful intersection: rooted in tradition, stepping into transformation.
The 15-track DJANDJAY album will include previously released singles ‘PEACEKEEPER’ and ‘FREAK OUT feat. Briggs and Haiku Hands’, with new tracks featuring friends and collaborators Pardyalone (US), Thelma Plum, Emma Donovan, Kee’ahn, Jada Weazel, Gold Fang and Jean Deaux (US).
Thrilled to finally be announcing DJANDJAY, Baker Boy shares what we can expect from his second LP, “DJANDJAY is about truth. It’s about strength and defiance. I put my whole self into this album — and it feels like all of me is in there.
“Throughout the making of this album, I kept joking that Baker Boy was growing up and becoming Baker Man. But I think it’s true, I’ve grown up a lot as a person in the last few years since Gela but also became a lot more intentional and focused on what I wanted out of my music and career. I think this album has all of the things Baker Boy is known for, it’s playful and fun but has a more mature twist on it. I’ve explored some different sounds and different energies and really focused on what I want out of my music rather than trying to be what people want me to be.
Baker Boy has always had this positive reputation and that’s still there but also like I guess I’m getting into the more real side of things, some darker, grittier feelings and letting that come out in my music more.”

Maxon Claps Back at the Notion of Aging-Out with Loud, New Single ‘18’ — Out Now
Maxon is back with ‘18’, the first single from her highly anticipated debut album ‘Talking With Strangers’, out July 23 via Gyrostream and her independent label Sandhill Records. A gutsy blend of Americana and ‘70s folk-rock in modern skin, ‘18’ takes a playful, yet powerful jab, at ageism in the music industry – while celebrating artistry at every stage of life.
“I was chatting with my mentor, Charlotte, about the song and she pointed out how interesting it is that when you’re 18, all you want is to be a little older so people will take you seriously,” says Maxon. “And we realised when you’re older, the industry wants you to be 18 again or you feel like you need to be 18… I wanted to write this song to remind myself, and anyone who needs to hear it, that age is nothing, and music is everything.”
Produced by Jono Steer (Angie McMahon, Gretta Ray, Ben Abraham), ‘18’ features ARIA Award-winning artist Mia Dyson on guitar and vocals, with a soul-filled community choir of friends and artists from Naarm/Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. Choir members include folk powerhouse Kerryn Fields, alt-pop artist Mathilde Anne, classic brother duo Cousin Leonard, and members who make up Maxon’s loving community. All showing up to sing for the joy of it.
‘18’ is fun, fierce, and made to be played loud. For fans of Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Chappell Roan and ‘90s-era confessional songwriting with punch, it’s a track that lands somewhere between nostalgia and now. Supported by the Mornington Peninsula Shire & Creative Victoria grants, this is Maxon’s first original solo release since 2021’s Best Shot, a turning point that solidified her voice as an artist.
“Recording ‘Best Shot’ with Jono made me feel understood in a way I hadn’t before. He’s the first producer who asked me what I wanted. That trust helped me write and record an album with Jono that I am deeply proud of.”
The track brims with musicianship: driving drums from Pam Zaharias (Little Wise), pedal steel from Matt Dixon (Emily South), and a rhythm section that includes Ezekiel Fenn (Em Rusciano) and Nay Pattuwage (Like Bear). All layered with shimmering keys, organ, and guitars that wrap around Maxon’s unmistakable vocals.
“Yeah, it was born out of anger, for sure…. but it’s more tongue-in-cheek,” she adds. “Because at the end of the day, most music-lovers don’t care how old you are. If the song is good, that’s what matters. That’s why people press play.”
For the nerds out there, “18” is also available in Dolby Atmos, offering a fully immersive spatial audio experience for listeners on Apple Music. With support from Jono Steer, the track was specially mastered for Dolby Atmos by Joe Carra at Crystal Mastering, with assistant Dolby Atmos engineer Zac Camm, delivering a rich, three-dimensional mix that surrounds the listener with every harmony, groove, and guitar lick.
ABOUT MAXON
Maxon is a queer artist, songwriter, and label co-founder (Sandhill Records) based on Boonwurrung Country / Mornington Peninsula. Her work is grounded in storytelling, sonic vulnerability, and powerful vocals that have drawn comparisons to Alanis Morissette, Sara Bareilles, and Jewel. “18” marks a new era of artistic clarity and self-assurance, leading into her debut record Talking With Strangers, (release date announced soon).

BILLIANNE RELEASES BREEZY, NOSTALGIC NEW SINGLE ‘MEMORIES’ FROM DEBUT EP MODES OF TRANSPORTATION OUT 15 AUGUST
Canadian singer-songwriter Billianne releases ‘Memories,’ the heartfelt latest song from her forthcoming debut album Modes of Transportation (out August 15 via The Orchard). The single follows her transcendent performances on CBS Saturday Morning and COLORS earlier this month, as well as the Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this year.
Billianne says, “‘Memories’ is a reflection on how everything moves so incredibly fast, and the chorus is me reminding myself to hold on to everything that made me who I am and to do so every single day. Next thing I know, I’ll be 80 sitting in a rocking chair, and all I’ll have from this time of still living with my parents, performing on stage, and the conflicts I face will all be memories.”
Billianne’s soaring, rich voice, which Rolling Stone called “effortless, unforgettable” and “like a young Adele,” is front and centre across Modes of Transportation’s 10 original songs. Lacing melancholic daydreams and romantic voyeurism with an eagerness to overflow into the big city, the album is a raw and poetic examination of what it means to move: between places, moments, relationships, and selves. Her recent commanding TV performances showcase the breadth of the forthcoming album. On CBS, the melodic upbeat pop of her Top 10 at Canadian Top 40 Radio hit ‘Crush’ sits beside the slow-burning indie rock of ’90s reminiscent ‘Future Emma,’ and the unreleased standout folk/Americana gem ‘Jessie’s Comet.’ The sparse, unreleased piano ballad ‘Modes I’ allows Billianne’s hauntingly pure voice to showcase its stunning range on COLORS’ esteemed stage. And on Kelly Clarkson, ‘Enough’ is open-hearted and raw, with palpable intensity channelled through her commanding vocal performance.
Hailed by The Toronto Star as “music’s next big voice,” burgeoning 22-year-old Milton, Ontario, singer-songwriter Billianne has been a natural performer her whole life. In October 2021, Billianne scored a major breakthrough when her cover of Tina Turner’s ‘The Best’ went viral on TikTok, rocketing to more than 2 million views and over 26,000 creations—not to mention gaining her an adoring fan base and nods from some of her idols including Taylor Swift, The Lumineers, Joe Jonas, Ryan Reynolds, P!nk, Oprah and Michael Bublé. Since then, she has amassed 100 million streams globally, made her television debut on The Today Show, performing single ‘Daydream,’ and released single “Crush” that broke through the Top 10 at Canadian Top 40 Radio.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats Announce 10 Year Anniversary Edition of Self-titled Album
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats celebrate the tenth anniversary of their beloved, breakout 2015 self-titled debut album, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats this year. In commemoration, Rateliff today confirms a reissue of the record with an additional album’s worth of demo recordings, offering a glimpse at the feverish weeks of inspiration that uncovered a new form of creative expression.
The reissue is set for release October 10—preorder/presave here. In advance of the release, “A Little More Too (Demo)” is out today—listen/share here.
A monumental album in Rateliff’s career, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats kickstarted a ride that has only accelerated in the ensuing decade with career-making moments along the way: From the band’s first appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live, a special on Australia’s 7.30 Report, tours and collaborations with everyone from Paul Simon to Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, and ever-growing venue sizes from clubs to theatres to Rateliff’s beloved Red Rocks to arenas including a sold out Madison Square Garden show.
The band began at just the right time for Rateliff: after years of toiling as a more folk-leaning singer-songwriter to moderate acclaim, Rateliff was considering returning to his previous, more stable, career as a gardener. Fate intervened in the form of a song—toying with the concept of “What if Sam & Dave were in the Band?” Rateliff was inspired to write “Trying So Hard Not to Know,” a devastating yet mesmerizingly soulful confessional of romantic disillusion.
The spigot was opened and the songs poured out in the exact blend he’d imagined of bracing Stax-style R&B and richly crafted roots rock. Recording demos in his attic on GarageBand, this experimentation ultimately comprised the band’s eponymous, gold-selling 2015 debut album, which spawned four top twenty Triple A hits in “I Need Never Get Old,” “Look it Here,” “Wasting Time,” and the two-times platinum “S.O.B.”
On the eleven new demos added to the project, Rateliff shares, “The journey of a song has to start somewhere. Songs can be ideas that sit for years. Sometimes they are hiding from within, and it is up to us to become available, to welcome their melodic birth. Here are eleven unheard ideas that started in my attic a little over ten years ago. I had one mic, a two-channel interface, a two-channel preamp, and my laptop. I used those tools just well enough at the time to capture ideas in the moment they arrived. The process of recording these demos came as such a surprise and lead to making one of my most treasured friendships. I thought I was going to make the last record of my career. Instead, it was the start of a new life.”
Produced by the late, great Richard Swift, the album holds one of the most poignant looks at Swift and Rateliff’s long road of collaboration. Rateliff reflects, “We get a few opportunities in our lives where our paths cross with another force that’s greater than our own, and he certainly left a lasting impact on me. I could take him an idea, and he would just create this entire soundscape. His imprint has been on us with everything I’ve done since then.”
The band’s first late night appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2015 proved a major turning point in the band’s career. “Before we’d even played, my manager came up and said, “You just sold more pre-sales than any record you’ve ever done,” says Rateliff, “we went up there and played and delivered a good performance and had fun. And from then it changed. It was funny because everybody was saying “You’re an overnight success!” But we already had 20 years of a lot of hard work and frustration.”
In a full circle moment, Fallon made a surprise appearance at the band’s landmark, sold-out show at Madison Square Garden this year, joining them for their encore and giving an electric rendition of “S.O.B.”—watch here. Watch the band most recent appearance on The Tonight Show here.
The reissue comes following the announcement a new run of U.S. tour dates and festival appearances for the band this year, including stops in San Diego, Kansas City and performances at Farm Aid, Outlaw Music Festival and more. Additionally, Rateliff will accompany Mumford & Sons solo for select dates on their ‘Mumford & Sons And Friends Tour.’

REDSPENCER ‘THIS IS THE DAY’ (SINGLE)
Melbourne-based, rural NSW-raised indie outfit Redspencer have today revealed the warm and hazy ‘This is the Day’, the first single from their upcoming body of work due out later this year. Listen on Spotify, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music.
Accompanying the release is an endearing animated clip that follows the journey of a personified shopping trolley, from its humble beginnings in a supermarket carpark, to its global voyage to some of the wonders of the world. Watch below.
Recorded with acclaimed writer, producer, and musician Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, Kita Alexander), Redspencer’s return marks their first new music in three years and sees the trio lean into their signature sunny lo-fi guitar-pop. Buoyed by joyful melodies and warm delivery, ‘This is the Day’ is juxtaposed by its lyrical content, as the band share “‘This is the Day’ is another happy song about death, sorry everyone.”
Citing the jangle of The Clientele, the lo-fi grit of Small World Experience, the slacker-dance of Dean Blunt, the dreaminess of Jessica Pratt, and the pop sensibility of early 2000s Madonna as influences, Redspencer’s knack for bringing some of the best parts of the past forward has seen them clock over 2million streams across their releases. In 2016, their debut album Perks garnered praise across the globe, with catchy lead single ‘Ride It Out’ earning comparisons to Mac DeMarco, The War On Drugs, and Real Estate. The band’s 2021 follow up Dreamworld showcased a more polished – yet still just as thoughtful – sound for Redspencer, hailed by Beat Magazine as “sensational” and launched to a full capacity Brunswick Ballroom in early 2022.
‘This is the Day’ is out now, with more announcements to follow.
