PIERCE BROTHERS SHARE PASSIONATE NEW SINGLE ‘ALASKA, ALASKA’

Awash with acoustic glimmers, rousing harmonies and a raw yet rousing glow, the brand new single Alaska Alaska out today from folk duo Pierce Brothers is a heartfelt new addition to the pair’s brand new sonic chapter. Set to perform Alaska Alaska, as well as their most recent 2025 release Losing Friends When You’re Older, alongside a horde of fan-favourites in Australia this October and November, the pair will also kick off 2026 with an extensive UK and European headline tour, with multiple shows already entirely sold out.

Penned by Jack Pierce and Patrick Pierce, aka the eponymous Pierce Brothers, Alaska Alaska opens with glistening acoustic guitar and emphatic vocals, quickly swelling into lush vocal interplay between both Pierce Brothers, stomping percussion and soaring choruses, topped off with a rousing harmonica solo that ultimately leads to an exuberant conclusion. Self-produced alongside long-time collaborator Phil Threlfal, Alaska Alaska welds the modern sensibilities and musical charm that beats at the Pierce Brothers core alongside nods to some of the true greats of the folk and acoustic realms, as Jack explains, “I think this is an affecting syncable song that really sits in the world of big folk with lots of space. Influences of Eddie Vedder’s acoustic stuff and Bob Dylan are fairly clear here!”

A song laden with passion and rumination, Alaska Alaska also powerfully draws into relatable territory, both lyrically and musically, with the track balancing its yearning yet uplifting instrumentals with lyricism inspired by a real-world Pierce Brothers experience; and a truly affirming real-life love story. “This is a love story about longing,” shares Jack. “Alaska Alaska was written about a time when my wife was travelling through Alaska and we’d decided to take a break in the early months of our relationship about 10 years ago, we were both travelling and finding ourselves. It’s an exploration of wanting the person you love to find peace, even if it does mean you lose them, and the struggle between wanting the best for them, but also selfishly wanting them to come back.”

“Funnily enough this song will be released on my wife’s birthday,” Jack adds, “and we have been married for five years with two beautiful kids.”

Between ongoing chart successes, touring the globe as headliners and alongside an eye-watering array of icons, generating millions of streams and fostering a devoted fanbase that only swells with each new release and performance, Pierce Brothers, aka twin brothers Jack and Patrick Pierce have become – and firmly remained – a dynamic fixture in the Australian music and broader global music scene. Starting their creative journey busking on the streets of Melbourne, the duo’s unmistakable charm, dexterous storytelling and potent mix of high energy indie folk, blues and roots has seen them release two top 15 ARIA albums, two Top 10 ARIA Eps, dazzle arenas alongside James Blunt and Tash Sultana, tour across the UK, North America, South Africa and Australia, and also perform at the likes of Bluesfest Byron Bay, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival and countless more.

Announcing themselves to the world via their breakout 2014 EP The Night Tree, Pierce Brothers most recently channelled their creative and personal growth into their acclaimed third studio album Everything Is Bigger Than Me, with the album debuting at #1 on the Australian Albums Chart and snagging a top 20 debut on the all-genres, all-formats Albums Chart, leading to Australia’s Rolling Stone to declare, “Everything Is Bigger Than Me is a sign of the Pierce Brothers’ maturity as both musicians and men.”

Never ones to rest on their laurels, Pierce Brothers kicked off 2025 with an extensive 10th anniversary tour for The Night Tree EP, and also released their first new material since the resounding success that was 2024’s Everything Is Bigger Than Me via the duo’s foot-stomping new single Losing Friends When You’re Olderthat unveiled last month. Most recently performing at the iconic Mundi Mundi Bash, Pierce Brothers will close out 2025 performing at Lake Tyers Beach and Merimbula in October, and at Graze The Day in Timboon and Queenscliff Music Festival in November, before bursting into 2026 with a hotly-anticipated UK and European run, with multiple shows already sold out.

“We can’t wait to get back over to Europe and the UK!” shares Patrick. “Every time we get over there is an adventure! We always try to fit in as many shows as we can, so it’s definitely going to be hard, but always fun!”

But before the brothers kick off 2026 with some undoubtedly unforgettable moments to add to their legacy, 2025 is wrapping up in stunning fashion, including the release of Alaska Alaska today.

“I’m stoked with how Alaska Alaska came together in the end,” Jack concludes. “We took a bunch of different approaches to the song, but in the end we stripped a lot of it back to its bones, as we just loved the simplicity of the melody, and the story it tells!”

HANNAH ACFIELD RELEASES “I’LL ALWAYS BE THERE” – A LOVE SONG FOR TOBY

Melbourne singer-songwriter Hannah Acfield releases her third single I’ll Always Be There today, the latest song from her forthcoming album Golden Light (out November 7, 2025).  Written for her beloved 18-year-old rescue dog Toby, the track is an uplifting folk-pop love song with soul-tinged phrasing that celebrates loyalty, devotion, and unconditional love.

The inspiration came when a fellow songwriter asked, ‘Have you written a love song for Toby? Every dog needs a love song.’ Hannah immediately knew the answer was yes.

“Every dog really does deserve a love song — and especially an old dog!” says Acfield. “A dog’s love is unconditional, and Toby has been by my side through everything. I’ve had Toby for 17 years, which is such a long time, and before he goes, I wanted him to know that no matter what, I’m here. This one’s also for all the dog lovers out there — I hope it reminds people of the special bond they share with their own four-legged companions.”

Built on a bright, roots-driven groove, the song captures the joy of everyday moments — long walks, day trips in the car, sunlight and breeze — before arriving at a final verse so moving that Acfield admits she struggled to record it without crying. That vulnerability remains in the recording, a testament to the depth of her bond with Toby and the enduring nature of love.

The single follows I Got You and Truth, both released earlier this year. Both tracks have been warmly received, gaining strong support on streaming platforms and airplay across community radio in Australia, the Netherlands, the UK, and the USA/Canada. I’ll Always Be There continues this thread of intimate storytelling and emotional honesty that runs through Acfield’s work — a defining quality of Golden Light.

I’ll Always Be There is available on all streaming platforms today, 24 September 2025.

Golden Light will be released worldwide on 7 November 2025.

MORE ABOUT HANNAH ACFIELD
Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Hannah Acfield returns in 2025 with a new studio album “Golden Light”. Described by The Weekend Australian as “a triumph of talent,” and praised by Joan Armatrading for her “beautiful voice,” Hannah blends the emotional grit of soul with the storytelling of folk and the luminous textures of gospel. Her sound sits comfortably alongside artists like Lianne La Havas, Linda Ronstadt, and Emily King—organic, heartfelt, and steeped in connection.

An established presence in the Australian music scene, Hannah’s debut solo album No Light Without Shade (2021) marked a turning point, landing at #20 on the AIR charts and earning widespread acclaim. She followed it with Live at The Aviary (2023), a one-take live album and film showcasing her dynamic vocal command. Earlier in her career, she released two solo EPs under her own name, and was also part of sibling folk duo The Acfields, with whom she released two albums and an EP.

Hannah has toured extensively throughout Australia and performed internationally in the UK and Ireland, appearing at festivals including the National Folk Festival, Nannup Music Festival, Perthshire Amber (Scotland), Bendigo Blues & Roots Festival, and more. She has supported Joan Armatrading, Liz Stringer and The Meltdown. As a soloist with the Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir, she performed at Falls Festival and Port Fairy Folk Festival—receiving a standing ovation for her gospel solo in front of 5,000 people.

Hannah has also showcased at major international industry events including Folk Alliance International (USA) and Focus Wales (UK). Her 2025/26 plans include more touring in Europe and the US.

CARLA GENEVE Shares new single ‘Ashamed’. New album Don’t Be Afraid out 17 Oct

Multi-award-winning songwriter Carla Geneve today releases her new single ‘Ashamed’, the third single taken from her forthcoming album Don’t Be Afraid due Friday 17 October via Dot Dash Recordings / Remote Control. Following on from previous singles, ‘Here, Look’ and ‘Better Believe It’, the new single shows Geneve at her most reflective, with piano-led instrumentation framing her direct, intimate lyrics.

Speaking on ‘Ashamed’, Carla shares, “This is another one of the tracks that we redid. This one was originally theatrical, grandiose. We never quite knew how to finish it off, it felt as though it should be just a solo piano and vocal song and we toyed with that idea too.

When I came back in to record with Dan I was so over it and neither of us knew the direction to take. We knew that it needed some kind of drums and for the whole thing to be about 10 bpm faster, the record felt like it was dropping off in terms of momentum at this point, falling in a hole of sadness, when shame should be a path to a new phase, not an end point.

The scratch vocal I did first was nonchalant and easy going, which actually felt like it served the narrative better, especially at that point. Embarrassed but not being torn apart with emotion.
We went with that and Dan built up something that felt more upbeat and hopeful.

Shame is a helpful and harmful motive in our lives and relationships. When you truly care about a situation it is easy to let shame control you, though there is so much growth and beauty to be taken from learning from why you experience that feeling.’

Don’t Be Afraid is Carla Geneve’s most intimate and profound work yet, a meditation on honesty, acceptance, and the courage to face life’s shadows without fear. Inspired by the final words of poet Seamus Heaney, the album’s title reflects a quiet but powerful embrace of flaws, both in ourselves and those around us. In a world often ruled by fear, Geneve offers a beacon of hope. When we shed that fear, we gain control over the anger, anxiety, and pain that divide and destroy us.

Unlike her previous albums, Don’t Be Afraid is a true collaboration with producer Dan Carroll, who has shaped the soundscape with his own intuitive touch, adding layers and nuance to Geneve’s stories. Together, they found freedom in letting go of perfection and control, allowing the music to breathe and evolve naturally. Tracks like ‘The Saddle’ paint wistful rural scenes with bittersweet undertones, while her single ‘Passing’ reflects Geneve’s ability to turn pain into something tender and resilient. ‘Here, Look’ challenges the culture of blame and invites empathy in an increasingly divided world, and ‘Woman Like Me’ confronts the double standards faced by strong, self-driven women.

Throughout Don’t Be Afraid, Geneve holds space for complexity, forgiveness, fear, love, shame, all with a delicate balance of honesty and grace. Her fourth studio album asks us to look closer, to accept our scars, and above all, to live unafraid.

Geneve’s debut Learn To Like It (2020) was AMP-nominated and followed by Hertz (2023), a record shaped by major life changes and her ongoing commitment to unflinching self-expression. With Don’t Be Afraid and new single ‘Here, Look’, Geneve continues to expand her voice as one of Australia’s most distinctive songwriters.

PAUL KELLY UNVEILS POWERFUL NEW SINGLE ‘THE BODY KEEPS THE SCORE’

FROM KELLY’S FORTHCOMING ALBUM ‘SEVENTY’ – OUT NOVEMBER 7
PRE-ORDER HERE NOW

RED HOT SUMMER 2026 TICKETS ON SALE
CLICK HERE FOR DATES & TICKETS

Fresh from a phenomenal sold-out arena tour of Australia and New Zealand, Paul Kelly today releases ‘The Body Keeps The Score’, the deeply affecting second single from his forthcoming album SEVENTY (released November 7).

The track follows the runaway success of ‘Rita Wrote A Letter’ – Kelly’s long-awaited sequel to the beloved Australian classic ‘How To Make Gravy’ – and arrives as the master storyteller is announced as headliner for Red Hot Summer Tour 2026, with tickets on sale today at 9am AEST.

‘The Body Keeps The Score’ finds Kelly at his most contemplative, transforming Bessel van der Kolk’s groundbreaking investigation into trauma into a haunting musical meditation. The song explores how complex trauma can become buried in our bodies, surfacing unexpectedly to affect not only those who experienced it but those who love them.

“On a road trip, years ago, from Mullumbimby to Melbourne, I listened to the audiobook ‘The Body Keeps The Score’ by Bessel van der Kolk,” Kelly explains. “It’s an investigation into the complex effects of trauma, how it can become buried in our bodies. How it can surface unexpectedly and cause harm not only to the person who experienced the trauma but to those who love them. I carried the title with me ever since that drive until one day last year at Bill Miller’s place, playing around with a tune, the words started to come out.”

The track features acclaimed Australian musician and APRA Song of the Year 2018 winner Bill Miller, who co-wrote the song and provides vocal harmonies and e-bow, adding atmospheric depth to Kelly’s masterful storytelling.

WATCH HERE:

Kelly’s recent sold-out arena tour reinforced his position as Australia’s unofficial poet laureate, with Rolling Stone declaring: “He is one of the grand masters of songwriting and our unofficial poet laureate. This year he turned 70, and long may he run.” The Age reflected on his enduring cultural impact: “Kelly’s set got me thinking about how he’s baked into our national consciousness, and perhaps played a part in forming it.”

The announcement of Kelly as Red Hot Summer 2026 headliner promises another chapter in his extraordinary live performance legacy. Supported by Missy Higgins, The Cruel Sea, The Cat Empire, Kasey Chambers, and Jess Hitchcock, the outdoor festival series is set to be one of the summer’s hottest tickets. Click here for more information.

“The band and I have many great memories from our last Red Hot Summer tour. We’re looking forward to making some new ones!” Kelly says.

At 70, Kelly continues to prove why he remains Australia’s most treasured musical storyteller. His forthcoming album SEVENTY showcases an artist still at the peak of his powers, drawing from sources as varied as W.B. Yeats and Lord of the Rings while maintaining the intimate, deeply human touch that has made him the chronicler of modern Australian life. The album’s cover, featuring a striking portrait by photographer Dean Podmore, pays homage to the iconic 1988 Jon Lewis photograph of Paul – a visual echo that bridges nearly four decades of artistry and reflects the album’s themes of taking stock and celebrating continuity.

From the streets of St Kilda to the vast emotional landscapes of the human experience, Kelly’s four-decade career has created a songbook that spans everything from bluegrass to experimental dub, from Shakespeare sonnets to multilingual Christmas albums. His legendary compositions have become part of Australia’s cultural DNA, while his collaborations with Indigenous artists including Kev Carmody, Archie Roach and Yothu Yindi have seen him stand shoulder to shoulder in the fight for justice.

As The Age notes: “He’s forever connecting us back to memory, to place, to home.” With ‘The Body Keeps The Score’, Kelly once again demonstrates his unparalleled ability to transform the most complex human experiences into songs that resonate across generations.

JIM WHITE (DIRTY THREE, XYLOURIS WHITE, ED KUEPPER JIM WHITE, THE HARD QUARTET etc) RELEASES SECOND SINGLE/VIDEO FROM FORTHCOMING SECOND DRAG CITY SOLO ALBUM INNER DAY

Jim White proudly announces a new single, “I Don’t Do / Grand Central,” a marvelously turbulent vocal duet between Jim and New York-based free jazz musician and composer Zoh Amba. The new music video, edited by Eve Sussman, demonstrates Jim and Zoh in lineage with the great vocal pairings such as Birkin/Gainsbourg, The Human League, and Goyte/Kimbra. The spirited exchange takes the pair straight to the Oyster Bar of Grand Central Station where the two commune and parry in delightful form a la Belmondo/Seberg. Join them on the 4 train – next stop, the Northeast Corridor. Turning Leaves!

Find “I Don’t Do/Grand Central” along with 12 other bangers on Jim’s second solo album, Inner Day, out on October 24th. This follow-up to 2024’s All Hits: Memories, made in tandem once again with producer Guy Picciotto, is an open invitation for every listener to find their own inner day.

Master drummer Jim White announces one of 2025’s most unlikely debuts – himself as lyricist and vocalist! Following his first solo album — 2024’s All Hits: Memories — Jim’s deep percussive intuition continues to fuel a new musical vehicle in his life with a new album: Inner Day, out October 24 on Drag City.

Inner Day finds Jim dancing ever more deftly with himself with a new selection of songs. Developing meditations on his personal arcana into expressive keyboard feels, he crafts parts as he would on the kit, further interacting with them on drums as well. Jim sings on two standout tracks, “Inner Day” and “I Don’t Do / Grand Central” (featuring guest vocals from Zoh Amba). The lead single “Inner Day” features the first set of lyrics Jim’s ever written.““Inner Day” is about veils and how the unconscious doesn’t follow the waking person’s clock,” Jim says. “It doesn’t follow the external so-called laws of temporality and causality. Do you?”

In just the past five years, Jim’s collaborators include Bill Callahan, Cat Power, Daniel Blumberg, Ed Kuepper and Mess Esque, alongside communal experiences in Xylouris White, Jim White and Marisa Anderson, The Double, Springtime, Beings, The Hard Quartet and Dirty Three. Coming forty years into his career, his first solo album felt like some kind of breakthrough happening. “On my first album All Hits: Memories, I wanted to have a keyboard sound to keep the drums company as together they celebrated why some things just ‘hit’ the psyche, why some memories stick,” Jim says. “Later, I found the notes wanted to move more and so on my second album Inner Day, that is what they do.” Working again with co-producer and long-time collaborator Guy Picciotto, Jim travels further into the hypnotic relationships that they captured on his first record.

Additionally, Jim and Guy have joined with Colleen Burke to create the Jim White Trio. They will make their first performance at Bad Bonn Kilbi in Switzerland on Thursday, September 5.

Jim will then reunite with Ed Kuepper in Australia for a limited run of October shows in support of their new album After the Flood.

INDIE SHOEGAZE ARTIST SINGER. MATTRESS. CAT. ANNOUNCES DEBUT LP ‘SUBTROPICAL PERSONALITY’

Australian shoegaze artist Singer. Mattress. Cat. announces his stripped-back debut album Subtropical Personality, due out December 1 and available to pre-save now. With the announcement, the artist shares the first taste with “Little Broken Moon,” a reflection on heartbreak and fractured relationships out now. Led by Martin Cooke of cult favorite indie rock outfit Gaslight Radio, the new project is an ode to survival and meets the longtime musician where he is today as he positively reflects on the passage of time, hardship and failure.

Written over the last two years on NYC’s Lower East Side on an old acoustic guitar and recorded in Melbourne, the forthcoming lo-fi project cements the artist’s memories–the good and the bad–hidden in a subtext of humorous melancholy. Cooke shares, “The album is a homage to that wildness of my childhood and all the friends who turned to crime to survive. I am the one left holding the torch to tell their stories.”

As it documents his life and celebrates his failures, the artist reflects, “I have always lived by the notion that music, or any art form for that matter, should be about failing beautifully. Embrace your failures, for your success will be the death of your art. I have been failing forever. I would never have it any other way. As long as I like the stuff I write. And I guess that is all that really counts.”

Today’s release, “Little Broken Moon,” muses on the heartbreak of a first love, missed connections and leaving everything behind in order to grow. The song’s protagonist holds onto the memory of his former love with photos and mementos, coming to terms with its end. The artist says the tune is a, “blink and you’ll miss it” track centered around fractured relationships, and the realization that sometimes you need to leave everything and everyone behind to get where you need to be.” It was mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer Chris Gehringer (Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Lady Gaga).

Martin Cooke formed indie rock band Gaslight Radio with his brother, Rory Cooke, in Queensland in 1995 to much acclaim and built a cult-like following. Australian Broadcast Company wrote the band’s music is, “restrained and anthemic” and features “woozy guitar lines, towering shards of distortion and enigmatic lyrics.” The group shared stages with The Breeders, Teenage Fan Club, Sparklehorse, Pavement, Spoon, Pulp, Yo La Tengo and more and soundtracked Armani’s campaign in winter 2015. Now, three decades later, the musician is ready to re-introduce himself with a full-length album that captures the joy of music-making and transports listeners back to his childhood suburban Australian streets.

Singer. Mattress. Cat. holds on to love lost with “Little Broken Moon” out now. Stay tuned for his raw debut record Subtropical Personality available to pre-save now and connect via Instagram.

BOOTLEG RASCAL UNVEIL TRACK AND VIDEO FOR ‘STREET SHARK’ PLUS ANNOUNCE ALBUM RELEASE DATE

Off the back of a relentless 12-month release and touring schedule, Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based duo, Bootleg Rascal, have just revealed their brooding number ‘Street Shark’ – co-written with long time friends Seamus Coyle and Freddy Crabs (Sticky Fingers).

The track is the final cut before their self-titled album (due October 29) – produced by Caleb Tasker (The Terrys, Rum Jungle) and mixed by Ian Pritchett (Angus and Julia Stone, Boo Seeka).

Taking cues from the likes of Massive Attack, Gorillaz and MGMT, ‘Street Shark’ shines a light on a more introspective side of the band’s repertoire. A hypnotic and poignant slow burn, the single layers lush, airy instrumentation with deft precision, all brought to life by the endearing and dream-soaked vocals of front man Carlos Lara. The band harness dynamics with finesse, gradually building toward a soaring crescendo outro, where ethereal guitars and arpeggiated synths swirl into a mesmeric finale.

Guitarist Jimmy Young talks about the themes behind the track: “‘Street Shark’ feels like one of our more sombre tracks. It touches on self-reflection and those moments where you might feel like a bit of a loner or even a bit of a piece of sh*t. But it’s not all negative – it’s also about taking the good with the bad and making the best out of hard situations. It’s about accepting yourself for who you are, while feeling nostalgic about the good times that have passed. All those themes are tied up in the song.”

Alongside the track comes its accompanying music video, shot and directed by Hamish Stephen (Freddy Crabs, Danté Knows) across Eora/Sydney’s Inner West and CBD. Echoing the themes of the song, the clip explores lonerism and self-discovery, while also evoking moments of hope and nostalgia amidst life’s inevitable ups and downs.

The band is currently touring Australia and New Zealand, featuring a mix of free entry shows, ticketed events, and headlining festivals Oktoberfest at Polytech Stadium, and Dunedin Beer Festival at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

This follows on from their nationwide Australian ‘BOOTY BLOCK PARTY’ tour and tremendous ‘Steppin Round The World’ tour of New Zealand, and the UK/EU, including stops in France, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and England. Additionally, they’ve played festivals such as Salty Hops, Live At The Pines, Winter Wine, and Spaced Out, and supported reggae legends Steel Pulse (UK).

ABBY WALLACE RELEASES DIZZYING NEW SINGLE ‘MONTAGE’

Rising Tasmanian indie-pop artist Abby Wallace releases her latest single ‘Montage’, a song for the anxious over-thinker in all of us. The track follows previous singles ‘Atlantic Blue’ and ‘Big Feet, Bigger Shoes’, both released earlier this year.

Montage is about feeling inescapably tethered to the past; laying awake, endlessly reliving moments that would be better forgotten. The raw fragility in Abby’s voice is highlighted by softly strummed verses; there is a quiet earnestness that sways and swells into sweeping repetition as the chorus breaks through. Like listening to a soundbite from an anxious inner-monologue, this track is oozing with vulnerability and melancholy.

Abby muses, “Montage is about feeling stuck. The repetition in the choruses brings the listener into that space. There is a sense of moving on autopilot, of being here but also not here at all.”

Produced by the acclaimed John Castle (Angie McMahon, Vance Joy), Abby draws both sonic and lyrical inspiration from the likes of Samia, Maggie Rogers, and Tori Amos. She walks a tightrope between fragility and fearlessness, knitting raw introspection with warm, expansive production. There’s a vividly nostalgic edge to her sound in the way she harnesses a yearning romanticism, but tempered with a sharp, lived-in lyricism.

Of the track’s creation, Abby recalls: “John and I made Montage in the same day or two as Atlantic Blue. Montage had been written about a week prior. We listened to many demos at the start of the session and I played live a handful of songs I’d written recently while John sifted through the tracks and took notes. When I finished playing Montage, he hadn’t taken a single note—he just said “that’s the one”, and we started working.”

Upcoming Live Shows

9 November, 2025 – Three Songs Each Showcase, The Evelyn, Melbourne VIC

About Abby Wallace:
Abby Wallace is an emerging indie-pop artist from Lutruwita/Tasmania. She blends folk sensibilities with expansive production, crafting songs that are intimate, shimmering, and deeply human. Following a long creative pause, Abby’s return to music in 2025 has marked a powerful re-entry. Her debut singles have seen her receive widespread early praise, including key recognition from triple j Unearthed. This year, Abby has shared the stage with artists Adam Newling, Mia Wray and Thelma Plum.

Beyond music, Abby is also a writer, reader and mother. Whether in song or in prose, Abby’s work always reaches toward truth, tenderness, and the quiet bravery of being fully alive. She is currently moulding her debut collection of songs on the banks of the Kanamaluka/River Tamar in Launceston, alongside acclaimed producer John Castle.

EMELINE SHARES PROPULSIVE NEW SINGLE + VIDEO

A propulsive, vulnerable and sharply modern (yet classic) love song, today Los Angeles-via-Rhode Island artist, songwriter and producer EMELINE unveils Emotional Virgin, forging a glossy and sonically vibrant aesthetic into both the anthemic track and its evocative accompanying music video, with the Emotional Virgin also marking her first ever ode to love. STREAM / WATCH:: EMOTIONAL VIRGIN

Buoyed by lush instrumentals and driving beats, Emotional Virgin dazzles alongside EMELINE’s crystalline vocals, nodding to stylistic hues of Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Prince, while also intimately capturing the blissful innocence and excitement of falling in love for the first time. “A lot of my legacy as an artist has been about my past and liberating myself from the pain I’ve been through,” shares EMELINE. “With this song, I am feeling real love for the first time. I am feeling just like a kid with a crush, shocked with the way someone is looking at me with such sweetness in their eyes. Being an “emotional” virgin is about feeling real love for the first time, and I’m really happy to share with my fans that I’ve gotten there. I hope you love my very first love song.”

Working alongside producer Peter Thomas, EMELINE co-wrote Emotional Virgin with Peter as well as Sarah “Solly” Solovay and Sean Kennedy, with mixing by Victor Verpillat, and mastering by Dale Becker and Katie Harvey. And devising the accompanying music video’s concept and creative direction entirely herself, spurred by some sharp visual ideas from day one, EMELINE teamed up with Paige Strabala who co-directed and co-edited the vibrant and ultimately transcendent clip. “Paige is such an incredible creative who puts her all into the art she makes,” says EMELINE. “It’s beautiful when everyone involved cares the same amount, you can make anything happen.”

“I have a super visual mind and pictured the colors/visuals as I wrote the song,” EMELINE adds. “I wanted to bring a camp-y feeling 80’s pop-star blowing in the wind mixed with a bit of rocky horror. I have a “hands on me” theme with my project and a classic black and red color theme. I wanted to express the vulnerability that it feels to have a crush. It feels other worldly, like you’re in your own dimension.  I wanted to express be the pop-star version of what my heart feels like when I’m truly falling for someone.”

With nearly 1 billion global streams under her belt, sold-out shows centred around female empowerment and a legion of fans around the world, EMELINE has rapidly become one of the most provocative and powerful new voices in pop. An entirely hands-on creative, writing, producing and directing every aspect of her artistic universe, EMELINE has become renowned for her spellbinding vocals and fearless, feminist perspective, first turning heads via her 2017 performance at the Women’s March. Since then, her strident yet insightful output, cinematic music videos and burgeoning social media presence has continued to flourish, leading to the release of her debut 2025 EP, the devil on my bra strap, which released in May this year to widespread acclaim. Ticking off major editorial support, a coveted co-sign from Elton John on Apple Music’s ‘Rocket Hour’, and securing a spot as a featured artist for YouTube Music PRIDE, EMELINE has also previously had her music featured in hit series on Apple TV and Netflix, received airplay on domestic and international radio, and achieved RIAA Gold certification.

A pop powerhouse in every sense of the word, equal parts bold, blunt, ethereal and proudly feminine, EMELINE’s creative reach also extends well into to Australia, and continually treats her fans worldwide to ongoing creative Easter eggs and pure passion poured into every facet of her work.

“I am a deep feeler and a deep thinker,” EMELINE reveals. “I love putting my all into my work and attracting intellectual fans who can obsess over little details and lyrics the way that I do for the art that I love and consume. Being an artist was never a choice for me, I’ve been one since before I could remember. I feel really lucky that I’ve always known my purpose. And I’ve been able to grow that love into something bigger than I could’ve imagined… healing myself and others.”

“I also think Australia is full of tastemakers,” EMELINE adds, “and I cannot wait to tour there one day soon.”

Recently releasing the single PORN STAR, and with a follow up debut album slated for release in 2026, EMELINE continues to wow with her sound, embracing the glamour and drama of ABBA, Queen and Madonna with a raw, modern-day honesty. But before the arrival of her forthcoming album, fans can devour EMELINE’s latest sonic charmer, Emotional Virgin.

“It feels cathartic to be releasing Emotional Virgin,” shares EMELINE. “This project has been close to my chest for a long time and I got to make it with such a tight knit crew. I am more than ready to jump into this new era and my debut album head first.”

Emotional Virgin is out today.

TORIZON TACKLE INFERTILITY ON CONCEPT EP ‘MELIORA’
UNVEIL MOVING SINGLE ‘HOLD ON’

Meanjin/Brisbane-based petalcore outfit Torizon release their debut concept EP ‘Meliora’. To mark this exciting news, the group reveal their poignant new single ‘Hold On’, produced and mixed by Kalen Austin, and mastered by Mike Kalajian at Rogue Planet Studios (Bad Omens, Windwaker, Papa Roach).

Challenging societal perceptions around miscarriage, grief, and recovery, ‘Meliora’ spans six tracks charting the journey of characters Luna and Samson. The final chapter, ‘Hold On,’ embodies catharsis and healing as it balances modern metal’s heaviness with delicate vulnerability. Proggy guitars, high-impact rhythms and shimmering strings surge in as Mish Sharma and Ben Gallaher’s call-and-response vocals interweave to paint a stirring finale.

Torizon touch on the inspiration behind ‘Meliora’:

“We wanted this EP to hopefully create a deeper sense of understanding about fertility struggles, which is not often talked about. The title came from the Latin phrase ‘Ad Meliora’, meaning ‘towards better things’, and it represents the resilience of anyone who has lived through these experiences. ‘Hold On’ is our way of urging listeners to keep pushing forward, even in their darkest moments.”

Accompanying the track is a short video by Emerge Creative, depicting Luna and Sam reconnecting after losing their baby. “You’ll see the couple coming together to support others facing fertility struggles,” explains Mish. “As an egg donor, I’ve witnessed firsthand the difference it can make for couples trying to start a family, and we wanted to pay homage to assisted reproductive technology.”

This year has seen Torizon release a slew of singles which have been warmly received by Music Feeds, Backseat Mafia, The Music, HEAVY Mag, Apple Music’s ‘Breaking Hard Rock’, ‘The Riff’ (AU/NZ), ‘New In Rock’ (AU/NZ) and ‘Bring The Noise’ (NZ). The tracks have also seen support from triple j, Unearthed and Australian community stations such as 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide, SYN Media, Edge Radio, 2SER, and PBS FM.

Mish was also a panel speaker alongside Emmy Mack (RedHook), Monica Strut (The Last Martyr) and Lauren Coleman (Aurateque), spotlighting minorities in the heavy music industry. The panel was a part of UsFest at The Landsdowne, Sydney’s 100th birthday celebration.

In the live arena, Torizon have packed hometown headline shows and shared stages with Circles, Valhalore, The Last Martyr, Days Like These, These Four Walls, Aurateque and NTH RD. This October, the band will bring their high-impact performances to the East Coast for their first-ever headline tour. Joined by Naarm/Melbourne’s alt-metal outfit New Million, the tour will stop in Eora/Sydney, Naarm/Melbourne, and Meanjin/Brisbane and will also feature local, heavy acts from each city. Larissa Lambert delivers her highly anticipated EP, Chronosick

Larissa Lambert, the rising global R&B sensation, is entering a new era with the release of her sophomore EP Chronosick out now via New Levels. Executive produced by Grammy-nominated hitmaker Khaled Rohaim (Rihanna, Juice WRLD, The Kid LAROI), Chronosick showcases Larissa’s versatility, as she seamlessly blends vulnerable lyricism with genre-defying production, moving between soulful ballads, moody R&B, and hard-hitting club anthems. The single ‘Hurts Anymore’ sets the tone for an EP that promises to be her most personal and sonically evolved project yet.

Larissa’s recent trajectory has been nothing short of explosive. She’s recently received co-signs from global superstars including Justin Bieber, SZA, Ty Dolla $ign, Craig David, and more—an indication of her growing influence in the international music scene. Her tracks have landed on coveted playlists like Hot Hits Australia, amplifying her reach and affirming her place in the country’s pop and R&B vanguard.

This year alone, Larissa sold out her debut headline tour across Australia and New Zealand, bringing her captivating live energy to thousands of fans. She also took her talents to Asia, performing a special set at Shanghai’s iconic casino resort, marking her first foray into the Chinese live music market.

In December 2025, Larissa will come full circle with a hometown performance at Spilt Milk festival in Ballarat, cementing her as one of the country’s most exciting homegrown acts.
Building on the momentum of past releases like ‘You’re Still Mine’ & ‘Cardio’ which earned her a billboard placement in Times Square for Spotify’s EQUAL campaign and extensive BBC Radio 1Xtra and triple j support, Larissa continues to redefine modern R&B on her own terms. She’s toured alongside Kehlani, graced covers and features in Rolling Stone, Complex, and Tone Deaf, and earned consistent support from both Australian and global media.

Larissa Lambert is not just making waves—she’s creating a tidal shift in the genre.

PARIS PALOMA CALLS OUT THE LAPDOGS OF PATRIARCHY ON NEW SINGLE “GOOD BOY” FEAT. ACTRESS EMMA THOMPSON. RELEASES MUSIC VIDEO STARRING TOM BLYTH WATCH HERE

This is a PSA, Paris Paloma is calling on men to stop chasing their tails for approval from a system that oppresses everyone, including them, on new single “Good Boy” feat. Emma Thompson. The song claps back at the manosphere with biting wit and unflinching honesty, flipping its rhetoric into a rallying cry for dismantling patriarchy and reclaiming solidarity between men and women. Listen HERE and watch the music video, directed by BAFTA winning Georgie Cowan-Turner and starring actor Tom Blyth, HERE.

“’Good Boy’ is a message to men that you have more in common with me, more in common with everyday women, than you do with men in power pushing capitalist patriarchy; so don’t be their good boy. Any knee-jerk reaction to women criticising and working against patriarchy, by calling women ‘man haters’, bites off your own nose, and upholds a system that isolates and betrays you, cutting you off from community and love. You won’t be rewarded by those in power for upholding a system that harms you and benefits them. You’ll get nothing, not even so much as a ‘good boy,’” urges Paris.

WATCH & SHARE: PARIS PALOMA “GOOD BOY” https://parispaloma.ffm.to/goodboy

Paris will be performing “Good Boy” at All Things Go Festival in Columbia, MD on September 27 and in NYC on September 28, alongside Noah Kahan, Doechii, Lucy Dacus, and more. Then, Paris will join Florence + The Machine as a special guest on her UK/EU arena tour starting February 6th in Belfast and wrapping on March 9th in Berlin. This follows a handful of festival appearances at Glastonbury, Southside, Bergenfest and sold out UK, EU and US runs, including her most recent sold out headline show “Goodbye Cacophony,” closing the chapter on her debut album 1 year after the release and paving the way for “Good Boy” in an intimate celebration at London’s Hoxton Hall. Along the way, Paris has fostered a devoted fanbase that has transformed her live shows into unforgettable events, from trading fairy messages to swapping books to impromptu fae circles. Tickets are available to purchase HERE.

Watch Paris’ short film A Space Between Claps documenting her shows and fan impact HERE.

Paris Paloma is a commanding new force in indie folk, weaving haunting vocals and unflinching storytelling into songs that confront power, femininity, and resilience. Her Gold-certified breakout single “labour” became a cultural lightning rod, sparking over 11 billion views across social media and over 480 million streams on Spotify alone. The anthem has fueled viral trends and global movements—soundtracking everything from reproductive rights campaigns on KamalaHQ and anti–sexual violence advocacy in support of Gisele Pelicot to the empowering run like a girl phenomenon.

The track’s impact has carried Paris to major stages and screens, including performances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, BBC’s Later…with Jools Holland, and The Kelly Clarkson Show, as well as invitations to support superstar Noah Kahan and the legendary Stevie Nicks at Hyde Park in London. Widely celebrated by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Billboard, CNN, The Boston Globe, PAPER, Bust, and more, she has also been spotlighted as YouTube’s Trending Artist on the Rise, an Amazon Breakthrough Artist to Watch, a Spotify Juniper Artist to Watch, and a Spotify EQUAL Ambassador.

In 2024, Paris added to her accolades by performing “The Rider” for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, joining a legacy of musical icons like Ed Sheeran, Annie Lennox, and Enya who have lent their voices to the Tolkien universe.

“Good Boy,” is the follow up to Paris Paloma’s critically-lauded 2024 debut album, Cacophony, which landed on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart at #23 and today boasts combined streams of nearly 1 Billion. The album tells stories of grief, love and trauma through the lens of Greek mythology, gothic literature, and patriarchal oppression. Listen to Cacophony HERE and stay tuned for more details on new music.

WEDNESDAY SHARE NEW ALBUM BLEEDS

North Carolina group Wednesday release their anticipated new album, Bleeds, today via Dead Oceans. On the already critically acclaimed album, Wednesday present an intoxicating collection of narrative-heavy Southern rock that—like many of the most arresting passages from the band’s discography—thoughtfully explores the vivid link between curiosity and confession.

Bleeds is a patchwork-style triumph of literary allusions and outlaw grit, of place-based poetry and hair-raising noise. Karly Hartzman—founder, frontwoman, and primary lyricist—credits Wednesday’s tightened grasp on their own identity to time spent collaborating on previous albums, plus a tour schedule that’s been both rewarding and relentless. “Bleeds is the spiritual successor to Rat Saw God, and I think the quintessential ‘Wednesday Creek Rock’ album,” Hartzman said, articulating satisfaction with the ways her band has sharpened its trademark sound, how they’ve refined the formula that makes them one of the most interesting rock bands of their generation, as evidenced by the album’s singles ‘Elderberry Wine,’ ‘Wound Up Here (By Holdin On),’  ‘Pick Up That Knife,’ ‘Bitter Everyday,’ and ‘Townies,’ released today with a video by Lance Bangs.

Just like Rat Saw God, one of the defining rock & roll records of the 2020s so far, Bleeds came together at Drop of Sun in Asheville and was produced by Alex Farrar, who’s been recording the band since Twin Plagues. Hartzman again brought demos to the studio, where she and her bandmates—Xandy Chelmis (lap steel, pedal steel), Alan Miller (drums), Ethan Baechtold (bass, piano), and Jake “MJ” Lenderman (guitar)—worked as a team to bulk-up the compositions with the exact right amounts of country truth-telling, indie-pop hooks, and noisy sludge. More than ever, the precise proportions were steered by the lyricism—not only its tone or subject matter, but also the actual sound of the words, as well as Hartzman’s masterfully subjective approach to detail selection.

Wednesday – ‘Townies’ (Official Music Video)

“The song Townies is about how a young woman’s sexuality, especially when they are first encountering it at a young age, is often weaponized against them in the gossip cycles of a highschool. I write from experience, both my own and a dear friend of mine, who had rumors spread about them that could deeply affect or potentially define our social standing.

At the end of the song I look back and forgive anyone who contributed to this. Even I, as a victim of the rumor mill, wasn’t immune to sharing little scandals with my friends when I came across them. Cause the end of the day, teenagers have no idea who the fuck they are or how what they do might be hurting someone, all you can do is hope everyone grew up to become decent and empathic adults.

The Townies video was filmed by Lance and his crew in Durham, North Carolina. I told Lance I wanted to incorporate the visuals of southern sorority rushing, which is deeply fascinating to me. We played a surprise Wednesday show to a crowded backyard. No one’s legs got chopped off by the boat engine in the hot tub in the process.”

MONDO FREAKS RELEASE UPLIFTING FUNK SINGLE “PUT YOUR HAND IN MY HAND” AHEAD OF DEBUT ALBUM

Melbourne outfit Mondo Freaks drop one more taster ahead of their anticipated debut self-titled album, which arrives on October 17th on their own Every Star Records. Saving up their most inspiring track for last, “Put Your Hand In My Hand” is a mid-tempo Funk standout from the Melbourne ten piece, with Jade MacRae delivering maybe her most impassioned vocal yet.

Breaking from their live centric visuals, the video for the track is an animated clip inspired by ‘80s fantasy television by Andy Bull, the acclaimed Australian musician who has lately been working as an illustrator and animator has been a fan of Mondo Freaks for some time.

“I love this song, I loved animating this video and I’m glad to be a part of the Mondo Freaks world”, said Andy when asked about working on this clip. “The visual language of ‘80s fantasy television gave me a way to tell a story that looks a little wonky but ultimately is about colour and music. The world that “Put You Hand In My Hand” comes from, it brought to mind this era of animation and tells a story about hope and love overcoming the forces of wanton destruction.”

The album will be launched in their hometown of Melbourne on December 12th at Howler in Brunswick. Special guests are masters of vintage Afro Disco and Psychedelic Boogie, Wrong Way Up and helping turn the night well and truly into a party, Northside DJs will be playing through the night. Mondo Freaks managed to gather a raft of new fans after playing Wonder Mountain Festival in regional Victoria in early September. The sold out festival also featured Ella Thompson, Intrermood, Mudrat, Myles Mac and many more.

Formed by the rhythm section of in demand session bassist Luke Hodgson and drummer Graeme Pogson (GL, The Bamboos) Mondo Freaks feature many of the best vocalists and players from the fertile Melbourne Soul scene. Word is starting to spread globally on the band with airplay, playlist support and acclaim coming from the USA, UK, Italy, France and across Europe.

As with all previous singles, the track was mixed by Grammy winner Michael Brauer, who made his name mixing countless Rn’B classics from the likes of Change, BB&Q Band, Was (Not Was), Gwen Guthrie, Grace, Jones, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Pleasure, Cheryl Lynn, Cerrone, Jones Girls, Kid Creole, Teddy Pendegrass, Morris Day and many more.

Melbourne’s fave three-guitar rock’n’roll power poppers The Prize today release their long-awaited debut album In The Red on Anti Fade Records in Australia and Goner Records in the USA. They have also released the new single from the album “Connie”.

The band will launch In The Red at The Curtin on Friday November 14 with special guests Aardvark and Blue Communications.

The album’s release follows the prior release of album tracks “First Sight” which was released August 2023 ahead of their first European tour (with King Gizzard) and “Had it Made” which was released last October ahead of the band’s second European tour (with The Chats) late 2024 and more recently the album’s first single “From The Night”.

The Prize’s debut album In The Red is available now https://theprizemelbourne.bandcamp.com/album/in-the-red

https://bfan.link/from-the-night-2

The Prize made their debut for Anti Fade in 2022 with the EP Wrong Side of Town which prompted global interest in the band. They began recording the album in 2023 but the international tours caused delays, as did the departure of original bass player Jack Kong in early 2024. New bass player Ethan Stahl (formerly of UK band Chubby and the Gang) came on board a year ago after Jack helped the band finish the tracking process. Initial album sessions took place with Paul Maybury of Rocket Science at his A Secret Location studio, with subsequent tracks recorded with Matt Blach of The Murlocs at Gizz Studios (following The Prize’s European run with King Gizzard late in 2023) and, in January of this year, with Robin Mukerjee of TV Colours.

The band, which features drummer Nadine Muller sharing lead vocals with guitarist Carey Paterson together with guitarists Joseph Imfeld and Austin Haire as well as new bass player Ethan, is known for its powerful three-guitar frontline and melodic twin lead guitar. It combines punk and classic hard rock with power pop and new wave and cites its influences as Thin Lizzy, Cheap Trick, Pretenders, Blondie, Rolling Stones, Faces, Flamin’ Groovies, Tom Petty, Dwight Twilley, Phil Seymour, The Toms, The Nerves and The Motors.

As a premium live act with the tunes to back it up, The Prize have regularly found themselves playing with legendary groups like Sunnyboys, Pavement, The Stems and Guitar Wolf in addition to their pals in King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Murlocs and The Chats. Band members have recently started spreading themselves out into other bands as well, with Nadine and Ethan joining Josh Hardy of The Chats and The Unknowns in Loose Lips, Joe in The States and Austin in The Judges and his own solo venture, Ozzie Hair.

BELLA MACKENZIE RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE  ‘GREW UP COUNTRY’ feat. HOMEGROWN TRIO

Hailing from the small coal mining town of Moranbah, Australian Country Artist on the rise BELLA MACKENZIE, fell in love with country music listening to the likes of Kasey Chambers and Lee Kernaghan who seemed to be writing about her life in rural Queensland.

It’s only fitting that today Bella Mackenzie returns with her new single ‘GREW UP COUNTRY’ featuring fellow North Queensland siblings HOMEGROWN TRIO.

‘Grew Up Country’ is a heartfelt celebration of small-town roots, resilience, and the unshakable pride of rural life. Bella Mackenzie’s warm, emotive vocals lead the story, bringing an authentic and deeply personal perspective, while Australian Country group, Homegrown Trio, add rich harmonies and a layered instrumental depth that lifts the track into a full-band anthem.

The official video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgdlV80JYFM, released alongside the new single, features Bella Mackenzie performing with Katelyn, Liam, and Kasey O’Donoghue of Homegrown Trio. Interwoven throughout are childhood archival clips of Bella and the Trio, bringing to life what it means to grow up in the country. The childhood footage even captures Liam and Bella on the same stage at a country music festival talent quest, a nod to where their journeys first crossed.

Telling her story through song from the age of twelve, Bella Mackenzie spent her teens earning her live country music stripes performing at her father’s pub in Moranbah, while Homegrown Trio’s roots can be traced back to their upbringing on a cattle farm and their parents’ love for country music.

Building on their shared upbringing and long friendship Bella and Homegrown Trio have created a sound that’s both nostalgic and uplifting – a love letter to the country upbringing that shaped them all.

Bella shares, “Writing this song brought back so many nostalgic memories from my childhood, growing up in the country. It fills me with immense pride & gratitude to be able to put that experience into a song for others to relate to & reminisce on their own experiences growing up in the country.”

Homegrown Trio share, “‘Grew Up Country’ is about the roots that shape you, and working with Bella, who shares that same love for the lifestyle, brought a real authenticity to the track. It feels like a piece of home wrapped up in a song. We all grew up with that country lifestyle – singing in the living room, riding horses on the weekends, and blasting our favourite country records while cruising around in Mum and Dad’s old car. So working with Bella on Grew Up Country just felt natural, like singing with family.”

Next year, Bella Mackenzie will be performing at CMC Rocks Festival 2026 with more lives shows soon to be announced.

The Tullamarines embrace chaos and catharsis on Safety Blanket EP with explosive focus track ‘Gimme Luv’

Adelaide’s beloved overthinkers The Tullamarines are back with their most honest and exhilarating body of work yet, the Safety Blanket EP, alongside its electrifying focus track Gimme Luv. The record sees the band lean deeper than ever into vulnerability, chaos, and catharsis, capturing the fragility, pressure, and unexpected beauty of finding your way through your 20s.

“This EP came together during a time when everything felt like it was shifting both internally and externally. Forgive the pop punk cliché but growing up is hard. From losing old friends, self worth, affording the rent and just trying to work out where the hell you’re going. These songs have been our safety blanket. Something we wrapped ourselves in when life felt overwhelming, uncertain, or just plain confusing. We recorded this EP with Izaac Wilson at the beginning of 2025 and it was a real process of letting go. It’s the most honest we’ve ever been and while it was terrifying in the moment, it feels so freeing to finally share these thoughts and feelings that have been swelling around in our heads with everyone. We really hope this EP can be there for others the way it has been for us. Whether that be a moment of clarity, an opportunity to let go and rock out in your bedroom, or just a feeling that you’re not the only one going through it,” the band shares.

The EP’s focus track Gimme Luv finds The Tullamarines at their most daring sonically, bending their signature indie-pop foundations into near-electronic territory without losing their unshakable sense of heart.

“‘This song is all about the transaction of energy between two people, without going too into detail, it’s a love song through and through. We really wanted to capture this indie-rock thing and then push it into an almost-electronic territory, which was really fun for us to do in the studio with Izaac. It’s also one of our favourite songs to play live at the moment, particularly because of how out-of-hand it gets towards the end,’” the band explains.

Formed in the heart of Adelaide’s indie scene, The Tullamarines are the product of four kindred spirits, Josh, Angus, Benny, and Lucinda, who first connected on the local gig circuit and quickly bonded over a shared love of songwriting and self-deprecating humour. Their unique blend of fizzy indie pop and emotional honesty has seen them build a passionate national following and a reputation for live shows that feel like a group therapy session and dance party rolled into one.

The Tullamarines’ rise has been fuelled by full rotation support on triple j for singles Lying, Running On Empty and OMG, with all three landing in the station’s top 10 most played tracks. Running On Empty climbed all the way to #1 most played, while Lying received a First Play premiere on The Drive in June 2025 and OMG was premiered on Home and Hosed in October 2024. Their high-energy releases have also earned playlisting across Spotify’s Hits Different, Fresh Finds AU & NZ, Indie Arrivals, Local Noise and New Music Friday, alongside Apple Music’s New Music Daily and New in Indie, helping the band grow a fiercely loyal fanbase across streaming platforms.

On the live front, The Tullamarines have become one of the most exciting young acts in the country, racking up appearances at Laneway, SXSW Sydney, BIGSOUND, Wander Festival, Rolling Sets, Woodford, Beyond The Valley and Great Escape, with more major festivals to come later in 2025. They have also become a sought-after touring band, sharing stages nationally with The Preatures, Old Mervs, Ball Park Music, Dice, Polish Club, The Vaccines, Everything Everything, Teenage Joans, The Vanns, Rum Jungle, The Buoys, Stumps, Dear Seattle, TOWNS and Alex Lahey. Beyond the live stage, the band’s creativity continues to open doors, with Idiot confirmed for a sync placement in EA’s Skate 4 and their career momentum boosted by a recent signing with Skully Kaplan of Roam (formerly ATC, known for Royal Otis, Two Door Cinema Club and Old Mervs).

With a nomination for Best Pop Act at the SA Music Awards, a series of international festival debuts on the horizon, and the announcement of their very own headline Safety Blanket EP Tour kicking off in October 2025, The Tullamarines are proving that sometimes the most beautiful chaos comes from overthinking everything and then turning it into music that makes people feel less alone.

DAMAGE hits back at modern pressures with new album ‘I Hate My Job’

Melbourne-based rock outfit DAMAGE is set to release their brand-new album, ‘I Hate My Job’, out now on Wild At Heart Records. The album delivers straight-up, no-frills hard rock and punk with a message. Honest, direct, and rooted in lived experience.

Listen and download the album here: Spotify

Each track offers its own perspective, touching on everything from mental health, addiction and recovery, to frustrations with work, reflections on love, and even a song inspired by frontman Frank’s hobby: remote control cars.

There’s also a song about songwriting itself, a nod to Frank’s re-emergence as a performer and musician later in life. Frank first picked up a guitar decades ago and played in bands until 1993, when he stepped away from music for over 25 years. It wasn’t until a friend invited him to a local blues night that the spark returned, inspired by what he had seen on stage that night. Soon after, he joined the Wild At Heart songwriting community, where he reconnected with his passion.

As a person with lived experience of mental illness and someone who lives alcohol and drug-free after overcoming personal challenges, Frank uses songwriting as away to process life’s challenges and to share stories that others might relate to. His lyrics are plain-spoken, thoughtful, and unfiltered.

‘I Hate My Job’ was recorded at Sean Conran’s home studio in Northcote (Obscura Hail), produced by Sean and mixed/mastered by Thomas ‘Soup’ Campbell. The result is a set of songs that reflect Frank’s years of experience, musical influences, and his clear-eyed view of the world.

DAMAGE is – Frank Linehan (vocals), Andrew Shakespeare (guitar).

Additional instrumentation provided by Wild At Heart musicians.

Meanjin/Brisbane queer indie-rock group, Platonic Sex, share debut album Face to the Flywire; announce headline Australia tour dates

Stilted houses, summer breeze, peach and lilac sunsets… Face to the Flywire – the first studio LP by Platonic Sex – is the product of a coming-of-age that unfolds within the natural poetry of Queensland. The album is released today, independently, alongside a string of national tour dates.

Until now, at least – Bridget “Brando” Brandolini (they/them), Ryan Hammermeister (he/they) and Jane Millroy (she/her) – have remained in the city that grew them, delaying the move ‘away’ that sometimes feels inevitable, as their peers leave for other sharehouses, in colder places with more artists and venues and gigs. STREAM + SHARE

Developing this record, the band members – who have since welcomed Jess Cameron (she/her) on bass – continued to graft a new sound from their individual music backgrounds (in jazz, folk and other touring acts) sun-bleached by the spirit of the community they live in: languorous, warm, isolated, intimate.

“These songs feel nostalgic, like the Christmas holidays,” says Millroy. “Sitting on the back deck and
listening to cicadas.”

In the main, the album was recorded at Marrickville’s Golden Retriever Studios with Antonia Gauci, then finished at home with Issac Rogers at The Tunnel and Sam Cromack at Prawn Studios. But the songs were germinated on a weeklong stay at Minjerribah/Stradbroke Island, back in 2022. Hammermeister remembers “working on a guitar part with Brando and shedding a tear at the feeling of closeness we had in the space… the cheap plunger coffee smell, sandy footprints outside, cold beach wind, salty air.”

That guitar part would find its way into ‘Over It’. According to Brandolini, its lyrics chart the space of “temporal pain that you know will liberate you later, bring relief; coming to terms with letting others down to bring yourself peace.” Like the gilded map printed on the endpages of a well-worn hardback, the track opens a portal into an imagined world, where iPhone samples meld into burbling tributaries of reverb and ripple.

“I am learning over and over again that the only way to get through life is to be accepting, and to keep moving forward,” says Brandolini. “I don’t feel pessimistic in believing that it doesn’t get easier – resilience is the hero of my values.”

After a long held place in the group’s live set, ‘Shark Teeth’ is set in snarling stereo, with a nod to Turnstile in the breakdown. It asks: when you’re proud of deep, long-term friendships, how do you honor your own values in the face of their flaws? ‘Step Back’ a defense of not acting like the bigger man in the break-up, has the crunch and spike of a Momma bridge; meanwhile ‘Fever Dream’ is blushing and sweet, grafted from its upright-piano intro.

Premiered on triple j’s Home and Hosed program, focus track ‘Sun Goes Down’ closes out the record. Its chorus serves as a mantra of gratitude for ephemeral joy and closeness, a reminder to be mindful, brave, diligent in love of all shapes: “Can we stay just a little longer? / Sun goes down, can we hold each other?”.

It gives way to what Hammermeister calls a “full Taylor Hawkins bridge”, then fades and settles to peaceful gurgle. Hammermeister says, “I want to make music that’s company for people when they’re alone, or with the person they feel most vulnerable with – music they can create memories to.”

After headlining the annual Sounds Like Community Radio at BIGSOUND, Platonic Sex will embark on their first national tour, including interstate headlines in Sydney and Melbourne, and an appearance at Newcastle’s The Lass. They’ll also play at 4ZZZ’s 50th Birthday Market Day, alongside The Saints and Tropical Fuck Storm. In October, they’ll join critically acclaimed jasmine.4.t at Black Bear Lodge, as part of her first trip to Australia, before celebrating their hometown headline at Crowbar.

MOUSEATOUILLE Share new album DJ Set

Melbourne nine-piece collective Mouseatouille return with their third album, DJ Set, available now via Dot Dash Recordings / Remote Control Records. This October, the band will take the new record on the road, bringing their intricate live show to headline stages in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney. Tickets are on sale now at linktr.ee/mouseatouille. Announced in July, Mouseatouille have shared singles ‘Harry and the Jets’ and ‘Dogshow’, which featured a music video created on Discord with friends Will and Charlie of Post Office Winter, from Chicago’s Hallogallo collective.

Mouseatouille, the nine-member Melbourne-based band, has always sought comfort in numbers. There is a reassurance in the orchestra, the knowledge that a friend has your back, that someone is always playing along with you. Initially a fuzzed-out, lo-fi cassette recording, high school project of singer / songwriter Harry Green and drummer Spencer Noonan, Mouseatouille quickly grew in size to satiate their appetite for intricate arrangements and dense instrumentation. The band expanded to include anyone who could be convinced to pick up an instrument and play.

Their 2019 double album Out of the Hospital and Into the Morgue featured more than 25 performers, musicians and non-musicians alike, playing everything from woodwind, brass and strings to banjo, tubular bells and hand claps. Now a nine piece, the band oscillates between considered and delicate indie folk and raucous noise rock that hurtles towards the audience like an avalanche.

As a live act they have opened for Australian artists such as Floodlights, RVG and Katie Dey, and played venues ranging from small techno clubs to Melbourne’s majestic Forum.  Mouseatouille’s following extends outside of Australia. In 2022 they collaborated on a single with Post Office Winter (from Chicago’s Hallogallo collective). In 2024 they supported Chicago based fifth wave emo legends Your Arms Are My Cocoon at their sold out shows in Sydney and Melbourne. They were also personally selected by Black Country, New Road to support them on the full run of their Australian, playing sold out shows at some of the country’s best venues.

Mouseatouille’s new album DJ Set works to retain this high school spirit. Recorded haphazardly, using whatever equipment was available and employing a “learn-as-you-go” approach to composition and arrangement. Through endless rehearsals and recording sessions in a garage, a sharehouse kitchen and a parent’s lounge room, Mouseatouille synthesises the care and precision of orchestral arrangement with the spontaneity and carelessness of getting together with your friends to make music simply because it’s fun.

A pop sensibility runs through all of these modest recordings; in fact, they are as much cautious studies in pop music as they are wide-eyed attempts at being an orchestra. The songs often build to grand crescendos or collapse under their own weight and tumble into dissonance. This oscillation between meticulously arranged pop and screeching cacophony pervades DJ Set. There is also the joyous tension of a band precariously reaching beyond its limits and the genuine elation when they grasp what they have been striving for; and yes – the occasional wry smile when it remains just beyond their reach.

NEWTON FAULKNER ANNOUNCES 8TH STUDIO ALBUM ‘OCTOPUS’ WITH COOKING VINYL RECORDS 27TH MARCH  2026

Releases First Single  ‘Hunting Season’ Up With Lissie & Los Bitchos Pre-Order OCTOPUS Now

Stream ‘Hunting Season’, Feat. Lissie & Los Bitchos HERE

Beloved UK singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner is back with his first taste of new music in five years, today releasing ‘Hunting Season (feat. Lissie & Los Bitchos)’, the lead single from his forthcoming album OCTOPUS, set for release on 27 March 2026 via Cooking Vinyl Records.

Written and recorded in Faulkner’s East London home studio, Hunting Season is a bold and joyful collaboration that brings together three creative powerhouses: Newton himself, US indie-folk favourite Lissie, and psych-surf innovators Los Bitchos.

The song first took shape as a co-write with Dutch producer and songwriter Tessa Rose Jackson, before Newton reimagined it with the help of Los Bitchos drummer and old bandmate Nic Crawshaw. A chance studio session with guitarist Serra Petale soon pushed the track into thrilling new territory.

“Serra came to my studio mid-morning, and by mid-afternoon this version was up and running,” Newton says. “As soon as she started playing, I knew I wanted her to replace all of my guitars. She straight-up smashed it.”

Adding another layer is the unmistakable voice of Lissie, a longtime friend and collaborator. “We’ve done loads of gigs and radio stuff together, and I’ve always been a huge fan of her voice,” Faulkner says. “I just had to hope she’d say yes. Which she did — and then smashed it out of the park.”

The release marks the beginning of a fresh new chapter for Newton, who last year cut off his iconic ginger dreadlocks live on stage at London’s Islington Assembly Hall to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust and symbolically stepping into a new era of creativity both visually and musically.

Thenew album ‘OCTOPUS , set for release on March 27, represents the longest gap between albums in Faulkner’s career, providing him time to explore new creative directions. Working from his home studio in East London, Faulkner approached songwriting from fresh perspectives, incorporating diverse sonic elements throughout the album.

Although only just turning 40, Faulkner’s impressive career spans nearly two decades, beginning with his breakthrough debut album “Hand Built by Robots” (2007), which reached #1 in the UK charts and achieved double-platinum status. His success continued with “Rebuilt by Humans” (2009) peaking at #3 and earning Gold certification, followed by his second UK #1 album “Write It on Your Skin” (2012). His subsequent releases include “Studio Zoo” (2013), “Human Love” (2015), “Hit the Ground Running” (2017), and “Interference (Of Light)” (2021), which was released during the challenging conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Faulkner’s ready to share that new music and energy with fans around the world and is especially excited to bring it back to Australia.

SILVER WING Presents  FOREVER (SINGLE)

Silver Wing (Michael Hubbard) is a musician and producer from Melbourne, Australia who creates rich, textural songs and soundscapes with a thoroughly timeless quality.

September 2025 sees Silver Wing release his new single FOREVER as he sets work on a forthcoming record.

FOREVER is yet another nudge of the sonic boundary, incorporating elements of dusty 70’s disco & early Detroit house.  It’s also the Silver Wing’s first track to incorporate vocals, having been a purely instrumental project up until this point.

“As soon as I chanced upon those church choir samples that bring in the song, I knew I’d uncovered something truly special . The only challenge was to not overcrowd the production, allowing space for the emotion and power of the singing to really shine through.”

In 2024 Siver Wing released his first Ep, simply titled VOL. 1.  Recorded quickly and intuitively, with a focus on feel and excitement. Later that year he followed up VOL.1 with another 4-song release, VOL. 2 which pushed the sound of the project in a tighter,  more focused production style.  This caught the attention of radio DJs across the country

FOREVER out Sept 19th 2025, is an ode to commitment and a love everlasting – an exciting gospel infused, dance floor gem, and his first release with the Issamin Records label.

For fans of Bonobo, The Avalanches, Caribou, Rival Consoles, Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

DREAMKILLERS Brisbane Legends Drop Surprise Track, In the Pie

New Physical Only Album, Proiphys Cunninghamii, Out Jan 23, 2026

Brisbane’s long running, uncompromising metal-punk juggernaut Dreamkillers recently returned with their first music in half a decade by way of the scathing, Close Down The Circus.

Today they release, In The Pie, an equally viscous attack on the powers that seek to control us.

On the songs message, the band comment that  “The insane clowns of leadership have dropped their cards. We can see that cloning, a controversial pandemic and a fake space race has forced the powers that be to  temporarily drop their mask. We saw that they don’t care about us, we’re just a means to an end.

In a hundred years we’ve destroyed everything we built for ourselves. Greed has taken over and money is God now. Pull ya family and loved ones closer to your bosom and hang on for dear life.
White knuckled and screaming for common sense .
It’s now obvious we’re on our own.”

A relentless force in the underground scene, Dreamkillers are known for their raw intensity, genre-defying sound, and fiercely DIY ethos.  Fusing Thrash, English punk and Melodic Metal into a sonic assault that is both unrelenting and emotionally charged, while still maintaining a surprising sing-along quality, Dreamkillers continue to evolve without compromise

With a career spanning decades and a legacy that has inspired countless acts, their reputation as an electrifying live band has earned them spots alongside national and international heavyweights, all while staying true to their roots, authentic, loud and powerful.

Proiphys Cunninghamii is a no-holds-barred album that blends fire, fury and defiance in equal measure. Named after a rare native plant found only in Brisbane, commonly known as the Brisbane lily, the title reflects the band’s roots and resilience — thriving in harsh conditions, unapologetically local, and impossible to ignore.

This is not just a band releasing another record. It is a statement. A resurgence.

A call to arms for anyone who has ever felt silenced, crushed or cast aside.

Dreamkillers are here, stronger and louder than ever.

BETH AND BLUE  WEAVE SONIC MAGIC WITH DEBUT ALBUM TAKE IT ALL
OUT FRIDAY OCTOBER 31 VIA IMPRESSED RECORDINGS
SHARE SINGLE & VIDEO ‘MYSTERY OF CHAINS’

LISTEN HERE | WATCH VIDEO HERE

Beth and Blue – the collaborative lovechild of Imogen Grist (Babitha) and Marcus Index (Spookyland/Marcus Index) – today announce their debut album Take It All, set for release on Friday, October 31 via Impressed Recordings.

Marking the occasion, the duo have unveiled their lead single ‘Mystery of Chains’, a soaring tribute to the heightened emotional world of 80s power ballads.

LISTEN TO SINGLE HERE

“We wanted to tap into that heightened emotional world where love is something you’re not just drawn into, but willingly shackled by,” the duo explains. “There’s a raw, exaggerated sincerity in those songs that feels almost out of step with modern detachment – and that’s exactly what drew us in. The simplicity, the drama, the dilemmas blown up to mythic scale – it’s all a bit of a caricature, and maybe all the more beautiful for it.”

This sense of high-stakes intimacy runs through the album’s standout tracks, with ‘Mystery of Chains’ embodying the slow-dance shimmer of 80s romantic melodrama. The song explores the contradiction of surrender as freedom, “It’s unhealthy passion, maybe. But also, kind of beautiful,” says Imogen.

The accompanying video pays direct homage to one of Imogen’s favourite duets of all time: “Candy” by Iggy Pop and Kate Pierson of The B-52s. “It encapsulates those big, universal emotions of longing, regret and hope – themes we’ve tried to navigate throughout the album,” Imogen explains.

WATCH VIDEO HERE

Drawing inspiration from the golden age of 80s music videos – Kim Carnes, Roxette, Bonnie Tyler, Bruce Springsteen – the clip embraces theatricality with smoke machines, saxophone solos, and of course, chains. Shot on 16mm film by Tas Wilson using a vintage Bolex camera, the DIY production was built by friends from salvaged materials: fencing from Kennards, tyres and plastic sheeting from Reverse Garbage. “Film forces you to commit to each moment,” Imogen says. “After a full day’s shoot, we came away with just eleven minutes of footage. That level of intentionality gives the whole thing a magic you can’t fake.”

Written on a remote farm in New South Wales, Take It All is equal parts farmhouse romanticism and high-concept melodrama. Across its tracks, Beth and Blue inhabit older versions of themselves, imagined characters, and mythic archetypes, making each song feel like a miniature play complete with tension, pathos, and release.

In a world that often prizes irony and detachment, Take It All stands out as an act of artistic sincerity – bold, beautiful, and unafraid of feeling too much. The record is both a culmination of Beth and Blue’s shared life and a manifesto for a new kind of romantic art pop: sincerity as rebellion, romance as art, and songwriting as deep, shared devotion.

Born out of a chance encounter on a dating app in 2021, Beth and Blue began not as an ambitious project but as an innocent impulse to sing duets. What started as swapping playlists and harmonies quickly turned into a three-year creative partnership and life together, exploring the love song as a form of meditation. The pair’s shared passion for 60s country, Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons, and the aching theatricality of ABBA fused into a distinct artistic voice that neither could have uncovered alone.

Beth and Blue’s take on the love song is sweeping and unflinching. Their music explores desire, euphoria, fragility and despair with equal parts melodrama and surrealism. Echoes of New Wave and dream pop swirl beneath their reverb-drenched harmonies, but it’s their hymnal quality – defiantly ethereal yet unplaceable – that makes their sound unmistakable.

After packed showcases at Sydney’s SXSW and The Great Escape, Beth and Blue will join The Veils as special guests in Sydney and Melbourne this November, bringing their singular blend of tenderness and grandeur to the stage.

Tasmanian post-punks TEENS release sophomore album ‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’

TEENS, Lutruwita/Tasmania’s favourite noisy post-punks, have emerged triumphant with their anticipated second album, ‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’, out today on No Sleep Records / Psychedelic Salad Records.

While their first album may have taken the best part of a decade to manifest, TEENS haven’t sat still since. The year following the release of their internationally acclaimed debut ‘TEENS’ (July 2024, No Sleep Records) has been filled with relentless gigging, including prized support slots for artists such as DZ Deathrays, Crywank (UK), Hard-Ons and a sold out Dark Mofo appearance with The Peep Tempel, all while putting the final touches on their triumphant second full-length release ‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’.

First album ‘TEENS’ (2024) was a document of resilience and tenacity, forged in the face of obstacle, injury, distance and community collapse, and featuring echoes of TEENS incarnations of the past. On ‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’, the band exist in almost confronting stability, inhabiting their final form, the trio of Shawn Arnold (vocals/guitar/synth/percussion), Alex Daven (drums/percussion) and Jono Tate (vocals/bass/organ).

‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’ opens with the album’s two singles – the ominous, disdainful ‘Like An Animal’, and the writhing, bewildered ‘Shallow Grave’ – and moves through moments of delirium, confusion, alienation, despair and deep introspection. Questioning a reality that seems as distorted as their guitars, TEENS interrogate their existence, peeling away layers of flesh and mind, and drilling intensely into specific moments in a quest for understanding.

TEENS’ existential uncertainty is painted vividly and viscerally on ‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’. The album showcases a band that is adept at capturing their volatile ruminations in a way that masterfully blends grit, vulnerability, intricacy and rawness. As always, TEENS may appear chaotic on the outside, but holding everything together is an expertly applied command of tension and energy.

Returning to the idyllic Studio Sola Paradiso, for ‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’, TEENS teamed up once again with engineer Joss Thomas – he and Arnold working together to record the album, before handing it over to the iconic Mikey Young for mixing and mastering.

‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’ is available digitally and on 12” limited edition Plastic Flesh vinyl from TEENS’ Bandcamp and the Psychedelic Salad Records webstore in Australia. Overseas the record is available in Europe through Psychedelic Salad Records’ European outlet, in the UK via Dirty Filthy Records, and in the USA via Echodelick Records.

Continuing TEENS’ run of striking artistic partnerships, Serbian-based artist Davor Gromilović’s 2021 work ‘Murder In Front Of The Hotdog Eater’ makes a perfect companion to ‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’’s hedonistic bewilderment. Meanwhile, the band have commissioned beloved nipaluna/Hobart creator Molly Turner for a custom hoodie design – pre-orders for the ‘Devil’ print wardrobe staple are open now.

With a live show that is equal parts disorienting and rejuvenating, TEENS have amassed a rabid following across their home state. The band will satiate local cravings at their ‘NEGATIVE ENERGY’ album launch party at Hobart’s The Grand Poobah on Friday, October 10th, joined by Crab, Bextexta, Chamberwoman, Fun Size Duncans and Raspberry Terrapin – TICKETS.

FELICITY URQUHART & JOSH CUNNINGHAM TURN UP THE HEAT WITH FEVERISH AND FUN NEW SINGLE ‘I WANT YOU’

OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO TO FOLLOW 26 SEPTEMBER – WATCH TEASER HERE

Three-time Golden Guitar winning duo Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham return with their latest single, ‘I Want You’ – a three-minute distillation of the euphoria and danger of skating on the edge of control with a pounding head and a pulsing chest.

“When desire consumes you so completely that it burns through every part of you with aching intensity, you know you’ve got it bad.” says Felicity.

Gritty and unapologetic, the track captures the visceral intensity of desire in the form of a catchy country anthem. Marrying vintage tones with a bluesy, rock n’ roll swagger, it echoes the musical chemistry of artists like Buddy & Julie Miller and Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell, paired with the drive of The Rolling Stones’ take on Country.

Continuing with their award-winning team of musicians, Matt Fell joins the duo on bass and to co-produce, and Josh Schuberth returns on drums and to master the track. For Felicity and Josh, the creative process was as organic and instinctive as the song itself. “Real musicians playing real music written by real people,” Josh reflects.

If the song is a smouldering fire, the music video is sure to fan the flames. Filmed at the duo’s own home by longtime friend and collaborator Duncan Toombs (The Filmery), the clip spins everyday objects into playful, surreal magic. Bread crawls toward a toaster, and eggs flirt with a mixer as ordinary items are brought to life to reflect the magnetic force of attraction. “No eggs were harmed in the making of this video,” laughs Felicity.

The ‘I Want You’ official music video is set to premiere on 26 September (10am AEST) on YouTube, but in the leadup, fans can step behind the scenes in a special two-part series:

·         Part 1 (22 Sept): On set with Duncan Toombs as objects spring to life

·         Part 2 (24 Sept): A look at the camera tricks and fun behind the scenes

With a 21-date Australian Spring Tour already underway, Felicity & Josh have begun playing ‘I Want You’ live for concertgoers across Eastern Australia. “We love being back on the road sharing new songs and stories with our fans. The single ‘I Want You’ is an instant favourite and with more dates ahead we’re loving where we’re at right now,” says Felicity.

Audiences and critics alike continue to be captivated by their magnetic live performances. “Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham are in the joy-bringing game: to each other, and to audiences,” wrote Sunburnt Country after seeing the duo in perform in Sydney.

Throughout their acclaimed catalogue, Felicity & Josh’s songwriting has remained honest and poetic, their bond undeniable. With ‘I Want You’ they once again deliver a track that is raw, real, and impossible to ignore. And now, ‘they want you’ to press play.

ACCLAIMED SINGER-SONGWRITER JENNA NICHOLLS SHARES NEW SINGLE “TIE A STRING” –LISTEN. NEW ALBUM THE COMMUTER  ARRIVES OCTOBER 10 VIA ROYAL POTATO FAMILY –PRESAVE

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Jenna Nicholls shares the newest single from her upcoming fourth studio album, “Tie A String,” available everywhere now. Produced by 3x GRAMMY® Award-winner Larry Campbell (Levon Helm, Bob Dylan), the track heralds the Saugerties, NY-based songstress’s upcoming album, The Commuter, arriving via Royal Potato Family on Friday, October 10. Pre-orders/pre-saves are available now. Of the new song, she shares:

“One day I was searching for gray hair in the mirror and I asked my husband to help me get the ones in the back, thinking he would say “I don’t see any” and walk away. He didn’t and proceeded to pull quite a bit of my hair. I got a little irritated and he said “Honey you’re as pretty as the day I met you.” That inspired this song…”

LISTEN TO “TIE A STRING”

PRE-ORDER/PRE-SAVE THE COMMUTER

Hailed for her unique ability to transport listeners to a different place and time with her distinctively inspired acoustic songcraft, Nicholls will herald The Commuter with a wide-ranging live schedule that includes headline shows, festival appearances, dates alongside Hot Club of Cowtown, Peter Mulvey, and Brian Dunne (of Fantastic Cat), and more. For complete details and ticket information, please visit jennanicholls.com.

Jenna Nicholls weaves a spell with her utterly individual tapestry of sound, strumming her ukulele with the spirit of New Orleans or crooning a cowboy’s tale with the soul of the West. Her melodies, like vintage vinyl spun anew, carry the weight of memory and promise of tomorrow. Hailing from a small town near Pittsburgh, PA, Nicholls gravitated to the creative hotbed of NYC’s Lower East Side, where she honed her abilities as a songwriter and performer while forging lasting friendships with other like-minded artists and musicians. Three albums on her own dime revealed a restless muse and lush, nostalgic style encompassing classic sounds spanning anything from Singin’ in the Rain to Bessie Smith. Along the way, Nicholls won over audiences on the storied stages of such vaunted venues as NYC’s Beacon Theatre and Carnegie Hall while also performing alongside fellow artists like Ingrid Michaelson, Glen Hansard, Lucius, and Joan as Policewoman.

The title of Nicholls’ new album, The Commuter, is fitting in every sense – the story of a journey both musical and personal. “The songs curated here represent a time of transition,” she says, “from residing in NYC to a new home in upstate NY, from life in a corporate world to finding my voice in a creative one.” Songs like “Tie A String,” “All Those Days You Won’t Remember,” and the poignant title track signal a sense of departure as well as new beginnings, boasting a richer sound with inventive, fleshed-out arrangements and an astoundingly wide-ranging collection of original songs. Still, The Commuter makes it perfectly plain that Jenna Nicholls remains steadfast in her goals, invoking breathtaking emotion and musical artistry by simply staying true to her instincts.

SEIMS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM ‘V’

Australian experimental rock project SEIMS will release ‘V’ this October, a new full-length album featuring their signature blend of complex rhythm, memorable melodicism and sonic exploration.

The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Simeon Bartholomew, SEIMS has evolved into an explorational and formidable band over the course ofseveral records, including their most recent release ‘FOUR’ which saw them pick up a sizeable underground audience and launched them on tours around the world, including performances at ArcTanGent (UK),Dunk! Festival (Belgium) and supports for And So I Watch You FromAfar (Northern Ireland), sleepmakeswaves (Australia) & DeltaSleep (UK).

The new record ‘V’ expands on themes explored on ‘FOUR’ with exquisitely crafted arrangements of tracks ranging from complex odd-meter timing to standard rhythmic feels.

“Preoccupations” picks up where “Showdown Without A Victim” left off, evoking 65daysofstatic’s ‘Wild Light’ era mixed with Stranger Things.

“Chaos Within A Construct” continues a similar vein, infused with the relentless energy of contemporaries like And So I Watch You From Afar, but blended with the clean tones and beguiling precision of a mid-west emo math rock band (or Delta Sleep, if you’re more that way inclined).

But then you have tracks like the Rush-meets-Oasis-with-a-hint-of-Moby melodicpop-prog of “Forever The Optimist” which maintains SEIMS unique ability to straddle parallel universes. It’s the perfection of the experimental side that is most appealing with SEIMS. These are sonic explorations, but conducted with compositional mastery by monster players and performers.

The album was written & produced by Simeon Bartholomew himself, engineered by Tim Carr (We Lost The Sea), mixed by Alex Wilson(sleepmakeswaves) & mastered by Jeff Lipton and Maria Rice at Peerless Mastering, Boston. As well as Simeon performing bass, guitars, synths, piano & vocals himself, it also features blistering performances from Plini drummer Chris Allison, Sam Sheumack (Fangz) on slide guitar, Mark Owen (We Lost The Sea) on guitar, Nataliya Lukich on violins, Monique Turner on violas, Tangents/FourPlay member Peter Hollo on cellos, Tom Botting(Scoredatura) on double basses, Paul Murchison on trumpet &flugelhorn & Luke Bartley on tuba and sousaphone.

For the release of ‘V’ SEIMS have again partnered with Australian label Bird’s Robe and European vinyl label Dunk Records.

PRE-ORDER& LISTEN TO ‘FLOWING UPSTREAM’ HERE:

WATCH‘ELEGANCE OVER CONFIDENCE’ (from ‘FOUR’)

Simeon says: The only true thing I care about in the world is growth. If we’re not trying, we may as well not be trying at all. SEIMS has always had this at the core – try and do something I can’t. Play drums. Play piano. Mix an album. Sing lead vocals. Arrange an entire orchestra. Cross-pollinate as many genres as possible. Write a concept album. Play something in 14/8 but make it groove as if it were 4/4. Try tobe a better musician. Try to be a better composer. Try to creatively push myself, and my skill set, with every release. Try to make the uncomfortable, comfortable.

And now being a father to a gorgeous, independent, witty joker – “trying” has so many new meanings. It’s about being able to be on the same plane as someone who has literally only experienced this planet for a mere four years. It’s also about dealing with your own inner demons in a mature manner – trying to role model not just who you are, but helping your child see who they could be.

Flowing Upstream is exactly this. Getting thrown into the deepend of the worst, and trying to embrace it – ending up somewhere new. Abandonment is Expected is all about dealing with the unintentional abandonment of thought from a child – constantly having the stream of consciousness change right before your eyes – and trying to make sense of the why. My Memories Retain Nothing is all about trying to undo the faults of our parents and grandparents. And Forever the Optimist – well, it’s all in the name, isn’t it?

Director of Bird’s Robe Records Mike Solo says: We’ve been sitting on this for a long time and here it is: the brand new SEIMS album ‘V.’

As always, it’s a stupendous effort from Simeon and his legendary team. I’m still a major fan of the last record ‘FOUR’ and this one takes it up a notch. One louder, if you will. Please check it out and feel the spirit of post-math-experimental-rock take you on a journey.

Initially conceived as a one-man studio project in 2012, the band has expanded into a ferocious live act with some of Sydney’s most talented musicians. SEIMS has shared stages with a diverse array of acts including Tortoise, Regurgitator, We Lost The Sea & Jean Jean. They performed at back to back Progfest events in 2018 & 2019 and have toured Japan twice, featuring at Tokyo’s iconic math-rock festival Bahamasfest.

In 2025 they will perform at the forthcoming Bird’s Robe 15th birthday events in December, featuring COG, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead & many more.

Appearing live at:

Thursday 11 December – The Triffid, Brisbane w/…And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead

Friday 12 December – Max Watts, Melbourne w/COG & …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead

Sunday 14 December – Metro Theatre, Sydney w/COG & …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead

Black Stone Cherry Set To Release Brand-New EP, ‘Celebrate’. Out on 6 March via Mascot Records.

Check out the video for the new track ‘Neon Eyes’.

Kentucky’s finest, Black Stone Cherry, will release their brand-new EP, ‘Celebrate’, which will be digitally available on 6 March 2026 via Mascot Records. They explode back into action with the video for their new track, ‘Neon Eyes.

Black Stone Cherry are a band in the truest sense of the term. Hard rockers of enormous heart. Four accomplished songwriters with rock, metal, roots, blues, soul and hip hop in their blood. Old friends with an instinctive, compassionate sense for what each other is feeling.

On ‘Celebrate’ – produced by the band and recorded at High Street Studios in Bowling Green, Kentucky – they embody all this at the height of their powers. There’s happiness and heartache. Muscular hooks and raw soul. The life experiences of four men approaching forty (two of them parents), in one emotive, unpolished diamond of a record. Six commanding, stage-ready original tracks and an inspired cover of Simple Minds’ ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ featuring Tyler Connolly (Theory Of A Deadman).

New track ‘Neon Eyes’ was a soundcheck riff that exploded into a thumping, hard rock party-starter, and the video follows them on a typical day in the life of a band on the road, as they arrive at their stunning headline performance at the 2025 Maid of Stone Festival in the UK.

You get a glimpse of the band behind the scenes, how they prepare for a show, them mingling with the crowd, fans rejoicing throughout the day, and all the way up to a typically high voltage performance showing what an undeniable force they are – plus some magical and unforgettable memories made during the day – watch the video to the end…

Talking about the song, the band say, “For Neon Eyes we had the riff recorded on an iPhone and immediately wrote a song around it when we first started writing for this EP. We knew we wanted the main riff to also be the chorus so once we landed on the title, everything fell into place. A classic BSC banger.”

Black Stone Cherry are masters of taking a somber subject and flipping it on its head, creating a punchy, empowering rock song. “Any piece of art is a snapshot of that artist’s life,” singer/guitarist Chris Robertson reasons. “I look at these songs as a culmination of everything we’ve lived since Screamin’ At The Sky.”

“None of us are precious, because we’re all fighting on the same team,” Ben says. “John Fred might have a guitar riff, or me or Chris might have a drum beat. And Steve is our bass player, but he played slide on the last album, and there’s parts on the new stuff where he plays guitar. It was cool to think you could start the day without a song, and five hours later walk out with a demo.”

‘Celebrate’ is an EP of contrasts. ‘I’m Fine’ is a dreamily woozy, Nirvana-laced grunge singalong. But it was the searing, mid-tempo heartache of ‘Deep’ that struck a really pertinent chord – with Ben in particular. Following long struggles with fertility issues, he and his wife suffered a miscarriage midway through the writing process. Two days later, he was channelling the experience into ‘Deep’.

For a curveball, ‘Celebrate’ is capped off with a strapping yet sensuous cover of Simple Minds’ classic ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’, featuring guest vocals from old Black Stone friend Tyler Connolly (Theory Of A Deadman). Immortalised in John Hughes’ seminal 1985 coming-of-age film The Breakfast Club, it turned out to be a surprisingly natural fit for Black Stone Cherry. A happy pairing with the soulful gravel and sincerity of Chris’s vocals. “I love that song!” the frontman laughs.

No one in Black Stone Cherry takes what they have for granted, least of all their fans. They’ll play to thousands in an arena or festival field, followed by a 100-capacity pub, and put on the exact same show. You can feel it in ‘Celebrate’: the sense that their hearts are totally invested, their priorities clear. Time spent with loved ones. Supporting one another. Connecting with audiences. Music that makes you feel something. No polish, no faking it, just moments that matter.

GRACE WOODROOFE SHARES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO “I LOVE YOU BABE”

Perth-born, Melbourne-based singer and guitarist Grace Woodroofe today makes a powerful return with new single and music video, “I Love You Babe”, out now. The release marks her first new music since 2023 and a formidable new era in her artistry.

“I Love You Babe” is a cinematic slice of indie-pop, capturing that fuzzy sweeping love at the outset of a relationship, when “nothing else matters”. Recently, Woodroofe has been collaborating with some of Australia’s finest talents, including Matt Corby, Dustin Tebbutt, Lachlan Bostock and Xavier Dunn, with this track produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy). An intoxicating soundscape evokes that blooming head-over-heels feeling, while as the song builds, a tension also simmers beneath – hinting at something more sinister in the fold.

Spurned by the raw emotions of her own lived experience, Grace continues, “‘I Love You Babe’ marks the start of a deeply personal story about an emotionally abusive relationship. It captures the early phase when everything felt all-consuming and magical — I thought it was what real love felt like. Looking back, I see how intense devotion can blur into control and isolation. This song sets the foundation for the album, showing how deeply I felt before things unraveled.”

“Sonically, the track feels warm and dreamy, with woozy guitars and layered harmonies that reflect that euphoric feeling. Inspired by 1960s girl groups, it pairs sweet melodies with subtle tension beneath the surface, mirroring how something that looks like love can reveal itself as something else. ‘I Love You Babe’ is the first chapter in a story about losing myself, finding clarity, and reclaiming my voice.”

I Love You Babe – Grace Woodroofe

After posting a few songs online, Grace Woodroofe was first discovered and signed by Heath Ledger for his label, The Masses Music, at age 17. Swept into a whirlwind beginning of her career, she soon released her debut album Always Want, released on Modular Recordings and produced by acclaimed singer-songwriter Ben Harper, before touring across the US and Italy alongside him. The album saw widespread acclaim including reaching #3 on the Australian iTunes Charts, singles “Battles” and “Transformer” landing various ‘Song of the Day’ accolades on US radio, plus seeing Grace feature in Vogue Australia, The West Australian, Herald Sun, The Sunday Times and named in coveted series such as Paste Magazine’s ‘Best Of What’s Next’ and Rolling Stone Magazine’s ‘Artist to Watch’. On stage, she has performed notable festivals Splendour in the Grass (alongside Ben Harper), Bluesfest Byron Bay, SXSW, Secret Garden, The Hills are Alive and more, plus supported further artists including as alt-j, Glass Animals, Matt Corby, Cat Power, Jack Johnson, Paul Kelly & Neil Finn and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros.

In 2015, she shared the electronica-pop EP Love It Need It Miss It Want It under a new moniker, R.W. Grace, but when her personal life became consumed by an emotionally abusive relationship, Grace grew distanced from her music. Through years of trial, error and hard-earned healing, she found her way back to music, where her story could finally live in sound.

Ruby Gilbert Deals Karmic Justice With Femme Fatale Poise On ‘Goddamn Fool’ Out Friday, September 19

Ruby Gilbert returns with ‘Goddamn Fool’, a brooding tale of karmic justice and emotional reckoning. With its slow-burning tension and cinematic grit, the track unfolds like a modern-day villain origin story, inspired by the cool stoicism of 60s and 70s Spaghetti Westerns and the lingering menace of southern gothic noir.

Gilbert’s storytelling cuts close to the bone, delivering lines with a twang and tension that feel pulled from a sun-scorched outback showdown. It’s the sound of someone who’s been outplayed, knows it, and walks away from the wreckage without asking for forgiveness or redemption.

A long-time favourite of Triple J, Double J, The Music, Music Feeds and beyond, Ruby Gilbert has spent years capturing the hearts of listeners with her rich, filmic take on country noir. From her 2018 EP ‘Dearly Beloved’ to syncs on Netflix and ABC, and appearances at Gympie Music Muster, BIGSOUND and TEDx, she’s carved a niche at the crossroads of dark folk and desert western storytelling.

In ‘Goddamn Fool’, banjo, gritty electric guitar and acoustic guitar tumble through the track with dusty swagger, painting wide skies and long roads. The arrangement is richly layered and cinematic, blooming with menace and melancholy. Drums propel the song with a hypnotic steadiness, grounding Gilbert’s performance as she sings with the poise of a femme fatale, assured, unflinching, and laced with the weight of consequence.

Relationships can feel like a game or a standoff. In ‘Goddamn Fool’, Ruby lays out the final hand. She’s been outplayed, left with no choice but to fold and walk away. It’s the closing scene in a long and loaded story. As Ruby puts it:

“It’s about karmic justice; being outplayed, knowing you had it coming, and accepting the fall without asking for forgiveness or redemption.”

The music video extends this world, placing Gilbert centre-stage like a living exhibit in a gallery of memory and regret. Framed by stark lighting and Australian art, she’s presented to a silent crowd, her movements deliberate, stylised, almost like a broken-down line-dance. As the performance builds, Ruby steps beyond the confines of the frame, slipping out of the picture and into the room. Moving through the crowd, she blurs the line between spectacle and storyteller, no longer just a figure in someone else’s memory but a force reclaiming her own story.

‘Goddamn Fool’ is a fable of downfall told with elegance, fire, and eerie restraint. Step inside Ruby Gilbert’s strange and stirring world, where outlaw hearts still roam, the air hums with tension, and nothing is ever quite what it seems.

ABBEY LANE Learns, Unlearns, and Begins Again on EP ‘Lessons Learnt’

EP Out Thursday, September 25

Growth rarely comes easy. It stumbles in late, knocks things over, and leaves its mark in quiet, unexpected ways. On her new EP ‘Lessons Learnt’, out Thursday, September 25, Abbey Lane traces the winding path of early adulthood with tenderness and insight, offering six intimate reflections on what it means to evolve, to unlearn, and to begin again.

These songs bloom in different shades. Some burst with the bright defiance of indie rock, all shimmering guitars and propulsive drums, while others slip into softer spaces built on slow-burning alternative pop. Her voice moves between restraint and release, drawing strength from stillness one moment, then soaring with conviction the next.

“This EP is all about growing, learning and navigating your way through early adulthood,” Abbey shares. “All the songs on this project revolve around different concepts of growth, whether it’s about learning from mistakes, feeling lost in life decisions, or learning from young relationships.”

The EP holds a series of emotional swells where vulnerability builds into something bold and unflinching. It is a sound that carries the weight of growth, not always graceful but always honest, as each track traces a new contour of becoming.

Opening with distorted edges and a rush of momentum, ‘Lessons Learnt’ surges on soaring guitars and pulsing pop-rock energy. Abbey’s vocals rise through the static with strength and shimmer, turning reflection into something vivid and alive.

‘Bigger Man’ turns hindsight into healing, piecing together an old relationship with the wisdom that time affords. Steady drums and warm guitars support Abbey’s voice, firm and reflective with quiet resolve.

Then there is a softness with ‘Baby Steps’, a breath between heavier moments. Awash in dreamy guitar tones, soft synths and gentle percussion, Abbey’s vocals shimmer with vulnerability, offering a quiet reminder that even the smallest strides still carry weight.

‘Again & Again’ bursts with kaleidoscopic colour and the swirling momentum of layered electric guitars. It rides a wave of rich indie rock energy, lifted by Abbey’s impassioned vocal delivery as she reaches for a sense of identity still coming into focus.

Anchored by soft synths and minimal percussion, Abbey delivers her most vulnerable performance with ‘Burning Out’, tracing the contours of confusion and fatigue with a steady hand and a voice that feels both tender and unflinching.

Just as the weight begins to settle, ‘Younger’ lifts the EP with a rush of light to close it out. Written on her first solo van trip, it captures the freedom of the open road with buoyant guitars and a wide-eyed sense of becoming.

A collection of growing pains and quiet triumphs, ‘Lessons Learnt’ traces the moments of feeling lost and the flickers of self-discovery that follow. Abbey Lane’s ‘Lessons Learnt’ arrives Thursday, September 25.

TASMANIA/LUTRUWITA-BASED ARTIST OSCAR O’SHEA ANNOUNCES DEBUT EP ‘LAST LIGHTS & LOST MEANING’. OUT 10 OCTOBER. NEW SINGLE  ‘LOST THE LIGHT’  OUT NOW

Tasmania/Lutruwita-based artist Oscar O’Shea announces his debut EP, Last Lights & Lost Meaning, set for release on Friday 10 October via GYROstream. Alongside the announcement, he unveils his new single ‘Lost the Light’—a powerful follow-up that deepens the emotional terrain explored in his breakout track ‘Redemption’.

Oscar’s story is one of near surrender and unexpected revival. Just months ago, he was working in a restaurant, quietly preparing to step away from music for good – until fate seated legendary producer John Castle (Vance Joy, Angie McMahon, Cub Sport) at one of his tables. Oscar, a longtime fan, took a deep breath and introduced himself. That single moment changed everything.

Since then, Oscar has poured himself into recording his debut EP in Castle’s Launceston studio. The process reignited the creative spark that had been dimmed by doubt, leading to a run of songwriting that has produced some of his most vulnerable and affecting work to date.

His latest single, ‘Lost the Light’, captures the emotional weight of losing one’s inner compass and the aching desire to find it again. Speaking on the new single, O’Shea shares; “Lost the Light’ was written during a period of time where I had lost parts of myself that I had always leaned on. It’s about recognising that those parts are out of reach and the desperation I was feeling to get them back. The song has a strong connection with Lutruwita (Launceston) and how it can feel living in a valley through the winter when you lose the sun early and get it back later than you remember. It recognises the loss of connection one can feel when they ignore their internal honesty and let go of themselves. It’s about sitting in that space and letting it wash over you as you sit down in the valley and wait for the heaviness to pass.”

Oscar O’Shea – ‘Lost the Light’ (Official Music Video)

Much like ‘Redemption’, which explored the push and pull between staying and leaving, loving and letting go, ‘Lost the Light’ offers another intimate look into Oscar’s evolving emotional landscape. His songwriting is steeped in small-town nostalgia and poetic realism, calling to mind artists like Noah Kahan, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sam Fender.

The upcoming EP Last Lights & Lost Meaning weaves these moments into a larger narrative about identity, connection, and the quiet power of honesty. For Oscar, it’s not just a collection of songs, it’s a commitment to choosing music, meaning, and himself.

‘This is so much more important than anything I do. It’s that feeling of belonging and finally saying yes to myself.’

Oscar’s not dancing around his passion anymore. He’s running straight at it. And if ‘Lost The Light’ is any indication, his debut EP will be something truly special.

ENVY OF NONE Return With New 3-Track Single ‘The Thrill’

Limited Edition 12” Vinyl Available, All Proceeds To Be Donated To Unhcr And Their Ukraine Relief Campaign

Following the release of their lauded second album Stygian Wavz in March, Canadian four-piece Envy Of None are back today with a 3-track single and a brand-new video.

The new offering features an alternative version of album track, a demo version, and the album track itself.

Bassist Andy Curran states “Thrill of the Chase was one of the last songs we worked on before handing in the completed record. It started with Alf’s funky demo and Maiah loved it and was very vocal about completing it. She and I were wanting to add something up tempo to the record and this one, despite being a little left of center style wise seemed to fit nicely. It has a cool funky positive vibe that we enjoyed exploring, especially the outro dance party section!”

Alfio Annibalini adds “At first glance, this track seems like an odd choice to include on the album, but once Maiah added her vocals, the track instantly sounded as if EON had walked through a new yet familiar door. And as a special bonus, the remix even features a cowbell!”

Alongside the digital release, Envy Of None will also be releasing ‘The Thrill’ as a 12” coloured vinyl version of the single with all proceeds from this release donated to UNHCR’s response to the Ukraine emergency. Speaking on the charity aspect of the single, the band shared:

“It is disheartening and infuriating that three years after Envy Of None initiated a fundraiser in support of the people of Ukraine, as they battle the invasion of their sovereign country by Russia, we are once again trying to do our part and ask you, sincerely, for your support in this repeated initiative.  Every little bit counts, and our hope is that our collective assistance will ease their burden even a little and we never have to do this again. While Ukraine’s most formidable ally loses interest and seems to support the Russian campaign of terror, it is left to us to do what we can.

We are proud of the work we have done and prouder still of our commitment to make the world a better place than it is.  With the purchase of this record, you too are helping ease their pain.  Thank you for your kindness and generosity.”

STELLAR CIRCUITS Reveal 2nd Single, ‘Corridor’ + New Album, PHANTOM :: PHOENIX, Out NOV. 14th

Prog-Alt-Metal upstarts STELLAR CIRCUITS have debuted the 2nd single, ‘Corridor,’ from their sophomore album, Phantom :: Phoenix, that’s out November 14th via Nuclear Blast Records. The anthemic new track adds rocket fuel to the band’s upward trajectory with mesmerizing vocals and hooking riffs; another highlight from their game-changing new record.

Commenting on the upcoming album, vocalist Ben Beddick says: “With ‘Corridor,’ it seemed like we uncovered a side of the band that we haven’t really explored before. It felt like we tapped into a lighter, more uplifting part of our sound and that was exciting to discover.

The song has a very nostalgic vibe and seems to stem from influences that we haven’t been able to express in previous albums. It feels very removed from our darker and heavier side but we also feel like it only adds to the breadth of music that we’re able to create.”

‘CORRIDOR’ MUSIC VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdNlLebaPGI

STELLAR CIRCUITS’ follow up to 2023’s acclaimed record Sight To Sound, is a cathartic work of art that explores the trials and tribulations of life and death and the process of healing and perseverance in the face of agony.

Beddick says of the album: “When we were writing this record, one of the things that kept coming up was the idea of death and rebirth through fire. This idea of killing off the old and dead parts of ourselves in order to give birth to something new and maybe even a truer version of who we all are. Every time we write an album, we go into the process with the idea of getting uncomfortable and exposing a more vulnerable part of ourselves. There also seems to be a constant theme of dealing with loss when we’re in the middle of writing.

Everybody went through different periods of loss and grief during this process and I think that it shows through in the subject matter and the sounds that came out of it. We always want to push ourselves to a new place and build on the foundation that we’ve created over the last few years of being in this band. I think that we’ve been able to achieve that with Phantom :: Phoenix. It’s a representation of that cycle and I hope it can act as a catalyst for growth to those who listen.”

Fusing punishing grooves, intricate melodies, and emotional weight, the album pushed the band’s sonic boundaries while staying rooted in their intense, immersive sound. Tracks like “Witch House” and “Catch Your Death” showcase a darker, more evolved edge that continues to resonate with fans of metal and progressive rock alike.

The band—Ben Beddick (vocals), Jesse Olsen (bass), Tyler Menon (drums), and Jared Stamey (guitar)—has built a reputation for emotionally charged, technically precise live performances, following extensive touring and appearances alongside acts like Chevelle and Arch Echo. With a growing audience and relentless creative energy, Stellar Circuits has emerged as one of the most dynamic forces in modern progressive metal.

Now, the band is preparing to enter a bold new chapter with their upcoming album Phantom :: Phoenix, set for release in 2025. A cinematic and visceral exploration of light and dark, the album delves into themes of personal transformation and the rebirth of the self through fire. It’s an emotionally and sonically expansive record that challenges both the band and the listener to confront what must be destroyed in order to evolve. With new music on the horizon and a sharpened creative vision, Stellar Circuits is poised to break new ground and leave a lasting mark on the genre.

DYSSIDIA Aussie Prog Masters Deliver First New Music in Five Years with Serum Sickness

After nearly five years of solemn solitude, Dyssidia resurface with ‘Serum Sickness’, a tightly-coiled, venom-laced single that signals the rebirth of one of Australia’s most distinct progressive metal voices.

At once cryptic and visceral, ‘Serum Sickness’ hints at the disorientation of misplaced trust; the slow unraveling of reverence into suspicion. It captures the moment when what once appeared as guidance takes on a more serpentine form. The song’s poetry is subtle but pointed, whilst musically it is layered, dynamic and unafraid to shift gears mid-stride.

Mitch Brackman leads with a vocal performance that blends control with abandon, navigating moments of ghostly restraint and explosive release. Behind him, the band executes with precision, wrapping technical passages in atmosphere and tension without ever losing sight of the emotional core.

Brackman adds; ‘Serum Sickness’ is the beginning of something sharper, more dangerous, and far more honest.”

Their first release under Wild Thing Records, ‘Serum Sickness’ doesn’t just mark a return, it marks a transition. It’s a calculated strike after a long period of stillness. A signpost for where the band is heading: deeper, clearer, and more direct.

JODI MARTIN ’NEVER SAY DIE!’ (ALBUM)

]Never Say Die! delivers an album’s worth of musical snapshots to paint a picture of Jodi Martin’s 25 year musical journey since releasing her debut album Water and Wood in 2000.

Never Say Die! is a world-class record showcasing Jodi’s signature blend of country, folk and Americana. It includes brand new songs such as Tommy the Toyota, Voice on the Line and Country Mile (featuring Lachlan Bryan) and stellar new productions of Jodi’s classic Love That Survives and the harmonica-driven toe-tapper All I Want Is You, never before released on an album.

A special highlight is The Gun Shearer, featuring Luke O’Shea which Jodi co-wrote with her 9 year old brother when she herself was only 11 years old. The Gun Shearer became pivotal in her songwriting journey at that early age. AMRAP chart-topping fan favourites Diesel and Round the Corner round out the impressive body of work that is Jodi’s Never Say Die! silver anniversary album.

With seven critically acclaimed albums, an ARIA Award, and collaborations with artists including Kasey Chambers, Arlo Guthrie, and Steve Leslie, Jodi has earned her place as a cherished figure in the Australian music world and beyond. Never Say Die is a masterpiece of an album, uniquely Australian and underscoring a unique and important songwriter in contemporary music.

On the surface, life looks seamless — the house is tidy, bills are paid, Friday night’s party is in full swing, and everything seems “right.” But Jodi Martin’s All I Want Is You reveals what lies beneath the routine. The truth of her longing heart is delivered in a high energy country-blues toe-tapper where aching harmonica echoes and interplays with her words and the driving beat. Jodi lays bare the unshakable truth: love is the only thing  which can bring true peace and meaning in the end.

All I Want Is You, launched on the 25th of September kicks off the East Coast leg of Jodi’s epic year-long Never Say Die! Tour and album launch. The tour celebrates 25 years of recording and releasing original music. This latest single is a raw, heartfelt reminder that some truths cannot be ignored.

Authenticity runs through Jodi’s entire career. From penning her first songs as a child on her family’s South Australian grain farm, to touring Canada in the snow, to co-writing with folk legend Arlo Guthrie across the USA, Jodi has built a body of work and a career defined by raw honesty and grit.

Her Never Say Die! Tour, marking 25 years of recording music is inspired by her dad’s beloved ute, Tommy the Toyota. The song of the same name became a number 1 AMRAP single this year, spearheading the tour. Jodi’s music life has seen her continue to forge forward as an independent artist through every challenge with the determination of a Landcruiser on red dirt; unstoppable.

Jodi’s latest single showcases the brilliant musicianship of Nicky Bomba and Trent Williamson who also featured on her debut Water and Wood in 2000. All I Want is You is a fun, upbeat tribute to the enduring importance of love.

Art vs Science return with infectious ode to the snow, ‘Powder’, alongside video

Known for their dancefloor filling, feel-good songs, Art vs Science are back with another infectious anthem, ‘Powder’, a somewhat-silly ode to the snow which has nods to Daft Punk, Kraftwerk and… *checks notes*… yodelling.

On the creation of ‘Powder’, Art vs Science’s Dan Mac says “I love this video and song. The song came first – and it was silly from the get go. There was Kraftwerk and Daft Punk in its DNA, who are two of the major deities in the Art vs Science pantheon. In writing the lyrics I thought about the times I’d been skiing with my bandmates, Dan and Jim, and how fun it was. There were so many moments where I would stop and listen to what the song wanted to be, and when I recorded it, it would make me laugh. So, this song is a pile of my laughs stacked on top of each other.”

STREAM & DOWNLOAD ART VS SCIENCE ‘POWDER’

Fittingly for such an upbeat and fun-loving song, ‘Powder’ is accompanied by an equally rambunctious music video, created by Dan Mac and Alex Roberts, who directed the band’s iconic videos for ‘Parlez Vous Francais?‘ and ‘Magic Fountain‘, both of which have racked up millions of views. Using a mix of cutting-edge AI and traditional editing processes, the music video for ‘Powder’ is a wonderful example of how artists can use AI to create something truly extraordinary that they ordinarily wouldn’t have the resources for.

On using AI, Dan Mac explains I played Alex Roberts the new Art vs Science song, and the ideas started flying about. He’s been dabbling in AI video making and texted me few videos ideas. Straight away we were like, “Ooh it’s a Yeti singing”, and then “He’s in the cave because he got chased away by the villagers”… and this little backstory started to emerge. It was a joy to make. We would listen to the music, and imagine funny scenes, then type it into the computer and bring them to life. There are definitely some problematic aspects to AI, but as Alex says, were making art with this, and to actually make a production like this video would have cost a million bucks, and burnt tons of CO2, and would never have happened on our budget. You’d have to transport an enormous crew and extras and lighting up to a ski village. Instead we captured lots of laughs between friends with this video and told a weird story, so it’s good.”

Named after their respective university degrees, Art vs Science was formed in Sydney in 2008 by three friends from high school, Dan Williams, Dan Mac and Jim Finn. Before they had even written any songs, they were offered a gig by a mate and subsequently wrote seven songs in 48 hours.

Very soon after, they won a triple j Unearthed competition which saw them play one of their first shows at Splendour In The Grass. Right from their inception, their music was tailor made for big festival stages and they went on to play almost every major festival in the country over the next decade, including these energetic live performances at Falls Festival (2009), Splendour In The Grass (2014) and triple j’s One Night Stand (2011), as well as touring America, UK and Japan.

Widely known as one of the best live acts in Australia, Art vs Science proudly play 100% live, and as a result, their quirky, theatrical, electronic pop sets quickly caught the eye of Datarock and The Chemical Brothers, who invited the band to support them on their Australian tours.

Art vs Science have released three albums, The Experiment (2011), Off the Edge of the Earth and into Forever, Forever (2015) and Big Overdrive (2022), the former of which won an ARIA Award for Best Independent Release. They’ve also recorded a triple j Like a Version cover of Daft Punk’s ‘Harder Better Faster Stronger’ and fans have consistently voted them into triple j’s Hottest 100 countdowns for their anthemic songs ‘Parlez Vous Francais?’ (#2 in 2009) and ‘Magic Fountain’ (#9 in 2010) and ‘Flippers’ (#44 in 2008).

More recently, Art vs Science were voted #22 in triple j Unearthed’s 100 Best Discoveries, compiled using listener votes from the Hottest 100 of Australian Songs, proving the enduring love for the band.

Now, having just released one of the catchiest songs of the year in ‘Powder’, Art vs Science prepare to release a string of new singles and a return to the stage next year.

PORTUGAL. THE MAN ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM  SHISH OUT NOV 7 ON KNIK/THIRTY TIGERS

REVEAL TWO NEW SINGLES “TANANA” & “MUSH”

Portugal. The Man has been keeping fans on their toes all summer—first with the surprise EP uLu Selects Vol. 2, and most recently with the slinky new track “Denali.” Today, the Alaskan-bred, Portland-based band returns with news of their highly anticipated album SHISH, out November 7 via KNIK, the band’s imprint on Thirty Tigers. To mark the announcement, they’re sharing two singles off the album, the soaring “Tanana,” where Gourley’s vocals take center stage, and the frenetic “Mush,” a high-octane preview of the record to come.

On the new tracks, Gourley shares, “‘Mush’ is survival, connection, and ambition. Rural life with moments of danger and absurdity, like dirt bikes, smokers, gunfire, and video games. The repeated line ‘we can be family’ pushes against isolation, reaching for something solid. This is a repeating theme on the record – build a life, support your people, buy land, and grow something lasting. The message is simple: don’t give up, want more, and fight for it. Meanwhile, ‘Tanana’ voices a generational sadness, searching for fleeting meaning in a world on edge.”

SHISH finds Portugal. The Man on the edge of discovery. Earlier this summer, they dropped their surprise EP uLu Selects Vol #2, an unflinching, blisteringly honest collection of sonic exorcisms. Now with SHISH, Portugal. The Man pulls the curtain back further – across its ten distinct tracks, the band leans into discomfort, vulnerability, and the warped pop sensibility that only Portugal. The Man can offer

ABOUT PORTUGAL. THE MAN
Portugal. The Man soared to new heights in 2017 with the release of their now RIAA-certified Platinum album, Woodstock. The album was marked by the astounding success of their infectious single, “Feel It Still,” which earned the group a GRAMMY for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance,” a 7x RIAA Platinum certification, a record setting 20-week residency at #1 on alternative radio, and an inescapable presence on the Top 40 airwaves.

Alongside the shine of their myriad of musical accomplishments lies the group’s long-standing passion for social justice. In fact, this is precisely the intersection in which Portugal. The Man thrives; throughout their career, the band has consistently exemplified how to deeply commit to both artistry and activism. This ultimately inspired them to launch the Pass The Mic Foundation in 2020, focused on universal issues related to human rights, community health, and the environment, with an emphasis on causes directly impacting Indigenous Peoples, including Alaska Native Health (providing the highest quality of health services for Alaska Native people) and Seeding Sovereignty (radicalizing and disrupting colonized spaces through land, body, food sovereignty work and more). The band is also committed to raising awareness and vital funds for the DHDDS community through the Frances Changed My Life campaign. Created in honor of Gourley’s daughter Frances, the campaign aims to support families affected by DHDDS by helping ease both the emotional and financial burdens that come with rare diseases. Over the past couple of years, the band has raised and donated over a million dollars across both charities.

Portugal. The Man have also partnered with an array of organizations such as National Coalition Against Censorship, The Skatepark Project (helping communities build public skate parks for youth in underserved communities), March for Our Lives (Gun Reform), Keep Oregon Well (Mental Health), and Protect Our Winters (Climate Change), to name just a few. In 2022, the band furthered their passion for activism when they launched PTM’s NIGHT OUT initiative, supporting disabled fans requiring ADA access.

Benny Morrell Reflects on Life’s Chaos in New Single Where Did The Time Go

Melbourne singer-songwriter Benny Morrell returns with his evocative new single Where Did The Time Go, a track that captures the raw confusion of living fast and losing track of the moments that matter most. Balancing shimmering pop production with aching vulnerability, the song reflects on nights blurred by excess and the inevitable question that follows: how did things unravel so quickly? With its soaring chorus and intimate verses, Where Did The Time Go showcases Benny’s ability to transform deeply personal experiences into music that resonates universally. The single received its first play last night on triple j’s Home & Hosed with Anika Luna.

“Where Did The Time Go?” is a story about someone I knew in my life. Out too late and doing too much and amongst the chaos it just asks the question, ‘How the hell did we get here?’” Benny shares.

The single continues the confessional thread of his forthcoming EP All That’s Left, where Benny examines love, loss and the messy in-betweens of navigating your twenties. It’s this fearless honesty, paired with a pop sensibility honed through years of writing for others, that has set Benny apart as an artist. Known for his ability to blend anthemic hooks with lyrical storytelling, he creates songs that don’t just ask listeners to dance or cry, but to feel seen in their own chaos and healing.

With a career that already spans continents, Benny’s trajectory is nothing short of extraordinary. He has toured the country with Bliss n Eso, playing 5000-cap rooms off the back of writing their album, before joining Kita Alexander’s national tour. Benny’s collaborative reach is vast, with credits on records for Netflix band Midnight Till Morning, Thailand’s WIM, China’s KUN, Brazil’s Pontifexx, Australia’s Lane Pittman and Coterie, and US country star Nate Smith.

Industry recognition has followed, with features in Rolling Stone Australia, Take Flight Australia, Naluda Magazine, The Rhythm Club, The Hoist, GQ Thailand and Amazon Music US. His music has resonated with global streaming audiences, with over 100 million Spotify streams and 30 million YouTube views, bolstered by playlisting support on Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ, India and Suomi, Pop n’ Fresh, All New Pop, Peaceful Pop, Fresh Country and Fresh Dance Beats. Benny’s collaborative spirit has also earned him invitations to some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Tomorrowland Brazil.

As he looks toward the release of his forthcoming EP All That’s Left with co-writer Harry Charles, Benny continues to carve out an ambitious path that blends pop accessibility with artistic depth. With new music arriving, a premiere at Tomorrowland Brazil, a US writing trip, and fresh projects on the horizon, Where Did The Time Go Go serves as another reminder that Benny Morrell is an artist destined to make a global impact.
