Audio-Technica unveils its latest wooden audiophile product: the ATH-WP900SE. These over-ear headphones are designed to accurately reproduce the sound of string instruments, with a clear emphasis on guitars. The newest flagship portable HiFi headphones are available in selected stores and online for the RRP of $1,199.
The solid ash wood earcups house 53 mm dynamic drivers, made exclusively for this limited edition. This new voice coil improves the linearity of driving force and delivers high-resolution sound. Equalised ventilation behind the drivers suppresses asymmetric vibration and unwanted resonance. The optimised acoustic port shape allows for a tight, low-frequency response.

Since first introducing wooden headphones in 1996 with the ATH-W10VTG, Audio-Technica has been analysing various types of wood for use in headphones. The wood chosen for these headphones offers a beautiful grain finish and superior acoustic properties, delivering a clear sound field with rich, warm tones. The same wood is also traditionally found in electric guitars and basses. The housing uses the characteristics of solid ash, combined with meticulous tuning, to accurately reproduce clear contours, rich low frequencies, and subtle nuances.
Smooth synthetic leather and a three-dimensional sewing pattern are used for the headband and earpads to provide a gentle fit from the top of the head to the ears. Both the headband and the earpads are low-rebound. This reduces pressure and makes extended listening sessions more comfortable.
The headphone cable uses A2DC* connectors, which are specially designed for superior audio quality and durability. A2DC connector tips feature a unique design that eliminates sound loss and noise. The connector also ensures stable signal transmission for accurate sound delivery, even when moved. They are durable and withstand the test of time and repeated use, ensuring long-term enjoyment and usability.

The package includes a dual-ended 1.2 m balanced cable (4.4 mm (0.17″) 5-pole plug) and a 1.2 m cable (3.5 mm stereo mini-plug). These are designed for use with Hi-Res Audio players and balanced-connection-compatible headphone amplifiers.
The headphones can be folded flat for storage in the included pouch to make them conveniently portable.
