Australia is invited to turn it up for Bon Scott’s 80th birthday. Official Let There Be Bon – The #Bon80 Fan & Venue Downloadable Pack, new Australian merch store and commemorative collectables released as fans prepare to honour the AC/DC legend on 9 July
Forty-six years after his death, Bon Scott is still bringing Australians together.
The legendary AC/DC frontman would have turned 80 on Thursday 9 July, and from Fremantle to Melbourne and beyond, fans, pubs, clubs, venues, musicians and rock lovers are preparing to celebrate the life and legacy of one of Australia’s most enduring cultural icons.
Following the unveiling of a new Bon Scott mural in Melbourne’s AC/DC Lane, featuring artwork by acclaimed visual artist and Mental As Anything co-founder Reg Mombassa , the focus now turns to 9 July, with fans across the country invited to take part in the wider #Bon80 celebrations.
To help fans, pubs, clubs, venues and bands turn it up for Bon, the Bon Scott Estate will release Let There Be Bon: The #Bon80 Fan & Venue Pack – loaded with posters, social tiles and everything needed to soundtrack a loud, proud tribute on 9 July and across the weekend.
Made for pubs, clubs, bars, live music venues, cover bands, DJs, promoters and fans who want to play Bon-era AC/DC, dedicate a song, host a tribute night, share photos and videos, or simply raise a glass to one of rock’s greatest frontmen.
For public downloads, fans, venues, bands, DJs and promoters are encouraged to access Let There Be Bon: The #Bon80 Fan & Venue Pack via the official Bon Scott website: bonscottofficial.com/bon80
The celebrations also coincide with the launch of the new Australian home of official Bon Scott merchandise, Licensing Essentials, giving local fans access to official Bon Scott merchandise and commemorative products at: aus.bonscottofficial.com
Australian Musician contributor Craig Eriksson got into the Bon Scott spirit recently, catching the fabulous Cynthia Gallea fronting Bon But Not Forgotten at the Corner Hotel on July 4th this year. Filmed by Craig Eriksson in celebration of Bon Scott’s birthday on July 9.
Leading the Australian collection is the exclusive Bon Scott 80 x Reg Mombassa artwork, available across a limited-edition range of t-shirts, hoodies, puzzles, tea towels and coffee mugs.
Additional collectables are also being released to commemorate what would have been Bon’s 80th birthday, including The Perth Mint’s commemorative 1g gold and 10g silver bars, featuring the Bon Scott logo and bespoke packaging.
The Perth Mint release follows the instant sell-out of the official Bon Scott coin in 2024, underscoring the continuing demand for collectables celebrating the legendary singer’s life, music and legacy.
In another global tribute, Neumann, in partnership with the Scott Family, is also celebrating Bon Scott with the U 47 FET Bon Scott Edition, honouring the rock icon through one of the most celebrated microphones in recording history. In the spirit of supporting the music community, Neumann and the Scott Family will donate a portion of proceeds from this edition to music industry charity Support Act, helping artists and industry professionals in need.

Born in Scotland and raised in Western Australia, Bon Scott became the voice of AC/DC during the band’s formative years, helping shape some of the most recognisable songs in rock history before his death in 1980.
What makes the 80th birthday milestone remarkable is not only Scott’s place in music history, but the way his legacy continues to resonate nearly half a century later.
In Fremantle, fans continue to make the pilgrimage to the Bon Scott statue, a landmark for music lovers from around the world. In Melbourne, AC/DC Lane now carries a new tribute to Bon through Reg Mombassa’s artwork. Across the country, venues and fans are preparing to turn it up in his honour.

During AC/DC’s Australian tour last year, fans travelled from around the country to visit Bon Scott’s statue in Fremantle, while a recent Triple M poll ranked him the second greatest lead singer of all time, behind Freddie Mercury and ahead of artists including Michael Hutchence, Jimmy Barnes and Liam Gallagher.
For many Australians, Bon Scott remains more than a rock singer. He is part of the country’s cultural identity. And on 9 July, Australians are invited to celebrate him loudly, proudly and together. Fans, venues, bands, DJs and promoters celebrating Bon Scott’s 80th birthday are encouraged to share their plans, photos and videos tagging @bonscott.official using #Bon80.
