ANYA ALCHEMY SHARES DEFIANT NEW SINGLE DON’T SAY YOU NEVER FELT IT CO-PRODUCED AND CO-WRITTEN WITH ALICE IVY
Weaving enthralling vulnerability with lush sonics, rising Melbourne singer-songwriter Anya Alchemy shares her mesmerising new single Don’t Say You Never Felt It.
Powered by Anya’s silky, dynamic vocals, Don’t Say You Never Felt It channels soulful warmth alongside indie alt-pop gloss, offering equal parts cathartic immersion and polished earworm. Co-written with Alice Ivy, aka Annika Schmarsel (Mallrat, Thelma Plum, Ecca Vandal), Don’t Say You Never Felt It expands beyond Anya’s usual writing processes, with an auspicious beat from Alice Ivy also proving to be the key to unlocking the sublime end result. “I usually write with my brother so creating with Annika was a really fun experience,” shares Anya. “We had great chemistry and flow in the studio, and the songs just seemed to pour out. I don’t often write from scratch during co-writing sessions either but the lyrics for Don’t Say You Never Felt it seemed to come so naturally when I heard Annika’s beat.”
With mixing courtesy of Matt Bartlem (Boo Seeka, Lastlings, Jarryd James) and mastering by Dale Becker (Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter), Don’t Say You Never Felt It amplifies Anya’s ever-flourishing sonic universe, dazzling with confidence and deeply relatable subject matter, as she elaborates, “I wrote this song about someone holding back their feelings for you and lying to themselves. I could tell that they felt the same way as me but wouldn’t admit it.”
“My team is absolutely insane,” Anya continues. “I don’t think I could find a better group of people to believe in and back me. From my brother Jay, my manager Em and then Dale Becker and Matt Bartlem, I just feel so lucky that they all want to be part of this journey with me. As an independent artist, it can be super hard to get ahead or to feel like you can “compete” on the same level as the pros, but with this team behind me I honestly feel like anything is possible.
Alchemy by name and alchemist by nature, Anya Alchemy’s bewitching artistry is a transmutation of raw authenticity and genre-blending nods to indie alt-pop, hip hop and beyond. Hailing from picturesque regional Victoria, Anya’s diverse influences merge with her own signature flair to create a sound that is refreshing and unforgettable, with a huge global appeal. With her chameleonic creative nature seamlessly taking her from heartfelt ballad to powerful anthem without breaking a sweat, Anya’s rich and soulful vocals are also the ultimate cornerstone to her sound, powered by her knack for immersive storytelling and soul-shaking live delivery.
From her 2019 debut single Home featuring Pez through to her 2024 anthem ICK, Anya has continued to seek beyond the boundaries of her own creativity, exploring new sonic terrain at every step, while also pushing herself as an artist. She’s shared stages with Conrad Sewell, Pierce Brothers, Boo Seeka, The Audreys, Nathan Cavaleri, as well as performing at Melbourne’s Hello Sunshine Festival with The Veronicas, Grinspoon, Bliss N Eso and more.
Continuing to carve out her sonic sorcery in 2026 and beyond, Don’t Say You Never Felt It heralds the beginning of an onslaught of killer releases to see the year out, belt up and standby for the unforgettable magic of Anya Alchemy.
“I’ve got stacks of singles waiting to be released this year and next, and am very happy to finally have my babies out in the world,” says Anya. “It sounds cheesy, but I just love making music, writing and singing. And even if it never made/makes a dime, this is still what I want to be doing until I die.”

NEW SONG SEEKS ANSWERS TO THE TRUTH BEHIND THE MURDERS OF FIVE AUSTRALIAN JOURNALISTS
Guitars For Vets Australia founder David Cox has written a powerful, emotionally-charged ballad titled Sea Of Lies about the Balibo Five.
The Balibo Five were a group of five Australian-Based journalists—two Australians (Greg Shackleton, Tony Stewart), two British citizens (Malcolm Rennie, Brian Peters), and one from New Zealand (Gary Cunningham) who were shockingly executed by invading Indonesian special forces in the town of Balibo, East Timor, on October 16, 1975. The group were reporting on covert Indonesian military incursions.
Cox explains: “As a young soldier at the time of the Balibo Five murders, I watched the Timor tragedy unfold live on the news media in October 1975 at the barracks where I was posted. At the time, I was concerned and aware that Indonesia was a ‘dangerous’ neighbour to our north, and could this incident spark something much bigger?”
Cox continues: “As events unfolded over the following weeks the story was changing, the manipulation and confusion of the information was clear and eventually fell off the daily news However, the horror of the murders and the subsequent cover-ups stayed with me for some time, with stark reminders coming through books, accounts, Television specials and reminders
on key anniversaries”.
2025 marked the 50th anniversary of the Balibo Five murders. Media specials and news articles brought it all back to Cox, this time with anger. Rather than be enraged privately, he felt the passion to write the song Sea Of Lies firstly as a tribute to the five journalists for simply seeking the truth. Cox was moved that only once a year or so, the events were raised and
then quickly forgotten, seemingly convenient for both Canberra and Jakarta that the ‘incident’ would be passed over with no one held to account.
Cox says: In recent years as a songwriter and supporting veterans experiencing PTSD through music, John Schumanns’ talent inspired me, and demonstrated the immense power of words and music that focused on emotional topics such as conscription, war and PTSD I had witnessed on many occasions. John’s example of storytelling through song convinced me emotionally to write this ballad”.
Cox added: My mission for Sea Of Lies is to raise awareness of the cold-blooded murders, the continued diplomatic deceptions, the convenient lack of accountability and the tragedy of five families still torn apart today with justice denied in a murky swamp of lies. Shamefully as a nation we failed to support these five journalists and bring truth to the murders. We must never forget or stop pursuing the murders, with still no one charged, no trial and no one held to account!”
Sea Of Lies was recorded and produced by renowned Australian record producer and classical music composer Lee Bradshaw. Bradshaw is also responsible for the poignant string arrangement. He selected the Budapest Scoring Orchestra which has cinematic experience to add the strength of the melody, emotion and mood of the lyrical narrative, providing waves of deep reflection through the chorus.
Melbourne guitarist Troy Downward played the soft Fado traditional Portuguese folk picking style that represents traditionally a sense of longing, fate, irreparable loss and lifelong damage. Symbolic as Timor was a Portugues colony struggling to gain independence at this time. Background vocals are performed by Lucca Franco.
Singer songwriter, guitarist and former soldier Dave Cox has written, recorded and released over 20 songs, traditionally about Australian life and heartfelt veteran inspired lyrics. He regularly performs acoustically around Melbourne venues.
‘Sea Of Lies’ is released & available on all digital platforms Friday 21 August, 2026

BLONDSHELL SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘FUR ELISE’ FROM THE NEW ALBUM VIOLINS OUT SEPTEMBER 25 VIA PARTISAN RECORDS
On September 25, Blondshell (Sabrina Teitelbaum) will release her new album Violins via Partisan Records. The album finds her trading the veil of bad romantic relationships for something braver, asking how we balance the world’s violence with its beauty across eleven songs about troubled friendships, religion, the body, and the long, unglamorous work of healing.
Today, Blondshell shares the album’s closing track ‘Fur Elise‘. An epic capstone, the track pairs Teitelbaum’s signature loud/quiet sonic structure with the most emotionally complex and resonant songwriting she’s ever recorded. Built around crunchy rhythmic guitars, warm low-end, and dense melodic arrangements that bloom into something panoramic, the song feels like the penultimate scene of a coming-of-age film.
Behind virtuosic hooks and Sabrina’s tactful, powerhouse alto, ‘Fur Elise’ narrates the complexities of growing up without knowing exactly how. The song turns on a central metaphor: walking down the aisle to the simple classical piano piece ‘Fur Elise’, fully aware that no one would actually get married to it. The mismatch is the point. She explains: “You’re trying to figure out what you want your life to look like, and what you want playing at your wedding, but you don’t even know where to start. You’re picking the wrong song.”
Growth, self-possession, and the ongoing process of healing might seem to another person like “watching paint dry,” as she sings on Violins’ opening title track, but on ‘Fur Elise’ she circles back around with a statement-of-self on her own terms: “Paint a wall with the things you want spoken out loud / And you get the choice to forget / And you render art / And the truth of it is separate.”
Produced by Yves Rothman, mixed by Beatriz Artola, and mastered by Emily Lazar and featuring previous singles ‘Heart Has To Work So Hard‘ and the title track, Violins is an album of grandeur, drama, and tragedy, built on virtuoso hooks, swelling guitars, and big lead lines. Telling lyrical nods to Leonard Cohen and Pavement sit alongside fresh influences – Gang of Four and Teenage Fanclub’s singular tones, The Go-Betweens’ indie-pop precision, Sade’s calming synths. Violins carries you like a wave.
“This record’s heavy in a way,” Teitelbaum says, though her songwriting breathes anew. “It’s gotten a little bit less literal,” she says. “There’s more imagery. But my main goal with this record was to have songs that hit hard. I wanted big lead lines.” Three albums on, Teitelbaum’s working relationship with Rothman has fully locked in – fleshing out the demos of songs Teitelbaum wrote on her own, then recording live with the band. “I felt like I wasn’t walking in the dark anymore,” Teitelbaum said of her increasing studio fluency. “I spend more time with Yves than almost anybody – we just have such an efficient working relationship.”
A mind-body tension flows through Violins. Teitelbaum writes about the body with her characteristically clever finesse, using food metaphors and singing bluntly about periods to underscore how the body and mind are inseparable. The album also finds her invoking the spiritual as she explores a personal relationship with a higher power not through organised religion but in the makeup of one’s earthly life.
Violins follows on from 2023’s Blondshell, which introduced Sabrina as a vital new voice in rock, and 2025’s If You Asked for a Picture and its companion release, Another Picture, featuring Conor Oberst, Samia, John Glacier, Gigi Perez and more. The album landed on numerous Best Of 2025 and Best Of 2025 (So Far) lists, including Vogue, Billboard, Rolling Stone, NME, Alternative Press and FLOOD Magazine. Its tracks have also earned individual recognition, with “T&A” – which she performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! – named among Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Songs of 2025 (#20), Billboard’s 50 Best Songs of 2025 So Far and Consequence’s 100 Best Songs of 2025 So Far (#29), while ‘What’s Fair’ featured in the LA Times’ 25 Best Songs of 2025 So Far.
Blondshell played Laneway Festival in 2024 and toured the east coast in February of this year, including headline dates in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and a festival appearance at Party in the Paddock. From October to December, she will embark on a massive North America and Europe/UK tour, where she will play some of her biggest headline shows to date, including The Roundhouse in London and Terminal 5 in her hometown of New York.

Sydney Opera House Live Reviews
“That it all looks so effortless is a trick only the truly great acts can pull off.” Sydney Morning Herald ★★★★½
“Everywhere you look, someone is crying, laughing, dancing, or doing some combination of all three. It’s difficult to think of another Australian band that can make a venue as imposing as the Sydney Opera House feel this intimate.” RUSSH
“For a band returning home after years away, there would have been an easy temptation to rely on nostalgia. Instead, Gang of Youths used the Opera House stage to show where they are now: more assured, more willing to leave space between the noise, and less interested in playing their songs exactly as expected. The emotional core remains intact, but this homecoming suggested a band whose creative confidence has only grown in the silence.” The Music
“Stories of grief, vulnerability and belonging can become powerful moments of collective catharsis… Authenticity doesn’t scale down when you move to bigger rooms.” Australian Musician
CHARLIE GRADON RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘HEATHROW’, ANNOUNCES ALBUM PAIN GAME + HEADLINE SHOWS FOR MELBOURNE & SYDNEY
With several dynamic sides to the English-born Northern Rivers musician, Charlie Gradon is an artist not so easily described – sage and considered as a songwriter, fervent and unrelenting in the studio, and off-the-wall on stage – and his upcoming sophomore album. Pain Game, plays like a shuffled deck of memories from a relationship over time, capturing every high, low and everything in between with striking, unguarded honesty.
His new single ‘Heathrow’ arrives today alongside the announcement of second album Pain Game, out Friday 25 September via Cassell Records, with two headline shows to follow in October. Vinyl pre-order for ‘Pain Game’ opens the same day as Heathrow.
Heathrow is the first single from Charlie Gradon’s second album, Pain Game. Marking a more expansive sonic direction, warbling synths sit alongside his unmistakably relatable songwriting. The track captures fleeting moments of a relationship with striking vulnerability, placing listeners inside memories of a love that never comes to pass. Anchored by the refrain, “forget about love, you gotta learn just how to be alone,” Heathrow is intimate, cinematic, and quietly devastating.
“Heathrow is a song that snuck onto the album at the last minute. I had just seen Cate Le Bon and was determined to make a song like her. After many failed attempts, this fell out when I stopped trying to be her. “Each verse is a different snapshot in time of real events, and the chorus is a reminder that we must love ourselves before turning to others.” – Charlie Gradon

SOPHIA STEL shares new single & video ‘Now I’ve Got A Lot You Know’ + joins Meredith Music Festival 2026 lineup
Single out now via A24 Music
Vancouver artist and producer Sophia Stel has just shared her new single ‘Now I’ve Got A Lot You Know‘. Self-produced and written by Sophia, the heartfelt track arrives alongside a self-edited music video that features her two younger brothers, who she shares an apartment with in Vancouver, and documents her journey over the course of the last six months — including her run opening for Lorde at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles in May and headline international tour.
The single also follows the recent announcement that Sophia will be joining the exciting lineup for Meredith Music Festival this December, alongside Dijon, underscores, Fcukers, The Dandy Warhols and more.
‘Now I’ve Got A Lot You Know’ stamps her third release with A24 Music after June’s ‘Molly In The Club‘ and April’s ‘Bitches Talk Shit‘, the latter of which garnered praise from the likes of Pitchfork — and even caught the attention of Robyn. In addition to the announcement that she’ll be playing A.G. Cook and PC Music’s POP CRYPT this fall and her feature in Wonderland Magazine’s Summer 2026 issue, which was guest edited by Miley Cyrus, recent months have also seen Stel make her runway debut at Ann Demeulemeester‘s Paris Fashion Week SS26 show, grace the covers of The Face and NME, and model spreads for Palace Skateboards and BASKETCASE following the release of her breakout EP, How to Win At Solitaire, the deluxe edition of which features collaborations with Mura Masa, Tommy Genesis, and Cecile Believe.
How to Win At Solitaire was produced, written, and recorded by Stel in a makeshift basement studio at Vancouver’s since shuttered Paradise, the DIY club she worked in at the time. Released last September, it served as her second project following her 2024 debut EP, Object Permanence. The 2025 deluxe edition featured sleeper hit ‘I’ll Take It‘, which rapidly caught fire on TikTok — and earned her a co-sign from Troye Sivan. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, she first cut her teeth within Vancouver’s local music scene, turning heads for her free-flowing prose, Y2K-indebted visuals, and mythos-tinted autobiography. Coupling lyricism inspired by her everyday life with patchwork aesthetics infused with the spontaneous, DIY ethos of homemade digicam videos, Stel was recently selected for this year’s DAZED 100 and Pigeons & Planes’ 26 Artists To Watch In 2026 list, while earning spots on Best Of 2025 lists from The Face, Notion, Gorilla vs. Bear, and Hearing Things. She is currently working on her debut album.

Together with producers Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm and György Barocsai, the band has crafted a record bursting with energy, attitude and a deep love for rock’s past and future.

A few words from the band about the song: “Creature Of The Night is about a person or being so irresistible that they take pleasure in ruining relationships and destroying people’s lives, watching them burn to the ground…”

“Ultra Portam Astralem” opens Space 1993: Wrath of Kor-Virliath with menacing drums and fanfare, shaping the cinematic setup of the album. The origin of the perilous undertone is explained in the following “Ultimate Sacrifice,” a sweeping power metal track: The Space Kingdom of Fife has been forsaken and Kor-Virliath seeks a new way to seize power after Zargothrax’s failed ritual. Previously released as a standalone single, “On a Quest for Aberdeen” shines anew in an album version; and the place of its vibrant story and rousing character, Angus V, is now fully revealed as it takes its place among the wider narrative of the album. At this point in the story however, peace isn’t an option yet: Aberdeen is overrun by demons in “Die with a Sword in My Hand,” and with a sentiment such as the one contained in this song’s title, epic battles will surely follow. With a chorus full of gang shouts, this track is certain to become a live favourite. “Silver Talon” keeps morale high by addressing the mighty galactic fleet, stunningly rendered on the album artwork against the backdrop of the pestilential Terrorvortex. Ser Proletius’ legendary Space Knights of Crail join their ranks with the ace pilots whose campaigns are illustrated amidst a stunning orchestral landscape in “Starfighters of Leuchars.” Afterwards, GLORYHAMMER expands upon the story behind birthplace of Zargothrax, where the battle hardened “Warriors of Auchtermuchty” swear their allegiance to their emperor with an inescapably catchy sing-along chorus. Elsewhere in space, majestic melodies echo through the derelict halls of an abandoned spaceship, as Angus is guided to an unexpected long-lost ally, taking him one step closer to the ultimate goal of “Pax Galactica.” Electronic soundscapes lead into energetic “Demonic Devotion” which has the song’s protagonist, long trapped in his own mind, trying to reconcile with the destruction in his wake while “Hammer of Fate” sets the scene for what’s to come, but is it the fate we have all come to expect? The story concludes with the bombastic monolith of “The Celestial Warhost of the Dundonian Empire Marches to Space Against the Dark Sorcerer: Final Assault on Battlemoon X-22,” an epic nearing 13 minutes of playtime, split into four ever-so-theatrical chapters. As previously seen with GLORYHAMMER, the narration is expanded through voice lines of a host of legendary characters, as they engage in mortal battle to change the fate of the galaxy…
SKÁLD: French Folk Band Releases Second Single, “Himinbjǫrg”
New Album, Ørlǫg, Will Be Released September 25, 2026 via Napalm Records
French ritualists SKÁLD lift the veil to reveal another glimpse into our ancient destiny. “Himinbjǫrg”, the second single off of their upcoming album, Ørlǫg (coming September 25, 2026 via Napalm Records), reaches far out to the edge of Asgard, realm of the Gods. At the eponymous castle in the sky, Heimdall keeps watch for invaders at the rainbow bridge, Bifröst. SKÁLD lend Asgard’s guardian an assertive voice, letting the song serve as an emphatic yet reassuring guide through our sometimes-clouded destiny. The drum-driven song extends the folk musicians’ invitation to step into ancient times and dance among reawakened spirits.
SKÁLD about “Himinbjǫrg”:
“‘Himinbjǫrg’ invites us to step onto the threshold, to the gateway at the edge of the sky, to face the guardian’s gaze—are we ready to be judged as we reach the end of the bridge? These cliffs in the sky are a mirror of our actions, our ambitions, our Ørlǫg; it is a long journey toward something greater—let us ride on without fear.”
Watch the Official Music Video for “Himinbjǫrg” https://youtu.be/jYI8crJCZbI
Ancient spirits come alive as SKÁLD extend an invitation into times long gone but not forgotten. Ørlǫg, coming September 25, 2026, is their first album via Napalm Records, and it is our destiny. As the Norns weave our future, this album is a fascinating passageway into our pristine origins and the consequences of our choices. Ten new songs as stepping stones, Ørlǫg is an offering to listen, to dwell, to reflect—and to find something within yourself previously unknown. SKÁLD don’t just play music, they awaken ancient ways.
A staple band in the neofolk genre, SKÁLD deliver a striking work of art with their latest album, deferentially using their sources to keep old spirits alive and form the enchanting world of Ørlǫg. The language might sound unfamiliar, but the music still touches the soul.
SKÁLD about Ørlǫg: “Ørlǫg is the cosmic web that influences the world and every person. Part of our Ørlǫg is determined by our birth, our past actions, and our upbringing, but Ørlǫg is not set in stone; our daily choices are constantly shaping it. What we do now and what we have done in the past determines what will happen to us in the future; we cannot escape the consequences of our actions. This album makes us question our choices—both individual and collective—and the patterns we accept or reject. The Norns weave our destiny, but we can take control of certain things: travel, ride worlds, and grow. Each song on this album describes a situation, a place, a choice to be made. Let’s take hold of our Ørlǫg.”

The atmospheric journey to claim direction starts within the dreamscapes of “Draumakona”, an expressive look at the female side of shamanic prophecy. The French band constructs their Nordic folk melodies to be particularly catchy, shifting powerfully between female lead singing and multilayered vocal arrangements to create an antiphony between individuum and community. Inspired by Skaldic poetry, SKÁLD use instruments fitting of the time: Ørlǫg is shaped by Nordic fiddles, different forms of harps and lyres, horns, kannels, and whistles, among others, as well as three lead vocalists to bring the arrangements to life. “Myrkviðr” picks up on the opening track’s persuasive energy, with male vocals taking the lead this time. Further spreading their message is “Ratatoskr”, intonated by clattering sounds and throat singing, channeled into hauntingly repetitive chants of the eponymous squirrel’s name. For “Dǫkksalir”, SKÁLD unwind their melodies to form a gentle song, sweet-talking almost like a lullaby—and therefore fitting the concept of the charming yet also frightening sirens lurking in the dark. “Útgarðr” contrasts the different voices compellingly by the passages being sung simultaneously with alternating focus and a goosebump-inducing climax—instantly opposed by “Ek skald rida” which makes use of similar techniques, but is the most tranquil track on the album. “Himinbjǫrg” reaches far out to the edge of Asgard, where Heimdall guards the rainbow bridge, Bifröst. SKÁLD lend him an assertive voice, so the song serves as an emphatic yet reassuring guide through our sometimes-clouded destiny. “Heiemo og Nykkjen”, a rendition of a traditional medieval folk ballad from what is now Norway, takes a more provident approach to both instrumentation and vocal delivery, while “Veit barnit” calls upon the knowledge of children and uses a child’s voice alongside their usual harmonies to reflect that. The grim finale, “Eldr ok iss”, Old Norse for “fire and ice”, again calls on contrasts as well as referencing part of the creation myth in which the primordial being Ymir emerged from Muspelheim—the realm of fire—colliding with icy Nilfheim in the beginning of times. SKÁLD build an appropriate arc of suspense with a formidably sinister atmosphere.

Watch the captivating live video below, and secure your copy of Live at Gothenburg Film Studios now!
Vocalist Tobias Gustavsson comments:
“‘Teenage Rebel’ is all about lost youth. About being careless. About being fearless and living every day like there’s no tomorrow. We believe that message really shines through in this live performance of the song.”

Originally formed back in 1989, NESTOR took the international rock scene by storm with their comeback and first music releases in 2021, unleashing the debut album Kids in a ghost town (earning a Swedish Hard Rock/Metal Grammis nomination!). Since then, NESTOR has entered several charts internationally (incl. #12 on Official German Album Charts and #19 in Sweden) with the critically acclaimed following album Teenage Rebel (2024) and gathered millions of streams on several of their hits. The band has won over live audiences around the world, from huge European festivals to the Monsters Of Rock Cruise in the US and headline shows in Japan, and shared stages with legends like Kiss and Europe. NESTOR now showcases their nostalgic, 80’s-inspired melodic anthems in a new light — infused with their signature, radiant live presence.

Live at Gothenburg Film Studios treats fans old and new to a hefty selection of live versions of future classics from NESTOR’s celebrated catalogue. The band brings the heat with a new rendition of their track “Firesign” (originally from Kids in a ghost town, 2021) – catchy riffs and rhythms carry the heavily ’80s-inspired, authentic sound that is topped with impressive rock vocals. Further highlights of this extensive, 16-track offering include a live rendition of one of the biggest NESTOR hits to date, “On The Run” (also from the praised debut Kids in a ghost town, 2021), featuring epic, AOR-inspired keys and guitars, and another one of the band’s possibly catchiest singalong-choruses so far.
This comprehensive live album, one format available even with a special Blu-ray, draws from NESTOR’s impressive repertoire of arena-worthy anthems and rock ballads, polished with the very best AOR and classic ’80s rock influences. Without a doubt, NESTOR continue their steady mission to restore the glory of rock!
Vocalist Tobias Gustavsson comments:
“When I listen to Live at Gothenburg Film Studios it becomes clear to me that it shows everything that NESTOR was about, from the beginning. A live performance with all the little quirks and mistakes that makes it human, a thing that I have learned to love even more in an era of AI generated music. Live at Gothenburg Film Studios is less clinical and more of a human experience in comparison to our studio albums and shows a different side of NESTOR. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did recording it up on stage.”
SHERYL CROW TO RELEASE 12TH STUDIO ALBUM PICK YOU UP ON OCTOBER 9; PRE-ORDER HERE
DROPS FIRST SINGLE “FREEDOM BUS” ALONGSIDE ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT; STREAM/DOWNLOAD HERE
Nine-time GRAMMY® AWARD winner and 2023 Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Inductee Sheryl Crow announced that she will release her 12th studio album Pick You Up on October 9, 2026. Featuring seven new songs, the album was written by Crow and long-time collaborator Jeff Trott and will be released via Old Green Barn Productions LLC. Pick You Up is available to pre-order, pre-add, and pre-save HERE.
Coinciding with today’s announcement, Crow has also released the first single from the album, “Freedom Bus” featuring Jesse Welles, which is now available on all major streaming platforms and digital retailers HERE. The track offers listeners a first glimpse at the album, highlighting the timeless songwriting, unmistakable vocals, and storytelling prowess that continue to define Crow’s artistry.
About “Freedom Bus,” Crow said, “I do not take freedom lightly because our freedom has been paid for in the lives of others throughout history and that is something I wish we could all remember when we are interacting with each other. Our dialogue and ability to disagree must reflect what has been paid for in the blood, sweat, and tears of those who fought for every man and woman to be created equal and to enjoy the rights that our constitution has allowed each of us.”
“Freedom Bus” lays the foundation for the album, reflecting on the freedoms we have and asking how we can connect peacefully and thrive despite our differences and the political challenges we face. It encourages thoughtful use of those freedoms, reminding us that our words should build understanding rather than become weapons.
The forthcoming album delves into personal reflection while returning to the AAA/Rock/Singer-Songwriter/Americana sound that made so many people fall in love with Sheryl in the ‘90s. Exploring themes of hope and unity, the album showcases the honest songwriting and authenticity that have shaped Crow’s career.
“Each of these songs are a commentary on being human and wanting connection,” Crow said. “There is a lot of chaos all around us and I definitely find myself feeling alone. My wish is that whoever hears these songs feels the hope I feel when I sing them! I hope these songs feel like a soothing moisturizer on our chapped hearts. We are all going through so much in our humanity right now that being awake can feel like trudging through a burning desert. But we are never alone. And there is beauty everywhere. We just have to keep our eyes open.”
The Pick You Up album artwork features “The Elephant Who Forgot The Ocean” by acclaimed artist Tyson Grumm, whose surreal, imaginative paintings create a nostalgic world where each image tells a story that is only partially told, allowing viewers to bring their own perspective to complete the work. A longtime collector of Grumm’s work, Crow first discovered his paintings nearly 20 years ago and has long been drawn to their sense of wonder, playfulness and underlying melancholy. When she recently saw “The Elephant Who Forgot The Ocean” at an auction, she knew it was the image she wanted for Pick You Up. She reached out to Grumm, who agreed to let her use the piece as the album artwork, and she ultimately purchased the original, which now hangs in her home.
ABOUT SHERYL CROW Songwriter. Activist. Rock star. Woman. Champion. Mother. Nine-time Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sheryl Crow is many things, but at the core, she remains a creative spirit channeling her talents into music that lifts people up, brings them together, and speaks to the truths on the horizon. More than thirty years after after winning her first Grammy, as well as Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “All I Wanna Do,” the Kennett, Missouri-born guitarist/vocalist/creative thought about all she’d done, the places she’d been, the lives that’d touched hers – and saw the rich tapestry her journey had become. Crow’s is a career beyond dreams, with songs that defined the third wave of feminism, a rockist’s ability to sweep the pop charts without losing any edge and enough wide-open Midwestern joy to captivate the world. Crow was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. She has sold over 50 million albums worldwide, with seven albums charting in the Top 10, and five certified for Multi-Platinum sales. Crow has been feted by a new generation of singer-songwriters who have covered her songs and talked about her influence, including Phoebe Bridgers, H.E.R, Haim, Maren Morris, Lorde, Sasami, Best Coast, and Brandi Carlile. In 2022, the full-length documentary film based on Crow’s life and career, entitled Sheryl, premiered to critical acclaim at the SXSW Film Festival ahead of its network premiere on SHOWTIME. An intimate story of song and sacrifice, Sheryl navigates an iconic yet arduous musical career while the artist battles sexism, ageism, depression, cancer, and the price of fame, before harnessing the power of her gift. Crow released her 11th full-length studio album, Evolution, on March 29, 2024. She is now preparing to release her highly anticipated 12th studio album Pick You Up, due out October 9, 2026, continuing her legacy as one of music’s most enduring and influential voices
‘LONESOME WOLF’ – PINKY BEECROFT’S FIRST NEW ALBUM IN SEVENTEEN YEARS IS OUT NOW.
NATIONAL ALBUM LAUNCH TOUR AUGUST/SEPTEMBER.
After a seventeen-year recording hiatus, Pinky Beecroft returns with Lonesome Wolf, a new album recorded and produced in Melbourne by Damian Cafarella (The Pleasures, The White Russians). Listen here.
Blending soul & twang, Lonesome Wolf features Pinky on vocals, piano, Rhodes, and Mellotron, alongside multi-instrumentalist Cafarella, who contributes guitars, bass, banjo, drums, percussion, mellotron, and more.
The album includes the singles “Band Of Gold”, featuring Queenie, and ‘I’ll Be Alright’, alongside Pinky’s take of the Ben Salter-penned “My Heart Is In The Wrong Place”.
Also featured on the record is a new version of the MGF hit, “Unsent Letter” (with Gabrielle Parker on backups), as well as a distinctive cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses”, again featuring Queenie.
Of the album, Pinky says: “There is a definite sound to this record. A fairly consistent sound palette across the whole album. Everything is played live, in one room, two people. It’s an intimate kind of sound. The drums are restrained, there’s baritone guitar, banjo, piano, some Rhodes, some Mellotron. It’s understated. We tried really hard to put things only where they might be needed. We wanted it to have some space to breathe. This is not a big, in-your-face pop record — it’s a million miles away from that. It’s more like a late-night record. Or perhaps a lazy, sunny afternoon album.”
“The obvious question is…. why? That’s the question I ask myself, a lot. And why now? Well, because I just made a record that I love. It doesn’t happen very often to me – that things work out exactly the way I want, that the feel is right, the songs sound the way I imagined. This one feels very different — it’s the record I’ve wanted to make, for a long time.”
Lonesome Wolf is out now on Bandcamp (available on limited-edition Vinyl) and on all streaming platforms.

NEW ALBUM HAPPIER NOW ARRIVES SEPTEMBER 4 VIA FEARLESS RECORDS
Southern California’s post-hardcore stalwarts MOVEMENTS will unleash their fourth album Happier Now on September 4 via Fearless Records. Pre-order it here.
In the lead up, they are sharing another new song, this time in the form of Live By the Sword.
Listen to Live By The Sword here and watch the visualizer below:
Live by the Sword is a sonically frantic exercise, with hushed vocal chants and guitar-forward motion. The song’s thrust is powered by the mid-tempo tension that has become such a definitive hallmark of Movements’ sound. It clangs, it clatters, and it’s everything that fans of the band and this genre know and love about Movements.
Movements will embark on a U.S. headline tour in October, with support from Balance and Composure, Midrift, and NIIS. Most recently, Movements toured Australia nationally supporting Pierce The Veil on their sold out arena run.

About Movements:
Movements are proud to announce their fourth full-length album for Fearless Records, Happier Now, with GRAMMY-winner Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight, Circa Survive) once again serving as producer. The result is an album that’s as expansive as it is emotional and takes Movements’ signature sound to a heightened level that further establishes the band as scene statesmen.
“I think at first we weren’t really sure what the record was going to be,” vocalist Patrick Miranda admits. “We all had a general idea: We wanted it to bring in the early elements of our sound and blend it with the newer material like [2023’s] RUCKUS! and mesh both of those sounds.” Two of the songs that came from that initial session were the album’s first two singles: The instantly infectious anthem Dissolve Me and moody meditation Back In My Ways, which collectively acted as sonic north stars to guide the band through the recording process.
In many ways, Happier Now is a full circle moment for Movements, who are once again performing on the Warped Tour this summer and slowly becoming veterans of the community that inspired them growing up. The struggle never sounded so sweet.
CAVETOWN RELEASES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO, ‘BIG STRONG MAN’
Single out now via Futures Music Group
Cavetown releases new single ‘Big Strong Man’ a deeply personal track exploring the confusing expectations of teenage masculinity, queer identity and the experience of being loved for a version of yourself that doesn’t feel true.
Written from a similar period in Robin Skinner’s life as beloved fan favourite ‘Boys Will Be Bugs’,’Big Strong Man’ finds Cavetown looking back at adolescence and the pressure to fit into a version of masculinity that never felt like his own. With the vulnerability and emotional honesty that have become hallmarks of Cavetown’s music, the song puts words to the complicated feeling of being accepted by those around you while knowing that the person they see isn’t really you.
Skinner shares:
“Big Strong Man – based on a similar time in my life as Boys will be Bugs – is about my struggles with the confusing world of teenage masculinity as a young queer person, and how it sucks to feel loved for a version of yourself that isn’t true.”
‘Big Strong Man’ follows the release of Cavetown’s latest album Running With Scissors, which showcases Skinner’s signature blend of bedroom pop intimacy, pop-punk energy and emotionally resonant songwriting. Featuring singles including ‘Rainbow Gal’, ‘Baby Spoon’, ‘NPC’, and ‘Tarmac’, Running With Scissors expands Cavetown’s sonic world while staying rooted in the honesty and vulnerability that has earned him a global fanbase spanning billions of streams and multiple RIAA Platinum certifications.

SHOCK CORRIDOR SHARES SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM
‘SHOCK CORRIDOR’, FEATURING FOCUS TRACK “ALARM BELL”
LISTEN TO ‘SHOCK CORRIDOR’ HERE <
Following support from BBC Radio 6, Metal Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, PBS, Triple R, 4ZZZ and FBi Radio, Naarm/Melbourne six-piece Shock Corridor unveil their long-awaited self-titled debut album, Shock Corridor. Recorded over seven days at Soundpark Studios with producer Dan Luscombe (The Drones, Amyl and the Sniffers, Courtney Barnett, Floodlights) and mixed by Aaron Cupples (Spiritualized, Tropical Fuck Storm, Kirin J Callinan), the nine-track record expands the band’s immersive world of dark-wave, trip-hop, post-punk and alternative rock into their most substantial and fully realised work to date.
Featuring previously released singles “Buster”, “Sheet Metal”, “Spit Take” and “Ambulance!”, alongside five new recordings, Shock Corridor balances towering walls of distortion with moments of startling restraint. Across the album, melancholic violin, fractured guitars, trumpet, analogue textures and downtempo grooves create vast cinematic soundscapes that explore emotional vulnerability, existential uncertainty and the fragile hope found in human connection. It is a record that embraces both intensity and silence, allowing space to breathe before plunging back into chaos.
“We are over the moon to have finally got things in order to make something that we feel is properly substantial and indicative of what we are as a group. Our first album means a lot to us after playing music together for the greater part of six years. Every song has grown alongside us, taking on new forms as we’ve evolved both individually and together.
There’s a central thread throughout the record that revolves around our reliance on other people. Whether those connections are scarce or abundant, they’re impossible to ignore, and that became the emotional backbone of the album. Sonically, we wanted to create space to breathe amidst all the noise. While our recent releases were relentless and high-octane, this record embraces quieter moments just as much as its heavier ones, because those moments of reflection are where genuine human connection feels most present.
Alarm Bell is a song we’ve been sitting with for around three years. We kept returning to its heartbeat but never felt ready to fully commit until we began making the album. It became a song about inevitable collapse, and the way that knowledge changes the people closest to you. We remember reading an article while recording where a climatologist suggested we’d moved beyond fixing things, and instead had to rely on our immediate communities to make the best of where we’ve arrived. That idea shaped Alarm Bell and, in many ways, the entire record. We wanted it to build endlessly toward something unresolved, reflecting a world that rarely offers easy answers.
All of this culminates in our debut record, which we wanted to remain self-titled because it represents who we are and what we have to offer.
All in all though, we just really hope you like it.” – Shock Corridor
At the heart of the album sits focus track “Alarm Bell”, a slow-burning centrepiece that the band spent almost three years shaping before finally bringing it to life in the studio. Beginning with hypnotic rhythms before gradually unfolding into an overwhelming crescendo of guitars, electronics and orchestral textures, the track reflects on inevitable collapse and the quiet resilience found within close communities. Refusing any easy sense of resolution, “Alarm Bell” captures the emotional tension that runs throughout the album, where looming catastrophe exists alongside moments of intimacy, tenderness and hope.

YUNG GRAVY RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE AND OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR “MY B!TCH”
OUT NOW VIA BMG
FEATURING ACTOR-RAPPER SIMON REX AKA DIRT NASTY
MMA FIGHTER DANIEL RODRIGUEZ, ARI KYTSYA
COMEDIAN MORGAN JAY & MORE
Multi-platinum viral hip-hop artist, songwriter, entrepreneur, and humanitarian Yung Gravy returns with his newest single “my b!tch” his second release of 2026, and a sharp reminder of exactly what makes him one of the most singular voices in hip-hop. He recently surprised fans, hitting the stage with Canadian rapper, songwriter and longtime creative partner, bbno$, as a surprise guest at Lollapalooza 2026 in Chicago on August 1st.
Built on a ruthless, unrelenting bassline that carries the track from start to finish, “my b!tch” is Gravy at his most uninhibited, opening with a glistening flourish of jazz piano before descending into full funk-infused trap raunch, a flex record wrapped in hilariously untroubled punchlines that land as hard as the production beneath them. Midway through, the song interrupts itself for a moment of instrumental slapstick, showing Gravy’s comfort with breaking rules to fully embrace the sense of humor, which brought him into the spotlight.
“‘my b!tch’ is all about how badass women are. It’s inspired by an absolute banger of a song and I made a hype video with the OGs in a boxing gym that I felt showed how tough and resilient women are. This bout to be knockout baby,” commented Gravy.
Yung Gravy – my b!tch (Official Music Video)
The accompanying video, set in a dimly lit boxing gym, turns these musical “punchlines” into real punches. Starring MMA Fighter Daniel Rodriguez and actor Simon Rex as the boxing coaches, Gravy’s girlfriend, viral internet personality Ari Kytsya, alongside other viral social media influencers, the cast appears as boxers gloved up and working out at the gym. What begins as a montage of weight training and punching bag shots gradually shifts in tone, showcasing strong women in charge, and building alongside Gravy’s performance of “my b!tch”, before culminating in a final showdown.
“my b!tch” arrives on the heels of his first 2026 single “HBO” which peaked at #5 on the Official Charts and arrived alongside a cinematic short film-style music video drawing from cult classic horror films. Earlier this summer, Gravy collaborated with MUG® Root Beer on “Float Float Baby” a parody remix of the iconic ’90s hit “Ice Ice Baby” to celebrate the nationwide launch of MUG Root Beer Floats Vanilla Howler™, a campaign that crossed music, humor, and brand culture in classic Gravy fashion. He has also been a fixture on the cultural circuit, attending the Men’s Paris Fashion Week in June and appearing at Sports Illustrated’s Beyond the Pitch in Los Angeles.
Building on 10 gold and 4 platinum records, 7+ billion streams, and a live track record that includes more than 10 sold-out tours across North America, Europe and Australia, Gravy’s pull here is no accident – Sydney and Brisbane both sit inside his top five cities for monthly listeners on Spotify. That’s backed by support from triple j, the Hit Network, KIIS and CADA, and nods from The Music, Rolling Stone Australia, Tone Deaf, Life Without Andy and Pedestrian TV. “my b!tch” signals that for Yung Gravy, the party is very much still going.

ABOUT YUNG GRAVY:
Only the best things get better with age–wine, cheddar, 401ks, the list goes on. It turns out Yung Gravy gets better with age too. When you think about it, the name Yung Gravy says a great deal. It’s perpetually youthful, and it oozes “sauce.” As such, Yung Gravy uses his own special recipe to bring originality and positivity to make his one-of-a-kind impact on the genre. Gravy flexes his passion for soul music and oldies in his production, sampling a wide range of musical styles dating from the 1940’s to the present-day. Nostalgic and often-jubilant melodies paired with heavy trap drums form the usual canvas for his signature baritone voice-reminiscent of Barry White. Showcasing effortless flows and endlessly quotable lyrics, Yung Gravy paints something truly unique while clearly having a good time doing so. In the span of six short years, Gravy has transformed from Soundcloud stalwart to platinum powerhouse. To date, his accolades include four platinum and five gold singles as well as 10 sold out tours across North America, Europe, and Australia. He has collaborated with his self-proclaimed musical heroes, including Lil Wayne, Chief Keef, Juicy J, T-Pain, and the late Young Dolph. Gravy became the soundtrack, and unofficial second mascot, of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and was given an honorary Stanley Cup Ring. He starred in a worldwide commercial campaign with Martha Stewart, and weeks later performed for the VMAs and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Not to mention, he partnered with Audible, Venmo, Samsung and Jimmy John’s for campaigns. Tallying 6 billion streams and selling 5 million units thus far, he’s notched four entries on the Billboard 200, two in the Top 30 of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, and two on the Top 20 of the Top Album Sales Chart. For all of the swagger and style he exhibited upon his arrival, he managed to become even smoother since his introduction in 2016. After streams in the billions, packed venues, and “side missions” with Martha Stewart, he decided to lock himself in the studio and load up a plethora of certifiably saucy bangers lined up for release.
MASTODON SHARE IN THE RUINS AHEAD OF FIRST NEW ALBUM IN FIVE YEARS
MARROW DEEP OUT AUGUST 28 FROM LOMA VISTA RECORDINGS
PRE-SAVE/PRE-ORDER NOW
WATCH IN THE RUINS VIDEO HERE
Mastodon have just shared In The Ruins, a song from their highly anticipated new album Marrow Deep (out August 28 via Loma Vista Recordings) inspired by the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene and the personal havoc it wreaked upon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders and his family. The catastrophic storm severely flooded their home and destroyed personal belongings, leading to a nearly two year period of displacement that coincided with the whole band navigating the profound grief of the passings of founding member Brent Hinds and drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor’s mother Michele Lawrence, ultimately channeling the loss into a powerful declaration of resilience and catharsis. The song comes paired with a vibrant video by animation and VFX studio, Hey Beautiful Jerk, that depicts a fever dream journey by a single-eyed creature named Frank across flooded and ruined landscapes that serves as a metaphor for the song’s lyrics.
Speaking on the video, Hey Beautiful Jerk states: “The initial inspiration for Frank and the concept for ‘In The Ruins’ came to me when I was in the ER for 10 hours with the worst eye infection of my life. The pain was so bad it felt like my eye was revolting and wanted to escape my head. I had just talked to Brann about the meaning of the song and how it was inspired by his and Troy’s recent losses. The expression ‘picking up the pieces’ came to me and I sketched a very rough version of Frank on my phone, capturing the idea as fast as I could before my eye wanted to escape my face once again.”
Marrow Deep documents founding members Brann Dailor, Troy Sanders, and Bill Kelliher emerging from years of personal upheaval and grief with a renewed sense of purpose and reinvigoration, resulting in some of the most expansive, adventurous, and emotionally resonant music of their storied career. The album marks the band’s first full-length to feature guitarist Nick Johnston alongside significant contributions from keyboardist João Nogueira. The latest single arrives in the wake of previous singles Snakes For Dinner, an emotionally charged epic featuring Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, and Your Ghost Again, which quickly emerged as an immediate fan favorite on their recent European tour and was ranked #2 on a Revolver reader’s poll of best songs of 2026 so far.
In addition to Josh Homme, the album features a sprawling list of guest performers. Neil Fallon of Clutch lends spoken word to The Three Fates. A Vampire’s Demeanor has guest gang vocals from Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe and Converge bassist Nate Newton. Album opener Barbarians Blood features percussion from Converge drummer Ben Koller. And none other than Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler plays the intro on The Vanishing, which also includes guest vocals from Joe Duplantier of Gojira. The growing anticipation for the album has driven a sell out of the deluxe edition of the vinyl, with limited quantities of the standard edition still available here.
The band will celebrate the release with the upcoming The Poisonous Weapons Tour, a nationwide run of dates in North America with support from Deafheaven and Alcest. Kicking off September 16 in Orlando, the trio of bands will cut their way across the full country before closing out October 24 at Sick New World Dallas.

About Mastodon: GRAMMY® Award-winning band Mastodon have quietly evolved into one of the most influential, inimitable, and iconic rock bands of the modern era. Since emerging in 2000, the Atlanta quartet have defied both sonic and thematic boundaries with an uncategorizable, undeniable, and uncompromising vision unlike anything else in music. This vision manifested over the course of canonical albums such as Leviathan, which landed on Rolling Stone’s coveted The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. Following the seminal Crack The Skye [named one of the best albums of 2009 by Time], they earned three consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with The Hunter [2011], Once More ‘Round the Sun [2014], and Emperor of Sand [2017]. Out of six career nominations, they received a GRAMMY® Award in the category of “Best Metal Performance” for Sultan’s Curse. They are the rare creative force whose music can be felt everywhere from Game of Thrones, Adult Swim, The History Channel, and DC comics films to Coachella and Bonnaroo. They notably supported the Hirschberg Foundation For Pancreatic Cancer Research with a rendition of Stairway To Heaven in honor of late manager Nick John. The group reached another critical high watermark via their ninth full-length, Hushed and Grim. Featuring the GRAMMY® Award-nominated Pushing The Tides, it marked the band’s third straight #1 bow on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums Chart. It concluded 2021 on over a dozen year-end lists with Rolling Stone raving, “we get everything from some of the band’s hookiest rockers to date to some of their most awe-inspiring epics.” Evolving as they usher rock into new realms, they forever remain the same unpredictable trailblazing beast—Mastodon.

HOLLY THROSBY RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘MISSING YOU’
NEW RECORD NORMAL MAGIC OUT 4 SEPTEMBER
EAST COAST TOUR IN OCT/NOV
Holly Throsby is back with ‘Missing You‘, the latest taste of her upcoming sixth studio album, Normal Magic, out 4 September. The track follows previous singles ‘Tell Me I’m Done’, ‘Gallery’, and ‘Hold Please’(feat. Laura Jean) and comes as she gears up for her East Coast tour set for October and November.
Of the single Holly says; “’Missing You’ is a song I wrote on a Tuesday and recorded on the Friday. It came together with a frenetic energy. And it’s appropriately in 6/8, a time signature that feels like you’re trying to run forward while someone is holding on to the back of your shirt. I wanted it to feel kind of desperate, in a beautiful way.”
Normal Magic marks a new direction for Throsby: a self-produced ten-song record, synth-heavy, with programmed beats, electric guitars, saxophone, and banjo. This is a far more electronic and mesmeric sound, but the songs remain finely crafted: lyrically ambitious; playful and hypnotic.
Throsby sought out a new group of collaborators for this album, including multi-instrumentalist Jordan Ireland (The Middle East), Helen Franzmann (Mess Esque, McKisko), Laura Jean, Oliver Mestitz (The Finks) and Jake Core (Soda Eaves). Recordings were made in various homes, with the bulk engineered at Stranded Studios in Bellambi (Babitha, Body Type). The record was mixed in Provence, France, by Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, The Drones, Julia Jacklin).
Of Normal Magic, Holly says: “The concept for this record stemmed from a conversation about what is normal and what is magic. Art making, for example, is quite magical and quite normal at the same time, and the concept expanded as the songs were written to be a kind of a celebration of the magic of normal life – little moments of beauty and wonder which can be so sustaining. A sunbeam or a bird or a moment of synchrony.”
Nine years have passed since the release of Throsby’s last album After A Time. Since then, she has released two novels (Cedar Valley and Clarke) and spent many seasons on the South Coast, developing a new sonic palette for her upcoming album. Normal Magic is the result, coming on vinyl, CD and digital on 4 September via Hobbledehoy Records.
Holly Throsby is one of Australia’s most beloved and enduring songwriters. Her debut album arrived in the 2004, establishing her as a singular folk voice with a remarkable gift for lyrical detail. Four acclaimed solo albums followed, an album of original children’s songs, and her work as one third of the band, Seeker Lover Keeper. Together, Holly Throsby and Seeker Lover Keeper have amassed over 70 million combined streams. Holly has been nominated for five ARIAs – including two for Best Female Artist. She is also an acclaimed novelist, with three books published by Allen & Unwin selling over 40,000 copies, and a fourth expected in 2027.

LØLØ SHARES INTROSPECTIVE NEW SINGLE, pretty little wreck
STREAM HERE + WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO HERE
PERFORMING THIS DECEMBER AT GOOD THINGS FESTIVAL
Acclaimed pop-rock songstress LØLØ shares her new single, pretty little wreck, an introspective track that embraces emotional honesty and life’s messiness. With upbeat swings and lively guitar riffs, the song has an infectious spirit straight from the early aughts. The offering follows the release of the artist’s sophomore album, god forbid a girl spits out her feelings! (April 2026 via Fearless Records), which received widespread praise upon release and saw LØLØ debut on the Billboard Canada Airway charts with standout single, the punisher. Fans can stream/download pretty little wreck HERE, and the companion music video is available HERE
“I used to spend so much time trying to hide the messiest parts of myself, but lately I realized those parts are the most interesting. I wrote ‘pretty little wreck’ when I decided to embrace the chaos instead of apologizing for it. After all, there’s nothing wrong with being the girl who’s falling apart. Life becomes a lot more interesting when you stop pretending that you’ve got everything figured out, and I hope this song gives my fans inspiration to lean into that.” said LØLØ.
Following her European/UK tour earlier this year, LØLØ will be touring in celebration of the new LP on the North American leg of “god forbid a girl goes on tour!” Commencing September 17 with a hometown show in Toronto’s Opera House, the massive run will bring her diaristic, no-holds-barred live show to major cities across the U.S. and Canada, before wrapping October 26 at Boston’s Brighton Music Hall. The New York stop at Bowery Ballroom is already sold out. LØLØ will be joining forces with frequent collaborators Simple Plan later this year once again, providing direct support for the group’s arena and stadium run across Asia before heading to Australia in December for the Good Things Festival.
Just ahead of the headline run, LØLØ will be returning to Warped Tour for her fourth stop on this year’s continent-wide run, hitting Mexico City (9/12-13). She recently played the revered festival’s Canadian debut in Montreal and annual stop in Long Beach, where in addition to her own solo set, she made special guest appearances during both Simple Plan’s headlining performance and All Time Low’s set. She also recently teamed up with the Plain White T’s on their reimagined version of the iconic hit Hey There Delilah, continuing to expand her footprint across the pop-punk community.
With over 200M+ global streams, collaborations with Simple Plan and Maggie Lindemann, and performances at Lollapalooza, Sad Summer, Slam Dunk, Download, Rock Am Ring, and multiple Warped Tours, LØLØ continues to solidify her place as one of the most compelling voices in modern pop-rock.

CROSSBONE SKULLY Storm Into New Era With “Thunder Love Featuring Phil Collen”
Ahead Of Upcoming Album “Condemned To Rock N’ Roll”
Crossbone Skully ignite the skies with their brand new single “Thunder Love” featuring Def Leppard’s Phil Collen.
Capturing a thunder-shaking midnight encounter between two sinners, the song is a shot of lightning and lust fuelled chemistry, delivering the first strike from their upcoming sophomore album, “Condemned to Rock n’ Roll” via earMUSIC.
Fronted by Tommy Henriksen (Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires), Crossbone Skully are a gritty hard rock band, featuring fellow Alice Cooper guitarist Anna “Blackthorn” Cara and a revolving cast of Rock n’ Roll Misfits. By teaming up with Phil Collen and legendary producer Mutt Lange, Henriksen has crafted the perfect storm on “Thunder Love”. The track also features powerhouse studio drumming from Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires), whose thunderous performance helps drive the song’s explosive energy.
With Collen saying: “It’s great to be singing with Mutt again. It’s a vocal blend we’ve shared for many years, and having Tommy’s voice in the mix adds another dimension. ‘Thunder Love’ is pure fun rock n’ roll – loud, thunderous guitars, huge drum sounds, and punchy vocals.
Tommy’s got a powerful rock voice, but what really stands out is how versatile he is. He can shape his voice to fit whatever a song needs, and that’s a rare gift. He brings incredible energy to everything he does, which makes him so easy to collaborate with. He and Mutt share the same philosophy: it’s all about the vibe. When you get that right, everything else falls into place, and I think that’s a big part of what makes Crossbone Skully unique.”
LISTEN TO THE NEW SINGLE https://crossboneskully.lnk.to/ThunderLove
Having Phil Collen come in to play and sing on this track was the icing on the cake for Henriksen, who said “Phil is one of my heroes as a guitarist, singer and songwriter so to bring Phil and Mutt together again for the track ‘Thunder Love’ was a really special moment for me, their generosity and influence made this dream a reality. Making records with Mutt Lange has been the greatest lesson of my life – I have infinite respect and love for Mutt. I can never thank him enough for his belief, generosity, and friendship. I’ll carry it with me forever.”
Collen also stepped in front of the cameras for Crossbone Skully’s latest video shoot. Joining Tommy and Anna on set were bassist Jennie Vee (Courtney Love, Eagles of Death Metal) and returning drummer Tuesdai, forming a powerhouse lineup that helped bring the band’s cinematic vision to life. Reflecting on the experience, Phil said: “Crossbone Skully are bringing back the sound and spirit of classic rock. You just don’t see many videos like this anymore – it’s becoming a lost art, and being part of something that celebrates that has been a lot of fun.”

With the release of “Thunder Love featuring Phil Collen”, Crossbone Skully also mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter with earMUSIC. As the first taste of the forthcoming album “Condemned to Rock n’ Roll”, the single sets the tone for a record that captures the pure essence of Rock n’ Roll in all its raw power, energy and attitude.
More details will be revealed soon.

GRAVEYARD Release Stomping New Single ‘A Means To An End’
Pre-Order New Album FEVER STARTS Now.
One of the most distinctive and revered forces in modern rock music, Sweden’s very own GRAVEYARD are back with a brand new single, ‘A Means To An End’, the first glimpse at their highly anticipated 7th studio album Fever, which will be released on October 9th, 2026 worldwide on Nuclear Blast Records.
Arriving three years after the gloomier, introverted Six, GRAVEYARD are literally turning up the heat by delivering a sonic experience that is drenched in fuzz and distortion, sporting massive Sabbath-ian grooves on opener ‘Back From The Grave’, CCR fuelled grandeur on ‘Time To Tell’ and straight-forward, hard hitting rock on ‘Room Tempered’, ‘Tongue Tied’ and ‘Means To An End’. Formed in 2006, the band collectively emphasizes the fierce spirit of the album.
With Fever, the band returns to the forefront of the scene with a noticeably heavier, more direct sound. They’ve entrusted the mixing duties to Pelle Gunnerfeldt who is widely renowned for capturing the ferocious energy of bands such as The Hives, Refused, and recently Viagra Boys whereas mastering was handled by Robin Schmidt at 24-96 Mastering. Amidst its sheer drive, GRAVEYARD retained the undeniable, blues-soaked soul that originally defined their breakthrough album, Hisingen Blues, on slower songs like album closer ‘Dead Note’ yet with a good dose of fiery anger.
After the fairly subtle, mysterious art on Six, GRAVEYARD went for a striking visual approach on Fever relying on acclaimed Dutch artist Maarten Donders who cooperated with the band on their Split 7” with Goat, and whose work has been prominently showcased at cult festival Roadburn, featuring designs for more than 50 artists, ranging from Acid King to legendary Frank Zappa.
With two number-one albums in Sweden already to their name, GRAVEYARD will initiate the touring cycle with a co-headline run through Scandinavia with Blues Pills to properly celebrate the release of Fever, followed by Europe/UK wide touring and festivals in 2027.
Brace for impact, GRAVEYARD came back from the grave and they caught a Fever.

THE TULLAMARINES Return With Powerful New Single “Flight Path” Following a Breakout Year of Global Success
The Tullamarines return with their powerful new single “Flight Path”, the first taste of an exciting new chapter from one of Australia’s fastest rising indie bands. Honest, vulnerable and emotionally charged, the track sees the Adelaide four piece dive deep into the quiet battles that often go unseen, transforming creative burnout, self doubt and the overwhelming desire to retreat from the world into one of their most affecting releases to date.
Marking a bold step forward, “Flight Path” showcases a band continuing to evolve while remaining grounded in the raw emotional honesty that has become their signature. Balancing shimmering indie pop melodies with deeply personal lyricism, the single captures the internal noise of growing older, losing confidence and searching for clarity when life begins to feel overwhelming.
“Flight Path” explores the quiet battles that often go unseen, navigating creative burnout, self doubt and the overwhelming desire to retreat when life begins to feel too heavy. Balancing shimmering indie melodies with emotional vulnerability, the single captures the internal noise that accompanies growing older and searching for clarity, delivering one of the band’s most personal and affecting releases to date.
“Flight Path is first and foremost about writer’s block, but it’s framed in a few different ways. It’s actually the product of two very different demos that were merged in an effort to relieve a particularly long stretch of non-writing. This song is about so many things; losing confidence as you grow up, wanting to go home and hide from the world, struggling to be honest. It’s a very troubling mosaic of thoughts and feelings that bubble away in the background of life, coming to the surface all at once.”
Fresh off a landmark twelve months, The Tullamarines have rapidly emerged as one of Australia’s most exciting indie exports. Following the release of their acclaimed sophomore EP Safety Blanket, the band has taken their high energy live show across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States, performing at SXSW, The Great Escape, Dot To Dot, Immergut Festival, Hyperfest and A Day In The Gully. They also joined The Lottery Winners on tour across the UK, completed their own UK headline run and recently returned home supporting The Jungle Giants throughout Australia and New Zealand.
The momentum has extended well beyond the stage. “Running On Empty” received full triple j rotation, became triple j’s most played track and landed at #91 in the 2026 triple j Hottest 100, while “Idiot” also secured full triple j rotation and was featured in EA’s Skate. The band reached another career milestone with their triple j Like A Version debut in June, while Safety Blanket earned a nomination for Best Independent Pop EP or Album at the 2026 AIR Awards. Their growing audience has also been fuelled by editorial support across Spotify’s Fresh Finds AU & NZ, New Music Friday AU & NZ, Turn Up Aus and Indie Arrivals, alongside Apple Music’s Amped Up and Good Times.
With booking representation now spanning the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States and Canada, and a rapidly growing international audience, The Tullamarines continue to cement themselves as one of Australia’s most exciting live exports. “Flight Path” signals the beginning of an exciting new era ahead of the band’s national headline tour this November, with more new music set to follow.

POWERFUL MC AND PRODUCER KAYPS RELEASES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALBUM BUNUBA BABY VIA BAD APPLES MUSIC
TOURING AUGUST/SEPTEMBER
Since his debut in 2021, it was evident that a wealth of potential was always at the heart of KAYPS’ music and brand of storytelling. Now based in Perth/Boorloo, KAYPS has struck out as a leader of a new generation of rappers pushing Indigenous culture and contemporary influences into new territory.
With the release of his much anticipated album BUNUBA BABY, the listener gains new insight into the journey of one of Australian hip hop’s most exciting names – one that is still being uncovered. Featuring previous singles like ‘SHIPS’ (featuring FLEWNT and JJ VACANT) and ‘765’, the album is a poignant portrait of a young person navigating growth in their cultural and personal identity.
Showcasing KAYPS’ personal side, BUNUBA BABY speaks to his relationship with his culture; the confusion, anger and frustrations of being mixed race and coming to terms with the fact that ultimately, it’s all okay. Powerful album moments manifest across the project in songs like ‘RUN BOY RUN’, ‘BROKEN GLASS’ and ‘CROCODILES’, with KAYPS masterfully redefining his talents as a storyteller and emcee with each turn.
BUNUBA BABY has not simply been a musical endeavour for the Walmatjarri/Bunbuba artist; it has been a way to further embrace his connection to community and family, while also acknowledging some of the challenges that come with growing up distanced from culture; realising the steps that need to be taken in order to reconnect in adulthood.
“The process of creating this project was closer to a soul searching journey than anything else. When I initially put forward the idea of making this project, I knew I had wanted to do this for years prior but it felt like the perfect time to be able to take myself on that journey and really invest time into diving into my family heritage and culture.
I so clearly remember the first session we started for this project and the intro of the album “COME HOME”, which was actually the first track we made. As soon as I heard the chords laid down to establish the sonic direction of the album, I knew it was going to be the most vulnerable and personal piece of work I had ever written. Over 18-24 months later, I couldn’t be any more proud of this project. The response from my family was incredible which gave me great hope that I had done my story and my family’s story justice.”
KAYPS
Tackling the project with bold ambition and the ability to embrace being vulnerable at the same time, KAYPS presents a body of work that he can not only be proud of, but showcase as true sense of self as his profile within the music space continues to rise.
To date, his music has struck a chord with a growing fanbase around Australia, largely due to his passionate delivery, as well as notable shows supporting the likes of KNEECAP, Denzel Curry, Sudan Archives, South Summit and more. KAYPS’ signing with Bad Apples Music this year was another strong step forward for the MC and producer, further cementing his place as one to watch; ultimately providing a supportive environment for these stories heard on BUNUBA BABY to grow.
To mark the release of BUNUBA BABY, fans can see KAYPS taking the album on the road to venues in Sydney, Melbourne, Albany, Margaret River and Perth throughout August, September and November.
“I am unbelievably excited to bring this project on tour, it’s such a great opportunity to tell my stories that come from my family who live in a town that the majority of people have never heard of. It’s an opportunity for me to connect with people on a more personal level where I haven’t been able to previously. We’ve developed a set that feels so organic and homegrown, and we’re trying to convey the honesty of the project to its truest form and I’m so lucky to be joined by Calvin Bennett and Isaiah Quintana as a part of my band for this tour.” KAYPS

GEORGIA SCARLETT & JOEL SPENCE Reunite with Heartfelt Country-Folk Single ‘Honey Let’s Go’
Endless scrolling, breaking headlines, and mounting pressures have cast a weary shadow over the early 21st century, affecting our relationships with others and ourselves. Responding to this increasingly disconnected world, Queensland country artists Georgia Scarlett and Joel Spence join forces on their new collaborative single, ‘Honey Let’s Go’, out NOW
Following their previous collaboration, ‘The Wise Folks Say’, released in June, Scarlett and Spence reunite with a wealth of experience behind them. Since the release of her debut album last year, Georgia Scarlett has established herself as one of Queensland’s promising country artists, earning widespread support across radio and the Australian country music community, while Joel Spence brings more than 18 years of experience, having shared stages with Daryl Braithwaite, Jon Stevens, Spiderbait and The Angels.
Together, Scarlett and Spence channel their shared gift for heartfelt storytelling into an exploration of connection and emotion amid the distractions of modern life, encouraging listeners to reconnect with what truly matters.
Led by uplifting acoustic guitar, banjo and the hearty tones of the harmonica, ‘Honey Let’s Go’ settles into its themes with Spence’s opening lines, gently acknowledging his partner’s loss of self amongst the urban sprawl. Spence shares:
“‘Honey Let’s Go’ is a reminder that while the world constantly changes, the importance of human connection never does.”
Built around a conversation between two lovers navigating the pressures of modern life, ‘Honey Let’s Go’ unfolds through the interplay between Spence and Scarlett’s vocals. What begins as an intimate country-folk arrangement gradually expands with warm harmonies, and the full ensemble of piano, slide guitar, electric guitar, bass, and drums – mirroring the pair’s journey from uncertainty towards hope.
Speaking on the track, Scarlett shared:
“It’s a love song at its core, but really this is a song for everyone, for relationships, friendships, family, and all the ships in between. At its heart, it’s a celebration of the people we share our lives with.”
A song that exudes the heartbreak of contemporaneity and the growing singularity of the modern world, ‘Honey Let’s Go’ expresses these all-too-familiar feelings with relaxed and uplifting guitar tones and the graciously honest storytelling of Georgia Scarlett and Joel Spence.
‘Honey Let’s Go’ is out on Friday, August 14.

HARLEY Digs Deep And Finds ‘Gold’ Ahead of Debut EP
Single Out Friday, August 14 | EP Out Friday, September 18
There’s more than one way to strike gold. On his magnetic single and accompanying music video ‘Gold’ (out NOW), Meanjin/Brisbane artist Harley discovers that vulnerability, self-belief and emotional honesty are worth their weight in gold.
Serving as the third and final single from his forthcoming debut EP, due Friday, September 18, ‘Gold’ explores the feeling of finding independence and accepting the changes to come through quintessential indie-pop/rock sensibilities.
Following the release of ‘Give Me Something’ in 2024 and his most recent track ‘Tell Me You Love Me’, Brisbane indie-pop/rock artist Harley has continued to build momentum. His music has earned support from The AU Review, AAA Backstage, Aus Music Scene, The Underground Sound and more, while also reaching #10 on the AMRAP Indie/Alt Chart and #4 on the AMRAP Pop Chart.
Now, with his latest track ‘Gold’, Harley embraces letting go of repressive machismo and allowing vulnerability to settle in through a catchy, rhythmically driven indie-pop/rock sound. It’s palpable, moreish guitar tones, accompanied by a bashful drum rhythm and lush synth moments, paint a vibrant picture of action, change and empowerment, with Harley speaking on the track’s meaning:
“At its core, it’s about love, loss and trust, but ultimately it’s about independence, believing in who you are, what you create, and trusting your own instincts. No one else can tell your story.”
More broadly, ‘Gold’ serves as the final piece leading into Harley’s debut EP, a six-track collection documenting his artistic growth and willingness to embrace vulnerability. Featuring seamless transitions between songs and drawing together material written across the early stages of the project, the EP captures the confidence Harley has found in trusting his own voice. Harley says:
“This collection of music has been an absolute rush and a rollercoaster of emotions to make. It’s my debut EP, my first large body of work and I wanted it to feel special. These six tracks felt necessary to have together. They’re all quite different but also feel very connected. I wanted this EP to best convey my growth and experience as a young artist.”
An endlessly feel-good single, Harley digs deep and finds gold through his infectious indie-pop/rock. Out Friday, August 14, ‘Gold’ serves as the final preview of Harley’s debut EP, arriving Friday, September 18.

lahgo ENTER AN EXCITING NEW CHAPTER WITH STRUTTING SINGLE ‘WHAT I NEED’
Eora/Sydney-based indie-rock-pop duo lahgo return with new single, ‘What I Need’ (August 19 via MGM). Produced by Ethan Reginato (Holly Hebe, Meg Mac, Charli Lucas).
Driven by steadfast bass guitar, fuzz-laden guitar leads and lead singer Mel Bailey’s commanding and charismatic vocal delivery, ‘What I Need’ is a swaggering powerhouse of a track. The single balances raw alternative grit with polished alt-pop precision, exploring the fine line between supporting the people you love and being honest enough to help them grow.
“I wanted to capture the complex relationship I have with my sister and how difficult it can be to navigate at times,” confesses Bailey. “She’s my favourite person in the world, and someone I’ve looked up to my whole life. As inspiring and as loving as our relationship is, it’s also honest, direct and sometimes confrontational.
There’s a constant push and pull between wanting the people you love to tell you you’re doing everything right, and knowing that what you really need is for them to be honest about your flaws and the times you’ve got it wrong. I think the strongest relationships are the ones where you can support each other unconditionally while still holding each other accountable.”
Available on all streaming platforms from Wednesday, August 19, ‘What I Need’ will be accompanied by a fans-first physical release. The ‘What I Need’ CD will give fans access to an additional two unreleased tracks, unavailable anywhere other than on the band’s upcoming 10-date East Coast Tour or via a hidden online merch store which is only accessible to fans on their mailing list.
‘What I Need’ and the accompanying tracks are the first to arise out of their studio collaboration with ‘of-the-moment’ producer Ethan Reginato, which aims to combine the excitement of lahgo’s recently sold-out live shows, mixed with crisp arrangements and pop sensibilities.
“We wanted to give the fans that come to our shows access to these new recordings before anyone else,” explains lahgo. This collectible memento will be super limited and is a preview of a longer-form release due in 2027, which will be more widely available. But for now, this music is just for lahgo’s community.
Topping all this off is a 10-date East Coast Tour, including stops across New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, and two prodigious support slots with The Angels and Superjesus at Leichhardt Oval, and The Living End in Thirroul.
lahgo have proven themselves as a formidable live act, stacking up a string of sold-out Eora/Sydney headline shows and supporting some of Australia’s biggest rock and indie heavyweights, including The Terrys, DZ Deathrays, Don West, Le Shiv, and more. They’ve also frequented Australian festival line-ups, featuring on Party in the Paddock, Bonzaki Music Festival and the King Street Crawl 2026.
At the heart of lahgo’s artistry is also an ethos of community and advocacy. In May 2026, the duo created CHIXXX TO THE FRONT, an event celebrating female-fronted bands that sold out the Botany View Hotel in Eora/Sydney’s inner west. lahgo also regularly give back through their live performances, donating proceeds from select shows to the likes of The Full Stop Foundation (supporting victim-survivors of domestic violence) and the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

JULIA HOLTER Shares new song ‘Materia 2‘
Forthcoming album Materia out this Friday, August 21 on Domino
Julia Holter unveils ‘Materia 2’ – the final preview from her new album Materia, out this Friday, August 21 on Domino.
Stemming from ‘Materia’ a pivotal track on Holter’s acclaimed 2024 album Something In The Room She Moves, ‘Materia 2’ is a hallucinatory dream of drum machine, fretless bass (Devra Hoff), and clarinet (Chris Speed), with Holter’s voice spiraling through the ether alongside that of experimental vocalist and composer Jessika Kenney. Lyrically, Holter reconsiders the connection between spirit and body, love and blood, referencing and reinventing the surreal imagery first introduced in “Materia.”
Watch the visualizer for ‘Materia 2’ here
“Materia 2” follows the previously released singles ‘The Laugh Is In The Eyes‘, ‘Fantasy‘, and ‘My Lost One‘. The latter was named a Song You Need In Your Life by The FADER and described by The Needle Drop’s Anthony Fantano as a “blissfully, heavenly surreal experience.”

Materia is available to pre-order on Black vinyl with a doubled sided poster/lyric sheet, as well as CD with lyric booklet, and digitally.
More on Materia
Julia Holter always knew there were multiple forms her song ‘Materia’ could take. The tune’s dynamic, Hildegard von Bingen-inspired melody and dense modal chords stood on their own without a complex arrangement on her wondrous 2024 album Something in the Room She Moves, but she felt a lingering desire to expand the texture and stretch out the harmony. Though she could hear the potential orchestration in her head, Something was already abundant with layers of sound by the time she finished it. She stuck with the original form of ‘Materia’, then, her cresting voice and blue Wurlitzer hosting games of harmonic hide-and-seek above subtle electronics.
But on the new Materia, a kind of companion LP or sequel to Something, Holter has realised not one but two distinct versions of the song. ‘Materia 2’ is a hallucinatory dream of drum machine, fretless bass, and clarinet, Holter’s voice spiraling through the ether alongside that of Jessika Kenney. She reconsiders the lyrics, too, novel fragments of surrealistic images reinforcing the original’s link between spirit and body, between love and blood. And on ‘Materia 3’, Holter literally slows down the take from Something. (It’s intended to be experienced as a “bonus track” in an homage to the CD era of her youth.) The change not only emphasises the unpredictable glory of the harmonies within but also reiterates the song’s emotional sophistication, the sense that it’s about learning how to live.
Materia is only seven tracks long, but Holter works in nearly that many modes here. There is the slowed ‘Materia’ and the version reimagined for two voices, of course, but there are also two tracks that spooled out of the DAW project files and full band she built for Something. There are two astounding improvisations: one where she manipulates her voice so that each word seems to contain a symphony and another that is one of Materia’s most spellbinding and emotional pieces, ‘My Twin’, from which Holter lifted a riff to build the song ‘Fantasy’. These seven songs show that Holter is among her generation’s most open writers of art-pop, moving among ideas and idioms with exploratory aplomb. Materia is a kind of playground for Holter, where each distinct scene steadily coheres into a moving whole.
Keen observers will recognise ‘The Laugh Is in the Eyes’, released as a single in 2024 as Holter toured Something. Indeed, the band from that record—Elizabeth Goodfellow (drums), Devra Hoff (fretless bass), Maia (flute), Chris Speed (saxophone and clarinet), Tashi Wada (synthesisers), and Kenny Gilmore (co-production, engineering, mixing)—reappears here, as does Holter’s sumptuous imagery: mountains in blue skies, bunches of wildflowers, flutes at play. “I need to learn to make the sweetness stay,” Holter sings over a fascinating rhythm that always seems on the verge of tumbling over itself. That romantic glow also courses through ‘Fantasy’, one of the most compulsive and engrossing songs Holter has ever recorded. For two minutes, she seems to stare from a window, daydreaming about all the goodness that can be. And in the chorus, she is ushered forward by Goodfellow’s drums taking over where the drum machine left, the rhythms and the textures bursting all around like summertime fireworks. But this dream that seems to arrive is yet framed by a grounding uncertainty: “Blink at the light and hope to survive.”
Though Holter has collaborated with many exceptional musicians in the last 15 years, solo work has always been key to her process, including unfettered improvisations where she builds melodies and harmonies in real time. Two of them are absolute highlights here. Taking its name from ancient water clocks, ‘Clepsydra’ considers the absurdity of time, the way our need to quantify something that simply exists can make prisoners of us all. Aside from rewritten lyrics, it is heard here as she originally recorded it; the processed vocals reiterate how alien the concept of time can be and turn it into a sort of otherworldly love story. And though the 10-minute masterpiece ‘My Twin’ was improvised by Holter alone, mostly in one take, it is a brilliant consideration of forking paths and multiplicity. Holter is in dialogue with another version of herself, considering the pleasure and pain into which we simply seem to stumble. Holter became a mother and lost a nephew while writing Something and many songs on Materia, and the imperialistic and violent behaviour of her country have left her, along with so many others, shaken; this song is a reminder that gratitude is precarious but beautiful, and that presence is necessary.
There has always been a welcome fluidity to Holter’s work. On those earliest records, it was the way the sound seemed to bubble up from beneath a cloudy surface. On subsequent records, she would play with song forms, performing multiple versions on the same LP, as she has now done again across Something and Materia. And there’s the way her songs have always flowed into unexpected paths, curving left when you might have expected a straight line. Materia is the most compelling and concise expression yet of this fluidity—as a composer, as a singer, as a person who experiences, feels, and wonders. At one point, what became Something in the Room She Moves was titled Materia, a name Holter once worried might sound too serious; there was always something more to it, though, and here it is.

JC & THE TREE ‘GOOD AND BAD’ (SINGLE)
“Good and Bad” unfolds as a powerful folk-rock journey through life’s extremes, tracing the highs, lows, and uncertain spaces in between. Driven by steady drums, guitar and bass, the track builds a strong rhythmic foundation while a soaring violin line gradually rises, carrying the emotional weight of the song.
Lyrically, it reflects on a life lived on both sides of the line — moments of love, loss, excess and reflection — capturing the tension between chaos and the longing for home. Themes of redemption and self-acceptance emerge as the song progresses, shifting from questioning where one belongs to embracing the journey itself.
What begins as an intimate, introspective piece expands into a cinematic crescendo, where instrumentation and emotion collide. “Good and Bad” ultimately delivers a raw, honest message about finding balance, learning from experience and coming to terms with who you are.
ABOUT JC & THE TREE AND THEIR NEW ALBUM
“Jack Johnson meets Stephane Grappelli”
JC and the Tree return with their third studio album Lost in the Wild. After three years on the road touring their original music full-time, they return with their most expansive and introspective release to date.
Arriving on all streaming platforms May 18, 2026, the album has already been in the hands of dedicated fans for over a month via exclusive vinyl and CD releases sold through the bandʼs website and at shows across their current Australian tour.
Following a strong run through the southern states, the duo will wrap up their national tour in Queensland by late June with a series of performances and festival appearances before taking the record global with an extensive European run.
Written over three years while living on the road touring their original music full-time, Lost in the Wild reflects a period of growth, movement and creative expansion. Entirely funded through their music, the album marks a significant milestone for the independent act, capturing the realities of life on the road while carving out a sustainable career.
The result is a rich and cohesive body of work that blends folk, rock, indie and roots with touches of lo-fi pop, country, prog-rock and cinematic textures. While the sound leans into a fuller, more dynamic band arrangement, it remains grounded in the warmth, intimacy and storytelling that define JC and the Tree.
Drawing influence from artists like The Lumineers, Boy & Bear, City and Colour and Of Monsters and Men, the album weaves together acoustic-driven arrangements with layered harmonies, violin-led melodies with a bed of warm acoustic guitar and a rich, textured production style. Rhodes, piano, trumpet and banjo are featured throughout and sit alongside acoustic foundations to create a sound that feels both intimate and cinematic.
Lead vocals are primarily delivered by frontman Jesse Tree, whose evocative voice and guitar work form the core of the record, while Jacinta Simons steps forward on her own track “Homesick,” adding another dimension to the albumʼs emotional range.
At its core, Lost in the Wild grapples with themes of disconnection and renewal. Through vivid, unfiltered lyrics, the album confronts the pressures of modern society — the grind of routine, the weight of expectation and the quiet longing for balance. Songs reflect on carving out time for love, family and self in a world that often demands the opposite, while ultimately rejecting materialism in favour of meaning and human connection.
Standout moments include the focus track “More Than Possessions,” an uplifting folk-rock anthem driven by violin and a clear message about identity beyond materialism, and lead single “Outrun the Sun,” a bright, sun-soaked indie-folk track featuring trumpet and a playful, toe-tapping energy.
The album also includes “Water to the Flame,” which previously reached #1 on the AMRAP Regional Chart, further cementing the duoʼs growing presence within the Australian music landscape.
Produced by Scott French at Lovestreet Studios in Queensland and mastered by Trent Dobson, the record brings together a talented group of collaborators who add depth and character to its sound.
Contributions from French on drums, bass, banjo and percussion, alongside Niq Reefman on trumpet, help shape a dynamic and immersive sonic landscape that supports the albumʼs emotional weight and storytelling.
Following their Queensland festival run, JC and the Tree will embark on their first international tour, a major milestone for the duo.Spanning three months from mid- July to mid-October 2026, the European
tour will include 22 dates across Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands and France, with eight festival appearances already confirmed, including a showcase event in Germany. In total, the band is set to perform more than 40 shows worldwide in support of the album, bringing their music and message to an expanding global audience.
Recorded at Love Street Studio, Lost in the Wild captures a band unafraid to question, to wander and to grow. It speaks to anyone caught between the structures of modern life and the pull of something more grounded, offering a timely reminder that we are more than what we own, produce or are told to be.
With this release, JC and the Tree deliver a resonant, heartfelt collection of songs that invites listeners to slow down, reconnect and rediscover what truly matters.
“JC & The Tree create beautiful, heartfelt and nuanced music. The interplay between the two of them is a thrilling delight and the songs resonate with heart, soul and passion. I love them.”Stuart Coupe – Author, journalist, broadcaster
“JC and the Tree have really hit their stride with this new album. It feels both expansive and deeply personal, featuring the storytelling and nostalgic sounds that they have become so well known for.”

REDD ANNOUNCES NEW PROJECT heaven’s here
SET FOR RELEASE ON FRI NOV 20
UNVEILS NEW SINGLE ‘better’
On the eve of their headline show in Amsterdam, Naarm/Melbourne artist REDD. shares new single ‘better’ and announces their upcoming project heaven’s here is set for release on Friday November 20 (on Island Records Australia).
An intoxicating rush of fuzz guitars, blurred vision and magnified feelings, ‘better’ explores escapism and the impulse to abandon responsibility in favour of a good time! Originally conceived as a party track in late 2025, ‘better’ took on a different weight by the time REDD. recorded it in London with acclaimed producer Dan Carey (Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C., Geese).
REDD. shares “I was dealing with a lot personally, and the pub became this strange place of comfort and escape. ‘Better’ is about that feeling of wanting to outrun reality, even if only for a night.”
As the second track to be lifted from heaven’s here, ‘better’ is driven by a cheeky and undeniably infectious hook, “If you like me now, I’m better when I’m f*cked up”; a line that captures the reckless optimism, self-destruction and fleeting freedom that defines late nights in your early twenties.
Punk, rap and electro, shape personal songwriting with poignant details on REDD.’s new project. Exploring themes of gender, sexuality, grief, love, escapism and coming of age heaven’s here is deeply personal as it is relatable. A 4k snapshot of REDD.s life, tracks on the project reflect experimentation, self-discovery and self-expression inherent in youth.
REDD. says about their new project, “I remember before I went to write and record ‘heaven’s here’ I wanted it to be a party, an escape for people. The week leading up to my writing trip for the project I had a difficult series of events followed by me and my girlfriend at the time breaking up. Life got very heavy, very fast. And now I needed an escape from something. That’s what heaven’s here became.
To me heaven’s here is about identity, grief and self discovery. I felt as if I had gone all the way back to square one and had to be build myself back up again. It was an incredibly difficult time of my life and there were many times where I found myself escaping and coping through substances and lust.”
With over 3.7 million global streams since releasing music, REDD. was named on Rolling Stone’s Future of Music 2026 list, with their music featured in the world of film, television and gaming. The first single from heaven’s here, ‘life’, garnered support from the likes of triple j, RAGE, BRAG Media VOTW, Ones To Watch, COLORS and more, plus DSP support including Spotify’s GLOW (ANZ Cover), The New Alt, New Noise, Alternative Pride, Local Noise (Cover) – Apple Music’s New In Indie, New In Alternative, NMD and Queer Australia – YouTube’s Pop Punk Now – Soundcloud’s US Fresh Pressed.

HEIR TO THE SQUANDERED MILLIONS, MELBOURNE’S NEW ‘COMPACT, TIGHT’ POWER POP GROUP AND THE BRAINCHILD OF AUSTRALIAN MUSIC PRIZE NOMINEE ROSS MCLENNAN, OF TWICE ARIA-NOMINATED ’90s TRIPLE J FAVES SNOUT, RELEASE THIRD SINGLE AND VIDEO “PLAY AND SHARE” TODAY. DEBUT ALBUM ANCIENT EGYPT IS COMING SOON
‘Play And Share’ is the latest single for power pop project Heir To The Squandered Millions – the new project of Ross McLennan, formerly of ’90s Australian power-pop outfit and Triple J faves Snout – in the lead up to their forthcoming debut album Ancient Egypt. It’s got a kind of 60s punky thing about it, with enough punchy rhythm and angular key shifting to keep you wide awake and tapping your toes. Ross is enjoying reducing serious political concerns to an ego driven, argumentative, griping debate. Because this is rock and roll.
Stream or buy “Play and Share” here: https://cheersquadrecordstapes.bandcamp.com/track/play-and-share
Heir To The Squandered Millions are also set to play Cheersquad’s big night at the Corner Hotel, Saturday October 3rd, with The Stems, The Johnnys, Benny J Ward & The Psych Ward and Bagful of Beez, as part of the Corner’s 30 Years Young celebrations.
https://tickets.cornerhotel.com/outlet/event/bd932845-7b16-43d6-85ca-192067fadd7a
After leading Snout from 1991 to 2002, Ross McLennan undertook a side project, Meuscram, with his younger brother, Lindsay (a.k.a. Link Meanie of the Meanies), delivering a lo-fi self-titled album in 1995.
Subsequent to that, McLennan issued four solo albums – Hits from the Brittle Building (February 2004), Sympathy for the New World (February 2008), The Night’s Deeds Are Vapour (2013) and All the Colours Print Can Manage (October 2017). Sympathy for the New World was short-listed for the Australian Music Prize (AMP) for 2008.
Sez Ross of the new band:
“The live band is myself, Ewan McCartney (Snout, Ripe, Ten Gallon Head, Dan Brodie), Jane McCracken (The Foots, Cheeses, Trevor Ludlowe and the Hell Raisers), and Ben Mason (The Smallgoods).
“It’s been a while since I’ve made compact, tight power pop. While I was doing my other solo stuff I felt like I had this kind of guitar pop skill set that was going to waste… For better or worse, I feel like this stuff is my pure true self. Or at least a big part of me. I was raised by television (and funny parents).
“I found my previous solo outings kind of taxing to make. So I just wanted to have fun for a time. This record is a bit like the Monkees in my mind. A concept of a band rather than an actual band. Then there is the live band who are like the Wrecking Crew: lot’s of chin scratching “how do we make this work?”, and loads of fun. I love the people in the band.”
Heir To The Squandered Millions sees McLennan return to the liberating limits of guitar pop. It’s great fun.

BUTCHER BABIES Announce New Album NIGHTBLOOM
Due October 2nd via Judge & Jury Records
Band Unveils Official Music Video for “Blame It on the Wind”
Metal powerhouse Butcher Babies have announced their highly anticipated new album, NIGHTBLOOM, due out October 2nd via Judge & Jury Records. Along with the album announcement, the band has unveiled the official music video for their latest single, “Blame It on the Wind,” offering fans another preview of what promises to be one of the band’s most compelling releases yet.
A Powerhouse Production Team
NIGHTBLOOM was produced by acclaimed hitmaker Howard Benson, whose extensive credits include some of the biggest names in modern rock and metal (My Chemical Romance, Skillet, Daughtry, Halestorm, etc.). Joe Rickard, Neil Sanderson and Henry Flury served as co-producers, while Cameron Pierce Mizell and Evan McKeever provided additional production on “Songbird.”
Heidi Shepherd shares about writing the album,
“A couple of years ago, I found myself in a web of darkness that I couldn’t shake. A vicious cycle of self loathing and doubt, all while my support system did everything in their power to remind me of who I am. I desperately wanted to see in myself what they saw in me. I needed a way to look in the mirror and find love for who was looking back at me. So, I shut off social media, and for the first time in my life, I started therapy.”
“Therapy sent me down a rabbit hole that I didn’t know existed. Over the course of a year, I was flooded with memories of trauma and emotions that I had suppressed. I started to feel that in this overwhelming darkness, these memories needed a way out. So, I started writing. I wrote about my failure of a ‘perfect’ marriage over 20 years ago. I wrote about the stormy canyon road that sent us to divorce. I wrote about watching the love of my life fall in love with someone else in front of me. I wrote about a one-night stand that has haunted me for decades. I wrote about a former boyfriend who took his own life. I wrote about Mormon religion ostracizing me while their members, and my neighbors shamed my family for supporting me. And even more currently, I wrote the abandonment of losing a best friend of 20 years. I wrote about moments that I didn’t realize held so much weight on my heart until we tore that fucker open in therapy.”
“While, reliving and experiencing some of my darkest moments, I started to finally bloom. These songs grew and took on life in the dark. In writing these songs, I was able to turn negative experiences in my life into something positive, which in turn gave these memories a new place to live. Moments that I can look at and think ‘Wow, I survived that. I bloomed in the darkest moments of my life.. My ‘NIGHTBLOOM’.
This new album isn’t about the suffering, it’s about the survival.
These songs were born from memories of heartbreak, uncertainty, betrayal, and pain. But they’re not just about those subjects, they’re more about what grew because of them. This album, ‘NIGHTBLOOM’, is a reminder that not everything beautiful needs perfect sunshine to flourish. Sometimes the most meaningful parts of life begin in the darkest seasons.”
“Writing with purpose. That was the overall theme of this album. Each part, layer, lyric was crafted with purpose and focus. Nothing was unimportant. Every detail was created to tell a story with a singular voice. NIGHTBLOOM is our most important work we’ve ever done in Butcher Babies,” adds Henry Flury.
NIGHTBLOOM showcases Butcher Babies at their most focused and dynamic, combining the band’s signature aggression with soaring melodies and a modern production that pushes their sound forward. The band continue to cement their place among modern metal’s most formidable forces. The new album captures the band’s evolution while retaining the unapologetic energy, commanding vocals, and crushing instrumentation that have defined their career.
“Blame It on the Wind”, the latest single from the album, is already gaining significant momentum at rock radio, including strong support from SiriusXM Octane, building anticipation for the full-length album’s October 2nd release.
Butcher Babies will continue their extensive 2026 world tour with a nationwide U.S. run alongside Chad Gray (Mudvayne, Hellyeah) beginning in late summer and extending into the fall. The band will also appear at Louder Than Life in Kentucky, bringing their high-energy live show to fans across the country. The band’s reputation as a live act has remained one of their defining characteristics, earning them repeat festival appearances and loyal fans worldwide.

Butcher Babies have spent more than a decade carving out their own unmistakable place in heavy music. Formed in 2009 and hailing from Las Vegas, NV, the band has built a reputation on explosive live performances, fearless experimentation, and a sound that refuses to be confined to a single genre. Blending the aggression of thrash and groove metal with soaring melodic hooks, a punk-rock attitude, and an ever-evolving range of influences, Butcher Babies have become a force all their own.
The band made an immediate impact with their 2013 debut, Goliath, introducing audiences to their raw energy and uncompromising approach. They continued to expand their sound through Uncovered (2014), Take It Like a Man (2015), Lilith (2017), and the 2023 double album Eye for an Eye… / …’Til the World’s Blind. Across each release, Butcher Babies have consistently pushed beyond expectations, embracing heavier extremes, anthemic melodies, and increasingly personal and dynamic songwriting.
Now, Butcher Babies are entering their most exciting chapter yet. Their infectious new singles released through Judge & Jury Records offer the first glimpses into a bold new era for the band; one that feels heavier, more focused, more melodic, more vulnerable, and more fearless than ever before. Each new release reveals another side of what Butcher Babies have become, while hinting at what may be the band’s most ambitious and promising record to date.
More than fifteen years into their career, Butcher Babies aren’t interested in repeating the past. They’re still evolving, still taking risks, and still challenging expectations of what this band can be. If their latest material is any indication, the next chapter isn’t simply a continuation of the Butcher Babies story; it’s the beginning of something entirely new.
Drawing inspiration from the crushing weight of Pantera and Slipknot to the genre-bending spirit of No Doubt, the band has never been interested in following a predetermined formula. That versatility has carried Butcher Babies around the world, where their relentless touring and high-octane performances have earned them a fiercely dedicated global fanbase and opportunities to share stages with some of the biggest names in heavy music.

ROBERT BAXTER GOES ‘NAMELESS’ ANNOUNCES PARTYANIMAL EP OUT SEP 18
+ NEW SINGLE & VIDEO FOR ‘NAMELESS’ OUT NOW + SUPPORTING ASHNIKKO ACROSS AU/NZ THIS SEP
There’s a particular kind of freedom that comes from being a stranger — no history, no reputation, nobody keeping score. That’s the space Robert Baxter is writing from on ‘NAMELESS’, the new single from the Naarm/Melbourne pop artist, released today alongside the announcement of their forthcoming EP PARTYANIMAL, out September 18. Listen to ‘NAMELESS’ HERE and pre-save the PARTYANIMAL EP HERE.
Baxter has built a career on refusing to sit still. Raised on Yorta Yorta Country before relocating to a city where they now sell out their own headline shows, the non-binary Taiwanese/Australian artist treats vulnerability, desire, and humour as the same material, worked and reworked until the line between sincerity and irony disappears. PARTYANIMAL is the fullest expression of that instinct yet — a record that tracks a night out in real time, from the first drink to the drive home at sunrise. “It’s the unapologetic gay, sexy, sweaty side, and then the vulnerable how I feel on the come down too,” Baxter says. “It’s the animalistic play between needs and desires — the production is all ferocious and headbanging, but the lyrics contain another side to the animal if you listen.”
That tension is sharpest on ‘NAMELESS’, written during a trip to London and built around the specific high of being unrecognisable. Back home, Baxter says, the city’s gay scene runs on gossip — who’s slept with whom, worn like a badge. “Everyone knows everyone, and sometimes people will talk about who they’ve been with as achievements,” they explain. “I don’t enjoy that narrative or want to be used that way.” Abroad, stripped of context, that pressure disappears and ‘NAMELESS’ turns the resulting anonymity into something closer to liberation than loneliness.
The single joins three earlier PARTYANIMAL cuts, ‘ICY (TAKE IT OFF)‘, ‘MUSIC 2 MY EARS‘, and ‘KITTY CAT‘, continuing a run that’s carried Baxter well beyond Melbourne’s club circuit since their 2024 and 2025 EPs, you wouldn’t expect cupid to cry and STARGIRL. triple j, 10 Magazine, F Word Magazine, and Kaltblut have all taken notice, alongside a string of Spotify New Music Friday placements across the UK, US, Canada, and Australia/New Zealand. But PARTYANIMAL feels less like a continuation than a full step forward — Baxter fully inhabiting the popstar instincts they’ve spent two EPs edging toward. “I think my audience has gotten to know me more and I can trust they will understand when I’m being ironic”, they say. “I’ve developed a tough shell when it comes to receiving hate for being queer, or people being confused about my gender. But no one hates on the music, because how could they?”
Robert Baxter has recently been announced as the support act across all dates of Ashnikko’s AU/NZ tour this September, and to cap off 2026, they’ll be playing Beyond The Valley in VIC, and Wildlands Festival in both Brisbane and Perth.
‘NAMELESS’ is out now, buy/stream it here.

FCUKERS ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN TOUR
PLAYING SYDNEY, BRISBANE AND MELBOURNE THIS DECEMBER
PRESENTED BY HANDSOME TOURS
(Thursday 20 August) If you wanna party, New York live electronic duo Fcukers have today announced their Australian return this December for three sweat-soaked shows across Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne with a detour between stops for a Meredith Music Festival set.
Kicking off at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Wednesday 9 December, the duo head to Brisbane’s Princess Theatre on Thursday 10 December before wrapping at The Timber Yard in Melbourne on Sunday 13 December. Ticket presales start from 11am local Tuesday 25 August, with general onsale from 11am local Wednesday 26 August – Sign up for presale here.
This Australian run celebrates Fcukers’ debut record Ö – produced by modern maestro Kenneth Blume, released in March – spanning eleven tracks of heart-pounding, instantly addictive dance music built for the club and beyond. One track heads toward glossy, maximalist pop; the next into skittering breakbeats or a dancehall-tinged groove, before landing somewhere rooted in classic house. It’s a full night out captured in one chaotic, unrelenting capsule, and it landed five stars from DORK, four stars from DIY and NME, plus an outpouring of support from Vogue, New York Times and – locally – high rotation from triple j, Double J and across community radio.
Since exploding onto the scene, Fcukers have become mainstays of the underground club scene and the global festival circuit as they grace stages across Glastonbury, Coachella, Primavera and Lollapalooza and finish the nights in sweaty basements such as Paris’ Silencio and Berlin’s Panorama Bar in Berghain. Earlier this year they were able to debut their brand of nonchalant dance rock on US Television with a performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. It can only be said that moments like these, alongside sold-out tours in the US, UK and Europe have caught the eyes of their peers, leading to incredible moments supporting Harry Styles across three sold-out nights in Brazil to over 200,000 people, playing along side RÜFÜS DU SOL at some of their biggest shows to date and opening for Tame Impala’s ‘Deadbeat’ tour. Those nods include getting the party going whilst DJ’ing at Charli XCX’s GRAMMY afterparty and Madonna’s Club Confessions in New York or their album launch party with Kenny Beats and The Dare.
Getcha Bon Bon with Fcukers on the dancefloor this December!

CAMERON WINTER ANNOUNCES LIVE ALBUM FROM STORIED 2025 CARNEGIE HALL PERFORMANCE ‘LIVE AT CARNEGIE HAL
OUT OCT 9TH VIA PARTISAN RECORDS / PLAY IT AGAIN SAM
Cameron Winter announces his first live album, Live at Carnegie Hall. The album documents Winter’s historic December 2025 performance, becoming one of the youngest solo artists to headline and perform in the storied concert hall’s main auditorium. Alone, arched over his piano with his back to an awed, sold-out crowd, the Geese frontman reshaped songs from his acclaimed debut Heavy Metal. An album which was described as “one of the most audacious and self-possessed singer-songwriter records of this century so far, a fever dream of feelings from someone who understood the rules enough to know he barely cared about them” by GQ in their detailed account from inside Carnegie Hall that night.
On that vaunted stage, he also shared three previously unreleased compositions, each offering a glimpse at his vault of material. There is an undeniable sense of occasion running through the performance, capturing the momentous feeling of witnessing a once-in-a-generation artist commanding the stage of one of American music’s most hallowed venues.
Live at Carnegie Hall is now available for pre-order digitally, on CD and vinyl, and will arrive on 9 October via Partisan Records / Play It Again Sam.

THE TORTURED SOULS SHARE UPLIFTING NEW SINGLE + VIDEO GOLD-LINED MELANCHOLY
+ ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM UNFORGETTABLE DAYS DUE OUT NOV 27
A poignant yet uplifting ode to life’s peaks and troughs, the new single Gold-Lined Melancholy out today from Perth-based collective The Tortured Souls flourishes with lush arrangements and warmth, helmed by singer-songwriter Justin Davies’ rich vocals and storytelling. Also arriving today with an accompanying music video, Gold-Lined Melancholy is the third taste of the group’s forthcoming debut album Unforgettable Days, due for release on November 27.
Opening with ethereal piano, strings and shimmering organ, Gold-Lined Melancholy unfurls with vulnerability and catharsis, coating you with dynamic swells and warm melodies. Nodding to Lou Reed, Nina Simone, Nick Drake and David Bowie, Gold-Lined Melancholy’s ability to transport you into the world of The Tortured Souls and, ultimately, Justin Davies himself, is no accident, with the single organically coming to life in real-world spaces and moments of rumination, as Davies explains, “Gold-Lined Melancholy was written over three or four days in the front room of my home, late at night in front of a warm fire, sitting on the banks of a lake on the way down south, and then in the carpark, at sunset, in front of the main break in Margaret River. As with most of my songs, they start as a result of my thoughts taking me back to moments that now feel like they were shaping the future me. Memories of times that left the wounds for me to look at and reflect on for many years later, memories which can instantly transport me back to feeling the same feelings that are ever-overwhelming.”
“To try and reflect and capture these feelings in words and a melody is what I sought to find,” Davies adds, “and the film clip serves the song well as it moves atmospherically through moments in life that are magical and nostalgic and laden with a heavy heart.”
“And then, as a remedy to move past the hurt, I search within my past for times that lifted me and delivered me to a place that felt lined with something perfect – all within the spirit of something which is perfect and beautiful. Life can be an easy path for some people, smooth and settled and calm. And for others it seems filled with peaks and troughs that seem impossible to live and endure in the one life. Gold-Lined Melancholy reflects on the silver that shines around the outlines of a day (or every day) but at the same time seems draped in a sadness that feels like it’s reaching into something empty and unfulfilled. Beautiful moments that seem to be a reminder of what could have been in another time, or that actually was in another time, but isn’t any more. I would rather feel the sadness and the longing, from knowing the truth of love and beauty which had only visited so very briefly, than living a life without flying with angels before I fell.”
“In the end, with the distance of time, there is only gold and settled understanding the winding road is a life lived, and all which is pure and true, is the potency that prevails. Love – living it and missing it, wishing for it and promising it – is what shines through.”
Working once again with GRAMMY Award-nominated producer and engineer Rob Grant (Tame Impala, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Josh Homme) on their latest single, The Tortured Souls also conjured the accompanying visuals for Gold-Lined Melancholy with Dead As Disco (Jimmy Barnes, The Paper Kites, The Cat Empire), channelling the track’s essence seamlessly, as Davies elaborates, “The film clip was an important piece to the release – the vital other half. The song says what it says, but it was so important to try and capture life’s poignant moments with a video that had a depth and dreaminess within it. To capture life’s wondrous, nostalgic, lost and lonely moments in an engaging, timeless and theatrical light was so important. I feel like that was captured beautifully.”
Primed to release their debut album Unforgettable Days this November, The Tortured Souls deftly weave life’s highs, lows and everything in between into their signature style, blending pop, soulful rock and immersive storytelling into a timeless collection of songs, with nostalgic tones, dynamic stylistic shifts and memories seamlessly dovetailed together. Opening with wistful whimsy on the album’s title track, Unforgettable Days journeys from shimmering blues-hued heartbreak (Never One To Love) to stirring, sweeping rumination (Gold-Lined Melancholy), cinematic moments buoyed by acoustic guitars and a sprinkling of strings (Stay), swooning Bowie-esque melodies anchored by woozy organs (No Tomorrows) and swaying intimate odes (Had No Time). From here, Unforgettable Days traipses between lush country twangs (Walk With Me), pensive ballads that strike at your core (Say Goodbye), songs to soundtrack the sunset giving way to the shimmering night sky (Promises), and plaintive pleas woven with orchestral trimmings (Take Me Back), before ultimately closing out with uplifting glee via I Felt The Sun and a charming churning piano outro on Coda.
“The style and feel of songs are varied, as there are a few songs that have quite a lean into country story-telling ballads, and others that feel more like songs that were crafted in the late 60’s and early 70’s,” explains Davies. “If there was one theme that ran through all the songs, regardless of their style and influences, it would be that of nostalgia and longing and most of all love lived and lost.”
“We wanted the album to have a cinematic feeling,” Davies continues, “songs that felt like you could fall inside them and be lost within the layers of sound and be taken to a place where it was possible to feel the feelings that were present when the words were written. We hoped that every moment of each song offered something that would spark some imagery, thoughts or emotions – and tried to make the songs sound full and enveloping. There was a whole lot of love and effort put into every layer of every song to leave it sounding as consuming and evoking as possible.”
Formed by Perth singer-songwriter Justin Davies, The Tortured Souls brings together a dazzling array of Perth-based musicians for this forthcoming debut release, including drummer Malcolm Clark and bassist Jay Cortez (both formerly of The Sleepy Jackson), as well as members of the internationally acclaimed West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Having spent decades as a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist in his home state, Justin Davies turned his gaze to creative pursuits, channelling grief after losing a loved one years earlier into music and personal expression. Transforming mutual friendships into artistic collaboration, Davies also teamed up and worked closely with GRAMMY Award-nominated creative Rob Grant for the album’s entirety, spending time at the iconic Poons Head Studio in Western Australia, which also unlocked some of the nostalgic charm percolating throughout the upcoming album.
“Rob and I instantly warmed to each other and our enthusiasm and love for music and the energy behind what was unfolding (quite effortlessly) is reflected in the music,” shares Davies. “The studio itself has its own magic and sense of nostalgia – it feels like a place where wonderful things can happen. It’s hard not to fall into this mindset and energy that exists in the studio – it’s filled with vintage equipment everywhere – surrounding you, against the walls, on the walls, in between the amps and guitars, everywhere. It’s hard not to feel full of something special and it pulls everyone together into this fantastic feeling of being locked into something special – with the music and with each other. You just seem to just love the music and who you are making it with, and where you are at that moment, is the best place you could possibly be.”
Resonating instantly via the album’s title track, Unforgettable Days, which amassed more than 400,000 streams on Spotify alone and previous single No Tomorrows (with 240,000 streams), The Tortured Souls continue to balance emotional authenticity with warmth and storytelling that recalls many of Australia’s greats in the process in the lead up to their debut album.
But ahead of the release of Unforgettable Days, fans can immerse themselves immediately in the resplendent beauty of Gold-Lined Melancholy.
“Releasing Gold-Lined Melancholy feels like the appropriate introduction for the release of the album,” Davies concludes. “It was one of the first couple of songs written and is very much a reflection of how my life has always felt and still feels. It is a song which feels close to my heart, and probably the closest reflection of how I move through most days. I’m full of gratitude for my life and all that I have, but it is a life that often feels hard to navigate through.”
Gold-Lined Melancholy is out today.
Unforgettable Days is due out November 27

KAT WILDER Australian Metal Vocalist Releases Third Single, Running Wild
After saying To Hell With You and taking off down Satan’s Highway, Melbourne metal vocalist Kat Wilder returns with her third solo single, Running Wild.
Delivering another slab full of downpicking fury, twisting riffs and soaring vocals, Running Wild is pure unadulterated heavy metal.
Kat says she has “never fit in with mainstream society and I’ve always been a bit of an outcast living my own life…I always questioned everything about how we were taught to live…Running Wild is about breaking the rules of society and living life the way you want.”

Previously fronting power metal outfit Horizons Edge, Kat built a solid reputation across three studio albums and national touring, sharing stages with the likes of Helloween, Ross The Boss and Primal Fear. Their final release, Let The Show Go On, spent ten weeks in the German Rock and Metal charts, a strong sign that the reach extended well beyond Australia.
In May Kat stepped out on her own releasing her debut solo single, To Hell With You and following it up with Satan’s Highway,
Now working towards her debut solo album, Kat shifts into a more direct and personal lane. The voice is still as powerful as ever, but there’s a sharper focus behind it, both musically and lyrically.
Having trained under and worked in the studio with the legendary Ralf Scheepers, Kat brings a level of control and experience that sits comfortably alongside that raw edge.
