The Monkee legend is back Down Under and he’s bringing six decades of hits, memories and rock ‘n’ roll history with him.
Micky Dolenz is heading back to Australia in May 2027 for a nationwide tour celebrating 60 years of The Monkees, promising fans a hit-packed trip through one of pop culture’s most enduring musical legacies.
The legendary singer, drummer, actor and last surviving original Monkee will bring his brand-new show, “MICKY DOLENZ: 60 YEARS OF THE MONKEES”, to 10 Australian cities, from Brisbane and the Gold Coast through to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

And with The Monkees officially turning 60, the timing couldn’t be more fitting.
Dolenz will take audiences on a chronological musical and visual journey through the band’s remarkable story, performing the songs that made The Monkees a global sensation alongside fan favourites, personal stories and a multimedia backdrop packed with footage and memories from the group’s history.
Expect to hear “Last Train to Clarksville,” “I’m A Believer,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “I’m Not Your Stepping Stone,” “Randy Scouse Git,” “Sometime In The Morning” and “Daydream Believer”, among many others.
The show will also feature songs from Dolenz’s new EP TIMELESS, released September 4, including the first single “TERRI,” written by Paul Westerberg.
The Australian dates arrive during a major year for Monkees fans, with Rhino celebrating the 60th anniversary of the band’s landmark debut album, The Monkees, with the release of The Monkees (60th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) on October 30, 2026.
The lavish 3CD/LP set, produced by Monkees historian Andrew Sandoval, brings together the original album’s stereo mix on vinyl with three CDs featuring the mono album, alternate takes, backing tracks and rare mixes originally heard on the Emmy-winning TV series.
Among the treasures are a TV mix of “Take A Giant Step,” an alternate take of Michael Nesmith’s “Papa Gene’s Blues,” a rehearsal of “I Wanna Be Free,” backing tracks for songs including “(Theme From) The Monkees,” vintage promos and the group’s rare Kellogg’s jingle.
Released in October 1966, The Monkees was a phenomenon from the outset. Powered by the smash “Last Train to Clarksville,” the album spent 13 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart and eventually achieved quintuple-platinum status.
The Monkees – Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork went from television stars to genuine recording and touring sensations, with the group’s first four albums all reaching No. 1 on the Billboard chart.
Six decades on, Dolenz is still carrying that music to audiences around the world.
Reflecting on the era in the new anniversary collection’s liner notes, Dolenz recalls the extraordinary impact of The Monkees.
“For all the madness of that time, there was joy in it. We were part of something that none of us could fully understand while it was happening.”
And as the 60th anniversary arrives, his focus remains firmly on the fans.
“I remain proud of what I’ve achieved in my time, particularly with my late great and still-beloved Monkee brothers Davy, Peter, and Michael,” says Dolenz. “What I want to do, as the 60th anniversary of that wonderful moment is upon me, is to look back and share with the fans the sheer joy of what we accomplished-and what it all still means to so many.”
