MICHAEL G. JONES Reaches for the Stars with melodic New Single.
Hot on the heels of his previous single, You Can Call Me Out, Australian singer-songwriter-guitarist Michael G. Jones returns with his infectious new track, Way Past Mars.
Superbly produced by TAXIRIDE guitarist-songwriter Tim Wild, the track once again showcases Jones’ innate talent for crafting catchy, memorable, and deeply melodic tunes. Way Past Mars drives forward on a strong, compelling beat, featuring rich vocal harmonies and Wild’s classic, George Harrison-inspired velvety guitar tones—a sonic nod to Jones’ debut single, Hello World.
At its core, Way Past Mars explores the friction of chasing a dream while struggling to maintain compatibility in a relationship. “It is probably the closest song I’ve written to my own character,” Jones reflects. “I’ve always been a dreamer and an optimist. I’m just lucky to have a life partner who encourages me to chase my dreams. In this song, the character isn’t so fortunate.”
Refusing to be pigeonholed, Jones commands a versatile palette that spans Pop, Country, Folk, Irish, and Rock. This stylistic fluidity shines through his growing discography, including past releases like Hello World, Irish Dawn, They Do Us Proud, and You Can Call Me Out.
“As a songwriter, I don’t want to be restricted,” Jones explains. “I relish the creative freedom of lyrical storytelling and memorable melodies over the commercial limitations of sticking to a single musical category.”
“My songwriting is heavily influenced by some of my Favorite artists—Guy Clark, John Prine, Richard Thompson, and a dose of Jimmy Buffett, to name a few,” Jones continues. “They inspired me to write stories that evoke the deep, universal emotions lying inside all of us.”
Way Past Mars is out now on all major digital streaming platforms and is featured on Jones’ debut album, A Life In Song.

JACOBS RUN RELEASE NEW SINGLE “HOW DOES IT FEEL (ONE MORE TIME)”
The closing track from The Other Side brings melody, orchestra and a street parade together
Melbourne melodic indie rock trio Jacobs Run return to the airwaves on Friday 25 September 2026 with their new single, “How Does It Feel (One More Time)”, the third single from their second album, The Other Side.
Produced by Mark Opitz AM, the song finds Jacobs Run in an expansive but characteristically melodic setting. One of Australia’s most distinguished record producers, Opitz has produced landmark recordings for Cold Chisel, INXS, The Angels, Divinyls and Australian Crawl, after beginning his production career working alongside Harry Vanda and George Young and engineering sessions for AC/DC.
Written by singer and guitarist Michael Jacobs, “How Does It Feel (One More Time)” is an uplifting song about commitment and the point at which uncertainty gives way to something more certain. Its central refrain asks a simple question – how does it feel when something becomes real? – while the lyric returns to being present, giving yourself completely and saying what needs to be said one more time.
The recording begins in familiar Jacobs Run territory, with Michael Jacobs on vocals and guitar, Peter Curigliano on bass and backing vocals and Fabian Bucci on drums, with long-time collaborator Susie Ahern adding backing vocals.
From there, the song gradually opens into something much larger.
Jacobs Run worked with conductor and orchestrator George Ellis and a 32-piece orchestra, recorded at the Simon Leadley Scoring Stage at Trackdown Studios in Sydney. Ellis has conducted the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and worked with artists including Lou Reed, The Church, Megan Washington, Josh Pyke and Kate Miller-Heidke. He is currently preparing The Church – A Psychedelic Symphony with The George Ellis Orchestra, including a Melbourne performance at Hamer Hall in November.
But “How Does It Feel (One More Time)” has another idea waiting in the wings. Jacobs had long imagined a parade appearing in the song. As it moves into its latter stages, a distinctly Beatlesque influence emerges and the arrangement begins to take on the character of a marching band passing through the music.
To realise that idea, an additional Melbourne brass section was recorded specifically for the track: Greg Clarkson on saxophone and flute, Tim Wilson on saxophone and flute, Paddy McMullan on trumpet, piccolo trumpet and flugelhorn, and Rodger Schmidli on trombone.
Together with Ellis’ orchestration and Ahern’s backing vocals, the brass gives the song’s latter stages their distinctive, Beatlesque marching-band character. On the album version, the arrangement continues beyond the radio edit into an extended finale, with the sound of a crowd joining the procession as the album draws to a close.
The Other Side was principally recorded at Wick Studios in Brunswick, with Jacobs Run choosing real orchestral and brass players rather than relying on sampled arrangements. The album was produced by Mark Opitz, with Dan Corless and Cameron Hull engineering, Simon Moro mixing and editing, and Joe Carra mastering.
Jacobs Run return to the stage for a special Melbourne performance at Shotkickers, High Street, Thornbury, at 2:00pm on Sunday 22 November 2026, with Michael Jacobs, Peter Curigliano and Fabian Bucci joined live by Mark Eppel on keyboards and Greg Moseley on guitar.
“How Does It Feel (One More Time)” is out Friday 25 September 2026.

BLACK MARKET CLASH BRINGS THE STORY OF THE CLASH TO THE CURTIN IN TWO SETS FOR THE FIRST TIME
Black Market Clash brings The Story Of The Clash to The Curtin in Carlton on Friday 2 October, presenting the show across two sets for the first time.
Presented by Pop Preservation Society, the two-hour performance gives Black Market Clash the full evening to explore The Clash catalogue, drawing from the five albums that charted the band’s development from the punk explosion of the late 1970s through to their emergence as one of the most musically adventurous bands of their generation.
The journey begins with the lo-fi attack of the 1977 debut The Clash, moves through Give ‘Em Enough Rope and the extraordinary expansion of London Calling, into the triple album odyssey of Sandinista!, and through to the international breakthrough of Combat Rock. But the albums tell only part of the story. A considerable part of The Clash’s recorded output appeared outside their original UK albums, particularly through singles and B-sides.
Black Market Clash approaches the performance as a live anthology of that broader catalogue, combining the familiar with deeper album tracks and non-album releases, while tracing the band’s movement through punk, reggae, ska, dub, soul and rock ‘n’ roll.
The two sets include London Calling, Rock The Casbah, Should I Stay Or Should I Go, Straight To Hell, Train In Vain, I Fought The Law, Janie Jones, Safe European Home, Lost In The Supermarket, Rudie Can’t Fail and Revolution Rock, alongside other songs drawn from across The Clash catalogue.
Black Market Clash features Melbourne musicians Victor Stranges, Garry Allen, Stu Thomas, Mike Dupp and Gian Cannizzaro, with a three-piece horn section joining the band at The Curtin.
The horn section expands the arrangements across a number of songs, including Rudie Can’t Fail and Revolution Rock, reflecting the broader musical palette The Clash drew upon as their music developed.
The Curtin performance follows Black Market Clash’s sold-out appearance at Brunswick Ballroom in June as part of The Story Of The Clash & The Specials, a double header with More Specials performed by Loonee Tunes. The Curtin gives Black Market Clash the full evening for the first time, with two sets and two hours to dig further into The Clash catalogue.
FROM THE RECORD COLLECTION TO THE STAGE
Black Market Clash is part of an ongoing series of music presentations developed by Melbourne musician and Pop Preservation Society founder Victor Stranges. Other productions explore the music of Blondie, Elvis Costello and Tom Waits, while Stranges’ solo Songwriter Series has included New York Stories and Get Stiffed!, exploring the music of Stiff Little Fingers, with Last Of The Angry Young Men: British Punk/Post-Punk Songsmithery coming in November.
Across these projects, Stranges explores the songs, writers, records and musical scenes that shaped him. He has also produced companion films using documentary footage, archival interviews, imagery and original editing, extending the stories beyond the live performances.
His connection with The Clash goes back to his teenage years, playing drums in Melbourne punk band Drunk ‘n’ Disorderly and including Clash songs in the band’s pub sets.
“Having grown up listening to, learning and playing these songs, the music was absorbed through a sort of osmosis,” says Stranges. “It honestly feels like it’s in my DNA. I’ve lived with this music for most of my life.”
PUTTING THE RECORD BACK INTO THE LIVE MUSIC EXPERIENCE
At The Curtin, one ticket holder will leave with five classic Clash releases on 180g vinyl, spanning 10 LPs and valued at approximately $400.
The collection includes The Clash (1 LP), Give ‘Em Enough Rope (1 LP), London Calling (2 LPs), Sandinista! (3 LPs) and the limited edition Combat Rock + The People’s Hall (3 LPs).
For Pop Preservation Society, the idea connects the live show with the physical records that carried this music. For Stranges, who grew up buying records, working in record shops and eventually making them himself, it is also a connection to how he first discovered music.
The complete 10 LP collection will be drawn during the show’s intermission from eligible ticket holders attending on the night.
Full details and Terms and Conditions are available from the Black Market Clash website.

AMONG THE RESTLESS SHARE DRIVING NEW SINGLE 6 YEARS OF MADNESS
DEBUT ALBUM SEASONS ANNOUNCED FOR RELEASE OCTOBER 30
Fast-approaching the release of their debut album, Seasons set for release on October 30, today Naarm/Melbourne group Among The Restless return armed with a vulnerable yet driving alt-rock gem in the form of a brand new single, 6 Years Of Madness.
Capturing the euphoria of 2000s Australian indie flavours with a modern alt pop sound, 6 Years Of Madness feels simultaneously nostalgic yet forward-facing. Balancing jangly instrumentation, driving beats and soaring melodies, 6 Years Of Madness finds Among The Restless at their reflective yet riveting best, complete with buoyant earworm choruses and a heartfelt bridge that oozes into a final flourish. “6 Years Of Madness is straight to the point but gentle and not afraid to let a sensitive topic rear its head for all to see,” shares the band. “It has the elements of an alt rock track, which is where our roots are as a band, so we got to dig in and hone in on what we love. It covers some pretty personal struggles faced by Lachie [Dunn], but we aren’t afraid to shy away from that. It’s a loud and proud, bold final single.”
As they approach the release of their debut album next month, Among The Restless are poised on a spectacular new creative chapter as a collective. Rebuilding their sound into one bustling with infectious hooks, introspective lyricism and a sense of immediacy that has threaded through their trajectory since 2019, the upcoming arrival of Seasons celebrates the band’s past, present and future, channelled vigorously into their long-awaited debut full-length album.
Co-produced by the band themselves alongside Thomas Keating (Pete Murray, Gang Of Youths, Thirsty Merc), with engineering and mixing also courtesy of Keating, Seasons was mastered by Matthew Redlich (Dan Sultan, The Paper Kites, The Cactus Channel), with the entire album ultimately captured and completed at Sing Sing Recording Studios in Melbourne over the space of a year and a half. “The whole process was so memorable,” the band reveals of making Seasons. “As we spent more time there we all grew closer and started working so efficiently, we have made lifelong memories and friends.”
Opening with its atmospheric and driving title track, Seasons journeys through winsome and hypnotic earworms (Run Baby Run and Play Pretend), swooning ruminations (Lost In You), and indie gems laden with lush instrumentation and crystalline vocals (Too Far Gone). Opening its second half with percolating guitars and shimmering urgency (Fade), Seasons ups its emotional ante on the magnetic Too Soon To Loose before diverting into a moody yet upbeat anthem primed for the dancefloor and/or a road trip under a shimmering night sky (Sunflower), the jaunty nostalgia of 6 Years Of Madness and, ultimately, the acoustic-laden beauty of Forever, bringing Seasons to an uplifting and soothing conclusion.
Forming back in 2019, Among The Restless are many things as a creative collective; a wall of sound, an alternative soundscape, and also a hub for pushing their passions for though-provoking songwriting into alternative rock fused with pop sensibilities. Releasing their debut EP Define in 2022, the group followed up in 2023 with their sophomore EP All I Want Is Everything while also constantly seeking to evolve their sound and musical boundaries along the way.
Ticking off three East Coast tours and a regional Victorian tour, Among The Restless have performed at Uncaged Festival and Beyond The Valley, and opened Melbourne’s edition of Good Things Festival in 2022 after winning the coveted Battle of the Bands competition. Previously the group were nominated for the AMPlify Award at the 2024 Music Victoria Awards, a category which celebrates and supports outstanding Deaf and/or Disabled musicians in Victoria, and have also received airplay on triple j and triple j Unearthed, along with their music video for Pixel Junkies added to ABC’s rage playlist upon release.
Following the release of their debut album next month, Among The Restless will also embark on their Seasons Tour, heading to Wollongong, Sydney, Canberra and San Remo in November and December, and kicking off 2027 with a bang with a run through the Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Brisbane and Melbourne in January.
“It feels GREAT to be releasing this new single,” says the band. “6 Years Of Madness was one of the last tracks we recorded for the album and from the get go we knew it was a single.”
“An album is something every artist dreams of and now we have done it,” the group conclude. “We really locked it all down and rediscovered our sound and we are completely proud of it, it’s where we want to be.”

Seasons is due out Friday October 30.

TAYLOR MOSS RETURNS WITH GRAVESTONE
There’s nothing quite like a life scare to put everything into perspective. In an instant, the things that once seemed important can suddenly feel very small, and the things that matter most become crystal clear.
Today, award-nominated Australian country artist Taylor Moss returns with Gravestone, the latest taste of her highly anticipated upcoming record Double Life.
At its heart, Gravestone is about the familiar idea of living life to the fullest, but with a little more grit, a little more humour, and a whole lot more perspective.
“I think we all know the cliché of ‘live life to the fullest’, but when you’ve actually had moments where you realise how quickly life can change, it hits differently,” says Moss. “Life is short. Really short. I don’t want to sit on the sidelines of my own life. I want to be all in.”
Written with a tongue-in-cheek attitude towards mortality, Gravestone turns the idea of death into a reason to live harder. From burning the candle at both ends to jumping in head first, Taylor embraces the chaos, ambition and unpredictability of being alive.
“I’ve had a few medical scares that have completely changed my perspective,” says Moss. “You realise you don’t actually know how much time you have. So why not go after the things you want? Why wait for the weekend? Why wait for the ‘right’ time?”
The song’s chorus sums up the sentiment perfectly: “I’ll have livin’ in my heart and glitter in my bones when I go to my gravestone.”
Gravestone is a celebration of being alive. It’s about leaving nothing in the tank, chasing the things that light you up and making sure that, whenever the day eventually comes, there’s a whole lot of living left behind.
Produced by Michael De Lorenzis, Gravestone brings together swampy country textures, infectious energy and Taylor’s unmistakable vocal personality. It’s unapologetic, ambitious and a little bit wild, much like the life it celebrates.
Gravestone follows the release of Megaphone and continues to build the story behind Taylor’s upcoming second record. Already one of Australia’s most recognised independent country artists, Taylor Moss’ ARIA-nominated debut album Firecracker reached #2 on the ARIA Country Albums Chart and #7 on the Australian Albums Chart, while earning three Golden Guitar nominations. She has also achieved three #1 Australian Country Radio singles with Get It Girl, Country Proud and The Women Who Raised Me.
Taylor has performed on major stages including CMC Rocks and the Gympie Music Muster, represented Australia at CMA Fest Nashville, and toured nationally alongside international country music icon LeAnn Rimes.
With more than 17 million streams and a growing reputation as one of Australia’s most compelling independent country voices, Taylor Moss is entering a new chapter.
And with Gravestone, she has one very clear message: Don’t wait until you’re six feet under to start living.
Gravestone is out today.

INTRODUCING THE DELIVERABLES
Cheersquad Records & Tapes are proud to introduce a new band from some old dogs, THE DELIVERABLES.
THE DELIVERABLES will release their debut EP HOP ON IT on Thursday October 29, and have released the first track from it, “Making Hay”, today.
THE DELIVERABLES will launch HOP ON IT on its release day, Thursday October 29, at the Gem Bar in Collingwood, with special guests Mission Brown. Entry is Free.

Sometimes good things happen to those who wait. And waiting is what Piers Buxton has been doing for decades now, watching friends and strangers in other bands do their thing, whilst quietly writing and recording songs in the background… lots of songs.
Mission Brown’s drummer, guitarist and a longtime friend of Buxton’s, Gus Kelly recently heard one of these songs that made his ears prick up. ‘Sorry’ track 2 on the upcoming debut EP ‘Hop on it’, is a longing, heartfelt confession. It’s a song’, as Piers sings, ‘about a regret’, lamenting lost time and lost opportunities, wishing he could have summoned a false sense of security, enabling him to hop up on that stage when he was young.
Gus played this song to James and Max, the other two members of Mission Brown, who were immediately impressed and immediately onboard. So with studio time already booked for Mission Brown’s fourth album, the time was used instead to record 6 of Piers’ songs over 2 days.
And so, THE DELIVERABLES was formed with a mix of old dog experience and a mature-aged debutant. Max Maxey, Gus Kelly, James Crosland and Jason Kain, who was brought onboard for the finishing touches, bring a wealth of experience from bands such as Mission Brown, The Tonalists, Stupidity, The Mustard Club, Rufino and the Wreckage, Mister Sippy and The Jackson Code to name a few.
The end result… guitar driven rock with stories of misfortune, misdirection, love, hate, life and death and the characters, including every one of us, that make this world go round. It’s been worth the wait.
THE DELIVERABLES debut EP HOP ON IT is out Thurs Oct 29 on Cheersquad Records & Tapes, with first single “Making Hay” out today.

HARDCORE SUPERSTAR — “HALO” (SINGLE)
Hardcore Superstar return at full voltage with Halo, a huge, hook-loaded new single that captures the Swedish rock heavyweights at their most combustible. Driven by classic-rock swagger, serrated guitars and a chorus built for mass singalongs, Halo fuses muscle, melody and attitude into a blistering three-and-a-half-minute reminder of why Hardcore Superstar remain one of Sweden’s most enduring hard-rock exports. Lyrically, Halo plays in the dangerous space between salvation and self-destruction, twisting religious imagery, guilt, excess and defiance into something darkly playful and unmistakably Hardcore Superstar. The result is equal parts confession, provocation and pure rock ’n’ roll release. Written by Damir Vic Zino Mujezinovic, Joakim Berggren, Martin Sandvik and Efraim Larsson, Halo arrives as the band prepare for their extensive Dirty Halo Tour, beginning October 2 in Malmö before moving through Sweden, Finland and Estonia. The single also offers a first glimpse of the next chapter following acclaimed album Abrakadabra, with the band currently at work on new material and new drummer Efraim Larsson now firmly in the fold. Big hooks. Dirty edges. Zero restraint. Halo doesn’t ask for attention. It takes it.
Hardcore Superstar have also just announced they are teaming up with Frontiers Music Srl, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for one of Scandinavia’s most enduring and explosive rock bands. Dirty Halo Tour kicks off in Malmö on October 2, 2026. This run covers 21 venues across Sweden, Finland, and Estonia before expanding internationally through 2027.
Tickets and further tour information are available on HARDCORESUPERSTAR.COM/TOUR.

I BUILT THE SKY Return Home For Exclusive Melbourne Show This October
Performing Promise Me You’ll Thrive And The Zenith Rise In Full
For well over a decade, Melbourne guitarist and composer Rohan Stevenson has quietly built I Built The Sky into one of Australia’s most respected instrumental progressive acts.
Completely independent, Ro has amassed more than 70 million streams, built a worldwide audience across YouTube, Spotify and social media, toured internationally throughout Europe, the UK and India, shared stages with the likes of Periphery, Monuments, Plini, Intervals, Polyphia, The Dillinger Escape Plan and many more, while earning the respect of fans and fellow musicians alike.
This October, I Built The Sky return home for what promises to be a very special Melbourne performance.
IBTS will perform both the critically acclaimed new album Promise Me You’ll Thrive and fan favourite The Zenith Rise, in full – from start to finish!
Opening the night with his own brand of progressive/djent mayhem will be Adelaide’s own Keyan.
Ro states: “I’m excited to finally hit the stage to showcase what I believe is my greatest creative achievement in Promise Me You’ll Thrive*. It’s an album I made for anyone who needs a soundtrack to keep moving forward. Featuring David Parkes on drums, Toby Peterson-Stewart on bass and Rohan Sharma on keys and synths, it’s the strongest band I’ve ever had behind these songs.”
“Come for the shred… stay for the tunes.” says Prog Magazine
Released earlier this year, Promise Me You’ll Thrive debuted at #4 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart, reached #3 on the AIR Charts, claimed the #1 Instrumental, Djent and Instrumental Metal positions on Bandcamp, received a four-star review in The Australian and saw Stevenson named Australian Musician’s Musician of the Month.
Discover Promise Me You’ll Thrive by listening to it in full here
https://youtu.be/GWrL7C2TOuo
While breathtaking musicianship has always been central to I Built The Sky, it’s the songwriting that continues to set them apart. Equal parts technical precision and genuine emotion, IBTS’s music has earned praise from some of progressive music’s biggest names.
The Australian added that “Stevenson has carved out his own distinctive path” while Karnivool guitarist Drew Goddard simply described Rohan as “a natural.” Triple J says it’s “some of Australia’s finest in the progsphere” with Plini proclaiming that the songs contain “everything you need in an instrumental track – slippery riffs and big feels.”
If you like instrumental bangers with a positive twist, I Built The Sky have many and will be performing them right before your very eyes this October!

POLYPHIA Releases Hypnotic New Single “With Eyes To See”
New Album, Be Not Afraid, Out Oct 23 with Rise Records
Genre-defying instrumental rock innovators Polyphia have released the hypnotic new track
“With Eyes To See” with an accompanying music video.
This is the third single off their highly anticipated fifth full-length studio album
BE NOT AFRAID out October 23 with Rise Records.
STREAM “WITH EYES TO SEE”

AND WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO
https://youtu.be/WyfIzJwwOTc
The accompanying music video mirrors the track’s hypnotic pull, layering mesmerizing visuals with flashes of a world turned inside out. It’s interwoven with glimpses of redacted Epstein files and world destruction, grounding the video’s dreamlike unraveling in something unsettlingly real.
Earlier this year, Polyphia teased their new chapter with the release of their first single in over four years, “Can You Feel It” pushing boundaries in ways the band never has before with a hybrid of metal and dance music. Following, they released “Power In The Blood” with a music video filmed at the São Francisco da Penitência Church in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The powerful visuals from each release lay the foundation for what’s to come off the new record.
Throughout 2024 and 2025, Polyphia worked together in various locations in Miami, Los Angeles and Dallas alongside co-producer RJ Pasin and guitar phenom Spiro Dussias. Guitarist Tim Henson took a different approach to composition, initially singing lines aloud and then translating them onto guitar, creating a process that encouraged the entire band to build on each other’s ideas in real time. More than anything, the sessions were defined by how much fun they were having creating music together. By the time the album was finished, they had reached a point where they could let go of any expectations about what would happen next and simply enjoy what they had created together.
The collective thread together a three-dimensional offering of otherworldly metal, future-facing prog, and pulsating house sealed tightly with carefully curated samples, inventive beat-craft, and the guitar eloquence that Tim and Scott remain renowned for. This time around, the instrumental push-and-pull invokes the polarity of the ultimate extremes: good and evil.
When speaking on the album Henson adds, “The album takes you through the extremes of two different worlds / moods: one being very uplifting and triumphant, the other being spine-chilling and terrifying. There are moments on the record that legitimately scare me when I listen to them.”

Polyphia have always said what they need to say with their instruments. Since their emergence in 2010, the Texas-bred outfit—Tim Henson [guitar], Scott LePage [guitar], Clay Gober [bass], and Clay Aeschliman [drums]—have organically progressed across a series of acclaimed albums, including Muse [2014], Renaissance [2016], New Levels New Devils [2018], and Remember That You Will Die [2022]. The latterbowed at #1 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and cracked the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. Tallying hundreds of millions of streams, it established the band as rare outliers equally suited to collaborations with either pop singer Sophia Black, multiplatinum rapper SNOT, guitar hero Steve Vai, or iconic Deftones frontman Chino Moreno (on the same body of work).
It’s no wonder Guitar World readers unanimously voted it “The Best Guitar Album of 2022.” Beyond headlining sold-out tours, the group incited the applause of Wired, Revolver, and Rolling Stone who described Tim as “reinventing the instrument for more than a decade.” However, the quartet make a particularly provocative and powerful sonic statement on their fifth full-length offering, BE NOT AFRAID [Rise Records]. The collective thread together a three-dimensional tableau of otherworldly metal, future-facing prog, and pulsating house sealed tightly with carefully curated samples, inventive beat-craft, and the guitar eloquence that Tim and Scott remain renowned for. This time around, the instrumental push-and-pull invokes the polarity of the ultimate extremes: good and evil.

“Love Me” sees FROM ASHES TO NEW seamlessly evolve, while clinging tightly to the punchy rhymes, walloping choruses, and inventive soundscape architecture that transformed the band from Pennsylvania independent favorites to a Gold-certified international phenomenon who’ve achieved their first No. 1 single with “DRAG ME” (from Reflections) earlier this year.
“Love Me” cuts deep, breaking the skin and inciting true catharsis that’s as catchy as it caustic once the chorus kicks in. You’ll be chanting along to “LOVE ME” after just one listen.
Vocalist Matt Brandyberry states, “‘Love Me’ is about that person who was supposed to be there for you, but they completely vanish, essentially becoming a ghost. You still vividly remember how it felt when they were actually around, to the point where you can still feel their breath on your skin, even though no one is there. This track creates a heavy, haunting atmosphere that mirrors that exact feeling of reaching out for a presence right next to you, only to grasp at empty air. It captures the sheer desperation of watching your own memories turn into a cage that feels impossible to break out of.”
“Love Me” follows the release of their new version of “Die For You,” featuring quarreling alt-pop sister duo Neoni. Since its arrival in August, the collaboration picked up critical acclaim from the likes of Broadway World, antiMusic, Metal Underground, and Rock ‘N’ Load, to name a few.

ARMORED SAINT Presents “Not On Your Life” Visualizer
ARMORED SAINT today presents their visualizer for “Not On Your Life.” The track comes by way of the band’s critically acclaimed new full-length, Emotion Factory Reset, released earlier this year on Metal Blade Records. The kaleidoscopic clip was created by Costin Chioreanu of TWILIGHT13MEDIA.
Comments vocalist John Bush, “The opening lyrics are, ‘You already know my name is John Doe / Yeah you already know but still give it a go.’ I think Phil [Sandoval] had the term, ‘you already know.’ Rhyming, I was, ‘oh, okay, this is cool, like, John Doe.’ There are a couple meanings to it: the cool guy from X is John Doe. It also means that you don’t know who this person is. It led to me thinking in terms of something a little vague, which sometimes I like to do. You already know, yet you don’t know at the same time.
Phil sent me the phrase ‘from dollars to donuts,’ and I got ‘Heavens to Betsy.’ My mom was named Betty, and it’s a little nod to [Bitch vocalist] Betsy Bitch because she’s on Metal Blade. I thought, ‘why not just have a little correlation here.’ It’s a cool, great rock song, and it seems to be some people’s favorite.
The lyrics ‘dollars to donuts’ sounds like something somebody said on the streets of Manhattan in 1950. I also used the phrase ‘lying on the floor in the drunk tank.’ ‘Drunk tank’ is another term people don’t really use in 2026.”

The dawn spectacle launches 11 days and nights packed with over 50 events, in a landmark full precinct takeover at HOTA, Home of the Arts.
From midday performances through to late-night celebrations under the stars, the 2026 festival program includes a mix of free and ticketed works spanning contemporary dance, world premiere theatre commissions, live music, immersive installations and unexpected creative experiences.
BEACON thrums a neon heart by the lake at HOTA, glowing through the night. The landmark immersive installation is a collaboration by global design sensation Morag Myerscough with Gold Coast community arts organisation Everybody Now!
Produced by Experience Gold Coast, the program is set to captivate audiences right up until closing act High Tide, featuring a live psychedelic rock band and a spectacle of jet pack performers taking flight above the HOTA Lake. 100 illuminated puppet jellyfish will descend on the parklands with the celebration continuing under the stars with a family-friendly rave on the Live Music Stage.
Highlights over the 11 days include free powerhouse performances on the Outdoor Stage by Lady Blackbird and Electric Fields, and NZ chart-toppers SIX60 which is set to sell out. A dedicated free live music stage at the HOTA Lake Precinct across the festival with local headliners Tijuana Cartel and Blind Corners, as well as new dance-theatre work No One Gets Out of Here Alive by The Farm.
HOTA Gallery will explode with colour, culture and sound including Japanese sound artist ASUNA’s 100 Keyboards, and free installations by local artists Claudio Kirac, Mellisa Gillbert and Sarah Huston. While the Basement will transform into Club Peroxide, a free club experience over the opening weekend, immersing audiences in the festival’s own rave scene, following performances of internation dance sensation The Butterfly Who Flew Into The Rave, by NZ’s Oli Matheson.
“Every great city in the world has a strong arts and cultural heartbeat,’’ said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.
“BLEACH delivers that energetic pulse for the Gold Coast in so many ways. The beauty of this festival is its ability to reimagine itself with new program attractions, artists and events.
“Attracting a broader audience, especially among youth, gives BLEACH renewed vibrancy and sends a strong national message about the Gold Coast’s commitment to arts and culture. Make a date with BLEACH this year and be prepared to be amazed.’’
Member for Surfers Paradise John-Paul Langbroek MP said BLEACH Festival was another reason for visitors to experience Queensland this spring.
“BLEACH puts the Gold Coast on centre stage, attracting visitors and showcasing one of Queensland’s most iconic destinations,” Mr Langbroek said.
“More than 58,000 people are expected to attend the festival over 11 days, including thousands from out of region, injecting more than $1 million into the local economy and supporting local jobs and businesses.
“The Crisafulli Government is backing events that drive visitation, grow local economies and cement Queensland as Australia’s events capital.”
Experience Gold Coast Head of Arts and Culture, John Kotzas AM said the 2026 program is a proud celebration of local, national and international talent.
“This year’s program is bursting with new local commissions, world premieres by national companies, Queensland exclusives and stunning community-engaged works. BLEACH Festival 2026 puts HOTA and the Gold Coast on the map as a place to see and experience art and performance at the cutting edge.”

KINGS OF LEON RELEASE NEW TRACK “COLD BLUE DAWN” FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM, O MY BELOVED
BAND TEAMS UP WITH THE WEATHER CHANNEL FOR FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND LYRIC VIDEO; WATCH HERE
Multi-platinum-selling rock band Kings of Leon has released their new track, “Cold Blue Dawn,” from their forthcoming 10th studio album, O My Beloved, arriving November 6 via Love Tap Records, distributed by Virgin Music. Pre-order, pre-add and pre-save album HERE.
The release is accompanied by a first-of-its-kind lyric video created in partnership with The Weather Channel, the consumer brand of The Weather Company. Built entirely from the Earth itself, the visual utilizes satellite imagery from NASA’s historic Landsat program to spell out every word of the song using the natural contours of rivers, coastlines, farmland, and mountain ranges. Watch the video HERE. Stream the song HERE.
The collaboration grew out of an organic mutual admiration between Kings of Leon and The Weather Channel after the company created a viral clip of weather formations set to the band’s song “Pyro.” The band embraced the clip, reposting it to their own channels, and the exchange ultimately sparked the idea to bring the two worlds together for the “Cold Blue Dawn” lyric video.
By using NASA’s Landsat typography, the video offers a stunning macro-lens view of the globe before executing a deliberate narrative shift. Midway through, the perspective transitions from sweeping space-bound views to intimate, archival footage of the band out in the elements, bringing the vastness of the natural world down to a human scale.
This intentional transition highlights the profound role weather plays in shaping our daily lives and core memories. Beyond the headline-grabbing storms, weather is core to our most cherished moments—the clear blue skies, the warmth of an afternoon sun, and the shared outdoor experiences that bring people together.
“My family was already die-hard Weather Channel followers,” said lead singer Caleb Followill. “So we saw what they did with our song immediately and thought it was beautiful. We learned they were making music a larger part of what they do and we reached out immediately to try and do something together. They have been super cool to work with, and we hope this unlikely partnership keeps going because it makes a lot of sense to us.”
“Weather isn’t the backdrop to our lives, it’s part of the story. It shapes the moments we remember, the places we love and the experiences that connect us, much like music,” said Rohit Agarwal, CEO of The Weather Company. He continued, “This collaboration with Kings of Leon brings that idea to life in a completely new way, using science and creativity to remind us just how extraordinary it is to experience the world around us.”
The project seamlessly merges scientific history, artistic expression, and a celebration of our connection to nature.
“Cold Blue Dawn” is the latest glimpse into Kings of Leon’s forthcoming album, O My Beloved. The album is available to pre-order, pre-add and pre-save HERE. With O My Beloved, Kings of Leon deliver their most intimate and unguarded record to date, a collection of tracks that reflect on the people, experiences and journey that brought them to where they are today. Their first full-length self-produced album, the record brings their collective creative vision fully to life, resulting in a deeply personal sound that feels distinctly their own.
MOGWAI SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘UNDERGROUND (FEAT. IGGY POP)’
ANNOUNCE CAREER-SPANNING COLLECTION, HAPPY TEARS
Mogwai announce a new 30-year, career-spanning compilation Happy Tears, heralded by the release of a pulverising brand new song ‘Underground’ featuring the legendary Iggy Pop, out now. Happy Tears is set for release on January 8, 2027 via the band’s self-owned and run record label, Rock Action Records.
The new compilation will be available in 2xLP and 4xLP versions, as well as 2xCD and digital download, the special 4xLP edition of the collection featuring 13 additional tracks – six of which are previously unreleased, alongside two remixes, two live tracks and three rarities.
In his book Spaceships Over Glasgow: Mogwai, Mayhem and Misspent Youth, Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite writes of how Iggy – solo and with his band The Stooges – is a defining artist in his life: “Hearing the Stooges had been a life-changing moment for me. Their self-titled album was pretty much my bible. It was druggy, dumb and completely primal. I’d never heard anything quite like it and even though that band had pretty much fallen apart by the time I was born, I grew to love the three Stooges albums as much as any music I’d heard. I had a VHS video of Iggy playing live and I watched it over and over. His performance was unlike anything or anyone I’d seen before. The spectacle was great but it was his voice and songs that really captured me.”
Speaking about their collaboration, Iggy Pop says: “I’ve always liked Mogwai. The opening of the track reminded me of the crushing modern loneliness. The sung vocal, which was arranged by Matt Sweeney, felt like it was made for someone who is pissed off and doesn’t mind saying so.”
As with their debut single ‘Tuner’ in 1996, Happy Tears is being released via the band’s self-owned and run record label Rock Action Records, also celebrating its 30 year anniversary this year. Alongside the new single, Happy Tears features highlights and rarities from across the band’s discography, including a previous digital only single and a special new re-working of ‘New Paths to Helicon 1’, titled ‘Brand New Paths to Helicon 1,’ featuring the Budapest Art Orchestra, orchestrated by Adam Wiltize (A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Stars Of The Lid).
“I never thought we’d be making 11 records, because hardly any bands I liked ever did. We’re doing it being weirdo Scottish instrumental misery mongers. Like, yeah, that’s pretty wild.’”
– Stuart Braithwaite in Happy Tears: The Story of Mogwai
Alongside the new collection, Mogwai have teamed up with creative studio Cup & Nuzzle (Transmissions: The Definitive Story Of Joy Division And New Order) for a new feature-length audio documentary Happy Tears: The Story of Mogwai, telling the band’s story in their own words for the first time. Narrated by Cup & Nuzzle founder and BBC 6 Music presenter Matt Everitt, Happy Tears: The Story of Mogwai is an oral history of three decades of inspiration, independence, music and friendship. The documentary is also released January 8, 2027 and available for pre-order now as part of the Happy Tears deluxe bundle as a 2.5-hour audio file or as a standalone download.
The release follows Mogwai’s 11th studio album The Bad Fire, released last year to considerable critical acclaim. Produced by John Congleton (St Vincent, Angel Olsen, John Grant) at Chem19 studios in Blantyre, Scotland, the album features the singles ‘Lion Rumpus’, ‘God Gets You Back’ and ‘Fanzine Made Of Flesh’.
To celebrate the record’s release and the band’s 30th anniversary, the band brought their expansive live show back to Australian stages in May this year, selling out shows across Sydney Opera House for Vivid LIVE, Naarm/Melbourne’s Forum and Meanjin/Brisbane’s QPAC.
About Rock Action Records
While it may have originally started as a way for the band to release their own music, Rock Action, like Mogwai, the band that birthed it, has continued to grow and thrive, and has since become a successful home for a diverse range of artists, whilst remaining fiercely independent.
From the very beginning the label has operated with an ethos that not only reflects the independent spirit of its owners but chimes with the DIY scene that has defined Glasgow through the eras, and made it one of the most celebrated musical cities in the world. Rock Action has gone on to release more than 150 records from local and international artists, and supported notable Scottish independent acts including Arab Strap, The Twilight Sad, Kathryn Joseph, Cloth, Sacred Paws, Errors and Remember Remember.
The label is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a string of special events and limited edition merch releases; follow their social media accounts for further information.

SPIKE F*CK SHARES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO, ‘GETTING SOBER’
DEBUT ALBUM EVIDENCE OUT THIS FRIDAY OCTOBER 2 VIA SACRED BONES RECORDS
Spike F*ck shares new single and video, ‘GETTING SOBER’, lifted from debut album evidence out this Friday October 2 via Sacred Bones Records (David Lynch, Suicide, Molchat Doma). To celebrate the release, Spike F*ck kicks off his six-date Australian tour this weekend, starting in Sydney on release day Friday, October 2, before heading to Brisbane on Saturday, October 3, and Yours & Owls on Sunday, October 4.
On his final single, ‘GETTING SOBER’, Spike reflects and analyses his battle of addiction and road to recovery alongside a compelling video which was directed by co-creator Dylan Marriott.
Spike shares on “GETTING SOBER”:
“Heroin saved my life. Drugs are a great solution. But of course, an exceptionally unsustainable one.
But addiction is merely a symptom rather than a cause of life’s ills. Though, its consequences certainly don’t help things. “A solution to what?” you might ask… to a cavernous, insatiable black hole never satisfied by anything or anyone.
If I didn’t have heroin for a certain period in my life, when existence was simply too painful to bear, I believe I would’ve resorted to more drastic (and permanent) action. But as it was, it still stole ten years from me… which I didn’t expect when I first tried it. But I do owe it a debt of gratitude also. That I must admit.
Now, I’m aware that this may perhaps seem in bad taste to admit… and is exactly why addiction is so tricky.
You take someone who has always felt psychologically and spiritually dislocated from the world around them, and tell them to do away with their one reliable saving grace. Whether in the form of a substance or booze or compulsive gambling, sex or in strictly managing one’s eating habits. Whatever it is, it is often the one thing to date that has brought order to the utter chaos of their lives. Then you tell them the truth: “if you don’t stop, you will die.”
So what then? Can you substitute the self-destructive behaviour with some healthy habits? Are there any tips and tricks known to man that will grant freedom from this devouring beast? And even grant a sense of normalcy? Is the person even ready to admit that it’s bad for them to begin with? And even if they are able to get clear of it for a period, how long will they be able to stay away from it until inevitably returning to their old ways?
Our lives are built on patterns.
I may be eight years clean from heroin but I still struggle under the weight of those more trenchant bad habits or vices that serve to numb me from the various forms of pain in this life. I don’t know the answer exactly (clearly) but I do know whatever would lead a person to give up such a prized possession must be something no short of earth shattering and truly and profoundly life changing… something utterly transcendent.
Nothing short of the idea of God, I suppose…
“THERE IS A SOLUTION!” the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous declares in big, bold letters.
And, of course, the solution is spiritual… I just don’t feel like it right now.”
For ten years, Spike F*ck has existed more as a messy myth than an artist; sporadic works forever poised on the precipice of triumph, rumours of death or insanity and so on. His Smackwave EP (Partisan), now a decade old and certified cult classic, was aptly censored by media outlets. The release addressed themes as literal as the title suggests; drug use, gender identity, Catholicism and existentialism.
The enigmatic and storied artist recently reemerged from a period of recovery and self-realisation with word of his highly awaited debut album, evidence, and new label home Sacred Bones. Over the years, Spike’s devotion to his music persevered, somewhat bolstered by his inconsistency and inaccessibility. This goodwill towards his artistry is perhaps partly due to Spike’s timeless, pained and confessional lyricism, though more pointedly, the fragility of a life mired in addiction. His being or works does not question the virtue of life, but simply addresses the numb, pragmatic and far more immediate matter of surviving another day, an almost ineffable sentiment only justified by his distinct, poetic audaciousness.
Debut album, evidence is a brazen proof of life statement. Convicted by the outlandish idea of evidencing a ‘you had to be there’ mentality, the record honours presence in body, a record to be felt, never to be rationalised. On evidence, Spike shares, “this record is carnal and confident. I wanted to approach songwriting in the same way a director shooting a slasher film does. Get to the point and make people feel it all. I want this record to cut like a sharp knife”.
evidence isn’t forthcoming in providing explanations of Spike’s absence. It isn’t a tell-all collection of songs about obsession, guilt, nor is it a document of the subsequent transformation, or enlightenment. Spike’s prior fixations on the questions of man or woman, drug addict or ascetic, trickster or rockstar, have driven an unmitigated pursuit of knowing a ‘true self’. This pursuit is no longer his chief concern, nor is he plagued by over conceptualisation of who he is but simply, when he is. This is Spike F*ck and this is evidence.
While plans had been in motion to release his now-shelved, ‘original’ debut record, Pure O, Spike was gripped by an insatiable urge to complete and present evidence, now set as his first full-length, and label debut with Sacred Bones. Written and recorded in 3 months alongside producer Adam Hyde (Keli Holiday), the record is informed by the realisation he could not think his way into a state of emotion, only graduate into it; a process outside his control. There was a desire to evidence the mix of frustration, confusion and resentment; all too familiar feelings Spike had tried in vain to repress.
Citing Pere Ubu, New York Dolls, The Temptations and Bettye Swan as key influences, and inspired by the banned 1971 manual, The Anarchist Cookbook, Spike sought to create something unsettling and perplexing, yet simple. It’s a rush to listen to.
evidence is an album that lives outside the limits of discourse; its purpose is eponymous and self-evident. It is what it is, and is subject to interpretation. There is no point in interrogating attachments, virtue or value. The only rightful way to live is to be.
Alongside the album news, Spike F*ck announced a six-date national tour kicking off in Eora / Sydney on release day Friday, October 2, before hitting Meanjin/Brisbane, Walyalup/Fremantle, Yours & Owls Festival in Woolyungah/Wollongong, Tarntanya/Adelaide and Naarm/Melbourne. The tour then rolls on to a mammoth twenty three-date European and UK tour beginning October 23. In addition to the national tour, Spike F*ck has also been announced on the lineup for Meredith Festival 2026, marking his homecoming. Tickets are on sale now.

EM HUDD SHARES IRRESISTIBLE NEW POP SINGLE ‘BUT, I WANT YOU’, CO-WRITTEN WITH CODY SIMPSON
WATCH: EM HUDD – BUT, I WANT YOU (FT. CODY SIMPSON) LIVE
Emerging Australian pop artist Em Hudd steps confidently into her next chapter with new single ‘But, I Want You’, co-written with Cody Simpson after he discovered Em and her music online.
A groove-driven pop track about recognising that no amount of attention, success or possibility can compete with a genuine connection, ‘But, I Want You’ captures the feeling of knowing you could have anyone or anything – but still choosing the same person every time.
Bright, playful and instantly infectious, the track explores all the exciting things life can put in front of you – money, attention, success and endless options – and the realisation that none of it means as much as being with the person you truly love.
“It’s about realising that no matter how many exciting things life puts in front of you, whether that’s attention, money, success or options, none of it compares to a genuine connection with the person you truly love. It’s that feeling of knowing you could have anyone or anything but you’d still choose them every time.”
The collaboration came about after Cody Simpson discovered Em online, eventually bringing the pair into the studio together to write ‘But, I Want You’. For Em, the experience became one of the most formative creative moments of her career so far.
“I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever learnt so much in such a short amount of time. Harrison Borts made the whole experience so much fun and has such an incredible ear, and working with Cody was honestly a bit surreal. He made me feel completely comfortable and taught me so much. I felt completely inspired watching him do his thing.
I actually had a moment in the studio where I got a little teary thinking about how crazy it was to go from growing up knowing his music to now sitting beside him writing a song together. It’s an experience I’ll genuinely never forget and one of the most special moments of my career so far.”
Produced by Harrison Borts, ‘But, I Want You’ pairs Em’s charismatic vocal delivery with polished, groove-led pop production, showcasing an artist becoming increasingly confident in her sound and songwriting.
The release is accompanied by a live performance video featuring Cody Simpson, bringing the collaboration full circle and capturing the chemistry behind the song in an intimate live setting.
‘But, I Want You’ marks another exciting step forward for Em Hudd, showcasing a young artist sharpening her sound, backing her instincts and building a pop identity that feels increasingly all her own.

TELENOVA SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘HAPPY’
REGIONAL TASMANIA AND VICTORIA TOUR IN NOVEMBER
TICKETS HERE
SUPPORTING SPACEY JANE’S AUSTRALIAN TOUR IN DECEMBER
TICKETS HERE
Telenova today return with ‘Happy’, the first new music since their sophomore album ‘THE WARNING’ released in February 2026. The release comes ahead of the band’s regional tour dates in Tasmania and Victoria in November, as well as a national Spacey Jane support this December, including shows at the iconic Sydney Opera House Forecourt.
Emerging from the confessional unease of ‘THE WARNING’, ‘Happy’ is part optimism, part desperation, all yearning. Co-written and co-produced with Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Mallrat, Foster The People) and mixed by Cameron Parkin, ‘Happy’ pairs the heart of a ’60s Motown ballad with the dark, melancholic sheen of noughties Scandinavian pop. Building around the aching refrain “I just want to be happy”, the track gives voice to the simple, universal desire to feel happiness in a world of growing uncertainty.
“Despite the tough exteriors, the ‘having it together’, the nonchalant facades that a lot of us out there wear, we’re all masking hurts, disappointments, insecurities at times.” explains frontwoman Angeline Armstrong “‘Happy’ is a bit of a ‘heart cry’, we wanted to give voice to what a lot of people in this world are feeling in a very real and simple way”
‘Happy’ arrives accompanied by a new visualiser directed by Angeline.
ABOUT TELENOVA
A tapestry of dark romanticism, slick musicianship and vivid aesthetics have fuelled Melbourne outfit Telenova since their debut EP Tranquilize in 2021. Powered by the ubiquitous lead single Bones, plus the sweeping sonics of follow-up EP Stained Glass Love, the band have quickly cultivated a passionate following home and abroad, and were named Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year at the 2022 AIR Awards.
Debut album Time Is A Flower, was released in 2024 to wide acclaim, debuting at #2 on ARIA Australian Album charts. The glittering record showcased the trio’s distinct brand of sleek, cinematic alt-pop, exploring themes of faith, hope, pain and beauty in the details of everyday life.
Sophomore album THE WARNING followed in February 2026, pushing the trio’s cinematic alt-pop into darker, more exposed territory. Written during a period of intense personal flux, the bold and sonically adventurous record explores the tension between anxiety and hope, capturing the realities of life on the road, deepening creative bonds and the beauty that can break through in periods of struggle.
With multiple national tours and major festival appearances across Australia and Europe, including sold out shows in London, Berlin and Athens, plus supports for girl in red, St Vincent and RUEL, the trio has become a revered live act. Accolades have followed the group since their inception, including the 2022 AIR Breakthrough Artist award, multiple music video awards and an appearance on the Triple J Hottest 100.
The distinctive universe of Telenova – shadowy, sample driven songs with prominent trip-hop and electronica influence, plus a touch of playful energy – is the design of lead vocalist, songwriter and filmmaker Filipino-Australian Angeline Armstrong and multi-instrumentalists Edward Quinn and Joshua Moriarty.

OLIVIA LAY’ LIVING LIFE LIKE IT’S ART’ (SINGLE)
‘Living Life like it’s Art’ is a country-folk, acoustic-roots tune taking listeners on a journey while instilling a sense of uplift and nostalgia.
With lyrics following the process of writing a song while out in nature, the tune is carried by a catchy melody performed on guitar and banjo.
Recorded in Bruthen, Regional Victoria, Olivia embraces a new direction in this upbeat, multi-genre production while staying true to her acoustic, storytelling roots.
ABOUT OLIVIA LAY
Olivia Lay is a singer/songwriter from Gippsland, Australia, known for her compelling guitar playing and storytelling inspired by the likes of John Mayer, John Butler and Newton Faulkner.
Some of her career highlights include supporting Thirsty Merc, Ruby Fields, Nathan Cavaleri, Ross Wilson, the Rubens and Daniel Champagne, as well as performing at the National Folk Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, NYE on the Hill Festival, and St Kilda Blues Festival.
Her performances comprise intricate guitar techniques such as right hand tapping and percussive guitar, complimenting her profound lyricism and melodies, with her genre ranging from folk to blues and roots to alternative, to country and a bit of something you can’t quite put your finger on.
With three albums under her belt already Olivia is working hard and forging a name for herself in the Australian music scene.
DUBLIN’S DAOIRÍ FARRELL BRINGS HIS WORLD TOUR DOWN UNDER
Dublin singer and bouzouki virtuoso Daoirí Farrell is heading back to Australian stages in February and March 2027, as part of his extensive world tour that also takes in Ireland, WOMEX in Gran Canaria, the UK, and a headline performance with the Tonkünstler Orchestra at Vienna’s famed Musikverein.
Mark Radcliffe, presenter of BBC Radio 2’s Folk Show, called Farrell “the real deal” when he first appeared on the show in 2016. Within a year he’d walked away from The Royal Albert Hall with two BBC Folk Awards for his breakthrough album True Born Irishman. Folk Radio UK went further still: “He has the best Irish traditional voice currently around; if there’s better, I’ve yet to hear it.”
A product of Dublin’s famed An Góilin Traditional Singers club, Farrell has spent the past decade cementing his place as one of the most important voices to emerge from Ireland in a generation.
Christy Moore has said Farrell “has assumed the mantle of Luke Kelly” the legendary Irish folk singer; while Dónal Lunny, with whom Farrell has performed and recorded, calls him “one of the most important traditional singers to emerge in the last decade.” Closer to home, The Weekend Australian rated him “the finest Irish male folk singer-storyteller this side of Christy Moore and Paul Brady”.
Since that last Australian tour, Farrell’s global standing has only grown. He has taken the stage at Celtic Connections, the National Concert Hall in Dublin and the main stage at Cambridge Folk Festival, toured the UK with the Transatlantic Sessions, joined Lúnasa as guest vocalist across the USA, and even sung live on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme.
Now that momentum carries him back to Australia. Highlights of the world tour either side of the Australian leg include a showcase slot for the Daoirí Farrell Trio at WOMEX in Gran Canaria, and, come spring 2027, a performance at Vienna’s Musikverein with the Tonkünstler Orchestra playing new orchestral arrangements — by Gast Waltzing — of songs from across Farrell’s catalogue.
For Australian audiences, though, it’s a chance to experience up close what critics keep circling back to: authenticity. As Irish Music put it, “Daoirí Farrell is singlehandedly spearheading a resurgence of the authentic in Irish folk music… he is rightly in demand all over the world.”

KEVIN SULLIVAN ‘GIVE ME A STORY’ (ALBUM)
Acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter Kevin Sullivan has announced the official release of his highly anticipated third studio Album, Give Me A Story, arriving on 30th September 2026.
Renowned for his unique ability to capture the raw essence of Australian life, people, and culture, Sullivan’s latest body of work is a masterclass in musical storytelling. It serves as a sonic map of his extensive travels through outback Australia, deeply enriched by powerful, cross-cultural collaborations with First Nations artist Stuart Joel Nuggett.
Together, Sullivan and Nuggett have forged a deep brotherhood, co-writing three pivotal tracks for this record, including the feature track, “Give Me A Story” the charting hit “I’m Barred Again” and the deeply moving single “Elliott”.
The title track to Kevin Sullivan’s third album, is a song called “Give Me A Story”. It’s a unifying song and a resounding anthem for troubled times.
Nuggett and Sullivan both had the desire to create a song that would not divide but unite. The result is a true expression of both acceptance and coalescing of people and groups for a common goal, for all Australians to be ”together as one”. This is visually enhanced by the music video which captures the essence and heart of Australia, both through its breathtaking landscape and its theme of unity and shared stories of Australians from multicultural backgrounds.
Sullivan and Nuggett were inspired to write “I’m barred again” because of their love of country music, drinking and having a good time. This song is right at home in an Australian Pub or an American Honky Tonk or Bar with its Toby Keith feel. This song was also co-written with Kevin’s son, KJ Sullivan. It was his first foray into songwriting and the architect of the signature guitar riff.
Kevin Sullivan is a renowned rhythm player, and his driving acoustic guitar sound is a signature element and common thread across all of his music. When you hear his distinct introduction to “Elliott”, Sullivan’s energy transports you to the dusty streets of the Northern Territory red centre. “Elliott” features Nuggett singing beautifully in his native Jingili tongue, providing a powerful statement on the vital preservation of Indigenous language and cultural heritage.
Sullivan then brings you home to your little pot of gold with the next track, “Our Piece of the Map”. A larrikin typically Australian yarn, co-written with South Australian singer/songwriter Peter Santella, this song is a celebration of why “Our Piece of the Map” is so important to us.
The next two tracks, shift the energy of the album with a light hearted detour, that weaves humour and stories you hope are true. Sulli-van’s lyrical ability and entertaining skills, captivate audiences with the songs “Louanne” and “Spend the kids inheritance” combined with the unique music compositions.
The depth of Sullivan’s song writing is captured in his final track, the Anzac Day song, “Pilgrimage”. This song was written before Sullivan embarked on his year long tour around Australia with his family during Covid. The haunting song was inspired by Kevin’s pilgrimage to Gallipoli and Anzac Cove for the 100 year commemoration. Sullivan believes his two career defining tracks are “Pilgrimage and “Give Me A Story” and for this reason he wanted to start and finish this Album with these songs and stories.
Sullivan, a former police forensic crime scene investigator who turned to music to heal from PTSD, has spent the last several years living on the road. Alongside his family band, The Sulli-Vans, he has covered over 250,000 kilometres.
The Album “Give Me A Story” was recorded by ARIA award winning Producer Matt Fell in Nashville, Sydney and in his Wilder Tasmania studios. It’s been a six year journey with Matt Fell, who has encouraged Sullivan’s artistic diversity and vision. The album was Mastered by Grammy Award winner William Bowden who has been invaluable as part of Sullivan’s story.
Following the massive chart success of his previous #1 ARIA country album Threeways, Give Me A Story promises to deliver an emotionally charged, collaborative listening experience that honours Australia’s rich, shared heritage.

SPANISH LOVE SONGS ANNOUNCE SINGLE DOOM TRIPPING OUT NOW
ALBUM FUTURE NAUSEA OUT NOVEMBER 6 VIA PURE NOISE RECORDS
SPANISH LOVE SONGS have released new single Doom Tripping, taken from their forthcoming full-length FUTURE NAUSEA. The record, which is produced by ex-Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla (Tegan and Sara, Foxing) and Illuminati Hotties’ Sarah Tudzin (Boygenius, Kississippi), is set for release on November 6 via Pure Noise Records.
“This song is my attempt to make a shimmering pop song that evokes how it feels to be inside my brain right now,” says Dylan Slocum. “I wrote a good chunk of it while I had to taper off antidepressants for awhile and started suffering from severe vertigo and the return of symptoms that had previously made me lose my voice for 3 months.”
“Meredith and I often joke about glitches in the simulation. This song is entirely made up of these glitches. Moments in life so surreal they made me go “what the hell is happening?”. That exasperation defines a lot of my life these days.”
“But it’s ultimately a song about not giving up. It’s about recognizing this all might be a bad trip, hoping it’ll be over soon, and clinging to the idea of building something better when it’s done.”
Heartland rock has long been built on nostalgia, soft-focus vignettes of hometowns, wide-open interstates and the mythology of an America that may or may not have ever existed. FUTURE NAUSEA borrows the genre’s widescreen sonic ambition while rejecting one of its defining traits: Rather than looking backward for comfort, the album fixes its gaze squarely on what’s to come – not with optimism but with the uneasy certainty that tomorrow may prove even more difficult than today.
Spanish Love Songs will embark on The National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) first-ever “Live Independent Tour” certification tour this November. The band’s 19-city tour will visit independent venues exclusively. NIVA developed the groundbreaking initiative to elevate and safeguard independent venues, promoters, and festivals nationwide.
The band have backed that ethos for their recently announced EU and UK run, where each show will have a limited number of “Cost of Living” tickets which will be €20 / £20.
Spanish Love Songs is Dylan Slocum, Meredith Van Woert, Kyle McAulay, Ruben Duarte and Mike Trujillo

Afro-Australian producer and multi-instrumentalist FUTURE ROOTS Announces New EP ‘Mangala’
Releases First Single, “Yiriba”
Mangala is the new project and EP (16th Oct) led by pioneering Afro-Australian producer and multi-instrumentalist Zhonu “Nui” Moon Mzali (Future Roots), featuring artists and players from across West Africa, mainly Mali, and Australia where balafons, ngonis, and djembes pulse and resonate against a drum-coded backdrop, creating a fluid time travel from when ancient Mandinga rhythms and culture pulsed, to present day.
Recorded on site at Stern Studios in Bamako and featuring a raft of Malian artists, the new 5-track EP began in 2024, when Nui tread new paths in the search for his African roots, leading him to collaborate and record in Mali’s capital, Bamako, one of Africa’s musical behemoths. The EP was subsequently completed at Nui’s studio back in Melbourne. The recordings are super-energised, leaning into Afrobeats and house with the aim of paying homage to the ancient Malian roots while stepping into the future.
The first track to be lifted from the EP is Yiriba featuring Hawa Maiga on vocals, Zoumana Diawara on ngoni, Kalifa Kone on balafon and Nui threading it all together with various electronic interfaces – MPC, Roland Juno, Korg Triton – as well as leading on percussion. It’s a homage to the wonder baobab tree in Mali, which in turn honours the importance of our elders and how we must listen to them, learn from them, and preserve what they pass on to us: our traditions, our culture, our history, and the values of our ancestors.
The inspiration for these recordings and exploring the musical kingdom of Mali had been a long time in the making for Nui, having studied the intricate polyrhythmic drum patterns of West Africa and spent years listening to and collecting old records from Mali’s rich musical history.
Nui consolidates the purpose and meaning of Mangala,
“My strength in music comes from a desire to bring people together in a collective experience and space, spreading a positive frequency in a vehicle of music. In my ancestry, as we held on the shoulders of ones that came before us both. To be as best I can, a bridge between tradition and technology. To leave a legacy of creation and community, not only destruction and distraction in this human experience..It is my mission as an artist” .
Zhono “Nui” Moon Mzali, AKA Future Roots
Future Roots view of the world and the music he makes has been strongly influenced by his upbringing in Australia and India by his Moroccan/Ghanian father and Australian mother, travelling across Asia, Africa the Middle East and Europe in his formative years, time spent in his ancestral homeland of North and West Africa, as well as his connection to traditional and emerging cultures closer to home in the Australasian/Pacific region. The music played by Future Roots reflects a rich life journey. It draws directly from his experiences of travelling, connecting with diverse cultures and immersing himself in different ways of life through music. These experiences weave a tapestry that produces a sound both distinctive and universal. Some of Zhonu’s performance credits include live performances and/or recordings with international music icons Femi and Seun Kuti, Mulatu Astake, Ebo Taylor, Yothu Yindi, Sampa the Great, Bombino, Horace Andy, Scientist, the Congos and Carl Cox, among others.
Hawa Maiga
Mangala’s featured vocalist, Hawa, hails from Mali’s Songhai people. She sings in both the Songhai and Mandinka languages, mastering traditional and folkloric songs as well as developing her own compositions. From the city of Gao by the River Niger, Hawa showed artistic talent at a young age and was entrusted to the tutelage of musical maestro Boncana Maiga. She went on to study at the National Institute of Arts in Bamako. Afterwards, she performed with the “Instrumental Ensemble of Mali”, a state-run repository of griot traditions, lore and culture. She has released popular singles and collaborations under her own name in Mali and toured throughout Africa, performing at many international festivals. Mangala is her latest collaboration.

KINCADE STEVENS ‘MONEY, FAME, FORTUNE’ (SINGLE)
What happens when you mix a Buddhist proverb with Spaghetti Western guitars and a dash of country-funk? You get “Money, Fame, Fortune,” the high-octane new single from Kincade Stevens.
The track is a sonic shapeshifter. It opens with a soaring Hammond B3 melody before diving headfirst into a gritty, baritone guitar riff that feels pulled straight from a Sergio Leone soundtrack—before finally rocking out to a relentless 4-on-the-floor pulse.
To achieve this witches’ brew, Stevens stepped out of his comfort zone, handing the production reins to acclaimed Blue Mountains multi-instrumentalist Josh Schuberth (known for his work with Josh Pyke, Alex Lloyd, and Shane Nicholson) at Fireswap Studios.
“I wanted to see what would happen if I handed the keys to someone I trusted,” Stevens says. “The result is bigger and wilder than anything I could have built alone. We’ve got percussion layers, Western-cowboy atmosphere, and balls out rock-and-roll energy.”
The track features a powerhouse performance by 2026 Grammy nominee Michael Cleveland, whose “fiddle fireworks” provide a virtuosic counterpoint to Schuberth’s sonic backdrop.
Lyrically the song draws on the Buddhist “Noble Truth” of ‘dhukka,’ the idea that desire is the cause of suffering.
“It’s an idea that really resonates with me”. Says Stevens. “I think we all fundamentally know we can’t find happiness in anything outside ourselves, but we never stop chasing that validation. I kind of wrote this song as a reminder to myself.”
MORE ABOUT KINCADE STEVENS
Kincade Stevens’ musical path winds through unexpected territory. He grew up in western Sydney, raised on the classic country storytelling of Alan Jackson, Clint Black and the soaring harmonies of the Eagles.
Later he would discover the raw authenticity of Americana outliers that became his major influences: Grant Lee Buffalo, The Jayhawks, and Richard Buckner. Add to that the anthemic, sing-along spirit of Australian rock—Hunters & Collectors, Crowded House—and you have the foundation of Stevens’ distinctive sound.
During the COVID lockdowns, Stevens channeled isolation into creativity, writing an album’s worth of country songs that kept burrowing around his brain. “I wasn’t sure I’d ever release anything” says Stevens.
Those sessions became the catalyst for his debut album The Defeatist, co-produced with Nashville’s Caleb Hardin over zoom sessions and featuring world-class session players from across the globe.
His first single “Pride” tells the story of the highs and lows of lfe over a lost Tom Petty melody and multi layered harmonies with his sisters.
His latest single “One Track Mind” pairs Stevens’ blend of traditional country heart with alt-country edge, brought to life in a cinematic video directed by Nathan Burney of Burning Pictures and shot at the historic NSW Rail Museum.
ASHES OF AUTUMN RELEASE NEW MUSIC VIDEO ‘BURN’
Ashes of Autumn have unveiled the official music video for ‘Burn’ ahead of the release of their highly anticipated album, The Darker Side of Now, arriving October 9 via Golden Robot Records.
A fiery and unapologetic track, ‘Burn’ explores the moment when holding on is no longer worth the effort – and letting go becomes its own kind of freedom.
The version featured on The Darker Side of Now is a completely revamped take on an older Ashes of Autumn song. When vocalist and songwriter Melanie Flynn and drummer/producer Stefan Helbo began considering material for the album, ‘Burn’ repeatedly came up in conversation.
Rather than simply revisit the original, the band chose to give it a complete facelift, resulting in a track with a new energy and attitude. The track also features the explosive guitar work of renowned Swedish guitarist and producer Tommy Denander, whose contribution adds another level of intensity to the reimagined song.
“I’m so glad we did, because this version has an energy all of its own,” says Flynn. “Tommy’s playing is frikken wild on this track!”
Watch the music video for ‘Burn’ HERE
Originally written during a period of frustration with people, situations and fractured relationships, ‘Burn’ channels the feeling of reaching the point where certain things have simply run their course.
“There are times when you fight to hold things together, and then there are times when you realise you’re actually okay with watching them burn away to nothing.” That sentiment sits perfectly within the broader world of The Darker Side of Now, an album built around deeply personal experiences of trauma, loss, fear, mental health, connection and the process of moving forward.
With the release of ‘Burn’, Ashes of Autumn offer another glimpse into the emotional and sonic landscape of The Darker Side of Now – an album that refuses to shy away from the darker experiences that shape us.
The official music video for ‘Burn’ is out now. The Darker Side of Now releases October 9, and is available for pre-save.
Pre-save The Darker Side of Now HERE
ABOUT ASHES OF AUTUMN
Formed in 2019, Ashes of Autumn have carved out a place in the Australian rock scene with their blend of emotional depth, melodic strength and hard-rock grit, earning festival appearances and high-profile support slots along the way.
The arrival of drummer and producer Stefan Helbo in 2023 sparked a powerful creative partnership with vocalist and songwriter Melanie Flynn, becoming the driving force behind the band’s next chapter.
Together, they created The Darker Side of Now – an immersive project exploring adversity, trauma, loss, mental health, resilience and hope. Rather than presenting the album as a single release, Ashes of Autumn are unfolding it chapter by chapter, pairing each song with cinematic visuals and documentary-style content that offers an intimate look into the stories behind the music.
With international collaborators including guitarist and producer Tommy Denander, mixer Matt Dougherty and mastering engineer Elliot James Mulhern, The Darker Side of Now delivers a powerful fusion of melodic rock, heavier elements and cinematic storytelling.
Now signed to Golden Robot Records, Ashes of Autumn are preparing to take their music and message to international audiences, delivering an intensely energetic live experience led by Flynn’s powerhouse vocals and a commitment to making listeners feel seen, understood and less alone.

‘Stormwatcher’ has a maritime theme, based around a ship stuck in a storm, accompanied by a dramatic animated video, bringing the lyrics and imagery of vocalist Jørn Lande to life. “It channels something from within, something real,” Lande explains, describing how the lyrics tell a powerful story about struggles and sorrow as life voyages from birth to death, and beyond. “We are the captain of our own vessel, a ship crashing through unknown and sometimes challenging waters, always navigating forward, steering steady through every storm, driven by dreams of new horizons and longing for something new.”
One of numerous highlights from the remarkable album, From The Dark, ‘Stormwatcher’ perfectly captures the dark atmospheres and yearning passions that permeate the record. Tony Iommi is joined throughout by Lande, who shares writing credits on all songs, as well as bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil.
Co-produced by Tony and Mike Exeter, his long-time creative partner, co-writer, producer and audio engineer, it is an outstanding album that sits proudly within the impressive Iommi catalogue.
