Timeless. Revolutionary. Chameleon.
Few artists in the history of popular music have embodied all three qualities quite like David Bowie. A master of reinvention whose influence stretched across rock, pop, fashion, theatre and visual art, Bowie continually pushed the boundaries of what a modern artist could be. From the glam-rock alien mystique of Ziggy Stardust through to the sleek pop of the 1980s and the experimental electronic explorations of his later years, Bowie remained one of music’s most visionary and transformative figures. Now Australian audiences will have the chance to celebrate that extraordinary legacy when Celebrating David Bowie arrives for a national tour this November.
Celebrating David Bowie is a spectacular salute to everyone’s favourite Starman, a night dedicated to honouring the life, legacy and limitless creativity of the artist who redefined modern music. The show brings together an all-star lineup of vocalists, each bringing their own distinct musical personality to Bowie’s remarkable catalogue. Leading the charge is Jeff Martin, whose powerful voice and theatrical delivery make him a natural fit for Bowie’s dramatic and emotionally rich songs. Martin has long demonstrated an affinity for Bowie’s work, previously performing tribute sets celebrating the icon’s music and often incorporating Bowie classics into special live performances and themed shows. Known globally as the frontman of The Tea Party, Martin’s deep appreciation for Bowie’s artistry and his own dynamic stage presence promise a compelling interpretation of the material.
Joining him on vocal duties are two of Australia’s most distinctive performers. Kav Temperley brings his unmistakable voice and melodic sensibility to the celebration, while the theatrical and electrifying iOTA, renowned for his dramatic stage persona and previous portrayals of Bowie in stage productions adds an extra layer of flair and authenticity to the show. Backed by a full band of accomplished musicians, the trio will guide audiences through a journey across Bowie’s extraordinary musical universe.
The production promises an unforgettable evening for both devoted Bowie aficionados and casual fans alike. Rather than focusing on a single era, Celebrating David Bowie embraces the full scope of the artist’s career, presenting a 20-song set packed with classics spanning the many chapters of Bowie’s ever-evolving story. From early breakthroughs to global pop dominance and cult favourites, the setlist captures the spirit of an artist who constantly reinvented himself while maintaining an unmistakable creative identity.
Fans can expect to hear beloved anthems including “Changes,” “Heroes,” “Space Oddity,” “Life on Mars?” and “Starman,” alongside electrifying rockers such as “Rebel Rebel,” “Suffragette City,” “The Jean Genie” and “Moonage Daydream.” The show also dives into Bowie’s polished pop era with tracks like “Let’s Dance,” “Modern Love,” “China Girl,” “Blue Jean” and “Young Americans,” while deeper cuts and cult favourites like “Loving the Alien,” “Scary Monsters,” and “John, I’m Only Dancing” ensure the set celebrates the breadth of Bowie’s catalogue. The night even reaches into Bowie’s iconic collaborations with a performance of “Under Pressure,” the legendary duet originally recorded with Freddie Mercury and Queen.
More than just a tribute show, Celebrating David Bowie is designed as a communal celebration of the artist’s enduring impact. Bowie’s influence continues to ripple through generations of musicians and fans alike, inspiring artists to challenge expectations, blur genres and embrace creative freedom. His work remains as relevant today as it was when he first stepped onto the stage as Ziggy Stardust, the alien rock star who changed the face of music forever.
Australian audiences will have five opportunities to experience the show live this November as the tour travels across the country. Celebrating David Bowie kicks off in Brisbane before heading to Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne, giving fans nationwide the chance to revel in the music of the Thin White Duke.
