Melbourne’s iconic Cherry Bar is celebrating the return of Avenged Sevenfold with a special takeover bringing together heavy metal, custom artwork, exclusive drinks and a whole lot of fan excitement.
Running through to 20 October, the Avenged Sevenfold x Cherry Bar takeover marks the band’s first Australian tour in 12 years, transforming the legendary rock ‘n’ roll venue into a meeting place for fans ready to welcome one of heavy metal’s biggest names back to Australian shores.
At the heart of the celebration is a custom mural by Melbourne artist Ling, bringing Avenged Sevenfold’s unmistakable aesthetic to the streets. Fans can also visit a second mural at 57 Bourke Street in Melbourne, giving the band’s return a striking visual presence beyond the venue itself.
Inside Cherry Bar, the celebrations continue with Avenged Lager pouring on tap throughout the weekend, while the band’s music will soundtrack the venue across the takeover. For fans heading to the Melbourne show, there’s an extra reason to stop by: ticket holders can enjoy a free schooner of Avenged Lager on show day before the concert, making Cherry Bar the perfect place to gather before heading to Rod Laver Arena.
The initiative builds on the excitement already surrounding the tour, with fan-focused activations creating opportunities to celebrate Avenged Sevenfold beyond the stage. In Sydney, a tattoo pop-up with renowned tattoo artist Lauren Winzer proved a major success, with appointments booked out for the day. Fans travelled hours to take part, and one attendee even got their very first tattoo as part of the experience – a testament to the passion and dedication of the band’s fanbase.
Now, Melbourne gets its own chance to celebrate, with Cherry Bar bringing together the music, art and community that have always been at the heart of rock culture.
Avenged Sevenfold’s Australian and New Zealand tour also features special guests Coheed and Cambria and Melbourne heavyweights Thornhill. The run began at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on 16 October, continues at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 18 October, and arrives at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on 20 October before heading to Auckland’s Spark Arena on 23 October.
After 12 years away, Avenged Sevenfold’s return is more than a series of arena shows – it’s an event for a fanbase that has waited a long time to see the band back on home soil. Through its takeover, custom murals and Avenged Lager activation, Cherry Bar is helping bring that excitement into the heart of Melbourne’s live music scene.
Avenged Sevenfold x Cherry Bar takeover runs until 20 October. Avenged Lager is available on tap throughout the weekend, with a complimentary schooner for eligible tour ticket holders before the Melbourne show, subject to availability and venue conditions.
