The Original Alice Cooper Group has reunited after more than 50 Years to record, resulting in a brand-new studio album “The Revenge Of Alice Cooper” set for release on July 25.
Featuring original Alice Cooper band musicians Michael Bruce (guitar), Neal Smith (Drums) and Dennis Dunaway (bass), this highly anticipated album is heralded as the successor to their iconic records “Schools Out,” “Billion Dollar Babies,” “Love It to Death,” and “Killer.” It even contains one original guitar track from the dearly departed Glen Buxton and Glen’s restored guitar is played on most of the tracks too.
”The Revenge Of Alice Cooper” sounds as fresh and as vital as their other early albums … it’s like 50 years ago was yesterday! Added to the familiarity is that it’s produced by Bob Ezrin, who was also at the helm of those classic Alice records. The sounds are punchy and powerful, with each instrument heard clearly. This is how all rock ’n roll’ records should be recorded. It’s equal parts modern and equal parts retro with some of the song flavours on this album delivering a respectful nod and a wink to the spirit of their first two albums, Pretties For You and Easy Action.
Ahead of the July 25 release of “The Revenge Of Alice Cooper” Australian Musician editor Greg Phillips had the pleasure of catching up with Alice Cooper band’s original bass player Dennis Dunaway to talk about the making of this record, as well as discussing some classic events in the life of the band including the School’s Out album ’Panties’ packaging saga, the meeting with surrealist Salvador Dali and the resultant hologram, and the time that Alice accidentally shot drummer Neal Smith in the ankle.

If that wasn’t cool enough, one of the bonus tracks (box set & limited smart format) also includes a long-lost gem from 1970 – a raw, alternate take of “Return of The Spiders” (not the version heard on Easy Action)—recently unearthed from original multi-tracks missing for 50 years and now enhanced and mixed by Bob Ezrin.
Alice, Neal, Michael, and Dennis have reunited with their producer Bob Ezrin in an old-school recording studio in Connecticut, rekindling the magic from the 70s. This album is a celebration of friendship, nostalgia, and the timeless sound that solidified Alice Cooper as a rock icon.
