DOUG ALDRICH: THE DEAD DAISIES ‘HOLY GROUND’ INTERVIEW

The new album by The Dead Daisies ‘Holy Ground’, was released on 22nd January 2021. It was recorded by Producer Ben Grosse at La Fabrique Studio in the South of France. Check out guitarist Doug Aldrich chatting with Australian Musician editor Greg Phillips about the creation of the band’s new album Holy Ground.

The Dead Daisies is a musical collective that has gone from strength to strength since the release of their self-titled album in 2013. They have released five studio, one live and one covers album to a growing army of fans worldwide and are praised by the global media in an era where Rock has been declared dead time and time again. The band’s DNA includes an amazing collective of players that includes John Corabi, Marco Mendoza, Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed, Frank Ferrer, Darryl Jones, Charley Drayton, Deen Castronovo and Jon Stevens amongst others. They’ve also shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Rock including Kiss, Guns N‘ Roses, Scorpions, Aerosmith, Bad Company, Whitesnake, ZZ Top and the Hollywood Vampires.

The great news is that the band has just released a brand new rockin album titled Holy Ground featuring the current line-up of Dead Daisies founder and guitarist David Lowy, powerhouse drummer Deen Castronovo, Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio) and “The Voice Of Rock“ Glenn Hughes.

Speaking to Australian Musician about the transient nature of Dead Daisies’ band members, Doug Aldrich sees parallels with Glenn Hughes old band Deep Purple, who enjoyed multiple eras of success featuring different vocalists including Glenn, Ian Gillan, David Coverdale, and Joe Lynn Turner. “I think it’s probably the way the band is meant to be,” Doug says. “It’s not ‘unsimilar’ to early Deep Purple. Maybe we are still finding our legs. Maybe this is THE lineup, you never know! With a band that is set up as a collective, it gives people freedom to do whatever they want … it’s all amicable. They can come and go.”
