Melbourne Ska Orchestra brought their Ballad of Monte Loco world tour to a triumphant close at 170 Russell, delivering a night that was equal parts party, protest, and pure brass-fuelled celebration. Led by the ever-charismatic Nicky Bomba, the 20 piece collective turned the Melbourne venue into a heaving sea of rhythm and revolution, blending dub grooves, Spaghetti Western swagger, and unstoppable ska energy. Performing tracks from their cinematic new album The Ballad of Monte Loco, including the explosive single Bom Bom Bom, the ARIA Award-winning ensemble reminded the crowd why they’ve become one of Australia’s most exhilarating live acts. It was a fitting finale for a band that has spent two decades turning unity and joy into an art form, a full-blown brass opera that left the walls shaking and spirits soaring.
