One of Australia’s greatest guitarists and leading musical directors, with a career spanning over 50 years, Peter Northcote presents ‘Tales from the Velvet Road. A Classic Rock elegy’.
Join Peter and his all-star band on a retrospective musical journey, recapturing the magical moments and sounds of the 70s and 80s, playing some of the greatest songs ever written and recorded.
A celebration and tribute to the music of a generation with songs from Toto, Pink Floyd, The Doobie Brothers, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, AC/DC and many many more. Performed by Peter Northcote and his hand picked group of singers and musicians, bringing these songs to life, played live, the way they were always meant to be heard.
Peter Northcote is a respected figure in the Australian music industry. He is renowned as one of Australia’s greatest guitarists, recently endorsed at the Opera House by his long time colleague Tommy Emmanuel, during his most recent performance there in 2025.
Known for his deep connection to the roots of classic rock and its evolution, Peter has performed with the who’s who of Australian rock including Dragon, Richard Clapton, Daryl Braithwaite, Guy Sebastian, Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly, Margaret Urlich, as well as international acts including Elton John, Cher, Shania Twain, Billie Joel, Tom Jones, Sting, Rod Stewart and The Monkees.
He has earnt a reputation for authentic, powerful live performances that celebrate the artistry and storytelling at the heart of rock music. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to preserving the spirit of classic rock while presenting it in a way that resonates with contemporary audiences. Tales from the Velvet Road is more than a concert—it’s a celebration of live music at its most visceral. At a time when music is often consumed digitally and in fragments, Peter is passionate about the importance of performing classic rock live: the shared energy between musicians and audience, the spontaneity of the performance, and the timeless songs brought to life as they were meant to be heard—on stage, in the moment.
