PETE MURRAY ‘Home To Me’ (Single)

A warm and rousing new addition to the Pete Murray universe, today the beloved singer-songwriter shares a brand new single Home To Me. Embracing folk and country flavours into Pete’s trademark tranquility, Home To Me also arrives amidst Pete’s extensive 56-date national acoustic solo tour, supported by Rachael Fahim and Brett Wood across the country.

Sparkling with acoustic guitar and honeyed vocals alongside country twangs and soft, shuffling percussion, Home To Me is a sublime meeting point between Pete’s uplifting folk-rock roots and some fresher sonic terrain, as Pete explains, “I don’t know if he has influenced me, but I’ve been listening to a bit of Kenny Rogers over the last few years. He has some classic songs. The country artist I’ve been listening to is Chris Stapleton. Chris has a killer voice and guitar tone.”

Initially penned during time spent in Nashville, Home To Me sprang to life quickly ahead of Pete’s first-ever co-writing session in the ‘Country Music Capital of the World’. And while a strikingly intimate outing that blossomed alongside Phil Barton, producer Garrett Kato and some engineering from Luke Palmer, Home To Me is a universal love letter to finding ‘the one’, with the country flavours that Pete was seeking ultimately expanding via Kato’s contributions, as well as Benny Edger adding some lap steel to proceedings. “I was doing some co-writing for the first time in Nashville,” shares Pete of Home To Me’s origin story, “and I wanted to write some country music for someone else. I was really nervous that I would rock up to the session the next day and have nothing to offer so I started writing the song that night. I pretty much had half of the music and lyrics written before I turned up to the session. I was writing with Aussie songwriter Phil Barton and Phil is a killer writer so it didn’t take long for him to work his magic and before we knew it, the song was done. It wasn’t written about anyone, it was more about what love means to people when you get it right. As the lyrics say, ‘No matter where we are or where we’re going to be, when we’re apart you’re the missing piece – there’s one thing you should know and one thing you gotta believe, honey you’re always home to me’.”

Having sold over 1.2 million albums, and generating hundreds of millions of streams, releasing three ARIA chart-topping albums and scooping up 17 ARIA Award nominations over the years, Pete Murray is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most enduring and endearing success stories. From the release of this debut full-length album, 2001’s The Game, through to his breakout 2003 album Feeler and, most recently, 2017’s Comacho, Pete has maintained his status for blending laidback charisma and magnetic live performances for decades while cultivating airplay, sales, streams and a dedicated fanbase that most could only dream of. Armed with a potent sonic brew that spans acoustic, rock, folk and more, witnessed on his multiple hits like Better Days, Feeler, Opportunity and So Beautiful, Pete’s live show has also been repeatedly praised for his smooth delivery, expert craftsmanship, and his inescapable ability to make you feel right at home in any venue and setting.

With countless headline shows with his band at home and across the world under his belt, and previous performances alongside the likes of Missy Higgins, Icehouse, Rob Thomas, James Blunt and more, 2025 has also found Pete ticking off yet another career first: performing an entirely acoustic headline run around Australia, with a mammoth 56-date tour currently in motion that spans practically every pocket of the country.

“I’m loving it!” enthuses Pete of his current tour. “So many shows have sold out and others are close to selling out on this tour. It’s been a very different tour for me being my first solo tour in Australia. Lots of stories and lots of song-a-longs.”

And while playing the Melbourne Recital Centre in April has been a recent standout for Pete on this current tour (with Lilithia Reviews praising: “Murray is a natural performer, an incredible songwriter, and in a room as large as Melbourne’s Recital Centre, he makes it feel like it’s just the two of us, huddled around a campfire, exchanging life stories.”), Pete’s ultimate favourite thing about touring regionally and so extensively is the chance to dig even deeper on home soil. “Getting to see new places is my favourite thing,” Pete concludes. “Australia is such a massive country, even though I’m doing a massive 60 date tour I haven’t even scratched the surface of places to go in this country.”

Home To Me is out now. Tickets for Pete Murray’s solo tour are onsale now from www.petemurray.com.

LAURA LUCAS The Atlantic’ (Single) ’There’s A Place I Go’ (Album out November 14)

Canadian-born, Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Laura Lucas today announces her long-awaited debut album, There’s a Place I Go, arriving November 14 via Nettwerk. Alongside the announcement, she shares her new single “The Atlantic”, a delicately powerful reflection on childhood memories, emotional distance, and inner healing.

Produced by Tom Iansek (Big Scary, #1 Dads, Maple Glider, Lisa Mitchell) and recorded in London, the album marks a striking evolution in Laura’s sound – blending indie folk intimacy with expansive, atmospheric layers that elevate her deeply personal songwriting.

PRE-SAVE: THERE’S A PLACE I GO BY LAURA LUCAS https://lauralucas.ffm.to/theresaplaceigo

“There’s a Place I Go,” Laura says of the album’s title, “refers to thinking of creative expression as not just something one does, but a place that you go to – a sort of retreat from the rest of the world. I wanted to call my first album this to honour what songwriting means to me, and to remind myself that that ‘place’ is the core of what I’m doing and why I make music in the first place.”

On new single “The Atlantic”, Laura traces the edges of a childhood road trip on Canada’s east coast — the colourful towns, the red sands of Prince Edward Island, the haunted houses – but it’s the emotional landscape that lingers. The track swells with gentle guitars and a hazy indie-folk atmosphere, holding space for some of Laura’s most vulnerable lyricism to date.

“This really is a song for my inner child,” she shares. “I found so much healing in writing the lyric ‘I was a kid.’ It’s a simple phrase, but it flicked a switch in my brain and helped me release a lot of misplaced shame.”

LISTEN & SHARE: “THE ATLANTIC” BY LAURA LUCAS https://lauralucas.ffm.to/theatlantic

There’s a Place I Go follows Laura’s 2023 EP The Dreamer and a run of celebrated collaborations, including “When The Fire Started” with Israel Cannan, “I Imagine You Are Happy” with Lawson Hull, and “A Quiet Heart Is An Unused Heart” with Ciaran Lavery. Earlier this year, she began unveiling the album through singles “Reincarnation Song” – an existential, hopeful meditation on life’s cycles – and “Did The Mountain Change You?”, a softly aching track about holding onto hope that’s no longer yours.

With each release, Laura has continued to expand her sonic world while deepening her emotional palette – weaving together reflections on identity, longing, womanhood, and the quiet courage of self-acceptance.

Early support has come from Spotify, Amazon Music, and tastemaker outlets like The AU Review, GRRRL Music, ParaPOP, Niche Music, and Uranium Waves. Her songs have landed on Spotify’s juniper, Coffee Break, Fresh Finds AUNZ, and Apple Music’s Breaking Singer-Songwriter playlists, while her previous EP charted at #2 on Apple Music’s Breaking Acoustic chart across 29 countries.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, and now based in Melbourne, Laura Lucas’ writing is shaped by distance, memory, and growth – her storytelling often balancing sharp detail and raw vulnerability with open-ended wonder. As she found her way toward this debut album, she was shaped by some of life’s big shifts, and now she hopes these songs serve as a quiet reminder that there is strength in softness, and that sensitivity can be a superpower.

PARADISE LOST  ‘Silence Like The Grave (Single/Video) Prepare For ASCENSION New Album Out SEPTEMBER 19th

Icons of goth and doom, PARADISE LOST will release their long-awaited, 17th album Ascension on September 19th with Nuclear Blast Records. The band’s first album in 5 years, following 2020’s critically acclaimed Obsidian, was produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh and mixed/mastered by Lawrence Mackrory. Ascension is a testament to the band’s longevity and relevance over their 35+ year career, encompassing their signature styles of gothic, death and doom fans have cherished along the way.

Ascension’s album cover fittingly features the painting The Court of Death (1870-1902) by renowned British artist George Frederic Watts, which hangs in the Tate Gallery in London. The painting depicts Death as an enthroned angel flanked by allegorical figures of Silence and Mystery guarding sunrise and the star of hope, while a warrior surrenders his sword and a duke his coronet, showing that worldly status offers no protection. The painting’s bleak, prophetic vision embodies Ascension’s dark, tormented soundscapes as mournful verses collide with dire, foreboding riffs.

Commenting on the record, vocalist Nick Holmes says:
“Ascension is a cavalcade of molten misery, a vigorous sorrow filled stroll through a wicked world of glorious triumph and pitiful tragedy.”

Now, PARADISE LOST offer a glimpse into their melancholic masterpiece with the record’s first single and music video, ‘Silence Like The Grave.’

This winter, highlights include a collaboration between two of Australia’s guitar virtuosos, Fran Swinn & James Sherlock, and pianist David Dower launches his new album ‘Sonder’. MYD ‘So High’ (Single) ‘Mydnight’ (Album 29 August)

DJ, producer, singer and artist Myd has announced his anticipated new album Mydnight will be released 29th August via Ed Banger Records / Because Music. The announcement comes alongside a brand new single taken from the record, ‘So High’, which is out now and offers a sun-drenched glimpse into the sonic world of the forthcoming Mydnight LP.

A kaleidoscopic journey through club euphoria, playful honesty and technicolour emotion, Myd’s new album Mydnight is the boldest statement yet from a truly singular artist. Featuring Myd’s own vocals on every track and a handpicked global cast of collaborators including Channel Tres, Calcutta, Trueno, Carlita, Bethanie Home and more, Mydnight marks the beginning of a new era for Myd: more club-focused, more personal, and more emotionally resonant than ever.

Myd’s debut album Born A Loser saw Myd sharing his inner world through guitar-infused indie dance – but Mydnight is his view from the DJ booth. It was written and produced between LA and Paris, with heat from the global dance floor baked into every groove.

Singles released so far from Mydnight include double A-side ‘Song For You’ / ‘The Wizard’: statement pieces of Myd’s intent on his new album, acknowledging his French dance music forebears whilst simultaneously pushing the agenda forward – and there is plenty more where they came from on Mydnight.

Myd’s relentless three-year schedule DJing across the world informs much of what appears on the album – he has taken in the sounds, personalities and vibrancy of the many places he’s played in, and incorporated it all into a body of work greater than the sum of its parts. There are the Samba rhythms and World Cup-esque whistles of new single ‘So High’. The nuanced, fragile closeness on standout track ‘Be Someone New’ featuring Bethanie Home, the infectious groove of previous single ‘All That Glitters Is Not Gold’ featuring Channel Tres and Trueno. But Myd is also unafraid to dive headfirst into straight-up, dancefloor-focused house, as shown on ‘In My Head’ featuring Carlita, ‘Made Me Feel Alive’ and the monster album closer ‘The Wizard’. And then there’s ‘9am’ – a tender and reflective track tailor-made for those who made it through the night and into the next morning.

On Mydnight, Myd bears it all. Everything he is as an artist and a human being has been put into this record – and serves as a perfect snapshot into the stories and memories accrued over a busy few years playing everywhere from the hallowed Pikes Ibiza to the Champions League Finals and Paralympic Closing Ceremony in Paris.

Myd – So High. Single out now, Mydnight out Friday 29th August  via Ed Banger Records / Because Music  STREAM / BUY ‘SO HIGH’

Less than 9 months after the release of his well received 2024 album  Under The Sky  Shane is wasting no time and pulling no punches with the first single from the follow up. STATESIDE Aly’s Song (So Close So Far) (Single) Where You Found me (Album)

California, US- Aggressive pop-punk band Stateside have released their new album Where You Found Me and shared a new video for single Aly’s Song (So Close So Far). “On the flip side of vista verde and someone else being gone, this song is about our perspective on being away. It’s about how we all feel that in order to pursue what we want with the band, and travelling, we oftentimes miss the big and little moments of our friends and loved ones lives. Sometimes that can really weigh on us and we question whether or not we are letting people we care about down,” says Anthony Lemus.

The album Where You Found Me is out now via Pure Noise Records. Having been on the road for the past three years, this album is a culmination of all of the experiences and emotions, both negative and positive, that the band have been through. From the sacrifices they made in order to pursue the band, whilst also exploring loss in its many forms.

Stateside will be touring with One Step Closer this month in North America.

DANNY HOWARD “Nothing Else Matters” (Single)

Danny Howard welcomes Ronnie Spiteri to his “Nothing Else Matters” label with new single “Power”. Continuing a run of releases that has seen Ronnie Spiteri make inspired moves to re-establish himself as one of house music’s most exciting producers, he delivers “Power” – a summer anthem-in-the-making courtesy of Danny Howard’s taste-making “Nothing Else Matters” imprint.

A decisive demonstration of his ability to seamlessly traverse the broad spectrum of house music, “Power” leans into the summer season, and sits in contrast to his recent release on Knee Deep In Sound – a club-focused EP that saw “Peace” deployed by Carl Cox and Jamie Jones during their B2B at the UNVRS opening party.

“I think it’s important to be able to play for different audiences in different settings, so with Power, it was all about making an anthem and not just a club track – something that would cross over and sound great on radio or in a festival setting.” – Ronnie Spiteri

Lining up an impressive number of releases for the coming months across labels including Altra Moda and Bandidos, Spiteri’s work ethic is clear; driven by a passion for the craft and the potent experiences of raves during his formative years, his productions convey an intrinsic understanding of the elements that make dance music special – not just in the studio, but on the dance floor itself.

“It sounds clichéd, but once I had the right idea, the track almost wrote itself. The combination of the vocal hook with that big powerful piano riff is a timeless combination – an old school flavour but refined in a style that feels current and fresh.” – Ronnie Spiteri

Returning to the scene after a period of recalibration, with consistent top-level DJ support and a monthly Spotify listener count that has ballooned to over 500,000, this renewed confidence in his own productions is palpable, but it’s also a reminder that the best work is collaborative, and the story behind “Power” is no different.

Pointing towards the crucial role of a label A&R, and the value that relationship can have for a producer, the A&R process helped bring “Power” to life; noting that quality feedback and placing trust in that advice was part of the creative process for Ronnie, choosing to lean on the unique insight of a tastemaker such as Danny Howard helped define the track’s final form.

“Danny’s support on this new run of music means a lot, and his input on this release was crucial. I sent him a folder of tracks and the process was very much a conversation, a collaborative approach – he is a real A&R who helped get this track to a point where when a DJ plays it, it lands in exactly the way I intended it to. The role of an A&R is so important, they’re a second set of ears who can spot things you miss, and when you’ve got advice from someone like Danny who is helping break tracks every week on national radio, you’d be silly not to listen to it.” – Ronnie Spiteri

“Power” very much represents the sound of an artist who is decisively stepping into a new phase, one which is already delivering tangible results on the dance floor, and the promise of a pivotal summer for the re-energised producer.

Ronnie Spiteri – “Power” is out June 6th on Nothing Else Matters

PARIS-BASED  INÈS CHERIFI RELEASES NEW EP “QUESTS”

Inès Cherifi releases new EP Quests, affirming her voice as a powerful new presence in electronic music. Paris-based Inès Cherifi releases Quests, a six-track EP marking a confident new chapter in her career. Known for fusing classical instrumentation with electronic texture, Quests sees Inès step fully into a hybrid compositional space, guided as much by voice and vulnerability as by structure and form.

Following her 2023 EP Fountains, which leaned into minimal, instrumental compositions, Quests presents a more expansive and emotionally nuanced palette. The new EP draws on distortion, processed vocals, club-inspired rhythms, and lyrical clarity; exploring emotional themes of transformation and intimacy. LISTEN

Written over two years, Quests traces a journey through shifting emotional states from the ambient softness of First Breath to the high-BPM intensity of Shield and the fractured power of Cœurcore II. Each track offers a distinct moment of feeling: love, loss, fear, presence, and self-recognition.

Produced in close collaboration with Krampf (Casual Gabberz) and Paul Seul (Ascendant Vierge), the EP evolved from an archive of orchestral compositions into something more raw and direct. Inès’s voice, once treated as a textural element, now takes centre stage. It cracks, repeats, confesses. “It says what I sometimes can’t say otherwise,” she explains.

Crucially Quests marks a shift in how Inès positions herself as an artist; not only as a classically trained violinist active within electronic music, but as a multidimensional composer and performer using voice and its accompanying vulnerability as a tool for storytelling.

Her growing practice also extends beyond music, shaped by collaborations across digital art and performance with artists such as Mélanie Courtinat, Salomé Chatriot, and Valentin Ranger. Her work often explores emotional space and layered identity, resisting fixed genres in favour of immersive, open-ended form.

Later this summer, Quests will be followed by a club-focused remix edition, reflecting Inès’s deep connection to rave culture and the physical intensity of the dancefloor. The reworked version will continue to evolve the EP’s electronic themes.

At once personal and constructed, Quests offers a new chapter in Inès Cherifi’s musicality; where composition, and physical performance are allowed to intersect and expand.

RITA ORA ‘Heat’ (Single)

Rita Ora turns up the temperature this winter with the release of her hotly anticipated new single “Heat” – arriving on the same day as her performance at the World Pride Music Festival in Washington, D.C.

Produced by Peter Thomas (P!nk, Selena Gomez, Teddy Swims), who co-wrote the song alongside Leland (Brett McLaughlin), Michael Matosic, and and Australia’s own Troye Sivan, “Heat” is bold, playful, and filled with sun-soaked energy.

Rita says: “Dropping “Heat” on the same day as my World Pride performance feels like the perfect way to kick off the U.S summer — it’s such a special moment for me and for my fans who have supported me over the years. I’m obsessed with this track, and honestly, I just wanted to have fun with it!  It’s bold, cheeky, and totally drenched in golden, feel-good energy. For me, it’s all about celebrating freedom, joy, being unapologetically yourself and owning who you are!”

Rita first gave fans a taste of “Heat” on stage in Miami while supporting Kylie Minogue on the US leg of her Tension tour — and it’s already set to become a standout in her live set, with a sizzling appearance lined up at Capital’s Summertime Ball on 15th June in London ahead of her Australian tour with Ricky Martin in November 2025.

The accompanying video for “Heat”, directed by Justin Daashuur Hopkins, was filmed on a vibrant, sun-drenched stretch of Miami Beach and plunges us into a surreal, high-energy day in the lives of the city’s most eclectic beachgoers. Shot in rich technicolour tones inspired by legendary photographer and photojournalist Martin Parr, the visuals celebrate the wild, sweaty, and gloriously eccentric spirit of Miami’s beach culture — a world where it’s always summer.

Rita Ora’s multi-platinum music career has won her commercial and critical acclaim with 13 UK Top 10 singles and four UK Number One singles. In the UK she was among the first to receive a BRIT Billion award after surpassing the landmark of one billion career UK streams. While in the US, her acclaimed singles and star-studded collaborations have earned her a #3 Billboard Hot 100 song, 7 Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart, 5 of which reached #1, and 6 Top 20 singles on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart. NEAPOLITAN  ‘Running Away’ (Single)

Texas-based alt-rock outfit Neapolitan are continuing their momentum in 2025 with the release of their brand-new single, ‘Running Away,’ officially out now via Golden Robot Records.

Following the emotional depth of their previous release, ‘Sell Yourself,’ Neapolitan returns with a track that channels raw vulnerability through urgent melodies and a gripping vocal performance. ‘Running Away’ explores the all-too-familiar desire to escape – from expectations, from the past, and from the version of ourselves we no longer recognize.

Built on a foundation of soaring guitars and anthemic hooks, ‘Running Away’ captures the intensity of emotional flight while still grounding itself in themes of reflection and growth. It’s a song for anyone who’s ever felt overwhelmed, yet found a strange comfort in the chaos.

With each release, Neapolitan continues to assert themselves as a rising force in the modern alternative landscape – unafraid to tackle complex emotions with honesty and sonic power.

GHOST OF SUNSET ‘Fade’ (Single)

Golden Robot Records is proud to announce the release of ‘Fade,’ the powerful new single from hard rock storytellers Ghosts of Sunset, officially out now.

‘Fade’ delves deep into the heartbreaking reality of watching someone you love slowly unravel under the weight of addiction. With their signature blend of melody-driven rock and lyrical storytelling, Ghosts of Sunset explore the emotional toll of standing by helplessly as a loved one disappears into darkness – and the crushing realization that sometimes, walking away feels less painful than staying.

But in true Ghosts of Sunset fashion, there’s a twist: the song reveals that, in a different time, the roles were reversed. The narrator wasn’t always the one watching someone fade – they were once the one fading. It’s a brutally honest reflection on the cyclical nature of pain, love, and dependency.

Fans of Ghosts of Sunset’s emotionally resonant rock will find ‘Fade’ to be among their most affecting work yet, blending vulnerability with powerhouse instrumentation and a chorus that hits as hard as the subject matter.

ARM’S LENGTH RELEASE NEW MUSIC VIDEO MORNING PERSON

Following the release of their powerful sophomore album There’s A Whole World Out There out now via Pure Noise Records, Arm’s Length are excited to unveil the new music video for the song Morning Person. The video marks the final chapter in a haunting three-part visual narrative that began with previous music videos for Funny Face and You Ominously End.

The album’s visual narrative reaches its climax in the music video for Morning Person —a dark and cinematic portrayal of grief and memory. As director Alex Scalzo-Brown notes, “Allen’s words in Morning Person read to me like grief filling up a room, with all the most beautiful parts of something once lost, crashing into you without mercy. I believe this feeling is mutual between the living and the dead.”

Watch the video for Morning Person here:

“Morning Person is genuinely my favourite Arm’s Length song,” says vocalist and guitarist Allen Steinberg. “I’d say it’s the most important one, at least to me. Lyrically, it captures so many emotions that I’ve had to process within not only the last few years, but my entire lifetime. Constant compulsive overthinking, debilitating anxiety and familial trauma are all themes that are tackled in this song. As a whole, it feels extremely triumphant, and writing this song truly helped me realize that I am worth the amount of space I take up in the world.”

“I think Alex Scalzo-Brown did an incredible job translating this song into visual art,” Steinberg continues. “He beautifully captures grief, and the video he created grapples with all of the aforementioned themes. The video closes the trilogy with a sense of despair, but also with the sense that all is not hopeless, and that was my intention with the song itself when it was written.”

A sweeping and emotionally raw body of work, There’s A Whole World Out There finds the band—Allen Steinberg (vocals/guitar), Jeremy Whyte (guitar), Ben Greenblatt (bass), and Jeff Whyte (drums)—pushing their sound further than ever before. Produced by longtime collaborator Anton DeLost, the album explores themes of grief, mental health, self-doubt, and resilience through massive guitar hooks and gut-punching lyricism.

Steinberg’s personal struggles, which he openly addressed in his songwriting, are central to the album’s creation. He confesses that during the period leading up to the writing of this record, he was “the most mentally ill” he had ever been. Yet, it was precisely through confronting these intense experiences that the album came to life with such urgency and honesty. “The songs aren’t written for anyone else at all,” he says, emphasizing the raw, unfiltered emotion that drives the record’s sound and lyrics. The album peaked at #6 on Billboard’s Current Rock and Alternative Album Charts and #17 for Vinyl Albums.

Arm’s Length recently announced a UK and European tour for 2026. Support will come from label mates, Ben Quad and Shoreline. The tour, which will take them across thirteen cities, has already seen venue upgrades and a sold-out show, with more to follow.

SABATON “Hordes Of Khan” (Single/Video)

Global Power Metal Band and one of Sweden’s most successful bands SABATON, have unveiled their second single and cinematic video, “Hordes Of Khan” from their forthcoming 11th studio album which is due out later this year, marking their Better Noise Music debut.

https://sabaton.lnk.to/hok

“The story behind our new single ‘Hordes Of Khan’ was a great one to take a deep dive into,” says singer Joakim Brodén. “The song actually turned out to have way more depth than we expected. Genghis Khan wasn’t just a conqueror; he was a complex figure who left behind a huge legacy. He built the largest contiguous empire in history, stretching far beyond Mongolia, and his influence only grew after his death. Honestly, we couldn’t have picked a more suitable subject for the new direction SABATON is heading in! ‘Hordes of Khan’ hits hard, and it’s heavy for good reason. We know our fans crave heavy music, and we’re pumped to see how they react to this one. Hopefully, it’s a track they’ll be blasting on repeat!”

As bassist Pär Sundström explains, “Joakim wanted to write a proper heavy metal song, and as we’ve seen from past releases, a lot of our fans appreciate pure fucking heavy metal! That’s what ‘Hordes Of Khan’ is, and when you listen to it and close your eyes, you can imagine Genghis Khan on his horse, galloping to battle. Joakim composed the music and I actually wrote the lyrics for this one. When I started to work on them, I realized the melody was pretty complicated. Honestly, they were some of the most difficult lyrics that I’ve ever written. All in all, I’m very happy with the result, especially as Joakim has said that parts of the lyrics are some of SABATON’s best to date.”

The music video for “Hordes of Khan” is based in the future, in the year 2045. It was filmed in London at two different locations, the Natural History Museum and at Harrow School, and follows the main character–a young girl–who plays in a heavy metal band and loves SABATON, but she won’t ever have the opportunity to see the band play because in 2039, all wars have miraculously ended. The world is now peaceful, and war is obsolete and therefore, so is SABATON. The girl hears about a museum that’s featuring a SABATON exhibit with all of the band members’ musical instruments. The girl and her band sneak into this museum to check it out. Once inside, they are greeted by a hologram telling the story about the musical instruments of SABATON that contain magic that brings history to life. The kids take no notice, pick up the instruments and begin to play.

Once the music begins, a ferocious Genghis Khan comes to life along with five other legendary soldiers played by the band members. Their mission is to stop Genghis before he escapes the museum to take over the world.

“When reflecting on all of the music videos we’ve ever created,” says Pär Sundström, “our ‘Hordes of Khan’ music video was the most exciting in a lot of ways, even though ‘Christmas Truce’ is a much more emotional topic and story. I think this one specifically contains much more depth and action, and in combination with the locations and the actors, I’m confident that it will resonate with everyone!”

The children acting in the music video had their work cut out for them. They didn’t just want it to look like they were playing the instruments, they actually wanted the kids to really play the instruments and perform the song correctly. They thought it was going to be super challenging, but in this case they all learned the song by heart and performed it. “We were really proud of them all! What people see in the video is playback, but all of them know their parts and they can play ‘Hordes Of Khan’ for real,” Sundström continues. “We loved seeing that happen! Our ex-drummer Daniel Mullback’s son played the drums and acted in this music video as well, and he absolutely nailed it. Another amazing drummer in the making!”

SABATON have always had a signature focus on writing songs about historical battles, wars, and acts of heroism that have solidified their impact with their loyal and longtime fans. SABATON have accumulated more than three billion streams across all streaming platforms and almost two billion views on YouTube.

“Hordes of Khan” is the follow-up to “Templars,” which was released April 25 on digital outlets. You can hear “Templars” (which has been streamed over 8 million times) HERE, and watch the music video (which has been viewed over 2.5 million times) HERE.

SUDAN ARCHIVES RISES ‘Dead’ (Single)

More than two years since her breakthrough second album Natural Brown Prom Queen, Sudan Archives rises again with ‘DEAD‘, a new song that marks a more dancefloor-forward direction.

Natural Brown Prom Queen documented Sudan’s move from Cincinnati to Los Angeles and her coming of age as an artist and woman. After touring with Andre 3000, Caroline Polachek, and Tame Impala, and playing festivals from Coachella to Glastonbury in support of Natural Brown Prom Queen, Sudan began imagining a new, advanced version of herself. She took everything she’d learned on stage and on the road back to the lab; ‘DEAD’ is the result.

On ‘DEAD’, a voice asks, “Did you miss me?” It’s Sudan, but not as you know her – her voice morphed into different digitised textures that evoke a self split into different versions, a self altered with technology and experimented with or upon. The technological enhancements Sudan has visited upon herself empower her even as they break her, and on ‘DEAD’, she wrestles with a decision – who she is, and who she wants to be.

Recorded in Los Angeles, Chicago and Detroit, ‘DEAD’ explores the possibilities of orchestral Black dance music and is Sudan Archives’ most high-energy, club-forward release to date. As she reconciles the human and machine halves of herself, she reclaims the feeling of being fully alive.

THE TERRYS ‘Eraser’ (Single)

Beloved Gerringong indie outfit The Terrys return with their reflective single ‘Eraser’, from their forthcoming self-titled album – out Friday, June 13 through Westway Collective. Pre-order vinyl HERE + HERE.

‘Eraser’ leans into sombre acoustic textures, pairing delicate guitar lines with Jacob ‘Finchie’ Finch’s raw, emotive vocals. Produced by longtime collaborators Tasker, Paddy Cornwall, and Taras Hrubyj-Piper, the track offers a moment of quiet introspection — a stripped-back exploration of memory, loss, and letting go. ‘Eraser’ reveals a softer side of The Terrys — one that trades in big hooks for hushed, heartfelt resonance.

Accompanying the album is The Terrys’ biggest national headline tour to date, including stops in Meanjin/Brisbane, Tarndayna/Adelaide, Boorloo/Perth, Naarm/Melbourne, Eora/Sydney, Nipaluna/Hobart and Lutruwita/Forth. A central aim of this tour from the band was for it to be affordable for all fans, hence the ticket price of $35.

This continues on from selling out shows across Australia, the UK, EU & NZ and playing Australian mainstays Beyond The Valley, Chasing Tides, Hay Park, Spaced Out Festival, Yours & Owls, NYE on the Hill, Rolling Sets and Festival of the Sun. Recently, they also played the Too Turped Up Weekender across Wagga Wagga and Albury.

Last year, the band went from strength to strength, with their sophomore album ‘Skate Pop’ debuting at #2 on the ARIA Album Chart and landing a coveted triple j Feature Album spot. The singles also appeared at #93 (‘No Bad Days’), #103 (‘Hopscotch’) and #181 (‘Silent Disco’) in triple j’s Hottest 100 (2023). Their first record ‘True Colour’ also debuted at #3 on the ARIA Album Chart.

The Terrys’ true north has always been this: stay positive, take it one day at a time and look towards the horizon with a smile and, ideally, beer in hand.

‘Eraser’ is available worldwide now

Get ready for a ‘Ruckus’ with four-piece alternative-rock outfit Arabella and The Heist’s newest single (out Friday, June 6).

Since their 2019 debut, Arabella and The Heist have embodied the pumped up and unhinged energy of the icons of rock and seduction of punk, encouraging their listeners to let loose and get wild. Now, ‘Ruckus’ marks the dawn of a new age for them.

Fizzing with static energy, ‘Ruckus’ is a storm of electric party beats mixed with harsh rock noise, overdriven guitar and amped up drums, making for a track that feels straight from a noughties house party. It’s loud, it’s infectious, and it’s unapologetically Arabella and The Heist.

Arabella and The Heist are taking this whirlwind energy on their east-coast tour: ignited by the raw energy ‘Ruckus’, they’re taking the defiance of punk and infectious energy of dance to venues all along the coast with a setlist of new and old songs that’s fast, loud, straight to the point, and sure to establish Arabella and The Heist as one of Australia’s newest electrifying acts.

With sold-out crowds for the single launches of ‘Electric’ and ‘1769’ and features in festival lineups like St Kilda Fest 2025, Brunswick Music Fest 2025, Chopped 2024 and Mordifest 2024, this tour will be the latest place where a crowd can shake off their chains and get berserk.

GAZAL ANNOUNCES NEW EP GODS INTO FRAUDS OUT JULY 11TH. LISTEN TO NEW TRACK ‘UR A DOG’ + WATCH THE VIDEO NOW

Sydney-based rising star GAZAL today announces her new EP Gods Into Frauds, set for release on 11 July 2025. To celebrate the announcement, GAZAL shares new single ‘UR A DOG’ alongside the official video clip, and announces a run of headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

Over the course of her rebel yell of an EP, Gods Into Frauds, the effortlessly talented, rapidly ascendant GAZAL delivers an undeniable modern classic, effortlessly condensing any number of disparate styles and genres into music which thrillingly broaches the gap between urgent modern treatise and art pop. A bold, quantum leap forward from her previous releases, this is hardly music aiming simply for the charts; rather, it is turbo charged with the kind of fury and potency, confusion and anxiety that make up the modern experience of being alive, female and an artist at this particular point in time. The result is her most ambitious and soaring body of work to date, an audacious soundtrack to the era of broken idols and reclaimed identity. It’s released on AWAL on July 11, and you can hear the potent lead single ‘UR A DOG” now.

From the moment she burst onto the scene in 2023 with such boldly off-kilter tracks such as ‘Let You Go’, ‘Skeletons’ and ‘Breathe’, it’s become blazingly obvious that GAZAL is a unique, pioneering artist who leads the way on her own terms, with the ensuing tracks on the EP creating a kind of rangy, nimble storytelling which conjures up the febrile, strident world we live in with an unflinching energy and vividness. These songs are flash-lit Polaroids, ready framed and developing before our very eyes, and their creator is nowhere and everywhere, documenting a new natural history in which moments of tenderness coexist with razor sharp lyrics, and unabashed celebrations of outsiderdom sit alongside deeply personal glimpses of introspection. Gods Into Frauds isn’t just a title—it’s a calling out and a calling in.

It all kicks off in suitably off-kilter fashion with the new single ‘UR A DOG’, a high-voltage anthem of individuality pulsing with Lebanese energy. Driven by booming percussion and magnetic attitude, ‘UR A DOG’ flips comparison on its head. It’s a declaration that no one can mirror your essence—and trying only exposes the fraud. Chaotic, confident, and culturally charged, this track is GAZAL in her full form: untouchable, undeniable, and unapologetically herself.

It also comes with a video, which can be viewed here. GAZAL says:

“On the contrary to what this music video would suggest, I am actually petrified of dogs and thought it would be funny to have them in the music video. It was truly a petrifying experience and I feel for all the dog walkers out there, cause that shit is no joke. But on a serious note, I just didn’t want to take myself too seriously. This song is about being myself and embracing uniqueness. I tend to make things humorous and see the light in every situation so I wanted to show that.”

Of the many voices in music today, GAZAL’s is among the most commanding, writing at a pitch of intensity and urgency that few can match. However, Gods Into Frauds is no diatribe. Instead, it is an intensely alive hybrid, a work of radical honesty that uses personal history as a means of magnifying and challenging the paradoxes we find ourselves in, both social and personal, macro and micro, a fierce unravelling of image, power and identity, infused with the raw pulse of Lebanese influence and a fearless experimental sound. And with over 14 million views on TikTok and a tidal wave of global support, GAZAL is redefining what it means to be an outsider turned blueprint.

ABOUT GAZAL
GAZAL is a Lebanese-Australian artist whose music fuses her cultural roots with a bold, contemporary edge. Raised with a strong emphasis on loyalty and family, her upbringing fostered a deep sense of connection that resonates throughout her work. Her storytelling is powerful and personal, exploring the complexities of navigating life as a woman today. Through her music, GAZAL gives voice to women seeking to express their experiences and stand in their strength.

Her previous singles have already made an impact, landing on Spotify’s Fresh Finds global playlist and going viral on TikTok with over 15 million views. And this is just the beginning. GAZAL’s new sound leans confidently into her sassy, unapologetically ethnic identity, becoming a voice of empowerment for those who feel overlooked by the world. As she steps into 2025, her fearless blend of cultural pride and defiance is set to leave a lasting mark.

MAINLAND BREAK drop double A-side ‘I GIVE IN’ + ‘ENDLESSLY’

Denver-based indie rock band Mainland Break have returned with their first instance of new music for 2025. A double A-side encasing tracks ‘I Give In’ and ‘Endlessly’, the bewitching new release was produced and engineered by Mark Anderson (Sylvan Esso), mixed by Joey Oaxaca (White Reaper, twen, Mamalarky), and mastered by Nick Townsend (Cheap Trick, Weezer, Frankie And The Witch Fingers).

Having embarked upon their first trip down under in 2024 with the One Way Ticket To Midnight Tour, building connections and memories which would establish Australia as something of a second home outside of Colorado for them, Mainland Break are long-time fans of the local music scene in Oz.

Honouring this long-standing love for the country’s music by taking influence from an array of Aussie acts both big and small, their personal brand of gritty yet melancholic indie rock has drawn comparisons to the likes of Floodlights, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and RVG.

The first of the new singles, ‘I Give In’, is a bittersweet anthem unveiling the eternal inner conflict between resignation and resistance in our day-to-day lives. Capturing the melancholic, floating energy of these commonplace struggles detailed in the song, Mainland Break expand;

“‘I Give In’ is about experiencing warring emotions and feeling unable to change the process or eventual outcome. It’s about taking the path of least resistance and losing an internal struggle. The wave crashes over you, but also propels you. You love, but you hold yourself back from loving. Tension builds, but tension fades. You’re emotionally nimble, but emotionally shackled. You feel mobile, but you are stuck.”  MAINLAND BREAK

The second of the singles, ‘Endlessly’, was inspired by the concept that all individuals die twice; once in the corporeal sense, and again when that person’s name is spoken aloud for the final time. Delving into this philosophy with a charming and healthy dose of anxious pondering, the band unravel the concept further:

“This idea clumsily opens the door for a multitude of other deaths that I now feel the need to generate and contemplate. What about the last time someone looks at a photograph of me? Or the last time someone looks at a photograph I took? Or the last time a telemarketer updates their list upon realizing someone else now owns my old phone number?”  MAINLAND BREAK

Expanding on the song which emerged from this thought exercise, the band said: “‘Endlessly’ criticizes societal obsession with legacy while embracing the inherent impact of one’s existence on the universe. Many people desperately wish to control how they are remembered, frantically trying to delay their “second death,” while statues and monuments of those like them are perpetually erected and demolished. They fear that their lives will pass imperceptibly, like a drop of water falling into an ocean. Then again, how can you possibly undo the effect of a water droplet falling into the ocean? The resulting ripples, no matter how small, have forever changed the surface of the sea. Even our smallest actions change the course of history. We may put a name on a building or mountain to honor someone’s legacy, but that isn’t their true legacy. Your true legacy is your existence itself. Every breath and every footstep you’ve ever taken is carved permanently into the universe, and it will never stop speaking your name.”  MAINLAND BREAK

COUSIN TONY’S BRAND NEW FIREBIRD MAKE BLISTERING RETURN WITH  NEW TRACK ‘MY GHOST & ITS CRAWLING’. NEW ALBUM ROSEWATER CROCODILE OUT JULY 10th VIA DOUBLE DRUMMER

Melbourne indie darlings Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird return with ‘My Ghost & Its Crawling’ — a brooding and poetic new track released Friday, June 6. Taken from the band’s forthcoming record, Rosewater Crocodile, the latest offering from the group is urgent, raw and refined: perfectly encompassing the musical traits that have made Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird one of the East Coast’s best.

Following on from recent singles ‘Mercury Rising’ and ‘Rosewater’, ‘My Ghost & Its Crawling’ sees frontman and songwriter Lachlan Rose at a fresh and raw lyrical peak. Emotionally charged, the single weaves surreal imagery into a slow-burning, cinematic soundscape, as it explores lingering spectres of memory and love.

Sonically, the track recalls the reflective weight of The National, and the emotional swell of Matt Corby — but remains distinctly Cousin Tony’s in its melodic ambition and lyrical vulnerability. Says Rose of the song, ‘My Ghost & Its Crawling’ explores the haunting nature of memory, and the forms that significant people assume within our own psyches. In some ways I think people from our past live inside us as very real, living, breathing entities. They can be talked with, argued with, listened to and loved, for better or for worse. In my experience, no matter how hard you exorcise those spirits, they can still be heard crawling around in the attics and the garrets and the nooks and in the hallways of your heart. This song is sung from the perspective of such a spirit”. Lachlan Rose, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird

Rosewater Crocodile, itself, is one of the band’s most open and poignant records to date. An album that flourishes of expertly-delivered melody and harmonies (‘Rosewater’, ‘Mango Season’) as it does with the rhythmic broodiness that fans of The National will love (‘Flee The Cage’, ‘Jane Bear’, ‘Rest’), Rosewater Crocodile is a beautiful fusion of matured lyricism and confident arrangements. For Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird, this is an album that represents an unique chapter of their artistry.

“The album was recorded on Dja Dja Wurrung Country inside a beautiful chapel on Josh’s property, a couple of hours from the city. Most of the time it was utterly freezing but we ran with kangaroos in the frosty woods some mornings, ate his wife Marta’s outrageous pumpkin pie, and warmed our hands by the fireplace so we felt dextrous enough to play instruments. One thing that stands out to me is how little music we listened to while we made this album. When people ask what it sounds like, I don’t really know what to tell them – other than maybe Phil Collins’ original soundtrack for Disney’s Tarzan”

Lachlan Rose, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird

Since Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird made their emphatic entry with debut album Electric Brown in 2018, the band wasted no time in releasing music that consistently showed elevation and a masonic curiosity to expand their sonic vision. To date, they have released three albums in Electric Brown (2018), New Romancer (2019) and Smiles of Earth (2022) – Rosewater Crocodile is set to be the next exciting addition to an ever-powerful catalogue of music.

With their prolific output and constant touring, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird have built a devoted following in their homeland. They’ve sold out shows across massive headline tours and have played at numerous festivals including Falls Festival, Loch Hart, Happy Wanderer, NYE on the Hill and Beyond the Valley and now they are ready to be back in the van;

“The tour has been a long time coming. We’re at our happiest in a van together on a 10 hour drive. But the show at the end of the ride always transcends that feeling. We’re so humbled by the joyous, nurturing and cathartic essence of the crowds that come to Cousin Tony shows. To be immersed so regularly in them is a true pleasure and one we’ll be seeking out as long as we live. Special mentions to our treasured saxophonist Oliver Whitehead who is returning from living overseas straight into our tour van. Happy days.”

Lachlan Rose, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird

Rosewater Crocodile will be released digitally and on vinyl (via Impressed) on Friday July 10, followed by an Australian headline tour in July and August. Tickets are on sale now and moving quickly.

SARA STORER SHARES HEARTFELT SINGLE ‘WORTH YOUR LOVE’ FEATURING HER NIECE, SAMMY STORER

Beloved Australian singer-songwriter Sara Storer – known for her lyrical honesty, golden voice, and deep connection to country life – has always drawn strength and inspiration from her close-knit, musically gifted family. Now, she’s shining a spotlight on the next generation of Storer talent.

From the dusty plains of the bush to the national stage, music runs thick in the Storer bloodline. Sara’s brother Greg has long been part of her creative journey, contributing his voice, songwriting and instrumental flair across her discography. Notably, her brother Greg and his daughters, Bonny and Pip, helped shape the Golden Guitar winning album Storer in 2023.

Continuing this cherished family tradition, Sara’s latest single, ‘Worth Your Love’, features the enchanting voice of her niece, rising talent Sammy Storer. The song, co-written by Sammy and her father Doug Storer, was lovingly crafted as a wedding gift for her sister. Brimming with tender emotion, the track captures the bittersweet emotions of letting go of a beloved sister as she finds new love and begins a new chapter in marriage.

Doug Storer, a seasoned songwriter himself, also co-penned one of Sara’s most iconic songs, ‘Raining on the Plains’, a stirring duet with John Williamson that has become a timeless classic in Australian country music.

Sara says, “I’m absolutely thrilled to release this very special song—and even more excited to introduce everyone to the extraordinary voice and songwriting soul of my niece, Sammy. And then in her trademark down-to-earth style jokes, “She must’ve inherited all her talent from her aunty!”

‘Worth Your Love’ is the third single lifted from Sara’s eagerly awaited 8th solo album, set to be released on 26 June 2025.

LYDIA LUCE “Wisteria” (Single)

Nashville-based singer/songwriter Lydia Luce shares her new single “Wisteria,” a dreamy celebration of hope and the space to change. Produced by Jordan Lehning (Joy Oladokun, Caitlin Rose, Kacey Musgraves) and co-written with songwriting duo Jake Finch and Collin Pastore (Lucy Dacus), the track gently wraps around Luce’s vocals before building into a swell of strings as she declares “Everything seems possible / Anything is possible.” The accompanying music video finds Luce exploring the English countryside after the song was recorded at Real World Studios.

Lydia Luce on the new single: “Quite often I’m at home and I hear my partner laughing or singing to himself upstairs. It makes me so happy. I sometimes can’t believe we are where we are. Our relationship began with substance abuse and codependency and we have found our way to a safe and loving marriage with the help of therapy and the willingness to grow. This song is about hope and believing that change can happen. I feel that way with our relationship and with my chronic pain/injuries. It’s so beautiful it makes me want to cry. We will continue to face challenges and there will be weeks of physical pain but I know we can get to the other side with time. For now it feels so good to sit on my couch with my dog and listen to Ryan sing to himself upstairs.”

She continues, “The music video for ‘Wisteria’ was filmed in the English countryside with Katie Sylvester. We had just finished recording at Real World Studios in Box and we stayed a few days extra to film in the area. We wandered through fields of cows and sheep and filmed at the beautiful Iford Manor gardens.”

“Wisteria” follows Luce’s April single “Florence,” a breathy and beautiful lullaby she wrote for her future child, which coincidentally released just weeks after she found out she was expecting. These two songs are her first new music since the 2023 LP Florida Girl, which garnered praise from The Fader and prompted The Tennessean to declare “Like a siren, Lydia Luce’s voice beckons her listeners deep inside a reflective world of intoxicating cosmic pop.” Luce’s 2021 album Dark River similarly saw acclaim from Under The Radar, FLOOD and Paste, who said “Luce’s brand of spellbinding folk is made all the better by her virtuosity as a classical musician.” A classically trained violinist, Luce and her longtime creative collaborator Jordan Lehning run the Nashville-based strings collective Lockeland Strings, a community arts organization that hosts monthly showcases of local artists accompanied by string quintet, alongside performances of new contemporary classical pieces from local composers.

Later this month, Luce will head to the west coast for a run of dates supporting Cornelia Murr, with stops in San Diego, Ojai, San Francisco and more. See a full list of dates below and find more info here: lydialuce.com/shows.

JESSE DANIEL’S new album Son of the San Lorenzo is out now via Lightning Rod Records / Thirty Tigers.

Rising country artist Jesse Daniel has released his new album Son of the San Lorenzo via Lightning Rod Records/Thirty Tigers. Recorded live to tape at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville and featuring a collaboration with Charles Wesley Godwin, the 11-song collection offers up a candid accounting of Daniel’s remarkable journey, from his early years hitchhiking in the shadow of the Santa Cruz Mountains to his tumultuous adolescence and battles with addiction, to the people, and music, that ultimately saved his life.

This summer, Daniel will traverse across continents with shows in Brazil, a tour through Europe, a West Coast run and his debut headline show at the legendary Texas institution Billy Bob’s. He’ll then make his way down to Nashville for AmericanaFest, and in October, will tour through Australia. Find a full list of AU tour dates below or visit his website.

Listen to Son of the San Lorenzo

“I wrote, arranged and produced this record myself,” shares Daniel. “I also took on much of the sonic direction, including percussion, rhythm and lead guitar, harmonies and more, which I think is a really important piece of the puzzle given how personal these songs are. I felt like I was finally ready to stop running and face things head on with this record. I felt like I’d matured enough to go deeper than I ever had before, to try and understand how I get here and where I’m headed.”

Daniel shared a series of pre-release singles including the nostalgic “Mountain Home,” which Wide Open Country lauded as “a warm and relaxing song that paints a beautifully vivid picture.” It followed the heartfelt reflection “Time Well Spent For A Man ft. Charles Wesley Godwin” that earned a rave 9.1 review from Country Central who called it “beautiful” and the hopeful and soulful first single “My Time Is Gonna Come,” which garnered praise from American Songwriter, Whiskey Riff, Holler, All Country News and more.

Taking shape while he was on the road last year, the album expands on his sound in a way that wears its influences on its sleeve, from the California country of the Eagles and the Flying Burrito Brothers to classic rock like Led Zeppelin and the Allman Brothers. In addition to the Charles Wesley Godwin feature, it includes instrumentation from Charlie McCoy, Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboardist Peter Keys and SteelDrivers banjo player Richard Bailey.

Last year marked a turning point for Daniel’s career, beginning with creating the theme song to comedian Dusty Slay’s Netflix special Workin’ Man that was released in January. He then released his critically-acclaimed album Countin’ The Miles which garnered praise from Billboard, Texas Monthly, Cowboys & Indians, Bandcamp, BrooklynVegan, Whiskey Riff, No Depression, Holler and many more. The album went on to debut in the top 30 on the Americana Radio Chart and led to a tour supporting Godwin. To close out the year, he released a duo of collaborative singles with Benjamin Tod which was followed by a co-headline tour.

More about Kevin Borich
The latest ARCA desk tape is Kevin Borich, who has won Best Guitarist at many awards nights, and who reveals that his highest charting hit single “Gonna See My Baby Tonight” was inspired by two of his crew. Starting out in New Zealand, he was ambitious from his teen days, singing “Sometimes I hear my guitar sing” on “Don’t Let Go”. He explains, “The song is about passion, and going for what you want.  “Most of the guys I went for were classically trained and read music. “I only had one lesson but it seemed too much like school. I just wanted to play, getting my sound together.”

He earned an overseas following with numerous tours in North America and Europe. But Kevin Borich continually impressed the cream of international guitar heroes.

At the final Sunbury Festival in 1975, he was walking backstage after the La De Das’ set, and a Deep Purple’s guitar tech asked, “Who was just on?”

“That was my band.”  “Oh, Ritchie (Blackmore) thought it was great.”

“Well, why don’t you tell him to come down to Bombay Rock and jam with us tonight?” Midway through the night’s set, Kevin spotted a white Strat being carried above the heads of the packed-out crowd, and Blackmore was on stage.

In November 1977, the Kevin Borich Express played on the Rockarena series with Santana, Fleetwood Mac and Little River Band. Carlos Santana heard Borich at the Moore Park Sydney show before 43,000 and was impressed.

At Calder Park in Melbourne a week later, Kevin was watching Carlos side-stage when during a drum solo, a roadie came over, “Carlos wants you on” and strapped a guitar on him.

The 40,000-strong crowd went nuts. Carlos gestured for him to take a solo.  A few years later when Santana came with drummer Buddy Miles, he invited him to join them at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Santana said: “He’s amazing. He presents his music honestly and is one of the best guitarists I’ve heard.” Joe Walsh of The Eagles is a close friend. They played together in a Party Boys lineup in 1984.

After the first rehearsal Joe rang him at his Bondi apartment, “Do you have a spare couch?” Since then, Walsh stays at Kevin’s homes.

FANGZ ‘Anne Marie (SIngle/Video)

Following the release of their emotionally raw single, ‘Anne Marie’, Eora/Sydney punks FANGZ return with an explosive music video that’s equal parts tribute and chaos. The band will release their debut album, ‘Shui’ – on Friday, July 4, via Impressed Recordings. Pre-order HERE.

Directed by Rhys Bennett (DZ Deathrays, Totally Unicorn), the video is set in a makeshift break room inside a borrowed warehouse. To bring the clip to life, FANGZ went full DIY. “We asked our boss if we could use a corner of his warehouse because we’re poor,” the band explains. “We wanted to smash a whole bunch of stuff towards the camera, so we ordered three pieces of plexiglass off Amazon and built a custom rig to protect the gear. Luckily, Josh is a carpenter,” they add.

The result is a loud, messy, and unapologetically FANGZ-style tribute to live music, chaos, and the people who keep you going. “Playing live is our therapy. This track is us saying thank you the only way we know how—loudly. And yes—everyone involved walked away with a chest infection from inhaling ceramic and glass dust.”

To coincide with the video release, FANGZ have launched pre-orders for a range of exclusive merch bundles, with four different pack options available. Fans can snap up vinyl, shirts, hoodies, hats, stubby holders, patches—and even limited edition FANGZ yo-yos. All items are available now via fangz.band.

DAILY J DROP CARNIVAL-THEMED ‘DAYDREAMER’ VIDEO AND ANNOUNCE SUPPORTS FOR UPCOMING NEW ZEALAND TOUR

Tāmaki Makaurau-based indie psych-pop band Daily J have today unveiled the official video for their track ‘Daydreamer’, ahead of their final New Zealand tour before making the jump across the ditch to Australia later in the year.

Filmed on a whim during Adelaide’s Fringe Festival while the band was unexpectedly grounded by Cyclone Alfred, the band teamed up with filmmaker Dylan Martin (@dylanrmartinn) to create a vibrant, carnival-themed visual. With rollercoasters, spontaneous lighting setups, and shooting conditions pushing 30+ degrees, the DIY clip captures the joy, chaos and sweat of a band making the most of a strange detour.

“The rollercoaster shots were definitely sketchy—the camera almost went overboard a couple of times,” Dylan explains. “And those scenes with the intense lighting? That was a sweat fest. It must have been over 30 degrees in Adelaide that day, and everything was set up inside blacked-out containers… big sauna vibes,” he adds.

Produced and mixed by Joe Faris and mastered by Chris Chetland at KOG Mastering, ‘Daydreamer’ was recorded at Auckland’s Parachute Studios — a dreamy, groove-heavy track capturing the band at their most effortless and euphoric.

The music video lands alongside the announcement of support acts for Daily J’s ‘One For The Road’ New Zealand tour, their final Aotearoa run before relocating to Australia. Joining the tour are New Zealand up-and-comers Hot Sauce Club, The Darlings, Mirage and George Villa. The eight-date farewell tour kicks off this June and wraps with a final hometown show in Tāmaki Makaurau.

Born in Marlborough and currently based in Auckland, Daily J – comprised of brothers Jayden, Jonny, Jesse and long-time friend Rick – have spent the past few years building a loyal following across New Zealand and abroad. With their signature blend of dreamy indie-rock textures, warm fuzzy-grooves, and pop-laced electronica, the band has made a name for themselves as one of the country’s most exciting live acts.

Their recent album ‘Scatterbrains’ has quickly cemented itself as a career-defining release. Recent singles ‘Cheap Tequila Sunrise’, ‘Sunday Stitches’, and ‘Tastes Like Forever’ have already resonated strongly across platforms and live audiences alike with strong support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Spotify, Apple Music, Rolling Stone Magazine, NME, Ones To Watch and many more.

With a fresh chapter on the horizon, the Farewell New Zealand Tour is a special opportunity to catch Daily J one last time on home soil before they begin their next adventure.

Vocalist Josh Todd commented on the single: “Shootin’ the good boys down. ‘Machine Gun’ is about a hot girl that only likes bad boys; growing up in Southern California as a teenager there was a lot of them.”

On new the new album, he continues “We made a point on this record to have no ballads and no cover songs, Roar Like Thunder kicks ass and that’s pretty much it.”

‘Machine Gun’ follows the release of previous singles ‘Set It Free‘,  ‘Roar Like Thunder‘ and ‘Come On‘.

Roar Like Thunder was recorded in Nashville and produced by Marti Frederiksen, who also produced the band’s prior two releases: Hellbound and Vol. 10.  The album will be released in North America by Round Hill; in Japan by Sony Japan; and by Earache for the rest of the world.

The two-time GRAMMY-nominated band have created an album that’s bursting at the seams with lightning-hot rock’n’roll. From the the horn-swelling swagger of ‘I Go Boom’ and the honey-dripping riffs of ‘Blackout’, to the AC/DC stomp of ‘Come On’ and the frantic runaway train rhythm of the title track, Roar Like Thunder sees a band that bring live rock’n’roll to the stage more days a year than the sun is seen in Britain, and set that energy off like a bottle rocket in the studio. The album was mastered by Anthony Focx (Metallica, Aerosmith).
