Melbourne artist GYPSY LEE isn’t just releasing a new single – she’s making a statement.
Her instantly-addictive new release, ‘I HOPE YOU LIKE CRAZY GIRLS’, sees one of Australia’s most exciting emerging voices bring a friend along for the wild ride.
Teaming up with the uniquely talented EVIE IRIE, the pair flip one of pop culture’s oldest stereotypes into a euphoric celebration of emotional honesty and female friendship.
Bursting with hook after hook, ‘I Hope You Like Crazy Girls’ feels like reading someone’s diary. Equal parts biting, vulnerable and fun, it’s a fearless power-pop anthem that is proudly unapologetic.
“Women are often made to feel ashamed of being emotional or feeling things too deeply,” Gypsy says. “I wanted to reclaim that label and celebrate the fun, freedom and joy in embracing every side of yourself.”
It’s a love letter to friendship, fun and love itself. From getting kicked out of bars to bringing a man to tears, ‘I Hope You Like Crazy Girls’ captures the thrill of two friends embracing chaos and refusing to shrink themselves to fit anyone else’s expectations.
“There is no greater joy than getting to work with my friends on music,” Evie adds. “Gypsy is such a star and beam of sunlight, to get to explore her creative world and add my own touch on I Hope You Like Crazy Girls is like being a kid at a candy shop!”
The world of ‘I Hope You Like Crazy Girls’ extends beyond the music with visuals directed by collaborator Wilk and filmed on the streets of Melbourne. As Wilk describes it, it’s “a celebration of female friendship disguised as a road movie…the destination doesn’t matter, the night itself is the adventure.”
The single also marks the next chapter in the rollout of Gypsy Lee’s highly anticipated sophomore EP, ON A MISSION FROM GOD AND GUCCI, arriving September 30. Across four tracks—including fan favourites ‘Snitches’ and ‘What Doesn’t Kill You Costs You a Lot in Therapy’—the project showcases a fearless artist ready to take on the world.

Creeping in gently like the morning’s first cold rays, ‘Better’ examines the complexities of navigating long-term partnership, skittering over warped guitars and Eliza Hull’s unmistakeably expressive vocals as the song softly builds to clattering chorus drums, dramatic cymbal brushes and forlorn piano – sonically capturing the gut-wrenching, tumultuous-but-tender feelings that can come at “that complicated point in a relationship where you want so badly for things to work that you begin questioning not only the relationship, but yourself – that space where things aren’t necessarily broken, but they don’t feel quite right either”. Recorded at Sound Recordings on Dja Dja Wurrung Country, co-produced and co-written with ARIA Award-winning producer Pip Norman (Missy Higgins, Baker Boy, Mia Wray), mixed by Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding), and mastered by Lachlan Carrick (Emma Donovan, Meg Washington), ‘Better’ arrives alongside a hazy film video that sees Hull navigate the world alone – white-sheet beds, misty creeks, lonely restaurants and beyond, shot on Dja Dja Wurrung Country by Jack Jowett (Why We Kill). Of the single and video, Eliza Hull says: “Better’ isn’t about questioning the people I love. It’s about the complexity of being surrounded by love, family and a life you’re deeply grateful for, while still having moments when something inside you doesn’t feel okay. What I was really working out was how do I keep showing up here? How do I make myself better, so I can make this better? I was exploring the way we can internalise responsibility when something in a relationship doesn’t feel right. I also wanted it to acknowledge that most long relationships go through periods where things aren’t perfect. You can deeply love somebody and still have moments of distance, uncertainty or disconnection. With the video, I went for something really natural and filmed on film which I think shows the organic, vulnerability of the song.”
Against a backdrop of uncertainty, transformation and emotional reckoning, with You’d Think We’d Be Used To Change By Now, Eliza Hull has been crafting the most fearless and personal music of her career – co-producing for the first time – all the while fighting against what she describes as her “inner saboteur”. Across 11 tracks, You’d Think We’d Be Used To Change By Now is stunningly raw, contemplative, brooding and expertly layered with organic and electronic textural elements; a record at its core about change via a culmination of honest conversations the songwriter, musician and advocate has had with herself, sharing stories that have manifested from periods of self-doubt and identity shifts – ultimately arriving at a place of replenished empowerment and trust in her own place as “a woman, mother, partner and artist”. Co-produced by Hull and longtime collaborator, ARIA Award-winner Pip Norman (Missy Higgins, Baker Boy, Mia Wray), dotted with a single feature by Hayden Calnin and written and recorded between sessions in Naarm/Melbourne, so-called Castlemaine on Dja Dja Wurrung Country and London after losing confidence in herself as an artist – a moment she describes as a “breakdown” – Hull was able to rebuild and find home in herself and her abilities once she returned to Victoria, fleshing out these stories with Norman and her band with production on two unreleased songs (‘Balcony’ & ‘Places’) via Sneaker Pimps co-founder Liam Howe (fka twigs, MARINA). Working its way through stories of unravelling and rebuilding, the striking musicality at the album’s core remains a signature of Hull’s: a fusion of delicate and precise arrangements that are unafraid to get messy, coming together with an arresting vocal that fans of artists like Cat Power and Portishead will find warm familiarity in. CHLOE MARKS & THE MAYHEM BRING THREE YEARS OF LIFE, LOVE AND LATE NIGHTS TO DEBUT ALBUM ‘BRIGHT LIGHTS LATE NIGHTS’
Rising Brisbane country outfit Chloe Marks & The Mayhem throw open the doors on three years of heartbreak, sacrifice, late nights and hard-earned good times with their debut album Bright Lights Late Nights.
Across 11 tracks, the five-piece move freely between straight-shooting honky tonk, Americana and stripped-back balladry; documenting the real-life experiences that have shaped Chloe Marks and the band around her.
Written across one of the most transformative periods of Chloe’s life, the record traces heartbreak and loss, rebuilding a life as a single mum, chasing an increasingly all-consuming musical dream and the friendships that held everything together along the way.
She shares, “‘Bright Lights Late Nights’ is the physical representation of everything we’ve poured into being musicians. Not just the past year of writing, rehearsing, arranging, and recording these songs, but every moment that led us here.”
The bulk of the record was produced by Michael Moko and tracked at RagTag Studios on the Sunshine Coast, while two tracks – ‘What A Broken Heart Makes You Do’ and ‘Bound’ – were produced by Tyne Hadley. An intense three-day stretch at RagTag saw the bones take shape, with the band tracking live together.
“The process was demanding, but we approached it with one clear goal: to capture each song as close to the way we play it live as possible. Keeping that authenticity was incredibly important to me, and I think that raw, live energy is what gives the album its heart.”
The album’s title shares that heart; inspired by the life the band has built together – late-night gigs under bright stage lights, 3am finishes and rehearsals fuelled by coffee and a few hours’ sleep.
“The title isn’t just a lyric from the album – it represents who we are. We work hard, we give everything we’ve got, and when those bright lights come on, we bring absolute Mayhem.”
The swaggering ‘Break Some Hearts’ sits at Track 1 – a straight-shooting honky tonker that announces the band’s freewheeling spirit. Recent single ‘Don’t Make Me Choose’ follows suit, while reminding us these guys have serious chops, with blistering piano breaks and an epic guitar outro underpinning a song about choosing between the people you love and the thing you were born to do.
From there, the album refuses to stay in one lane. ‘Porch Light’ switches gears with a dash of contemporary balladry, while ‘Leave Me Hanging’ provides a welcome excuse to hit the dancefloor.
Just when you’re comfortable with the chaos, ‘What A Broken Heart Makes You Do’ strips everything back for one of the record’s most vulnerable moments. Long-time live favourite ‘Skip September’ turns grief into something the band can share with a crowd, while the tongue-in-cheek ‘Wild’, featuring Jake Hill of The Wet Whistles, lets loose with some cowboy charm.
Then there’s ‘Ayodele’ – the first country song Chloe ever wrote, penned more than a decade ago and recorded live in one take. Released as a single in April this year the track broke the CountryTown Top 50 at #46.
Closing the album is where it all began: the original demo of their 2025 debut single ‘Carolina’, complete with the laughter and studio banter of a band still discovering what it could become.
“It’s honest and raw, and at the same time fierce and explosive, and it’s an album that tells the story of who we are as a band.”
And that story stretches well beyond the stage.
Four of the band’s five members first met while studying music at QUT Kelvin Grove, later playing together around Brisbane long before Chloe Marks & The Mayhem took its current form. Through relationships, heartbreak, parenthood, financial struggles and the unpredictable realities of pursuing music, those friendships became family.
For Chloe, many of the songs also trace a particularly difficult period in which she found herself navigating divorce, raising two young children as a single mum, working full-time and playing gigs at night to support her family. Songwriting became somewhere to put everything she was living through – and eventually, the foundation for the band and album that followed.
“What began as a way to survive heartbreak became the thing that saved me. Starting up songwriting again gave me somewhere to put the grief, the fear, the anger and the hope. It reignited a passion I’d almost lost and became the foundation for this album.”
Along the way, Chloe Marks & The Mayhem have built considerable momentum. ‘Cheaper Than Therapy’ reached #8 on ABC Country’s Most Played, #14 on the AMRAP Community Radio Regional Airplay Chart and cracked the CountryTown Top 50, while recent single ‘Ayodele’ reached #46 on the CountryTown Hot 50 airplay chart.
They’ve taken their explosive live show to Groundwater Country Music Festival, Urban Country Music Festival, Town & Country Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival and Lasso CMF, alongside support slots for James Blundell and Tori Forsyth. They’ll return to Tamworth in January 2027 for a performance on the Toyota Park main stage.
But for all the milestones surrounding it, Bright Lights Late Nights ultimately comes back to the five people who made it and everything it took to get there.
“It’s the soundtrack to the lives we’ve lived together. The heartbreak, the hope, the sacrifices, the late nights, the laughter, the healing, and the dream we’ve refused to give up on. Every chapter of this album represents a chapter in our lives, and together they tell the story of how we found our way through the darkness and into the light.”

JESS BECK SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘MR. PREDICTABLE’ FROM FORTHCOMING EP PROJECT A LITTLE BROKEN
JESS BECK steps further into her power as an artist with the reveal of her brand new creative chapter: an exciting solo EP, A LITTLE BROKEN. With over a decade’s experience creating and performing music around the country as part of the group Pirra, Jess’ venture into solo territory has been born out of a period of personal change and growth. The release is supported by a Sound NSW Contemporary Music Development Grant, which made the recording of the EP possible.
From the EP, she shares the dynamic first single – ‘Mr. Predictable’. Created with longtime friend and musical partner JAMES McKENDRY, the track is a poignant insight into what the larger EP from Jess is set to sound like. It also speaks to the strength in artistry shared between Jess and James, a musical partnership that stretches back to their first meeting in 2009.
“James had originally written the song as a tongue-in-cheek dig at himself. I loved the melody and the idea, but I thought it would be much more fun to flip the perspective and tell the story from the woman’s point of view.”
“From there, the song took on a life of its own. It became about the frustration of dealing with someone who always puts themselves first, but in a way that’s funny, honest and a little bit cheeky. It’s the kind of song you can laugh about, sing along to, and maybe even see a bit of yourself in. Judging by how many of my girlfriends immediately related to it, it’s a story that’s more universal than any of us would like to admit. “ JESS BECK
“Mr Predictable’ was a rough demo I had written years ago about being a lousy boyfriend. My girlfriend always wanted to go out and travel and have adventures, but I was pretty content chilling in the hammock at home. Jess heard it and had the idea of flipping it around to be from the girlfriend’s perspective. My favourite part was Jess and I doing the group vocals in a shed. I kept singing the wrong lyrics and I had to keep stepping further away from the microphone and moving Jess in closer because I was singing too loud.” JAMES McKENDRY
As a singer-songwriter, Jess achieved national recognition with her previous band project for music that spoke to a natural storytelling talent. Emotionally driven lyrics were matched by passionate performance; two elements of artistry that Jess has been able to expand beautifully upon with her present solo work. AS I LAY DYING enter a new chapter with their self-titled album As I Lay Dying.
On February 5, 2027, Grammy-nominated metalcore pioneers AS I LAY DYING return with their new self-titled album, As I Lay Dying, via Napalm Records. For 25 years, the band has helped shape the global metalcore scene through eight acclaimed studio albums, uncompromising heaviness and unmistakable melodic songwriting.
With the two new singles “Polarized” and “Retribution”, AS I LAY DYING showcase two deliberately contrasting sides of their new album. “Polarized” leans into a more melodic and accessible direction, combining heavy riffs with an immediate, driving song structure. “Retribution” takes a darker, faster and more aggressive approach, highlighting the heavier side of the band’s sound. Together, the two tracks offer an early look at the musical range of As I Lay Dying, with much of the album occupying the space between those two directions. We weren’t trying to recreate one era of the band or force the songs into a narrow definition of what AILD should sound like. As I Lay Dying combines the band’s signature heaviness with melodic and modern elements while moving through a wide range of dynamics across the album. Lyrically, the record explores transformation, letting go and personal growth. “If I Fall” combines raw intensity with vulnerability, confronting abandonment, judgment and the strength to rise again, while “Echoes” creates a darker, emotionally charged atmosphere centered around breaking free from destructive bonds. The album was produced by Chris Clancy and Tim Lambesis, with “No Way Out” produced by Dusten Boles, connecting the band’s past and future while expanding their sound.
AS I LAY DYING – Tim Lambesis (Vocals, Additional Guitars), Chris Clancy (Bass, Main Chorus Vocals), Don Vedda (Guitar, Vocal Harmonies), Bill Hudson (Guitar) and Tim Yeung (Drums) – deliver an album that captures a broad range of the band’s sound. Echoing nostalgia for a future that never arrives on Monumental!
Leading the way for their upcoming studio album Monumental, out on October 23, 2026, via Napalm Records, Ukrainian modern metal architects IGNEA today unveil their third single, entitled “Prefab.” The track arrives as a highly industrial metal anthem feat. aggrotech and electro-industrial icon Andy LaPlegua of Combichrist, whose voice perfectly complements the offering of IGNEA’s vocalist Helle Bohdanova as well as the song’s atmosphere and theme, thus turning it into a true rave soundtrack for metalheads.
IGNEA’s new record Monumental is set around the concept of nostalgia, with “Prefab” getting in line with this idea, as it’s looking at two sides of the album’s overall theme—architecture and collective memory.
Helle Bohdanova about “Prefab”: “‘Prefab’ reflects on the darker side of nostalgia—prefabricated socialist buildings, originally meant to give everyone a roof over their heads. But like many socialist ideals, the concept was flawed at its core: uniform, industrial, stripping people of individuality and personal choice, making them feel like ants inside their own homes. Remnants of this architecture still stand across Europe—from Ukraine and Poland, from Germany to France—and while people may recall personal memories of them, that nostalgia is often bittersweet at best, rooted in poverty and authoritarian regime.
As Ukrainians from a post-Soviet country, we grew up surrounded by the physical remains of a system that promised a bright future and delivered the opposite. What’s stranger is that even knowing how flawed it was, many people still feel a pull toward certain parts of Soviet life. And it’s not just us—plenty of Westerners romanticize Soviet aesthetics too, nostalgic for a past they never lived.
In the ‘Prefab’ video, we wanted to convey the feeling of a confined, uniform space, a cramped room representing a typical Soviet apartment, where only the tenants ever change.
When we shaped the demo around ‘Prefab’, we were basically hearing Andy’s vocals in the back of our minds, and we’re so glad he agreed to lend his voice. Having Combichrist as part of the industrial metal banger on our upcoming album—what could be more iconic?

Monumental is IGNEA’s second full-length album that was written during the full-scale war in Ukraine. The recording process mostly took place in the winter of 2025-2026, during icy temperatures and long power outages in Kyiv.
Helle Bohdanova says about Monumental: “Back in the 17th century, nostalgia was considered a deadly disease—and in many ways, it still is. It’s a universal feeling experienced by every human being, pulling us toward a past that felt gentler than it truly was, especially during the bitter moments of the present. Much of this album was inspired by modernist architecture—concrete giants built to signal progress and a brighter future, now slowly decaying. They’ve become a sort of memory box: monuments to unrealized dreams, where the future that was once imagined never arrived, yet continues to echo through the ruins and bright mosaics.”

On Monumental, IGNEA takes the listener on nostalgic rides, with all their ups and downs, expressed in music and lyrics, carrying a sense of gentle sadness and reflection, as nostalgia can bring back beautiful memories, darkened by the awareness that these moments will never happen again.
Following Dreams of Lands Unseen (2023), the band navigates through unique facets of the past across nine tracks—from the grandeur and ambition of Cold War space dreams to the melancholy of urban decay and forgotten modernist structures, all the way to the emotional weight of personal and collective memory. All lyrics on Monumental were written by vocalist Helle Bohdanova. The music was composed by keyboardist Yevhenii Zhytniuk, with additional contributions from Helle Bohdanova. Mixing and mastering were handled by Grammy Award-nominated producer Jacob Hansen, known for his work with bands such as DELAIN, Amaranthe, Volbeat, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, and Epica.

Where “Watch As We Rise” was the soundtrack of the empire coming down, “Liars Linger” is about the kind of betrayal that only cuts this deep when it comes from someone you trusted with your life, whose words turn out to be
worthless and whose blades were sharpened long before you saw them coming.
Exhausted but still marching, the song refuses to let that wreckage harden into fear, turning the pain into the very
strength that carries you back out of it. It builds with tension before breaking wide open into a chorus that no longer belongs just to the band, leaving you standing taller than it found you.

WORMWOOD Now unveil the official lyric video for Purposeless Geometry. The second track from the band’s EP Å.
Purposeless Geometry portrays Stockholm from the margins of society, a city of buildings, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure created to bring structure and direction to human existence. Yet as the sense of belonging fades, so too does the meaning of the surrounding world. What once symbolized function, progress, and purpose gradually dissolves into empty geometric forms within an environment where the individual has become alienated from both society and themselves.
In the lyric video, the words take center stage, accompanied by slow, almost documentary-like footage captured throughout Stockholm and its outskirts.
The video features previously unreleased handheld footage from the filming of the “YRA | EXTAS” music video, starring actress Astrid Hallén, alongside aerial drone footage shot by Svartna Film. The video also includes a separate acting performance by Crister Claesson. The result serves as a visual extension of the song’s central theme: humanity placed amid the monumental structures of the modern city, while their original purpose slowly erodes and disappears.

Their debut album “Primal Fear” was released in February 1998 and entered the German LP charts at place 48, thus making it one of the highest chart entries of a debut album in German Metal history. Anton Kabanen comments:
“The song is about Ridley Scott’s 1979 film called ”Alien”. But the main reason to write about it was my fascination with the biomechanical nightmare art of Hans Ruedi Giger. Ever since I was a teenager I’ve seen recurring nightmares about a xenomorph hunting me in dystopian themed environments, yet never quite catching me (thank goodness!). Beside the creature’s downright perverted and extreme appearance I find it sensual, elegant, intense, fierce, horrifying, exotic and mysterious, almost as if it’s a beauty and a beast merged into one. And in a funny way it turned out that it’s I who captured my assailant, the xenomorph, inside a song after all these years!
It was in early 2020 in Turku (a city in Finland), when Roman Ismailov and I were hanging out at a hotel and working on the first sketches for the ‘’Dark Connection” album cover, then alongside came the idea of making Giger’s art-inspired album cover, if not now then possibly for the 4th album, so here we are.
Though the song is solely based on the first film, James Cameron’s sequel ”Aliens” is equally important to me in terms of an emotional impact. We tried to blend some of the feel from both films into our music video, with Cameron’s influence weighing more on the visual side of industrial elements. Another speciality in the video and on the album cover is the debut of our XENOBEAST, which was, quite obviously, designed by Roman Ismailov. In the video you’ll also see some reptilian-looking embryos which may raise a question: are the reptilians and the Xenobeast actually of the same alien race but shown in their radically different stage of metamorphosis, or is the Xenobeast rather a Cerberus-type of a creature guarding the eggs?
We’re absolutely thrilled about this beautiful cinematic video which wouldn’t have been possible without Katri Ilona Koppanen (director) and Emil Pohjalainen (Nestruction Studios) who pushed their abilities to the extreme and beyond to fight against a juggernaut of challenges! We, the band, salute you!”
With new lead guitarist Markus Venehsalo recently joining the ranks, ‘Fear The Beast’ offers the band’s trademark dance beat-driven heavy metal, instantly memorable riffs and melodies, raw vocal power and fiery solos.

Charlie Pittman drops his latest track today, ‘in your system’ alongside a brand-new one take live performance video. The singer-songwriter also announces an East-Coast headline tour this November, right before he hits the road to support UK singer songwriter Henry Moodie next month.
Following previous singles ‘glued’ ft. Paige, and ‘chew’, ‘in your system’ was written in LA with friends David Alexander (Sadie Jean, Katseye) and Amelie Kalia McGrath. Charlie describes ‘in your system’ as “essentially about that uncomfortable stage after a breakup where you know something is over, but you’re still looking for signs that you haven’t completely disappeared from the other person’s life. At its core, it’s about ego, longing, and that need to know you haven’t been completely erased.”
Over the past year Charlie has been teasing ‘in your system’ during his live sets, quickly evolving into yet another fan-favouite track before its official release. “I’ve been playing the song live for the past year, but only acoustically,” Charlie shares. “Living with it in that setting really helped shape how I wanted to approach the production — particularly the dynamics and the bigger gang-vocal moments, while still keeping the intimacy that the song had live.” The visual evolved from this process delivering a one take live performance music video clip shot in Sydney. Directed by Sydney based director Liam Deans, produced and photography by Jasmine Calacoci and audio engineer and live recording by Robbie Macpherson, we see Charlie performing the song live with his band; Kyle Charles Hall on guitars and backing vocals, Bryce Pauling on bass guitar and Giac Benvenuto on drums.

ABOUT CHARLIE PITTMAN
Charlie spent his childhood in England before moving back to Australia. In 2024, the self-taught musician released his debut EP ‘nothing is forever’ that contained the heartbreaking ode to grief ‘dog, black’, followed by his second EP ‘okay, again?’ in 2025 on Island Records Australia. Charlie’s sophomore EP saw him collaborate with producer Jonathan Class, US singer and songwriter Abby Holliday, US based songwriter and producer Dan Swank, Australian Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Lach Bostock, singer-songwriter Laura Hyde, London based producer and songwriter Itamar Lapidot, and singer-songwriter Francesca Morris. With over 2.4 million streams Charlie has garnered strong support across DSP’s, triple j and BBC Radio 1 Future Hits. He has supported Fly By Midnight, Sydney Rose, The Rions, The Manatees, The Band Camino, Drax Project, Loretta, performed at Liverpool Sound City, BIGSOUND 2024, SXSW Sydney in 2025 along with sold-out London and Australian headline shows. Charlie is also a Drama school and football academy graduate.

Today, breakthrough alternative star ratbag returns with her new single ‘never put a ring on a lady’, a bruised and biting queer heartbreak anthem that ushers fans into the next chapter of her fantastical universe.
Written in the throes of ratbag’s first queer situationship,’never put a ring on a lady’ captures the kind of heartbreak that leaves you wanting to warn everyone off love. Raw, wounded and characteristically sharp, the track sees ratbag turn romantic devastation into something both darkly funny and painfully sincere.
Speaking on the new single, ratbag shares: “‘never put a ring on a lady’ poured out of me in a single day during my first experience in a queer situationship. It’s about getting so badly hurt by love that you guide everyone, and yourself, far away from it… I love women but my god, they sure know how to break a heart.”
Having spent much of 2026 based in London, ratbag continues to build genuine momentum — delivering a standout set at The Great Escape earlier this year before playing her first London headline show at The George Tavern, all while her surreal performance art across the city has brought the ratbag universe vividly into the real world.
ratbag will also be joining London fans on release day at a pop-up event at Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes in Shoreditch. There she will be hanging out with fans as she draws them, celebrating the latest single and her time in London.

Nine-time GRAMMY® Award winner and 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Sheryl Crow has released “Freight Train,” the second track from her forthcoming 12th studio album, Pick You Up, due out October 9, 2026, via Old Green Barn Productions LLC. “Freight Train” is a slow-paced, reflective track underscored by soft guitar that explores the universal experience of feeling alone. “So many times in my life I have felt alone, even when surrounded by people. I think we all feel that way sometimes,” Crow said. “This song is about the knowingness that we are not alone in feeling that way and that it will pass.”
The song considers the shared questions and uncertainties that connect us all, reflecting on how life is happening everywhere at once, in every house, every car, and across every stretch of countryside. Much like the sound of a freight train moving in the distance, the song offers a reminder that we are all moving through our own lives while experiencing many of the same feelings, and that we are never truly alone.
“Freight Train” follows “Freedom Bus” featuring Jesse Welles, the first single from Pick You Up, which was released alongside the album’s announcement in August. “Freedom Bus” introduced the forthcoming album reflecting on the freedoms we have and asking how we can connect peacefully and thrive despite our differences and the political challenges we face.
Pick You Up features seven new songs written by Crow and long-time collaborator Jeff Trott, returning to the AAA/Rock/Singer-Songwriter/Americana sound that made so many people fall in love with Sheryl in the ‘90s. The band chose the song not only because it transports them (and listeners) to another time and place but because it remains incredibly current 42 years on from its initial release. The Rasmus truly put their stamp on it — remaining faithful to the spirit of the original in the verses, but turning up the fury and the guitar energy, giving it a fresh and unexpected punk rock twist, picking up the pace and adding more grit and energy to the iconic song. The track takes on a static-charged edge as the band puts its own punchy spin on the familiar melody, making it feel faster, louder, and further alive. It’s a fun take on a classic that feels right at home in The Rasmus’ world.
“This song ‘Forever Young’ originally performed by German artist Alphaville is kind of like a soundtrack of our youth,” says Ylönen. “Covering this song feels nostalgic but lyrically also quite relevant considering what’s happening in the world right now.” Facts are facts.
The band has also just embarked on its first-ever headline tour of North America, which kicked off on September 6 in Chicago and runs through October 12 in Los Angeles. Saint Agnes and Death Valley Dreams are serving as support. “It feels surreal that after all these years, we finally get to play our first ever headline tour in the U.S.,” enthused Ylönen at the time the tour was announced. “We have super devoted fans who some have been waiting over 20 years to see us live. These shows will be loaded with emotion and fierce energy.”

VALHALORE Unleash Epic New Video for ‘The Storm (Live)’
Following the recent release of their stirring acoustic version of “Horizon” (listen/watch here), Australian symphonic folk metal torchbearers VALHALORE have unleashed an epic new live video for ‘The Storm,’ a track taken from the band’s latest studio album, Beyond The Stars. Capturing the power and energy of VALHALORE on stage, ‘The Storm (Live)’ brings one of the record’s most intense songs to life in a striking live setting.
Composer Anthony Willis writes, “We are stoked to finally share this powerful live version of ‘The Storm’, captured on our Australian headline tour last year! This is the first live recording we’ve released as a digital single, and we think the atmosphere, rawness and intensity of this live performance takes the song beyond the original. Originally released in April 2025 via ROAR – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music, Beyond The Stars marked the long-awaited second full-length chapter in VALHALORE’s journey. Blending melodic death, power and symphonic metal with the band’s distinctive folk influences, the album combines crushing heaviness and sweeping melodies with atmospheric passages, further enriched by instruments including flute, cello and mandolin.
Upon its release, Beyond The Stars was met with an enthusiastic response from the international metal press. METAL ON TAP awarded the album a perfect 10/10, calling it “metal at its absolute finest, and a serious contender for Album of the Year.” Australia’s METAL ROOS praised it as “a perfect fusion of the modern metal with the traditional” and concluded with an emphatic “Highly recommended!” Germany’s METAL HAMMER, meanwhile, highlighted the interplay between growls and clean vocals on songs such as “The Storm” and “Horizon,” noting that it gives the tracks “a certain grandeur”.
