MELBOURNE INDIE-POP ARTIST GYPSY LEE PREVIEWS NEW CHAPTER WITH ‘SNITCHES’

With a captivating presence and a warm, natural confidence brought to both lyrics and vocal performance, breakthrough indie-pop artist GYPSY LEE is setting herself up for a vibrant new arc with the debut of her latest track, ‘SNITCHES’.

As a preview of her forthcoming EP project, the new single from the Melbourne-based artist is an engaging stride forward. A beautiful blend of songwriting skill and charisma, GYPSY LEE leaves the listener with no choice but to be drawn in.

Written with collaborator and producer THRONES (Andrew Lowden), ‘Snitches’ was created following a breakup that GYPSY LEE describes as her “first heartbreak”. The song is produced without any instruments, it’s entirely GYPSY’s vocals and percussive elements such as hands claps and door slams.

“I was less upset by the loss of the person, more the actions that ended the relationship. There’s an anthemic quality to the song – not just for me, but perhaps for women everywhere – a call out of the bullshit some boys put them through. I’m not a blow up doll, a barbie or your property. I am completely myself and I’m not afraid to call you out – or snitch.” GYPSY LEE

Accompanying the release of ‘Snitches’, GYPSY LEE has released the song’s official visuals, directed by Glen Wilk the video captures the fun of ‘Snitches’, while also elevating the artist’s own unique vibe and approach to pop music that at all times, is led with heart.

“I wanted a video that captured everything I am, everything I’m not and what I could be. I can be fun, I can be messy, I can be ugly, I can be your dream girl. What I won’t be, however, is silent.” GYPSY LEE

Since making her debut in 2024 with the PRETTY IN THE DARK EP, audiences have been able to witness GYPSY LEE evolve from buzz artist, to becoming a dynamic breath of fresh air and certainly, one to watch.

Having already enjoyed sold out shows at venues including The Espy in Melbourne and Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory,  GYPSY LEE has been enjoying the challenge of stepping out of the studio and bringing her songs to the stage.

With the release of more new music in 2026, GYSPY LEE is a name Australian music fans will become more and more familiar with.

NATALIE GAUCI WAKES TO A ‘BRAND NEW DAY’ (Out Friday 27th March)

Multi-award-winning Australian singer-songwriter Natalie Gauci will release the title track of her critically acclaimed album, ‘Brand New Day’ as her next single on Friday 27th March, 2026.

With ‘Brand New Day,’ Gauci casts a small ray of hope at the end of a long dark tunnel marked by trials and relationship trust issues.

Natalie explains: “The message in this song has many layers. I would love to leave some of this message up to the listener for their own interpretation. As I really want this to be a positive message. A message to be strong, to experience a brand-new day, every day taking little steps to build a positive life, and grow in ways we never knew we could”

Yet, for Gauci, this track transcends mere symbolism. It serves as a revelation, a late-stage reflection on her journey, culminating in a profound realisation about making better choices.

‘Brand New Day’ radiates hope, signalling her awareness of new opportunities and fresh beginnings – a chance for a new start.

Natalie comments: “This song is one of my more country soul style songs, which I wrote on guitar with Ash Naylor (The Church) – who then performed a beautiful lush interpretation. We decided to take it into Damien Gerard Studios in Gosford NSW Australia.

“There I had the opportunity to work with Evan Manell (drums) and producer Andrew Beck (Paul Kelly, The Church, Mental As Anything, Kate Miller-Heidke) where “Brand New Day” became a finished recording exactly how I had imagined it to sound, but even better!”

Natalie will soon announce some intimate live tour dates to support the release.

Spanning music from across his entire career, the shows will dive deep into his catalogue, bringing early releases and fan-favourite cuts back to life on stage.

“This tour represents over 15 years of dedication and effort,” says Sparks. “It’s about highlighting the music that often gets overlooked. Even though some of it will be older catalogue, it’s actually the foundation of the sound people know me for today.”

In a first for the artist, these performances will be entirely dedicated to his classic records. “This is my first-ever tour dedicated exclusively to classics, offering a completely unique sonic experience,” he explains. “Many of these tracks have never been included in my sets before.”

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Ben Kweller is making his long-awaited return to Australia in 2026. A pillar of the underground indie scene, Kweller will be performing much-loved songs from his discography, as well as tracks from his profoundly moving 2023 release Cover the Mirrors.

This will be the first time in 14 years Aussie fans will have the chance to experience Kweller’s tapestry of songs in live form, set to play gems from albums like Sha Sha (2002), On My Way (2004), Changing Horses (2009) and Go Fly A Kite (2012).

SIGN UP FOR PRESALE

Kweller will also perform songs from his achingly raw 2023 record Cover The Mirrors, one of his most emotionally-charged albums to date with Flood Magazine calling it “touching and profound”. Written after the unimaginable loss of his 16-year old son Dorian, who passed away in a freak car accident, the 12-track album explores themes of grief and soul-searching and features guest performances by longtime friends and collaborators including Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, The Flaming Lips and Jason Schwartzman’s highly acclaimed mid-aughts musical project Coconut Records.

Gracing the stage in Sydney at the Oxford Art Factory and the Corner Hotel in Melbourne, Kweller will also perform to audiences at Brisbane’s Open Season.

Raised outside of Dallas, Texas, Ben Kweller first landed on the scene in the late-90s with his grunge band Radish. Cementing himself as one of the defining voices of early-2000s rock with his solo debut release Sha Sha, he further solidified his reputation as a gifted writer on albums On My Way (2004) and Changing Horses (2009)  before earning a GRAMMY® nomination for 2012 release Go Fly A Kite.

Bringing his sincerity and songcraft to stages across the globe, Kweller has gone on to tour with world-class acts including Bright Eyes, Kings of Leon, Death Cab for Cutie, Bleachers, John Mayer, My Morning Jacket, The Strokes, and Ed Sheeran. MEGA FÄUNA RELEASE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM SOFTMORE

Masters of creating lush and intimate indie soundscapes, MEGA FÄUNA expand on dreamy notions of life’s myriad experiences across their debut album, softmore. The album, drawing together a meticulously crafted collection of influences, stories and emotional threads, arrives as a beautiful statement of intent from one of the East Coast’s most exciting and dynamic outfits.

For MEGA FÄUNA, the journey to get to this point starts back with their debut in 2020. Created against a social climate that was riddled with uncertainties and a sense of restlessness, MEGA FÄUNA became not only a new avenue for creative expression for these five musicians, but a personal salve during this time. The band, comprising members of outfits THE BUOYS, SWEETIE, WILES SKELETEN, and BABY BEEF features striking personalities and talents that have come together here in building a strong sonic foundation.

Across softmore, the listener is able to immerse themselves in these moments of charismatic indie Australiana. From the jangle-laden vibrancy of lead single ‘heartbeat’ and driving pace of ‘bb there’, this is an album primed to get lost in.

A song like ‘make believe’ hypnotises, as the lyrics navigate the complexity of a relationship “with someone who takes you for granted. Where you have lost yourself in someone else. Almost in idolisation and adoration, and feeling that they only value you when you are something to lose, or when they need something…”

It’s this intimate space that MEGA FÄUNA are at ease creating from. Guitars blend beautifully with synths and rhythms to offer moments of nostalgia and hazy romanticism, but in the vocals, the listener can find a striking anchor that holds steady throughout the whole journey. The group explores the natural passage of time (‘new skin’) and life’s unique catalyst moments (‘unheld’, ‘windows down’) in a way that remains accessible, yet incredibly personal.

“This collection of songs are musings on femininity. The softness, the secondness, the strength and the compelling force of it. Reckoning with how it binds us and liberates us.”

They are wanderings in the dark of night, drenched in question and rinsed in exaltation. They are a dance with a stranger and a song to oneself, a spell on a forgone lover and the ecdysis that follows on. They are for us and soon they will be for you too. You can imagine them with us, as tight knit tourniquets for your dreams.” MEGA FÄUNA

Making their debut in 2020 with the song ‘Jacaranda’, MEGA FÄUNA developed a strong community following quickly as ensuing music releases cemented their status as ones to watch. A string of singles that would lead to the Fibonacci Sequins EP demonstrated their natural knack for intimate songwriting and storytelling while musically, the band presents charisma and a heartfelt bond with ease.

Notable performances have included SXSW Sydney and the King Street Crawl, as well as support for the likes of RVG, Otoboke Beaver, Body Type, Los Bitchos and more. To date, MEGA FÄUNA’s music has received healthy support via rotation adds on community radio, as well as a growing community on streaming services, attracting over 140,000 streams on Spotify alone.

The band will officially usher in the softmore era with a Sydney album launch on April 24 at the brand-new Heaps Normal venue in Marrickville.

COURTNEY BARNETT  UNVEILS NEW SINGLE “ONE THING AT A TIME”

WATCH THE VIDEO NOW

FOURTH STUDIO ALBUM CREATURE OF HABIT OUT MARCH 27

GRAMMY-nominated Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett has released her new single “One Thing at a Time,” via Fiction  Records. The single, accompanied by a music video directed by Lance Bangs, will serve as the focus track for Barnett’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, Creature of Habit, out March 27.

“One Thing At A Time,” is a standout track off Creature of Habit, neatly encapsulating the thesis of the entire album. For two minutes, Barnett’s internal frustrations are set against a stomping rhythm section (featuring Flea on bass) before a mid-song reckoning. The final lyric of the song “I’m ready for a change” hangs in the air, releasing us from our inner demons as Barnett celebrates with a euphoric three-minute guitar solo.

Creature of Habit is a bold, emotionally resonant record that explores the central question: how to get out of your own way so you can truly feel your life. Written in the wake of a relocation from Australia to Los Angeles and the closure of her long-running label Milk! Records, Barnett was grappling with changes that put the future of both her life and career in question. Rather than internalizing those feelings, she decided to bring all this swirling confusion directly into the recording process. With previous singles “Stay in Your Lane,” “Site Unseen (feat. Waxahatchee),” “Mantis,” and “Sugar Plum” setting the tone, the album marks a decisive new chapter in Courtney Barnett’s musical evolution.

TAJ MAHAL ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM ‘TIME’ RELEASED MAY 1 VIA RESONATIN’ RECORDS/THIRTY TIGERS

Legendary singer, songwriter Taj Mahal has announced the release of his new album Time on May 1 via Resonatin’ Records/Thirty Tigers — a masterclass in soul, roots, folk, reggae and blues from one of the cornerstone architects of American music. Pre-order HERE.

A deeply soulful and expansive collection, Time the album’s title track is a never-before-heard Bill Withers composition, originally recorded only as an unreleased demo and nearly lost to history. Close friend, music industry executive, and Producer, Steve Berkowitz, with the blessing of both Bill and Marcia Withers, brought the song to Taj and the band. Listen to the song HERE & watch visualizer HERE.

On Bill Withers and the origin of the song, Taj stated, “My former wife went to school with Bill Withers’ wife, so they knew each other, and I got a chance to spend some time around him. I had a lot of respect for the brother because of what he brought to music. Bill could walk out with an acoustic guitar and sing something like ‘Grandma’s Hands,’ and it would resonate so deeply with people. He wasn’t jumping up and down or trying to be flashy — he just had his own time and his own way of doing things. That honesty in his music meant a lot. So when this song came along, I listened to it a couple of times and felt that movement and that message in it. And we were grateful to receive his blessing to record it.”

Tony Braunagel added, “During the recording process of the forthcoming album Time, producers and members of the Phantom Blues Band, myself and Larry Fulcher, engaged longtime friend Steve Berkowitz as an advisor to help navigate record company connections for the release. Steve, a deeply creative and seasoned executive who previously ran Sony Legacy, had an inspired idea. While working with Bill Withers, when he was still with us, they had come across one of Bill’s unrecorded demos titled “Time.” It dawned on Steve that the song would be a perfect fit for Taj. With the album still in progress, he shared it, and it was immediately embraced. The lead vocal is earnest and heartfelt, capturing the depth and weight at the core of the Bill Withers original. Once the finishing touches were added and the track was mixed, it secured a permanent place on the album. The song conveys a shared human experience, Withers’ vision now honored and celebrated through Taj and his gifted collaborators, ready to be heard and embraced.”

Speaking exclusively to Variety, who reported, “Mahal only met Withers on a couple of occasions — their wives had gone to Claremont College together, which offered a bit of a connection — and he came away from those even more of an admirer,” and on his career added, “nothing could beat the twin ways in which the Recording Academy acknowledged him in 2025, when he won both a lifetime achievement Grammy and an actual competitive Grammy (for best traditional blues album for a record he made with Keb Mo), showing that it is possible to get your seemingly career-capping flowers and still be acknowledged as active and currently creative at the same time.”

On the importance of Bill Withers to Taj, he stated to Variety, “When we did get to talk with one another, it was like we could see each other across the universe, and we just pulled all that distance out of the way. He was real folks. And I’ve always admired his work, his concerts, the musicians that he played with, his ideas. All you have to do is hear one note and you already know who you’re listening to, you know? … Once he walked away from the business, that’s when I met him the second time. I think he was in New York, putting up some shelves for his daughter at college, and he was just Bill Withers in overalls.” Read more at Variety HERE.

Elsewhere, Time features the Bob Marley classic “Talkin’ Blues” with guest vocals from David “Ziggy” Marley, alongside highlights including the breezy swing of “Wild About My Lovin’” and an Afro-Cuban–infused “You Put The Whammy On Me.” Across the album, Taj’s unmistakable voice remains as resonant and communicative as ever, bridging blues, R&B, jazz, Caribbean traditions along with global and roots music.

Originally recorded in 2010 alongside Taj’s longtime collaborators the Phantom Blues Band — a three-decade partnership responsible for GRAMMY-winning albums Señor Blues(1997) and Shoutin’ in Key (2000) — Time captures a shared musical language refined across decades. The sessions featured Tony Braunagel (drums), Larry Fulcher (bass) and Johnny Lee Schell (guitar), who also produced the album alongside Berkowitz. Additional musicians include New Orleans piano great Jon Cleary and organist Mick Weaver. The album was recorded at Ultratone Studio in Studio City, CA, with its rich blend of reggae rhythms, New Orleans grooves, country blues and Latin influences reflecting the band’s signature chemistry.

Few artists have shaped American roots music as profoundly as Taj Mahal. A recipient of the 2025 GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award, Taj is a genre-defying musician, composer and cultural ambassador whose six-decade career spans more than 40 albums, multiple GRAMMY wins and global acclaim. Since launching his groundbreaking solo career in the late 1960s, Taj has continually expanded the boundaries of blues while illuminating its deep cultural connections across continents, influencing generations of artists from The Rolling Stones to Bonnie Raitt.

From back-to-back GRAMMY wins for Señor Blues and Shoutin’ in Key to his Best Traditional Blues Album victory for 2022’s Get On Board, his celebrated reunion with longtime collaborator Ry Cooder, alongside recent acclaimed projects including Savoy and the GRAMMY-winning Swingin’ Live At The Church In Tulsa, Taj remains both torchbearer and innovator.

Reflecting both the years it took to bring the record to life and the moment we find ourselves in now, Time moves fluidly through the musical worlds Taj Mahal has always inhabited — but enriching them for a new generation along the way.

As Ruthie Foster writes in her liner notes for Taj’s album: “turn it up — this is deep-groove, grown-folks music from a band that still plays like the night is young.”

JOHN CAMERON MITCHELL ANNOUNCES RETURN TO AUSTRALIA

I’M AFRAID OF AMERICANS – A Bowie Song Cycle Tour

With special guests: Jude York, Amber Martin and Meow Meow (Sydney only)

Two-time Tony Award-winning star John Cameron Mitchell is returning to Australia this September with a thrilling new theatrical concert celebrating the music, poetry and enduring spirit of David Bowie in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as an appearance at Sydney’s Festival of Dangerous Ideas in August with a further special event appearance to be announced in the coming weeks.

I’M AFRAID OF AMERICANS – A Bowie Song Cycle is a wildly original evening conceived and performed by the creator and star of the cult musical phenomenon Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Blending Bowie’s most provocative, paranoid and visionary songs with personal stories and razor-sharp wit, Mitchell constructs an electrifying theatrical journey through the mind of one of the greatest artists of the modern era.

I’M AFRAID OF AMERICANS – A Bowie Song Cycle will play at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Sunday, 6 September and the Melbourne Recital Centre on Wednesday, 9 September.

Joined by an extraordinary ensemble of performers including Australian rising star Jude York, powerhouse vocalist Amber Martin (Scissor Sisters) and international cabaret icon Meow Meow (Sydney only), Mitchell will lead I’M AFRAID OF AMERICANS’ audiences through a curated song cycle of Bowie classics and deep cuts — from Station to Station, Queen Bitch, and Sweet Thing to Hallo Spaceboy, Fame, Quicksand, and Rock ’n’ Roll Suicide. The evening is both a celebration and a meditation: Bowie’s dark prophecies of chaos and alienation balanced with his timeless hymns of hope and reinvention.

The production features musical direction by Matthew Katz-Bohen (Blondie), costumes by acclaimed designer Erik Bergrin, and lighting design by Jojo Franjoine, creating a visually stunning concert experience that fuses theatre, rock performance and cabaret.

Mitchell shares a personal connection with Bowie, who was an early champion of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Bowie even became an investor in the groundbreaking musical — a gesture Mitchell remembers fondly as both generous and delightfully reckless. Through songs and stories, I’M AFRAID OF AMERICANS explores Bowie’s artistic legacy and the profound influence he continues to exert on culture, identity and resistance.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the show, Mitchell says “When fascism popped its head back out of the spider hole after our 2024 election, I was reminded of Gary Oldman’s quote: ‘It all went to shit when David Bowie died. It was like he was some cosmic glue holding it all together’.

“So I binge-listened to Bowie’s most paranoid and apocalyptic songs and found myself strangely comforted. I constructed a song cycle of those songs — some hits, some deep cuts — and balanced them with his ballads of hard-won hope and stories of my meeting the man himself. With my longtime producers David M. Hawkins and Tommy Kriegsmann, a brilliant band led by Matthew Katz-Bohen, and backed by legendary vocal powerhouse Amber Martin alongside special Aussie guests like Jude York and Meow Meow, we are coming Down Under to remind ourselves that, under pressure from hate, we can be heroes … if just for one night.”

Timed to coincide with the tenth anniversary of David Bowie leaving the planet, this extraordinary concert event honours Bowie’s fearless imagination, boundary-breaking artistry and unforgettable catalogue.

Part rock concert, part cabaret, part theatrical love letter, I’M AFRAID OF AMERICANS – A Bowie Song Cycle is a night of music, storytelling and electrifying performance celebrating the genius of a true cultural icon and is expected to sell fast!

Click here for photos and bio information.

Venue, artist, ticket outlet and DMH Entertainment database members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale from 2.00pm today, Wednesday 25 March, until 11.59pm on Thursday, 26 March (local times).

General Public tickets for I’M AFRAID OF AMERICANS – A Bowie Song Cycle go on sale at 11.00am AEDT on Friday, 27 March.  Go to DMH Entertainment for further details and database registration.

The Festival of Dangerous Ideas (FODI) will be exclusively presenting JUST BE PUNK with John Cameron Mitchell.

In this ferocious, funny and unfiltered masterclass, Mitchell will invite you to ditch the performance of rebellion and step into the real thing. A call for a new generation, and those that may have forgotten, to “stop playing it safe”, he sees punk as action: messy, collective and defiantly alive.

Punk isn’t (just) a look. It’s a refusal. A choice: community over clout, risk over reputation, noise over silence. It demands you to show up, speak out and sometimes get it wrong. Because change doesn’t happen quietly, and it never happens alone.

Expect to shut up and listen, and then participate in the conversation without fear of cancellation.

SANGUISUGABOGG June Tour For US Gore Merchants feat. Special Guests, PEELINGFLESH

Shat out of hell? Indeed. The epically unpronounceable, utterly indecipherable and altogether uncompromising gore merchants, Sanguisugabogg, are returning to Australia in June 2026 with special guests PeelingFlesh. And fans simply cannot get enough. Even with a venue update. Perth has just sold out! Melbourne’s huge 170 Russell – sold out! Adelaide, literally down to the last handful..

All other shows are dangerously close to being sold out too so those tyre kickers who have yet to get a move on, better do so quick cause once the tickets are gone, they are gone!

Having left Australian crowds in bloody heaps on their debut tour in 2024 via their now infamous tradition of playing ‘murderball’, where a football is thrown into the heaving pit with the promise of some free merch for the one maniac who is still standing and holding the ball at the end of the next song, Sanguisugabogg are ready to up the ante this time with their good, friendly, violent fun!

The sonic stench that permeates their latest release, Hideous Aftermath, has become the benchmark for modern death metal. With the torch being passed to them from their heroes in Cannibal Corpse, Mortician and Suffocation, the ’Bogg deliver queasiness-inducing tracks such as Necrosexual Deviant, Face Ripped Off, Skin Cushion and Dragged By A Truck, all of which test the limits of the human body with gurgling abyssal lows and bowel rattling heaviness.

No longer that band of meme-inspiring miscreants, their blasts of sludgy riffing and tongue-severed-from-cheek, gross-out humour are backed up by their devastating musicianship. Sharper, meaner and more lethal than ever, their grotesque gore-obsessed, psycho-sexual, body-horror artistry may seem perverse or fetishistic to some but to the ‘Bogg, it’s perfectly normal.

Adding to the carnage are Oklahoma’s PeelingFlesh, the slamming, gangster-groove juggernaut making their long awaited debut on Aussie soil.

Prepare for nothing less than total sonic dismemberment, a night of horror-drenched depravity and refined carnage that hits like a sledgehammer to the sternum. Together, this bill is a demented double dose of pure, unfiltered brutality.

STEPHEN CUMMINGS RELEASES NEW VIDEO AND ANNOUNCES A RARE MELBOURNE SHOW TO LAUNCH NEW EP JOY, WITH SPECIAL GUEST LEAH SENIOR

Cheersquad Records & Tapes are proud to present a rare live performance from the truly iconic Melbourne singer and songwriter Stephen Cummings with his band.

Stephen returns to George Lane in St Kilda for one Melbourne show only to celebrate the release of his new EP Joy which features profoundly moving reinterpretations of four of his favourite Australian songs: “Living in the Balance” (originally by Dag, 2021), “Unfamiliar Ground” (Jess Ribeiro, 2015), “No Word from China” (Pel Mel, 1980) and “Fly Without Its Wings” (Mike Rudd’s Spectrum, 1971).

The announcement coincides with the release of a beautiful new video for “Living in the Balance” which was made by Mark Bakaitis and shot primarily in and around the massive Heavenly Queen Temple. The largest Taoist temple in Australia, the temple was built in honour of the Goddess of the Sea, Mazu, and is situated by the Maribyrnong River in Footscray in Melbourne’s inner west.

With a full band comprising bandmates old and new – Sam Lemann, Robert Goodge (Essendon Airport, I’m Talking), Maxine Sutcliffe, Michael Davis, Graham Lee (Triffids, Paul Kelly, Essendon Airport) and Leah and Andi Senior – Stephen will launch the EP with a matinee live show that includes the four songs that make up the EP together with selections from his beloved 1989 album Lovetown and other favorites.

Leah Senior, who has been described by US site Raven Sings the Blues as a singer/songwriter who, “more than many of her peers, truly embraces the spiraling introspection of Mitchell, King, Sill, and Crosby” will open the show with a set of her own before joining Stephen on stage.

An ARIA Award-winning artist, Stephen Cummings has enjoyed a long, creative and distinguished career since fronting The Sports in the late ’70s and ’80s.

This will be his first full-band Melbourne performance since 2023, promising an inspiring and emotional afternoon of unforgettable music. With George Lane located being in the same building as the legendary Crystal Ballroom, which Stephen played with The Sports back in 1979, there will also no doubt be plenty of reminiscing.

Stephen Cummings – Living in the Balance STEPHEN CUMMINGS JOY EP
Cheersquad Records & Tapes is proud to announce the release of Joy, a brand new 4–track EP from Stephen Cummings, on vinyl and digital formats.

Joy revisits songs originally recorded at various times between 1971 and 2021 by four iconic Australian acts — Spectrum, Pel Mel, Jess Ribeiro and Dag — but here they are reborn through Cummings’ interpretations, newly recorded in 2025.

Produced by longtime collaborator Robert Goodge, these versions carry Stephen’s unmistakable voice and presence, enriched by an extraordinary ensemble:
•    Stephen Cummings — vocals
•    Leah & Andi Senior — harmony vocals
•    Robert Goodge — acoustic guitar, mandolin, keyboards
•    Sam Lemann — acoustic & electric guitars
•    Graham Lee — pedal steel
•    Bill McDonald — bass, keyboard sounds
•    Michael Davis — drums & percussion

The EP’s four tracks span five decades of Australian songwriting:
1.    Living in the Balance (Dusty Anastassiou, 2021 – originally by Dag)
2.    Unfamiliar Ground (Jess Ribeiro, 2015)
3.    No Word from China (Jude McGee & Graeme Dunne, 1980 – originally by Pel Mel)
4.    Fly Without Its Wings (Mike Rudd, 1971 – originally by Spectrum)

The result is a record that bridges generations of Australian music with fresh intimacy and resonance. The dreamy harmonies of sisters Leah and Andi Senior add an ethereal texture that lifts Cummings’ interpretations into luminous new territory. Joy is both a tribute and a reinvention, breathing new life into remarkable songs and carrying them forward in Stephen Cummings’ deeply personal style.

CHOP SUEY + SLIP-NOT + THE VIOLENT INZIDENT Celebrate 25 Years Of TOXICITY & IOWA This May

How do you know when a tribute act can cut the grade? Whether musically, they can even match the intensity and musicality of the bands they are paying homage to?

Well, you can’t really until you have seen them live, but when you factor in that the tribute act features members of bands such as DRAGONFORCE / ANTI-NOWHERE LEAGUE / SINSAENUM / TIGERTAILZ then you at least know the pedigree is there.

The UK’s #1 tribute to SYSTEM OF A DOWN , CHOP SUEY, have been mesmerising audiences all over the world, travelling from France to Romania, Croatia to Germany and everything in between and selling out venues everywhere. Their live show is unrivalled in the tribute world, with every performance paying respect not only to SOAD but also their own musical personas, ensuring an experience as close to the real thing as possible.

And with KNOTFEST not returning to Australia until 2027, Slip-NOT have cleared a 10-day window in their schedules to head Down Under to fill the void!

The newer of the two star-studded tribute acts, Slip-NOT also refuse to play baby brother, and have quickly established themselves as a class act in their own right.

Refusing to be Left Behind, Slip-NOT are Surfacing from the Disasterpiece that this world is becoming, embracing the Duality and Psychosocial elements of society, declaring All Hope Is Gone and vowing to Killpop at every turn.

Rounding out the trifecta is THE VIOLENT INZIDENT, one of the most entertaining and fun bands you have never seen.

Focussing on (and destroying) nu metal in its purest form, THE VIOLENT INZIDENT promise to make you take everything you know about bands like LIMP BIZKIT and KORN and churn it through the blender of life to create something insanely different but infinitely better.

CHOP SUEY are returning after a successful tour in 2020 that spawned at least a dozen love children, while Slip-NOT and THE VIOLENT INZIDENT are making their debut appearances.

And what would an Australian tour be without an Aussie band opening each night? Bloody criminal, that’s what!

So, please welcome Brisbane’s rising metal outfit ENGRAVED, who will be warming the crowds up every night with their high energy brand of nu-metal infused chaos.

Brisbane saves its best for winter and the soundtrack to winter 2026 has finally arrived. From 25 May to 25 July, Open Season returns for its sixth edition, bringing together over 100 artists and special events across 10+ venues – spanning theatres, clubs, galleries and public spaces – transforming the river city into a city of sound.

Produced by The Tivoli Group, Open Season has taken root as Brisbane’s defining winter cultural program, championing local, national and international artists and a bold expression of the city’s independent creative spirit. Unapologetically ambitious, the 2026 edition embraces unexpected venues and cross-disciplinary collaborations, creating experiences that are immersive, surprising and gritty.

Open Season is a true grass roots success story.  Since its inception in 2020 in the wake of the pandemic, the program has grown from a one-venue, 4-week event to an annual city-wide takeover that sets Brisbane alight each winter. Now spanning eight weeks, Open Season 2026 will activate The Tivoli, The Princess Theatre, QPAC’s new Glasshouse Theatre, South Brisbane’s Fish Lane, the entire Clarence Corner Precinct in Woolloongabba, the historic St Andrew’s Church, Quivr in Winn Lane, and various public spaces across the city.

Creative Director Dave Sleswick describes this year’s program as Open Season at its most expansive yet “Open Season has always been about building something from the ground up, a program that belongs to the city and the people who live here. In 2026 we’re expanding further than ever: more venues, more artists, more unexpected spaces. It’s rough around the edges, full of bite and big ideas, and driven by people who genuinely care about making Brisbane a more interesting and culturally rich place to call home.”

QPAC Chief Executive Rachel Healy welcomed the return of the Open Season partnership as an opportunity to bring together two very different but complementary arts organisations to present acclaimed international musicians to Brisbane audiences.

“Last year’s Open Season collaboration was a such a roaring success with 35 percent of audiences for the series coming to QPAC for the very first time,” Ms Healy said.

“We’re excited that our Glasshouse is now open and ready to be a part of this year’s Open Season with in-demand international acts such as Mogwai and Sparks on our newest stage, adding to Brisbane’s reputation as a contemporary music destination.”

The 2026 lineup unites international icons, legendary pioneers, emerging voices and local innovators in a cross-genre collision of punk, indie, electronic, jazz, hip-hop, psych and beyond.

A 2026 program highlight is the world premiere, Gil Scott-Heron by Brian Jackson & Yasiin Bey. See jazz and soul luminary Brian Jackson join forces with hip hop legend Yasiin Bey to perform music that transformed a cultural landscape. Together, they celebrate the revolutionary artistry of Gil Scott-Heron, whose voice and vision continue to inspire generations. ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised’, but it will come to life at The Tivoli this May.

His legacy sits alongside the poetic conviction of rappers Earl Sweatshirt and MIKE, who together bring sharp, introspective lyricism to the stage for a night of unmissable hip-hop and showmanship.

Heartthrob Saint Levant brings his trilingual love songs to The Princess Theatre. Pulling from a range of cultural background and musical influences, the artist creates a distinct blend of R&B that is having audiences rushing to buy tickets across the globe.

The sonic weight of Mogwai (celebrating 30 years), Deafheaven, Nothing and Spy expands into immersive, heavy and transcendent territory, while electronic music pulses through sets from Skin on Skin, Alison Wonderland, RONA, Ben Gerrans, Bradley Zero, dameeeeela and C.Frim.

London four-piece avant garde outfit Dry Cleaning delivers punchy spoken-word minimalism, while North Carolina indie-rockers Wednesday blur alt-country and slacker rock. USA’s Current Joys is the lo-fi, genre-bending solo-project of Nick Rattigan (Surf Curse). The Black Angels and Silversun Pickups channel shoegaze and psych rock with a nostalgic ’90s twist – all on long-awaited, highly anticipated visits to Australia.

Intimate performances come from Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon (with support from Hana Stretton), whose idiosyncratic melodies and hypnotic guitar work captivate; Kae Tempest, the British poet and musician whose bold spoken-word roots give each song striking narrative force; UK producer Clara La San, known for her dark, delicate vocals and introspective songwriting; The National’s legendary baritone frontman Matt Berninger, making his solo Australian debut; and indie-rock stalwart Ben Kweller, whose melodic hooks and heartfelt delivery round out the international program defined by humanity and powerful songwriting.

Following the cancellation of her On The Banks performances due to illness, Peach PRC is welcomed into the Open Season program, reaffirming her commitment to her Brisbane fans. Bringing her unapologetically bold hyper-pop world to the stage—where candy-coated hooks meet razor-sharp lyricism, and vulnerability collides with high-gloss theatrics.

Australian artists remain at the heart of Open Season with internationally lauded Melbourne act Hiatus Kaiyote returning to Brisbane as part of a special 15-year anniversary tour. Exclusive to Open Season is a rare, long-awaited performance by garage-punk legends Eddy Current Suppression Ring. Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Rum Jungle, Mulga Bore Hard Rock, Full Flower Moon Band, Shady Nasty, Beddy Rays, Hatchie and Jem Cassar-Daley are also set to perform across the jam-packed season.

In 2026, Open Season moves beyond stages into the city’s streets, galleries and unexpected spaces.

A keystone event of the program is Against The Grain Festival, celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Brisbane-based event promoters GRAIN. The event is a one-day, multi-venue block party with 30+ artists set to transform The Princess Theatre and the surrounding Clarence Corner precinct into a bustling hub of art and community. The sneak-preview, first-round announcement features Stereolab, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Hatchie, with the full program set to announce of April 1(no fools).

Blak Day Out, co-presented by Blak Social, is an annual celebration of Blak excellence and First Nations voices, stories and sound will feature Beddy Rays and Jem Cassar-Daley with many more artists to be announced.

After a stellar first edition in 2025, South System Vol. 2 is ready to roll back into Fish Lane at South Brisbane, taking the dance party to the back street with free performances from RONA. and many more. Speaking of free dancefloors; Quivr co-presents Centrefold, a celebration of women and GNC creatives and electronic artists including C.Frim, dameeeela, nikitasilly, Peachtings, Squidgenini and more.

Photographic exhibition Nowhere Fast will take over the Woolloongabba Art Gallery. Curated by John Willstead and Robert Forster, the exhibition features Paul O’Brian’s photographs of Brisbane’s punk and post-punk scene from 1978-1982. Interdisciplinary collaborations see Open Season extend beyond music, including Australasian Dance Collective’s dance piece Assembly Vol. 2 – Dull Boy, Kiosk Films’ dance/film event Cruisin’ For A Brusin’, and SKIN, a dance and live music double bill from Brisbane’s VOiiiD Collective and Bcharre بشرّي,. Together, these projects stretch Open Season into something porous, unpredictable and tactile, where music, dance, visual art and community collide.

More than a lineup, Open Season 2026 is an invitation to experience Brisbane through music and togetherness, to move between venues, genres, scenes and ideas, and be part of a city coming to life in real time.

What’s better?? There is still more to come. Stay tuned for the next round of artist and venue announcements on 10 April.

Open Season = Music for Brisbane!

JEANNIE LEWIS ‘LETTER TO THE VATICAN’ (SINGLE)

Jeannie, known for her exhilarating vocal range , dramatic presentation and distinctive interpretations delivers BLESSED UNREST,  an album of songs that will delight old fans and new listeners.

The album features tracks that have been part of her repertoire over the last 15 years.

Songs include a fresh take on her early gospel inspirations (“Eyes On The Prize”), folk gems from the likes of Malvina Reynolds and Bruce Cockburn and the biting satire of Ruben Blades and local legend Glen Cardier .

BLESSED UNREST is an album fifteen years in the making. Produced, arranged and recorded by long-time collaborator Jeremy Cook, it brings together a joyful collection of collaborations created between 2010 and 2025.

Drawing on Jeannie’s folk, blues, jazz and world-music roots, the album captures the richness of her life and artistry, weaving nostalgia, warmth and evocative storytelling through simple yet captivating choruses. A testament to enduring creative partnership, Blessed Unrest celebrates the spirit, depth and musical curiosity that define Jeannie’s work.

Letter To The Vatican
The album’s lead single, Letter(S) To The Vatican is a great story song from Lou Reed and Ruben Blades (Panamanian musician, singer, composer, actor, activist and politician). Rosie, old before her time, holed up in her local bar writes a wish list to the Pope. Jeannie and producer Jeremy Cook have steered it away from its rock inception to a joyous Tex Mex celebration of hope  or at least wishful thinking.

More About Jeannie Lewis

Jeannie Lewis’s career can no more easily be summarised than she can be contained as an artist. A multifaceted singer, recording artist, actor, writer, teacher and activist, she is a vital part of Australian music history, with a career spanning more than 50 years.

Blessed Unrest marks her eighth studio album, joining her award-winning debut Free Fall Through Featherless Flight and the acclaimed live recording Piaf: The Songs and the Story.

Lewis sings across borders, her artistry deeply shaped by her time in South America. She has performed with musicians including Ray Price, The Necks and John McLaughlin, and toured original shows at the State Theatre, Sydney Opera House and Adelaide Festival.

Her multidisciplinary production Tears of Steel and the Clowning Cavaleras opened the Seymour Centre’s York Theatre in 1975.

LOUIS TOMLINSON ANNOUNCES, ‘HOW DID WE GET HERE?’ 2026 AUSTRALIAN TOUR DATES!

Untitled Group is thrilled to confirm global-chart topping artist, Louis Tomlinson, will make his highly anticipated return to Australia this October as part of his ‘How Did We Get Here?’ 2026 World Tour.

His huge arena shows will kick off at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on Tuesday 20 October, before heading to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Thursday 22 October and closing out the Australian leg at the Entertainment Centre in Brisbane on Saturday 24 October.

Pre-sale tickets will be available from 9am (local time) on Monday 30 March until 8am (local time) Tuesday 31 March. General public on sale will be from 9am (local time) Tuesday 31 March. Visit https://www.untitledgroup.com.au/events-tours/louistomlinson for pre-sale sign up and further details.

News of the tour follows the recent release of Louis’s third full-length studio album How Did I Get Here? [released 23 January via BMG] which debut at #1 on the UK Album Charts and #3 on the ARIA Album Charts. During his press run for the album, Louis teased Australian fans during interviews of his impending visit stating excitedly, “As long as I’ve been touring, I’ve always come to Aus. It’s inevitable. I love it there. So yeah, I’ll definitely be there!” Now confirmed, the Australian dates round out a stacked 50 plus date world tour beginning this month in Europe, then hitting the UK, Canada, US followed by Australia.

For his third album How Did I Get Here? Louis pushed himself as a lyricist, songwriter, and performer, holding nothing back on these tracks. As a writer, he’s diving deeper into who he is than ever before. This time around, Louis assembled a handful of initial ideas in the English countryside before decamping to Santa Teresa in Costa Rica for three weeks in early 2025. He dove into writing and recording alongside primary collaborator and co-producer Nico Rebscher. The atmosphere of his surroundings underscored the ensuing body of work.

Following a world-conquering run as a member of One Direction, Louis formally introduced himself as a solo artist with Walls [2020]. Dubbed “excellent” by Rolling Stone, his debut LP moved over 1.2 million copies worldwide and reeled in nearly 1 billion total streams. Two years later, he levelled up on Faith In The Future [2022]. The album hit No.1 in the UK, Spain, Argentina, Belgium and cracked the Top 5 in Australia and on the US Billboard 200. This year How Did I Get Here? continued his global chart dominance.

Don’t miss your chance to witness Louis live in some of the biggest Australian venues he has played to date, this October.

THE BETA BAND AUSTRALIAN TOUR

DEATH IN VEGAS (DJ) Joins Tour

Experimental Scottish rock group The Beta Band have announced their long-awaited Australian debut – joined by very special guest

Death In Vegas (DJ set), led by Richard Fearless.

A pioneering force in UK electronic music, Death In Vegas has spent decades shaping the darker edges of club culture – from early residencies in London’s Soho through to collaborations and tours with acts like The Chemical Brothers and Nine Inch Nails. With a catalogue spanning cult classics The Contino Sessions and Scorpio Rising through to 2025’s Death Mask, their sound traverses techno, dub, psychedelia and ambient noise with a hypnotic, late-night intensity.

As a DJ, Richard Fearless is renowned for immersive, transportive sets – making this a rare chance to experience one of electronic music’s true underground icons in a live setting.

The Beta Band will perform their seminal 1998 release The Three E.P.’s , alongside fan favourites. Recently reuniting for sold out shows across the USA and UK, their return marks a rare chance to witness one of indie music’s most influential cult acts live.

Known for tracks like “Dry The Rain” and “Squares”, the band built a reputation for being truly uncategorizable – blending psychedelia, hip hop and ambient textures into a sound entirely their own. With fans including Oasis and Radiohead, their cult status was cemented by an iconic scene in High Fidelity.

DEVIL ELECTRIC Melbourne’s Premiere Vintage Rockers Next Single Takes You To

This Hereafter Their First Album in Five Years, Tahlia, Arrives March 27

Last month, Melbourne’s elite vintage rock act, Devil Electric came roaring back with Tahlia, the first single from their upcoming third studio album of the same name. It was their first music in half a decade and what a triumphant return it was.

With the impending release of Tahlia the album, dropping like a ten tonne heavy thing on Friday, March 27, the band have released their next slab of epic doom via the monstrous, This Hereafter.

A 9-minute riff-heavy marathon of tension and release through epic highs and crushing lows. This Hereafter, feels like pushing a boulder through desert sands before finally reaching an oasis. Lyrically the most vulnerable moment on the record, the raw emotion is unmistakable, with Pierina’s voice audibly breaking in the closing lines, leaving the listener with a fragile but undeniable glimmer of hope.

It’s a showcase of the bands immersive songwriting and is a pivotal moment over all within the album itself.

DEVIL ELECTRIC RETURN WITH TAHLIA: A HEAVY RECKONING FIVE YEARS IN THE MAKING
After five years, Devil Electric roar back with Tahlia, their third studio album and most emotionally charged release to date.

At its core, Tahlia is an album about fracture and survival, pain, frustration, and relationships breaking under pressure. Uncannily, its themes mirror the years that followed its recording, which only strengthen the emotive undertones of Tahlia. Delivered through soaring vocals, unforgettable hooks, and searing riffs.

The journey begins with the title track and first single, “Tahlia” a riff-driven return to the band’s classic sound. It charts a visceral descent from rock bottom to redemption. A tango between vintage doom metal and modern heavy rock. Tahlia is a homage to the Latin phrase “that which nourishes me, destroys me” told through a blend of energetic verses, chanting choruses, and moody riffs. All designed to leave the listener in an enigmatic state of mind. From there the band changes pace with “Jill and jack shit,” a swaggering, attitude-laden track that is cut full of spitting vocals and sharp edges, proudly tipping its hat to the grit and character of the band’s hometown, Melbourne.

“Weirdos” pushes the pace further, embracing a punchy, contemporary hard rock energy before diving into more experimental territory with “When We Talk About Nothing.” Inspired by Raymond Carver’s What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, the track strips things back and drags the listener into a heavier, more peeled back space that sets up the epic and hard-hitting “Acid Bath”.

“Acid Bath,” is an instrumental collaboration featuring Lex Waterreus of Seedy Jezus. A slow-burn descent into hazy unease, the track builds an immense wall of sound. The souring guitar solo and unhinged vocal loops by Lex will ensure this song is played on repeat, as it will tickle heavy rock, psychedelic and doom fans alike.

All paths lead to “This Hereafter,” the album’s final track; the longest and most epic doom offering by Devil Electric. Clocking in at nine minutes, it is a marathon of tension and release through epic highs and crushing lows that feel like pushing a boulder through desert sands before finally reaching an oasis. Lyrically the most vulnerable moment on the record, the raw emotion is unmistakable, with Pierina’s voice audibly breaking in the closing lines, leaving the listener with a fragile but undeniable glimmer of hope.

Balancing heavy rock and doom with a contemporary edge, Tahlia is an album that demands to be felt start to finish. Soaring, immersive, and deeply personal, it marks a powerful chapter for Devil Electric and one well worth the wait.

Devil Electric are for fans Of: Black Sabbath, Graveyard, Kadavar, The Dead Weather, Blues Pills, The Well, Electric Citizen…

STEVE LANE ‘LAST DRINKS’ (SINGLE)

From the new album ‘Where the Rivers Meet’ out now on Scottish Label ‘Last Night From Glasgow’ (LNFG)

Award-winning Central Victorian songwriter Steve Lane announces his latest single ‘Last Drinks’ with its indie/jangle pop/Strokes-imbued swagger, effortlessly produced by ARIA award-winning Darren Seltmann (The Avalanches). Just the right tonic to kick off the year!

John Holton, author and Steve’s co-lyricist writes:
“Last Drinks comes from a place of deep care and understanding.

At first listen, you could be forgiven for thinking it’s a song about drinking culture, but dig a little deeper and the lyrics are full of hope … a plea for all of us to live our full potential despite the expectations of others. To see the beauty in the world and our need to love … and be loved.

But Last Drinks, like so many of Lane’s lyrics, is also cleverly self-referential. Music about the power of music. A song to help ‘dilute, blur reality’ that can feel so overwhelming. A pick-me-up for our malady (or is that melody?) … a song to take us away.”

‘Last Drinks’ (along with other album songs) was mixed by ARIA award winning producer Darren Seltmann, who recently had two songs from his tenure in ground-breaking Australian group The Avalanches voted into the top 100 Australian Song of all time. The album was then artfully mastered by Grammy nominated Melbourne wizard Joe Carra.

More about Steve Lane: One of Australia’s most underrated contemporary songwriters, that’s not to say that the work of Steve Lane has gone unnoticed.

Across his previous four albums he’s received much critical acclaim from publications such as the SMH, Rolling Stone and Rhythms magazine. He’s been a 6X semi-finalist for the International Song-writing Award and his 2011 album The Romance of Communication, released through ABC Music/Universal, was nominated for the prestigious Australian Music Prize.

In 2022, he released The Great Imposter, his first album with Scottish Label Last Night From Glasgow (LNFG). The album reached #5 on the Scottish Albums Chart and #8 on the UK Vinyl Albums Chart.

His new album ‘Where The Rivers Meet’ (out now on LNFG) was recorded in Steve’s passive Solar ‘off grid studio in Central Victoria and mixed by ARIA award-winning Darren Seltmann (The Avalanches).

First two singles A Song You Can’t Write No More and Make the Trains Run On Time were both semi-finalists in 2024 and 2025 International Song writing Competitions.

Upcoming Shows:

Steve and his band ‘The Autocrats’ will celebrate the launch of single ‘Last Drinks’ at a free show in the newly remodelled and refurbished Brunswick Artist Bar.

WHISKEY JACK & KIERA JAS UNITE FOR NEW SINGLE ‘REMAIN STRANGE’

West Australian folk duo Whiskey Jack and Kiera Jas unite on their joyous and whimsy new single ‘Remain Strange’. An ode to the spark of new friendships and the courage to stay authentic, the track celebrates the beauty of embracing what makes each of us unique. ‘Remain Strange’ follows the duo’s 2025 collaborative single ‘Old Expressions’.

Together, Whiskey Jack and Kiera Jas create a harmonious fusion of rich storytelling and sweet melodies. Their undeniably magnetic connection – a friendship built on seeing and celebrating each other’s spark – lies at the heart of the song. “Remain Strange is past the gate of first impressions and beyond the subject of the weather,” says Jack, “It’s for the friends who take the leap with you – who notice something special and help reveal it.”

“Having supportive people in your circle is so important, and this song really shares that feeling of someone having your back when you need it,” follows Kiera. “I hope it makes people feel like calling their best friends to plan a silly adventure together!”

Opening with a melodic guitar strum, Kiera’s cheerful giggle lifts the song’s spirit from the very first moment. “There are so many fun little melodic moments woven throughout the song,” she says. “The piano riff seems to tinker away in my head after listening, almost like a gentle reminder to remain strange no matter where you are or what you’re doing – embrace your ultimate self in all the moments.”

‘Remain Strange’s vibrant character emerged after a long, deliriously creative day in the studio. “Recording this song was a true creative adventure,” says Kiera. “We played drums in the lounge room, searched the upright piano for the riff, and tracked some banjo in the big room.”

On ‘Remain Strange’, Jack and Kiera worked with WAM 2025 Producer of the Year winner, Dylan Ollivierre (Grentperez, Meg Mac, Holy Holy) with mastering credits to George Georgiadis of Little Wing Sound (Matt Corby, Lotte Gallagher, The Rions).

Hailing from Perth, Whiskey Jack is known for his smooth sound, timeless vocals, and poetic lyricism. Blending indie, folk, alt-country, and Americana influences, he continues to captivate audiences with heartfelt songwriting. In 2024, he was selected by Angus & Julia Stone for the Wild Turkey House of Music mentorship program, and his single ‘Wild Card’ was named WAM Country Song of the Year in 2025.

Born in Margaret River, Kiera Jas’s music, combined with her radiant presence, instantly draws listeners in. As described by ABC Country’s Kath Devaney: “Kiera Jas IS sunshine on a rainy day! Meditation but make it pop, a true sonic wonderland, an adventure at every twist and turn. Gorgeous!” Kiera is dazzling the Australian music scene with her flawless multi-instrumental talent, and an enchanting Bohemian-Rock sound. She’s supported Missy Higgins, Spacey Jane and The Paper Kites and featured at festivals Groovin’ The Moo and Nannup Music Festival (where she was the festival award winner in 2023).

With ‘Remain Strange’, Whiskey Jack and Kiera Jas invite listeners to celebrate individuality, embrace their quirks, and find joy in being unapologetically themselves.

“A gorgeously delicious, richly emotive guitar riff that glistens and glimmers is married to Jack’s unique vocals (one part Marlboro Man, one part laconic Aussie drawl creating a pleasant, rustic charm).” – Scenestr

“Kiera Jas IS sunshine on a rainy day! Meditation but make it pop, a true sonic wonderland, an adventure at every twist and turn. Gorgeous!” – Kath Devaney, ABC (triple j Unearthed review)

“Swept up in Whiskey Jack’s calming, heartfelt, Australiana/Americana twang. Feel like I’m out in the bush or the country’s red earth dirt. Breezy stuff.” – Claire Mooney, triple j

“The night opened with Kiera Jas, whose bubbly presence and easy confidence made for a welcoming start. Even with the crowd still building, she held strong rapport and warmed the space effortlessly.” – Xpress

NO PROMISES ‘MIDNIGHT RIDER” (SINGLE)

No PROMISES Release Driving West Coast Country Rock Single “Midnight Rider” – Out March 23

Alt-country duo No PROMISES return with their new single “Midnight Rider,” a harmony-rich slice of West Coast country rock inspired by the timeless spirit of Fleetwood Mac and Linda Ronstadt.

“Midnight Rider is a harmony-driven West Coast country rock anthem built for open highways, neon nights and the courage to trust someone when the cards are on the table.”

Built on a steady, driving groove and ringing guitars, Midnight Rider captures the restless energy of a late-night escape — a tank full of gas, the cards on the table, and the hope that someone might ride beside you when the road stretches into the dark. The song’s soaring chorus — “Just give me something to hold onto / Tell me I can depend on you” — blends vulnerability with the exhilaration of taking a leap into the unknown.

Produced by acclaimed Australian producer Matt Fell, the track balances warmth and punch, leaning into classic songwriting and organic instrumentation. Fell performs most of the instruments on the recording, creating a rich sonic foundation that lets the song breathe while keeping the momentum rolling.

Driving the heartbeat of the track is the dynamic drumming of Josh Schuberth, whose powerful yet tasteful performance propels the song forward with a road-ready pulse. His groove adds lift and urgency to the track, locking in with the guitars to give Midnight Rider its undeniable sense of movement.

The recording also features lead guitar from Eric Collier, whose melodic lines bring a bright, expressive edge to the arrangement.

Janine Garvey’s expressive lead vocal performance moves between determination and longing, with Janine working together with son Chase Garvey, layering backing vocals that give the chorus its soaring harmonic lift.

Vocals were recorded by Chris Gale at Scarlett Sound, capturing the immediacy and emotional connection at the heart of the song.

With Midnight Rider, No PROMISES continue carving their own lane in the alt-country landscape — blending classic West Coast influences with modern storytelling and unmistakable vocal chemistry.

ABOUT NO PROMISES:  No PROMISES are an alt-country duo from South Gippsland, Australia, blending relatable storytelling with modern Americana edge. Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Janine Garvey and guitar-slinger Eric Collier, the pair craft songs that feel both deeply personal and made for the open road.

Their music draws on the raw honesty of country, with the energy of rock and the soul of folk, creating a sound that’s equally at home in smoky bars, on festival stages, or on the soundtrack of a long drive. Known for their strong onstage chemistry and emotionally charged live shows, No PROMISES delivers lyrics that resonate, wrapped in rich harmonies and fiery guitar work.

Since forming, they’ve been steadily building a loyal following, turning heads with their single “Those Boots” — a stomping, flirty anthem that’s all swagger and charm (reaching number 2 on the regional AMRAP charts) — and the epic  “Underground,” a melodic, emotionally charged anthem about finding connection amongst the chaos. (Reaching number 1 on the regional AMRAP charts).

The duo are currently working on their third album with acclaimed producer Matt Fell, which is slated for release in July 2026.

Authentic storytellers, No PROMISES captures the spirit of two artists chasing the song wherever it leads — no smoke, no mirrors, just great music and stories that connect.

Performing as a duo, or backed with their band, No PROMISES are one act you don’t want to miss.

JIMMY BEAR ‘SEE YOU AGAIN’ (SINGLE)

Some songs are written… and some songs are felt.

“See You Again” is a raw, emotional journey through love, regret, and longing. From the very first line — “You’re leaving but you never said goodbye” — the story hits with honesty and vulnerability. It’s that moment we’ve all faced: watching someone walk away while the words we needed to say stay trapped inside.

Verse one captures the sting of unfinished goodbyes. A smile, a teardrop, and the silence that lingers long after the door closes. Then the chorus opens the heart wide: “When will I see you again – oh I just wanna hold you in my arms again.” Simple. Direct. Powerful. It’s not complicated — it’s human.

Verse two deepens the ache. An empty house. Long nights. Days filled with memory. The repetition of “I need you” isn’t weakness — it’s truth. It’s love stripped back to its most honest form.

The bridge adds a haunting image — throwing coins into a wishing well, hoping for something that may never return. Falling under a spell. Needing love. Needing that love.

“See You Again” is for anyone who’s ever loved deeply, lost painfully, and still held onto hope.

Sometimes goodbye isn’t the end… it’s just a question waiting for an answer.

ABOUT JIMMY BEAR: Jimmy Bear is a seasoned singer-songwriter, guitarist, and live performance artist who has been captivating audiences since the age of 17. Known for his soulful country vocals, exceptional lead and rhythm guitar work, and dynamic stage presence, Jimmy has carved out a respected place in the Australian music industry.

His talents have taken him from playing with blues legend Bo Diddley to supporting some of Australia’s most iconic bands, and even writing for country music royalty—his poignant track “The Last Ride” was recorded by Slim Dusty on the gold album The King of Kalgoorlie (EMI).

A true musical storyteller, Jimmy co-wrote a children’s album about dinosaurs with eight-time Golden Guitar winner Allan Caswell, released by ABC TV children’s entertainer Glynn Nichols through ABC/Sony Music.

The Funky Fossils album was nominated for an Aria award that year in the children’s category.

Jimmy Bear performs an impressive 150 shows a year as a solo act on the Sydney live circuit, earning a loyal fan base with his authenticity and passion. His 2023 single Silence and Dust—a heartfelt ballad that reached No. 1 on the Australian Country Thunder Top 30—showcases his depth as both a writer and performer.

As he continues to evolve, Jimmy Bear is working with some of the best musicians and producers in the business, including Eddie Parise (Baby Animals), Steve James (Screaming Jets, Mental As Anything), and Sam Panetta (Kylie Minogue, Crowded House).

With new music on the way and an album planned for release in 2026, Jimmy remains dedicated to his craft, constantly exploring new creative ground and building meaningful connections with fans and collaborators alike.

ICE NINE KILLS PRESENTS HELL OR HIGH SLAUGHTER (GRAVE DIGGLER: PT. 2)

From The Major Motion Picture READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME

SONG AND MUSIC VIDEO ONLY AVAILABLE ON YOUTUBE
WATCH HERE

TOURING NATIONALLY THIS SEPTEMBER

“If you were a kid in the ‘80s, and you were into fast cars, fast girls, and sniffing glue, then you were into Grave Diggler.” – Matt Pinfield (Radio & MTV icon)

“What people don’t know is that the way that Ice Nine Kills actually met is that all of our fathers were in Grave Diggler.” – Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills)

Their sons may have eclipsed them in the 21st Century, but for a sleazy moment, Grave Diggler left its stain on hard partying rock n’ roll with decadence, desecrations, and panty raids. The group once stood shoulder to shoulder with their eyeliner-and-excess peers in Poison, Mötley Crüe, and W.A.S.P., before bad business and even worse drugs dampened the fire in their loins. By the early ’90s, like many glam bands, Grave Diggler faded from the spotlight.

But history has a strange way of digglering up the past.

When the directing duo behind Scream (2022) and Scream VI, began work on the sequel to their 2019 black comedy horror hit Ready or Not, they desperately wanted to include one of Grave Diggler’s forgotten classic anthems. But even after Radio Silence Productions deduced the connection with Spencer Charnas, securing the rights was no mean feat.

The ensuing legal battle between fathers and sons resulted in Ice Nine Kills re-recording Hell or High Slaughter (Grave Diggler: Pt. 2) for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come and the long-banned 1987 music video for the song seeing the light of day.

“I’ve been estranged from my father for a long time,” Spencer explains. “But this movie, and this song, while bringing a lot of complicated feelings to the surface, also brought us back together.”

Ice Nine Kills Presents Hell or High Slaughter (Grave Diggler: Pt 2)” and it’s NSFW music video are only available on YouTube. Watch and listen here:

Broken Lizard’s Paul Soter (Super Troopers), a lifelong Diggler obsessive, teamed up with director Myles Erfurth (Pandemic Sex Party) and Spencer to detail the band’s tale in a forthcoming documentary.

Laid to Rest: The Grave Diggler Story features all-new interviews with Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’s Samara Weaving (The Babysitter), Kathryn Newton (Freaky), Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings), and directors Matt  Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett; Stephen Pearcy (Ratt); Matt Pinfield (MTV); Michael Starr (Steel Panther); Jose Mangin (SiriusXM); James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca (Dead Meat); Andy Gould (former Rob Zombie and Guns N’ Roses manager); and both Sonny and Spencer Charnas.

In recent years, Ice Nine Kills toured the world with Metallica; A Grave Mistake went gold; A Work of Art was in Terrifier 3, the highest-grossing unrated film ever; and Twisting the Knife ft. Mckenna Grace, from Scream 7 (which topped the box office upon release and set a franchise best record for Scream) shot to No. 1 on multiple Billboard charts.

But even as Ice Nine Kills Presents Hell or High Slaughter (Grave Diggler: Pt. 2) blazes into Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (playing both in an early scene and again over the closing credits), Sonny Charnas remains characteristically unimpressed. “You call my son shrieking into a microphone like a meshuggah mental patient ‘singing’? That’s not heavy metal. I’m heavy metal.”

Ice Nine Kills will return to Australian stages this September, supporting Electric Callboy nationally in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

SNAKE BITE WHISKY Pay Tribute To Randy Rhoads with Killer Girls, Featuring Quiet Riot Founder Kelly Garni

In November 2025, during a run of Australian shows celebrating the legacy of legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads, Quiet Riot founding member Kelly Garni was joined on stage by Australian rock powerhouse Snake Bite Whisky for a special performance of the track Killer Girls.

What began as a one-off moment during the show quickly sparked a bigger idea.

Following the tour, Garni and Snake Bite Whisky headed into the studio to capture the song properly, recording a new version of Killer Girls that channels the energy of that live performance while paying tribute to one of rock’s most influential guitarists.

“Killer Girls” was written by Randy Rhoads and Kevin Dubrow and originally appeared on the album, Quiet Riot II released in 1979. ‘It’s a sleazy rock and roll story about wild women in the nightlife scene and the trouble they can cause’ says Snake Bite Whisky guitarist Scuba Steve.

The release of Killer Girls honours the 44th anniversary of Randy Rhoads’ passing on March 19, 1982.

Featuring Garni alongside Snake Bite Whisky, the recording stands as a salute to Rhoads’ enduring impact on generations of guitarists and the hard rock scene that followed in his wake.

EMMA LOUISE ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM SUNSHINE FOR HAPPINESS

Out 1 May via Future Classic

Listen to “God Between Us” now

Fresh off the collaborative album Dumb with GRAMMY Award winning producer Flume, singer-songwriter Emma Louise announces her fourth studio album Sunshine for Happiness.   Out 1 May, the LP is an ethereal and deeply personal collection that transforms a moment of personal collapse into a radiant musical rebirth. Alongside the announcement, Emma also shares the album’s new single, “God Between Us.”

Set against rich piano and luminous instrumentation, “God Between Us” offers an early glimpse into the album’s emotional and spiritual core. Like much of Sunshine for Happiness, the track balances vulnerability with transcendence, capturing Emma’s search for meaning in moments of joy, loss, and transformation. Emma reflected, “”God Between Us” is about how love is underneath everything, no matter if it’s good or bad. It’s in both the creation of, and the destruction of everything.”

Accompanying the release of “God Between Us” is a stunning official music video showcasing natural beauty around the world, shot by Sam Kristofski (Tame Impala, PNAU) on 16mm film in front of the active Kīlauea volcano in Hawaii, as well as in Los Angeles and at Emma’s property in Australia.

Watch God Between Us (dir. Sam Kristofski) here

The creation of Sunshine for Happiness began back in 2020. Emma found herself at the lowest point of her life. Following the release of her acclaimed 2018 album Lilac Everything, she felt burned out, isolated, and ready to walk away from music entirely. During what she described as a “complete mental breakdown,” she checked herself into a hospital in Los Angeles, an experience that would ultimately reshape both her life and art.

Inside the hospital sat a piano. Drawn to it almost instinctively, Emma began writing songs free from expectation or pressure. What followed was a creative outpouring, reflections on love, healing, longing, and the clarity that can emerge from darkness. At her personal lowest, she found an unexpected peace and turned it into song.

These songs became Sunshine for Happiness, a luminous 12-track album that documents the breakdown that became a breakthrough.

In the years since recording the album, Emma married, became a mother, and experienced divorce. Now, after a long journey back to herself, she’s ready to share the songs that carried her through.

Sunshine for Happiness was created with the GRAMMY-award winning team of Tobias Jesso Jr. (Olivia Dean, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, HAIM) and Shawn Everett (Sombr, Miley Cyrus, Kacey Musgraves, Maggie Rogers, Hozier).

Sunshine for Happiness captures ego death, rebirth, and the quiet peace that arrives after the storm — stepping fully into the light after the longest night.

Progressive Death Metallers GROWTH Release Title Track To Under The Under

New Album Out March 27 via Wild Thing Records

Touring Nationally with Psycroptic & Rivers Of Nihil This August

Below rock bottom under the weight of truth.
Yet in facing truth there is a spark that reveals there’s more to you than your darkest place…

Recently, Melbourne progressive-death outfit Growth emerged with their first new music in over half a decade with the blistering, Remember Me As Fire and Forward, Further, Spirit Killer. Both tracks come from the first new music from the long-awaited second chapter of their planned trilogy, Under The Under which will be released on March 27 via Wild Thing Records.

Today they release Under The Under, the title track from the album. This track dives into the fear of letting go of old stories and asks: who are we without the weight of the past? A haunting meditation on identity, grief, and the courage to uncover what’s beneath.

Lead Vocalist: LF states that “it’s comforting to be haunted. All that rattling of chains. By surrounding yourself with ghosts, it gives form to everything you’ve lost. They’re something more meaningful than words. Even if your physical and spiritual bodies are starved and in excruciating pain, at least you’ve got ghosts. Without them, the terrifying questions come forward: what if the dignity we give our suffering is false? What if we can still be kind, strong people without dragging that weight? What if you’re more than a collection of stories that keep yourself up at night? Uncovering that is the second step.“

**********

Growth began in 2017 as a reflective space for brothers Tristan Barnes (guitar/bass/artwork) and Nelson Barnes (drums), and vocalist LF, later joined by Nick Rackham (bass) and Ben Boyle (guitar), to explore trauma, mental illness and grief without romanticising them. The project was never intended as catharsis for its own sake, but as a way to illustrate recovery in all its brutality. not as linear progress, but as something fractured, cyclical and deeply human.

The gap between releases has been deliberate….and necessary. Where The Smothering Arms of Mercy was written from within collapse, sickness and isolation, Under the Under exists in the far more uncomfortable space that follows: what happens when survival is no longer the question and you’re forced to confront who you are once the wreckage settles. In the bands own words, healing, is not gentle. It is an ugly process. Chaotic, disorienting and often more confronting than the pain that preceded it.

Under the Under, is an album that documents six stages of recovery – not as levels to be celebrated, but as thresholds to be endured. Across the record, Growth interrogates the dignity we attach to suffering, the comfort of identifying solely with trauma and the terrifying possibility that we might be more than the stories that have kept us alive.

Growth does not offer solutions but instead offer honesty and an invitation to sit with the questions most of us spend our lives avoiding.

Under the Under is set for release on March 27 via Wild Thing Records

FOXY SHAZAM ANNOUNCES FIRST AUSTRALIAN HEADLINE TOUR IN JUNE 2026

Foxy Shazam have announced their first ever headline Australian tour for June 2026 after releasing their latest critically acclaimed album Box Of Magic late last year. It marks the band’s first Australian shows in 15 years since performing at Soundwave Festival 2011.

The rock icons have enjoyed a mammoth resurgence of late, performing sold out tours, with their track ‘Oh Lord’ featuring heavily in John Cena’s HBO Max show ‘Peacemaker’. Famed director and DC Comics head James Gunn not only chose the song to open each episode, but the show cumulates in a full Foxy Shazam live performance to close out the hit series’ second season.

Gunn, declaring that “Foxy Shazam are objectively the greatest rock and roll band in the world”, featured more of their music in last summer’s blockbuster movie ‘Superman’. He even tapped lead singer Eric Nally for a cameo and brought him on to help create the theme song for the fictitious DC Comics band of lore, The Mighty Crabjoys, unsurprisingly also featuring members of Foxy Shazam.

Formed in 2004 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the band quickly became known for their glam-infused stage theatrics, energetic live performances and swaggering rock and roll anthems. Their songs are flexible and performance-driven, with an emphasis on showmanship. By blending glam, funk, soul, and theatrical rock, the band became more than just a traditional rock act, earning the avid devotion of their loyal fans, and garnering comparisons from Alternative Press to Queen, My Chemical Romance and previous tour-mates and collaborators The Darkness.

The band’s current lineup consists of Eric Nally (lead vocals), Schuyler “Sky” White (keys), Alex Nauth (trumpet/backing vocals), Devin Williams (guitar), Misster Universe (bass), and Teddy Atkins (drums). Like fellow Cincinnatian Bootsy Collins and Bootsy’s Rubber Band, Foxy Shazam is, for all intents and purposes, a rock collective with multiple talented members, each with a distinct look and personality who contribute beyond standard, stereotypical roles.

Foxy Shazam’s Eric Nally was famously featured singing on the song and in the video for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ worldwide hit ‘Downtown,’ a song he also co-wrote. “Downtown” has surpassed 8x platinum sales in Australia alone, while topping the radio charts globally. Nally has joined Macklemore as a featured guest performer on three separate Australian tours, headlining multiple arenas and festivals.

Finally in 2026, Foxy Shazam will make dreams come true for Australian fans with their first shows back down under in 15 years.

“If this is just a dream, I don’t wanna wake up…”

Support for all shows comes from 80s glam revivalists BIG RED FIRE TRUCK, following their debut Japan and European tours, featuring pro wrestler Digby Robinson.

PADDY MCHUGH AT HIS MOST PERSONAL ON NEW ALBUM STREET LIGHT INTERFERENCE. OUT NOW!

With Street Light Interference, Brisbane songwriter Paddy McHugh takes the storytelling and social insight that defined his last release, City Bound Trains, and digs even deeper.

The record treads familiar ground – narrative-driven songs, sharp-eyed social commentary, and characters drawn with honesty – but this time the focus turns inward.

This is McHugh at his most personal.

Across its tracks, he opens the door to his own life, writing candidly about fatherhood, love, the joy and messiness of raising children, and the heartbreak of divorce. Vulnerability, once hinted at in his work, now sits at the centre – not as confession for its own sake, but as part of a bigger story about being human in a complicated world.

Made possible through the generosity of a dedicated fan base via crowdfunding, alongside support from Creative Australia, Street Light Interference was recorded in a small bush studio outside Stanthorpe, QLD. Surrounded by familiar faces, McHugh worked with the same trusted musicians who have been part of his journey from the start, capturing the kind of chemistry that only years of collaboration can bring.

Humble in its delivery but rich in purpose, this is another chapter in McHugh’s ongoing project to make songs that connect. It’s a record intended to bring joy, but also to challenge – to make listeners think, feel, and question. At its heart, Street Light Interference is a document of one man’s life, shared in the hope that it might illuminate something in someone else’s.

MORGAN EVANS RELEASES SOPHOMORE ALBUM STEEL TOWN

LISTEN HERE AND DROPS HOMETOWN VIDEO FOR TITLE TRACK – VIEW HERE

+ MAKES HIS RETURN TO NASHVILLE’S GRAND OLE OPRY THIS FRIDAY NIGHT IN US

AUSTRALIAN TOUR KICKS OFF MAY 21 – TICKETS ON SALE NOW

We’re shaped by where we come from. For global country artist Morgan Evans, that’s always meant a certain edge-of-the-world wonder, with songs steeped in the belief that joy is out there – just waiting to be discovered. He unpacks that belief and reforges his creative identity on sophomore studio album, Steel Town, available everywhere today via Solrise Records / Virgin Music Group. Listen to Steel Town HERE.

Returning to the spotlight with his first new music in nearly three years, Evans emerges with clear eyes and an open heart, tempered by experience and with love back in his soul.

“That all starts with me going back to my hometown and reconnecting with my roots – where I came from and who I used to be … and who I still want to be,” Evans explains. “It felt like the sky was falling down and the walls were caving in, but when I got back home, it was such a good, grounding thing. I’m sure it is for everyone when they go back to their hometown.”

Pairing a sun-dappled mix of modern country and rock with his easy-going flair for pop nostalgia, Evans traces the full arc of his journey on a record named for industrial hometown, 11 songs dig deep into themes of home, healing, and renewed hope. A truly transformational song cycle written or co-written entirely by Evans himself (including two emotional solo writes), his new project sets him finally free of the past, as he gets back to his original mission: celebrating this crazy ride we call life.

To celebrate the occasion, Morgan has released the official music video for the album’s title track. “Steel Town” was captured live at the Howlin Festival in Newcastle last month, marking a full-circle moment in his hometown. It was the very first time Morgan performed the song live, and the energy of that debut made it the perfect setting to document on film. Blending that raw, live performance with iconic footage from around Newcastle, the clip brings the story of “Steel Town” to life in a way that feels both deeply personal and visually powerful – making it a fitting lead video for the new album. View here.

“Hopefully people can feel it for themselves, and I hope it makes everyone want to come out to a show,” Evans says.“Come drink a beer and raise it up with me, let’s toast it all.”

Fans will have the chance to toast with Evans on tour, as his headline Steel Town Tour makes its way across Australia and New Zealand in May and June with Laci Kaye Booth opening. Evans will celebrate the record stateside with a return to the circle at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, Friday, 20 March (US time).

ABOUT MORGAN EVANS: Beneath the globally appealing country sound Morgan Evans is known for runs the unmistakable influence of his coastal Australian roots. Raised by blue-collar parents on a few acres of land along Australia’s east coast, he carries that grounding with him wherever his music goes.

It’s been two years since he last released music. Evans spent much of that time in his hometown of Newcastle, the steel city where he first fell in love with songwriting. That period of reflection tapped a deep vein of creativity, ultimately bringing him back to Nashville with a renewed passion for crafting songs that resonate on a global scale. Today, his music has been streamed over one billion times worldwide, a testament to the universal connection he’s built with fans.

His 2018 debut album, Things That We Drink To, catapulted Evans into international acclaim, delivering his first-ever country radio #1 with the Platinum-certified “Kiss Somebody” and the Gold-certified fan favorite “Day Drunk,” while drawing praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, PEOPLE, and more. In 2022, he headlined Australia’s biggest country music festival, CMC Rocks, and has toured extensively across North America and Europe.

Following two more EPs, Evans hit a new career high with the release of the raw and viral “Over For You.” The track marked a cathartic reset and culminated in two sold-out nights at the iconic Sydney Opera House, just down the road from his hometown—a milestone captured on his 17-song Live at the Sydney Opera House album.

Evans launches his next chapter now with sophomore studio album, Steel Town, available now.

RACHAEL FAHIM ANNOUNCES NATIONAL ALBUM TOUR

SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘DEEP END’ FROM FORTHCOMING DEBUT ALBUM ‘WHO YOU ARE’ OUT MAY 1st

Australian country-pop artist RACHAEL FAHIM continues the lead up to her forthcoming debut album Who You Are with the release of her new single, ‘Deep End’, alongside the announcement of a national album tour kicking off Thursday April 30th in Wollongong.

‘Deep End’ offers another preview of her new album due Friday May 1st on Island Records Australia and arrives as Rachael prepares to hit the road next week supporting US superstar Jordan Davis on his upcoming Australian Arena tour.

LISTEN

PRE-ORDER

Who You Are is a collection of raw and honest modern country-pop songs that were written between Nashville, Los Angeles and Sydney. Rachael has a canny ability to capture a complex human feeling into one or two memorable, concise lines, lines which are perfectly moulded to verse upon verse, chorus upon chorus, all throughout this considered, impressive release.

Standing apart on the record, ‘Deep End’ is the only love song on the album, offering a hopeful and heartfelt moment on Who You Are. An album shaped by the highs and lows of relationships, ‘Deep End’ celebrates the feeling of diving headfirst into love.

“After a lifetime of feeling lost, guarded, and half-prepared for things to fall apart when it came to guys I’d date, this song captures the moment you meet someone who makes you want to believe again. It’s about choosing vulnerability over fear, giving your whole heart instead of holding back, and learning that real love isn’t just for the weekends – it’s for every messy, beautiful day in between,” shares Rachael.

Who You Are has already delivered a string of radio hits including ‘Never Coming Back’, ‘Dance Around It’, ‘Good Luck’, ‘Who You Are’ and the #1 Australian Country Airplay Chart hit ‘Too Damn Hot’, with Fahim establishing herself as one of the most consistent hitmakers in Australian country music.

Today’s release continues a remarkable period for Rachael, who performed ‘Deep End’ live in Brisbane yesterday at the Country Town Awards. Following the upcoming Jordan Davis supports, Rachael will next appear at Meatstock Festival this April before embarking on her Who You Are National Album Tour with dates across Newcastle, Melbourne, Logan and Brisbane among others.

NATHAN LAMONT TURNS UP THE ENERGY WITH NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘INTO IT’

Nathan Lamont captures the rush of the moment on his infectious new single ‘Into It’ – a country pop anthem packed with energy, clever songwriting, and the singer’s unmistakable swagger. Equal parts feel-good and flirty, the track leans into connection, momentum, and the thrill of chasing a good time while you’re right in the middle of it. WATCH VISUALISER HERE

Written during Nathan’s time in Nashville as part of the CMAA Sister Cities Nashville Exchange Program, ‘Into It’ was co-written with acclaimed songwriter and Aussie ex-pat Phil Barton. The track was born out of the excitement of chasing big dreams in country music’s spiritual home.

“I remember walking into Phil’s writing room and telling him I just wanted to write a song that was fun to sing and play on stage and that’s exactly what we came up with,” recalls the singer-songwriter. “‘Into It’ is about momentum, connection and chasing that good time high while you’re in it.”

Produced in Melbourne by Michael De Lorenzis – the maestro behind N

athan’s hits ‘Bigger Things’, ‘What Comes After’ and ‘Younger’, – the single builds on the sonic direction Nathan has been developing, blending polished country pop with a nostalgic ’80s edge.

“When I got back to Australia, we worked closely together to really shape the track into what it is now, tightening sections of the lyrics and refining the structure until it felt right. We also wanted to push things slightly in a different direction. With artists like Russell Dickerson and Charles Kelley recently experimenting with traditional ’80s instrumentation and synth textures, I felt inspired to explore the blurred lines of what’s considered country and lean into that ambiguity.”

The release is accompanied by a striking visualiser filmed during the Tamworth Country Music Festival with filmmaker Jeremy Minett of Eyes and Ears Creative at Dathem Park Sheep Station in Tamworth, NSW.

“One thing I’ve always loved about working with Jeremy Minett is our ability to capture the mood and energy of a song with minimal planning and virtually no budget,” laughs Nathan. “I sent Jeremy the track and asked if he had any time to shoot something while we were both at TCMF. We found ourselves parking a Ford Ranger on top of a grassy hill on the property, letting the headlights and the rolling landscape do all the heavy lifting.”

The release follows Nathan’s previous single ‘Younger’, which climbed to #31 on the CountryTown Hot 50 airplay chart and landed extensive editorial playlist support across Spotify and Apple Music. The track featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday (AU & NZ), Heaps Country and Release Radar playlists, with Nathan also serving as the cover artist for ‘Heaps Country’ for three consecutive weeks – including a run at the No.1 position. On Apple Music, ‘Younger’ was added to Today’s Country, Aussie Country, New In Country, Little Bit Country, Country Lovin’ and New Music Daily.

With over three million streams and a rapidly growing fanbase, Nathan continues to cement his place as one of Australia’s most exciting rising country pop voices. A proud Wiradjuri artist from Wagga Wagga, NSW, his career has already seen him recognised as a 2 x APRA AMCOS Professional Development Awards Finalist and a CMAA Sister Cities Nashville Exchange Scholarship recipient.

Nathan’s time in Nashville proved a defining chapter in his story, culminating in a performance at Americanafest as part of the renowned Aussie BBQ showcase – a highlight that included introducing an American audience to a classic Australian treat. With more live dates on the horizon back down under, Nathan continues to build a reputation for energetic live shows and an authentic connection with his audience.

With ‘Into It’, Nathan Lamont continues his upward trajectory – blending pop polish, country heart and an undeniable sense of fun that makes it easy to see why audiences are getting into it right alongside him.

21st March – Chattahoochies – Brisbane, QLD
12th & 13th April – Karijini Experiene – Karijini National Park, WA

Davey Lane returns with new single  An Absent Lover’ – featuring Nitida.

Taken from his latest album, Finally, A Party Record.

Davey Lane set to hit the road with Augie March through April/May + performing at The Gum Ball Festival.

Don’t Thank Me, Spank Me! support Bad Dreems on tour with Bad Dreems this April/May.

Sometimes the best collaborations come around when no-one is asking for them. Then again, is the best art made under duress of expectation anyway?

Davey Lane is a musician, now freshly furnished with a place in ARIA Hall Of Fame for his work with You Am I. He is yet to walk the Halls themselves but is assured his name is there alongside his beloved bandmates. He has played with many artists over the years but his work in the field of “Davey Lane” (in which he is outstanding in) is his primary creative outlet.

A hottmess on the public transport system of northern Melbourne, Nitida is best known for being 50% of the pop duo on the rise to stardom, Don’t Thank Me, Spank Me!  Or maybe you saw her show-ponying clad head-to-toe in Sherrin red Edgeley on telly with Mark Seymour at the MCG for the AFL Grand Final? Or perhaps you know her from her cult one-woman Elton John singalong residency “Beltin’ Elton” at the Ragtime Tavern? Or maybe you don’t know her at all? A fashion icon, a force of life and a guaranteed good time. Nitida is a naturally charming and vivacious performer and songwriting powerhouse.

An Absent Lover came about years ago when Davey found an arpeggiated synth combination that spoke to all his synapses and realigned his chakras. It was the pandemic times. House-bound and bored, he turned this abhorrent oscillating electronic noise into a backing track for a song. One that lay dormant for a long time. “I sat on it for years and I didn’t think it’d ever get finished. I had ideas but they were always just too busy or too stupid. Everything was too square peg round hole. I always need solitude to work through things, but his one was just a dry tap. Nothing. Then I heard Don’t Thank Me, Spank Me! What a band. What a record. Their brand of ingenuity, sass and musical nous was very refreshing. It was brassy and unapologetic, and an antidote to self-serious doe-eyed misery so I got in touch with Nitida, thinking she may be the perfect collaborator for this song, and may be able to pull me out of my usual depresso-pop comfort zone. And did she what!”

An Absent Lover is a psych-disco psychodrama that’s out and done in just over 4 minutes. Hitherto unchartered terrain for both Davey and Nitida and designed to elicit unbridled, ecstatic enthusiasm.

Davey Lane supports Augie March on their 20th anniversary “Moo, You Bloody Choir” tour through April and May.  As well as The Gum Ball Festival on April 24 (Hunter Valley), and La La Las in Wollongong with Vasco Era on April 25.

Don’t Thank Me, Spank Me! support Bad Dreems on their “Ultra Dundee” tour, also through April and May.

Absent Lover  is taken from Davey Lane’s ‘Finally, A Party Record.’ – out now via Cheersquad Records and Tapes.

ROSSCOE FRANTZ Lays His Heart On The Line In ‘Raw and Bitter’ Single Out Now

Stream ‘Raw and Bitter’

There is something acutely uncomfortable in being human, in loving and learning to let go, and WA-based indie folk-rock artist Rosscoe Frantz masterfully captures those sentiments in his latest single, ‘Raw and Bitter’.

In 2025, Rosscoe Frantz released his debut EP ‘Share House’, adding another notch to his belt. He has supported the likes of Sarah Blasko, Boy and Bear, and Pete Murray, performed at Blues at Bridgetown Festival, sold out his EP launch at 459 Bar in Perth, and landed on Spotify and Apple Music playlists.

Building on that momentum, ‘Raw and Bitter’ sees Rosscoe Frantz further the terrain he has already begun to map out.

Softly strummed guitar with a healthy dose of reverb and grit open the track, as the sleepy arrangement wakes up, bringing in elements of percussion and lead guitar. Rich vocals cut daggers with Frantz’s emotive lyrics; the refrain ‘everything turned raw and bitter’ sings out across the musical room, breaking like a teenage heart losing their first lover.

Elaborating on the meaning behind the tune, Rosscoe Frantz says:

“‘Raw and Bitter’ is a stark, intimate reflection on the parts of love people rarely talk about. The moment when a relationship is strong, the feeling is real, but the future isn’t necessarily aligned. The song explores the tension between deep affection and quiet doubt, where love coexists with confusion, and staying means asking the hardest questions. It’s a song about holding something precious in your hands and not knowing whether to fight for it or let it go.”

Deliberate and contemplative, the introspective musings that Rosscoe Frantz delivers on ‘Raw and Bitter’ serve as a clear expression of his evocative brand of storytelling. It is not only the vivid lyrical imagery and emotional tension that give the song its weight, but the brooding undercurrent within the arrangements, where space, texture and slow-burning dynamics mirror every unresolved feeling.

Cathartically reflective, he is in touch with the most candid emotions on his most unflinching release to date, ‘Raw and Bitter’ is out now.

ESCAPE THE FATE Team Up With The Word Alive For An Extensive Australian Tour This June!

Las Vegas post-hardcore heavyweights Escape The Fate will make their long overdue return to Australia this June, bringing with them US metalcore mainstays The Word Alive – taking in every capital city and a couple of regional ones too!

For over two decades now, Escape The Fate have been one of the most recognisable names in modern hard rock, building an incredible catalogue packed with stadium-wrecking hooks, ferocious riffs and the kind of jackhammer heaviness that has kept fans coming back since their breakthrough record, 2008’s This War Is Ours. The bands latest release, 2025’s Redefined, once again showcases a band that comfortably moves between crushing heaviness, soaring choruses and anthemic rock moments like true masters of their craft.

Australia has always held Escape The Fate close to their hearts with the bands fanbase being one of the most loyal in the world, patiently waiting three long years for their return.

That patience will be rewarded with a live show packed with fan favourites, massive singalongs and the kind of explosive energy that has defined Escape The Fate’s reputation as one of the greatest live acts of their era.

Joining them on all dates will be Arizona metalcore veterans The Word Alive, a band who have built a fiercely loyal global following of their own. Their relentless live energy and emotionally charged songs have lead to them becoming one of heavy musics biggest success stories with the 2018 single, Rise, achieving an astonishing 388 million plays!, Reaching across nearly two decades of material, The Word Alive will deliver a set guaranteed to turn every venue into a wall-to-wall singalong.

EDIE Ushers In A New Era With ‘Fall Of Man’ Out Thursday, March 26

It is frustrating waiting for someone to change, and even more so when defeat and hopelessness begin to settle in. Perth/Boorloo-based artist EDIE captures that anger and despair as she ushers in a new era on her latest single ‘Fall Of Man’.

Following her 2024 EP ‘unsaid’ and the sharp-edged singles ‘Bleed’ and ‘Girl’s Girl’, ‘Fall Of Man’ signals a striking shift in EDIE’s sound. Where her earlier releases leaned into indie pop/ alt-rock, she trades guitars for synths in this new chapter.

Exploring darker, alternative electro-pop, sparse synth lines and a pulsing electronic drumbeat form the foundation, allowing EDIE’s melodic verses and ominous choruses to sit front and centre. The result is an entrancing composition with a dreamlike quality.

Co-written with Calvin Bennett, ‘Fall Of Man’ pairs EDIE’s biting lyricism with hypnotic pop production. Controlled and restrained in its opening moments, the track slowly builds tension as EDIE’s vocals hover over the minimal arrangement. What begins as a slow-burning atmosphere gradually swells into a cathartic final section, where waves of synths surge beneath her voice, releasing long-held emotion.

The track explores the emotional exhaustion that comes from trying to help someone who refuses to change, capturing the moment when hope begins to give way to resignation. Speaking on the meaning behind the song, EDIE explains:

“This song explores my frustration about someone who is not willing to change or not willing to listen. It’s that feeling of defeat and hopelessness you get when you realise you can’t fix that person.”

EDIE and director Stephanie Senior have built a catalogue of music videos together, often incorporating subtle thriller and horror influences into their visual storytelling. For ‘Fall Of Man’, it is no different as they lean into the song’s darker mythology.

Set within a watery, blue-toned seascape, EDIE appears as a haunting Aphrodite-like figure emerging from the ocean. What begins as ethereal and alluring slowly reveals a more sinister edge. In the final chorus, the character turns monstrous, feeding on her lover in a chilling, horror-inspired sequence before slipping back beneath the water’s surface, leaving only her eyes visible as she recedes into the depths.

With ‘Fall Of Man’, EDIE’s affinity for thriller and horror themes deepens, pairing minimal electronic production with gothic imagery. ‘Fall Of Man’ and its accompanying music video are out now.

SUNK LOTO Announce A Trio Of Shows This August In Support of Crushing New Single, Dead Shadows, Out May 8

Gold Coast metal icons Sunk Loto return to the stage in August playing their first shows since 2023. Hitting the Crowbars and the Corner with new single Dead Shadows front and centre.

Instrumental in shaping Australia’s heavier end of the alternative scene in the early 2000’s,
Sunk Loto were mentioned in the same breath as Sevendust, Korn and Deftones.
After a decade of being everywhere, they disappeared in 2007 –  gone for 15 years.

Then in 2022, they came roaring back and picked up exactly where they left off, whipping the old guard, and a tonne of new fans into a frenzy via two sold out national tours.
It was like they never went away.

With plenty left to say, they showed it with their first new song in twenty years, The Gallows Wait,
a less than subtle reminder that none of the ferocity had been diluted.

Of the upcoming tour the band comment; “We’re going to be playing a spread of old and new, songs we haven’t played live in years, our new single and more from the forthcoming release.
We can’t wait, see you there!”

Dead Shadows will be released on May 8 along with a music video featuring a full band performance filmed with rising star videographer Colin Jeffs. This will be the first video clip to feature the band since 2003.

These shows will be the closest you’ll get to Sunk Loto in full flight. Both literally and figuratively. Initmate rooms, no barriers. Just the band, the crowd and the music.

If the last run of dates proved anything, it was that people couldn’t get enough.
We’d be surprised if these shows don’t sell out fast.

TOUR DATES
Tuesday, August 11: Crowbar, Brisbane (public holiday eve)
Thursday, August 13: Crowbar, Sydney
Friday, August 14: Corner Hotel, Melbourne

CRAIG PAYNE ‘Song In My Pocket’ — The Final Single From Moving & Shaking

Multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Craig Payne is set to release the final single from his 2026 album Moving & Shaking on March 27.

Titled Song In My Pocket, the track marks the closing chapter in a trilogy of singles supporting the critically praised album. Moving & Shaking has showcased Payne’s versatility, blending gritty rock, modern country, and raw Brit-pop influences into a cohesive and distinctive body of work.

Song In My Pocket carries a subtle nod to Dire Straits in its tone and feel, while firmly maintaining Payne’s original sonic identity. The track complements the earlier singles with its unique lyrical style and musical delivery, rounding out the project with both character and depth.

With the release of this final single, Payne signals a shift in creative direction. Having produced eight studio albums over the past five years—each exploring different musical angles—he is now turning his attention toward new and potentially unexpected artistic territory.

As Payne recently shared: “I’ve produced eight studio albums in the last five years, each having a different angle, so if I am going to produce a ninth album – it has to be really different, and that may take quite some time.”

In the meantime, listeners are invited to immerse themselves in the evolving soundscape of Craig Payne, with Song In My Pocket and the full Moving & Shaking album available across major streaming and download platforms.
