THE CAT EMPIRE LAUNCH FIRST NEW SINGLE & VIDEO OF 2026 ‘ROCKET’

Fresh off an ARIA nomination for Best World Music Album, Aussie icons The Cat Empire today share ‘Rocket’, their first new studio music since 2025’s Bird in Paradise.

LISTEN TO ‘ROCKET’ HERE

Bombastic, percussive and unmistakably The Cat Empire, ‘Rocket’ reunites the band with long-time friend and collaborator Jan Skubiszewski, marking their first time working together since he produced 2007’s fan-favourite Steal the Light, the album that propelled them onto the international stage. It lands as the band tour the country on their national encore orchestral run through to January 2027.

“‘Rocket’ kicks off this next chapter in the best possible way,” says Felix Riebl. “It’s big and percussive in that classic Cat Empire way, but it’s got something new about it too. There’s a tropical, Latin, surfy, Brazilian street-parade feel to it, and the horn line is familiar and fresh at the same time. It was a riot to record. It lit up the studio, with everyone shouting the countdowns, dancing and letting loose, and it feels like a song that’s going to hold its place in the live set for a long time. We wanted something that would excite the fans who’ve been with us from the early days, something that captures the spirit of where we started. Lyrically, it’s a collision of images and contrasts that’s chaotic and celebratory, and it pulls people right into that wild momentum.”

The accompanying video pays tribute to the 90s and early 2000s indie performance clips the band grew up on. Shot mostly on a camcorder, it’s deliberately loose, lo-fi and off-the-cuff, and offers a first look inside a new visual world created by art director Guilia McGauran: a clean, blank-canvas studio that will slowly descend into paint and chaos as new music rolls out. “This one is real clean compared with how crazy it gets,” Felix teases. “It was a blast getting it started with this one.”

The new single arrives on the back of a huge few years for the band. Since welcoming a new line-up in 2023, with Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill carrying the legacy forward, The Cat Empire released Where The Angels Fall (#5 ARIA), toured 40 dates worldwide including Glastonbury, and sold more than 25,000 tickets across their orchestral shows with Australian symphony orchestras. 2025’s Bird in Paradise debuted at #2 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and was toured across North America, Australia, Europe and the UK, including a sold-out night at London’s 3000-capacity Troxy.

In May 2026 they released Live at Sydney Opera House with Sydney Symphony Orchestra, now nominated for Best World Music Album at the ARIA Awards 2026, and recently sold out seven shows across Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane on their national encore tour. This year they also played Vancouver for the FIFA World Cup, marking their 20th show in 20 years at the Commodore Ballroom.

‘Rocket’ is just the first spark, with the promise of plenty more to come from the beloved band. In the meantime, fans can catch The Cat Empire on the road, where two decades of hits meet the thrill of the new and every show feels like a street party. In a world that could use a lift, The Cat Empire remains the ultimate joy injection.

THE BAMBOOS DROP THEIR THIRD SINGLE “ON & ON” FROM UPCOMING ALBUM “SUGAR ON TOP” FEATURING REGINALD AK ON VOCALS

Melbourne Soul powerhouse The Bamboos keep up the forward Funk momentum with the third single leading up to their 12th studio album, “Sugar On Top”. “On & On” has an energy that lives up to what’s on the box with a rolling bassline and insistent drums from the long-standing rhythm section of Yuri Pavlinov and Graeme Pogson, but this time with the guest vocals of Reginald AK.

PRE-ORDER ALBUM NOW

This is the second Bamboos album that Reginald AK has contributed to following on from the tender Nu-Soul excursion “Safe From Harm”, which was a standout on the band’s previous album, 2023’s “This Is How You Do It”. Reginald AK is the singer / drummer in one of Melbourne’s brightest up and coming Soul acts, Steppers, plus he’s carrying on the legacy of his mother, The Bamboos’ own Kylie Auldist.

“The only effective method of quelling the overwhelm felt when facing my shit head on is to write a song about it,” said Reginald when analysing the song’s themes. “Everything in life is hard and scary and new and we fear change – but real strength comes from running at it. So look it dead in the eyes and run at it. It’ll all be over in a minute, so you may as well end up with some stories of grit and a healthy opinion of yourself.”

VIEW “ON & ON” CLIP HERE

The global reaction to the first two singles “Rockets & Flowers” and “Sugar On Top” has been more than enthusiastic with plays and support from radio and DJs with notable support from stations such as KEXP Seattle, BBC 6Music UK, ABC Australia local radio, national radio stations in Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Norway as well as on dozens of Soul specialist terrestrial and online radio stations across Europe, UK and North America.

The highly anticipated ten track album will feature also feature guest vocals from Rita Satch, whose 2025 debut album “Meet Me In The Garden” was one of Melbourne’s best Soul releases of the year and has recently been touring the UK and Europe with Jazz legend Gary Bartz, as well as old friend of the family, Tim Rogers of You Am I. Rogers of course has a long history with the band, going right back to the breakthrough 2012 hit “I Got Burned”. But it’s the vocals of Australia’s Queen Of Soul, Kylie Auldist that is the backbone of this album, as she has been for the band over the last twenty years.

While the album was recorded with the band’s long time co-producer and engineer, John Castle (whose in demand studio skills have been called in by the likes of Alex Lahey, Vance Joy, Angus & Julia Stone, Jack River and Cub Sport), this time Ferguson decided to track it at Castle’s recording space in his new home of Launceston, Tasmania.

The viral success for their 2006 track “I Don’t Wanna Stop”, which exploded on social media in late 2025 shows no signs of abating with now well over one billion plays on TikTok and with similarly huge numbers across Instagram and YouTube. Long a live favourite, there’s been no pattern or trend to the song’s success in how it’s been used, with users in almost every language and country around the world simply drawn to an undeniably feel-good sweet Soul tune. The song saw another wave of success earlier in 2026 with a remix from one of Australia’s best Dance acts, Cosmo’s Midnight.

“On & On” is out Oct 2nd on Pacific Theatre.

KODALINE RELEASE FINAL STUDIO ALBUM WE WERE ONLY YOUNG OUT NOW VIA CONCORD

FAREWELL WORLD TOUR EUROPEAN LEG STARTS IN NOVEMBER

UK SHOWS IN DECEMBER SOLD OUT

The beloved Irish band Kodaline have released their final studio album We Were Only Young via Concord. Listen/Purchase here.

Saying goodbye is never easy, but Kodaline have written the perfect closing chapter to their story with We Were Only Young. A band born busking on the streets of Swords, Dublin to go on to triumph against the odds and deliver a chart-topping, multi-platinum and multi-billion streamed career to touch the hearts of fans across the globe.

Following an extraordinary career spanning more than a decade, Kodaline offer listeners this last statement, a contemplative and hugely moving work that explores pertinent themes of growth, connection, love and closure, as they look towards a bright and hopeful future.

“It’s a great feeling to be releasing new music, giving the fans something new before we go our separate ways,” says drummer Vinny May. “I think we owe it to them – some of them have been with us from the very start, supporting us through thick and thin, and we wouldn’t be who we are without them.”

“We’ve got fans who feel like family, who’ve grown up with us and played our music at their birthdays, weddings, funerals, the births of their children,” frontman Steve Garrigan adds.  “It’s a strange feeling, reflecting on all of it now.”

We Were Only Young weaves a tapestry between beautiful ballads, from the soft and soaring acoustics of ‘All I Ever Need Is You’, to the piano and gospel-laced ‘Learn To Lose’. While the tender songs are joined by huge such pop anthems, such as the bright ‘It’s Not Over’, and the propulsive harmony driven ‘Get Me High’.

A jubilant folk bounce rings out through latest single ‘Vultures’, complimenting the haunting cavernous sounds that mark the beginning and end to the record, which launches with the bold and brooding ‘Who Will Save You Now’ and closes with the uplifting yet solemn ‘The One For Me’.

Kodaline have been treating fans to songs from the new album live on their extensive Farewell World Tour this year. The shows are huge celebrations, and the band kicked things off with massive outdoor shows in Ireland, performing to 50,000 fans in June. This preceded a sold out run across Asia and Australia, while they will close the year with performances across Europe and the UK. SMUSKO  ‘VERMOUTH’ (SINGLE) – Released October 16

One of the fave songs doing the rounds at Australian Musician mag headquarters at the moment. It’s out October 16. See if you have any luck getting it out your head! It’s a feel-good, head-nodding, foot-stomping bewdy!

The Smusko sound is a noir-tinted combination of atmospheric indie rock and elegant 50s jazz. Sydney Indie/Alternative/Noir-Jazz artist Smusko pairs crooner-style vocals with lush, reverberant guitars, a dark and driving rhythm section, and orchestral strings. In doing so, he cultivates a mood that is spacey, cool, intimate, vintage; made to be heard in the wee sma l hours. This original sonic fingerprint has established Smusko as someone worth paying attention to, a compe ling artistic force in Sydney’s underground, with a magnetic live performance that has drawn in an audience of introspective listeners and people who come alive in the solitude of night.

Having released just three singles, Smusko has showcased at SXSW Sydney, received recognition from Triple J, FBi Radio, ABC RAGE, PBS Radio and 2SER, sold out three single launch shows, and supported artists including The Slims, Julienne Harvey, Clay Western. Smusko’s visual work has earned impressive accolades, from a Gold Award at the Australian Cinematography Awards to a nomination and shortlist from the Canberra Short Film Awards.

Smusko’s ‘Vermouth’ is his boldest most upbeat single yet, seeing Smusko push his signature noirtinted combination of dark, atmospheric indie-rock and elegant crooner jazz into a swaggering new territory. The track is introspective and raw, an internal conversation about the cost of high ambition – that a normal life will not suffice. Vermouth is supported by a powerful set of enigmatic visuals, a cinematic music video, and launch show at Golden Age Cinema.

Vermouth will be launched with Late Service, a new late-night cultural event bringing music, film and visual art together in Sydney after dark. Hosted at the Golden Age Cinema.

The night will feature live music, a curated art exhibition, short films and, free black coffee. It’s an attempt to build something around the idea of late-night culture.

GOODFRND  SHARES BRAND-NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘SIT DOWN

DOES TODAY REALLY HAVE TO HAPPEN EP

OUT THURSDAY NOVEMBER 26

PRE-SAVE EP HERE

Alt-pop artist GOODFRND has a knack for hiding heartbreak inside a hook, and new single ‘Sit Down’ is his sharpest example yet. Big drums, crunchy guitars and glossy synths deliver a sugar-rush of a song, while underneath it wrestles with the exhausting loop of blame that follows a falling out.

LISTEN TO ‘SIT DOWN’ HERE

The track arrives today alongside a new video, offering the second taste of his six-track EP Does Today Really Have To Happen, due November 26.

Where lead single ‘Landing’ set the scene, ‘Sit Down’ is where the gloves come off. It’s the sound of someone finally dropping the stories he’d been telling himself and saying the quiet part out loud.

“Sit Down is about the time spent deciding whose fault it was. Mine, theirs, mine, theirs,” says GOODFRND. “When I say I lied before, I mean the things I’d been telling myself to make it all make sense. That I could fix the bad habits and there was a version of me good enough to keep. There’s a dig in this song and I’m not going to pretend there isn’t, but that’s what acceptance actually sounded like for me. Less like peace, more like finally saying it out loud and feeling in control of myself again.”

The video plays out like the final scene of a teen film, with GOODFRND dancing through Melbourne’s streets, headphones in, oblivious to everyone around him. It was shot in a single afternoon by school friend Liam of Teel Studios, who has taken on every video for the EP as a passion project.

WATCH VIDEO HERE

“I love movies, and this one’s my coming-of-age moment,” says GOODFRND. “We were losing light the whole time, so it was go go go from the second we started. Dancing in public never stops feeling weird, but eventually I figured everyone watching had forgotten about me five seconds later, so I may as well enjoy it.”

‘Sit Down’ builds on the momentum of ‘Landing’, which scored a triple j Unearthed First Play and national commercial radio airplay on HIT Hot Hits. Both tracks were made with best mate and ARIA Award-winning producer Agnus Beats (The Kid Laroi, Allday, JK-47), whose home studio became the EP’s base over eighteen months.

Since 2025 debut EP IT’S NOT THAT SERIOUS, GOODFRND has sold out Howl & Moan Records, toured with Colliflowers, headlined a show in Madrid, played Breaking Sound LA and closed in on 800,000 global streams, all while steering everything himself, from merch to videos to rollout.

Does Today Really Have To Happen is his most personal work yet, named after the question he woke up asking every morning through one of the hardest stretches of his life, then spotted word for word on a friend’s mug. Across six tracks, the EP moves through a falling out in real time, from the first bitter swing to hard-won acceptance, in alt-pop that sounds far happier than it is, somewhere between ROLE MODEL, Dominic Fike and the 2000s pop-rock he grew up on.

Few emerging artists build a world as completely as GOODFRND. Every song, video and idea comes from the same clear vision, and ‘Sit Down’ shows just how far that vision can go. He’s an artist worth getting to know now, before everyone else does.

DIIV SHARE NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO, ‘TRILLIONS’

NEW ALBUM ZIRP! PRODUCED BY A.G. COOK   OUT OCTOBER 30 VIA FANTASY RECORDINGS

PERFORMING AT LANEWAY FESTIVAL 2027

Ahead of the release of new album, ZIRP! out October 30 via Fantasy Recordings, DIIV share new single and video, ‘Trillions’ co-written by A.G. Cook. The next taste of ZIRP! arrives after the announcement of DIIV’s inclusion on the lineup for Laneway Festival 2027. ‘Trillions’ arrives alongside a bombastic pop music video directed by Jaxon Whittington.

Big house, wads of cash, flashy fast cars, and always fitted in a business suit. Is it fantasy, is it delusion? Is it earnest or is it satire? That’s complicated, but it is clearly the most pop song DIIV has ever made, co-written with A. G. Cook.

‘Trillions’ follows the previously shared singles ‘Kid’, which also arrived with a music video directed by Whittington and shot by vocalist Zachary Cole Smith’s son Roy and his friend Julian and lead single ‘The Fountain’. Earlier this week, DIIV performed to a packed out room in New York City where they performed songs from ZIRP! live for the first time.

Last week, Laneway Festival announced DIIV on their stacked 2027 lineup. The Laneway tour follows DIIV’s June 2025 Australian tour, which included headline performances at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre, Brisbane’s Princess Theatre, and Perth’s The Naval Store, alongside appearances at RISING (Melbourne Town Hall), Hobart’s Dark Mofo and VIVID Sydney (Carriageworks).

This is The New Alternative: a new genre for the 21st century. More specifically: a new genre for music’s optimised VC-funded super deluxe remixed AI-enhanced algorithmically perfected wild west 2020s, where a million streams is great, a billion even better, and a trillion well within reach. On their fifth album ZIRP!, DIIV emphatically and ecstatically embrace the underground pedigree and the pop instinct that have anchored the band like magnetic poles for the better part of their career – smashing them together in pursuit of a sound that pre-empts any notion that Zachary Cole Smith, Andrew Bailey, Colin Caulfield and Ben Newman have ever been playing between worlds. Put more simply, on ZIRP! DIIV answer the simple questions that so many bands can’t: What would it mean to grow up? And glow up, too?

For as long as they’ve been making music, DIIV have been victims of a world without the vocabulary to describe their willingness to braid the harshness of genres like shoegaze (on 2024’s Frog In Boiling Water) and grunge (2019’s Deceiver) with mellifluous and memorable pop melody. Over the years, the world has caught up with them, with artists like Slayyyter, Eartheater and Turnstile forcing old-guard gatekeepers to find new ways to describe this gleeful disregard for old-fashioned scene designations and genre tags. With ZIRP! – and their embrace of The New Alternative – DIIV lock in on a name for the universe they’ve been chasing for all these years, and a sound that represents the apotheosis of that universe.

Produced by British pop wizard A. G. Cook (Caroline Polachek, Charli XCX, Troy Sivan) – a chief architect of our current post-category future – ZIRP!, named for the zero interest rate policies that drew us into a world of failed startups and turned us all into atomised “users,” expands on the themes of Frog In Boiling Water with a newfound lightness. Here, Palantir, societal breakdown and streaming’s endless hamster wheel are all fodder for rich, sparkling pop songs. Album opener and lead single ‘The Fountain’ pairs the sprawl and squall of DIIV records past with a jolting rhythmic guitar section that has arena-filling potential. Throughout, the band is zeroing in on its punchiest, most memorable melodies to date, each new internal hook and tossed-off earworm indicative of a band more than ready to make good on its ability to play in the mainstream.

When DIIV initially approached Cook, the producer says, “it was in the spirit of destroying & rebuilding their demos, Screamadelica-style, into a finished product, but that hybrid, half-remix approach felt completely wrong to me.” Instead, he became a professor of DIIV studies, attending the band’s shows and forming a unified theory of where the band needed to go next. “I became a bit obsessed with their live sound, and insisted on recording live drums before most of the songs were even finished. We spent a lot of time recording intricate guitar parts with specific guitar pedals, and as little time as possible doing anything on a computer, at least by my standards,” he says. “After a few rounds of that, ZIRP! emerged as a concept, and a sort of utopian, dystopian mantra. For me it became a vehicle to push the band into new territory.”

Check out ‘Trillions’ and pre-order/save ZIRP!, and stay tuned for more from DIIV coming soon.

*Live with orchestra
^Live show

Since emerging from Melbourne’s dance music scene, SWIM has built a rapidly growing international following through a fiercely independent approach to music and live performance, releasing more than 50 tracks, multiple EPs and two full-length records. His live show has evolved alongside that growth, moving from intimate hometown rooms to sold-out performances at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, London’s KOKO and the Sydney Opera House, alongside appearances at major festivals throughout Australia and Europe.

At the heart of SWIM’s music is what he describes as “emotional dance music” – a meeting point between introspection and release, cinematic songwriting and club-focused production. On stage, that idea expands into something much larger. Electronic production is combined with live instrumentation, orchestral arrangements, lighting, movement and visual world-building to create a show designed to feel as emotionally immersive as the records themselves.

That ambition has increasingly pushed SWIM beyond the conventions of a traditional electronic live set. From recording sweeping string arrangements with a full string orchestra in Budapest to incorporating live strings and ballerinas into his performances, each iteration of the show has become more expansive, cinematic and theatrical.

“I’m so excited to be coming home to Australia and taking this show around the country. Playing with an orchestra at the Sydney Opera House was such a special moment for me, and ever since then I’ve wanted to take that idea further. These shows are going to be the biggest and most ambitious shows we’ve put together yet – bringing the live music, orchestral side and electronic show into one world. I can’t wait for people to experience it.”  SWIM

The 2027 Australian tour will see SWIM return home with the most ambitious version of his live show yet, bringing together the different sides of his catalogue and creative world on a scale not previously seen across his Australian headline performances.

Presale registration is now open.

DAVE ANGEL RETURNS TO R&S RECORDS WITH NEW ALBUM ‘ A TIME AND PLACE’

British electronic music pioneer Dave Angel has returned to R&S Records with “A Time And Place”, his first full-length album release for the seminal Belgian label. Released thirty-five years after Dave first joined the R&S family, the album reunites one of UK techno’s defining voices with the imprint that helped launch his career, renewing one of electronic music’s most enduring creative partnerships.

That relationship began in 1991, when R&S founder Renaat Vandepapeliere discovered Angel’s “Rolling Thunder” project and invited the young London producer to Belgium. Personally welcoming him into the R&S family alongside a new generation of forward-thinking electronic artists, Vandepapeliere released the landmark “1st Voyage” EP, helping establish Dave Angel as one of British techno’s most distinctive new voices. A succession of acclaimed releases followed, including “Stairway To Heaven”, “3rd Voyage”, appearances on the influential “In Order To Dance” compilation series, and releases on sister imprint Apollo, charting an artistic partnership that helped shape both Angel’s career and the wider evolution of UK techno.

Three and a half decades later, “A Time And Place” feels less like a return than the continuation of a conversation left unfinished. Rather than revisiting former achievements, the album reflects the perspective of an artist whose creative journey has continued to evolve. Reconnecting with the label that first championed his work, Angel delivers his most personal and musically expansive statement to date.

Across fifteen compositions, “A Time And Place” reaches beyond the conventions of techno to reveal the full breadth of Angel’s musical identity. Drawing on jazz, soul, improvisation and richly textured electronic production, the album balances rhythmic precision with warmth, melody and emotional depth. Reflections on family, heritage, nature and the communities that have shaped his life sit alongside broader observations of the world around him, creating a body of work that feels both intimate and expansive.

That openness is reflected in a carefully chosen cast of collaborators. Celebrated trumpeter Steve Waterman features on both “Réflexion” and “The Yellow Butterfly”, bringing a lyrical, Miles Davis-inspired voice to the album after first catching Angel’s attention through his work on Paul Hazel’s “Out Of This World”. Elsewhere, legendary Chicago vocalist Robert Owens appears on “Harmony Serenade”, while guitarist Merv Carswell and vocalist Aurii Sky, Dave’s daughter, add further colour and texture to a record rooted in musicianship and shared expression.

While Dave Angel’s influence on British electronic music has long been established, “A Time And Place” reveals another dimension of an artist whose foundations were laid long before techno. Raised in a household immersed in live music and jazz culture, Angel has spent a lifetime absorbing sounds beyond the club, allowing those influences to surface naturally throughout a career defined by curiosity rather than convention.

For R&S Records, the album renews a relationship that stretches back to the label’s formative years. For Dave Angel, it reflects both the path travelled and the road ahead. Thirty-five years after “1st Voyage” first announced his arrival, “A Time And Place” reunites artist and label with the same forward-looking spirit that brought them together in 1991, proof that the strongest creative partnerships continue to evolve.

“A Time And Place” by Dave Angel is out now on R&S Records across 3LP and digital formats.

VACATIONS 4th Album, Pursuit Of Anything, Out Now

Vacations – Campbell Burns, bassist Jake Johnson, guitarist Nate Delizzotti, and drummer Joseph Van Lier—release their new album, Pursuit of Anything, out now on Nettwerk and unveil the video for album highlight and closing ballad, “Lucky, Forever.” As well as this, the band announce an extensive North American Tour, beginning Feb 2027.

Watch the Video for “Lucky, Forever”

Burns describes “Lucky, Forever” as “me trying to write the most clichéd love song that I can while trying to be really earnest” and was directly inspired by his attending the weddings of Johnson and  Van Lier. “I wanted to write a song from their perspective,” he recalls. “I don’t really write love songs, and as a subject it’s been incredibly overdone. But it was really refreshing to just write something that was so simple when it came to the intention.”

Pursuit of Anything captures Vacations at a turning point as Burns reflects on the disorienting, often contradictory experience of growing up, tracing his path from Newcastle (Australia) to Los Angeles and New York—caught between ambition and the more traditional lives unfolding back home. Written by the band and produced by Burns, the album finds Vacations operating as a fully creative force with Burns drawing constant inspiration from his bandmates: exploring how they share a common experience, yet all have their own “pursuits.”

Mixed by Beatriz Artola (Geese, Caamp), the result is a richer, more intricate, and emotionally expansive sound. Pursuit of Anything arrives as the band solidifies their place as one of the most globally resonant indie acts of their generation with sold-out world tours, double-platinum certified hits, and over 3.5 billion streams. The record turns inward, driven by the push and pull of devotion to music, relationships, and self-discovery. It is this tension that fuels an earnest, dreamy pop album that feels instantly classic.

Pursuit of Anything is a labor of love, the product of a group of friends who have been making music together since they were barely out of their teenage years. On it, there are weddings, families, reflections on the past, and hope about the future. “It’s about happiness as a feedback loop,” says Burns of the record’s title, “How you keep chasing the next thing.” It’s a record that feels classic the first time you listen to it, it feels like chasing that rush, that sense of self discovery and rediscovery. And it shows Vacations at the height of their songwriting powers. It’s a pop record that takes pop music seriously. Lovely, earnest, dreamy and hopeful as they come.

To celebrate the release of Pursuit of Anything, Vacations are launching a game and interactive app called The Pursuit by Lee Martin. It’s an album companion that is inspired by the nostalgic feel of the iPhone OS 3. In it you’ll find custom apps, including “The Pursuit” endless runner game (featuring an 8-bit remix of the song “Holy Grail”), a green checker camera filter, & anonymous voicemail messages of fans from the Pursuit Hotline (call 1-346-PURSUIT now to leave your own).

KELI HOLIDAY RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE “LOVE WAS A STRANGER”

STREAM HERE | WATCH VIDEO

OUT NOW INDEPENDENTLY

Fresh off a chart-topping second album, sold-out national tour and one of the biggest independent singles in recent memory, Keli Holiday – the solo project of Peking Duk’s Adam Hyde – returns with new highway–ready “Love Was A Stranger”, out now.

Written in the wake of Capital Fiction’s runaway success, “Love Was A Stranger” marks the beginning of a new chapter for Keli Holiday and finds him turning the lens outward – a song about what it means to lead with love when the world seems programmed for the opposite. Sonically, it’s pure Australiana with a classic rock heart. A driving beat and a streak of alt-country twang carry the track, while Keli’s gravelly vocal sits on a sultry, rolling groove. Big-hearted and built for singing back, it has all the makings of a future pub anthem.

Speaking on the single, Keli Holiday shares: “This is an expression in response to my experiences since releasing Capital Fiction. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautifully stupid. It is about masculinity, sure, but ultimately it represents the fact that we fear the unknown and today it feels like love is a stranger more than ever. Hate seems to be the default gear online. If we all got to know what we are longing for a little better, I think we’d find ourselves smiling at the sky instead of chasing dopamine on a screen. It’s about meeting everything thrown at you with love. It ain’t easy and it ain’t complete, but the journey itself is something to share through the vessel of a song that feels like cruising down a highway at 3am with the desert wind in your hair.”

The track arrives with a music video directed by Isaac Brown. “To me, the song is about owning who you are in the face of judgement,” says Brown. “We wanted to take that idea and make it physical, so Keli finds himself in this strange little world where people are literally taking aim at a target made in his image. The guns become a fairly direct metaphor for being targeted for the man you are and the artist you choose to be. There’s something interesting in the tension between being yourself and the pressure to make yourself more palatable to other people. Even with a target on his back, Keli meets that hostility with love rather than fear.”

Keli Holiday – “Love Was a Stranger” Official Music Video

“Love Was A Stranger” follows a run that few Australian artists have matched in recent memory. Capital Fiction debuted at #1 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart. Peking Duk’s Paradise also arrived at #1, making Adam Hyde only the second Australian artist in history to score two #1 albums in a single calendar year across two separate projects. Lead single “Dancing2” became a genuine phenomenon: it hit #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart on its way to Platinum certification, landed at #2 in triple j’s Hottest 100 as the highest-placing Australian song (alongside two further Keli Holiday entries), and became the #1 most viral sound on TikTok. The track topped Spotify’s Viral chart in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland, reached #2 in the UK, and has racked up over 700 million views across social platforms.

Along the way, “Dancing2” picked up the ARIA Award for Best Video in 2025 and has been nominated for ARIA Song of the Year in 2026. Keli Holiday took out Rolling Stone’s Readers’ Choice Award, and the track spent months at #1 on the AIR Independent Singles Chart, with support from Greg James on BBC Radio 1 and Novena Carmel on KCRW.

Born out of the creative stagnation of the pandemic in 2021, Keli Holiday became Hyde’s escape – a space for heartbreak, sonic exploration and reinvention beyond the multi-platinum, ARIA Award-winning success of Peking Duk. But it’s in a heaving, sweat-soaked room that the project truly comes alive. Having sold out shows in every Australian capital city on the Capital Fiction tour, Keli Holiday took the album to rooms across North America, the UK and Ireland. As Hyde puts it: “I will be releasing Keli Holiday albums until the day I drop dead.”

FEUERSCHWANZ Release New Single “Carpe Noctem” feat. IN EXTREMO

FEUERSCHWANZ invite you to enjoy the night to the fullest and leave all rules behind with the release of new single “Carpe Noctem” feat. legendary IN EXTREMO! The song combines the unmistakable energy of FEUERSCHWANZ with the characteristic sound of IN EXTREMO. Together, they unleash an anthem to the night, bringing both bands’ voices and the unmistakable sound of FEUERSCHWANZ together. “Carpe Noctem” stands for freedom and those moments when nothing matters but living in the here and now.

The feature with IN EXTREMO could hardly be more fitting: in 2027, both bands will embark on their major “Heute wird der Himmel brennen” co-headline tour across Germany. “Carpe Noctem” already provides the perfect soundtrack for this tour – loud, anthemic and made for unforgettable sing-alongs and long nights. Before the joint tour kicks off in spring, FEUERSCHWANZ will celebrate their big METFEST on December 19, 2026 at the Grugahalle in Essen.

FEUERSCHWANZ on “Carpe Noctem”:

“‘Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make’

That is how Count Dracula spoke in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel. In our journey into the nocturnal world of the walking undead, ‘the children of the night’ become ‘the warriors of the night’, and we are joined by the fine company of IN EXTREMO!

As a band that emerged from the German medieval rock scene, this is a true accolade, and we are looking forward to howling at the full moon every night on the joint tour! Because it is only at night that we are free – CARPE NOCTEM.”

BLACK RHENO FRONTMAN PARTNERS WITH ROCK ’N’ ROLL DIVE BAR “WINGS & TINS” TO PUT THE NORTHERN BEACHES VENUE ON THE TOURING MAP

After nearly two decades spent pounding the pavement of Australia’s live music circuit in various bands, Black Rheno frontman Ryan Miller aka “Milla” is stepping up as venue co-owner of Wings & Tins in Dee Why. Joining forces with local bar owner Mark Baird, the pair have transformed the venue from an already killer Wings & Tins restaurant into a dedicated rock ’n’ roll dive bar and live music destination on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

What began as Milla casually lending a hand around 18 months ago has organically evolved into something much bigger. Over the past four to five months, Milla has officially joined Baird as a business partner, bringing his extensive experience as a touring musician, music promoter, music producer and owner of Housefox Studios and Cult Etiquette PR, into the venue’s next chapter.

Together, Milla and Baird have been steadily transforming Wings & Tins into a dedicated live music space, with extensive renovations to the bar and performance area, a substantial new PA system, professional stage monitoring and a renewed focus on delivering quality live sound.

The result is an intimate, 100-capacity rock ’n’ roll dive bar with a serious commitment to live music.

Over the past several months, the guys have been building a growing calendar of live performances, championing local bands and creating new opportunities for the Northern Beaches music community to connect, perform and grow.

The weekly program now includes music trivia on Tuesdays, an inclusive open mic night every Thursday welcoming musicians, songwriters, poets and performers, and live bands across Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

But while nurturing the local scene remains central to the venue’s focus, Milla and Baird have their sights set on something more.

Connecting Australia’s touring circuit with the Northern Beaches.

Wings & Tins is now putting the call out to touring bands or all styles of music, booking agents, promoters and artists from across Australia to bring their shows to Dee Why and connect with the Northern Beaches’ thriving local music community.

The intimate 100-cap venue offers an ideal stop for emerging touring acts looking to build their audience, as well as established artists seeking a sideshow opportunity outside Sydney’s traditional inner-city circuit.

For Milla and Baird, the ambition is about more than simply filling a gig calendar. It’s about creating lasting connections between local musicians and the wider Australian live music scene, bringing touring artists and Northern Beaches bands together on the same stage.

Milla tells us: “I’ve spent half my life touring Australia in various bands, and I know firsthand how important smaller venues are to the music scene. I understand what it’s like being in a touring band, but I also understand what goes into booking tours, promoting shows and making it all work.

“When I first started helping Mark at Wings & Tins, I was purely doing it for the love of it, to help build something cool in my area. Over time, that grew into something bigger, and when the opportunity came to officially join the business, it just felt right.

“We’ve spent the last few months building up our local music scene, and now we want to open the doors to touring bands from across Australia and beyond. Big or small, local or international, across all genres. We want Wings & Tins to become a regular stop on the East Coast touring circuit connecting our local artists with bands from all around Australia and beyond.

An open invitation to Australia’s live music community.

With a professionally equipped stage, an established local music network and a growing calendar of events, Wings & Tins is actively welcoming enquiries from touring bands, independent promoters, booking agents and artists looking to add a Northern Beaches date to their touring schedules.

From emerging underground acts to established touring bands seeking an intimate sideshow, the venue aims to bring touring artists and local talent together, creating opportunities to share stages, build audiences and strengthen connections across Australia’s live music community.

For Milla and Baird, the mission is straightforward: build a great rock ’n’ roll bar, support the bands that make the scene possible and give Australia’s live music community another stage to call home.

Australia’s touring bands: Sydney’s Northern Beaches are calling.

MARK LANG ‘BIRDSONG’ (SINGLE)

MARK LANG releases focus track BIRD SONG from forthcoming album Wild Swan

Stream Bird Song

Wild Swan Album launch (sold out)

Melbourne Recital Centre Salon
Saturday 24th October

Renowned Australian lyricist & storyteller, Mark Lang, releases his new single BIRD SONG on Wednesday 7th Oct. The track features Abby Dobson of Leonardo’s Bride who adds a haunting female vocal to join his own.

Birdsong is the focus track of Marks forthcoming album WILD SWAN. The track explores the delayed ricochet of emotions you suppress to get through a major health crisis, giving yourself permission to take the time you need to heal even when it feels like the world has moved on.

Bird Song came to life after a conversation with a stranger. Mark was standing by the water with his dog circling his feet, clearing his head before a recording session. A woman approached and they struck up a conversation. She had come to the coastal town to recuperate after long, gruelling cancer treatment, and was now experiencing the delayed aftermath. From personal experience, Mark understood this. While friends feel relief once someone is in remission, for those directly affected there is still a long journey ahead, of confronting all the emotions they’d had to suppress in order to get through. Those memories rose to the surface in the studio that day. What emerged was a song of companionship for those still navigating their way out, giving permission to feel everything they need to, even when it seems as though the world has moved on.

Recently returning from a Canadian tour & run of Australian dates with C.W Stoneking, Mark will launch his album on Saturday 24th October at Melbourne Recital Centre (sold out).

Mark Lang has written three critically acclaimed albums making many album of the year lists as the singer-songwriter of Australian indie band Skipping Girl Vinegar. Thrilling audiences from the main stages at Australia’s premier festivals including solo shows at Bluesfest, Cambridge Folk Festival (UK) Port Fairy Folk Festival, Splendour In The Grass, Woodford Folk, Falls Festival and many more. Mark’s work has received extensive airplay on major national broadcasters Triple J, ABC, Double J and community radio, as well as US college radio play with 7 weeks in the Top 100 CMJ charts, and numerous #1 & #2 positions across the US.

Mark toured his debut solo E.P extensively across Europe and North America including a sold out Australian tour.

Destroy All Lines Presents SURVIVE SAID THE PROPHET
Tokyo Rock Powerhouse Make Their Australian Debut This February

“At one moment soaring, the next collapsing into chaos, theirs was a set that left more than a few jaws slack.”  When The Horn Blows, Download Festival 2025

Australia has waited fifteen years for this one.

This February, Tokyo’s Survive Said The Prophet finally make their Australian debut, bringing their explosive live show to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane for three intimate headline shows.

Known throughout Japan simply as Sabapuro, Survive Said The Prophet have spent more than a decade turning stages into their natural habitat. Big hooks, crushing guitars, electronic textures and the bilingual vocals of frontman Yosh collide in a live show built for absolute audience participation.

This isn’t a band that fits neatly into one corner of heavy music. Formed in Tokyo in 2011, Survive Said The Prophet pull from post-hardcore, alternative rock, pop, electronic music, hip hop and R&B, creating songs that move from soaring melody to devastating heaviness without warning. It has taken them from clubs across Japan to stages around the world, building an international audience through a relentless touring schedule and a reputation strengthened with every show.

The band first landed on people’s radars via Mukanjyo, the opening theme to acclaimed anime series Vinland Saga, however, discovering Survive Said The Prophet through a screen and experiencing them live are two very different things.

Survive Said The Prophet recently pushed their sound even further. 2025 album Luv Sux Sessions included collaborations with Matt Good of From First To Last on State Of Mind and Ryo Kinoshita of Knosis on Useless, while 2026 has already delivered further new music including Speak of the Devil feat. Masato and Hollow featuring Jean-Ken Johnny from MAN WITH A MISSION.

Their reach has since taken them throughout North America, Europe and the UK, including appearances at Download Festival, Rock am Ring, Rock im Park and Rock for People.

Now, after fifteen years, it’s Australia’s turn and for their first visit, they’re not testing the waters from the safety of a festival stage, they’re heading straight for venues where it will be up close and personal.

SICK VISOR release relocation anthem ‘‘06 Camry’

The first release from sessions with Frenzal Rhomb’s Jason Whalley

SICK VISOR Announce Australian tour for October/November

Reformed emos rejoice – Naarm duo Sick Visor are back with another slice of their happy-go-lucky meets slightly-existential pop punk, with new single ‘‘06 Camry’ out today. Stream HERE and watch the vertical visualiser HERE. The band will support the release with headline single launch shows in Brisbane and Melbourne in the coming weeks, alongside support shows in Sydney and Adelaide.

Having previously self-produced and recorded their music, Alex Moses (vocals / guitar) and Katie Lovelock (drums / vocals) decided to bring in a fresh perspective on ‘‘06 Camry’. The duo enlisted Frenzal Rhomb’s Jason Whalley (The Chats, C.O.F.F.I.N) for engineering and producing duties, travelling to Sydney to record with him at The Pet Food Factory studio in Marrickville. The track was mixed and mastered by Jarred Nettle (Teenage Joans, TOWNS).

“With ‘06 Camry I think we’ve really found our sound,” notes Alex. “We’ve always wanted to make fun and fast punk music, but when producing songs ourselves it was so easy to be caught up in trying to make things ‘perfect’ which can mask some of the soul within a song. Working with Jason, we threw away the bells and whistles, played together in a room and captured more raw and authentic performances than we had before. ‘06 Camry sounds the way Sick Visor was meant to – fun and fast punk, turned up to 11 and sung with a smile.”

Along with Alex’s dynamic vocals and Katie’s soaring harmonies, Sick Visor’s new single delivers an infectious, hook-filled melody and maintains the punchy, bright pop punk riffs fans have come to love. Lyrically the new single details a pivotal moment in Alex’s life, when he decided to pack up everything he owned into his beloved ‘06 Camry, and drove from Brisbane to Melbourne.

“I was feeling lost, and that the only way to find what I was looking for was to shake my life up, so I crammed all my clothes and guitars into my beat-up car and drove 1800kms away, and moved into a cheap Melbourne sharehouse,” Alex reflects. “‘06 Camry’ is a song for anyone who’s had a gut feeling that they need to make a change and jumped in head first.”

Alex’s move to Melbourne paved the way for Sick Visor’s origin story. Starting the band in a Melbourne sharehouse in 2022, Alex and Katie wrote their first songs for the project purely as a creative outlet. Since then, the duo have landed spins on triple j, glowing reviews on Unearthed, extensive DSP playlist support, and music video playlisting on Rage. Their collaboration with Adelaide duo TOWNS, ‘Feeling Alright Forever’, was amongst the top 5 most playlisted songs in Australia in its week of release.

Having toured Australia coast to coast, Sick Visor have shared stages with Australian indie rock mainstays Beddy Rays, The Terrys and Sly Withers, with late 2025 seeing them join the likes of Frenzal Rhomb and WAAX on tour. Earlier this year, Sick Visor sold out their Melbourne headliner in support of their Chuck A Sickie EP.

With an undeniable energy and a brand of music that’s fun, fast and unguardedly honest, the duo are quickly becoming one of Australia’s most enjoyable emerging acts. Catch them in the very near future celebrating the release of ‘’06 Camry’ in Brisbane and Melbourne, as well as additional shows in Adelaide, Brisbane, and Sydney throughout November.

Turning the volume down while bringing the emotion closer, Australian folk-pop duo CALI RD release their new single ‘The Docks’, alongside the announcement of their debut EP Boxes, arriving Friday November 13th. Quieter and more understated than Cali Rd’s previously released singles, ‘The Docks’ offers another glimpse into brothers Sam and Jack Hunt’s intimate songwriting and effortless melodies.

‘The Docks’ is a bittersweet heartbreak song about finding the right person at the wrong time. It captures the urge to revisit the past and rearrange the pieces – wondering whether a relationship was rushed before it had a the chance to last or whether two people simple found each other before they were ready.

Cali Rd, share, “The song sits in that heartbreak of knowing something was real, even though it didn’t work out. Sometimes two people can fall in love and still not be meant to stay together. The Docks is about letting go of that hope, while still holding onto the thought that maybe, in another life, you would have got it right.”

Co-written by Cali Rd alongside Ben Oldland (Carla Wehbe, PASH, Rachael Fahim), who also produced the track, ‘The Docks’ blends the pair’s signature laid-back folk-pop with honest storytelling. The pared-back track features both Sam and Jack on guitar with Sam also adding banjo.

CALI RD NEW SINGLE ‘THE DOCKS’

IS OUT NOW ON ISLAND RECORDS AUSTRALIA

ABOUT CALI RD Cali Rd are brothers Sam and Jack Hunt, a Sydney-based folk-pop duo whose music blends honest storytelling, laid-back energy and soaring harmonies. Born in Adelaide and raised across Central Australia and Darwin, the brothers grew up surrounded by music, beginning lessons at the age of six while listening to classic rock and watching their father perform in country bands.

Their teenage years included time on a remote cattle farm near Alice Springs, where the isolation and vastness of the outback gave them space to sharpen their musicianship and develop their natural creative chemistry. They later moved to Darwin, continuing to write music while working in their respective trades – Jack as a carpenter and Sam as an electrician.

Now based in Sydney, Cali Rd draw inspiration from every part of their journey, from the red dirt and solitude of Central Australia and the dramatic storm skies of the Top End to the relaxed energy of life on the New South Wales coast. The duo have amassed more than one million followers across their social platforms, building a loyal global audience through their close harmonies, acoustic performances and original music.

Their releases have received praise from Off The Record with Isaiah, Reverie AU, Australian Music Scene, The Music and Aussie Music Shack, alongside support from Spotify and Apple Music. KSMBA drops ‘With You’ following triple j residency and major live milestones

Sydney born, Melbourne based producer, vocalist and DJ KSMBA returns with ‘With You’, a deeply personal new single exploring vulnerability, intimacy and the power of genuine human connection. Co-written and co-produced with Ross James, aka upsidedownhead, the track marks a new chapter for an artist whose rise through Australia’s electronic music scene has been defined by musicality, emotional depth and a rapidly growing national profile.

‘With You’ arrives off the back of a major run of live activity for KSMBA, following M87 in Melbourne last weekend and Mode Festival in Sydney this weekend, as their profile continues to build across Australia’s electronic music scene. The track marks a significant moment for KSMBA, who was triple j’s September Mix Up Resident, following the strong response to ‘Touch’, which received a triple j first play on Home and Hosed.

“’With You’ is the resolution to ‘Touch’. I wanted to capture the strength, the lightness, and the bliss that comes from opening yourself up and allowing yourself to be truly seen and witnessed by another person.

While writing this song, I was reading Jia Tolentino’s brilliant book of essays ‘Trick Mirror’. It had me really thinking about the ways that we are encouraged to move through the world behind masks, to treat relationships as transactions and to see ourselves as projects to be endlessly optimised. In a culture increasingly shaped by technology, I truly believe genuine human connection has become more valuable than ever.

To me, With You is a reminder that intimacy isn’t something to fear, but something to protect. That allowing ourselves to be vulnerable, to be fully present with another person, isn’t a weakness, it is one of the most profoundly human things we can do.” KSMBA

That momentum has translated into major career milestones beyond radio, with KSMBA named Mixmag’s Artist to Watch for 2026, selected as a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist and appearing on the cover of 10 Magazine Australia’s Music Issue in collaboration with Chanel. Their growing profile has also seen them join Spin Artist Agency’s roster, alongside artists including Ninajirachi. Their live profile has also expanded rapidly, with performances at Beyond The Valley, Pitch Music & Arts, Let Them Eat Cake, Mardi Gras and Party in the Paddock, alongside a recent DJ set with Tame Impala at the F1 and support for international artists including Nooriyah.

KSMBA’s trajectory is underpinned by a rare musical foundation. A graduate of London’s Royal College of Music, they spent more than 13 years in formal musical training before transitioning from classical saxophone into production and DJing. That background continues to shape a sound that moves between underground techno, atmospheric vocals and melodic intensity, balancing technical precision with a distinctly emotional approach to club music.

Since launching the KSMBA project in 2023, they have performed at some of Australia’s most respected clubs and festivals, including Pitch Music & Arts on the Resident Advisor stage, Beyond the Valley, Let Them Eat Cake, Intercell and A3 Festival, as well as venues including PICA, Miscellania, The Timber Yard and Club 77. Along the way, they have shared stages with Mall Grab, Effy, Kettama and Sim0ne, further establishing their position within the country’s evolving electronic scene.

With further collaborations in the works alongside Lucy Blomkamp, Motez, Lachlan Bostock of Mansionair, Ross James and Tentendo, as well as upcoming appearances at ADE 2026 and Mode 2026, KSMBA enters this next chapter with a growing audience and an increasingly distinctive voice.

‘With You’ captures the emotional evolution of an artist continuing to push the boundaries between classical musicality, underground club culture and deeply personal songwriting.

Aussie Deathcore Titans TO THE GRAVE Release New Album, ‘Liberation Front’  via BLKIIBLK

Launch New Single, Limb From Lamb

TO THE GRAVE, the world’s preeminent vegan deathcore band, have proudly unleash their new album, ‘LIBERATION FRONT,’  via BLKIIBLK. Celebrating the release, the band also launches their new single, “LIMB FROM LAMB,” alongside a music video, available to view below.

On the new single, bassist Matt Clarke comments: “LIMB FROM LAMB was the song that probably changed the most in the recording process. Until it was done, I wasn’t sure it would even make the cut for the album. It really took Dane’s lyric arrangement and vocal delivery to make it shine. It’s a bit of a change of pace from the previous singles, this one is slow (for us), brooding and heavy”

“For the video we leaned heavily into the horror movie imagery. Our music and visuals have always been inspired by horror and this was a chance to be really obvious with one of our favourites. It’s always made sense for us to connect this kind of inspiration to the real-life horror we address in the lyrics.”

Since forming in 2010, TO THE GRAVE have become one of Australia’s most uncompromising heavy exports, earning acclaim for crushing releases including ‘Global Warning,’ ‘Epilogue,’ ‘Director’s Cuts,’ and 2024’s ‘Everyone’s a Murderer.’ Armed with a singular mission to confront animal cruelty and environmental destruction through some of modern metal’s most punishing deathcore, the Sydney outfit have forged a reputation for pairing unrelenting heaviness with fearless activism. Their live assault has taken them around the globe alongside Lorna Shore, Thy Art Is Murder, Shadow of Intent, Carnifex, Oceano, and more, with Revolver hailing them as “one of the country’s heaviest exports” and Distorted Sound calling them “one of the most intense, enthralling bands the genre can offer.”

Now, the band returns with ‘LIBERATION FRONT,’ their fifth album and BLKIIBLK debut, a statement of pure intent. Brutal and uncompromising in both sound and message, TO THE GRAVE transform their death metal-infused assault into a vehicle for activism, raging against animal cruelty and environmental destruction while delivering their most direct and fully realized work to date. From the breakdown-laden opener “MEAT THE HUMANS,”‘Liberation Front’ marks a ferocious return to the band’s deathcore roots. While recent releases leaned further into hardcore, the new album embraces deathcore at its most savage and relentless.

Evans comments about the album: “‘LIBERATION FRONT’ was born as a concept on tour last year in Australia after we decided we wanted to make the sequel to ‘Director’s Cuts.’ What came out was something between that and a more pissed off brother to ‘Everyone’s A Murderer.’ It’s got so many things I love about the band and a bit of everything pushed to 100 with a really bleak kind of aggression that’s just reaching for your throat the entire time. Very keen to play some of these songs live and it’s an exciting chapter to add.”

ATOMIC ENTOURAGE  TURN UP THE HEAT WITH NEW SINGLE ‘SOMEDAY’

BALLARAT ROCKERS UNLEASH A NEW TRACK BORN FROM CREATIVE BALLARAT’S BE HEAR NOW PROGRAM, WITH GUIDANCE FROM MAGIC DIRT’S RAUL SANZCHEZ

Ballarat four-piece Atomic Entourage are turning up the volume with the release of their brand-new single ‘Someday’, out Wednesday 14 October.

LISTEN & DOWNLOAD ‘SOMEDAY’

Recorded, produced and mastered at Sunny South Studio in Ballarat, ‘Someday’ is the latest chapter for a band whose sound is built on big guitars, catchy hooks and the raw energy of a great rock ’n’ roll show.

The single was developed through Creative Ballarat’s Be Hear Now program, an initiative supporting and developing Ballarat-based musicians and giving local artists the opportunity to create, build industry knowledge, record and release new work.

For Atomic Entourage, the program provided the perfect opportunity to capture their sound in their hometown, bringing together the band’s high-energy live spirit with the expertise and facilities of Sunny South Studio, led by producer Sam Boon.

“We’re stoked to have had the opportunity to record ‘Someday’ right here in Ballarat through the Be Hear Now program,” says Atomic Entourage. “It’s a track that really captures what we’re about… big riffs, big energy and a whole lot of fun.”

A particularly significant part of the Be Hear Now program has been the opportunity for Atomic Entourage to work with Raul Sanchez, guitarist and founding member of influential Australian rock band Magic Dirt, as their mentor.

For a band made up of four friends who have grown up together, Sanchez brought both industry experience and perspective to the group while respecting the creative chemistry that sits at the heart of Atomic Entourage.

Forming in Ballarat, Atomic Entourage have developed a sound that blends the sun-drenched swagger of surf rock with the grit and attitude of classic Australian pub rock. Drawing inspiration from the rock legends of the ’80s alongside modern surf-rock influences, the band delivers a sound that is powerful, raw and unmistakably their own.

And while the recordings pack a punch, Atomic Entourage have built their reputation on stage.

Fresh from headline shows across Ballarat, Melbourne, the Great Ocean Road, the Sunshine Coast, Adelaide and Townsville, the band has been steadily building a loyal following stretching along Australia’s east coast and beyond.

With ripping guitar solos, infectious hooks and a live show that hits you right in the chest, Atomic Entourage are a band made for loud rooms, sweaty dancefloors and summer nights.

Now, with ‘Someday’, they’re bringing that energy into the studio — and back out to listeners across Australia.

‘Someday’ by Atomic Entourage is out on Wednesday 14 October 2026 and will be available on all streaming platforms.

JACK RAYMOND ‘MR KNOW IT ALL’ (ALBUM)

Australian folk, roots and blues songwriter Jack Raymond  releases his second studio album, Mr. Know It All,  bringing together a collection of songs about family, addiction, relationships, old stories, uncomfortable truths and the strange ways we all try to make sense of the lives we’re living.

It’s an album Raymond has taken his time with. Where his first record The Long Story Short was made while he was still finding his feet in the studio, Mr. Know It All came together very differently. The songs were given time to grow before Raymond and producer Ryan Tracey locked themselves away at Scribble Gum Farm on the Sunshine Coast for three weeks and pulled them apart again.

The result is bigger, darker and more adventurous, but the stories are still at the centre of everything.

“I think this album is probably the closest I’ve got to actually sounding like myself,” Raymond says. “We weren’t in a rush. Ryan and I had time to muck around, get things wrong, try different sounds and work out what each song actually needed rather than just throwing everything at it.”

Electric guitars sit alongside acoustic instruments, haunting pads and small sonic details that come and go throughout the record, giving Raymond’s folk and blues foundations a much wider landscape to live in.

The album was produced and engineered by Ryan Tracey, with Dancing in Glory produced and engineered by JB Paterson. The record was mixed by Angus Woodhead at Glasshouse Studios and mastered by Paul Blakey at 12th & Vine Post.

At the centre of it all is Mr. Know It All, a character Raymond created while trying to make sense of the imbalance he saw around him. He isn’t exactly a hero. He’s not particularly polite either. Instead, he became a way of levelling the playing field between the bloke on the street and the bloke in the penthouse.

That character doesn’t necessarily appear literally in every song, but his questions run through the album: How much of our lives do we actually choose? What do we inherit? What do we carry? What should we let go of? And how do we look after each other a little better?

Those questions take the record into some deeply personal places. Hollow Trees looks back at Raymond’s childhood in Victoria’s High Country, where a row of Paulownia trees planted by his parents grew alongside him before beginning to collapse around the same time his parents’ marriage did. Prisoner started as a song written for a friend struggling with addiction before Raymond eventually realised he’d written a fair bit of himself into it.

Ships in the Night comes directly from Raymond’s relationship and the reality of two people chasing very different working lives while trying to build the same future. Break the Mould is a push against living on autopilot and accepting a life simply because it’s the one that seems easiest or most expected. Carpe Diem asks the opposite question: what happens if we stop chasing the next thing for five minutes and actually notice where we are?

Elsewhere, Dancing in Glory looks at inherited beliefs and the freedom to question what previous generations handed down, while Run Yandina Run turns towards the history held in the Australian landscape and the importance of keeping difficult stories alive rather than allowing them to quietly disappear.

Together, they’re different stories, but they’re all wrestling with much the same thing: people. People getting things wrong. People trying again. Families that aren’t perfect. Relationships stretched by life. The habits we hide behind. The stories buried in the places we live. And the possibility that, with a bit of honesty, we might be able to do things differently.

“I don’t think I realised how connected all of these songs were until we had the record sitting in front of us,” Raymond says. “They’re all about people trying to work something out. I definitely don’t have the answers. That’s probably why the album ended up being called Mr. Know It All.”

The album arrives after a year that has taken Raymond from the Kimberley to Kings Canyon and back across Australia, continuing the kind of touring that has become central to his music: regional towns, community halls, folk festivals and listening rooms where the story matters as much as the song.

That grassroots connection is already carrying into the new record. Hundreds of physical copies of Mr. Know It All have been sold ahead of its official release, giving the independent album a strong start before it reaches streaming platforms.

Raymond will bring the album to the stage across September and October with a run of intimate launch shows before undertaking a much larger Australian tour from January through March 2027.

The shows continue the world Raymond has been building around what he calls Mountain Roots: folk storytelling, blues grit and songs shaped by the mountains, roads, people and places he’s encountered along the way.

After years of figuring out exactly what that means, Mr. Know It All might be the clearest answer yet.

Not because Jack Raymond suddenly knows it all. Quite the opposite.

WALLS OF JERICHO Legendary Hardcore Force Unleash Incendiary New Single “True Til’ Death”

New Album System Error: Humanity drops November 13, 2026

Detroit metalcore legends WALLS OF JERICHO are currently preparing to unleash their first new record in a decade, System Error: Humanity, out November 13, 2026. Following the release of their explosive comeback single “The Ascent” and its righteous follow-up “Agency”, they today offer the thrash-laden pit bomb “True Til’ Death”. Kicking off the record with menacing cymbal crashes and pummeling kicks, frontwoman Candace Buckingham roars gospel about the eroding nature of rage, and how what once felt motivational now feels apathetic, exploring what strength is necessary to persevere through such a defeating transformation.

Frontwoman Candace Buckingham on “True Til’ Death”:

“‘True Til Death’ is about facing the inner turmoil that once served you as a way to survive, and learning to turn it into fuel. It’s choosing positive aggression over hopelessness, using that pain to keep fighting. Musically, it hits with heavy breakdowns and straightforward, driving hardcore riffs that carry that fight forward.”

Clobbering listeners out of the gate with “True Til’ Death”, the band affirms the triumph of their comeback with rabid aggression: iconic frontwoman Candace Buckingham immediately commands listeners with her gargantuan growls. The discordant violence of tracks like “The Ascent” and “Untouchable”, taps into something truly primal and kicks you back a reading level with their claustrophobic chord work, while more thrash-driven tracks like “The Flame” and “Agency”, take off at 100 miles per hour, plowing through a plethora of protein-packed riffage and solos. Lyrically, the band is stoking the flames of discontent, with tracks like “Agency”, “Borrowed Ground”, and “Last Judgement”, delivering empowering messages of reclamation, self-determination, and human rights, encouraging listeners to fight for a better world. The record also features a premier slew of guests, including Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe on “Broken Mouths Can’t Speak”, his beckoning howl joining Candace on a ferocious duel attack; and Guy Kozowyk of The Red Chord on “Humanity”, propelling the groove-laden pit starter into cataclysmic levels of chaos. After some more delicious violence, and a transcendent slow burn in the form of “A Brighter Fire”, “The Reckoning” finishes things off with an epic, catastrophic energy that is bookended with one of the album’s most punishing breakdowns, bound to send some unlucky concertgoers to the dentist.

Legendary producer and Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou (NAILS, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Code Orange, and Every Time I Die) is behind the boards, capturing the band’s ferocious live energy while maintaining a pristine presentation. Powerful, fierce, and stirring, WALLS OF JERICHO re-emerge with righteous purpose and brutal dedication; humanity may be the source of the system error, but we are the system, and we are the solution.

KONVENT Danish Extreme Metal Witches Release New Album’s Title Track, “Firesky”

Brave, New Album, Firesky, Set for November 6, 2026 via Napalm Records

Danish death doom band KONVENT shares the second single and title track from their upcoming third album, Firesky, out November 6, 2026 via Napalm Records. The new song shows the four women’s versatility by highlighting both their ability to open up pitch-black abysses as well as weave in clean passages that shine through the cloudy heaviness like the fire in its name. Following a tour with shooting stars Zeal & Ardor as well as shows at Wacken and Copenhell, Firesky is KONVENT’s bravest album yet.

Embellishing their compositions, five songs is all it takes this time around to prove how incomparably weighty KONVENT’s sonic soundscapes can be. Firesky’s tracks are significantly longer than what KONVENT have offered before, but the dynamics within the dark arrangements prove the extraordinary commitment to their craft. Previously leaving their mark on the death doom scene, the band now expands on their influences and experiments significantly with black metal. They say the third album makes it or breaks it – KONVENT, however, manage to fully reconstruct the principle itself.

KONVENT about the new single “Firesky”:

“‘Firesky’ is a celebration of female and queer communities lifting each other up in a world of adversity and burning down every deep-rooted threat to our existence. Joining us on ‘Firesky’ is Mai Soon Young Øvlisen of Meejah.”

Watch the official music video for “Firesky”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4xgAgFfMr8

Constructed carefully, Firesky serves as both the atmospheric journey into the darkest depths of the soul and the guide out of the abyss. The Danish band goes to great lengths – literally and figuratively – to reshape the strong footprint they have already left in the scene.

KONVENT about Firesky: “After four years, we are finally ready to release our third album, Firesky, as our most ambitious album yet. On this album we have experimented more with black metal, as it is a genre we are all very inspired by. Lyrically it has been impossible for us to ignore the political state of the world, and we have found it imperative to comment on the active decisions to withdraw basic human rights for women and LGBTQ people. Firesky is a screaming desire to burn everything down and to create a more solidary and empathic world.”

Get your copy of Firesky lnk.to/Konvent-Firesky/napalmrecords

“Exorcise” kicks the album off as a mission statement. Slow and brutal, it opens up the gates to doom metal’s very core – only to explode in its last third, proving early on that KONVENT have their new path well thought out. Carefully built-up tension releases through Rikke Emilie List’s sublime screams, contrasting previous gutturals. Following, “Scorning” constructs an equally suspenseful atmosphere. Gentle drums and guitars pave the way for deep vocals, both becoming more diverse as time passes. In a fast-paced world, KONVENT offer an escape by letting their melodies breathe. Though slow and with its tracks all set around the 10-minute mark, Firesky feels interesting as the four women use their skills to build poignant musical themes. Where delicate guitars almost make the second song feel light, “Into The Unknown” steers the quartet back into shadowy realms. Sitting at roughly 12 minutes, the album’s longest song is a masterclass in diverse, progressive songwriting within the extreme metal field. The title track, “Firesky”, stands out through clean passages shining through the cloudy heaviness like the fire in its name. Seamlessly blending into the previous track, “Postludium” closes the album as an instrumental outro.

WIZARDTHRONE Michael Barber Leaves GLORYHAMMER to Lead WIZARDTHRONE Full-Time!

New Track, “Death Cycles”, Out Now | Watch the Lyric Video

After a decade with GLORYHAMMER, multi-instrumentalist visionary Michael Barber has announced his departure from the band to focus on WIZARDTHRONE. With a completed lineup, new music, and the project’s first-ever live shows on the horizon, Barber is making the shift official. The band’s current lineup features Michael Barber on vocals and guitar, Matthew Bell (Forlorn Citadel) on guitar, Keiran Allen (Akercocke) on bass, Christopher Bowes (ALESTORM) on keyboards, and Isak Olsson (TWILIGHT FORCE) on drums.

The announcement arrives alongside “Death Cycles”, WIZARDTHRONE’s first new track since 2021’s Hypercube Necrodimensions. Barber has moved to both lead vocals and guitar for the release, which was mixed by Dave Otero (Archspire, Shadow of Intent) and features artwork from Dan Goldsworthy, who also designed the band’s debut album.

Watch the lyric video for “Death Cycles”

https://youtu.be/yqdkjMS-h2A

WIZARDTHRONE remains true to its self-described “extreme wizard metal” roots, but “Death Cycles” carries noticeably more weight than what came before. The track pushes into melodic death, black, and even power metal territory – drawing on influences like Children of Bodom, Dissection, and Wintersun – while taking the sound to darker places, built around winding riffs, relentless drums, and razor-sharp leads. The result trades the project’s earlier mathematical chaos for something heavier and more direct.

Lyrically, the song imagines a collapse of timelines, wherein an alien entity compresses every possible version of existence into a single point. Barber wrote the piece in response to the last few years of his own life; burnout, grief and the endless passage of time become inescapable cosmic horror.

Barber explains:

“Ever since Hypercube Necrodimensions came out in 2021, I couldn’t stop thinking about writing more music and getting WIZARDTHRONE on stage. The ideas stacked up between other tours until it was obvious: this had to be my number one focus. ‘Death Cycles’ is everything I am as a musician right now, and I can’t wait to share it – we locked in Dave at Flatline Audio for the mix and he really unleashed the energy from the recordings. Dan’s art perfectly matches the emotional desolation of the lyrics, and most importantly, this single captures the first performance of the new lineup: Isak and Keiran, two of the best musicians I know, alongside my long-standing songwriting partners Chris and Matt. More new music is in the works right now, and we’re finally ready to play live, starting in my hometown of London this November, at the very venue where it all began for me.”

HIPPIE DEATH CULT Portland Heavy Rock Power Trio Drops “Blood, Grit & Bone”

Heavy rock power trio and recent Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records signees, HIPPIE DEATH CULT,  are pleased to present their new stand-alone single, “Blood, Grit & Bone.” The song marks their first new studio output in three years.

The band comments, “‘Blood, Grit & Bone’ is a powerful, unapologetic statement of resilience—a fierce anthem of self-acceptance that celebrates the strength found in aging, the beauty of hard-earned scars, and defiant confidence in the face of societal judgment. Musically, the track traces the evolution of heavy music, building a bridge from ‘70s-infused, foundational grit to the high-velocity, percussive intensity of the thrash metal movement.”

HIPPIE DEATH CULT recently kicked off their tour through Europe and the United Kingdom. The journey commenced on September 30th and will run through October 30th. From there, the band will head back to the US to join the Corrosion Of Conformity and The Sword co-headlining tour. The two-week trek begins on November 2nd in Buffalo, New York and closes on November 19th in Pensacola, Florida. HIPPIE DEATH CULT will make their way back home with seven more headlining dates from November 21st in Houston, Texas through November 29th in Oakland, California.

HIPPIE DEATH CULT has steadily become one of the most exciting bands in the modern heavy music scene, pairing massive riffs, deep grooves, psychedelic textures, thoughtful lyricism, and hypnotizing melodies into a sound that feels both classic and contemporary. Formed in Portland, Oregon, the trio — guitarist Eddie Brnabic, vocalist/bassist Laura Phillips, and drummer Harry Silvers — has earned a reputation for delivering dynamic, emotionally charged songs and electrifying live performances that showcase their distinctive sound, transcending traditional genres and captivating fans worldwide.

Since their early releases with Cursed Tongue Records and Heavy Psych Sounds Records, the band has built significant momentum. Their 2019 debut album, 111, and its 2021 follow-up, Circle Of Days, received strong praise from critics and listeners alike, with both records topping the Doom Charts and numerous “Best Of” lists, solidifying HIPPIE DEATH CULT as a standout name in the underground scene.

Following these releases, the band’s evolution into a power trio marked a turning point, with Laura Phillips stepping into lead vocal duties and infusing even more identity and force into the group’s sound and chemistry. This progression came fully into focus on Helichrysum, the band’s first full-length studio album featuring Phillips on lead vocals. Dan Reed commented: “The new Single ‘Gonna Raise Hell’ is a straight up invitation to give a hundred and ten percent to everything you put your mind to… from the obvious of partying into the night, but also to romance, to celebration, even to whatever your passion is for in life… and accept that sometimes what we believe are angels in our lives come with a dark side, and sometimes the people we have hatred for may be in our path to bring us insight and wisdom. So let’s raise hell together… starting with tonight… see what tomorrow brings!”

Shogun Mojo is the explosive new rock collective masterminded by legendary guitarist Tommy Thayer (KISS, Black ’N Blue) and acclaimed vocalist Dan Reed (Dan Reed Network), uniting decades of arena rock legacy, musical innovation and pure rock’n’roll spirit.

Backed by an exceptionally tight lineup featuring drummer Robert Ikiz and bassist Bengt Jonasson, the band delivers a debut album packed with towering hooks, driving energy and electrifying performances.

Tommy Thayer commented on the record, by saying: “I’ve always loved doing projects like this because they give me a chance to step outside of my usual world and just create, play guitar and have fun making music. Dan and I go back a long way, and it’s been great getting to know Bengt and Ikiz over the past year and discovering the chemistry we have together. Shogun Mojo really came from that shared energy, getting in a room, playing, writing and seeing where it took us. There’s a great spirit and camaraderie in this band that comes through in the music, and I’m excited for people to finally hear what we’ve created together.”

“This debut album is a reflection of all the rock records both Tommy, Bengt, Ikiz and I grew up listening to! Even Brion James from my band Dan Reed Network has a co-write on the album called ‘Funk Party’! What we captured in the studio is playing live together like bands did in the 70s, and the outcome is a record that’s groovy, rowdy funk rock celebration of life. At least that was the goal”, added Dan Reed. “In a world of AI music, we took it back to the roots of having fun writing in a room together and recording in a room together. We hope you feel what we attempted to capture. We are often told ‘People don’t want to hear guitar solos anymore’… so Tommy has a guitar solo in every song!”

Musically, Shogun Mojo channel the infectious melodic punch of classic late ’70s and early ’80s hard rock, blending the anthemic spirit of KISS with the soulful intensity and unmistakable swagger of Dan Reed’s vocal style. Fans of Dan Reed Network’s Slam will immediately connect with the album’s vibrant mix of massive choruses, funk-infused grooves and feel-good rock energy – but with a warmer, more organic and timeless sound that recalls the golden era of analog-driven rock records.

Raw, dynamic and unapologetically alive, Shogun Mojo’s debut is a celebration of big riffs, earworm melodies and the enduring power of classic hard rock reinvented for a new generation.
