DECLAN O’ROURKE RELEASES ‘ECHO’, THE FIRST SINGLE FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM ‘OCEANIC’
Featured in Australian feature film Almost With You, premiering at Galway Film Fleadh on 9 July
Ahead of the release of his eighth studio album Oceanic this October, acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter Declan O’Rourke unveils lead single Echo. The single offers a first glimpse of the forthcoming album which draws on O’Rourke’s long-standing connection to Australia, and reflects a life lived across two continents and hemispheres. Produced by O’Rourke and longtime friend and collaborator Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil), Echo features Moginie on electric guitars, and Nick Seymour (Crowded House) on bass.
Speaking on the release, O’Rourke says “The simple message of Echo is that what you send out into the world is what comes back to you. Jim and I wrote it fairly fast. But it became such a fun kind of beefy rocker as we recorded. I love how dynamic and robust it turned out to be.”
The single also features in the forthcoming Australian feature film Almost With You, which sees O’Rourke make his screen acting debut and receives its world premiere at Galway Film Fleadh next week on Thursday, 9th July. Written and directed by Irish-born Australian Adam Morris and set against the striking backdrop of Albany, Western Australia, the film is a lyrical portrait of resilience, the fragile beauty of second chances and the meaning and purpose of music. The accompanying music video for Echo offers a first look at Almost With You, featuring scenes from the film.
The film features nine original songs written and performed by O’Rourke, including new single Echo. O’Rourke takes on the lead role of Brendan Kelly, an Irish musician at the end of a solo Australian tour, who finds himself in Albany with an uncharacteristic five days off. Deep in grief over the recent loss of his brother and musical partner, Kelly finds solace in the warmth and community spirit of the town, forming new connections through a shared love of music.
Oceanic , recorded in Sydney with Moginie as co-producer, marks a profound full-circle moment in O’Rourke’s life and career. Returning to Australia, where he first began recording songs as a teenager, O’Rourke has created a record shaped by place, memory and return.
Speaking on the album, O’Rourke explains: “Oceanic somehow wrote, and then made itself too.
I’ve always felt that being an artist is a process of stripping away layers of yourself to get to the core. If that’s true, then Oceanic is a collection of dreams that have surfaced on their own, from among the deepest of my own layers.”
Echo is available now on all streaming platforms. Oceanic will be released on 16 October.
The World Premiere of Almost With You takes place at Galway Film Fleadh on 9 July 2026, and will be included in the Australian Irish Film Festival which runs Nationally from October 08 – November 15 2026.

WREN AKROSE “I Choose My Name”
First Of 4 Singles To Be Released Across NAIDOC 2026
Singing Our Futures & Bad Apples have been holding onto some exciting new music from our 2025 Singing Our Futures artists, and there’s no better time to share it than during NAIDOC 2026!
Across the next 6 weeks we will release 4 singles, celebrating the creativity, talent and stories of our emerging First Nations artists. Kicking things off with Wren Arkose and their single ‘I Choose My Name’ out now.
Following their debut single ‘Bones’ released in May of 2025, one year later Wren Arkose has released their follow up single, ‘I Choose My Name’.
Wren Arkose is a singer-songwriter based in Melbourne, who grew up on Yagara Country. Since relocating to Wurundjeri country in 2016, Wren has become known for their ‘sad girl’ songs. Their music is a blend of folk, with undercurrents of dream-pop and alt-rock.
‘Bones’ was written during an actively difficult time in Wren’s life, and ‘I Choose My Name’ is the culmination of a rebuilt identity and a rectified sense of self. Produced and co-written with Bailey Judd, this new track tells the story of choosing to build a new life by stepping outside of cycles of addiction and rumination.
It serves as a refusal of accepting the templates we are given to model our lives off of. The song unpacks the non-linear process of healing, a major cornerstone of Wren’s music, and shines a light towards building the life they want to live outside of familiar patterns.
Listen to ‘I Choose My Name’ here.
& stay tuned for our 2nd single release from Singing Our Futures & Bad Apples…

TANYA GEORGE SHARES INFECTIOUS NEW SINGLE + VIDEO THE DEVIL + DEBUT FULL-LENGTH ALBUM CONTRAST DUE OUT JULY 29
Stepping closer to the long-awaited release of her debut full-length album, dynamic Melbourne electro-soul multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and award-winning performer Tanya George today unveils an infectious new single and music video The Devil, taken from her forthcoming LP Contrast, due out on July 29. And to celebrate her debut album’s release, Tanya will also christen Contrast live in action at a special hometown launch show at Wax Music Lounge on August 8.
A slinky blend of soul, indie, R&B and pop, brand new track The Devil buries a knowing wink on a foundation of laidback grooves, infectious melodies and hypnotic bounce. A self-aware ode to temptation, sliding from innocent wallflower to willing participant, The Devil balances percolating warmth and depth with a light-hearted spin on its underlying subject matter, helmed by Tanya’s effortless vocals.
“This is one of my favourite songs, and it’s become a real crowd favourite too. Hearing people sing it back to me at the top of their lungs is a special feeling, so I can’t wait for it to finally be out in the world, and people can dance around their houses singing it,” shares Tanya. “The song weaves together a collection of experiences and observations. It’s about watching people navigate life through their vices, seeing struggles unfold in different cities, and witnessing those with wealth and power become entangled in things they probably shouldn’t. Temptation is everywhere; it doesn’t discriminate. I played around with the lyrics for a long time and even considered telling the story from a third-person perspective, beginning with “He was…” In the end, I chose a perspective that felt more immediate and honest, but that question stayed with me throughout the writing process and today.”
Produced by Tanya herself, along with additional producing from Lewis Pidutti and mastering courtesy of Lachlan Carrick, The Devil also arrives today with an accompanying music video, filmed by Brandon Li Wan Po, aimed to spark a conversation behind the message of the song with a formidable band, including Swinthin Anthony Oliver (Jessica Mauboy) on bass guitar, Liam Conroy on keys, Leon Kechayas (Emmanuel Kelly, Reece Mastin) on drums and Jesse Bear (Miguel, Bilal, Solange Knowles) on guitar.
Lifted from her forthcoming debut full-length, Contrast, The Devil joins the 10 tracks that make up the album. Dazzling with elements of soul, R&B, neo soul and pop, rooted in the lineage of Sade, Erykah Badu, Jamiroquai and Amy Winehouse, it was also fittingly 10 years ago that Tanya first began writing the 10 songs that would ultimately become Contrast, with many of the record’s songs penned in her soon to be 90-year old Dutch Oma’s (grandma) home. With the album’s release date also coinciding with her Oma’s 90th birthday, Contrast in fact opens with Oma’s Contrast Intro, a musing spoken word introduction from Tanya’s beloved Oma. And it is this resounding embracing of juxtaposition that powerfully permeates Contrast from start to finish, from the charming upbeat jaunt of Serious through to effortless bounce (Unjust Things), suave and undulating charisma (The Devil), powerful R&B-hued ruminations (Piece of Mess), and sumptuous odes to matters of the heart (Can’t Love Anymore). In its latter half, Contrast nods to its opener with Oma’s Interlude; another poignant spoken word outing from Tanya’s Oma once again that touches on the mysteries of time, before shimmering with acoustic simplicity and buoyant melodies (Have You), silky smooth grooves laden with affable beats (No Soul), and ultimately closing out on Daffodils & Violet Skies, with its swooning melodies and lush arrangement balanced alongside the addition of fellow Melbourne artist Blush’ko.
An album that spanned relationships ending, savings running out, “producers not getting it”, Tanya adds, as well as a pandemic and a long, quiet stretch of finishing proceedings alone in 2023, the upcoming release of Contrast showcases, celebrates and unpacks the many contrasts in Tanya’s own life, while also forming a universal album that is as versatile as its namesake, while also offering a cohesive body of work from a truly gifted and resonant artist.
“A part of my brain is always asking, Have I done enough? Is this the right time? Is this the right release date?” shares Tanya of her upcoming album. “But an even bigger part of me says, Who cares? It’s time to share it with the world. There will never be a perfect moment, and in many ways, this feels exactly like the right one.”
“I actually finished the album back in 2023,” Tanya adds, “but after pouring everything I had into creating it as an independent artist, I was completely exhausted. I needed some space to step away, recharge, and come back to it with fresh eyes (and a little more energy!). I played shows in Europe and really found myself. Now, I’m more than ready. I feel genuinely excited, and I know I’ll have such a deep sense of fulfilment finally sharing these songs with the world. When I was 21, I promised myself I would make this album with these songs. It has taken longer than I imagined and demanded more resilience than I ever expected, but I’m incredibly proud that I’ve kept that promise to myself. That means just as much to me as the music itself.”
Armed with a unique blend of soul, jazz and electro tones and a 4.5 octave vocal range, Tanya George’s innovative style colourfully reflects her upbringing in St Kilda, Melbourne’s bustling arts and entertainment hub. Sharpening her craft in the iconic Bourke Street busking scene in Melbourne, she evolved into a gifted vocal looper, expanding her distinctive and dynamic vocal looping setup into a core part of her sound. Tanya’s electro-soul flair saw her reach the Top 5 on The Voice Australia (Season 10, 2021) as part of Team Rita Ora, place 4th overall at the prestigious Gwangju Busking World Cup in South Korea in 2023, win 2022’s Buskers By The Lake competition, win the 2018 Queenscliff Music Festival Busking Competition and also receive the Alex Legg Memorial Foundation Scholarship Award in 2020. Releasing her debut solo EP Sonder in 2018, Tanya followed up with a 2020 EP, Normality, and also released a standalone single Welcome as part of the Melbourne Music Week and Metro Tunnel Project ‘Home Made Sound’ initiative.
A consummate and magnetic live performer, Tanya has previously performed at the likes of St Kilda Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Womadelaide and Queenscliff Music Festival, and will officially launch her new album Contrast live in action next month with a special hometown show on Saturday 8 August at Wax Music Lounge in Melbourne. Boasting a six-piece band, including Tanya on vocals, Stella Anning on guitar, Selene Messinis on keys and piano, Liam Powell on bass, Kane Watts on drums and Will Larsen on saxophone, this special performance will offer Tanya, her incredible band and fans a chance to come together and christen Contrast in spectacular fashion.
“A Tanya George show is like one big hug,” Tanya says, “it’s a place to laugh, move your body, connect, and have a great time together. In fact, a few people have actually met the loves of their lives at my shows, so apparently I’m Cupid too! They’re all still together, which I like to take as a good sign.”
“The six piece band will be the highlight and we are adding saxophone,” Tanya continues. “We have 3 females in the band. I’ll be sharing a little of my solo vocal looping throughout the night, but the heart of the show will be a beautifully elevated live version of the album. To top it all off, Wax Music Lounge will be completely transformed into Tanya World for one very special evening with new merch and vinyl.”
The Devil is out today.
Contrast is due out on July 29, vinyl available to preorder here.

NATHAN COUTTS Unspools A Cinematic Tale On Introspective Single ‘Movie Star’ Ahead of Debut Album
Single Out Now | Album Out Friday, July 31
As if it were a scene replaying through the flicker of an old projector, Nathan Coutts returns with ‘Movie Star’, a brooding and contemplative new single out now. Arriving ahead of his debut album ‘The Ordinary Instant’ (Out Friday, July 31), the track continues a story shaped by love, chance and reflection.
For the unfamiliar, Nathan Coutts is a Naarm/Melbourne-based singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer, and engineer whose music career brings forth a unique blend of alternative folk, soul, and R&B, creating an artistic vision that is honest and true to Coutts’ sound.
Summoning the feeling of disconnection, ‘Movie Star’ explores the pressures of outside influences creeping into a relationship, implying that others might know more about your situation than you do. Playing out like a slow-burning film scene, the track reflects that unease through a solemn, melancholic undercurrent that lingers beneath its vintage warmth and grainy atmosphere.
Blending classic R&B influences with Southern Gothic motifs, the track is framed by a laid-back beat and anchored by a prominent bass line, unfolding through layers of overdriven guitar and textured production. Distorted vocals drift through the arrangement like scenes flickering from an old reel of film, reinforcing the song’s melancholic themes of yearning, reflection and escapism.
‘Movie Star’ is born from the ashes of a life-changing adventure fuelled by romance and self-exploration across the southern half of the United States. Following an unexpected encounter, both the single and Coutts’ forthcoming debut album, ‘The Ordinary Instant’, trace the story of two people navigating their relationship and the influence of the world and the people around them – grappling with self-doubt, uncertainty, change, and reflection. Speaking on the album, Coutts shares:
“The Ordinary Instant and its ten songs were born out of a road trip across the United States with a lover, exploring the little moments that change your life “fast”, as Joan Didion wrote in The Year of Magical Thinking, the inspiration for the album’s title.
This is the story I was made to tell. The story I wanted to be a character in as a child. A story full of moments that feel impossible to dismiss as coincidence. The kind of story that is stranger than fiction, because these strange things happen all the time.”
A liminal tug-of-war between reason and emotion, ‘Movie Star’ is the prelude to inevitable miscommunication, and the irony of predestined misalignment that everyone but yourself can see. Like another frame flickering across a worn film reel, it offers another chapter in the story of ‘The Ordinary Instant’ ahead of its release on Friday, July 31.

KAT GRETA Masks Grief In Shimmering New Single ‘Audacity’ & Accompanying Music Video
Melbourne/Naarm-based multi-instrumental artist Kat Greta returns with her new single ‘Audacity’, out Friday, July 3. A melodically driven indie-pop anthem, deceptively enveloped with an underswell of grief, ‘Audacity’ and its accompanying music video are anchored in mourning and bolstered by shimmering electronic textures.
Following the release of her debut EP in November, which highlights Kat Greta’s unbridled pop-senses, ‘Audacity’ takes the pop dial and cranks it up to 10 with vibrant and energetic charisma.
Below the surface of ‘Audacity’s pop rhythm lies the complex feelings and multitudes of grief and acceptance. Written after experiencing immense loss, ‘Audacity’ is a track riddled with mourning and the battle of understanding – masquerading in dance vibrancy.
From the outset, Greta’s vocal distortion emulates speaking through a mask as one uncovers the bitter reality of the lyrics at hand. Accompanied by the instantaneous punch of the drums, high-spirited electronic elements and guitar, Greta’s distinctive artistry takes centre stage, embodying the confidence and conviction that sit at the heart of ‘Audacity’.
Co-produced by Melbourne producer Seetali Mack, this collaboration has allowed for Kat Greta to explore the themes and elements of the world around her unvaryingly as her own collapses in. The track brings light to the blatant absurdity of loss as the days roll in and out – remaining unchanged for the masses while Kat Greta is wondering how this could be. Kat Greta shares:
“‘Audacity’ explores the emotional whiplash of grief, where the world carries on as usual while yours quietly falls apart.”
Backed by the fast-paced neon-lights of Melbourne’s inner CBD, ‘Audacity’s accompanying music video – filmed and directed by Francis Biay – exudes a rapid and dizzy feeling as the video captures the feeling of life moving past. As Kat Greta is composed in the foreground’s juxtaposing stillness, the surrounds emulate a sense of wanderlust and liminality, in turn reflecting the thematic disconnect at the heart of the track.
Honest yet fun, ‘Audacity’ is a tarantella of emotion and vulnerability, adorned in sparkles and shimmering lights – made for those who want an introspective twist to their pop music. Come and ponder life in all its vibrancy, complexity, and ‘Audacity’, out now

DOLDER RELEASE NEW EP THIS IS HOW YOU SEE ME NOW
OUT NOW ON EMI. FEATURING ‘BONE STRUCTURE’, ‘SLEEPING PILLS’,
& NEW SINGLE ‘OCCASIONALLY’
Newcastle-based identical twin duo Dolder today release their sophomore EP, This Is How You See Me Now – a luminous five-track collection of wistful indie-pop threaded with rich harmonies, tender lyricism and a distinctly timeless charm. Blending folk-leaning melodies with intimate, confessional songwriting, the sisters craft songs that feel both deeply personal and warmly familiar, balancing soft-focus nostalgia with an effortlessly melodic warmth.
Following last year’s acclaimed debut The Motive, Dolder’s new offering showcases an even more assured and emotionally resonant sound, pairing intricate arrangements with a dreamy, cinematic glow. Recorded in New York with Oli Deakin – best known for producing CMAT’s Euro Country – This Is How You See Me Now is out now via EMI.
Featuring on the EP are the singles ‘Bone Structure’ and ‘Sleeping Pills’, as well as three brand new tracks, including focus song ‘Occasionally’. On ‘Occasionally,’ the twins’ clear, nostalgic vocals evoke a strong 1960s pop sensibility – simple yet richly melodic, with an emotionally direct delivery. Listen to the EP in full now via the link below:
LISTEN TO DOLDER THIS IS HOW YOU SEE ME NOW EP
Speaking about the release, Dolder – real names Dani and Zara, share “This is How You See Me Now is literally how you see us now. This group of songs is a mirror image of our writing over the last year and a jump forward in our journey from our last EP. These songs breathe how it feels to be an overly emotional, oversharing young woman in her twenties figuring out the swallowing feelings that come with all kinds of love. Old love, new love and unrequited love, the hurt, confusion, happiness and sleepless nights to say the least. We hope you find a part of yourself in these songs.”
With the release of The Motive at the end of last year, Dolder earned support from NME, Rolling Stone, Wonderland, The Line of Best Fit, and more, with critics praising their arresting harmonies and candid, heartfelt arrangements. They were subsequently named in the prestigious NME 100, cementing their status as ones to watch for the year ahead. Further support from BBC Radio 1 – including Maia Beth selecting ‘Bone Structure’ as her Future Bop – has only reinforced the sense of their rising momentum and impending breakthrough.
If there’s a special musical synergy that comes from growing up together – sharing experiences, discovering tastes in tandem, and learning to listen to each other – then the connection between Dani and Zara Dolder exists on an entirely different plane. They have been side by side since before they were even born, and now they bring that rare, intuitive harmony to the forefront with their new material.
Growing up, the twin sisters spent their childhood immersed in the timeless melodies of their forever inspirations – The Beatles, Eagles, and the world of Steely Dan and Glen Campbell that spun endlessly on their drummer father’s home jukebox. Now aged 21, they’re still as besotted by the old bands that shaped them, but they’ve also become devotees of modern female storytelling – from HAIM and Taylor Swift to Gracie Abrams, boygenius and Lola Young. And it’s into the sweet spot of these two ideas that Dolder, and their musically gorgeous, emotionally generous releases land.
In recent months, Dolder have performed a series of showcases at The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City, alongside touring with Ben Ellis and supporting Kingfishr at both of their sold-out O2 Academy Brixton shows, Beaux at The Garage, and Áine Deane at Hoxton Hall in London. They just completed a tour with Benjamin Steer across Germany, the UK and Ireland, with news of forthcoming live dates to follow soon.

KAMELOT Unveil Triumphant New Single “Ashen World” (feat. Ignacia Fernández)
Dark Asylum Out August 28, 2026 via Napalm Records
Recently, international symphonic metal legends KAMELOT announced their haunting new album Dark Asylum, arriving August 28, 2026 via Napalm Records. Today, they give fans their first peek into the twisting hallways of RavenHill Asylum with “Ashen World”, a triumphant, cinematic, and epic anthem.
From its very first note, “Ashen World” launches with unmistakable KAMELOT grandeur, propelled by founding guitarist Thomas Youngblood’s expressive lead work, soaring orchestration, and the rich symphonic arrangements that have become the band’s hallmark. The track embodies everything fans have come to love about KAMELOT; cinematic darkness, unforgettable melodies, and a towering anthemic chorus, while introducing fresh textures and unexpected twists that expand the band’s sonic landscape.
Thomas Youngblood on “Ashen World”: “‘Ashen World’ captures that moment of standing at the crossroads between darkness and hope, where the journey forward begins. It’s classic KAMELOT at its core, while opening new doors into the world of Dark Asylum.”
With countless dynamic shifts, vocalist Tommy Karevik showcases the full breadth of his remarkable range, effortlessly moving from intimate, haunting passages to his signature soaring power. Adding another layer of atmosphere, Decessus frontwoman and reigning Miss Chile Ignacia Fernández makes an ethereal vocal appearance that intertwines beautifully with the song’s haunting mood, as “Ashen World” tells the story of a world descending into darkness while never losing sight of hope, resilience, and redemption.
Tommy Karevik Adds About the Single: “It’s a deep dive into the topography of the human mind, exploring its valleys, peaks, and the void in between. It’s about breaking free from the limiting beliefs that hold us captive and creating a new reality that allows us to expand and realize our full potential.”

Pre-Order Your Copy Of Dark Asylum
lnk.to/Kamelot-DarkAsylum/napalmrecords
Set within a shadowed Neo Victorian-era world, Dark Asylum invites listeners beyond the gates of RavenHill Asylum—an imposing institution once built as a grand cathedral, now repurposed into a place where science, faith, and madness uneasily coexist.
KAMELOT pushes further into cinematic and atmospheric territory on Dark Asylum, diving deeper into theatrical darkness while preserving the signature hooks that define their sound. Candlelight trembles along towering arches and cold stone corridors as you are greeted familiar spectres: Avantasia mastermind Tobias Sammet, Eluveitie’s Lea-Sophie Fischer, Visions of Atlantis’s Clémentine Delauney, Decessus frontwoman and current reigning Miss World Chile champion Ignacia Fernández, Rannveig Sif Sigurðardóttir and Sólveig Sara Leupold, and Billy King! Identity fractures, reality bends, and control slips into unseen hands, guiding its central figure through a descent into psychological darkness that ultimately leads toward transformation… and perhaps sanctuary. From the cinematic sweep of “Ashen World” to the introspective depth of “Sanctuary”, and the layered mystique of “Ivy, My Dear”, Dark Asylum unfolds as a fully immersive journey, blending orchestral grandeur, haunting melodies, and theatrical storytelling into one cohesive vision.
Will you find sanctuary?
Or will you wander its halls for eternity?
Deepening the immersion of RavenHill, Dark Asylum will be released on a plethora of exciting platforms including standard gold, solid silver, and classic black vinyl editions, certified vinyl with the white label, white splatter, and blood filled variants, the latter of which are each paired with an official 24 page booklet! Multiple CD digipak available, with the 2 disc version including an instrumental version of the album, alongside cassette and digital options!
JACK GRAY Shares the title track from his forthcoming Debut Album Swimming In Jeans Out Fri September 11th
Pre-Order Now
Swimming In Jeans Tour 2026. Tickets On Sale Now. Sydney Show Sold Out
Following the announcement of his national album headline tour, Australian singer, songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist, Jack Gray shares today the title track from his forthcoming debut album Swimming In Jeans, out Fri Sept 11th on Island Records Australia.
The new single finds Jack at his rawest and most reflective, replaying a particularly poignant time with melancholic pedal steel balanced by honeyed vocal harmonies. The title itself could be a reference to pivotal night out, or someone struggling to stay afloat, or equally about the ones that pull us out of either. Whatever its meaning, ‘Swimming In Jeans’ is the beating heart of Jack Gray’s debut album.
For Jack, ‘Swimming In Jeans’ became the perfect metaphor for the last few years: moments of pushing forward, treading water and navigating uncertainty while still trying to keep his head above the surface. Sonically, the track mirrors that vulnerability. Built around a muted rubber bridge guitar and recorded with a sock dampening the strings, ‘Swimming In Jeans’ creates an intimate, submerged feeling that draws you in.
The release of the title track caps off a huge run for Jack. Fresh from a Philippines SEA Promo Tour where he performed live shows, connected with local fans and teamed up with top local creators, Jack then embarked on a massive Australian tour supporting UK Breakout Star Freya Skye meeting thousands of fans across all capital cities.
Recorded largely over the last 12 months from songs written across the last 3 years, the eagerly awaited Swimming In Jeans album came together in various studios in Australia and abroad. Produced and performed almost entirely by Jack, the record gave him the chance to refine and redefine his sound as a producer, one that he’s been working towards since first emerging as a solo artist.
While the sound of some of his early work was characterized by the thrill of learning new tricks and mastering new gear, for Swimming In Jeans Jack made a conscious move to pare things back to the essentials, allowing the sounds to shine, but only ever in service to the song. While a voracious student of all kinds of music, and with 2000s indie, pub rock and new wave all in the mix somewhere, Jack says, “with this record I just wanted to put the blinders on and trust my gut”.
‘Swimming In Jeans’ is the sixth single from Jack’s debut album and follows ‘Look At You’, ‘Tattoos’ (co-written with Peach PRC), ‘Drive Her Home’, ‘Bluffin’, and first single ‘Dumb Sh*t’. Together they’ve surpassed 1.5 million global streams, contributing to over 50 million streams across his catalogue.
Swimming In Jeans arrives Friday September 11th available across DSP’s, CD and as a stunning limited edition ‘wavy blue’ vinyl. Marking its arrival, the release will be supported by the Swimming In Jeans Album Tour launching in Auckland on September 4th before diving into shows in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, a sold-out Sydney show and finally Brisbane.

ABOUT JACK GRAY
Jack Gray is an Australian singer-songwriter whose music feels like the pivotal scene in a film just before everything changes—warm, impulsive, full of yearning, sharp turns, and the emotional clarity that only hindsight can bring.
Raised in Mackay, Queensland, in a musical family, Jack taught himself multiple instruments and began recording songs in high school. After six months at music school, he left to follow a self-driven path that’s taken him across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the U.S., South East Asia and Canada; touring with Tate McRae, Maren Morris, Jeremy Zucker, Daniel Seavey, Mahalia, Matt Corby, Maisie Peters, Ella Vos, Good Neighbours and most recently Freya Skye. He’s partnered with Pinterest for an intimate fan event, selected for the VEVO DSCR New Music Program and performed at Now & Next in London.
Now based in Los Angeles, Jack is a self-produced multi-instrumentalist with over 1.5M+ total streams across his recent single releases. In 2025, he signed with Island Records Australia with his long-awaited debut album, “Swimming In Jeans”, to be released September 11th 2026.
CHARLIE IVAN ANNOUNCES NATIONAL TOUR & SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘FAIT ACCOMPLI’ FROM THE NEW ALBUM, OF NOTHING, OUT FRIDAY 7 AUGUST VIA BEDROOM SUCK RECORDS
Alice Springs-based songwriter Charlie Ivan shares new single ‘Fait Accompli‘ and announces an Australian tour in support of his second album, Of Nothing, due Friday 7 August via Bedroom Suck Records. The tour will take Ivan and his band across the country with shows in Alice Springs, Thirroul, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Brisbane and Mapleton this August, supported by locals including Milly Strange, Ella Ion, Beryl and Hinano Fujisaki.
‘Fait Accompli‘ follows the release of June’s double single, the title track ‘Of Nothing’ and ‘I’m Tired’, providing another glimpse into the album’s expansive world. Recorded in Mparntwe Alice Springs on Arrernte Country with Dylan Young (Way Dynamic), Of Nothing follows Ivan’s 2024 debut, Where The Dogs Go To Die, drawing on years of songwriting shaped by the landscapes of Central and Western Australia.
On new single ‘Fait Accompli’, Ivan shares, “A kind of mash of words and anxieties that bubble away somewhere. Iterative lyrics – fragments from different times and notebooks. Some reckoning with futility which links a lot of the songs. Dylan Young, the producer, dropped the standard tuning on my Telecaster down a step and added the four-to-the-floor guitar harmonies.”
A deep connection to place remains central to the album’s identity. Rather than recording elsewhere, Ivan chose to make the record on Arrernte Country, where many of the songs were written and where their emotional landscape felt most at home. “The songs I’ve been doing for some time now always feel really grounded in the desert country.”
Musically, Of Nothing sits somewhere between alternative rock and desert-folk. The album carries the influence of songwriters such as Mark Lanegan, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and Sharon Van Etten, while remaining grounded in the desert country and the remote landscape on which it was written.
“It’s meant to feel like a car dropping into the low road, trying to escape a dust storm trailing in from the west. It’s meant to drive forward with a kind of quiet intensity. Some soft moments of longing and memory. A feeling that everything could collapse.”
At its core, Of Nothing is an album concerned with beauty found inside bleakness. Throughout the record, Ivan returns to recurring themes of longing, love, desperation and the strange futility that shadows everyday existence. It also represents a continuation of a lifelong relationship with songwriting. Ivan credits his mother, who is a songwriter herself, with introducing him to guitar and piano, and the music of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Sinéad O’Connor, Radiohead and Nick Cave, at an early age.
All songs on the album were recorded and produced by Dylan Young (Way Dynamic), who also played additional guitar and percussion, except for the album closer ‘Grease House’, which was produced and mixed by Michael Beach, who also contributed additional guitar. Mastered by James Trevascus, the resulting 11-track album is a collection of songs shaped by desert landscapes, long roads, literary ghosts, isolation, memory and impermanence.

CRAIG PAYNE – MOVED AND WELL SHAKEN – ALBUM
One hundred and thirty-one days after the release of his acclaimed eighth studio album, Moving & Shaking, New Zealand multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and recording artist Craig Payne is already deep into production on what promises to be his most ambitious project yet.
Released earlier this year, Moving & Shaking represented a significant creative leap for Payne. The album marked a departure from the style and sound of his previous releases, with greater emphasis placed on every stage of production—from songwriting and arrangement to recording, mixing and mastering. The result was an album that not only raised the bar artistically but also posed the question: Where does Craig Payne go from here?
At the time of the album’s release, Payne reflected on his creative journey:
“I’ve produced eight studio albums in the last five years, each with its own unique direction. If I’m going to make a ninth album, it has to be genuinely different—and that may take some time.”
Production has officially begun on Payne’s ninth studio album, introducing a fresh creative approach that is already setting it apart in every aspect of its development. As part of the process, Payne has transitioned from Steinberg’s recording platform to Pro Tools, the industry-standard digital audio workstation used throughout the professional music industry, providing expanded production capabilities and greater creative flexibility.
While details remain closely guarded, early development indicates that both the album title and its title track explore a concept unlike anything previously released. This unique direction is expected to give the project a distinctive identity while maximising discoverability across digital platforms when the album is released.
Craig Payne’s catalogue, including Moving & Shaking is available on major streaming and digital download platforms worldwide.

INTERPOL Unveil new single, ‘Iron City’
Taken from This Mirror Weighs a Ton Out Friday 28 August
Single out now via Partisan Records
Interpol have shared their latest single, ‘Iron City.’ The track is the third to be taken from their forthcoming album This Mirror Weighs a Ton, which arrives August 28 on Partisan Records.
‘Iron City’ finds Interpol channelling the tension between past and future that runs throughout This Mirror Weighs a Ton. Paul Banks’ lyrics move through recurring dreams and solitary moments in Central Park, all in conversation with a future consciousness that watches over humanity, blurring the line between creator and creation. The recurring refrain, “I can feel your love, iron city,” anchors the song amidst interlocking guitars, a propulsive rhythm section and atmospheric textures.
Produced by Andrew Wyatt (ROSALÍA, Charli xcx) and mixed by David Fridmann (Sleater-Kinney, MGMT), This Mirror Weighs a Ton expands Interpol’s sonic palette with the addition of strings, woodwinds, layered vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar and experimental sound design while maintaining the band’s signature rhythmic and melodic approach. The album was recorded at Wyatt’s studio on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, marking the band’s first time making a record in their original home base in over a decade.
The first two songs, ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’ and ‘See Out Loud,’ offer an entry point into the album’s world and arrived with praise from Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Pitchfork, NME, The Fader and more. While the former track is expansive and textural, pushing the band’s sound into new territory, the latter channels the sharp, propulsive energy of classic Interpol and features a rare vocal turn from Daniel Kessler.
Over the past two years, Interpol have remained in near-constant motion, headlining arenas and festivals across Europe, Latin America and Asia, with streaming at an all-time high and audiences continuing to grow worldwide. They recently played to more than 200,000 people at Mexico City’s Zócalo, and a new generation of listeners continues to discover the band.
Earlier this year, Interpol joined Deftones on their Australian tour, giving fans an early taste of the new album with live previews of ‘See Out Loud’ and ‘Wings on Fire’.

BOSTON MANOR SHARE DROWNED IN GOLD (ACOUSTIC)
10TH ANNIVERSARY OF DEBUT ALBUM BE NOTHING. OUT AUGUST 14 VIA PURE NOISE RECORDS
Boston Manor have shared an acoustic version of Be Nothing. track Drowned In Gold. The song appears on forthcoming reissue, the Be Nothing. 10 Year Anniversary edition which is released on 14th August via Pure Noise.
Originally released in 2016 on Pure Noise Records, Be Nothing. – produced by Neil Kennedy – became an immediate hit with critics and fans for its deft wielding of alternative sounds and powerful, emotional songwriting. Be Nothing. set the blueprint from which Boston Manor would become the borderless, innovative rock band that the are today, spawning three key singles in Laika, Lead Feet, and Fossa. On the Be Nothing. 10 Year Anniversary collection, a number of the album’s original tracks are given special acoustic reworkings including both Laika and Lead Feet, and the latest new offering Drowned In Gold.
Guitarist Mike Cunniff comments on the latest acoustic offering: “Drowned In Gold was a really important song for us. It was written and recorded as a stand alone single with Mike Sapone while we were demoing new songs for Welcome To The Neighbourhood. In my eyes it was the perfect transition from Be Nothing. to Welcome To The Neighbourhood and allowed us to become more experimental with our music.”
Hear Drowned In Gold (acoustic) on streaming services here and via YouTube below.
Commenting on the anniversary, bassist Dan Cunniff says: “For me; writing and recording Be Nothing. was one of the most exciting things we had done at that time. Doing the “band thing” for many years previous to Boston Manor, I’d always wanted to be involved in writing a full length record but never had the opportunity to do it properly. So by the time the opportunity came round, I felt like we were all hyper focused on what we wanted to achieve and also keeping in mind what this record would sound like in 10 years from that point. That being said; I think we achieved our goals with Be Nothing. because I believe this record holds up even today 10 years on. The record did more than we thought it would do for us. It opened up so many doors, especially in the touring world. Having the opportunity to travel all around the world because of one record is pretty insane!
Off the back of the release we announced Boston Manor’s first ever UK/EU headline tour (which we were shi**ing ourselves over btw) and to our amazement the shows all sold out. And I feel like at that point it was only the beginning for our band. be nothing. gave us the confidence that we can be a “real” band after all.”
The Be Nothing. 10 Year Anniversary edition will be available on CD and digital formats, as well as a number of very special vinyl variants.
Boston Manor will perform at Warped Tour later this month before embarking on a UK and US tour.

VENUES Rise Above With Empowering New Anthem ‘Becoming’
VENUES return with “Becoming”, an empowering modern metalcore anthem that transforms pain into strength, self doubt into confidence and personal growth into pure sonic force. Following the emotional depth of Solace and the band’s critically acclaimed latest album Transience, the Stuttgart outfit deliver one of their boldest and most uplifting statements to date.
Driven by punchy riffs, explosive rhythms and a polished modern production, “Becoming” balances raw intensity with soaring melody. Crushing screams embody the fight against insecurity and the weight of outside expectations, while the anthemic clean vocals erupt into a triumphant declaration of self worth. Every breakdown and chorus reinforces the song’s central message: true strength begins the moment you stop living for others and start believing in yourself.
Inspired by lyrics that tear down “social boundaries” and replace self doubt with self acceptance, “Becoming” follows the journey of someone breaking free from toxic influences, refusing to be defined by the past and finally embracing their own value. What begins as a battle against inner demons culminates in an unapologetic celebration of identity, ending with the powerful reminder that everyone deserves to see themselves as the miracle they truly are.
Since signing with Arising Empire, VENUES have established themselves as one of Germany’s most compelling modern metalcore acts. Their 2018 debut album Aspire was named Kerrang! Album of the Week, while subsequent releases have continued to showcase the band’s fearless evolution through the unmistakable interplay of Lela Gruber’s soaring melodies and Robin Baumann’s visceral screams. With Becoming, VENUES once again prove why they remain one of the genre’s most dynamic and emotionally resonant forces, seamlessly combining crushing heaviness, irresistible hooks and an empowering message that lingers long after the final note.

ICE SEALED EYES Reveal ‘Tape 1: Far Away’
Belgian atmospheric metalcore newcomers Ice Sealed Eyes mark the beginning of a new chapter with Tape 1: Far Away, their first release since signing with Arising Empire. More than just a four-song EP, the record unfolds as a carefully crafted emotional narrative, with opening track “Stay Still” seamlessly flowing into “To Realise” and “The Weight Of Loss”, forming one continuous musical journey through grief, isolation, betrayal and acceptance.
Built on shimmering ambience, crushing guitars, thunderous drums and soaring, emotionally charged vocals, Tape 1: Far Away explores the fragile space between holding on and letting go. The EP opens with “Stay Still”, where fading hope collides with overwhelming loss. Its lyrics capture two people trapped in separate emotional worlds, each witnessing the other’s collapse while remaining unable to bridge the growing distance between them. Themes of fear, longing and shared suffering are reflected in the band’s dynamic songwriting, balancing atmospheric calm with explosive heaviness.
Without pause, “To Realise” transforms the story into an almost hypnotic descent. Repetitive, ritualistic lyrics mirror the feeling of watching someone knowingly walk toward irreversible decisions, emphasizing helplessness as love and despair become inseparable. The tension built throughout the first two chapters finally erupts in “The Weight Of Loss”, where grief gives way to confrontation. Haunted by fading memories, broken trust and self-reflection, the closing chapter refuses empty apologies and instead embraces painful acceptance, bringing the emotional arc to its devastating conclusion.
Although each song stands confidently on its own, together they reveal the full vision behind Tape 1: Far Away: a cinematic listening experience where recurring melodies, evolving dynamics and interconnected themes reward listeners from beginning to end.
Already recognized as one of Belgium’s most promising emerging heavy acts, Ice Sealed Eyes have amassed millions of streams worldwide with their independent releases and steadily built an international fanbase. Following the success of their acclaimed debut album ALTAR, the band toured extensively across Europe, delivered a standout performance at Euroblast Festival, and shared stages with renowned acts including Falling In Reverse, Unprocessed, Amenra, Brutus, Resolve and Hypno5e. Now entering a new era with Arising Empire, Tape 1: Far Away perfectly captures the band’s signature fusion of cinematic atmosphere, crushing heaviness and deeply emotional storytelling. As both an ambitious conceptual release and an impressive introduction to their next chapter, the EP firmly establishes Ice Sealed Eyes as one of the most compelling new voices in modern atmospheric metalcore.

Aussie Deathcore Titans TO THE GRAVE New Album ‘Liberation Front’ Set for Release on Oct 2 via BLKIIBLK
Unleash New Single “NAIL MARY”
Touring Australia This September
To The Grave, the world’s preeminent vegan deathcore band, are proud to announce their BLKIIBLK debut album, ‘LIBERATION FRONT,’ set for release on October 2.
The announcement arrives alongside the band’s ferocious new single, “NAIL MARY,” and its official video, offering another glimpse into the album following the recent release of lead single “EYESTALK ABLATIONS.”
On the new single “NAIL MARY,” vocalist Dane Evans shares: “‘NAIL MARY’ is about how people use religion and god to justify all kinds of atrocities and proclaim dominion over animals. We’re holding a torch (or chainsaw) to any kind of god or follower that demands ritual slaughter with this one and nailing them to the walls.”

Since forming in 2010, TO THE GRAVE have become one of Australia’s most uncompromising heavy exports, earning acclaim for crushing releases including ‘Global Warning,’ ‘Epilogue,’ ‘Director’s Cuts,’ and 2024’s ‘Everyone’s a Murderer.’ Armed with a singular mission to confront animal cruelty and environmental destruction through some of modern metal’s most punishing deathcore, the Sydney outfit have forged a reputation for pairing unrelenting heaviness with fearless activism. Their live assault has taken them around the globe alongside Lorna Shore, Thy Art Is Murder, Shadow of Intent, Carnifex, Oceano, and more, with Revolver hailing them as “one of the country’s heaviest exports” and Distorted Sound calling them “one of the most intense, enthralling bands the genre can offer.”
Now, the band returns with ‘LIBERATION FRONT,’ their fifth album and BLKIIBLK debut, a statement of pure intent. Brutal and uncompromising in both sound and message, TO THE GRAVE transform their death metal-infused assault into a vehicle for activism, raging against animal cruelty and environmental destruction while delivering their most direct and fully realized work to date. From the breakdown-laden opener “MEAT THE HUMANS,”‘Liberation Front’ marks a ferocious return to the band’s deathcore roots. While recent releases leaned further into hardcore, the new album embraces deathcore at its most savage and relentless.
Evans comments about the album:
“‘LIBERATION FRONT’ was born as a concept on tour last year in Australia after we decided we wanted to make the sequel to ‘Director’s Cuts.’ What came out was something between that and a more pissed off brother to ‘Everyone’s A Murderer.’ It’s got so many things I love about the band and a bit of everything pushed to 100 with a really bleak kind of aggression that’s just reaching for your throat the entire time. Very keen to play some of these songs live and it’s an exciting chapter to add.”

HARLOTT Australian Thrash Titans To Unleash Exsequiis Full-Length On September 11 via Metal Blade Records
New Single, Trial By Liar, Out Now
Australian thrash titans will unleash their Exsequiis full-length on September 11th via Metal Blade Records!
It’s now 20 years since four teenagers from Melbourne assembled under the name HARLOTT – chosen largely because it would look good on a black T-shirt. After a scorching debut with Origin in 2013, the band carved their path through Proliferation (2015), Extinction (2017), and Detritus Of The Final Age (2020) sharpening their brand of breakneck, high-tension thrash with every release.
Now, after a six-year gap, Exsequiis marks the boldest leap forward in their career. Denser, harsher, and more confident than ever – a razor-sharp sound picture built on world-class guitar work, relentless momentum and lyrics that cast a jaundiced eye over our bitterly divided world. The death of the gods, delivered by thrash metal artisans in the prime of their lives.
“Detritus… was a great experience in digging out sounds and ideas that we would have been too trepidant to explore,” explains the band. “For Exsequiis, we went further into that, but with the confidence that it would work as it had done before.”
Examples of this confidence rain down from the outset, with intro “Incipiam” acting as a guitar fanfare of sumptuous melodies that would make Dave Murray green with envy, cueing the haywire carnage of “Void.” Blastbeats and trebly guitars add a black metallic intensity to “Messiah Simplex,” while the scampering riff patterns of “Vice Borne” give way to a mighty bouncing earworm of a chorus. This song, and many others, become a glittering showcase for the guitar solos of guitarist/vocalist Andrew Hudson and guitarist Leigh Bartley, another feature of the HARLOTT sound by now mastered to world class levels, a perfect blend of precision and spontaneity.
Lyrics remain in the depressingly real world, the band preferring not to embroider some supernatural phantasmagoria but instead casting a jaundiced eye over our bitterly divided current climate.
Comments the band on Exsequiis’ lead single, “Trial By Liar,” “Truth doesn’t appear to matter anymore and there aren’t any consequences for anything. There is a war on information raging and we yearn for the day when judgement is met on these perpetrators.”

PRONG Alternative Metal Legends to Unleash Their Napalm Records Debut
Self-titled Album will drop November 6, 2026
In their four decades of domination, New York alternative metal legends PRONG, have remained a respected force in the scene, gigging doggedly around the world—becoming mainstays at seminal festivals like Wacken and Brutal Assault—and unleashing a steady stream of classic albums dominating TV, radio, and streaming throughout their tenure.
Today, they announce their incendiary Napalm Records debut and mission statement, Prong, which will be unleashed unto the public on November 6, 2026. Honoring the band’s legacy, this new album packs 11 galvanizing haymakers, encompassing elements of industrial, thrash, alternative rock, and, of course, New York Hardcore.
About the album, frontman Tommy Victor said:
“This could be the best PRONG album to date. It’s definitely the best sounding PRONG album ever, with the incredible Andy Sneap mixing and mastering it! This record represents a new lease on life for PRONG with a new label, a fresh attitude with faster and heavier songs, bigger hooks and top-notch sound quality. That’s why it’s self-titled; it’s a redefining episode for PRONG!”
Of the plethora of legends born from the primordial ooze bubbling at New York’s most iconic punk club, CBGBs, there is only one PRONG. Forming during the venue’s late 80s renaissance period alongside hardcore legends like Gorilla Biscuits, Madball, Sick Of It All, and Biohazard, PRONG set themselves apart with melodic sensibility on formative records like Beg To Differ (1990) and Cleansing (1994), becoming mainstays on the iconic MTV’s “Headbangers Ball”. With their boundary pushing fusion of classic New York Hardcore, infectious grooves, and industrial textures PRONG laid the foundation for numerous styles of post-hardcore like groove metal, industrial metal, and crossover thrash.
Order Your Copy of Prong
lnk.to/Prong-Prong/napalmrecords
As the band’s mission statement, Prong incorporates the well of styles their legacy is built on. Blistering thrash sections, open into lush choruses on opening anthem “The Banner”, before somehow pushing the intensity even further on “New Commission”. “The Uprising” reintroduces the band’s industrial edge, weaponizing textured synths over a pulsating two-step, before “Uncertain Truth” flexes its melodic chops, offering a transcendently sweet hook. Immediately the band dropkicks listeners in the chest with the pummeling “Fear The Sun” inciting classic New York Hardcore pit violence. Iconic vocalist and guitarist Tommy Victor’s chops come out in full swing on “Proportionate Response”, a smoldering incitement of retaliatory justice, before the blistering kicks of “Simulated Drowning” propel us forward. Album closer “Our Continuance” brings things to a cataclysmic close with its menacingly methodical pulse and pummelingly discordant breakdowns, tied together with a lush chorus amplified with swelling synth textures.
With Andy Sneap at Backstage Studios for mixing and mastering, the album sounds crisp and punchy, Victor’s biting lyrics confrontational and infiltrating, driving listeners to contemplate complex matters like the validity of truth, self-inhibitors, and altruism. Dynamically bold, ideologically driven, and melodically infectious, Prong honors their legacy, reminding us why the band has had such a successful longevity.

This comprehensive live album, available even with a special Blu-ray, draws from NESTOR’s impressive repertoire of arena-worthy anthems and rock ballads, polished with the very best AOR and classic 80s rock influences. Without a doubt, NESTOR continue their steady mission to restore the glory of rock!
Vocalist Tobias Gustavsson comments:
“When I listen to Live at Gothenburg Film Studios it becomes clear to me that it shows everything that NESTOR was about, from the beginning. A live performance with all the little quirks and mistakes that makes it human, a thing that I have learned to love even more in an era of AI generated music. Live at Gothenburg Film Studios is less clinical and more of a human experience in comparison to our studio albums and shows a different side of NESTOR. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did recording it up on stage.”

D. HENRY FENTON ‘WALTZ AROUND THE TRUTH’ (SINGLE)
D. Henry Fenton releases, “Waltz Around the Truth” – the second single from his forthcoming new album, “ELVIS AMERICANO”.
“Waltz Around The Truth” tells the story of the time old a tale where someone gets lied to by another but pretends that everything is ok when it’s not.
The song is an up-tempo, country-tinged pop song co-written with Fenton’s old Holly Golightly bandmate, Bentley Rumble.
It was one of the first songs tracked for the new album that started life at Rogers Boat Studio in LA, with Fenton wanting to record two songs just to see how things might go, and to see if the songs were any good.
“I’d worked at Rogers Boat before, and had known Jorgen for a while, but we’d never worked on a record together with him producing, and I am really glad that happened”, says Fenton.
Produced and mixed in Los Angeles at Rogers Boat Studio by Jorgen Carlsson (Gov’t Mule/Chris Cornell) & Mastered by Leon Zervos at Studios 301 in Sydney, the track features Carlsson on Bass, Electric Guitar, Drums and Fender Rhodes while Fenton provided Mandolin and Acoustic Guitar and Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams) on Pedal Steel/Electric Guitar.
Carlsson’s production and mixing gives the song impact and authenticity with some memorable musical hooks provided by the three musicians. Fenton creates some interesting vocal moments while singing lead and overdubbed harmony.
“It really is an honour to have recorded Waltz Around The Truth with two musicians like Jorgen Carlsson and Doug Pettibone, who I hold in such high regard”.
The album’s title, “Elvis Americano”, comes from Fenton’s pseudonym when ordering his coffee – usually an Americano (a long black in Australian coffee language). It seemed fitting for the album’s distinct Americana/Folk/Pop sound. In true Fenton style, it’s his hauntingly beautiful melodies, lyrics and vocals that keep bringing fans back.
D. Henry Fenton – “Waltz Around The Truth” – is out Friday 19th June while the new album, “ELVIS AMERICANO”, is slated for release later this year.

Melbourne Alt Rock outfit MUNROE return with bittersweet new single ‘MY TIME’, announce forthcoming EP ‘SAID AND DONE’ out September 10
Melbourne 4-piece Munroe have today shared another piece of jangly, textured and vulnerable alt rock with their latest single ‘My Time’ – out today alongside the announcement of their forthcoming EP ‘Said And Done’ out September 10.
Following the release of previous EP single ‘Happening Again’ released earlier this year, ‘My Time’ shines as one of the bands strongest releases to date. Filled to the brim with sun-drenched earworms throughout the track, ‘My Time’ finds its strength through relatable, honest lyricism; a reflection of one’s conflicting inner monologue in the midst of a turbulent relationship.
“My Time” captures the quiet tension of a relationship sitting on the edge of resolution, where honesty is needed but not quite faced. Built around the refrain “I’ll call you in my time,” the track leans into the instinct to hold control, to delay the hard conversations even when both sides know they’re overdue.
There’s a push for fairness and understanding running underneath it, but it’s tangled up in hesitation and self-awareness. At its core, the song lives in that uncomfortable middle ground where you’re wanting to make things right while avoiding what it takes to get there, all the while knowing the moment of truth isn’t far off. “It’s about that space where you know something has to be said, but you’re not ready to say it yet,” lead singer Callum Riordan says of the song. “You tell yourself you’ll deal with it later, on your terms but deep down, you know you can’t keep pushing it away forever.”
CALLUM RIORDAN, MUNROE
‘My Time’, along with the rest of the EP, was recorded at Wick Studios in Brunswick – with Andre Johansson-Walder (The Goon Sax, The Comets) as a producer. On the recording process, frontman Callum Riordan explains “ we had everyone in the room together, which was a big part of how it came to life. There’s a certain tension you can’t fake when you’re all playing it through at the same time, reacting off each other, letting it breathe a bit. We wanted it to feel natural and a little unpredictable, like it could tip either way at any moment.”
Munroe have been bubbling away over the last few years, making a name for themselves within the Melbourne indie scene and beyond for their warm, endearing and emotionally charged performances. They’ve shared stages with the likes of Andy Golledge, John Floreani, Norwood & MT Nadir in their time; have appeared at festivals such as Queenscliff Music Festival; and have sold out multiple shows as a headline act in Melbourne, at venues such as The Gaso & Nighthawks. On the airwaves, the band have seen previous support from triple j, Unearthed, 4ZZZ, 2SER, PBS and RRR.
Their upcoming EP ‘Said And Done’ will feature 6 tracks, including previously released singles ‘Happening Again’ & ‘Spring’, set for release September 10th.

KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD ANNOUNCE DETAILS OF NEW ALBUM ALIEN METAL & SHARE NEW SINGLE/VIDEO ‘LEVEL 5’
+ PLAYING NEW YORK’S FOREST HILLS STADIUM & UNDER THE K BRIDGE SHOWS + THE RETURN OF THEIR SOLD-OUT FIELD OF VISION FESTIVAL THIS AUGUST
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have today announced details of their 28th album, Alien Metal, which will be released later this year via p(doom) Records, sharing the first single and video, ‘Level 5‘.
In keeping with their recent ‘rave shows’, including the free pop-up in Melbourne/Naarm which saw 10,000 fans descend on the iconic Fed Square, and following on from their 2023 album The Silver Cord, Alien Metal sees the ever shape-shifting Melbourne six-piece set the controls for the dark heart of electronic dance music.
Written and recorded on the modular synthesiser set-up which they took out on the road last year, and named ‘Nathan’ by the band, the track listing for Alien Metal is as follows:
Sapience
Alien Metal
Superheavy, Supercritical
Kill For The Steel
Level 5
Rapid Alpha Decay
Uqt
Atomic Collapse
The video for the first single ‘Level 5’, directed by Hayden Somerville, features a cameo by Vince Colosimo, known for his iconic roles in Chopper, Lantana, The Wog Boy and Underbelly, as well as appearances in The Great Gatsby, Daybreakers and Body of Lies. Producer Ruby Thomas shares, “Hayden had brought up Vince on numerous occasions when fantasising about casting for previous projects, but I had mostly laughed it off because it seemed impossible. But on this occasion it didn’t feel like such a crazy idea. We really wanted to find a strong, recognisable face to lead this clip, and in Australian cinema, Vince is all that and more. He was a dream to work with and brought so much more to the role than we could have imagined.”
Arguably one of the most exciting live bands on the planet right now, this August sees the return of their now SOLD OUT Field of Vision Festival and a run of three headline shows at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, ahead of which they play another ‘rave show’ in Brooklyn in July. Full list of dates here.
Never ones to musically stand still and following explorations of everything from prog-fringed thrash metal, primitive synth-rock, down-home jam-rock hoedowns and feelgood symphonic rock on recent albums, Alien Metal grew out of last year’s ‘rave shows’ where traditional instruments were abandoned as the band gathered around an expansive modular synthesiser setup each making their own manipulations to create a mind-altering whole. And what began as an experiment soon became an obsession, inspiring one of the band’s most ambitious records to date.
“It completely rewired my brain,” said Stu Mackenzie, having discovered the possibilities of the Eurorack synthesiser format on the recommendation of fellow band member and self-confessed ’techno head of the group’ Joey Walker. “I was like, ‘I’m going to forget everything I know about music and relearn it all from scratch’.”
The album was far from straightforward to make. Over the course of several years, the band scrapped countless recordings and abandoned entire creative directions while searching for the project’s identity. “We’ve never scrapped so much material as we have for this album,” Mackenzie says. “Entire albums, entire universes that were formulated, created, recorded, deleted and started again.”
The breakthrough finally arrived during a late-night improvisation session that stretched for more than an hour. That spontaneous jam became the foundation for the entire record, with every track on Alien Metal evolving from the same source performance.
The result is a seamless, ever-shifting journey through techno, hardcore, house and jungle influences, filtered through King Gizzard’s unmistakable psychedelic lens. Pulsing rhythms, distorted textures and unexpected twists collide across a record that feels both futuristic and uniquely their own.
“It sounds so crunchy, but also beautiful,” says Mackenzie. “Alien Metal goes really hard, but it also goes to really interesting places,” adds Joey Walker. “And it feels unique – it feels like us, still.”
