JEN MIZE & THE ROUGH N’ TUMBLE – GREATER GOOD’ (SINGLE)

Jen Mize & The Rough N’ Tumble’s new tune is a dose of feel-good medicine aiming to remind people there are responses to the feelings of helplessness and hopelessness experienced in these sorry times.

‘Greater Good’ is a call to the community to seek out friendship & understanding, to raise up kindness and compassion in all our interactions. ‘Greater Good’ asks ‘What happens if we try some patience and vulnerability? What happens when we look for the greater good?’

Starting with a simmering tremolo guitar, the groove hits and Mize comes out of the gate with a fearless and soulful first verse.  Delivered like those late 1960’s East Village beat poetry readings – a narrative encounter with a ‘good friend of mine’ who has all the worries of the world weighing on his mind, Jen is sharing her ear, ‘gettin’ in deep’ and something clicks and she says ‘Man, I think I know what you mean!’

Written by Mize and Jeremy Edwards, ‘Greater Good’ sees the Australian band taking some risks, both musically and walking-out-on-the-edge philosophically. ‘We don’t envision ourselves gurus by any stretch of the imagination.’ says Mize ‘We’re not here to preach to people or change their beliefs, we just hope that we can help people find a way to better get along, despite any differences they have.’

Laughing, she continues, We’re attempting to do our version of what Woody Guthrie said a folk singer’s job is ’To comfort disturbed people and to disturb comfortable people’ The Rough N’ Tumble’s ‘Greater Good’ is a rough-around-the-edges-2am-stoner-philosophy version of that – delivered with plenty of warmth and lashings of joy.

Following on from ‘Double Talk’, ‘Greater Good’ is the 2nd single from the band’s new album ‘Tilt’ – due out later this year.

MICHAEL G.JONES PAYS TRIBUTE ON NEW SINGLE ‘THEY DO US PROUD’

The opening verse of new heartfelt Australian single, ‘They Do Us Proud’ laments: “I’ll tell you something you don’t want to hear, I have to share my greatest fear, when he enlisted and swore to serve, we were living in a different world”.

On‘They Do Us Proud’, Australian country music singer-songwriter Michael G. Jones makes an impressive return to the radio airwaves on Friday 17th April, 2026.The song pays tribute to the men and women who bravely serve in the defence forces who are tasked with protecting their countries’ security and interests in times of global unrest and conflict. What makes this song even more poignant, is the fact that Jones’owns on serves in the military.

Jones explains:“Watching the news recently about wars in multiple places across the world, it reminded me of when my son informed me a few years ago that he was being posted to Afghanistan. He is in the RAAF and served a tour of duty in Kandahar”.

He continues:“When he gave me the news, my immediate reaction was feeling my heart rate rise and feeling sick in my stomach” Jones adds: “Seeing the escalation of fighting in various countries recently, I started getting the idea for this song. I hope it is viewed as a song of hope, sensitivity, love and pride-not only for my son, but for all of those brave people who are serving our country”.

HANNAH POTTER reflects on loss and growth on ‘Snow Day’. New single out now

Emerging Naarm/Melbourne artist Hannah Potter releases her deeply affecting new single ‘Snow Day’, an emotionally rich and unflinching reflection on loss, loneliness, and the gradual process of change. Honest to its core, the track offers listeners an intimate window into Potter’s lived experience, while inviting them to reflect on their own. Taking meditative guitar, sparse yet considered drums and a swelling string section, Potter’s vocal performance sits at the centre. Raw, restrained, and quietly  powerful, it imbues the track with a profound emotional depth.

Music in a variety of forms has always been central to Potter’s life. Raised in a household where sound was ever-present, from Nick Cave and Billie Holiday to Radiohead, Judy Garland, and Tom Waits, her artistic voice was shaped early by a vast and eclectic musical landscape. One formative memory stands out: hearing ‘Murder Ballads’ at the tender age of four and grappling with the darker edges of human nature. That early confrontation with emotional complexity continues to echo through her songwriting today.

Potter began playing music at 13 after discovering the song ‘Names’ from Cat Power’s ‘You Are Free’, a turning point that transformed her from passive listener to engaged creator. After years of experimentation, pauses, and persistence, honing her craft through open mic nights and support slots, she found her footing, eventually forming a band in 2024, marking a new chapter in her musical journey.

‘Snow Day’ captures a deeply personal narrative. “From about 10 to 24 I was completely numb physically and emotionally,” Potter explains. “I wanted to connect and feel things, but my system was basically frozen. Part of the song is about looking back and wishing I had had the ability to have shown up differently for people who had tried to love me in the past. But also, being happy now that I’m not the person I used to be. I suppose the song is about wishing you could have savoured something a lot more than you did.”

‘Snow Day’ was recorded live at The Rat Shack with Rob  Muinos, co-mixed by Potter and Muinos, and mastered by Mikey Young.

CHAT PILE ANNOUNCES FIRST AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND TOUR FOR JUNE 2026

Sludgy noise superstars CHAT PILE have announced their first ever Australia and New Zealand tour for June 2026.  Fusing elements of post-punk, nu metal, grunge, they have earned a cult following for their eclectic take on what they simply deem ‘noise rock.’

Having already sold out two shows at Hobart’s Dark Mofo Festival, the seven year old quartet will play dates in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Auckland and Wellington, with support from New Zealand’s BEASTWARS on selected dates.

Formed in 2019, the band took their name from piles of chat, byproducts of mining which are commonly found throughout northeast Oklahoma. Their adopted stage names Raygun Busch, Luther Manhole, Stin and Cap’n Ron were conjured as a way of avoiding identification from previous employers.

Following the band’s self-released debut ‘This Dungeon Earth’, they were signed to The Flenser in 2020 and released their debut album ‘God’s Country’. The album received broad acclaim, including ‘Best New Music’ on Pitchfork.

Their second full-length record ‘Cool World’ was releasing in 2024. They went on to headline Roadburn Festival 2025 and tour extensively, earning a reputation for an incendiary live show.

Joining Chat Pile in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland and Wellington is Kiwi sludge metal band BEASTWARS. The veteran group originally formed in the late 1980s and have abided by one steadfast maxim ever since: obey the riff.

It’s time. Dig into Chat Pile this June!

Hunger Strike is such a special song to me and fans around the world, with its haunting vocals and was such an amazing song to hear live from both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam! I have had this idea for a few years now and then Damien Kechagias (Dreamkillers and now FRACTURED STATE) came to me with a full album concept and thus the fun began. A huge thanks to Damien Kechagias for the production of this track and enlisted fellow Dreamkillers/Fractured State drummer Steve Hatchman and then the hunt for the vocalists began.

The overwhelming response from all vocalists on this track was amazing! A let’s do this! Attitude, so a huge thanks and much love goes out to Dellacoma Rio of Dellacoma, Jake Fleming of Audio Reign, Ben Rogers of Awaken The Hate, Ryan Daley of Wayward Kings and Zarz Vox of Whiteford – XMusic CEO, Tim McLean-Smth

MONO ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM ‘SNOWDROP’ AND AUSTRALIAN TOUR FOR APRIL 2017

Japanese instrumental rock group MONO has announced their new album ‘Snowdrop’ will be released on 12 June 2026.  It will be followed by their first Australian tour in four years, taking place in April 2027.  The legendary quartet will perform in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne; and return to Perth and Adelaide for the first time since 2020.

When MONO recorded their previous album “OATH” with longtime production partner and friend Steve Albini in 2023, they never fathomed that it would be the final studio album they made together.

Albini tragically died the following year, and that loss left an incalculable void in the lives of not just everyone who ever knew Steve, but everyone with an attachment to any of the thousands of records he helped bring into world over the past four decades. He brought a clarity to the chaos, and a selfless sense of service to art and artists that was unrivaled.

On both a personal and practical level, the loss left MONO faced with profound grief and uncertainty. Albini had become a fundamental part of MONO’s unmistakable sound, and the thought of replacing him was daunting, to say the least.

Enter: Brad Wood. Chosen for both his familiarity with MONO’s creative and technical working process – as well as his decades-long friendship with Steve Albini – Wood entered Albini’s storied Electrical Audio studios in September 2025 to record what would become “Snowdrop”. Once again working with Chicago-based conductor and orchestral musical director Chad McCullough, MONO enlisted a 10-piece orchestra as well as an 8-piece choir for the eight massive works that make up “Snowdrop”.

With the band performing and Wood recording in the same hallowed space where the majority of MONO’s records had been made in their quarter-century history, the songs on “Snowdrop” carry an extra weight.  Wood then mixed the album at Seagrass, his home studio in Los Angeles.

Where there could easily be a pall hanging over “Snowdrop”, there is instead an extraordinary air of gratitude. Rather than steep in heartache, there is a poignant appreciation for the resonance of life well-spent with a dear friend – and the yearning for what may come. “Snowdrop” is the sound of a band turning shock and sadness into hope and wonder and finding renewed focus in the freedom of unknowing.

Originally formed in 1999, MONO’s unique approach blends orchestral arrangements and shoegaze guitar noise into memorable and emotional epics. Consistently held in high regard by their peers, their music has been praised by media, including NME, proclaiming “this is music for the Gods.” Amongst their fans, they are revered as one of the best live experiences in rock.

ANIKA LOUISE Releases Stinging Indie-Folk Track ‘Thorns’

Anika Louise is learning where the roses end and the thorns begin. On her new single ‘Thorns’ (out Friday, April 10), she captures that realisation in something both tender and cutting. A painfully raw track shaped by contemplative lyricism and lilting melodies, ‘Thorns’ is a soundtrack to a familiar kind of heartbreak.

Following her 2025 debut release ‘Pearl’, the Boorloo/Perth-based indie-folk singer-songwriter has already seen an array of local support, including performing on national television for Telethon at RAC Arena, earning a WAM Song of the Year nomination in 2019, and opening for the Perth Symphony Orchestra at the Pop’N’Rock Symphony Concert.

Now, on just her second single, ‘Thorns’ opens with softly strummed acoustic guitar, laying a gentle, intimate foundation for Anika Louise’s dulcet voice and confessional lyricism. The first verse introduces the recurring image of thorns and roses, tracing the slow realisation that someone is not who they first seemed. Elaborating on the track, Anika Louise says:

“Thorns is about realising someone you trust isn’t who you thought they were and learning to let go of the version of them you believed in. I used roses as a metaphor for that experience, something beautiful on the surface that was hiding thorns underneath.”

As the song unfolds, it begins to open out. Warm electric guitar lines come forward, paired with twanging banjo and subtle piano, all anchored by the steady pulse of the drums. The arrangement swells and softens in turns, making ‘Thorns’ a powerful yet vulnerable journey that cries out softly and lingers in the heart.

With ‘Thorns’, Anika Louise leans fully into her strength as a storyteller, balancing vulnerability with clarity and control. Like picking a rose without noticing the thorns, it captures the moment truth breaks through, and the sting that follows.

Achingly real, like a soundtrack to a breakup, ‘Thorns’ is out on Friday, April 10. Catch Anika Louise at her single launch for ‘Thorns’, Sunday, May 3 at Perth’s Four5Nine.

DOOV PAYS HOMAGE TO 2000s DANCE-POP WITH CLUB ANTHEM ‘MR. WORLDWIDE’

Click to stream / view ‘Mr. Worldwide’

Brooklyn-based artist and producer Doov has just released his latest high-energy banger, ‘Mr. Worldwide’ – co-produced with his brother and longtime collaborator Silly J.

‘Mr. Worldwide’ is an infectious dancefloor filler, masterfully fusing tech-house production with shoutable rap hooks. Born from a synth line created in a post-surgery fever dream, the song serves as a modern homage to the 2000s dance-pop era. The track features a sample of an interview with Pitbull from Australia’s Smallzy’s Surgery on NOVA, anchoring a playful nod to the iconic moniker.

Doov explains the inspiration behind ‘Mr Worldwide’:

“I always had this line floating in my head about ‘feeling like Mr. Worldwide’ because I think it sounds cool, but it’s also kind of funny. Pitbull is obviously an extremely talented and successful artist, but he seems never to take himself too seriously and is really focused on making his music fun. In large part, that’s what I’m trying to do as well… I think my main goal is to make fun music that connects without ever taking itself too seriously.”

The release is accompanied by a music video inspired by the visuals of Pitbull’s ‘Hey Baby’, fully embracing the vibrant, fun-first spirit of the club-pop era for a new generation of listeners. Following the success of viral hits like ‘Evil’ and ‘Impress Me’, which have helped propel Doov to over 1.5 million organic monthly streams, the new single captures the definitive blueprint for Doov’s signature “Dancerap” sound.

After getting his start in the New Jersey SoundCloud scene, Doov shifted his direction following a pivotal stint in Berlin. Immersed in the city’s underground techno culture, he reshaped his sound into the high-octane, club-driven lane he leads today.

Between a recently sold-out show at NYC’s Mercury Lounge and the launch of his own Dancerap event series, Doov is firmly at the forefront of a new era where hip-hop and EDM share the same dancefloor.

THE BLACK ANGELS REVEAL FULL AUSTRALIAN TOUR DATES WITH NEW SHOWS ADDED
PERFORMING PASSOVER IN FULL FOR ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Austin psych-rock trailblazers The Black Angels will return to Australia and New Zealand in 2026 for a special run of shows marking 20 years since the release of their landmark debut album Passover (2006). Newly announced headline dates in Melbourne and Adelaide join previously confirmed shows as part of VIVID (Sydney), Open Season (Brisbane) and Dark Mofo (Hobart).

Formed in Austin, Texas in 2004, The Black Angels have become one of the defining acts of the modern psychedelic rock movement. Drawing inspiration from forebears such as Syd Barrett, Roky Erickson, Arthur Lee and The Velvet Underground, the band have built a reputation for crafting music that nods to the genre’s foundations while pushing into darker, contemporary territory.

Released in 2006, Passover quickly earned cult status, helping shape the global psych revival of the 21st century with its droning riffs, hypnotic rhythms and stark lyrical themes. Two decades on, the record continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.

Across subsequent albums including Death Song (2017) and Wilderness of Mirrors (2022) via Partisan Records, The Black Angels have continued to refine their sound while maintaining the intensity and atmosphere that first set them apart.

Beyond their own recordings, the band’s influence extends through their role as founders of Austin Psych Fest – now known globally as Levitation – one of the most important gatherings for psychedelic and experimental music.

Renowned for their mesmerising live performances, The Black Angels’ 2026 return promises a rare chance to revisit a defining record performed front-to-back, alongside material spanning their two-decade career.

Presale begins Tuesday 14 April at 10am local time.

Jesse Baird’s Mother appears in GREG GOULD’s powerful new video ‘NO MORE’ with Kate DeAraugo & Kween Kong

Album ‘Strings Attached (Deluxe)’ Out now

Trigger Warning: The music video contains themes of domestic and sexual violence that may be distressing for some viewers.

Listen to ‘Strings Attached (Deluxe)’

Watch ‘No More’ Music Video

There are moments where music carries more than melody, where it becomes a call for change. Australian vocalist Greg Gould steps into that space with the release of his powerful new album ‘Strings Attached (Deluxe)’, led by the powerful focus track ‘No More’, featuring Kate DeAraugo, Adam Noviello and Kween Kong.

Created in response to the tragic deaths of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, the song’s accompanying music video is grounded by an incredibly personal presence, with Baird’s mother appearing on screen in a moment that transforms the work into both a touching tribute and a powerful statement.

Upon hearing the song, Jesse Baird’s mother, Helen Baird, connected deeply with the track’s heartfelt lyrics. Co-written by Gould (with Adam Noviello & Jack Hollander), the song is a tribute to both her son Jesse and his partner Luke Davies. In the wake of a tragedy that drew widespread attention across Australia and the world and continues to unfold through ongoing legal proceedings, she was moved by its message and reached out to Gould to thank him for creating the song. She wanted to be part of the accompanying music video, not only to help raise awareness, but to honour her son and his legacy, bringing a profoundly personal layer to the project.

The music video delves into the realities of domestic and sexual violence, featuring real survivors who share their stories with striking honesty and vulnerability, including Gould who is a survivor of sexual abuse himself.

Their presence brings a deeply human dimension to the visual, supported by performances that honour these experiences with care. At its centre is Helen Baird, whose strength anchors the piece, reinforcing its broader aim to start conversations, raise awareness, and ensure those impacted feel seen and supported.

“My hope is that this reaches people who need it. That it starts conversations. That it makes some noise around issues that are far too often not talked about yet so close to home for so many. And most of all – that it reminds survivors that you are not alone. Being on set with Helen and the other survivors was incredibly powerful – there were many tears but also so much shared strength” says Gould.

That same spirit carries through ‘Strings Attached (Deluxe)’, which reimagines Gould’s 2024 ARIA chart-topping album, expanding its world through a series of international collaborations and four new tracks that open the project into a new chapter.

For Greg Gould, ‘Strings Attached (Deluxe)’ represents a continuation of a deeply personal body of work, shaped by lived experience and a commitment to honesty. “When I first released Strings Attached, it was my debut original album. Some of those songs had been sitting on my heart for a long time,” he shares. “Getting them out into the world meant everything to me, but I always knew I wasn’t finished with them. These songs deserved to grow, and so did I.” Expanding on themes of survival, hope, and resilience, the deluxe edition allows Gould to revisit these stories with renewed perspective, deepening their emotional impact while continuing to advocate for voices too often left unheard.

That sense of shared experience extends across the album’s expansive list of collaborators, bringing together voices from across Australia and beyond. From Grammy-winning Broadway star Shoshana Bean and global powerhouse Morissette, to Australian icons Kate DeAraugo and Tania Doko, alongside queer trailblazers including Kween Kong, AJA, Willam and Ada Vox, each contribution adds a distinct perspective to the project’s emotional landscape.

The deluxe edition also includes two bonus solo tracks, including ‘Running’ the song Gould co-wrote (with Tony Chilvers) for the upcoming Australian film ‘Body Blow’, remixes from Grammy-winning dance icon Dave Audé and Japanese hit producer Initial Talk as well as ‘You Are Enough’ with Royston Noell’ and ‘Just For You’ with Joan & The Giants.

Across ‘Strings Attached (Deluxe)’, sweeping orchestral arrangements and emotionally driven songwriting provide the foundation for a deeply collaborative body of work. Live strings, directed by Ryan Youens, bring a cinematic depth to the record, while each featured artist adds their own perspectives, styles and talents, shaping the stories from multiple angles.

Whether through the unified power of ‘No More’, the emotional openness of ‘Come Home’ with Tarryn Stokes, or the soaring presence of ‘Like This Before’ with Jaz Flowers these collaborations expand the album’s reach, reinforcing its themes of connection, resilience, and shared experience. Gould’s multi-octave voice anchors it all, holding each moment with clarity and conviction.

Out Friday, April 10, with its expanded scope and renewed sense of purpose, ‘Strings Attached (Deluxe)’, stands as a powerful statement. Then, join Gould and many of those who feature on the album when he launches the record on April 11 at Memo Music Hall in St Kilda, Melbourne.

Loose Fit sign to Dinosaur City; announce Bittersweet Excess EP + share title track

STREAM/SHARE ‘BITTERSWEET EXCESS’

The notion of being open to sublimity and grace, while reconciling with the grief and despair that surrounds you, is a tension that snakes through Loose Fit’s exhilarating new EP Bittersweet Excess, (out Friday, May 22 via Dinosaur City).

On this new collection of songs, Sydney-based quartet (Kaylene Milner, Max Edgar, Richard Martin and Anna Langdon) expand their tightly wound post-punk sound, collaborating closely with musician, producer and DJ Hugh Burridge (Hugh B). Across the EP’s four tracks, the group explore deeper dub production techniques, settling into looser grooves that feel both tough and slinky. These spacious explorations are complemented by the figurative imagery of vocalist and saxophonist Anna Langdon, whose lyrics, she says, “span much more dreamy and ethereal territory than our previous work, dipping into prophetic visions, myths and philosophy.”

But make no mistake, this metaphysical bent has not softened Loose Fit’s sound. The EP is awash with razor-sharp guitars, dubby bass and mutant dance-punk. Take title track, ‘Bittersweet Excess’ for example. Out today, it’s a sinister, dubby dismissal of modern insatiability. Driven by a propulsive, catchy bassline and deadpan vocals, the new EP’s lead single explores the paradox of having more than we need, yet never feeling satiated. It highlights the irony of searching for belonging in spaces where human presence is expendable compared to capital, critiquing the hoard of surplus wealth that poisons the collective spirit. The only solution? “To let it go,” as Langdon intones.

Loose Fit formed in 2017. The band was born out of a friendship between Milner (Wah-Wah) and Langdon, who had met at fashion design school years earlier. The band’s previous releases include their self-titled debut EP (2018) and full-length album Social Graces (2022), released by FatCat Records and Spunk to acclaim from The Line of Best Fit (Song of the Day), NME, Clash, Rough Trade (On the Rise)So Young, KEXP, WFMU and community radio across Australia. Live, they have supported artists including Kid Congo, Parquet Courts, Tropical Fuck Storm and EXEK.

MASTER PEACE & THOMAS DAY TEAM UP ON NEW TRACK ‘LOVE HATE’

LISTEN HERE

Master Peace continues his unstoppable ascent with the release of his new single, ‘Love Hate’, featuring hotly-tipped pop singer-songwriter Thomas Day. The track perfectly captures the duality its title suggests, balancing dreamy, melodic vocals with raw, explosive energy. Thomas Day’s smooth delivery moves seamlessly through Master Peace’s signature grit, as electric guitars and booming drums drive the track’s emotional push and pull between love and hate.

Alongside this release, Master Peace announces a London headline show at Heaven on October 28, 2026.

‘Love/Hate’ is out now via Big Family Music. Listen on your streaming service of choice below:

‘Love Hate’ marks Master Peace’s first release since his critically acclaimed EP ‘Stupid Kids’, which dropped last month to widespread praise. The project tightened his status as one of the UK’s most compelling new voices, earning major Spotify support, including a cover spot on The New Alt playlist for standout track ‘My Guitar’, alongside placements across New Music Friday (UK & US), MARROW, All New Rock, and The Indie List.

The EP also drew acclaim from leading tastemakers including UPROXX, NPR, Consequence of Sound, Clash, Dork, DIY, Huck, MTV UK, and The Line of Best Fit. Produced by industry heavyweights Dan Carey and Julian Bunetta, and featuring collaborations with Declan McKenna, ‘Stupid Kids’ made a significant impact across the UK indie scene and further – a bold statement dedicated to today’s youth that continues to echo loud.

While his recordings showcase his versatility, it’s on stage where Master Peace truly comes into his own. Known for his electrifying live performances, he brings a gusty, explosive energy that transforms venues of any size into something that feels alive.

Currently, Master Peace is taking that energy across Europe and Ireland as part of a 19-date tour supporting 5 Seconds of Summer, rapidly expanding his fanbase and introducing his sound to new audiences night after night.

Looking ahead, May will see him take his momentum even further afield, joining Australian DJ and producer Young Franco for two highly anticipated shows at Ivy in Sydney on 16th May and Timberyard in Melbourne on 22nd May.

Following his EP, Master Peace builds on the momentum, closing one chapter and opening another with ‘Love Hate’.

“Master Peace’s genre-agnostic attitude epitomizes the newest class of rockstars, but his voice remains singular: When Master Peace speaks, you listen.” – Consequence of Sound

“Master Peace is guided by the creative freedom that defines him as an independent gem within an industry where many are still bound by external rules just to make art.” – Fault

“fusing indie and alt tropes with electronics and beyond.” – Clash

“Good Times’ pulls from the indie Brit-rock palette that has long shaped Master Peace but drives it into faster, rougher territory with a looser, more deliberate edge.” – Galore

More on Master Peace…
From the streets of South East London to the quiet suburbs of Surrey, Peace Okezie, the creative force behind the acclaimed artist project, Master Peace, is the product of a cultural collision that’s uniquely his own. Raised between indie discos, grime cyphers and FIFA soundtracks (which he now finds himself featured on), his makeup is one of contrast and conviction. This duality isn’t just in his upbringing – it’s the driving force behind his sound: a gutsy fusion of raucous indie, punk energy and lyric-forward realism, with a spirit made for the stage. That distinctive mix came into full focus on his latest EP, ‘Stupid Kids’.

Never one to fit neatly into a singular box, Peace grew up with Skepta and Giggs in his brother’s headphones, and The Kooks, Bloc Party and Vampire Weekend in his own. By the time he was making music himself, he’d already learned to navigate both worlds. “I always had my foot in each door but never felt like I fit in with either crowd, so I decided I needed to create something new,” he says. That split identity birthed his genre-hybrid sound.

Master Peace’s 2024 debut album ‘How To Make A Master Peace’ turned heads, earning him an Ivor Novello Rising Star Award, Zane Lowe recognition, MTV Push, honours, a Rolling Stone nomination, Glastonbury stages and support slots with Franz Ferdinand and Kasabian. But accolades were never the goal, it’s always been about authenticity. The year that followed cemented him as one of the UK’s most exciting live acts, taking him from headline shows in London and beyond to his first-ever headline US tour.

This year Peace entered a new era, with ‘Stupid Kids’. Released February 27th 2026, the EP stands as a celebration of resilience and a rejection of doubt, with Peace’s past looming large in the story. Growing up with crime on his doorstep, and losing friends to violence and prison shaped how he sees the world – one he could easily have been pulled into. As a child, his God-fearing family thought he was possessed – he wasn’t, of course. He was instead living with undiagnosed autism and ADHD. Written off by teachers, kicked out of school with no qualifications, and labelled “a stupid kid,” Peace’s path could have gone another way. This project is for those kids – the ones who’ve been misunderstood, underestimated, or given up on. For the first time, Peace is opening up about that side of his life. “Yeah, I am a stupid kid, and I left school with no GCSEs… but I managed to beat the odds,” he says, not with bitterness, but with pride. In navigating a system that didn’t understand him, Peace channels years of frustration and growth into the music.

Across ‘Stupid Kids’, Master Peace unifies sharp social reflection with the same playful, indie-soaked sound that’s become his signature. An entertainer at heart, even when he’s confronting heavier subjects like violence, loss, or mental health, Peace’s music never loses its energy or optimism.

With two tracks featured on the FC26 soundtrack (“Spin The Block” and “There’s No More Underground”), and production from revered names like Dan Carey, ‘Stupid Kids’ is already making waves. Beyond the music, Peace continues to turn messages into action. His There’s No More Underground initiative – a love letter to the grassroots venues that raised him – keeps live music accessible with £5 shows and free track downloads, proving his commitment to the next generation of artists.

Fresh off a run of headline shows across North America, arena dates supporting Bastille, and UK/EU shows with Duckwrth, alongside a support slot with Good Neighbours and the release of his EP earlier this year, Master Peace shows no signs of slowing down. Currently on the road with 5 Seconds of Summer, his vision has never been clearer. With the same electric spirit that’s fuelled his rise, Master Peace now reveals a more personal side on ‘Stupid Kids’.

Isabel Rumble Returns With Luminous New Single Ahead of International Tour

‘Patience Peaceful Breathing Slow’ Out NOW

Stream ‘Patience Peaceful Breathing Slow’

After the release of her second album ‘Hold Everything Lightly’, followed by a national tour last year, Australian indie-folk songstress Isabel Rumble returns with ‘Patience Peaceful Breathing Slow’, a delicate and meditative new single out Friday, April 10.

The new track arrives ahead of an extensive international run, with Isabel Rumble set to take her album on tour across the UK, Ireland and Europe following a series of Western Australian dates and festival appearances in April.

With this run of shows for her second album, it feels only fitting to share ‘Patience Peaceful Breathing Slow’, a song written and recorded during the same period, shaped by the uncertain space she found herself in as her debut album was released into the world in 2023.

“‘Patience Peaceful Breathing Slow’ was written as I began to make my peace with winter,” Rumble says, describing the uncertainty she experienced after releasing her debut album. But it was when she came across a story in Women Who Run With the Wolves about “sitting with an idea and gently rocking with it until clarity returns” that the meaning of that in-between period began to shift. She continues:

“This song was my permission to tend to the parts of myself I’d neglected in the busyness of releasing my debut album. It feels appropriate to let this one into the world now at the completion of my second album.”

As the title suggests, ‘Patience Peaceful Breathing Slow’ is poised, lulling and calm. Lush cello and bass open the track, intertwined with an ambient, slowly building piano line. The orchestral arrangement carries throughout, creating a soft, melancholic undercurrent to the dulcet folk sound that Isabel Rumble has become known for. Magical and mellifluous, her direct vocal delivery flows around the arrangement, further accentuated with mystical harmonies.

The title is repeated many times as the chorus of the song, in a trance-like, meditative way. ‘Patience Peaceful Breathing Slow’ becomes a mantra for clarity, creating space for reflection.

‘Patience Peaceful Breathing Slow’ is out Friday, April 10, and it is a reminder to breathe in, breathe out, and move with care. All international tour shows TBA.

LUCKY RELEASES DEBUT EP BITING HEELS + NEW SONG ‘PERFECT PAIN’ + EP TOUR IN JUNE

LISTEN

TICKETS

Melbourne-via-Staghorn Flat artist Lucky today releases her anticipated debut EP Biting Heels and highlights new song ‘Perfect Pain’. Quietly devastating and unmistakably sincere, the nine track EP also features singles ‘Lady Beetle’,‘Adored’, ‘Clover’ and the EP title track.

Lucky says; Although ‘Biting Heels’ is my debut, it feels like a long time coming. Finally putting out a body of work that I’ve poured everything into, something that feels truly meaningful, it marks an important moment for me. An official introduction to the world. To me the project feels quite broad, dipping into my different sonic inspirations and directions. I tried to tip my hat to all of them whilst still leaving room for whatever I do next.

‘Biting Heels’, the title track, and subsequent EP title kind of came out of nowhere. Working on the song reminded me of when I first started writing music, with an acoustic guitar at the core. It quickly became the heart of the EP, centring much of the lyrical content across the record. Exploring comfort zones, the act of pushing beyond them, and trusting that you’ll land somewhere new and exciting.”

Currently on tour with MAY-A, Lucky will continue the momentum in June with her own headline run in support of the EP, kicking off in Brisbane, and making stops in Melbourne and Sydney, and wrapping up in Adelaide.

Lucky’s intimate songwriting and hazy guitar-driven textures has seen her have a mammoth debut 12 months with high rotation on national radio, two separate inclusions on Spotify’s coveted Fresh Finds global playlist and winning the triple j unearthed slot at Beyond The Valley festival. Additionally, she performed at SXSW in Austin, supported the likes of 90’s icons Garbage, was included in NME’s much sought after Global NME100 list and hit viral status three separate times on Shazam.

Her appearance at BIGSOUND last year saw her named as an artist to keep an eye on for 2026 and she walked away from the industry conference having signed label and agency deals with Community Music and Select Music respectively.

LISTEN

The invigorating ‘Someone Else’s Dream’ captures the infectious cadence of walking through an unfamiliar city and follows their rousing, defiant single, ‘Now I’ve Said It’.

Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley share, “We’ve always loved to people-watch when we’re walking through the city, and we’re fascinated by the hustle and bustle, especially given we live on a dirt road in the bush. We often wonder what everybody’s stories are – it’s so interesting. But it would be a boring world if everyone were the same, so as the song says, ‘you do you, and I’ll do me’. In short, ‘Someone Else’s Dream’ is a bit of fun about taking a walk through the city.”

Produced by acclaimed Sydney producers Andy Mak and Scott Horscroft, ‘Someone Else’s Dream’ showcases the duo’s signature blend of storytelling and energy.

The accompanying official video, directed by Bradley Murnane, was filmed on a sun-drenched day outside the heritage-listed Old Newcastle Railway Station. As Brooke and Adam walk through Newcastle, they are greeted and embraced by passers-by, making an unfamiliar city feel like home. Keep an eye out for a special cameo appearance from Travel Guides favourite, Mark Fren.

CRYSTAL LAKE ANNOUNCE PK FROM PROMPTS AS GUEST VOCALIST FOR AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Australia is in for a special treat as PK frontman of Japanese/Korean juggernauts PROMPTS will join CRYSTAL LAKE for their tour supporting OF MICE & MEN.

PK’s journey is definitely unique. He grew up in Korea, where K‑Pop dominated everything, but he and a small circle of friends were die‑hard metalheads. They bonded over blasting Metallica’s Master of Puppets on repeat.

PK has talked openly about how difficult it is to be a metal fan or artist in Korea with little money, little support, and almost no infrastructure for heavy bands. That struggle pushed him toward Japan, where he eventually joined PROMPTS and found a scene that deeply embraced heavier music

“In Korea, it’s nearly impossible to get noticed unless you’re in the pop scene. In Japan, the opportunities are endless.”

Known for high‑energy, aggressive vocal delivery that blends metalcore grit with melodic phrasing. PK brings a cross‑cultural identity and personality that will add a unique new sound and message to CRYSTAL LAKE.

In the 6 years of absence from Australia, Crystal Lake’s reputation has only grown more colossal as they have become a global force in heavy music. Fusing hardcore and metalcore with soaring melodies and crushing intensity; and with their relentless and electrifying stage presence, the band has built a worldwide following that transcends international borders.

“Just when it felt like metalcore was hitting a plateau, Crystal Lake swoops in and revitalizes the genre… a mind-bending fusion of hardcore, metalcore, deathcore, nu metalcore, and even some ambient sounds… This is a whole different level of metalcore; there’s really nothing else out there like it. The tones, the stunning atmosphere—these are the things that set this band apart.” Sputnik Music

PLINI SHARES NEW SINGLE + MUSIC VIDEO MANALA

NEW ALBUM AN UNNAMEABLE DESIRE
DUE OUT FRIDAY 24 APRIL

Recently announcing a new chapter for Plini, with the prolific Australian guitarist, composer and producer announcing the release of a brand new album An Unnameable Desire, set for release on Friday 24 April comes Manala, the second track accompanied with a brand new music video.

Manala follows the album’s title track and Plini shares, “Following on from the first song and video, hopefully this one is sufficiently surprising! I chose it for that impact, and for the lengthy guitar solo – knowing that the first track probably wouldn’t have enough shred for many of my listeners. Enjoy!”

Watch the music video for Manala here:

Across the space of 10 tracks, An Unnameable Desire blends staggering intricacy with moments of surging heaviness and billowing bliss, catapulting Plini’s expansive dexterity and sonic diversity into even greater new heights.

Mixed by Simon Grove and mastered by Adam “Nolly” Getgood, An Unnameable Desire finds Plini joining forces with a horde of creative talent, with magic woven alongside Simon Grove (bass, auxiliary guitar, mixing, engineering and co-production), Chris Allison (drums percussion, additional drum engineering and co-production), Dave Mckay (piano, keyboards and synthesizers), A.J. Minette (string arrangement and production), Misha Vayman (violin) and Yoshi Masuda (cello), with additional production on Ciel courtesy of Devesh Dayal, a guitar solo on Ciel by Jakub Zytecki and harp on After Everything by Emily Hopkins. Album artwork is designed by Patti Bai.

“Something I’m very happy about, after many years of making music and the “career” aspect of it becoming a whole lot more serious, is that the process hasn’t changed – still just me sitting in a room, tinkering on a guitar until I come across an interesting idea, and then following it down various rabbit holes until it starts feeling like a song,” shares Plini of his upcoming new album.

“The intention with this album,” adds Plini, “was to let that side of the process be as playful as possible, and then when it came to executing these ideas as finished songs, trying to expand the music in every direction possible: the heavier parts should be heavier, the pretty parts should be prettier, the hard-to-play stuff should be harder to play… and also in being as thoughtful and intricate as possible in relating the songs to each other through various themes and references. I hope it’s as enjoyable to listen to as it was to make!”

Renowned for delivering mind-bending musicality from all angles, Plini has previously released two full-length albums, 2016’s Handmade Cities and 2020’s Impulse Voices, alongside several EPs, singles and contributing credits along the way.

Nominated for Live Guitarist of the Year in 2018 at the National Live Music Awards, Plini has also previously toured alongside Sleep Token, Periphery and Tesseract, and will embark on a huge world tour in 2026, commencing in Europe in late April.

Fresh off a sold-out 10 date arena tour supporting Hilltop Hoods, where his raw, high-energy solo sets garnered rave reviews, South Australian artist trials (Daniel Hendle Rankine) is back. The award-winning songwriter, producer and performer drops new singles ‘be an adult (have a breakdown)’, and ‘… then I got dressed’ today, leading up to his debut solo album ‘hendle’ out May 1.

‘be an adult (have a breakdown)’ is a hard-edged boom bap track, driven by urgency and lived experience. With gritty MPC drums, piano, and bass underpin raw, honest lyricism. Written in the wake of early bereavement of family and friends before they ever reached a mid-life crisis, the song captures the realization that adulthood is about managing loss and hard times and defining oneself through resilience and how you respond. trials shares, “so many of my friends and family died before they could reach a mid life crisis. ‘be an adult (have a breakdown)’ is about understanding part of being an adult is that most of the time everything is fucked and it’s how you respond to it that makes you the human, husband, dad etc.”

‘… then I got dressed’ emerged as a standout track at the recent live shows, deeply exploring themes of depression and suicide. It serves as a powerful testament to personal struggle and a triumphant story of overcoming adversity. ‘In a time where we’re diluting words, I choose to use terms that make us have visceral reactions”, says trials. “The only thing more serious than suicide is the silence that’s often around it. As an MC who represents and speaks often on indigenous issues, there are a few flavours I’m expected to cook with – ‘I am allowed to be proud/ mad at the cloud / as long as I’m not depressed’…I acknowledge the claustrophobia and discuss the ways I clutched myself away from it.”

‘be an adult (have a breakdown)’ is accompanied by an edgy satirical music video clip directed, produced, edited and performed by trials.

With three weeks until release ‘hendle’ sees trials take the time to understand and share his soul on an unflinching, emotive collection of 10 songs, telling the unsanitised story of a childhood built on displacement, domestic violence, substance abuse, intergenerational trauma, mental health challenges, the carceral system and the strength it became. Entirely produced, written, performed, recorded and mixed by trials, ‘hendle’ sees the multi-talented, multi-disciplinary artist, who’s also an in-demand TV and film composer (Netflix’s Cargo, Prime Video’s Top End Bub), play every instrument on the album, with his signature style strong beats and detailed arrangements alongside intimate and bold storytelling. ‘hendle’ is trial’s “warts and all” origin story. Spoiler alert: the hero survives.

The first 100 vinyl copies of ‘hendle’ with bonus 7’s sold out instantly. The limited edition transparent violet vinyl signed 12” art card featuring trials painting from the ‘what’s the colour of love?’ music video are available to pre-order now – watch a look behind the curtin here.

Created meticulously between Melbourne and Auckland, the album features some of SOLA ROSA’s most striking material yet, redefining his artistry and demonstrating new sonic potential still to be explored.

Featuring singles ‘Jupiter (ft. Iva Lamkum)’, ‘Losing Time (ft. Muroki)’ and the dynamic ‘Like A Light In The Dark (ft. BRŪDE)’, the record is a love letter to the mix of genres that has become the blueprint for his signature style of production and arrangement.

Upon a foundation of electronic patterns exists delicate shades of R&B, insatiable funk, compelling rhythms and attitude that is bolstered by the presence of a masterfully-curated cast of guest vocalists.

In addition to Iva Lamkum, Muroki and BRŪDE, the listener is able to lose themselves in different moments of  IN THE MIDS where artists including Akosia (‘No Time For Love’), Blush’ko (‘We Try and We Lose’), Wallace (‘How Do You’) and Wilson Blackley (‘Dangerous’) take centrestage.

“This album began like all my others — I’d make a bunch of beats and see what stuck — but at first, I had no clear vision. I was still thinking in terms of a live band setup, and everything felt a bit rigid, too many rules. Then, during one of the final lockdowns in NZ, I watched a short video of renowned producer Decap saying, “just try and make a beat a day without judgement.” I gave it a go, and it was liberating — it brought real joy back into making music. Suddenly, it was okay to explore ideas that in the past might have felt outside my wheelhouse. After a few days, the music started pouring out in unexpected and fascinating directions. That’s how most of this album came together.

Once that approach became my norm, I had a much clearer sense of the sound I wanted — more dancefloor-friendly, heavy grooves, layered synths and arpeggiated textures, programmed beats, and strong vocal contributions. There’s still a signature Sola Rosa touch in there, with a mix of tempos, subtle and punchy, but ultimately this became an album focused on my production style rather than a live-band framework. Influences from the dance music I’d been DJing and listening to heavily at the time naturally crept in, shaping the direction of the beats and the overall energy. While some key players still feature, this is very much me as a producer exploring new terrain.”
SOLA ROSA

Across SOLA ROSA’s lauded career, the producer has cultivated a global fanbase courtesy of impressive releases and appearances on stages throughout North America, the UK and Europe.

He has performed at festivals including Secret Garden Party (UK), WOMAD (NZ), Kendall Calling (UK), Green Man (UK) and Shambala (UK); while previous collaborations with artists including TALL BLACK GUY, DJ VADIM and HERMITUDE have further established SOLA ROSA as one of the best to come out of Aotearoa, with over 65 million streams to his name.

With IN THE MIDS out now, SOLA ROSA will be touring the record throughout Aotearoa this coming May & June.

THE AMITY AFFLICTION DROP FINAL TASTE OF UPCOMING ALBUM WITH NEW SINGLE ‘HEAVEN SENT’. HIGHLY ANTICIPATED STUDIO RECORD HOUSE OF CARDS OUT APRIL 24TH

With just weeks to go until the release of their ferocious new album HOUSE OF CARDS, Australian heavy icons THE AMITY AFFLICTION share a fresh teaser of what is to come with the powerful single ‘HEAVEN SENT’.

The release of this new track sees THE AMITY AFFLICTION step further into blistering new territory as songwriters and a creative unit – the single standing as a prime example of the unwavering intensity marking the HOUSE OF CARDS era.

Following on from singles ‘BLEED’ and ‘HOUSE OF CARDS’, the latest from THE AMITY AFFLICTION takes the listener back into a personal memory JOEL BIRCH found himself revisiting during the songwriting process. The impact of trauma experienced as a young person, the way it can shape us in good ways and bad; ultimately, the choices people make in navigating their way through such times in pursuit of peace.

Birch’s songwriting, evidenced right throughout HOUSE OF CARDS draws heavily on different moments of struggle and overcoming; ‘HEAVEN SENT’ focuses on the relationship between himself and his stepfather.

As he explains, “This is one of the darker songs on the album, the first line references one of a handful of memories I have from when I was really young and my step father still smoked. He put his cigarette out on my arm at a party and then played it off as an accident, my mother was busy getting drunk and brushed it off and told me to keep it moving, basically. The rest of the song is a snapshot of my home life in some ways and the way the abuse was cyclical in nature and always prefaced by or followed by “I love you” which obviously creates some strange and unhealthy ways for a young person to understand their relationship to a parent.”

2026 has already proved to be a busy and fruitful one for THE AMITY AFFLICTION; the preparation of this new album coinciding with an extensive tour of regional Australia, and the development of an international touring schedule that will see the band return to stages across North America, Europe and the UK.

‘HEAVEN SENT’ IS OUT NOW.

Upon release, it peaked at #3 on the Spotify Global Chart and made career-high debuts in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. This success builds on the global impact of “Stick Season,” which became the UK’s #1 top selling single of 2024 and saw Kahan achieve a rare UK “double-double” with a #1 album and #1 single simultaneously. Not to mention, “Stick Season” peaked at #1 in the UK for 7 consecutive weeks, in Australia and Ireland for 14 non-consecutive weeks, and in the Netherlands for 7 non-consecutive weeks, while the Stick Season album peaked at #1 in the UK, in Ireland for 11 non-consecutive weeks, and in the Netherlands for 2 non-consecutive weeks.

Directed by Nick Sweeney (Santa Camp, AKA Jane Roe), the film premiered at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival, where it received the 24 Beats Per Second Audience Award and has already drawn critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone declaring, “The 94-minute documentary follows Kahan closely as he becomes a stadium-level superstar, and it doesn’t flinch from showing the challenges that went along with his astonishing rise,” Billboard noting, “Kahan is beloved for his lyrically vulnerable indie folk music, and now the artist is on the verge of sharing even more of himself with the world,” and Variety calling it “a beautiful and revealing documentary.” The film follows Kahan at a pivotal crossroads as the breakout success of Stick Season propels him into global stardom, capturing a transformative year of sold-out tours and mounting expectations as he returns to his Vermont roots to confront personal struggles and search for a sense of home and creative clarity. ABOUT NOAH KAHAN:

Two-time GRAMMY®-nominated, multi-platinum Vermont singer-songwriter Noah Kahan has risen from his New England roots to become a globally resonant voice of his generation. Across his career, Kahan has amassed nearly 15 billion global streams, sold nearly 12 million global albums, earned 22 Platinum and Gold certifications, and sold over 2 million tickets worldwide. In addition to receiving two GRAMMY® nominations, he’s been recognized by the BRIT Awards, Billboard Music Awards, iHeart Radio Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, Americana Honors & Awards, and more.

Kahan’s critically acclaimed breakthrough 2022 album Stick Season became a cultural phenomenon. Over the span of two years, the 4x Platinum album and its 8x Platinum title track reached number one across North America, the UK, and Europe, becoming the fourth best-selling album of 2024 and remaining in the Top 15 more than three years after its release. In 2023 following the release of Stick Season, Kahan launched his mental health non-profit, The Busyhead Project, which has raised over $6.6 million to date in support of its mission to increase awareness around the importance of mental health.

Now, Kahan enters his next artistic era with The Great Divide, his fourth studio album, due April 24th via Mercury Records. Written in the wake of his rapid rise to global fame, the album finds Kahan at his most honest, reflective, and emotionally resonant—grappling with success, identity, family, distance, and the unspoken truths that separate people from one another. Produced by acclaimed producer and Stick Season collaborator Gabe Simon (Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey, Koe Wetzel) alongside GRAMMY®-winning producer Aaron Dessner (Taylor Swift, Bon Iver), The Great Divide builds on Kahan’s signature storytelling while pushing his sound into more expansive, anthemic, and sonically adventurous territory. In support of the new album, Kahan will kick off his biggest tour to date, The Great Divide World Tour, headlining sold-out stadiums across North America this summer and arenas across the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand this fall. At the heart of Noah Kahan’s music remains the same guiding purpose that first drew fans in: honest storytelling, shared vulnerability, and songs that help listeners feel understood.

RISING EXPANDS 2026 PROGRAM WITH CITY-WIDE PARTIES, PUBLIC EVENTS, NEW MUSIC COLLABORATIONS AND FIRST PEOPLES-LED WORKS

Kween Kong (left) and Lady Shaka (right) to perform at God Save the Queens alongside The Royal Family Dance Crew

Melbourne’s premier festival of music, art and performance has expanded again, with RISING today announcing a new wave of programming across its 2026 lineup. The additions extend its city-wide invitation to move, gather and experience music, dance and art across the city.

Building on a program that will transform Melbourne from 27 May to 8 June, these additions place participation, nightlife and public space at the centre, spanning late-night parties, dance classes, major free events, First Peoples-led works, visual art, public programs and new music collaborations.

“This next wave of programming pushes further into the pulse of the city. Into clubs, onto trams, streets and shared spaces,” said RISING Artistic Director Hannah Fox. Whether you choose to enter the big collective energy of large-scale free gatherings, or venture off the beaten path to an intimate dance floor, RISING is about communion – experiencing music, movement and culture, together.”

CITY-WIDE PARTIES AND AFTER DARK CLUBS

Presented with Fed Square, a major new free event takes over the heart of the city on Saturday 7 June. God Save the Queens is a large-scale Pasifika block party led by global street dance icons The Royal Family Dance Crew. Part performance, part mass participation moment, the event invites audiences onto the floor as the crew break down their signature Polyswagg choreography live. It’s a defining moment in a night that unfolds as a full-scale Pasifika music and dance takeover.

As the sun sets, the square transforms into an open-air celebration of Pasifika music, dance and community. The newly announced lineup spans the high-energy of JessB and Rubi Du, whose club-ready sound moves between hip hop, R&B and dancehall, and trailblazing Afro-Pasifika DJ, producer and global music icon Lady Shaka. They are joined by HALFQUEEN, the Aotearoa DJ known for genre-bending global club sets that channel diaspora, nostalgia and collective release, and Kween Kong, the internationally recognised Samoan-Tongan performance artist whose work fuses contemporary dance, drag and Pacific cultural practice into bold spectacle.

Rounding out the night, Neo Sun performs with the Pasefika Victoria Choir, reimagining traditional Pacific sounds through electronic experimentation and newly developed choral works created for this performance, capping off the lineup for this major, free event spanning Polynesian techno, dancehall and global club sounds.

Tokyo-via-Manhattan rapper and artist Nina Utashiro will be supporting TR/ST at Hamer Hall.

Elsewhere in the city, RISING’s late-night pulse continues with Bass Lounge, hidden beneath the Paramount Food Court in Chinatown. Enter through the golden doors for the festival’s Friday night after parties, a neon-lit underworld of global club sounds, cracked electronica, live sets and karaoke rooms, open from 10pm through to 4am.

Across two Fridays, the lineup leans into the lounge’s off-kilter energy. On the first Friday of RISING, 29 May, Rotterdam-based selector Karim aka Rotational, a centrifugal party-starter and dollar-bin digger, spins everything from Algerian synth-pop to deep-cut wave into sets with a gravitational pull. He’s joined by Brussels producer Naomie Klaus, performing live, whose tragico-glamorous sound moves through moves from electronica, post-punk infused dub, to languid pop. Rounding out the night are sets from the electrifying Kidskin, tripped out live dub via Front Page Leslie, reggaeton-infused low end grooves from Zalina, and interstitial sounds provided by Elsie (Skylab Radio/Public Listening Project) and Xavier (High Note/Public Listening Project).

Then on Friday 5 June, the lounge sinks deeper. Netherlands-based Nicolini, an aficionado of ‘penni funk’, brings hyper-rhythmic live sets that feel like a pirate radio broadcast from a car park party—blown-out bass, pitched vocal chops and fever-dream Dembow. He’s joined by electro-femme pioneer Artificial (Nicole Skeltys), drawing on three decades of sound and experimentation. Carrying the night through to the early hours is Ed Kent, alongside back-to-back sets from local DJs and radio hosts Bridget Small with Sofay, and Emelyne with Kassie.

A new addition to the RISING map, Bass Lounge is a late-night haunt designed for post-show drift and deep dancefloor immersion, a place to disappear into sound, community and the city’s after-dark edge.

DANCE CLASSES AND MASS PARTICIPATION

RISING also expands its participatory program with the announcement of the full lineup and schedule for Land of 1000 Dances, set to reopen the historic Flinders Street Station Ballroom and Gymnasium as a living dance academy. From Narre Warren to Northcote, Melton to Merri-Bek, Frankston to Footscray, dance schools, crews and choreographers from across Victoria are training it into Flinders Street Station to teach classes in the iconic surrounds of Melbourne’s most famous, and mysterious ballroom with classes spanning ballet, jazz, voguing, Polyswagg and more.

Award-winning performer Joshinder Chaggar leads high-energy Bollywood sessions, while Country Struts return to RISING with their crowd-favourite boot scootin’ and a live band–backed bush dance. Elsewhere, Melbourne Shuffle pioneers trace the roots of the city’s globally recognised rave-born style, while Chantal Bala aka Tejan Diesel Revlon leads voguing sessions grounded in expression, confidence and community and international dance icons The Royal Family Dance Crew treat fans to a rare Polyswagg workshop.

Alongside these highlights, a suite of classes for younger dancers including ballet, contemporary dance and K-pop opens the program to the next generation, while a mix of styles invites audiences of all ages and experience levels onto the floor.

Extending beyond the theatre, these additions reinforce the inaugural Australian Dance Biennale as a national platform that moves between performance, club culture and community participation.

MUSIC SUPPORTS AND NEW COLLABORATIONS

Across the program, a newly announced suite of supports strengthens the music offerings, pairing international headliners with a deep bench of local and global artists.

Tokyo-via-Manhattan rapper and artist Nina Utashiro joins TR/ST at Hamer Hall. Working across trap, pop and metal, Utashiro delivers sharp, villain-coded flows that take a bird’s-eye view of Japanese society.

At Festival Hall, rap icon Lil’ Kim is joined by Dutty Worldwide, a collective bringing high-energy, community-driven club sounds that centre queer, trans, Black, Indigenous and POC dancefloor cultures. Also on the lineup is Soju Gang, a proud Gunai/Kurnai, Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri artist and Naarm nightlife mainstay, known for her shapeshifting DJ sets spanning old school hip hop, R&B, baile flips and jersey club.

At Max Watt’s, Nashville alt-rockers Wednesday are supported across two nights by distinct local voices. Alien Nosejob brings the formidable fuzz of a project that has evolved from a genreless bedroom recording experiment into a full six-piece band, spanning punk-adjacent sounds. Then for the second show, Season 2 featuring members of Parsnip, The Stroppies and Phil and the Tiles, deliver a tightly constructed, melody-driven set shaped by hooks, drones and rhythmic interplay.

Elsewhere, at Melbourne Recital Centre, anaiis is joined by Bumpy, the Naarm-based Noongar soul artist with a tender yet powerful voice, with a shimmering contemporary sound that draws on folk, funk and jazz.

Promising an Afrobeat juggernaut of an evening at Hamer Hall, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 are supported by Naarm’s Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, delivering their patented percussive, high-energy sound that blends pan-African influences with local and hip hop elements, presented in collaboration with PBS FM’s Stani Goma.

And Cate Le Bon is joined by Naarm-born songwriter Georgia Knight, whose work draws on autoharp-led compositions, moving through folk, trip-hop, noise and synth textures to create dark, cinematic pop.

Award-winning Noongar soul artist Bumpy will be supporting anaiis at Melbourne Recital Centre

FIRST PEOPLES: ART, LEGACY TRAM AND PUBLIC PROGRAMS

First Peoples-led work extends across RISING in 2026, spanning major public art, projection and participatory programs throughout the city.

Presented in partnership with RISING, Transport Victoria and Yarra Trams, the First Peoples Melbourne Art Trams return in 2026 bringing the power of the Blak imagination to the tracks. Curated by Taungurung woman Kate ten Buuren, this year’s edition will see six trams transformed into moving canvases across the city during RISING and remaining on the network for 12 months.

This year also introduces Wadawurrung Elder and senior artist Marlene Gilson OAM as the Legacy Tram artist. Her multi-figure paintings reclaim and reframe histories of Country, embedding cultural knowledge and storytelling into the public realm. Her work, exhibited from Ballarat to the Venice Biennale, brings a powerful intergenerational perspective to the project.

The newly announced Legacy Tram artist adds to the previously announced lineup of artists including Natasha Carter (Dja Dja Wurrung, Yorta Yorta and Jaru), Mitch Mahoney (Boonwurrung and Barkindji), Jenna Mayilema Lee (Larrakia, KarraJarri, Wardaman), Zena Zada Cumpston (Barkandji/Kurnu) and Sonja Hodge (Lardil).

An exciting new series of public programs will accompany the Trams, in Blak Art on the Move which invites audiences to go deeper into the work with artist talks, workshops and public art tours offering insight into the ideas and histories behind the Trams.

In this series of public programs, you’ll hear directly from this year’s artists about their works, and the curator about the history and enduring significance of First Peoples public art. There are a range of ways to get involved, from hands-on printmaking workshops, artist talks, a hop-on hop-off public art tour along the tram network and more. These activities will run between Saturday 30 May until Monday 8 June.

At Hamer Hall, Calling Country: The Land Speaks Back illuminates the expansive façade with a large-scale projection series centring Indigenous perspectives on land, language and more-than-human connection.

Newly announced works by the Djirri Djirri Women’s Dance Group, Traditional Custodians of Narrm and surrounds, bring Wurundjeri ceremony to the fore. Meaning “Willy Wagtail” in Woiwurrung, Djirri Djirri present the Wominjeka (Welcome to Country) dance filmed beneath Victoria’s Mountain Ash forests, alongside a work centred on Bulin Bulin, the lyrebird and keeper of language. Through song, story and movement, these works speak to creation, care for Country and the layered relationships between land, culture and bird kin.

The series spans local and international First Peoples artists, exploring transnational connections and reciprocal relationships with land, and launches with a work by Cannupa Hanska Luger. Born on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation and an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold and is Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara and Lakota, Luger creates large-scale installations and performances that offer new ways of seeing our shared humanity while centering an Indigenous worldviews. Following his monumental Times Square work Midéegaadi, he brings a new iteration to Naarm, that envisions the regeneration and return of the North American bison through a speculative ancestral time-space world. Incorporating traditional dance and new regalia the work speaks to the return to land and care for Country and animal kin.

First Peoples Melbourne Art Trams

These new additions build on a program anchored by the inaugural Australian Dance Biennale, which expands across stages, clubs and public space, from the return of Chunky Move’s landmark Glow to Oona Doherty’s Hard to Be Soft: A Belfast Prayer and a city-wide invitation to move through participatory works like Land of 1000 Dances and the closing-night Town Hall takeover Sissy Ball. Other highlights of the performance program include major international works from Florentina Holzinger’s new epic A Year Without Summer to Narcissister’s large-scale Rube-Goldberg spectacle Voyage Into Infinity. Elsewhere in the music program, Day Tripper’s multi-room music marathon unfolds across multiple venues, and city-spanning moments from St Paul’s Cathedral hosting Raven Chacon’s Voiceless Mass to ACMI’s The Vinyl Factory: Reverb reinforce the breadth of RISING across dance, music, performance and visual art.

BECCA HATCH Enters a New Era with Powerful New Single, Garden

Sydney-based Kamilaroi/Samoan artist Becca Hatch returns with her highly anticipated new single Garden (Bang Goes the Drum). Co-written with Sean Kenihan of Northeast Party House, the track explores trust, vulnerability, and the delicate tension of letting someone into her world. Garden (Bang Goes the Drum) marks the first single from her upcoming Black Flower Project, an evolving body of work dedicated to Becca’s growth, self-discovery, and artistic evolution, capturing her stepping into a bold new era both sonically and personally.

Garden (Bang Goes the Drum) is a song about trust and vulnerability. We all carry a garden inside us; a place where love, growth, and possibility can bloom. But opening that space to someone else comes with uncertainty. Will they care for it, or will they damage what you’ve built? The song lives in the tension of choice and risk, in the moment of deciding whether to let someone in. A garden can mean many things: our relationships, our communities, our emotions, our bodies. And sometimes, as much as we want to share, we also have to learn how to protect what’s sacred.

“After spending the last year locking in on making new music, I found myself in the studio with Sean Kenihan (Northeast Party House). Immediately, we clicked, and started fleshing out this track. I’m so excited to be entering this new era, and cannot wait to show everyone all that we’ve been working on,” Becca Hatch shares.

The single is mixed by Cam Parkin, mastered by Klaus Hill, and features a standout saxophone solo by Andre Lew, adding rich texture to Becca’s signature blend of R&B and dance-pop.

Becca Hatch broke through with her debut single 2560 and the acclaimed MAYDAY EP, earning ARIA and APRA nominations as well as the 2024 NIMA Award for Best Breakthrough Artist. Personally selected to perform her original verse for We Pray with Coldplay during two sold-out Sydney stadium shows in late 2024, Becca performed to crowds of over 80,000, cementing her status as a global rising force.

Her elite touring history includes primary support for international superstars Tinashe (US) and Mahalia (UK) on their Australian tours, alongside major festival slots including Beyond The Valley, Strawberry Fields, and the NRL Half Time Tigers Vs Roosters.

Winner of the 2025 APRA Professional Development Award and the 2024 NIMA Award for Best Breakthrough Artist, Becca also holds multiple ARIA nominations, including a 2024 nod for Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist.

Becca’s music has consistently resonated on digital platforms and top-tier playlists, including New Music Friday, Big Energy, Turn Up AUS, RnB Feels, Deadly Beats, Ancestor Energy, Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Dance, Women of AU & NZ, Front Left.

The Black Flower Project, of which Garden (Bang Goes the Drum) is the first release, explores the journey of a young Aboriginal/Samoan woman navigating growth, self-discovery, and taking up space in a world that was never designed to hold women of colour gently. Collaborators across the project include Beso Palma, MXXWLL, Lucy Blomkamp, and Sean Kenihan, with each single shedding light on themes of becoming, unfolding, and resilience.

Becca will tour throughout 2026 to support the singles from the Black Flower Project, including a highly anticipated live debut on March 8 as part of her new show, alongside performances at Golden Plains Festival and further headline dates to be announced.

MORTIIS & NYTT LAND
ANNOUNCE THE SOUTHERN RITUAL TOUR
with Special Guest, Tir
NOVEMBER 2026

Hardline Media are proud present a dual headline tour, from the Cold Dark Depths of Norway and Siberia featuring MORTIIS and NYTT LAND, with special guest TiR from Türkiye, performing their SOUTHERN RITUAL in late November across Australia.

MORTIIS needs no introduction to the Metal world, famous for being the bass player in early EMPEROR, Mortiis has since carved a long and respected career in the Dark Dungeon Synth world for the last 3 + decades. Mortiis has performed in Australia before as a solo one man show, but this time Australia will be treated to something very special… he will be bringing his band with him for the very first time, performing songs from “The Smell Of Rain” album and other volumes of Dystopian Despair. This is a first and not to be missed.

Check out new MORTIIS – “Ghosts Of Europa”
https://youtu.be/PQcBobUAwsE

As joint headline and for their first time in Australia, Hardline prouldy present NYTT LAND from Siberia. A phenomenal aural and visual experience.

The band’s style has been compared to that of Wardruna and Danheim with added traditional throat singing and handmade traditional instruments such as the Kantele and the Talharpa. Their music has been variously described by reviewers as ‘truly authentic feeling’, ‘dark and mystical’ and as ‘keeping history alive’. Thematically, their work echoes many stories from Norse mythology and historic texts such as the Poetic Edda. In keeping with this tradition, much of Nytt Land’s lyrics are composed and sung in the Old Norse language. See them for the first time in Australia, performing the “Aba Kahn” album and “Siberian Era” started on “Ritual”.

As National support, Hardline welcome TiR. Originally hailing from Türkiye, TiR are a Dungeon Synth Folk project helmed by multi-instrumentalist and composer Oytun Bektas. For over a decade, TiR has carved a distinct artistic path where ancient melancholy and pastoral introspection merge into a cinematic soundscape that bridges the past and the universal.

CONJURER Reveal New Live Video ‘The Searing Glow’

British metal heavy weights CONJURER have unveiled a new live video for ‘The Searing Glow’, recorded at their sold-out November 2025 London headline show at The Underworld.

Watch: https://youtu.be/PaRMMHO6sxU

The band comment: “Headlining, let alone selling out, The Underworld was one of the last milestones we had left for this band. From seeing Yob level the place on September 8th 2014 and deciding that night that we had to make this band happen, it’s been a long time coming. Naturally, we’d want to document the occasion so we enlisted our trusty videographer Joe Guppy to get some multicam footage and here it is: ‘The Searing Glow’, from our album Unself, live at The Underworld, London.”

Conjurer – The Searing Glow (Live In London)

CONJURER have evolved radically since the release of their debut album (Mire, 2018), and their second release (Páthos, 2022) saw them lauded among the most exciting British metal bands. Whilst award nominations and accolades accumulated, the four-piece band retained their very simple mission: to make heavy music and have fun whilst doing so. Preferring to use their spotlight to showcase technicality and musicality rather than centring politics or opinions, CONJURER lived in the moment and embraced everything that came their way.

Within the tumult of forging a renewed identity as a band, on Unself there is a more intense, more personal voyage of discovery unfurling for vocalist/guitarist Dani Nightingale. Diagnosed with autism at age 31, their long-held view of self, and perception of their place in the world began to unravel. Unself documents much of the piecing back together around the diagnosis, alongside the realisation they were non-binary.

These vignettes of processing and self-actualisation take place against the backdrop of a society careening towards glassy-eyed capitalist dystopia; finding firm footing eludes many of us – and CONJURER delve headfirst into exploring these suffocating new societal parameters.

Within Unself’s nine tracks, CONJURER deliver the writhing post-metal sound they’ve become known for, but have loosened their grip on the desire to fill every moment with sonic obliteration. Instead, they have leaned into utilising space, gifting listeners a little breathing room which serves to make the heavy elements feel all the more intense.

A more direct, organic approach to songwriting was facilitated by the ever-strengthening bonds within the band, and the supportive environment created by producer Joe Clayton. Allowing themselves more time than with any previous recording experience, they committed to preproduction sessions, followed by an elongated recording period in order to do justice to the material they had crafted. Stripping back the excesses of previous outings to reveal their solid songwriting chops allowed for more clarity and more dynamics to shine through. To their ears, the mood, the core of the lyrical content and the music are more aligned than ever before.

This record is the sound of four individuals living with more purpose and as a consequence creating with more purpose. Unself sees them reaching out to offer community, catharsis and connection. CONJURER remain true to their original mission – they’re still having fun, playing interesting heavy music – but now that music is imbued with the power that comes from opening themselves up to others, at first within the band, and now beyond.

THE NARRATOR Release Video For New Single ‘Agnosia’

Modern metalcore powerhouse THE NARRATOR returns with a striking new music video for their latest single, ‘Agnosia,’ taken from their forthcoming sophomore album Phosphor. The track further showcases the band’s evolving sound and artistic depth.

‘Agnosia’ captivates listeners from the outset with haunting clean vocals, gradually building tension before erupting into a powerful, breakdown-driven metalcore anthem, elevated by an undeniably infectious chorus.

On a thematic level, the song delves into emotional numbness, inner turmoil, and the longing to be understood. It paints a vivid portrait of pain, isolation, and self-destructive tendencies, ultimately blurring the line between suffering and identity.

THE NARRATOR’s highly anticipated new album, Phosphor, will be released on May 8th, 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to their acclaimed debut album Lore offers ten smashing songs that respond to the global crisis with inner exhaustion and shows how close hope and self-destruction are to each other.

THE NARRATOR navigate the weight of time & the haunting awareness of life’s impermanence. A masterclass in modern metal!

DAVE GRANEY AND CLARE MOORE RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE ‘I AIN’T GOT NO FLOAT’ FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM LABURNUM OF THE MIND

ALBUM RELEASED APRIL 30, 2026

DOWNLOAD SINGLE ‘I AIN’T GOT NO FLOAT’

Dave Graney and Clare Moore return with their latest single ‘I Ain’t Got No Float’, the second taste from their upcoming album LABURNUM OF THE MIND (out April 30),

Described as “an R&B groover with a drop D funk chugg to it. Rhythmic switchbacks and asides that summon the very Dan. Lots of space to it and some post punk white pepper on those clean, asymmetrical guitar licks. Clare Moore rocking straight through it like Bonzo or Paul Cook.”

Featuring:

Dave Graney on guitars and bass and vocals.
Clare Moore on drums, keyboard and backing vocals.

The accompanying video, shot by Dave Graney and Will Hindmarsh (aka Twinkle Digitz), captures performances at Will’s studio alongside scenes filmed around Boronia Mall, with background images by Tony Mahony.

The Australian-made 1960s Vibralux GA12 guitar amplifier was sourced by John Brown, Tasmania.

‘I Ain’t Got No Float’ follows on from recent single ‘Hits Are The Worst’ which has already been picking up strong support across community radio stations nationwide.

WATCH the official video for ‘I Ain’t Got No Float’

Of the forthcoming album, Dave and Clare are calling it what it is: a rock record.  As they explain: “When we say “rock”, I guess we would be thinking of The Doors, Wire, Urge Overkill, Steely Dan, Queens Of the Stone Age, The Replacements, Pulp, Roxy Music, The Fall, The Blue Oyster Cult, and those kinds of tones. Those kinds of lyrical flights and suspensions. Bo Diddley and Latin beats and diminished and augmented chords. Expensive inversions. Flash stuff. Though there is also a lot of dumb, irrational, loose and goofy as well”.

The first seven tracks are all pretty upbeat and in the pocket grooves. Backbeats abound. Then it gets freaky with the title track, Laburnum Of The Mind, and the diss song from out of time, Little Bands Suck.

All instruments are played by Dave Graney and Clare Moore with mistLY guitarist Stuart Perera guesting on two tracks. Recorded in Melbourne at Soundpark with Idge, the album was mixed by Dave Graney and Clare Moore and mastered by Idge.

And for those wondering where the album title came from?  “Laburnum is a stop on the Belgrave train line from the CBD to the outer suburbs of South East Melbourne. Not a suburb, a stop”.

I Ain’t Got No Float and Hits Are The Worst are out now.

ALBUM – Laburnum Of The Mind – will be released on April 30, 2026, and will be available on Vinyl, CD, and all streaming platforms.

Australian rap powerhouse Hooligan Hefs has dropped his new single ‘Sixth Sense’, serving as the cinematic intro to his upcoming album of the same name, set for release on 26th June 2026. Evolving from its early concept, ‘Sixth Sense’ emerges as a cinematic album opener, combining deep lyricism with the high‑impact production that defines the record. The track sets a bold tone for the project, which spans nine songs and features two  ARIA- charting singles – ‘She Will’ featuring Day1 and ‘Whistle’ featuring Savage – alongside collaborations with Youngn Lipz and UK rap legend Wiley. The album balances upbeat anthems with introspective moments and motivational punchlines, exploring themes of struggle, desire and evolution through Hefs’ distinctive voice.

Hailing from Doonside in Western Sydney, Hooligan Hefs has risen to become one of Australia’s most influential rap exports. Renowned for his raw storytelling and unapologetic authenticity, he has amassed over 500 million catalogue streams globally and earned multiple platinum and gold certifications. His breakout single ‘No Effect’ announced him as a major force in Australian hip hop, while the smash hit ‘SEND IT!’ cemented his commercial impact, dominating streaming platforms and becoming a staple on club and festival stages nationwide. TOM WEST ‘PETRA’ (SINGLE)

Tom West is an Australian singer, guitarist and songwriter known for his distinctive, androgynous vocal style, fingerpicked guitar, and immersive, story-driven live shows.

Raised among the hills and surf-worn coast of South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula, his journey has taken him across Australia and the United States—touring as a musician, tour bus driver, entertainer and guide.

Post-pandemic, West found himself in Chicago, collaborating with some of the city’s finest musicians. From a third-floor bedroom in a historic brownstone, he spent two years writing, recording and producing—absorbing the spirit of the city and pushing deeper into his craft than ever before.

Now, back home in Adelaide, West is preparing to release new music shaped by travels from the Oodnadatta Track to the I-65 and beyond—songs of long roads, small victories, big disappointments, friendships, and a new adventure into fatherhood. Expect music that is emotionally rich, lighter and more curious than his earlier work, still humming with a quiet, strange wonder.

About the “Chicago, 3 August ‘25” project:

Recordings from a spontaneous live recording session that took place in Chicago on 3 August 2025 with Tom West and Ethan Philion.

Some of Tom’s most loved and road tested songs recorded (finally) in a stripped back format alongside Chicago’s Ethan Philion on double bass.

Ethan Philion is an award-winning bassist, composer, and bandleader based in Chicago. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and DePaul University,  Philion has been praised by the Washington Post for his “well honed chops and astounding musicality” and his debut album, Meditations on Mingus, was commended as “a labor of conspicuous love and respect for a musical titan” by Downbeat Magazine.

Of this album release show Tom says: “In August last year I spent a day at Chicago’s Shirk studios recording some of my songs in a stripped back and raw format with Ethan Philion on double bass. Playing live in a stripped back acoustic format is my bread and butter type of gig and prior t this recording session I felt like a lot of my favourite songs to play were spread out over multiple releases with different band arrangements. It felt like it was high time to get some recordings that were reflective of the type of gig I play most nights. So, now, I’m releasing these recordings in the form of a new live album. Ethan will be travelling from Chicago to perform the songs on tour dates in May 2026 with Liv Cartledge, which is a real treat! Love to see you x”

About the “Petra” song Tom says:

This song goes back a while, written on the spot during a recording session in 2016, previously released as a field recording.

As one of my favorite songs to play live I wanted to play it at this session at Shirk’s. Singing the first verse without guitar was Ethan’s idea, and I really love how it worked out. This was the last song we played after about 5 or 6 hours of continuous takes across the day, you can hear my voice finally give out at the end of this song.

Lovetown was Stephen’s third solo album and was originally released on the indie label Rampant. The album was recorded on an 8-track studio in Hawthorn owned by John Rees from Men At Work and it was the first time that Stephen recorded with longtime collaborators, guitarist Shane O’Mara and vocalist Rebecca Barnard. Steve Hadley played double bass, Peter Luscombe contributed “drum sounds” and Andrew Pendlebury, Stephen’s long-time writing partner and fellow ex-member of Sports, played most of the guitars and co-wrote most of the songs.

“I was aiming at a sound like John Martyn on his classic ’70s album Solid Air,” Stephen later said. “Because we were limited to eight tracks, the songs had to be methodically worked out ahead of the recording. For some unfathomable reason, I was also interested in the idea of using a basic drum machine against the acoustic guitars.”

“Lovetown had a good feeling to it. It was done for the right reasons and motives. I just wanted to make that record. I wasn’t thinking it was gonna be a big success or anything. It was more like I had the idea of that sound, that sort of sound I thought was like me.”

The album featured the single “Some Prayers Are Answered” which was picked up by commercial radio, and the album itself was universally praised by critics. It ended up topping the Rolling Stone “critics’ picks”, and later, in Australian Rolling Stone’s list of the Top 100 albums of the ’80s, Lovetown was listed at #38.

Showing how well it aged, Lovetown came in at #40 in Craig Mathieson, John O’Donnell, and Toby Creswell’s 2010 book 100 Best Australian Albums. In a 2008 “50 Best Australian Albums of the Last 50 Years” feature in Melbourne’s The Age it also appeared at #40, with Jeff Jenkins saying “Lovetown is the sound of Melbourne melancholia; “everything that you see is just a memory”, Cummings sings. He’s never made a bad album, but this is his masterpiece.”

Lovetown will be available on limited edition purple 12″ vinyl (100 only), black 12″ vinyl and digitally via Bandcamp. It is available to pre-order now from

STEPHEN CUMMINGS LOVETOWN

Side A

1.    “Everybody Wants to Get to Heaven But Nobody Wants to Die”
2.    “My Willingness”
3.    “If You Don’t Want My Love”
4.    “When Trouble Comes”
5.    “Where Are You Going”

Side B

1.    “You Jane”
2.    “Some Prayers Are Answered”
3.    “She Sets Fire to the House”
4.    “Push It Up, All Falls Down”
5.    “Viva Las Vegas”

All song by Stephen Cummings/Andrew Pendlebury, except A3 Stephen Cummings/Dean Richards, B1 Cummings, and B5 Doc Pomus/Mort Shuman

“Lovetown was as uncluttered, heartfelt and impacting as only the best music can be. Intentionally eschewing almost all studio dressing, Cummings relied on acoustic guitars, double bass and minimal percussion to flesh out his emotion-charged vignettes. The result was an album with the first-take honesty and freshness that marked such master works as Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks and Neil Young’s Tonight’s The Night.

The stripped back arrangements placed a strong emphasis on the song, and Cummings’ voice. Here the predominantly Cummings/Pendlebury penned tunes stood up to the closest scrutiny. The lyrics on the brilliant “Everybody Wants To Get To Heaven But Nobody Wants To Die”, “She Set Fire To The House” and “Push It Up All Fall Down” consistently hit the spot as they incisively documented relationships on the skids. These songs were made to be presented in a loose, and traditional format. They had a remarkable, timeless presence.

Cummings’ vocals were Lovetown’s crowning glory. The guy is blessed with a great voice, but it’s the way that he used it that left you reeling. His delivery was in turn intense, sad, pleading, and enthusiastic and it always complemented and enhanced the lyric’s intent. Lovetown easily eclipsed his previous solo records, and even surpassed the Sports’ best, and that’s no mean feat.”

– John O’Donnell, Rolling Stone

Stephen returns to George Lane in St Kilda for one Melbourne show only to celebrate the release of his new EP Joy which features profoundly moving reinterpretations of four of his favourite Australian songs: “Living in the Balance” (originally by Dag, 2021), “Unfamiliar Ground” (Jess Ribeiro, 2015), “No Word from China” (Pel Mel, 1980) and “Fly Without Its Wings” (Mike Rudd’s Spectrum, 1971).

The announcement coincides with the release of a beautiful new video for “Living in the Balance” which was made by Mark Bakaitis and shot primarily in and around the massive Heavenly Queen Temple. The largest Taoist temple in Australia, the temple was built in honour of the Goddess of the Sea, Mazu, and is situated by the Maribyrnong River in Footscray in Melbourne’s inner west.

With a full band comprising bandmates old and new – Sam Lemann, Robert Goodge (Essendon Airport, I’m Talking), Maxine Sutcliffe, Michael Davis, Graham Lee (Triffids, Paul Kelly, Essendon Airport) and Leah and Andi Senior – Stephen will launch the EP with a matinee live show that includes the four songs that make up the EP together with selections from his beloved 1989 album Lovetown and other favorites.

Leah Senior, who has been described by US site Raven Sings the Blues as a singer/songwriter who, “more than many of her peers, truly embraces the spiraling introspection of Mitchell, King, Sill, and Crosby” will open the show with a set of her own before joining Stephen on stage.

Stephen Cummings – Living in the Balance

STEPHEN CUMMINGS JOY EP

Cheersquad Records & Tapes is proud to announce the release of Joy, a brand new 4–track EP from Stephen Cummings, on vinyl and digital formats.

Joy revisits songs originally recorded at various times between 1971 and 2021 by four iconic Australian acts — Spectrum, Pel Mel, Jess Ribeiro and Dag — but here they are reborn through Cummings’ interpretations, newly recorded in 2025.

Produced by longtime collaborator Robert Goodge, these versions carry Stephen’s unmistakable voice and presence, enriched by an extraordinary ensemble:
•    Stephen Cummings — vocals
•    Leah & Andi Senior — harmony vocals
•    Robert Goodge — acoustic guitar, mandolin, keyboards
•    Sam Lemann — acoustic & electric guitars
•    Graham Lee — pedal steel
•    Bill McDonald — bass, keyboard sounds
•    Michael Davis — drums & percussion

The EP’s four tracks span five decades of Australian songwriting:
1.    Living in the Balance (Dusty Anastassiou, 2021 – originally by Dag)
2.    Unfamiliar Ground (Jess Ribeiro, 2015)
3.    No Word from China (Jude McGee & Graeme Dunne, 1980 – originally by Pel Mel)
4.    Fly Without Its Wings (Mike Rudd, 1971 – originally by Spectrum)

The result is a record that bridges generations of Australian music with fresh intimacy and resonance. The dreamy harmonies of sisters Leah and Andi Senior add an ethereal texture that lifts Cummings’ interpretations into luminous new territory. Joy is both a tribute and a reinvention, breathing new life into remarkable songs and carrying them forward in Stephen Cummings’ deeply personal style.

NAT PAVLOVIC SHARES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘BIG HEART’ + ANNOUNCES MELBOURNE & SYDNEY SHOWS. ALBUM OUT THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 17

Beloved Naarm musician and label head, Nat Pavlovic’s new album, Big Heart is out this Friday April 17 on her own label, Blossom Rot Records. Ahead of the release, Nat Pavlovic shares new title track single, ‘Big Heart’ – a shimmering lament to authenticity, truth and making good on the promises we make to ourselves. Nat shares, “Big Heart is really the heart of the album. It’s about not wanting to feel one way then say another; a big heart doesn’t mean nothing if I’ve got a fake tongue.”

The track arrives alongside a music video, filmed at Bakehouse Studios and directed and produced by Caity Moloney & Tom Mannion. In the video, we see Nat rehearsing multiple characters in a lo-fi theatrical set, trying on different costumes and physicalities that play on different aspects of herself, and blurring the line between truth and performance in the process.

Today she also announces shows in both Melbourne and Sydney in April/May, including a live in-store at Rocksteady Records for Record Store Day.

New album, Big Heart, is an introspective exploration of love in all its forms: for friends, for family, for lovers, for self. Featuring Jen Sholakis (Jen Cloher, EBAGC) on drums, Anika Ostendorf (Hachiku) on bass and Snowy on guitar, Pavlovic has crafted a family band of all-stars who’ve all contributed to the recording process and will form her live band with the addition of Ellie Ware on guitar. All songs are mixed by Snowy and mastered by Nao Anzai (The Belair Lipbombs, The Teskey Brothers), with additional vocals by Emma Russack and Ada Duffy and strings by Chloe Sanger.

Album singles ‘Lucky’, ‘Thirty Flirty’ and ‘Promise To Try’, marry the soothing folk-adjacent style heard on her 2021 surprise-drop debut solo record, You Can’t Take It When You’re Gone, with expanded elements, exploring synths and drum machines. Pavlovic’s enticing, distorted vocal delivery flows like a diary entry, evoking a sense of living-room intimacy and tender connection, balancing grit and texture with space with epic washes of sound.

After growing up in the hills of Perth, surrounded by bush and birds and bugs, at 18, Pavlovic moved to the big smoke, immersing herself in the Perth music scene. “Slowly fighting my way in with my band, Dianas. There weren’t many girl bands in Perth back then, I could count them on one hand. But there was a community there and we were part of it.”

In 2015, Nat moved to Naarm to study sound and was inspired to launch her own indie record label, Blossom Rot Records, alongside co-founder Sophie McComish (Body Type). The label has become home to artists such as Loose Tooth, Cool Sounds, The Vovos, Bad Bangs and Snowy Band. Nat is also an international touring musician for artists such as Jen Cloher, RVG, and Hachiku, a manager at Naarm’s Bakehouse Studios, and a founding member of Dianas.

Big Heart by Nat Pavolic is out April 17 on Blossom Rot Records.

ARCHERS DROP VISUALIZER FOR NEW SINGLE SAY SO

Co-written and co-produced by Erik Ron (Bad Omens, From Ashes to New, Motionless in White) and Jon Eberhard (I Prevail, Wind Walkers, Hollywood Undead, Sleeping with Sirens), the song deftly demonstrates the band’s mastery of dynamics. The moody verses collide into the explosive and frenetic choruses and a ballistic breakdown, making for a overall thrilling listen.

“Say So is a song about the frustration of knowing a relationship is coming to an end,” offers the band. “Knowing that and wanting to rip the band-aid off instead of simply waiting for the inevitable.”

Archers are returning to the road this month, heading to Europe for a run of performances. They will also appear at Welcome to Rockville in the U.S. next month, in addition to Inkcarceration in July and Louder Than Life in September.

SAY SO follows THE DIRT, the band’s debut single for the label. Watch the video here.

STREAM SAY SO HERE

About Archers:
ARCHERS have emerged out of forgotten corners of the country, resonating with fans worldwide through sheer determination and unapologetic honesty. The Wisconsin-bred trio has quietly carved a path of its own, fueled by a hybrid of high-octane, pit-splitting metalcore and melodies spiked with pop precision. For their first half-decade together, the band fought to be heard, independently dropping 2015’s Cuts & Bruises and tracks like The Hills. They picked up momentum with Bleed For This and Close To Me, as well as a plethora of shows.

Stuck at home throughout 2020, blackmarketmonkeymagic cracked 1 million Spotify streams and powered the New Normal EP. Despite the distance, the band made a lasting connection by livestreaming on social media at least once per week, pulling back the curtain on rehearsals, answering fan questions, hosting merch drops, and even simply hanging out. This engagement gave rise to what has become known as the “ARCHERS Assemble Super Soft Posting Group,” representing over 2,500-strong of their faithful.

2024’s All That I Have Left EP spawned the likes of Drag Me Out, Stay This Sober, and Bitter —which eclipsed 10 million-plus streams. Beyond hitting the road with Asking Alexandria, From Ashes to New, and Magnolia Park, they packed houses on both sides of the pond as a headliner. Following 2025’s Temporary High EP, the band decamped to Los Angeles with producer Erik Ron and jumped into the next sonic era. Now, ARCHERS take flight with a series of 2026 singles and their forthcoming debut for Fearless Records.

Hana & Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits release their new single ‘Pity Party’ from the band’s forthcoming third album, and announce a tour throughout May 2026 across VIC, ACT, NSW and SA.

Following two years of extensive touring and festival appearances in support of their award-winning album Say What You Mean, Hana & Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits returned directly to the studio to begin work on their highly anticipated third album, due for release in 2027. The first single from the forthcoming record, Pity Party (out today on all streaming platforms), explores a subtle shift in sonic and melodic direction whilst retaining their signature sound, anchored by Jessie-Lee’s reverb-laden green Gretsch and Hana’s natural grit and warmth.

Recorded in Collingwood at the Rat Shack with Rob Muinos, the song captures a sharp self-awareness of being overly self-critical and prone to self-sabotage, while pushing back against others’ sympathy or interference. Its opening lines “Good luck, go well, that’s what I say to fool myself / It’s fine, you’ll survive, motivational phrases cut like knives” speak directly to this tension: the instinct to lean on empty platitudes while quietly wanting to rip the “live, laugh, love” poster off the wall, even knowing it’s all self-inflicted.

“We booked the studio on a whim in the middle of a 22-date national tour with Mick Thomas in November/ December 2025, road-testing a stack of new songs. Two days with Rob, three tracks down, and the moment we played them back, Pity Party felt like the obvious first single”.  – Hana

In the past year, the rhythm section has shifted, with Julia Watt returning to drums and Kate Alexander taking the reins on bass, both multi-instrumentalists and songwriters who also played on Bad Habits’ debut album Southlands.

Hana and Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits are getting straight back out on the road to promote their new single with a mini tour.  More information and tickets are available at hanaandjessielee.com

The Delta Generators have presented a second official music video in front of the global release of their new studio album ON & ON coming May 22. To view the self-produced by vocalist Brian Templeton for “Mr. Vain,” click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=mLc8KXxyZ6s&ra=m.  Timed to the the album announcement, the band presented “I Got You,” which can be screened here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2bo979eqWE.

Front man Templeton shares, “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity’ is a famous refrain from the Bible’s Book of Ecclesiastes, often attributed to King Solomon. It signifies that human effort, labor, and pleasure ‘under the sun’ are fleeting, meaningless, and ultimately empty, akin to chasing the wind, especially without a focus on God.”

Real music by real people, played live and recorded live. This best embodies the philosophy of

established Boston band Delta Generators and their approach for their latest record ON & ON.  In an industry where technology has become the standard and intelligence has become artificial, Delta Generators are keeping it real and will continue to do so going forward. All the songs on this record were written, arranged and rehearsed over a period of eight days and then recorded in two days at Power Station N.E. in Waterford, CT by Evan Bakke, best known for his work with Warren Haynes and Prince. The idea was to get together, play and when something feels right, work it! No preconceived ideas as to what it should be. A journey of liberation, inspiration and perspiration. Yeah, Blues is the vehicle, but their lifelong love of rock music is the fuel that powers it.

Brothers Charlie and Rick O’Neal, on guitar and bass respectively, have been playing together since their teenage years. Most notably as members of Benjamin Orr’s band, former singer and

bass player with The Cars. Sometimes they would go off and do other projects, Charlie toured with UK band Must and Rick played in Boston guitar hero Johnny A’s band, but inevitably they

would play together again and again. Charlie had been playing in rock bands throughout his early years, but he was always a huge fan of Blues guitar. He spent years honing his abilities

by playing along with records. When the opportunity presented itself for a Blues driven side project, he was all in. That moment altered his future, placing him in the position to celebrate his passion for personal heroes like Elmore James, Freddie King and Albert Collins.

When the ensemble was first conceived, a lover of R&B and Soul named Craig Rawding took the mic as the original front man. Charlie O’Neal brought on his brother Rick as the bassist. And in 2007, the Delta Generators were born. The initial drummer had to bail after a few months, so up-and-coming percussionist Jeff Armstrong was brought into the fold. By 2008, it was no longer a side project, and they captured the win at the Boston Blues Challenge. They went on to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge where they almost took the top spot.

From there the band went on to forge a solid place in the Boston Blues scene. They went on to record four records before Craig decided to leave the band in 2016. Enter Brian Templeton, a fixture in the local scene since 1991. His band The Radio Kings had already recorded for two labels, and he had toured all across the U.S. and Europe with them and as a solo artist. A consummate showman and lover of the spirit, Brian was rooted in the rock music of his youth and was already a seasoned Blues Man. It was a perfect fit and the rest as they say is history. “Brian lifted the DGs to a new level with his showmanship and drive,” says Charlie, “I don’t think the band would have continued if Brian hadn’t joined.” Brother Rick continues, “Besides his top-notch vocals, Brian brought a powerful stage presence and killer harmonica playing to the mix and his lyric writing is in a class all by itself.“

The new album is anything but vanilla. After all these years together, the quartet has a voice and swagger that is all their own. The new repertoire is a pure collaboration that has captured what

makes this union of these four musicians so organic and pure in its creation. Drummer Jeff Armstrong shares,  “Unlike the previous record, which was more of a compilation of great songs, this new record stands in itself as a complete cohesive work.” Guitarist Charlie O’Neal offers, ON & ON perfectly captures the live spirit of the band and is by far sonically superior to any of our previous albums.“

Delta Generators love writing and recording but they live to play live. Making a connection with their fans is the most important part of it. As Templeton says. “Making a spiritual bond with the people, our fans, is why we do what we do. There really is no other reason.”

ASHA JEFFERIES RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE ‘BACKWARDS BABY’

“Asha plays around metaphors, but also isn’t afraid to explore her emotional duality, singing over a shiny pop song, on her journey to honesty.” – The Line of Best Fit

“A deeply honest indie offering with both rock and pop undertones” – Wonderland Magazine

“Brilliant songwriter with heart and wit.” – triple j

“Asha Jefferies will tug on your heartstrings with tender lyrics about friendship, love, and figuring out the whole ‘becoming an adult’ thing” – Frankie

“With an indie-folk-pop style and a melancholic voice that puts me in mind of Billie Eilish.” – AU Review

“With 10 tracks of lush indie pop, the tender title track stands out, capturing the album’s theme of progress.” – Rolling Stone on Ego Ride

Asha Jefferies returns with a new single and video, marking her first new material of 2026. On symphonically-adorned ‘Backwards Baby,’ Asha explores her former timidity. Over an electronic drum beat and a bed of synths, Jefferies reflects on an ex-partner whose preoccupation with the past caused her to feel isolated. She waited for them to change, but doing so meant silencing her own desires.

Recorded in London and co-produced by Tom Iansek (Big Scary, Maple Glider) and Jefferies, ‘Backwards Baby’ showcases Asha’s sophisticated indie rock and folk-pop songcraft, pushing her sound into more expansive territory while remaining deeply intimate. It finds her listening closely to her desire – for love, connection, and for living freely inside her body – in an effort to feel more alive.

Asha says, “Writing this song helped me confront how tragic and difficult it is to love someone who is stuck in the past. As painful as it was to witness, I came to realise it was a pattern beyond my control, and that sometimes the way people treat you has nothing to do with you: ‘there goes my backwards baby.’”

Jefferies 2024 debut album Ego Ride, is an introspective indie rock record with a sparkling melodic immediacy. The release saw her tour extensively across the UK and Europe, playing headline shows in London, Amsterdam and Paris, alongside support slots with Courtney Barnett, Soccer Mommy, Hana Vu and Middle Kids, and showcases at The Great Escape, SXSW Austin and Reeperbahn.

Her rise has earned a Queensland Music Award and an AIR Awards nomination for Best Pop Album, and praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, Flood Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, 10 Magazine. She has also received widespread radio support, including airplay on KCRW and KEXP, and performed for triple j’s Like A Version.

‘Under The Escarpment’ Single out now via ADA Music

Josh Pyke returns with ‘Under The Escarpment’, single #2 from his forthcoming eighth studio album, Kingdom Within, produced by ARIA Award winner Chris Collins (Matt Corby), out June 12th, via ADA music.

“I started writing this song years ago” explains Josh. “When my family and I moved down the coast during COVID. We were living in a house that was shadowed by a huge sandstone escarpment in a small seaside town. Three years or so later, I stumbled upon a voice memo on my phone of a little scratch demo and revisited it. I was trying to paint a picture of a young man, ‘just a local guy’, like a protagonist in a Tim Winton novel. Full of potential, but held back by his own self-doubt and a self-conscious desire to fit in. Wanting to ‘begin’ but not knowing how.”

Josh is currently rounding out 38 intimate shows across Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, and the ACT for his Feeding the Wolves and Other Stories Regional Solo Tour.

KODALINE RELEASE BRAND NEW SINGLE ‘WE WERE ONLY YOUNG’

Kodaline have released their brand new single ‘We Were Only Young’, the first song to be taken from their fifth and final studio album due later this year via Fantasy Records. Album pre-orders start today.

‘We Were Only Young’ is a stunning reflective piano ballad rich in soaring vocal harmonies, grand orchestration and soul-stirring emotion from the beloved Irish band.

The track sees frontman songwriter Steve Garrigan join forces with producer and co-writer Mads Christensen.

LISTEN HERE / WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

Regarding the single Steve says, “‘We Were Only Young’ is a bittersweet song about looking back on better times, knowing you can’t ever go back. Like most songs I write, it comes from something real, that feeling of being part of something special, and only fully understanding it with time. In some ways, it reflects the journey we’ve been on together.”

Steve Garrigan, Vinny May, Jason Boland, and Mark Prendergast launched Kodaline in Dublin in 2012, and after over a decade together, 2026 sees Kodaline drawing to a close their celebrated chart-topping career which has connected them with fans across the globe.

They skyrocketed to international fame with their 2013 debut album In A Perfect World, which topped the Irish charts going double platinum, also turning platinum in the UK at No.3, alongside several international radio hits. Kodaline continued to dominate domestic charts and prove global streaming and radio sensations across their following four albums. Now for Record Store Day 2026 (April 18th) In A Perfect World is revisited and expanded to a 2LP pressing, with many songs from the album pressed to vinyl for the first time.

The final chapter of Kodaline is both reflective and progressive, a celebration of their career alongside the birth of brand new music. This will be reflected in their extensive Farewell Tour for 2026, with shows set to mark the very best and fan favourites of Kodaline as well as songs from their final studio album.

The tour launches in June with Kodaline performing to 40,000 fans across their homeland, followed by tours across Asia, Australia, Europe and the UK. The shows have sold out quickly prompting additional dates to be added alongside further venue upgrades across Europe and the UK.

HOLLY HEBE RETURNS WITH EMOTIONALLY PIERCING NEW SINGLE ‘BIRTHMARK’

Holly Hebe returns with her most emotionally piercing release to date in “Birthmark,” a striking new single that captures the addictive pull of past love and the quiet devastation of not being able to let go. The track marks the next chapter in a rapidly rising career that has already seen Hebe cement herself as one of Australia’s most compelling alt-pop voices, boasting over 3.5 million streams across all major platforms. Her deeply personal songwriting, wrapped in polished, hook-driven production, has earned standout coverage across Rolling Stone AU & NZ, Sydney Morning Herald, The Music, and Atwood Magazine.

Produced alongside ARIA-nominated and AIR Award-winning producer Alice Ivy (Mallrat, Boo Seeka, Sycco), “Birthmark” leans into a rich, Y2K-tinted sonic palette. It pairs shimmering textures with Holly’s unmistakable vocal delivery as she explores the emotional limbo of heartbreak, where memory and instinct blur, and moving on feels impossible.

At its core, the track captures a specific kind of emotional relapse. It explores the feeling that lingers beneath the surface long after a relationship has ended, offering a brutally honest reflection on attachment, memory, and the patterns we struggle to break.

“Birthmark is about the tragedy of craving the familiarity and deep understanding of a person that you once held close,” explains Holly. “It’s about the cycle of being tethered to someone, the heartbreak of still knowing them so intimately after a breakup, and the relapse of your healing and ability to move on. Birthmark tells the story of being unable to break this habit, and constantly being thrown back into the depths of heartbreak each time you tempt an old comfort zone.”

“Birthmark” arrives as another defining moment in a catalogue that consistently resonates with both fans and industry tastemakers. It follows the momentum of her previous single “Swimsuit,” which earned a triple j first play on Drive and landed on 13 major editorial playlists across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, YouTube, and TIDAL. Along with past hits like “Strobe Lights” and “snap out of it!”, Holly’s trajectory shows no signs of slowing, bolstered by over 50 DSP editorial playlist placements in the past 12 months, triple j rotation, and recognition as an Unearthed Forecast and Feature Artist.

This widespread radio and editorial backing is matched by a massive live footprint. Holly has taken the stage at major festivals including SXSW Austin, SXSW Sydney, BIGSOUND, Beyond The Valley, and the Australian Open. On the touring circuit, she has completely sold out headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne, while also supporting heavy hitters like Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Holly Humberstone, The Dreggs, Keli Holiday, and completing a massive 14-date national run with The Rions.

With “Birthmark” serving as the lead single, Holly is building toward yet another national support run, accompanied by further releases in June. Balancing vulnerability and pop precision, Holly Hebe continues to carve out a lane entirely her own, positioning herself firmly as one of the country’s most exciting artists to watch.

MANORISM return with new single ‘SOMETHING I CAN’T SEE’

With a lush and spirited tone breaking into music that allows the listener to get lost in the melodies and textures, Melbourne’s MANORISM levels up for 2026. The band’s new single, ‘Something I Can’t See’ is their first for the year, offering an exciting indication of where a fresh year of music is set to take the group.

The music itself, meticulously crafted, lands with impact. As the band describes, ‘Something I Can’t See’ arrives with “a gentle sense of nostalgia” – a song that has threads alt-country and indie coming together as part of the signature Manorism sound.

“The single carries a gentle sense of nostalgia, like remembering a summer that left a quiet mark on you. It offers a subtle coming‑of‑age thread, touching on the bittersweet parts of growing up — the search for something you can’t quite define, and the process of understanding yourself when someone important is no longer in your life, whether through choice or circumstance.” MANORISM

Released alongside the track, visuals of Manorism performing ‘Something I Can’t See’ have been captured by videographer James Morris (James Morris Creative). Filmed at Kilsyth Memorial Hall in Kilsyth, Victoria, the warmth of the track itself is delivered through the band’s performance.

The creation of ‘Something I Can’t See’ has been a result of new collaboration between Manorism and long-time friend and producer Malcolm Besley (Northeast Party House, City Calm Down). Developing a strong partnership with the ARIA nominated producer over the last two years has bred an innate understanding of creative chemistry. Besley, according to the band, has become “the unofficial member of the group”.

“We wrote this track during a rare stretch when we had absolutely no obligations — no deadlines, no expectations, no sense that the music needed to become anything other than what it wanted to be. That kind of space is where we’ve always been the most creative, making things purely for the sake of creating, without any ulterior purpose guiding the process.

It all began with a steady tempo and a simple chord progression — something calm and unhurried that felt good to sit inside. From there, we let the song unfold naturally. Each layer, lyric, and melodic idea grew from the last, slowly shaping itself into the journey it became. Looking back, the whole process felt less like constructing something and more like following a thread, seeing where it wanted to lead.” MANORISM

‘Something I Can’t See’ Live video, dir. by James Morris

Finding shared interests and musical influences early on in their journey, Manorism have explored themes of self-discovery and introspection right throughout their work. Cutting their teeth within Melbourne’s indie circuit, the band has performed on stages with artists including Ecca Vandal, L-Fresh The LION and more; while highlight performances at events like Beyond The Valley have bolstered Manorism’s vision for where they want their music to head.

The release of ‘Something I Can’t See’ is a new chapter for Manorism beginning, as they prepare for the much anticipated release of their debut album in 2026. To celebrate their new music, the band will perform a launch show for ‘Something I Can’t See’ in April.

DARREN COGGAN RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE & VIDEO’ALWAYS BELIEVE IN LOVE’ + ANNOUNCES EAST COAST TOUR

Darren Coggan has become one of Australia’s most enduring and versatile performers. He has built a career on storytelling – the kind that lingers long after the final note fades and he delivers that signature warmth and authenticity with this new offering ‘Always Believe in Love’.

LISTEN HERE

WATCH VIDEO HERE

“In the world that we live in today, being reminded to love one another is not such a bad thing,” notes the singer-songwriter. “Always Believe in Love is a gentle mantra for celebrating life and finding meaning in every season. With a heartfelt belief that we are all connected, the message remains the same: love is the answer.”

In what is quite a cosmic truth, Darren awoke from a dream with a completely realised vision of the song. “I was performing the song, the crowd were all singing along to the chorus and the melody was fully formed. I literally woke up and sang it into my phone. This song was a gift from somewhere else; I was just lucky enough to receive it.”

Produced by Ben Edgar (Gotye, Angus & Julia Stone, Missy Higgins) at Merrigum Studios in Melbourne, the recording sessions captured Darren at his heartfelt best with Ben’s musical sensibilities allowing the song’s message to breathe, while wrapping it in a sound that feels lived in.

“I wanted this track to feel as natural and unforced as the way it came to me. We kept everything grounded – real instruments, real performances – just letting the song speak for itself. Ben’s production enables the track to breathe, which allows the message to shine through.”

The accompanying music video for ‘Always Believe in Love’ extends that same ethos – raw, honest and unfiltered. Directed by Darren’s son Gabe Coggan, a recent Golden Guitar Award nominee, the clip was captured in a single take.

“We had a great time shooting this clip, we had this idea to shoot a ‘one shot’ music video on a beautiful south coast beach and as is always the case when you try to film anything outdoors, you’re at the mercy of the elements, we had to weave our way around the storm clouds that lingered on the horizon and the frantic winds that frustrated the wardrobe department, but it’s real life and I love that about this music video – it’s one take, no nonsense.”

With a swag of Golden Guitars, Independent Country Music Awards and the coveted Toyota Star Maker under his belt, Darren has carved an impressive career in the Australian country music industry, defined by authenticity and connection.

Beyond his recording career, Darren’s story stretches far wider. From starring roles in major productions like Happy Days, Grease and Shout, to on-screen appearances in All Saints and his ongoing role as a presenter on Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender, he’s carved out a rare space across music, theatre and television.

His touring productions celebrating the songbooks of Glen Campbell, John Denver, James Taylor and his critically acclaimed portrait of Cat Stevens have inspired audiences in the grandest theatres across the globe, including sell out seasons at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Liverpool Philharmonic.

Now, as he tours extensively across the country – bringing a mix of original country music and these beloved songbooks to theatres nationwide, Darren continues to do what he’s always done best: connect.

“I feel incredibly lucky to be able to take these songs – and these stories – across the country. Whether it’s my own music or the songs that have shaped me, it’s all about connection. At the heart of it all though, I have always been a songwriter and after a long time away from releasing new music, it feels really good to be sharing something new again.”

At its core, ‘Always Believe in Love’ is more than a song. It’s a reminder, deeply human and quietly profound.

KING PARROT Announce New Zealand Shows for July
Drop New Video for It’s A Rort

King Parrot are pleased to announce their return to New Zealand to launch the blistering new album A Young Person’s Guide to King Parrot.

Described as a hostile and abrasive slab of sensory destroying anthems, the record features ten thoroughly crafted blasts through the psyche of this crazed Aussie quintet. Recorded at Melbourne’s Dangertone studios with engineer Luke Walton, it’s the first full-length album since 2017’s critically adored Ugly Produce offering and their first new music since 2020’s Holed Up In The Lair EP. Pulling the new songs together was a meticulously creative endeavour and the final product is the most complete, aggressive, and urgent the band has ever sounded.

The band have been in full throttle touring mode since the release in early 2025 and are currently out on a massive 39 date jaunt through the USA alongside Gwar and Soulfly. Much of the last year was spent touring the globe in support of Pantera all over Europe, the UK and the USA where King Parrot amassed performing exactly 100 shows for the year.

New Zealand fans can expect a band that is firing on all cylinders and awaiting their first shows in NZ in many years, comments vocalist Matt Young “It’s been a while between drinks but we were most certain that we must return to NZ this year and give you guys a dose of King Parrot! We can’t wait to get back and see our kiwi mates and bring our brand of off the kilter grind, thrash and punk rock chaos, get your tickets now and we’ll see you real soon!”
