Chilean-Australian artist ELAURA releases vulnerable new single ‘LDDWYD’ (Love Don’t Do What You Did) + Announces debut EP Cry Until We Laugh
Delivering her most vulnerable unpacking of what love truly is, Chilean-Australian artist ELAURA is releasing her latest contemporary R&B, soul-infused single ‘LDDWYD’ (Love Don’t Do What You Did) and accompanying video on Wednesday 22 April. The new track joins her fierce declaration of self-worth with ‘That Ain’t It’, as the next taste of ELAURA’s debut EP Cry Until We Laugh, out Thursday 21 May.
‘LDDWYD’ (Love Don’t Do What You Did) is a raw meditation on love, heartbreak, and the painful clarity that comes when you realise someone you love can’t love you the way you deserve, because they don’t yet know how to love themselves. What started as a poem in the notes app,and a 30-minute session of pure artistic synchronicity and flow with bass player Daniel Rock, captures the introspective collapse of your inner world and hard truths. ‘Sometimes the most loving thing to do is leave the one you love because they can’t love themselves.’ – ELAURA
The video reflects that emotional journey through a quiet, solitary ascent filmed entirely at Flinders Blowhole. From sunrise to sundown, ELAURA slowly climbs the path overlooking the ocean, each step mirroring the internal process of moving through confusion, grief, and reflection. What begins as heartbreak transforms into acceptance, embodied in the song’s final line: ‘I think life knows something I don’t.’. Director Patrick Manson was guided by ELAURA’s ability to listen to what her art is asking of her, ‘From the moment I first listened to the song, in the discussions that followed, and through to building its visual architecture- the entire process was guided deeply by the spirit of the song, and I feel the end result we achieved stands as evidence of that.’ – Patrick Manson
ELAURA’s new EP Cry Until We Laugh is a place to grieve, be curious, unfiltered, messy, righteous, fun, spiritual, furious. These songs tell a story about breaking the spell of toxic love, taking power and voice back, trusting life’s bigger plans, and discovering that what you have been searching for has been inside you all along. Each track unveils a new layer of this journey, moving through spoken word poetry, to RnB soaked grooves, melodies backed by a choir of harmonies, her storytelling interwoven in English and Spanish and closing the EP with aptly named ‘Find your feet’. ‘It’s full of hope, surrender to life, love and joy. It’s about overcoming heartbreak and struggle through leaning on community. I feel like I had to trust fall into the people I had no doubt would catch me, and love me while I was picking up the pieces of myself after heartbreak.’ – ELAURA on ‘Find your feet’
Born in Australia with Chilean heritage, ELAURA grew up in the forested valleys of the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria, a backdrop that deeply influences her soulful sound. On her artist name, ELAURA says, ‘It’s a mix of my first and second name, Emily and Laura. These are my grandmother and great aunt’s names, I decided to blend them because my artistry feels like a homage to the women that came before me.’ Drawing this sentiment into all her creativity, her music is steeped in storytelling, often weaving in her second language, Spanish. With a few releases out, ELAURA has had the opportunity to perform alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and performs across iconic Melbourne venues, including Howler, Northcote Social Club, and the NGV. Her upcoming body of work journeys song by song, from heartbreak to self-worth, and gracefully paves the way for listeners to reflect on their own ability to heal through hardship.
Experience all shades of heartache and healing with this next chapter of ELAURA’s debut EP, Cry Until We Laugh, out Thursday 21 May

R&B Pioneers CVIRO & GXNXVS Drop Global New Single Body Following Ten Million Stream Milestone
The highly celebrated contemporary R&B duo CVIRO & GXNXVS have officially returned with their monumental new single Body. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, the independent powerhouses have built an undeniable reputation by committing to a deeply nostalgic sound long before the mainstream culture caught back up to it. Rooted heavily in the golden era of late nineties and early two thousands R&B, the duo fundamentally shifted the landscape of their home country by becoming the first Australian artists played on Drake’s OVO Sound Radio and Apple Music Beats 1. Now operating fully independent of the traditional label system after securing the duo is entering their most prolific and creatively liberated chapter yet.
The highly anticipated new single “Body” serves as a powerful testament to the duo’s ability to bridge international sounds while staying true to their core aesthetic. The track highlights a deliberate and successful effort to forge a deep connection between the burgeoning R&B movements in the United Kingdom and Australia. By blending classic nostalgic rhythms with global influences like dancehall and intricate Asian soundscapes, the artists have crafted a massive record that feels both timeless and exceptionally modern. The duo shared their specific vision and the collaborative energy that brought this monumental track to life alongside featured artist July 7.
Since linking up with Kaleem Taylor, then H33ra, Nippa, and now July 7, we’ve built a real connection between the UK and Australian R&B scenes. Body brings that classic R&B energy we always aim for, with a touch of dancehall and subtle Asian soundscape elements that make it feel big and global. We’ve known July 7 for a while and this collaboration has been something we’ve wanted to make happen for a long time. It feels like a record that could have come from a moment where 112 or Jagged Edge met Beenie Man or Sean Paul, but made for today. This one sets the tone for what’s coming next from our upcoming project.
There is a version of their story that reads like an impressive list of firsts and major industry milestones. They proved that authentic, nineties-rooted R&B could rise from a new wave of artists and dominate globally when their breakout single “Benjamins” crossed 10 million Spotify streams entirely without a major label push. Their undeniable conviction and polished sound caught the attention of international heavyweights, leading to their JAHKOY collaboration being highlighted on the Joe Budden Podcast. This widespread industry respect has earned them prestigious cosigns from legendary artists like Tank and Jon B as well as Swavay. Their music continues to command the airwaves with heavy rotation on Soulection radio alongside major broadcasting stations across the United States and the United Kingdom.
The duo is entering an incredibly prolific era with a vast catalogue of completed music ready to be unveiled. While keeping their upcoming surprises closely guarded, fans and industry professionals should definitely watch this space as the artists prepare an intentional rollout of new releases backed by captivating visuals and a robust content strategy. This new momentum builds perfectly upon the massive success of their previous H33RA collaboration titled Cardiac which reached an impressive 1.69 million streams. With much more to come in the near future, what once felt like an underground movement is now perfectly aligned with global culture, proving conclusively that CVIRO & GXNXVS are not just catching up to the wave but are the very pioneers who helped start it.

Powerhouse Takara Returns With Untouchable Alt World Pop Anthem Mona Lisa
Australian-born artist Takara, making waves globally is set to captivate audiences with her highly anticipated new single Mona Lisa. Blending her signature neo soul, R&B, Afrobeat and Amapiano influences, the track marks a bold and playful new chapter for the self made powerhouse. Mona Lisa is a lush mix of sensuality and self expression that continues her legacy of crafting deeply human music that resonates louder than any major label machine.
Known to her dedicated online community as Takarathekoala, Takara has redefined success on her own terms, building a fiercely loyal global following of over 500,000 fans and generating more than 400 million views across platforms entirely independently. Takara’s recent visit to Australia around the release of Soleil saw her feature in a Happy Mag content piece, “CHEERS with Takara,” attend an event at Snapchat HQ, and take part in multiple brand gifting opportunities.
The inspiration behind Mona Lisa stems from a desire to establish boundaries while fully embracing a divine feminine energy. Takara envisioned the track as an untouchable piece of art, playing with the dynamics of desire and distance to create an empowered listening experience. Through meticulously layered vocals and a distinct matador inspired energy, the song creates an immersive atmosphere that playfully circles the listener. It is a confident, protective, and sarcastically flirty declaration of worth that sets the tone for her evolving artistry, perfectly captured in her own words.
“an alt-world pop moment where I basically want to be untouchable art. like put me behind glass and admire me from a respectful distance. no access, just vibes. it plays on this feeling of being desired by men but not being available. There’s a cheeky push-pull in the lyrics: a little flirty, a little sarcastic, like I know exactly what you want and I’m choosing to be just out of reach. I’ve layered so many vocals into a little matador-vibe moment that makes it feel like the song is circling you. It’s playful, bratty, and a bit divine feminine coded tbh. pretty but protected.”
Raised in Adelaide, Takara’s story is one of pure hustle and heart, beginning her musical journey at the age of ten by teaching herself to record and produce from her bedroom. Seeking greater creative freedom, she took a monumental leap of faith by moving to Chicago with just seventy five dollars to her name before ultimately relocating to Los Angeles to fully develop her artistry. Her breakthrough arrived when her standout track “Take Me Home” hit #1 on Triple J Unearthed, paving the way for her critically acclaimed 2022 debut album “Kinda Messy” and its viral hit “Strawberry Cake”. Since then, her undeniable cultural impact has only grown, with her music prominently featured in the A24 global horror hit Talk To Me and electrifying live performances on prestigious stages like SXSW.Takara was also announced to play SXSW London with Clash Magazine.
Takara’s magnetic energy and bold vision have drawn significant industry recognition and heavy media backing, earning her featured press in Australia Music Scene, Happy Mag TV, and The Fox Magazine. Her tracks have commanded the airwaves with consistent rotation on New Grooves Inner FM and CADA K-Sera, while dominating digital streaming platforms with regular placement on Spotify’s Fresh Finds AU & NZ. Beyond her solo success, she has secured impressive collaborations with artists like KAMAUU, Meduulla, and Thandi Phoenix, alongside major industry co-signs from heavyweights Jeremih and BeBe Rexha. Further cementing her status as a visionary visual and sonic artist, Takara recently Won Silver Screening Awards at BMVA’s, proving that her entirely independent journey is leaving a permanent and untouchable mark on the global music landscape.

SHARPTONE WELCOMES ROCHESTER, NEW YORK BAND GLASSWAVES TO THE ROSTER
BAND DROPS VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE FVCK.ME.UP
SharpTone Records is thrilled to welcome Glasswaves, a Rochester, New York-based trio that seamlessly blends dark pop, alternative rock, and electronic elements with a heavy and dynamic edge, to the global roster.
The band has shared the video for gloomy and glitchy new single fvck.me.up. Watch it here:
“What started as a completely different idea slowly turned into a mix of electronic textures and heavy guitars that just felt right,” shares singer Noah Rich. “Once the chorus came together, everything really clicked into place. At its core, the song is about destructive love and emotional dependency that pulls you toward something you know isn’t good for you but can’t let go of.”
He finishes, “Within the world we’re building as Glasswaves, it reflects that loss of control and the feeling of giving yourself over to something bigger, whether that’s a person, a system, or something inside your own mind. This track is the first piece of a bigger story that will keep unfolding with every release.”
Regarding their new label home, Glasswaves says, “Being able to say Glasswaves is signed to SharpTone Records is honestly surreal. It’s a label we’ve looked up to for a long time, and knowing we’re also connected to the legacy of Nuclear Blast makes it even more meaningful. Starting this new chapter with our single ‘fvck.me.up’ feels like a perfect way to begin.”
Formed in May 2023, the lineup is rounded out by Owen Miller on guitar and Brendan Curtis on bass. In a short time, they have built a reputation for pairing atmospheric melody with explosive intensity, creating a sound that is both cinematic and emotionally raw.
Their music moves fluidly between haunting, electronic driven verses and massive, high impact moments, offering a balance of accessibility and aggression that resonates across genres. Paired with their war paint aesthetic, Glasswaves deliver a live show that is immersive, visceral, and visually striking.
In 2025, the band won the grand prize at the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands and earned a main stage performance at Warped Tour. That same year, they toured extensively, performing nearly 60 shows and spending close to 80 days on the road, quickly establishing themselves as a compelling and consistent live act.
Now signed to SharpTone Records, Glasswaves are positioned for rapid growth as they continue to push boundaries and connect with a new generation of listeners. With a sound that refuses to be confined to a single genre and a proven work ethic on the road, the band stands ready to make a lasting impact across the alternative and heavy music space.

GEORDIE GREEP (BLACK MIDI) ANNOUNCES AUSTRALIAN TOUR THIS JULY/AUGUST
PERFORMING DEBUT SOLO ALBUM THE NEW SOUND
Geordie Greep, the celebrated frontman of Black Midi, is bringing his debut solo album, The New Sound, to Australian stages this July and August.
The New Sound is a record that throws open the doors on what happens when there’s no one else in the room to answer to. As he puts it “Music can be so much more than learning to play the same as everybody else. It can be anything you want.”
That freedom runs right through the record. A sprawling, high-quality take on alternative pop that leans into both the absurd and the meticulous. To achieve this ambitious sound, Greep enlisted over thirty session musicians across two continents. Notably, half the album was tracked in Brazil with local players, who reacted purely to the demos, having no prior knowledge of Greep’s work.
The result is a record that moves fast and unpredictably. The instrumental title track lands somewhere between jazz-funk and theatrical score, while elsewhere songs shift quickly between whispers and full-band explosions. There are traces of Frank Zappa, Frank Sinatra and Scott Walker in the mix, but nothing settles long enough to sit comfortably in one place.
Lyrically, Greep plays emcee to a rotating cast of characters caught in increasingly strange scenarios. The world of The New Sound – populated by cafes, bars, rented rooms, and cabarets – is where fantasy and reality blur, and the characters convince themselves they are in control even as everything around them suggests otherwise.
With plans to continue working with different musicians in different places, Greep’s live shows follow the same instinct: no two nights landing the same way.
This July and August, Australian audiences get a first look at The New Sound live.
Presale begins Thursday April 23 @ 9am local time.
Tickets are on sale Friday April 24 @ 9am local time.

BABY COOL SHARES SINGLE ‘SKY’ + OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO
SOPHOMORE ALBUM INFINITY BABY OUT 5 JUNE
Today we cast our eyes to ‘Sky’, the latest hypnotic offering from Bundjalung artist Baby Cool. Alongside the release is an official music video filmed in her hometown pub, The Eltham Hotel. ‘Sky’ is the second sip of Baby Cool’s upcoming sophomore album Infinity Baby, out 5 June.
Like its namesake, ‘Sky’ is expansive – daydreamy – inspiring feelings of both hope and melancholic acceptance. Soft percussion and jangly guitars carry listeners on a journey through Cuell’s quest for self discovery.
Baby Cool muses,“I am still getting to know the parts of my emotional self that keep me guarded. This song is about learning to live with those shadows and accepting that they are as much a part of me as the skin on my body. There’s something in this acceptance that has helped me become more aware of my vulnerabilities and less reactive over the years. Like everything else, this is an ongoing process–until probably forever.”
Also released today is a full length music video for ‘Sky’ which you can watch here.
Filmed at the Eltham Hotel in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, the clip has a tenderness that echoes the themes of the song. “The pub is the heartbeat of the music scene in our local area and the owners Matt and Luke have worked hard to create a community around everything they do there and have been endlessly supportive of my music. Local filmmaker Dom Sullivan directed and shot the clip, and we had a lovely time galavanting around the pub after hours. Dom had a strong vision for this song so I let him run with it– and the result was really special.”
Where her debut body of work Earthling on the Road to Self Love felt almost whimsical in its search for meaning, upcoming album Infinity Baby is more grounded and honest. The songs move through desire, cynicism, devotion and surrender, sometimes defeat, but always circle back to a kind of hope. It’s a record about patterns: the ones we inherit, the ones we repeat, and the ones we choose to keep.
ABOUT BABY COOL
Baby Cool is the alter ego of Grace Cuell, the co-front-woman of Brisbane alt/psych outfit, Nice Biscuit. She made her solo debut in 2022 with singles ‘Magic’, ‘The Sea’, ‘Poison’ and ‘Daydream’, all lifted from her lush first album, Earthling on the Road to Self Love (2023).
Praised for its warmth and dreamlike swell, Earthling on the Road to Self Love was 4ZZZ’s Album of the Week, featured on the RRR Soundscape and playlisted on RAGE, FBI, PBS, 2SER and RTRFM. The Guardian flagged Baby Cool in its Best New Music column while NME pinned her as an artist to watch in 2023.
No stranger to the stage, Baby Cool quickly accrued some heavy hitting support slots for the likes of Babe Rainbow and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard before travelling to the UK for a co-headline tour with Nice Biscuit, including appearances at The Great Escape and Wide Awake Festival. Since then, she’s added shows with Thee Sacred Souls (USA), Allah Las (USA) and Blonde Redhead (USA) to her touring resume.
Upcoming album Infinity Baby promises an evolution of sorts. As Cuell prepares to welcome her next creative offering into the world, she also prepares to take her first step into real life motherhood. No doubt, this new era will prove fruitful for Baby Cool.
‘Sky’ is available on all major streaming platforms now. Infinity Baby is out June 5.

MULTI-HYPHENATE PSYCH-POP MUSICIAN BAYONNE ANNOUNCES NEW FULL-LENGTH ALBUM DUE OUT SEPT. 4TH. FILTERS | PRE-ORDER HERE
SHARES NEW SONG “OXYGEN” | LISTEN HERE
ANNOUNCES U.S. TOUR STARTING SEPT. 27TH
TICKETS ON SALE APRIL 24TH
Bayonne “Oxygen”: https://bayonne.ffm.to/oxygen
Multi-hyphenate musician Bayonne (Roger Sellers) is excited to announce his forthcoming album, Filters, due out on September 4th via Nettwerk. Along with the announcement, Bayonne is sharing his new song, “Oxygen,” a lush offering of sonic excellence that showcases dream-pop haze, layered synths, and rich, pulsing pop energy, revealing bright, saturated sounds fully in focus.
Acceptance inspires hope on the beautifully buoyant “Oxygen.” It signals forward motion as Sellers imagines a creative future for himself. “I was feeling really anxious about approaching music,” Sellers shares. “I’ve had times in my life where, especially when I’m about to start something, it can be really difficult to get back in that mode. It feels like such a sacred place, and it’s hard to just pop in and out of. In a lot of my songs, I’m having a conversation with myself. ‘Oxygen’ is that internal conversation about believing in myself again.”
Bayonne is excited to play these songs on its newly announced upcoming U.S. tour. The tour kicks off at Beer City Music Hall in Oklahoma City on Sept. 27th and will make stops at Lincoln Hall in Chicago on Sept. 30th, Le Poisson Rouge in New York on Oct. 9th, Mohawk in Austin on Oct. 24th, Lodge Room in Los Angeles on Nov. 21st, and more. Find the full list of dates below. Artist pre-sale begins Wednesday Apr. 22nd at 12 pm EST (CODE = FILTERS), and tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday Apr. 24th at 10 am local time. ABOUT BAYONNE / FILTERS Bayonne’s music captures the indescribable. For 10 years, the Austin, Texas-based experimental avant-pop/electronic musician, born Roger Sellers, has been creating atmospheric soundscapes brimming with layers, texture, and deep emotional resonance. On his fourth and most immersive album to date, Filters, Sellers picks up where he left us on 2023’s mournful yet pop-minded Temporary Time. Featuring the already released singles, “Multiphase” and “January,” Filters highlights Sellers’ technique of crafting elegantly constructed melodies, silken synth-work, a sprinkle of field recordings, and an upbeat yet blissful blend of piano and percussion. Filters finds Sellers entering a new phase of existence as he works through the grief around losing his father and into a place of acceptance.
“The title Filters correlates with the concept of finding ways to get through rough times,” Sellers explains of his latest project. “It’s like filtering through some of the negative things in life.”
A native of Spring, Texas, Sellers has been enamored with boundary-pushing synth-pop and related genres since childhood, which is when he fell in love with the groundbreaking drumwork of Phil Collins and repeatedly watched Eric Clapton’s MTV Unplugged performance. Sellers blossomed into a multi-instrumentalist who was both self-taught and had some formal music education. In 2010, he released the self-titled Roger Sellers and soon followed up with the more structured, electronic-folk-styled Moments in 2011 and 8 Song in 2012. As the indie music scene flourished in his adopted home of Austin, Sellers drew in bigger crowds with his loop-layering live shows. Eventually, he settled on the performance moniker Bayonne and released Primitives (2016) and Drastic Measures (2019) via the indie incubator Mom + Pop Records, followed by Temporary Time on his current home of Nettwerk Music Group.
WATCH AND LISTEN TO “MULTIPHASE” HERE
WATCH AND LISTEN TO “JANUARY” HERE
Musically inspired by new age/ambient titan Enya and electro-pop pioneers Air, Sellers worked in close collaboration with Bayonne drummer Matt Toman — a first for Sellers, who has largely worked independently on Bayonne material. In addition to working together on the album’s visual direction and resurfacing and polishing decade-old demos, Sellers and Toman suffused Filters with field recordings taken from nature hikes, time spent together on a Texas farm, and family gatherings.
Filters is available for pre-order HERE on ultra clear and an exclusive limited-edition Halloween orange vinyl.

Killian Walsh Announces New Album ‘Ise’ With Opening Single ‘Let’s Float’ Featuring Elise SW
Experimental electronic artist and multi-instrumentalist Killian Walsh announces his new album ‘Ise’, led by the opening single ‘Let’s Float’ featuring his daughter Elise SW. The album title, ‘Ise’, is derived from the Irish word for “she”, serving as a gesture of respect to the women in Killian’s life. A deeply personal body of work shaped by loss, reflection, and renewed connection to music, it sits alongside a global wave of underground producers currently pushing raw, analogue soundscapes and genre boundaries forward.
‘Ise’ reflects a wide emotional spectrum, moving between fragility, reflection, and moments of clarity, tracing a period of personal change and emotional processing. Musically, the album draws upon a broad spectrum of electronic styles from Killian’s past, incorporating elements of Ambient, Trance, House, and Techno, along with reflecting his background in traditional Irish music. The project was developed with support from collaborators in Dublin, Berlin and Australia, including work with seminal producers and engineers Tobias Neumann and Johannes Manuel.
Killian Walsh’s forthcoming full body of work emerged without a defined plan. Following the sudden deaths of his wife and, three months later, his father, Killian found himself turning to music as a way of processing grief. What followed became an organic, cathartic process, resulting in an album that documents an emotional journey through loss, introspection, and gradual renewal.
Killian Walsh comments: “There wasn’t a grand plan to make an album. I was hit with the death of my wife quite suddenly, and then within three months, the death of my father, and my world was absolutely turned upside down, and I was completely cracked open. The paradox of being completely cracked open is that’s when the light can come in. That light was music. This album is effectively the story of the journey of my grief, realising that grief is a form of madness and all the emotions attached to that.”
The new single taken from the album, ‘Let’s Float’, introduces the LP’s emotional offering. The track was inspired by a moment shared between Killian and his daughter, Elise, who features as the vocalist on the track, during a family swim in the sea following the passing of his wife. During the swim, both experienced a similar sense of stillness and reassurance, which later formed the foundation of ‘Let’s Float’. The release captures that moment of quiet clarity, translating it into a piece centred on hope and connection.
‘Ise’ as a collection presents a multi-genre body of work that reflects both personal experience and artistic development. Each track on the album contributes to a wider narrative, illustrating Killian’s evolving creative identity while documenting a period of significant change. The forthcoming release of ‘Ise’ introduces an exciting project rooted in lived experience, combining emotional depth with a broad electronic sound palette, as Killian Walsh continues to establish his presence within the wider electronic music landscape.
Killian Walsh’s ‘Ise’ will be released via Ardchumhacht on 26th June, 2026, capturing a body of work shaped by a period of loss, reflection and emotional transformation.

JEANE SHARES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘GOOD GOD (WHAT HAVE WE BECOME)’
DEBUT EP SICKO OUT MAY 21 + HEADLINE SHOW AT THE TOTE
Naarm’s Jeane announces new single ‘Good God (What Have We Become)’ ahead of her debut EP, Sicko, out May 21. The track tackles bodily autonomy, political disillusionment, and the surreal tension between faith and power. Jeane also announces the Sicko EP launch, bringing their high-energy live set to The Tote Bandroom on Friday the 24th of July.
Written on a stormy night after hours of doomscrolling through news from around the world, ‘Good God (What Have We Become)’ came from Jazz Johnston reading about women’s rights in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned. “I couldn’t shake the surreal feeling of living in your own body yet not having full rights over it as a woman. Writing the song became my way of processing that helplessness about the state of the world. I found myself repeating ‘good God’ like a mantra. Having grown up in the church, I’ve always been fascinated by the tension between religion and politics — especially in the Trump era,” she shared.
Musically, the track is one of Jeane’s most ambitious yet. “I wrote the chorus to be reminiscent of a children’s church choir, building with textures of synths, voices and strings until it explodes at the end with the distorted electric piano line.”
The accompanying video was built using live feeds, capturing the relentless, disorienting flow of information that defines the digital age. Jazz shares, “Everything in this video (apart from Julian Assange skateboarding) is live. The featured videos are live streams of Al Jazeera News, Sky News, the stock market and my personal favourite – a security camera of a mechanic in the Philippines (shout out to Jazz Bazz Philippines). The idea was to lean into how it feels to be online currently – all-consuming and overwhelming. Exploring the internet from the safety of my bedroom, in my undies, as the world exists in all states.”
‘Good God (What Have We Become)’ follows on from single ‘CASH’, which earned a Wild On Feature on Rage and a Frankie spotlight, as well as airplay on triple j, Unearthed, PBS, Triple R, FBi, 4ZZZ and SYN.
Jeane is the project of Jazz Johnston and friends, expanding to a full band including Luke Moseley on guitar, Connor Black-Harry on bass and Pelaya Arapakis on drums. Jazz is an active member of the Naarm music community, and a member of The Tote’s Reclink team The Rockdogs. In 2024, Jazz Johnston was awarded the APRA AMCOS Hear Hear Producer/Engineer Residency, and was the Songhubs Pathways Recipient in 2025 – a testament to her technical skill and creative vision behind the desk as well as on stage. The band have brought their captivating live show to Brunswick Music Festival, Across The Punt, and Warrandyte Festival, and have supported Full Flower Moon Band, WILSN and The Slingers.
The band will also be a part of The Tote’s ‘Time Enough At Last’ weekender. Taking place over 8-10th May, the event gathers some of the undergrounds finest in order to raise funds in support for the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network.
Jeane’s debut EP, Sicko, is out May 21.

Boorloo/Perth alternative artist Dawson returns with ‘maybe someday’, a heartfelt and brooding new single. Known for his intimate sound built around warm guitars, textured production and soulful vocals, Dawson continues to lean into emotional vulnerability on this latest release.
To date, Dawson’s music has accumulated over 7 million streams, alongside supporting a stack of artists including Broods, Vera Blue, Mansionair, Boo Seeka, Thelma Plum, Wafia and more. Following his 2024 singles ‘more than I bargained for’ and ‘if I could read you, would I want to?’, and a recent support slot with The Beautiful Girls, he continues to expand his catalogue with deeply personal storytelling and a distinct electro-acoustic sound.
Built on emotion that hits close to the heart, ‘maybe someday’ evokes a sense of despair and anguish. With shimmering, atmospheric synths, supported by reverb-drenched piano, Dawson’s warm, unmistakable vocals are embellished with some careful post-production effects. With a push and pull feeling, the intimate, solitary verses give way to lush, pleading choruses that carry a sense of hope, lending to the raw, relatable theme of loss and longing.
Caught between holding on and letting go, Dawson reflects on the weight of the past as he searches for something ahead. As he explains:
“This song is about finding it hard to let go of something that you’re not ready to let go of. You question everything, you overthink everything, you wonder if you could’ve changed anything but at the end of the day there’s nothing you can do. All you can do is hope that maybe someday things will be different.”
With ‘maybe someday’, Dawson steps forward while still tethered to what came before. Dawson’s ‘maybe someday’ is out now.

David Ramano Continues His Exploration Of Afro & Melodic House With New ‘Time Loop EP’
David Ramano, the London-born and now Dubai-based electronic artist and producer, continues his run of new music this year, with the release of the ‘Time Loop EP’ via his Omkara imprint. The three-track EP showcases a deeper and more conceptual step in his exploration of Afro and Melodic House, citing a new chapter in his personal evolution as an artist.
The ‘Time Loop’ EP is a reflection on the patterns that we move through and the moments we repeat, while pointing toward the awareness that allows us to move beyond them. Across each of the tracks, the EP unfolds as a journey that moves from rhythm and repetition into introspection and resolution.
The opening track, ‘Time Loop’, is a deep and hypnotic instrumental built for the dancefloor, driven by rolling Afro House percussion and evolving textures, focusing on presence over progression. The EP then shifts towards ‘Lost In The Waves’, a vocal-led piece that introduces a more emotive dimension, exploring surrender, trust, and the experience of letting go into the unknown. Closing the EP, ‘Never Look Back’ brings a feeling of clarity and forward motion, with a vocal that conveys quiet strength and release, capturing the decision to move on without attachment to the past.
The ‘Time Loop EP’ notes one of David’s most prolific runs of studio output to date, with a catalogue of music released on and forthcoming across labels including Enormous Tunes, Where The Heart Is, Vamos Music, Vamos Music Talents, Ostowana, Xpressed Records, Open Bar Music, and his own imprint, Omkara. This stream of releases reflects his ever-growing presence across the global Afro and Melodic House scene and his commitment to rhythm-driven electronic music rooted in emotion and cultural influence. His music continues to reach audiences worldwide, with new tour dates forthcoming, including a performance in Miami.
Raised in London’s diverse musical landscape, David’s sound is shaped by soulful harmonies, emotional storytelling, and the influence of underground dance culture. From the 1990s pirate radio scene to performances across the UK, Spain, Sweden, and Canada, his journey has been defined by authenticity and movement. As one half of the Deepologists, he developed an immersive approach to music that connects the physical and emotional sides of the dancefloor.
David’s work continues to receive strong support from international tastemakers, including Damian Lazarus, Themba, CamelPhat, Shimza, Artbat, Cosmic Gate, and Don Diablo. His track ‘Fall’ remains one of his most-streamed releases, combining Afro percussive energy with emotive melodies and surpassing 380,000 streams while featuring on key Spotify Afro House playlists. Across platforms, his catalogue has now exceeded 850,000 streams, with music reaching clubs, festivals, and radio shows worldwide.
Founded as a creative platform for forward-thinking Afro and Melodic House, Omkara serves as the home for David Ramano’s own releases. The label’s vision is centred on innovation, emotional depth, and rhythm-driven soundscapes that bridge tradition and modernity, drawing influence from African, Latin, and Eastern musical heritage.
With the ‘Time Loop EP’, David Ramano moves deeper into his artistic vision, delivering a body of work rooted in rhythm and emotion while already gaining early support from respected names including Damian Lazarus and Themba, signalling its impact across the global Afro and Melodic House community.

New Album Mother Of Pearl Out May 29th On BMG Pre-order now Announces 2026 EU & UK Headline Tour
Plays London’s Royal Albert Hall October 5th
Following the announcement of her forthcoming album Mother Of Pearl (out May 29th on BMG) last month, Freya Ridings has released the album’s latest cut in the bewitching new single ‘Dancing In The Kitchen’. Alongside the track, Freya has also announced a massive UK and EU tour, including a date at London’s Royal Albert Hall on October 5th.
An emotionally raw track, ‘Dancing In The Kitchen’ has already become a fan favourite since Freya dropped a teaser clip online and already a live staple after her recent shows across Australia. Stripped back to ukulele and Freya’s powerfully stirring vocal, the track is an anthem to forget your troubles and embrace vulnerability.
“‘Dancing In The Kitchen’ is my rawest, most honest song to date,” Freya says of the track. “I’m thrilled that my fans resonated with the secret life I think we all share behind closed doors and eyes. The demo I shared started something and I’m in awe of the response. I truly can’t wait for this song to finally be out in the world”
The track comes alongside another stunning video, directed by Nic Minns (Lewis Capaldi, Ed Sheeran, Anne-Marie) and shot at Asylum Chapel in one take. Listen to the single HERE & watch the video HERE.
Known for her captivating live shows and fresh from her OneRepublic tour across Australia, Freya has also announced a 2026 UK and EU run. Kicking off at Ulster Hall in Belfast on September 6th, the 27-date tour includes a show at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on October 5th. More info HERE.

Opening with the empowering and assured banger ‘Euphoria,’ Mother Of Pearl is 11 tracks of flawless beauty. Reinventing herself, while maintaining the voice that has become so recognisable, there’s a defiance and a fire to Freya Ridings’ new era. It’s a strength borne from her journey, forging a path through a patriarchal industry that all-too-often tried to mould her into what they wanted her to be and not what she was aspiring to.
One of the UK’s finest talents since she broke through with her multi-platinum selling single ‘Lost Without You,’ Freya has had a remarkable career to date. Her self-titled debut album was a BRIT-nominated, Gold-certified triumph, achieving over 1 billion streams and earning 47 Gold and Platinum certifications worldwide. ‘Lost Without You’ also saw Freya become the first female artist to both write and perform a solo Top 10 hit in the UK.
Going into her third album Freya Ridings is not the same artist she was before. She’s had to reach down into the depths and find reserves that she didn’t know she had, and in doing so, she’s tapped into a rich seam of anger and wisdom and womanhood that feels as timely now as it ever was. As she says, “Getting to create, sing and play these songs and have them exist in the real world, that feels like winning to me.”

BIG DELICIOUS ‘HOLD ON TIGHT’ (SINGLE)
Ever thought “There should be more songs where some bloke shouts a list at you?” Well, here you go.
Hold On Tight tells the story of a fine upstanding pillar of the local community who seems, though no fault of his own, to have made a few enemies. Mining a similar sonic vein to Bob Dylan in his “thin, wild-mercury sound” / ‘Bringing It All Back Home” period, this song clatters around hairpin bends on perilous mountain roads like Neal Cassady driving a brakeless bus full of Merry Pranksters.
May appeal to fans of Ryan Adams, The Highwaymen, Uncle Tupelo and Hayes Carll.

About the Artist: Big Delicious know songwriters who use subtext, and they’re all cowards. Big Delicious traffic in simple, old-fashioned tunes that do what they say on the tin.
Featuring far too many musicians and singers from Melbourne acts including Klinger, Sophie Koh, Slow Fades, The Glorious North, Michael Meeking and the Lost Souls, Georgia Fields, Cheezelkane and more, this 9-piece band serves up a hearty stew of all your musical comfort foods: high-lonesome pedal steel, honky tonk piano, old-timey fiddle and the kind of guitar solos that make you want to do burn-outs in a Holden Torana, all on a tasty bed of Wilco-esque indie-rock.

LØLØ POP ROCK FIREBRAND SPILLS ALL ON SOPHOMORE ALBUM
god forbid a girl spits out her feelings
OUT NOW
WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR the dumbest girl in the world HERE
Pop-rock trailblazer LØLØ has released her much anticipated sophomore album, god forbid a girl spits out her feelings, out now via Fearless Records and available to stream/download HERE. Ultimately, LØLØ writes the kind of songs that make it okay to feel out loud. The diaristic 13-track LP expands upon the raw, rebellious world she’s built over the years, leaning into sharp-tongued lyricism, dark humor, and unfiltered emotional honesty that captures every spiral, intrusive thought, and contradiction in real time.
The confessional project marks a striking evolution from LØLØ’s debut album falling for robots and wishing I was one, shifting from detachment to fearless self-expression. The album features pre-released fan-favorites, me with no shirt on, american zombie, the devil wears converse, and 007, alongside standout moments like the punisher, the dumbest girl in the world, and lobotomy & u, each amplifying her signature blend of pop-rock bite and intimate storytelling. Sonically, the album strips things back while sharpening its emotional impact, balancing explosive alt-rock energy with bold, tongue-in-cheek moments. LØLØ’s vocal performance also grounds the project in a sense of immediacy that feels both personal and universally relatable.
“My debut album had me wishing I could be a robot, so I didn’t have to feel anything and nobody could hurt me. This one, however, is what happens when I start embracing every messy, scary, and inconvenient feeling of being human. After all, feeling everything is kind of the whole point, right?” LØLØ commented.
“I’ve stripped things back – both sonically and physically – just a girl, her pen, and her guitar. This album is about learning, losing, falling in love, falling apart, and refusing to apologize for any of it. My songwriting lets you into my entire world, however complicated it may be. As my fans know, I’m incapable of taking this shit to my grave. The world (and the people I write about) might call it ‘too much,’ but this album flips that on its head. It’s about owning my sensitivity and emotions because, god forbid a girl spits out her feelings! Well, here they are…” she elaborated.
The music video for the dumbest girl in the world is also out now. It’s both a call-out and a call-in for anyone who’s ever ignored their better judgment for love. It was inspired by real-life conversations amongst friends (and fellow artists), who also feature in the visual – Chandler Leighton, Leah Kate, Hunter Daily, Bailey Spinn, and Mylie Taylor.
With over 150M+ global streams, collaborations with Simple Plan and Maggie Lindemann, and performances at Lollapalooza, Sad Summer, Slam Dunk, Download, Rock Am Ring, and multiple Warped Tours, LØLØ continues to solidify her place as one of the most compelling voices in modern pop-rock.
In support of the album, she will be bringing the new music to life on a headline tour across the U.K. and Europe beginning April 25 in Vienna, Austria and concluding May 13 in Birmingham, U.K.. Following the run, she will return to Warped Tour stages this summer with stops in Washington, D.C., Long Beach, Montreal, and Mexico City. Even more new shows will be announced soon.
GOD FORBID A GIRL SPITS OUT HER FEELINGS – OUT NOW https://lolo.ffm.to/spitfeelings
About LØLØ: The details matter to LØLØ. Unafraid to discuss love, lust, and life without filter, most diaries will never get quite as deep as her lyrics do. All the while, she sonically threads Gen-Z openness into an organic fabric of nineties-spun alternative, attitude-laden rock, and punchy pop. Since 2018, she’s built a devout audience by holding nothing back. Following a series of fan favorite EPs, she struck a chord with her 2024 full-length debut, falling for robots & wishing i was one. Beyond generating tens of millions of streams, it incited a groundswell of critical acclaim. In a glowing review, Kerrang! reminded, “We need artists like LØLØ to bear their hearts to help fill ours,” and Atwood Magazine promised, “falling for robots & wishing i was one will resonate with audiences for its unapologetic ferocity.” American Songwriter christened her “a pop-rock girly with an edgy vulnerability.” Meanwhile, she hit the road with jxdn, Boys Like Girls, Simple Plan, and Against The Current in addition to selling out headline shows across the globe and making a name for herself at the festival circuit. Guitar in hand, heart on the table, and truth out in the open, the Toronto-born singer and songwriter spikes a cocktail of intoxicating vulnerability with just the right amount of venom on her second full-length LP and Fearless Records debut, god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!
Tilly Vickers Willis shares debut album, Silver Halide Film + music video for focus track ‘In My Body’
STREAM/SHARE SILVER HALIDE FILM
Melbourne avant-folk musician Tilly Vickers Willis’ (TWV) highly-anticipated debut album Silver Halide Film is out now independently.
Also out today is a music video for focus track, ‘In My Body’, an extraordinary evocation of the freedom and the rapture that comes from connecting with someone new who makes you feel totally at ease in your body. The song’s structure replicates this revelation, beginning with organs and acoustic guitar that unfurl into soaring arrangements of violins and drums, with TVW intoning “in my body” like a blissful mantra.Born out of TVW’s playful and openhearted creative relationship with filmmaker Jyo Miyaji, the track’s music video was shot on Super 8 and follows a love story from the perspective of two peoples’ shoes.

To produce an analogue photograph, silver halide crystals are suspended in gelatin, and exposed to light, creating an image composed of metallic silver. Melbourne musician Tilly Vickers Willis’ beautiful and haunting debut record, Silver Halide Film, which is about the depths of detachment and the sublimity of embodiment, is made up of similar elements. There is the shiny, icy tang of trip-hop, shimmering pockets of art pop, and TVW’s’ smoky vocals, which bind the whole record together. Here, every track is like a newly developed photograph, its own distinct, mysterious world, inky and wet to the touch, full of gorgeous, granulated textures.
The songs were written during a period of travel and exploration, after years beset by pandemic lockdowns and creative blockages. The album toggles between these states—downtempo, dissociative detachment and the almost mystical, but certainly magical, feeling of connection; not only with others but with one’s own body. “I’ve come to realise that the album is less about a journey to embodiment, and more an exploration of all the different points within those two extremes” says TVW, “It’s not about the destination of joy, or a cathartic resolution, it’s more an interplay between these emotional states.” The recording process was slow and meticulous, with TVW working with long-time collaborator Dean Tuza (Acopia, Dirty Three, Eleanor Jawurlangali) to create a sonic tapestry of gloomy organs, woozy guitars and ghosty falsettos.
Album opener ‘Murmuration’ gets to the sinking core of disembodiment. Piano and violins tangle to tell of the apathy spurred from feeling like your body is no longer your own. TVW ruminates on the starling birds and their “murmurations”, wondering how exactly they know to perform their innate dance. But TVW doesn’t stay in this feeling too long—the next track ‘Do You Know’ (a co-write with Morgan from Acopia) is about the moment of intuition returning, and takes the form of a shivering incantation that wouldn’t be out of place on Jeff Buckley’s Grace. Slinky, trip-hop track ‘Silver Halide Film’ picks upon this thread—“It’s about the way that we hide the truth from ourselves and build stories up to conceal it – but how in time, the true meaning is always revealed because the voice of intuition cannot be ignored forever.” The brooding, Portishead-remiscent ‘Aching Never Leaves’ is about someone completely snowed under by grief, desperately holding onto the feeling because the ache is proof that love was once there.
On the later half of the record, TVW switches things up, with gorgeous exultations that chronicle the joys of connection and togetherness. ‘Staring at the Sun’ transforms the dance-punk TV on the Radio song into something sinister and celestial. ‘Unfolding’ is almost a companion piece to ‘In my body’, an ethereal torch song about romantic openness and the small miracle of being understood by another. “Patiently hoping, with no choice but to be open” as TVW sings. Piano ballad closer, ‘Circuit’ looks beyond the purview of romantic love, and revels in the beautiful back-and-forth, and exchange of energies, involved in stimulating, life-affirming conversation. “The album has been the blueprint for so much magic to happen” says TVW, “interpreting the record into live shows with my band and creating the visual world for it with my friend and director/friend Jyo Miyaji, the music has this lovely and resonant quality that has taken on a life of its own. It feels like a gift.”
TVW began playing music at seven years old, after she was given a keyboard. Silver Halide Film follows her a suite of beloved singles, including ‘Young Lovers Do’, which appeared on Netflix’s Outer Banks, accumulating over 300k streams on Spotify, and a collaboration with Now Always Fades for his LP Into the Doldrums (2025). TVW and her band have performed widely across Australia and recently Japan.
Silver Halide Film is out now across streaming services and on limited-edition 12″ vinyl. You can purchase a physical copy of the album via Bandcamp or your local record store. Stores can request a copy of the vinyl via Rocket.
Stay up to date with Tilly Vickers Willis.
FROM ASHES TO NEW Release New Album Reflections Via Better Noise Music. Shares “Forever” Video
From Ashes To New are proud to release their new album Reflections, today via

Today, the quintet also shares the video for “Forever.” The song weaves contemplative verses with epic and explosive choruses and breakdowns, and it ultimately demonstrates the band’s deftness with dynamics.

“‘Forever’ came together at the very end of the record, almost like it was waiting for everything else to fall into place before it could exist,” Brandyberry shares. “There’s a sense of finality to it, like standing in the aftermath of something you can’t fix, realizing too late where it all went wrong. It paints a picture of how it feels when regret won’t let go.”
He continues, “We pushed ourselves further than we ever have on this one. We made choices that felt uncomfortable, but that’s what helped shape it into something different for us. The goal wasn’t to play it safe; it was to evolve and create something that sticks with you. ‘Forever’ doesn’t resolve cleanly…It lingers, and that’s exactly what we wanted.”
As for the album as a whole, the band explains, “It’s not a concept album by design, but there’s a common theme running through it — that feeling of being stuck in a kind of purgatory, where you can almost see something better ahead of you, but there’s always something dragging you back down.”
It is also a moment for From Ashes to New, but not simply a moment in time. The band finishes, “This record is a reflection of who we were while making it, but even more than that, it’s a statement of who we’re becoming. Every song helped shape a sound that feels honest to where we’re headed, not where we’ve been. We didn’t hold anything back, and you can hear that in every moment.”
The 12-track REFLECTIONS is the follow-up to 2023’s BLACKOUT, which achieved the #1 spot on several iTunes and Spotify Rock and Metal charts across the globe. It was a massive success. Yet, in late 2023, FROM ASHES TO NEW arrived at a creative crossroads. The group wrapped up demos for 16 songs for what was supposed to be their fifth studio album. However, instead of sprinting towards the finish line and completing the record, the band scrapped those demo sessions. The process went against everything the band had ever done before. But largely starting anew —they kept two songs—was liberating. The band collectively knew it had to make something that remained true to their traditional sound yet broadened the tent to capture the ears and focus of a fresh audience. “I wanted to take what we are good at and push it even further,” Brandyberry says. “That was the process for this whole record.”
As a result, fans can hear a reinvigorated FROM ASHES TO NEW on REFLECTIONS.

THE EASTERN DARK’s classic 1985 single – and love letter to the Ramones – “JOHNNY AND DEE DEE”/”JULIE IS A JUNKIE” finally reissued!
THE LONG-AWAITED REISSUE MARKS THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PASSING OF EASTERN DARK GUITARIST/VOCALIST/SONGWRITER (AND, PRIOR TO THAT, CELIBATE RIFLES BASSPLAYER) JAMES DARROCH
Grown Up Wrong! Records follows up its recent Lipstick Killers’ Tour De Force: Live in Adelaide 1979 LP with more exciting Australian rock’n’roll from the vaults: a reissue of a classic Australian 45 by THE EASTERN DARK and archival LP releases from two Australian power pop bands of the late ’70s, BEATHOVEN and THE BREAKERS. Exclusive editions of each are avalable for RSD UK.
THE EASTERN DARK “JULIE IS A JUNKIE”/”JOHNNY AND DEE DEE” 7″
To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the passing of James Darroch, singer/ songwriter/guitarist for Sydney’s incredible The Eastern Dark, Grown Up Wrong! is thrilled to announce a long-awaited reissue of the band’s classic 1985 single “Julie Is A Junkie/Johnny and Dee Dee”.
Heavily influenced by the Ramones – the band opened their first live show with ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’ and from then on opened with a new Ramones song every time they played, working through the band’s complete catalogue in chronological order – and all manner of hyper-melodic and high energy pop and rock of the ’60s and ’70s, The Eastern Dark were a classic trio. Powered by former Celibate Rifles bassplayer James Darroch’s blazing guitar, and anchored by former Lime Spiders backing vocalist Bill Gibson’s hard driving and melodic bass playing (and supreme backing vocals) and Geoff Milne’s untouchable beat keeping, they set Sydney’s Radio Birdman-influenced scene alight in 1984 and quickly built an international following on the back of their classic single. Sadly, just hours after completing what would become their next release – the mini-LP Long Live the New Flesh – on 4 March 1986, the band’s life, and that of 25-year old James Darroch, was brutally ended in a road accident whilst the band was on its way to Melbourne.
On the back of the tragedy, the band’s timeless music lived on and its global impact was reflected in the influence it bore on numerous bands, from Boston’s the Lemonheads (Evan Dando was such a fan he had Bill Gibson join the Lemonheads in the ‘90s!) to Tokyo’s Teengenerate, and obviously a succession of Australian bands from the Hard-Ons through to God, the Meanies, Mach Pelican and beyond.
After years of searching, surviving members Bill Gibson and Geoff Milne recently found the single’s original multi-track tapes, and for the new release, the original recordings (which were produced by Radio Birdman’s Rob Younger) have been both remixed and remastered (by Aussie power pop wizard Michael Carpenter) for maximum impact under their supervision. This new edition is the first time the tracks have been available on vinyl since the original single went out of print some four decades ago.
The reissue is available in limited edition black, yellow, green and red vinyl pressings.
Also available on Grown Up Wrong!

The Runaway Strings share the reflective ‘Baby When It’s Gone, It’s Gone’ New single out now

Hot on the heels of their debut single ‘Big Gold Watch’, Ararat-based trio The Runaway Strings return with their latest offering, the heartfelt ‘Baby When It’s Gone, It’s Gone’. Built around the band’s signature blend of guitar, ukulele, banjo, and harmonica, the track sets aside the tongue-in-cheek humour of their debut in favour of a more sentimental, reflective tone, while still retaining the wit and honesty that define their sound.
The track captures singer Peter Harrison’s realisation that, despite a lifelong desire to visit the United States – the birthplace of much of his favourite music and the land that lent fertile ground to such a rich cultural heritage – it no longer exists as he once imagined.
“People like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jack White, the list is long,” explains Peter. “But about a year ago I realised that that America was gone, it’s something else now. So, I guess in a weird way it’s about the change we’re seeing in America, and my own little take on that. In a strange way it kind of feels like watching a friend go off the rails. I thought that by the time we released it would hopefully be irrelevant and I would have missed the moment. I haven’t.”
Formed in 2023 during a chance encounter on Halloween, The Runaway Strings came together through coincidence and shared musical instinct. Core members Peter and Jiah (husband and wife) had already spent years playing music together when a spontaneous front-porch banjo session led to the meeting of third member Lionel, turning a costumed Halloween night into the band’s current incarnation.
‘Baby When It’s Gone, It’s Gone’ was recorded at Greenhills Sound studio in Blackwood, VIC with Bobby Bravington. It was produced by Peter Harrison, with mixing and engineering by Bobby. It was mastered by Nao Anzai.
“Gravelly vocals, a truthful exposé of the grind of working a 9-5 job, and old timey banjo and harmonica blend together in toe-tapping catharsis here. Distinctly enjoyable.”
Americana Highways
The Runaway Strings have racked up an impressive live resume between the three members, having played the likes of the National Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, and Guildford Banjo Jamboree, also opening for Tim Scanlan. With the release of their debut single ‘Big Gold Watch’, the trio enjoyed praise from the likes of Americana Highways and airplay across 4ZZZ, RTR, PBS and many more.

Luke Biscan returns with ‘Nothing To Do With Us’
New single out now
Listen and download the track here:
SoundCloud Smart URL | AMRAP
Geelong-based singer-songwriter Luke Biscan releases his first new music of 2026 with the reflective and deeply personal single ‘Nothing To Do With Us’. A stunning acoustic ballad complemented by lush orchestral flourishes, the track explores the complexities of a son’s relationship with his father, delivered with Biscan’s characteristically understated and honest songwriting style.
At the heart of the song is a portrait of Biscan’s father, the founding lead guitarist of Australian band Goanna who later left music behind to become a missionary in England. Living a modest life, he worked a 9–5 job while spending his evenings helping those in need throughout Bristol’s roughest neighbourhoods. His steady generosity and care left a lasting impression.
The song reflects both the similarities and differences between father and son. While his father left Geelong for Bristol driven by faith, Biscan eventually made the reverse journey to pursue music on his own terms. Rather than resolving that tension, ‘Nothing To Do With Us’ leans into it, with its central lyric, “Maybe this whole thing’s got nothing to do with us, but something to do with love,” offering a sense of openness rather than resolution.
Musically, the track reflects Biscan’s appreciation for restraint and atmosphere. Raised on classic rock like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, he has increasingly gravitated toward songwriters who allow space to shape the emotional weight of a track. True to that ethos, the song’s orchestral textures were captured in an intimate setting, with a pair of players from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra recording their parts in a friend’s kitchen in Melbourne. The result is a recording that feels polished without losing its human edges.
‘Nothing To Do With Us’ was recorded and engineered by Jaron Jay, who also performed piano, acoustic and electric guitar on the recording. It was mixed and mastered by Issac Barter.Since appearing on The Voice Australia in 2020, where he was mentored by Guy Sebastian and reached the battle rounds, Luke Biscan has continued to build momentum as an independent artist. His releases, including ‘All The Rage’, have gained over 20,000 views on YouTube and contributed to more than 470,000 streams on Spotify, alongside airplay on K Rock 95.5 and coverage from Forte Magazine and the Geelong Advertiser.

TORI FORSYTH UNVEILS ‘YOU AND ME’ HER FIRST-EVER LOVE SONG. AN INTIMATE, BITTERSWEET NEW SINGLE FROM HER FORTHCOMING NEW ALBUM.
PERFORMING AT HOLLERGIRL MUSIC FESTIVAL IN JUNE
Tori Forsyth steps into new emotional territory with her new single ‘You and Me’, a quietly powerful release that captures a moment of love exactly as it was lived – unfiltered, uncomplicated and, fleeting.
While Forsyth has built her reputation on songs of resilience and emotional grit, ‘You and Me’ marks a striking departure; it’s the first time she’s written a love song. True to form, however, the story behind it resists a simple narrative.
Written by Forsyth and recorded at The Grove Studios in Sydney alongside Scott Horscroft (Brooke McClymont & Adam Eckersley, Birds Of Tokyo) the new single holds onto a specific moment in time before hindsight, before endings, before meaning shifts.
“This is the first love song I’ve ever written, which feels slightly ironic given I wrote it about my ex… and we broke up not long after I recorded it,” says Tori, “But at the time it was very real – it’s about wanting to escape everything and just exist with someone you love.”
Rather than reframing the song through what came after, ‘You and Me’ stays grounded in that original feeling. There’s no revisionism, just the honesty of what it meant in the moment. That immediacy carries through the recording with Forsyth’s vocals front and centre, supported by a restrained and organic arrangement by Matthew Newton on Guitar, Zachary Miller on Bass, Reece Baines on Drums and Andy Mak on Keys, that allows the sentiment to breathe.
Accompanying the release is the official video, directed by Bradley Murnane (Last Shop, Yardsticks, The Boy Who Cried Mud), who also directed Forsyth’s ‘I’m Not God’ video. Shot primarily on film, the video follows the aftermath of being jilted at the altar, with scenes set in and around a swimming pool.
Fresh from performing at Universal Music’s All Australian Country Showcase last month, Tori has been announced to perform at the Hollergirl Music Festival in Kentucky USA, this June. Alongside this announcement Tori is also getting ready to lock in more Australian show dates soon.

TEAR DRIVE RELEASE SOUL-STIRRING DEBUT EP FACE TO FACE + ON TOUR WITH THE JUNGLE GIANTS THIS JUNE
From bedroom jams to national tours, today Tear Drive release their debut EP Face to Face including focus track ‘Better Off’ and an accompanying music video. The project lands ahead of their EP Launch at the Brightside, Brisbane on May 22 and an upcoming national tour supporting The Jungle Giants this June.
Face To Face, created alongside ARIA-Award winning producer Cody McWaters, signals the arrival of an act on the verge of something far bigger. The five-track EP captures Tear Drive hitting their stride. Pairing anthemic soundscapes and pounding rhythm sections with disarming and emotionally-grounded songwriting, Face to Face is a constant push and pull, ultimately settling as a body of work that is as expansive as it is intimate.
Focus track ‘Better Off’ is a moment of vulnerability after things have fallen apart – a confession from a safe distance. From quiet sensitivity, the track builds to a cathartic and liberating release – sweeping guitars and a driving rhythm section juxtapose an improvised cello arrangement with hints of melancholic piano. It’s intentionally cinematic, taking listeners on an emotional journey both sonically and lyrically.
Gabe and Nic originally wrote ‘Better Off’ in their bedrooms when they were just 17, before Tear Drive was even a whisper of a thought. Since then, the song has grown with the boys. The lyrics move between longing and resignation, hope and acceptance. ‘There’s a strange sense of safety attached to admitting the truth when the ship has essentially sailed.’
Alongside the release, Tear Drive share a music video for ‘Better Off’ which you can watch here.
With their debut EP now out in the world, the band are hitting the road supporting The Jungle Giants on an upcoming nationwide tour. This is the latest addition to Tear Drive’s already impressive live resume, including opening slots for Keli Holiday, The Velvet Club and Bean Magazine along with their own sold out headline shows. Tickets for their EP launch at The Brightside on May 22 are available from 10AM today, here.

Cardboard Cutouts embrace individuality on new single ‘Cheap Shirt’
Following a triumphant 2025 culminating in their debut album Politics and Footy Tips, regional Queenslanders Cardboard Cutouts today return with their new single ‘Cheap Shirt’. Listen HERE.
Written after a negative experience in Townsville during their regional tour last year, frontman Eliot Argus reflects: “We were heckled and called a bunch of slurs on the street. It was something that we hadn’t really experienced before as a unit, and was pretty confronting! We wrote this song as a bit of an F U to that situation and the type of people that are so bold with poor behaviour. It is a song for our people. People who aren’t afraid of being who they want to be and owning themselves for who they are despite outside noise.”
Cardboard Cutouts’ debut album showcased their knack for creating music that cleverly balances strong melodic hooks with complex musicianship, taking songs from soaring, singalong-worthy choruses into surprising genre-blending twists and turns. On ‘Cheap Shirt’, the band retains this signature charm while embracing a compelling pop influence, with Eliot’s earnest and distinctly Australian vocal ringing bright and confident.
It’s a song that will be a welcome addition to the band’s heartfelt and exhilarating live shows, which have seen the band build a strong sense of community and connect with audiences across the country, from their days playing high school events to sharing stages with the likes of Grinspoon’s Phil Jamieson, Greta Stanley, Vera Blue, Concrete Surfers and more.
Last year, the band played over 25 shows throughout Australia, including their first ticketed headline shows, and an extensive regional headline tour that finished up with a sold out hometown crowd. They also supported US heavyweights Origami Angel and Michael Cera Palin, as well as Australiana-folk favourite Suzi. Their debut album proved to resonate with audiences and tastemakers alike, having garnered support from triple j and Unearthed, plus Spotify playlisting, extensive community radio play, and praise from the likes of Happy Mag, HEAVY, The Pitch of Discontent, Sounds of Oz and more.
Cardboard Cutouts are Eliot Argus (rhythm guitar and vocals), Campbell Patterson (lead guitar and vocals), Rohan Parker (drums), and Sebastian Czaran (bass guitar and vocals).

ANDY JANS-BROWN and CAMERON SPIKE-PORTER ‘RADIO SONG’ (SINGLE)
‘Radio Song’, the third single and music video from the forthcoming album ‘Airport Departure Lounge’, is out Friday 17th April 2026
Following the release of “Sunset or Sunrise,” Australian indie artists Andy Jans-Brown & Cameron Spike-Porter return with “Radio Song”; an upbeat, indie pop-rock anthem that dances on the fault line between digital sedation and human connection.
On the surface, it’s infectious and euphoric; a classic sing-a-long indie Pop-Rock foot tapper, but underneath, it’s a lyrical protest song.
Inspired by Christopher Wylie’s exposé ‘Mindfck*’, which details how Cambridge Analytica weaponised psychological profiling to isolate individuals, erode resilience, and make them more politically vulnerable, “Radio Song” asks a simple but unsettling question:
What happens when democracy becomes an algorithm?
“We’re drip-fed dopamine,” Jans-Brown sings, “caught in a ludic loop.”
Screens glow. War scrolls past cat videos. Protest sits beside parody and outrage becomes entertainment.
“Radio Song” is its own rebellion, not through rage, but through rhythm. A refusal to surrender joy. A refusal to let outrage colonise the nervous system.
“If you can isolate people and weaken their support systems, they become far more susceptible to influence,” Wylie argues in Mindfck*, describing the psychological architecture behind modern political manipulation.
Rather than succumb to that architecture, Jans-Brown proposes something radical: presence.
“Yeah the music’s the way we feel, And we’re done with being naïve, cause we would rather be the fool for what we love.”
In the broader arc of Airport Departure Lounge, an album exploring liminal spaces, heartbreak, political unease, and the fluorescent purgatory of modern life “Radio Song” feels like a turning point. It’s the moment a passenger looks up from the departure screen and decides to step outside the terminal for a moment of fresh air.
The track leans into jangling guitars and buoyant melodies reminiscent of R.E.M, Wilco and The Pixies; pairing anxiety with lift. It doesn’t deny the smog, it simply insists on oxygen.
At a time when misinformation spreads faster than empathy and extremist politics regain mainstream traction, “Radio Song” offers neither denial nor despair.
It offers dance. It offers chorus. It offers a window seat view from above, where music itself is the perspective. It’s radio-friendly, but subverted by lyrical depth and irony all filtered through Jans-Brown’s distinctly human voice, Spike-Porter’s cinematic guitar layering and driven along to snappy unmistakable beat of Grant Gerathy on drums.
The album was mixed by Cameron Spike-Porter and mastered by Jordan Power.
The first two singles have been referred to as; “Classic indie rock that enchants and fills stadiums with sing-alongs” – Portamento
“A magnificent masterpiece that you should start listening to right now” -Rockola Indie
Building on the acclaim of ‘Falling’, which Keyline Magazine called “an indie rock masterpiece”, Airport Departure Lounge deepens Jans-Brown and Spike-Porter’s reputation for emotionally resonant, socially engaged music. Jamsphere Magazine described the duo as “among the most creative forces in indie rock today,” while journalist Fernando Dávila wrote: “Andy Jans-Brown is magic… his voice is bones, blood, soul, flesh and power; a real human giving all in a song.”
Radio Song will be available on all major streaming platforms. Album and tour dates will be announced soon.

RYAN BINGHAM AND THE TEXAS GENTLEMEN SHARE NEW SINGLE “BLUE SKIES”
OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FEATURES FOOTAGE FROM NEW JEFF NICHOLS-DIRECTED SHORT FILM
NEW ALBUM THEY CALL US THE LUCKY ONES OUT MAY 15
Acclaimed Oscar and Grammy-winning musician Ryan Bingham has shared his new song, “Blue Skies,” with The Texas Gentlemen overnight; listen/share HERE and watch the official music video HERE. The video features footage from the Jeff Nichols-directed (Mud, Loving,Midnight Special) short film, Love Letter to Texas, which debuted at SXSW this year and stars Bingham alongside Michael Shannon and Hassie Harrison, with narration from Sissy Spacek. Love Letter to Texas includes “Blues Skies” and serves as a tribute to the legacy of iconic Texas films and the storytellers behind them
Already receiving critical attention, Rolling Stone declares, “‘Blue Skies’ is Bingham in his element, turning the rawest of feelings into simple lyrics impossible to misconstrue.”
The song is the latest unveiled from Bingham’s highly anticipated new album, They Call Us The Lucky Ones, out May 15 via The Bingham Recording Co./Thirty Tigers (pre-order/pre-save HERE). His first full-length project in over seven years, the album further cements Bingham as one of the most authentic and compelling voices in American music. Across the album’s 10 tracks, including previous releases “Ballad of The Texas Gentlemen,” “The Lucky Ones,” “Twist the Knife” and “Americana,” Bingham reflects on the highs and lows of an artist’s life on the road and his newfound sense of joy and hope, all framed by the unique genre-defying sound he and The Texas Gentlemen create together.
“This album was probably the most fun I’ve had making a record,” Bingham reflects. “I’ve always loved records that feel loose and live and gritty with a bit of soul, where the imperfections from the moment are left in. Working with musicians as talented as The Texas Gentlemen really let us lean into that in a way I hadn’t experienced before. There was an unspoken understanding between us about what each song needed, so we tracked most of it live with minimal overdubs, just playing and letting the feel lead. It finally felt like I was capturing these songs the way I always heard them in my head. We can’t wait to get out on the road and share them with fans.”
Ahead of the release, Bingham recently spoke with Rolling Stone, which calls the new album “as complete a record as Bingham has ever recorded,” while All Country News declares, “he proves again why he’s one of country’s most raw and magnetic storytellers.”
In addition to Bingham and The Texas Gentlemen—Ryan Ake (guitars), Daniel Creamer (piano, organ), Paul Grass (drums, percussion) and Scott Lee (bass)—the record also features Richard Bowden (fiddle, mandolin) and Cody Huggins (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, pedal steel).
They Call Us The Lucky Ones will be released on CD and vinyl in multiple variants, including Classic Black, Indie Retail exclusive “Electric Smoke”. Available for pre-order in Australia and New Zealand HERE.
Bingham is a Grammy, Oscar, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Award-winning singer-songwriter and actor whose raw, world-weary voice and evocative storytelling have made him one of the most distinctive artists of his generation. From his early years as a drifter and bull rider to penning “The Weary Kind” for the film Crazy Heart, Bingham has built a career defined by authenticity and artistic independence. His music—spanning folk, blues, country, and rock—reflects a life fully lived, blending grit, vulnerability, and resilience in equal measure.
Across six studio albums, two live records, and his 2023 self-produced EP Watch Out For The Wolf, Bingham has remained committed to unfiltered, genre-defying storytelling, most recently captured in his live album Live at Red Rocks. In addition to his acclaimed music career, he starred as fan-favorite “Walker” on Paramount’s record-breaking series Yellowstone. Beyond the stage and screen, Bingham has launched his own record label, founded the Fort Worth-based festival and rodeo, The Great Western, and introduced Bingham Spirits, beginning with Bingham’s Bourbon in 2024.
Joan & the Giants share empowering story of heartbreak and strength in new single ‘Mamma Don’t Cry’
Joan & the Giants are ready to break your heart and stitch it back together again, with the release of their emotionally candid and hopeful new single ‘Mamma Don’t Cry’ out today. Listen HERE.
Lyrically, the song captures the emotional moment frontwoman Grace Newton-Wordsworth confided in her mother about an abusive relationship. “We’d gone for coffee in Fremantle, and that’s when I finally told her what I had been through,” Grace reflects. “She broke down in tears, heartbroken that I hadn’t told her while it was happening. But the truth is, when you’re in it, you don’t really tell anyone. It takes every ounce of strength just to stop excusing it—and even more to finally walk away.”
Grace’s sweet vibrato transforms heartbreaking moments into hope, as she recounts moving into a sharehouse with three strangers after leaving the relationship, and the deep connection she developed with them on her healing journey: ‘They took my baggage and I cried on their shoulders / I’ve never known a love like this that comes with no conditions / I’ve never known safety or a house with no screaming.’
Co-produced by Joel Quartermain (G Flip, Oh Pep, Meg Mac) and Edwin White (Vance Joy, Amy Shark, Jack River), ‘Mamma Don’t Cry’ is a story of strength and metamorphosis. “It came from a time when I discovered just how strong I really was—and I’m proud of that. I felt like a butterfly leaving the cocoon, slowly finding freedom, peace, and a sense of self again.”
‘Mamma Don’t Cry’ comes just ahead of Joan & the Giants’ upcoming stint in the UK next month, where they are set to perform at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. The magnetic alt-pop rock group have plans to record new music while abroad, and will return ready to hit the ground running with plenty of live shows set to be announced in the coming months, including a Tuesday night residency at Fitzroy’s Old Bar throughout August.
The magnetic alt-pop rock outfit have shared stages with the likes of Everything Everything, The Vaccines, Weyes Blood, Teen Jesus and Jean Teasers, Sly Withers, Pacific Avenue, P!NK, Tones & I, Belinda Carlisle, Coterie and many more. Last year, they ventured over to the USA to make their SXSW Austin debut, and closed out 2025 with a national sold out tour in support of The Fray, as well as the release of their striking Seb Szabo collaboration ‘Figure It Out’.

“just you” Captures Raw Emotion As FRIDAY* Steps Back Into The Spotlight With EP Announcement ‘rituals’
Western Sydney’s own FRIDAY* is confidently stepping back into the spotlight to show just how precious time has proven to be with the release of his breathtaking new single “just you”. Alongside the single, he also announces his forthcoming EP rituals, a deeply personal body of work capturing the emotional cycles of growth, change, and self-discovery that have defined his early twenties. Hailed globally as the quintessential African popstar following the monumental success of his stellar debut EP Darling (2023), the anticipation for his solo return has been met with utter keenness. While fans have caught recent glimpses of his genius through his standout contribution on Dylan Atlantis’single Thought You’d Know By Now (2025) and manning the guitar for fellow Full Circle member Nick Ward, this new release marks a powerful evolution.
The new single “just you” is a stunningly cinematic exploration of emotional dependency and the desperate search for self worth within another person. Blending deeply nostalgic references with heavy atmospheric textures, the track pushes the boundaries of conventional pop by marrying intense emotional vulnerability with unexpected and danceable rhythms. It is a brilliant display of his signature ability to play with sonic contrast, creating a soundscape that perfectly introduces his creative vision before he explains the profound inspiration behind the track.
“Just You” is a song about searching for your own value in someone else. Inspired by shoegaze and the movie Bones and All, I wanted to channel all the melodrama I could muster into one song, perhaps as a way to never get that emo again. It wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t trying to play with contrast, so I added some classic New Jack Swing drums in the vein of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The result to me sounds like when the fireworks go off at the end of the Easter Show, and you can’t help but feel sad that it’s over.”

Firmly rooted in a rich community of trailblazing creatives, his collaborative pedigree further cements his status as a central figure in the modern music scene. He continues to shape the future of Australian music alongside his prominent co-signs and collaborations with the entire Full Circle collective, including heavy hitters like Nick Ward, Sollyy, Breakfast Road, Dylan Atlantis, and Zion Garcia. Beyond his immediate collective, his creative universe expands through brilliant work with Jerome Blazé, Station Hayds, Jack Slade, and Emjaysoul. As he prepares to unveil rituals, a project centred on breaking and reforming the patterns that shape us, “just you” offers the first glimpse into a darker, more textured sonic world — one that builds on the foundation of Darling while pushing further into emotional depth and sonic experimentation. With the release of “just you”, FRIDAY* is not just dropping a song, but solidifying his reign as one of the most distinctive and forward-thinking voices in the global music landscape today.

JIMI THE KWEEN NEW SINGLE ‘ALL I NEED’ OUT NOW ON NEW LABEL FROM QUEER CLUB SCENE ICONS, POOF DOOF RECORDS
“Recognised as a huge name in drag, Jimi The Kween is also an accomplished singer, dancer, musician, and DJ. Their powerhouse presence has earned them acclaim from audiences and the press, developing a reputation as an unmissable act on Australia’s festival scene.” The Music
Off the back of collaborating with the likes of Y.O.G.A (Peking Duk’s Rueben Styles), UK producer Riton and just announced to perform at Groovin The Moo, Jimi The Kween today releases ‘All I Need’, a song that delivers euphoric dance floor energy alongside anthemic, pop melodies. Alongside new music is the announcement that Jimi is the first signing to POOF DOOF RECORDS, a new record label born from queer club scene icons and long-time collaborators, POOF DOOF, as announced on Billboard earlier this week.
Over the last 15 years, Australia’s favourite queer party brand, POOF DOOF has been a jubilant celebration of queer culture and community. The club has hosted the likes of The Veronicas, Melanie C, Honey Dijon, to name a few and Jimi is the ultimate embodiment of everything it represents, marking an exciting new chapter for both label and Artist.
‘All I Need’ was born in a studio session in Los Angeles with producer Different Sleep where Troye Sivan was recording next door. “It was a mega gag moment,” Jimi recalls, and it brought something new to the process: what had started as a breakup song became something altogether more powerful, reshaped into an uplifting anthem of joy and belonging. “I felt so confident that day and I think it shows in the writing and the vocal.”
Known and celebrated as an Artist, DJ and drag queen, Jimi The Kween is a trailblazer in inclusivity and self-expression, creating safe dance spaces where everyone is free to be themselves. A dynamic live performer with a string of club singles under their belt, including ‘Feels Good’ alongside UK producer and banger icon Riton, Jimi has shared stages with Amyl & The Sniffers, Paris Hilton, and Kylie Minogue, equally at home on a festival dancefloor as in an intimate venue.
Jimi has performed at Gaytimes festival, Melbourne Pride, Music & Arts, Sydney WorldPride, Summer Camp, Wine Machine and played shows across New Zealand, Bali, Singapore and Los Angeles. Jimi is set to appear at the return of Groovin the Moo, performing nationally on a bill that includes Baker Boy, Denzel Curry, Dope Lemon, Ninajirachi and Matt Corby and also joins Electric Fields on 15 May at Oxford Art Factory, Sydney.
‘All I Need’ is out now on all streaming platforms.

Ghost Care bring the attitude on addictive new single ‘So Long’
with headline Perth show set for May 9
Supporting Ball Park Music in Fremantle next month
There truly is something in the water in Western Australia, and Ghost Care are here to prove it once again with their brand new single ‘So Long’, out today. Stream HERE. Fuelled by an utterly infectious concoction of bright melodic hooks and upbeat tempo underpinned by a healthy dose of attitude, ‘So Long’ is a modern day breakup anthem.
Frontman Beau Torrance says the new single “is about being with someone who is clueless to the fact that it’s over, and won’t acknowledge that they are not right for each other. It’s a song where you can say goodbye and good riddance with a bit of attitude – a good one for those people who maybe have ended a relationship, and want to move forward from the sad phase into the acceptance phase. We had a lot of fun bringing this one together in the studio.”
Produced and mixed by Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane, South Summit), ‘So Long’ sees Ghost Care incorporate more synth elements and pop sensibilities, while retaining their breezy and addictive indie rock sound. The track was mastered by Joe Carra (San Cisco, Amyl & The Sniffers).
Next month Ghost Care will treat WA fans to their high energy live shows across three dates, kicking off on May 9 with a headliner at The Bird in Perth, joined by Blush and Clare Perrott. Tickets are selling fast and available for purchase HERE. The band are also set to join Ball Park Music as support for their Freo Social shows on May 29 and 30.
Ghost Care have consistently gone from strength to strength, starting by carving out a devout local following, selling out headline shows in Perth. Since then the trio have been touring all across the country and securing a mass of impressive support slots for the likes of Spacey Jane, Teenage Dads, San Cisco, Sly Withers, The Vanns and South Summit. 2025 saw further success for Ghost Care, being selected as part of Live Nation’s Ones To Watch program’s first foray into WA and a national tour supporting indie darlings The Tullamarines. Last year also marked the release of their new EP Oh Positive, as well as an introduction to newest bandmate Emma Joan. The EP, along with their fresh energy as a group, further showcased the band’s unwavering knack for producing delightfully upbeat tracks, which are all at once charming, colourful, and heartfelt.

UKULELE DEATH SQUAD RETURN WITH SWAMPY NEW SINGLE ‘DAY DRINKING’
FROM UPCOMING EP, ESSENTIALLY MY LIFE IS A DISASTER
Australia’s most unpredictable and unforgettable musical collective, Ukulele Death Squad, today unveils their brooding new single ‘Day Drinking’ — the third taste of their forthcoming EP, Essentially, my life Is a disaster.
Following the joyous first single ‘Cooee’ and fan-favourite follow-up ‘Black Cat’, ‘Day Drinking’ reveals a darker, more introspective side of the eight-piece outfit, pairing emotional honesty with the band’s trademark musical chaos and theatrical punch.
A slow, dirty blues anthem built around an all-in chorus vocal, ‘Day Drinking’ sees commanding lead vocals from Ashlee Randell collide with Pidge’s slide guitar, Julian’s banjolele and a blistering saxophone solo — a swampy southern groove that only Ukulele Death Squad could deliver.
Lead vocalist Ash Randell says the track explores the discomfort that comes with life shifting beneath your feet.
“Day Drinking is a song about avoiding the pain of change. I can default to throwing myself into control or self-destruct modes, but real healing becomes possible when I learn — and re-learn — to sit in the discomfort. When I accept that my expectations don’t match reality, it makes way for crafting new paths and trusting that over time it won’t hurt so much. Repeatedly reminding myself: you have good things in your life, no matter how small, and you will be okay.”
Set for release on May 14, Essentially, my life Is a disaster captures Ukulele Death Squad at their most adventurous, blending heart-stopping ballads, wild humour and genre-hopping musicianship into one gloriously unfiltered collection. Recorded and mixed at Rolling Stock Studios throughout 2025, the EP moves through Australiana disco, grungy blues, Latin surf-rock and the band’s signature Balkan-inspired ukulele brass mania.
Ukulele Death Squad have built a cult reputation as the band no one can define but everyone wants to see live. Their explosive performances have won over audiences across Australia, New Zealand and Europe, with shows that blur the line between concert, cabaret and communal release.
With ‘Day Drinking’, the squad deliver another bold reminder that beneath the chaos lies real heart — and sometimes healing sounds loudest when sung together.
‘Day Drinking’ is out now. Essentially, my life Is a disaster is out May 14.

Pop-Metal Band Melrose Avenue Are ‘Angels for Animals’ in New Pro-Adoption PETA Campaign
Australian pop-metalcore hitmakers Melrose Avenue, who just dropped their new single “Bad Guy,” prove they’re anything but in a new PETA campaign calling on everyone to “be an angel” for animals by always adopting and never buying animals from pet shops or breeders.
In an accompanying video spot, the band says adopting animals “means giving them the loving, permanent home that they deserve,” then introduces all of their beloved companion animals—including vocalist Vlado Saric’s cat, guitarist Shawn Mayer’s dog, drummer Jed McIntosh’s five dogs, and guitarist Mitchell Black’s two adopted rabbit siblings—one of whom, Austin, is immortalised in a portrait tattoo just above his wrist.
Australian shelters are bursting at the seams, and every time a breeder sells a puppy, a dog waiting in an animal shelter or struggling to survive on the streets loses a chance at finding a loving home. As Saric points out in the video, “We made sure to adopt our animals and not buy them. When someone buys an animal from a pet store or a breeder, another animal gets bred to take their place.”
“So if you’re ready to take care of an animal, remember: adopt, don’t shop,” Mayer concludes.
Melrose Avenue joins a long list of musicians—including The Home Team, Davey Havok of AFI, Asking Alexandria, Jhene Aiko, Rise Against, Scott Shriner of Weezer, and Pierce the Veil—who’ve teamed up with PETA entities to promote kindness to animals.
PETA— whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way.”— points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits. For more information, please visit PETA.org.au and follow PETA on Facebook and Instagram.
Max Aurora & The Southern Lights Share Loud Indie-Punk Anthem ‘How I Know It’s Right’

Watch ‘How I Know It’s Right’ Music Video
There is a particular kind of clarity that comes after walking away from a fractured relationship. Naarm/ Melbourne outfit Max Aurora & The Southern Lights capture that sentiment with their indie/ pop-punk anthem ‘How I Know It’s Right’.
For the unfamiliar, Max Aurora & The Southern Lights blend their dreamy, bittersweet indie rock with the punch of pop-punk and emo. Led by intersex / non-binary songwriter Max Aurora, they explore narrative-driven songwriting, often inhabiting different characters’ perspectives, drawing on empathy, imagery and lived experience. Winners of Melbourne’s Women in Music mentorship for their 2023 debut single, Max Aurora & The Southern Lights promise a stack of new music in 2026.
Blending driving indie instrumentals with the punch and immediacy of pop-punk, ‘How I Know It’s Right’ is loud without losing control, as explosive arrangements meet Max Aurora’s unfiltered take on messy heartbreaks.
Produced by Cry Club’s Jono O’Tooke, the track is built on a tight, restless interplay between its members. The tune’s beating heart brings overwhelming energy and a sense of craziness after a heartbreak as Jack Eden’s heavy, overdriven guitar riffs cut through the mix, grounded by Sonja Down’s punchy, controlled drums and Damon Brammall’s gritty basslines.
Paired with Max’s considered disposition and melodic hooks, the song explores the pull toward connection in the aftermath of an unstable relationship. ‘How I Know It’s Right’ unpacks these emotions through vulnerable lyricism set against the dynamic, explosive instrumentation. Speaking on the track, Max shares:
“’Written in a single night, ‘How I Know It’s Right’ explores the quiet relief of leaving a fractured relationship and the curiosity of what a wholesome love could feel like. It explores the urgent, wide-eyed wonder of what a truly wholesome connection feels like, and the restless patience in searching for it.”
Assertive and unapologetic, ‘How I Know It’s Right’ from Max Aurora & The Southern Lights is out now.

‘GINA WILLIAMS & GUY GHOUSE LIVE AT THE ELLINGTON’ DOUBLE VINYL LIVE ALBUM TO BE RELEASED ON JULY 2
After 15 years of performing around the world, recording studio albums and unveiling two opera works, Gina Williams Ghouse and Guy Ghouse will release a live album, Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse – Live At The Ellington on July 2.
It’s an especially emotional release as it follows the passing of Guy Ghouse AM in November 2025, following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He had been made a member of the Order of Australia only months before.
The album release is all part of Gina’s ongoing commitment to what she created over the years with her husband and musical partner, Guy. Across four albums and countless performances, the multi-award winning duo shone a light on traditional Noongar language, sharing and teaching it through song and warm audience interaction, and very much keeping it alive.
During 2024 Gina and Guy were keen to expand their song presentation into a full-band setting, with a view to creating more performance opportunities at festivals across Australia and the world. They hand-picked WA musicians Russell Holmes (piano/keyboard), Dr Nick Abbey (bass), Dr Daniel Susnjar (drums) and Rupert John (harmonica).
“What Guy and I did together ultimately stood up, but we were really just trying to see if there were other opportunities to do different things and one of those was with the band,” Gina says. “We’d get together occasionally and they’re such lovely, incredible musicians, the idea that we could work with them more often… that was a real cookie.
“Guy articulated it really, really well – ‘It’s not just about your capacity and ability to play music, it’s also your heart’. We needed people that actually understood not just what we did, but why we did it, what motivated us, what pressed our buttons. We really loved it. We didn’t just have what we did; we believed in it. I still do.”
Having been known for years as a duo, a gig was booked by manager Paul Bodlovich at Ellington Jazz Club in July 2024 as a means to document the full band experience on video to later showcase to festival promoters. In a prescient move the gig was also captured on a 16-track recording, which gives us the gift of this live album today.
“Everyone was on, and Guy was at his absolute best,” Gina says. “I feel like it actually was meant to be. It was like this perfect storm that got captured.”
Live At The Ellington features album and gig favourites such as Bindi Bindi, Koolbardi wer Wardong, Bilya-k, Koorlangka, Djidi Djidi, Koondarm, Meenak Bilya (Moon River) and Ngarda Djinda Kedalak (Under The Milky Way), plus some previously unheard gems.
“There’s a couple of songs that we haven’t recorded,” Gina explains. “The first song is called Ngalang Moort Kalyakoorl, which is Our People Forever. It’s a hybrid English Noongar song, and we get the audience to sing with us. I listen to it, and audience is really there, and they’re with us. Guy and I wrote that song in Bali together a couple of years back. It was one of the songs that we would get around to recording, but we never had, we never got to do that… and now it’s there.
“Another one is Noonang Koort Warra, which is Your Wicked Heart. It’s out of our first opera called Koolbardi wer Wardong. It’s the big opera song, and I’ve never heard myself sing it, if that makes sense. The band actually play it when they tour with the opera, so they know it really intimately. I listen back to it and just go, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe that we wrote that’. It just sounds extraordinary.”
Live At The Ellington is being released on double vinyl…
“… and vinyl only,” Gina notes. “Guy and I grew up in an era of vinyl and so for me, I’ve always wanted to have a record. A proper record. So to have a double album there’s something really beautiful about that. It feels like there’s lots of full circles happening that we get to release something in a medium that we grew up with.”
For Gina the release of Live At The Ellington is an emotionally complex mix of both grief and gratitude. The album itself honours an ongoing legacy as well as the memory and musicality of the late Guy Ghouse.
“There’s all these beautiful little moments where Guy does something a bit cheeky, and I’ll giggle at him,” Gina says, fondly. “The audience is calling out and saying things, and I love that banter.
“It’s really special, but the highlights are any time you hear Guy playing, because it brings him into the room, and if you shut your eyes, he’s really there.”
Proudly supported by the WA Government, Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse: Live At The Ellington is released through Aural Sets Sounds on July 2 and will be launched at the Ellington Jazz Club on July 5. Gina and band will be joined onstage by special guests including Daniel Drieberg, Lucky Oceans, Luci Poy and Rupert John.
