SARAH CARROLL TO RELEASE NEW EP GET LOW IN TIME FOR HER APPEARANCES AT THE PORT FAIRY FOLK FESTIVAL. NEW SINGLE “LIFE IS SAD” OUT NOW
Get Low is the new EP from revered Victorian songwriter and musician Sarah Carroll; an intelligent and adventurous 5 song trip which takes listeners from the intimacy, playfulness and pain of love to a wide-screen view of life itself. The title track is a rocksteady ode to self-belief. Recorded at Zac Barter’s beautiful studio in Highton, Victoria, performed by a tight gang of Sarah’s dearest friends, Get Low is presented with pride by Cheersquad Records & Tapes.
Get Low will be available as a 5 track CD and digitally on 4 March 2026, with pre-orders available from today. The first single from the album, the powerful country song “Life Is Sad”, is available immediately to anyone who pre-orders the album via Bandcamp:
https://sarahcarroll.bandcamp.com/album/get-low
The EP is released ahead of Sarah’s appearances at this year’s Port Fairy Folk Festival.
Sarah Carroll is an individual who simply oozes musicality: a gorgeous, soulful singer, a beautiful instrumentalist, and someone who has an intrinsic understanding of all manner of roots music. Her songs chime with sincerity and deal largely with her experiences as a teacher, mother, wife, political animal and touring musician.
Following the release of her 6th studio album, NQR&B on Cheersquad Records & Tapes, in mid 2024, Sarah and her 4-piece band The Big Fuss toured Victoria and NSW, with keen interest and support from radio and print media. Sarah was invited to open for Tim Rogers on his regional Vic tour in December 2024, and in between, launched a new album with her band The Cartridge Family. More recently, Sarah has been testing her new material over summer while touring with her longtime guitarist Shannon Bourne supporting Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows!
The release of NQR&B followed Sarah’s stint as Australian Musician Magazine’s Musician of the Month and was celebrated with a lengthy feature in Rhythms. NQR&B was 3PBS FM Feature Album of the Week and part of 3RRR’s Soundscape and was in several Top 10s in Rhythms Magazine’s readers and writers’ polls at the end of 2024.
In addition to her solo work, Sarah is known for her contribution to bands such as GIT, The Pirates Of Beer, Soft Gold, The Left Wing, The Settledowns and The Junes, her work with her late husband, the legendary harmonica player and singer-songwriter Chris Wilson and their sons, the acclaimed singer/songwriters Fenn Wilson and George Carroll Wilson, as well as her decades of broadcasting and music writing experience.

HAIL THE SUN ANNOUNCES FIRST AUSTRALIAN HEADLINE TOUR IN JUNE 2026
Hail The Sun have announced their first Australian headline tour in June 2026, in support of their newest record cut. turn. fade. back
The band have toured extensively on their latest release, with sold out shows and massive stages across North America, the UK, Europe and South America.
In the midst of it all, the band will return for a full national tour, covering Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth following a rapturous debut in Australia in February 2025 alongside touring partners The Fall of Troy and Closure in Moscow.
Anybody familiar with Hail The Sun will know there’s always a great deal of meaning
beneath the surface. Their’s are songs the probe the very nature of existence, that strive to find the answers to the fundamental questions that being human raises, and that don’t flinch away from any form of self-reflection whatsoever.
That’s been the case since the band – lead vocalist Donovan Melero, guitarists Shane Gann and Aric Garcia, bassist John Stirrat and drummer Allen Casillas – formed in Chico, CA in 2009, but is especially the case on cut. turn. fade. back, their seventh full-length.
This record truly goes the distance
“The album touches on a lot of topics such as military atrocities, humanitarian crises, addiction and love being lost, as well as death,” says Garcia.
“So many of those things are recurring, and as much as we’d like for things to change and be better and live in a perfect world, it’s more that things seem to get better for a little bit and then take a turn – and before we know it, we’re right back where we started.”
Across its 11 songs, cut. turn. fade. back captures the cyclical nature of all those things, as well as life itself in general. That wasn’t the specific intention when the band began writing the record, but when Melero started writing lyrics for and to the music, that’s the overarching theme that began to emerge. 2023’s previous record, Divine Inner Tension, had seen Hail The Sun intentionally relinquish creative control to the universe, and they continued with that mindset on this one as well, by bending to its whims.
“For the most part,” says Melero, “we’re always living in that mindset of creating our own realities, doing what we want, and letting the universe do its thing. I would describe this as another cycle of living in general. But it also comes from what I call a higher frequency mindset – an elevated purpose of trying to exist knowing we are the universe.”
And while the themes on this record certainly straddle a great divide, there’s one song in particular that carries more weight than most on the personal side of things. In fact, “Relapse Is A Love Affair” is almost as personal as it gets, detailing Melero’s inadvertent descent back into addiction. After a bout of kidney stones some two-and-a-half years ago, the singer began taking his medication too much and too often, which in turn led him to doing fentanyl.
“I’m pretty outspoken about my sobriety and how long I’ve been sober,” the singer says, “but that snuck up on me. And to my surprise, shortly before my 14 years clean, I relapsed for about six to eight weeks. But then I got clean again. I flew to Massachusetts and went through withdrawals. I was with my parents and it was a really awful time, but it inspired that song.”
Just as 2014’s second album, Wake, contained “Anti-Eulogy (I Hope You Stay Dead)”, a song about an active addiction framed as if addressing a person, “Relapse Is A Love Affair” personifies his experience in a similar way.
“It doesn’t matter if people take away the intended message from these songs,” says
Melero, “and I’m certainly not going to police it, but we do, as always, want to
encourage critical thinking. Fifteen years in, I love that we’ve been allowed this fan base to speak to. I feel very grateful and fortunate, and I hope that it keeps carrying us forward continues to be the thing that we can sustain life from.”
Ironically, given the title and the theme of the record, this could well be the album that sees them break the cycle for good.

ABOUT THE HELLACOPTERS
Less than three years after their triumphant, chart-storming comeback record, Eyes Of Oblivion, which entered on #1 in their home country, on #3 in Germany, and on #6 in Finland, Sweden’s most consistently great rock outfit is back with another banger of an album called Overdriver, due out on January 31st, 2025.
In the meantime, THE HELLACOPTERS have celebrated their triumphant return by playing a show with the mighty Iron Maiden in Gothenburg in July 2022, and gigs with Ghost in Germany in June 2023, apart from their own string of headline shows throughout Europe. Eager to keep the rock flowing, February 16th, 2024 saw THE HELLACOPTERS release not one, but two stunning versions of their classic Grande Rock album, which was originally released in 1999. Grande Rock Revisited included a remastered original version and a remixed and partially re-recorded version as a companion piece, showing how the album could have sounded in a parallel universe with guitarist Dregen being in the band at the time. After making rock grande again, the group set sights on new material, debuting the phenomenal single ‘Stay With You’ in May 2024 and releasing it as limited 7inch via Lightning Records.
Their ninth full-length Overdriver was recorded at Strawberry Studio & The Honk Palace and is the first HELLACOPTERS album entirely produced by Nicke Andersson. As you might expect from a HELLACOPTERS album it’s filled to the brim with roaring guitars and earth-shattering grooves, fist-raising energy and anthemic choruses, while keeping the variety richer than ever before. Overdriver was hailed by many as a career highlight and it was a huge success, entering the Swedish charts on #1 and the German charts on #6 upon release.

NAVISHA Ignites Desire and Intimacy With Fiery Single ‘You’ Single Out Now
Driven by a warm, intoxicating and upbeat groove, Boorloo-based soul/funk singer-songwriter Navisha returns with ‘You’. Wrapped in rhythm and sensual tension, the track leans into desire, temptation, and passion.
A WAAPA graduate, 19 year old Navisha has become recognised for songwriting that balances raw heartbreaking ballads and feel-good rhythms. Her previous independent releases, including ‘See Through’, reached #12 on local charts and established her presence in the Western Australian music scene alongside her headline shows throughout 2025.
‘You’ centres on the theme of intimacy, young love and lived moments. The song explores the process of finding oneself through closeness and capturing affection as something felt rather than announced. In contrast to her earlier releases, the track leans into funk-influenced grooves, allowing rhythm to carry the emotional weight. Navisha’s velvety voice remains the central piece. Navisha shares:
“I wrote ‘You’ following the journey of finding myself when I realised I was in love as a teenager, which I think we can all agree makes you blind to anything else happening around you. Carefree with only one thing on my mind, the energy of the song plays on that exact sentiment – forgetting about everything else and just being immersed in the moment, and just DANCE or GROOVE, or whatever makes your body feel good. The goal was to create a song that you can’t get out of your head, the same way you can’t get that person off your mind when you’re in love.”
Built on full-bodied electric guitars, velvety keyboard textures, and a steady rhythmic foundation, ‘You’ carries a sense of upbeat ease throughout its arrangement. Paired with catchy hooks, Navisha’s vocal delivery is passionate and sensual, carried by a smoky warmth and flirtatious phrasing that leans into late-night intimacy and slow-burning allure. Throughout the track, overdriven electric guitar phrasing weaves between tight riffs and expressive solos, adding grit and swagger that lifts the groove without overpowering its laid-back momentum.
With its flirtatious pulse and romantic heat, Navisha delivers a track made for late-night connection and slow-burning celebration. ‘You’ arrives just in time to soundtrack Valentine’s Day, setting the mood with warmth, confidence, and undeniable chemistry.
Hear it first now on all streaming platforms, then experience it live at her headline show on February 21 at the Indian Ocean Hotel, Perth.

*********
Superheaven will bring their post-hardcore grit, full-bodied and fuzzed-out distortion and hazy alternative melodies to Australia this April/May. With special guests, Angel Du$t, the tour pairs two of the most potent forces in the grunge revival and melodic hardcore together for one seismic tour.
Delivering fuzzed-out sonics, cathartic hooks and unyielding momentum that bridges ’90s alt-rock grit with the current wave of punk re-innovation, Superheaven are pure, raw emotion and driven energy. Formed from the ashes of Daylight in 2014, Superheaven have carved out a sound of post-hardcore heft and hazy melodies. Their 2015 breakthrough Ours Is Chrome earned a spot on Brooklyn Vegan’s “50 Best Punk & Emo Albums: 2015-2019,” while tracks like “Poor Aileen” landed them spots on festivals from Outbreak to Sick New World.
The bands streaming numbers are insane with “Youngest Daughter” well over the 200 million mark and their entire catalogue nudging half a billion!
Angel Du$t, have evolved from hardcore roots via frontman Justice Tripp’s time in
Trapped Under Ice into a genre-bending monster. Blending d-beat fury with pop hooks on records like A.D., Pretty Buff, and the highly acclaimed, Brand New Soul. A linchpin for the new generation, their eclectic spirit echoes the likes of Bad Brains while keeping things firmly fresh and updated. Blazing a trail for the next wave of aggressive artists to branch out into unabashedly melodic territory.
Tripp’s work is marked by an ever-evolving creativity that’s made him highly influential, but which has often put him a number of steps ahead of the very trends that he’s helped to inspire. Now Angel Du$t fearless and open-hearted tribute to all things rock, sees them right on the cutting edge. Tripp might forever be keeping an eye on the future, but Angel Du$t’s time is now!
Live, Superheaven’s shows unfold like a droning conversation among friends, muscular riffs underpin walls of feedback that effortlessly slide into hypnotic jams that leave rooms humming.
Angel Du$t, by contrast, is pure controlled chaos, a whirlwind of stage dives and singalongs that turns every room into a collective fever dream.
Together, both acts will give fans an evening of intensity like they rarely experience, trading the weight of isolation anthems for the joy of collective release.
These shows will be Superheaven’s first Australian dates in over a decade after recently returning from an extended hiatus and this tour marks a rare collision for two bands at the peak of their powers, redefining what a modern rock bill can feel like.

EVERGREY Gothenburg’s Masterminds of Melancholia
Announce 15th Studio Album, Architects Of A New Weave, Out June 5, 2026 via Napalm Records
Touring Australia This April/May
EVERGREY, Gothenburg’s masterminds of melancholia, offer up another outburst of beautiful darkness and turn their inner fire into something unstoppable: their intense fifteenth album, Architects Of A New Weave, will be released on June 5, 2026 via Napalm Records, just days before the band takes the stage as special guest to the undisputed kings of heavy metal, Iron Maiden, for two shows on their Run For Your Lives World Tour.
This is the wake-up call you didn’t know you needed: a plunge into thinning air, burning worlds, and lingering guilt—only to break free with fierce momentum. The album refuses to wallow. It ascends—fast, heavy, and cinematic.
But it refuses to hide in the dark. It rises: quick, fierce, and utterly transformative.
Stay tuned for new music coming soon!
Tom Englund about Architects Of A New Weave:
“We’ve literally never had this much trouble picking singles. And honestly? That’s the best problem we could possibly have. Every song on this record is fighting to be the one you hear first—because we poured everything into making an album we’re flat-out obsessed with. Like always there are no fillers, no compromises, just twelve tracks we’re stupidly proud of and will be for the rest of our lives. Pre-order the album now and join the weave!”
Pre-Order Architects Of A New Weave
lnk.to/Evergrey-ArchitectsoftheNewWeave/napalmrecords
Dive into Architects Of A New Weave’s standout tracks like “The World is on Fire”, “Leaving The Emptiness”, “Heaven”, and “The Prophecy”, and the breathtaking title anthem “Architects Of The New Weave”. Their choruses break through like sunlight piercing storm clouds: enormous, cinematic melodies that pull you upward, riffs with genuine weight and bite, and vocals dripping with raw, unflinching truth. In one breath, you’re shouldering buried longing; in the next, you’re weightless, fearless, endless. Scars transform into badges of survival, fractures fuel reinvention. In the second half of the album, fellow Gothenburg icon Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity, The Halo Effect, Grand Cadaver, Cemetery Skyline) joins Tom S. Englund in vocal duties for “A Burning Flame”, the voices of the two scene legends intertwined compellingly. Architects Of A New Weave was produced by Tom S. Englund and Vikram Shankar, with a stellar mix by Adam “Nolly” Getgood.
Among other exclusive formats, Architects Of A New Weave comes with a bonus album, containing bonus tracks “Heights” and “One Heart”, as well as an album mix of the previously released standalone single “OXYGEN!” (2025). Additionally, it features a demo version of “Longing”, instrumental tracks of “Leaving The Emptiness”, both new songs, as well as a live version of “Falling From The Sun”, the hit single off the previous record, Theories of Emptiness (2024) and continuation of “Ominous” off of A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament) (2022).
Chaos doesn’t claim victory—you do. You step forward as the weaver, rethreading belief, identity, connection, and the very shape of tomorrow into something stronger, brighter, unbreakable. This is melodic, progressive, dark metal at its most massive and intimate: heavy enough to shift mountains, anthemic enough to make you raise your fist and truly believe it. It carries one unshakable truth straight to your core: Nothing—not pain, not darkness, not any storm—gets to label you broken. You’re the power that gathers the fragments and forges real beauty from them. Dream weavers rising. Architects are stepping up to claim what comes next. If you’ve ever felt that inner tug—quiet or roaring—to rewrite your story on your own terms, with zero apologies and complete ownership, this is the soundtrack that turns the urge into certainty. Your battle cry. Your hymn for renewal, creation, and finally stepping into the person you’re destined to be. Whether it launches EVERGREY’s boldest era yet, stands as a fierce standalone declaration, or serves as the pivotal bridge chapter that redefines their path, Architects Of A New Weave is pure cinematic motivation—ready to charge your playlist and propel your momentum forward. It’s as though EVERGREY don’t merely survive adversity—they rise and expand because of it. Every challenge, every setback, every wound seems to become the very oxygen that fuels their music. The darker the storm that once threatened to break them, the more powerfully each note draws breath from that same pain, transforming what hurt them yesterday into the soaring, living heart of their songs today. Architects Of A New Weave seals it: we are no longer victims of the night, but creators of new skies, new beliefs, and entirely new heavens. Grab it now. Let it arm you. This isn’t just an album – it’s the sound of you seizing control and building what’s next.

“It feels like the universe is throwing some heavy waves our way right now,” says singer Jared Watson. “A lot of people close to me, including myself, have been feeling it. But every time I connect with my friends, I’m reminded that no matter what we’re each carrying, there’s always room to support one another. ‘Seven Seas’ is about that bond — being there for your friends and family, through anything.”
Formed in 2000, DIRTY HEADS have built a dedicated global following by seamlessly fusing reggae, hip-hop, alternative rock, and pop. Their reach expanded significantly when the platinum-certified single “Vacation” found renewed popularity through viral culture, introducing the band to a new generation of listeners. The group later earned a No. 1 Alternative Radio hit with “Rescue Me,” further solidifying their place in the genre and scene.
With over 3 billion career streams worldwide and collaborations spanning artists such as Travis Barker, Nick Hexum, Matisyahu, Slash, and more, DIRTY HEADS continue to evolve — while staying true to the spirit that defines their music. “Seven Seas” signals the beginning of a new chapter, one rooted in connection, optimism, and forward momentum.
DELLACOMA Sunshine Coast Rockers New Single, Begin Again From The Album, Searching For You In The Darkness
The album has been described as their most ambitious and expansive work to date and debuted as the #2 Australian Album on the ARIA charts on release in November 2025..
Featuring the singles, Heroes, More Than Survival, and I Got You the album showcases the diverse range of this incredible band.
Now they have released the track Begin Again. Frontman Dellacoma Rio says “Begin Again” is a song about the shattering of illusion. When loss happens, especially for the first time, we often feel betrayed. That somehow it wasn’t meant to work out this way. That we were different or that we ‘followed the rules’ and still lost, that its not ‘fair’. This song explores the concept of what happens after the illusion has been shattered. The moment when we sit down and choose to rebuild, rebuild our way, honestly. To be, just you. To begin again, from where you are, no matter whats been before”

MELBOURNE-BASED BRAZILIAN ARTIST ALCIDES NETO SHARES SPECIAL NEW SINGLE “ARI, SÉRGIO, MELO, MARCO, MERDA”
BUY/STREAM HERE
AHEAD OF DEBUT ALBUM AMU
PRE-SAVE/PRE-ORDER HERE
OUT FRIDAY 27 FEBRUARY VIA MUSIC IN EXILE
Melbourne-based Jazz artist and composer Alcides Neto has revealed his latest gem “Ari, Sérgio, Melo, Marco, Merda”. The third track taken from his debut album, Amu, which is set for release on Friday 27 February via Music in Exile.
Arriving on his birthday, the single stands as Alcides’ most special and symbolic release to date, opening with a candid, serendipitous audio recording of his Grandma and Aunty chatting, grounding the track in intimacy before a playful, coruscating groove unfolds. Alcides soars effortlessly over a rich, vibrant production that gradually builds to a warm piano solo set against a partido alto groove.
Alcides says on the single: “It’s a little chronicle about me and the day I was born. I was born on Friday the 13th, and that day had 25 hours because daylight saving time ended. The song also talks about my grandma calling my uncles’ and cousins’ names first, then saying “damn it,” and finally getting to mine. It’s a story of small, fun, everyday moments from life.”
Alcides upcoming debut record, Amu explores a series of personal stories throughout Alcides life. Written in stages over several years, the album began to take shape during lockdown and culminated with the final piece in early 2023. Each track carries its own imprint, they are all anchored in a shared source of inspiration, his childhood in the countryside of São Paulo state, Brazil, whose landscapes, rhythms and memories quietly guided the music. Across eight carefully curated tracks, each song is designed to fit within the wider themes of Amu, intended to be listened to in full, with Alcides allowing the music to evolve naturally until reaching its final form. For Alcides, music is central to his identity, practicing allows him to stay connected to himself and as a migrant, to his community.
Today’s offering follows on from his last two singles “Amuleto” and “Canforá”, which has seen an array of love with rotation additions from both fbi radio and PBS FM with additional support from Triple R, SBS and ABC Radio Melbourne, while last month, the music video for “Amuleto” was featured in the premiere of the new Shortwave commission at the Sydney Opera House. More recently, he’s played shows at Cross Street Music Hall in Brunswick and just last weekend he performed a beautiful set at the National Multicultural Festival in Canberra. Alcides will next bring his luminous vocals and Brazilian rhythm Adelaide for WOMADelaide 2026 from 6–9 March.
Rooted in the rich folk traditions of his homeland, the composer and multi-instrumentalist Alcides Neto brings a fresh perspective to Brazilian music. Inspired by the legendary Airto Moreira, Alcides blends classic rhythms with contemporary Brazilian jazz, samba, bossa and more. Known for his percussive guitar work and warm, expressive vocals, every performance is infused with an unmistakably authentic Brazilian spirit.
An intimate snapshot of Alcides’ world, “Ari, Sérgio, Melo, Marco, Merda” is out now.

KIM SALMON AND SMOKED SALMON ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE “FREUDIAN SLIPPERS”,
TAKEN FROM FORTHCOMING NEW ALBUM TOTALLY SICK.
MARCH 5 SINGLE RELEASE WILL CONICIDE WITH A KIM SALMON SOLO MINI-TOUR TAKING IN PERTH, MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY.
NEW SINGLE AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER NOW
Smoked Salmon, featuring Art School dropout, seminal punk rocker, and Scientists, Surrealists and Beasts of Bourbon living legend Kim Salmon, have announced the forthcoming release of a new 7″ single, taken from a new album entitled Totally Sick, which will be released mid-year.
The new single is “Freudian Slippers” and the B-side is “Seein’ Spots”, which won’t be on the album. It will be available on limited edition translucent purple 7″ vinyl (100 only), black 7″ vinyl and digitally.
Release date is 5 March 2026, with pre-orders available as of NOW from
https://kimsalmon.bandcamp.com/album/freudian-slippers
The new single is the first Smoked Salmon material to feature new drummer Michael Stranges, who previously worked with Kim in Precious Jules. Claire Birchall on guitar and keyboards and Jeff Hooker on bass complete the line-up. The two sides of the new single are both Salmon/Stranges co-writes
The single will coincide with a Kim Salmon solo mini-tour taking in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney:
KIM SALMON SOLO MINI TOUR
March 7 Perth – Lyric’s Underground (matinee) – TIX
March 14 Melbourne – Cactus Room (with support from Harpo Wah) – TIX
March 15 Sydney – Lazy Thinking Records (3-5 pm with support from Richie Weed) – TIX
Kim says of the new single, “Freudian Slippers, like all of the songs from the upcoming Totally Sick album from Smoked Salmon is another of those songs that got lost on the way ‘upstream’! It first appeared on the 2014 release from Kim and Leanne, True West. Kim and Leanne was conceived by Kim with Michael Stranges as a project to feature Leanne Cowie the Scientists drummer alongside Kim.
“Kim and Michael had been working under the guise of Precious Jules and this is essentially a PJs (as they liked to call themselves) production.
“Michael had the riff and Kim spontaneously sang ‘went to see my shrink and she said what do you think’ as a melody place holder over it. He joked that that it was a Freudian slip to sing such a line and Stranges, in true Stranges form, touchéd with the phrase ‘Freudian slippers’, and voilà! They went to work, nèe play, on it. K&L’s rendering tends toward the heavy Led Zep side of things whereas Smoked Salmon bring out some of the Prince style pop funk that was always hidden in the song.
“Speaking of hidden, the B-side ‘Seein’ Spots’ is another Precious Jules’ hidden gem dug up and polished by Smoked Salmon.”
SMOKED SALMON… The name Smoked Salmon was begging to be used! Kim Salmon had been ignoring it for decades but finally gave in after being called on for a benefit for the Firefighters at the start of 2020. Smoked Salmon came to be the players stationed over in the west, in France, up in NSW and handy in his hometown Melbourne whenever he needed a band. And who doesn’t need a band? He could play shows most anywhere! He could even take an ensemble into a studio under the banner of Smoked Salmon – which he eventually did.
Smoked Salmon is a concept, a collection of recordings, a collective, a philosophy of least resistance flowing from a reputation for resolutely going against the stream! Wait a minute! Least resistance? Against the stream? Here’s the clincher. You can do both! Kim still has the desire to go upstream but has found a great source of new repertoire fishing in the streams from whence such classics as “Frantic Romantic”, “Last Night”, “Dropout”, “Come On Spring” and “Swampland” sprang!
KIM SALMON… Art School dropout, seminal punk rocker, and living legend. Born into the isolation of the semi-industrial wastelands of 1950s outer suburban Perth, Kim Salmon clawed his way out of the swamp and onto the world stage in his bands, the Scientists, the Surrealists, and the Beasts of Bourbon.
Conjuring the nascent snarls of antipodean punk rock in the late 1970’s, Salmon formed the Cheap Nasties at the very crest of the wave, simultaneously making seminal punk music in far flung Perth as the Saints were in Brisbane, Radio Birdman in Sydney and Nick Cave with the Boys Next Door in Melbourne. When the Cheap Nasties split asunder, Kim formed the Scientists, adding explosive pop to the punk raunch.
As the 80’s dawned, Salmon rematerialized in Sydney with a new line-up of the Scientists, and a new sound was born. Dark, primitive, swampy, demented – this was punk, rock n roll, psychobilly and blues all at once – but it was something new too. In the early 90’s Seattle based Grunge would sell millions of records worldwide. In Australia, over a decade earlier, Grunge was simply the noise of the Scientists.
Often referred to as “The Godfather of Grunge” he is cited as a seminal influence on countless bands including Mudhoney, Nirvana, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The White Stripes, Sonic Youth, The Drones and Spacemen 3. Internationally acclaimed, Kim Salmon has played with the likes The Stooges, Television, Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds, The Cramps, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, The Pop Group and even U2.
Kim Salmon has earned his reputation as an authentic artist incapable of choosing the safe road. For nearly fifty years, he has performed on the world’s biggest stages and with the most remote punk bands; traversing every corner of music and art to create a body of work that stands up with the best.
Kim Salmon is not slowing down. In recent years he has reignited the legendary Scientists, releasing singles, an EP and full-length album with the classic mark 2 line up – touring nationally as well as America and Europe.
The Beasts (nee Beasts of Bourbon) have completed barnstorming national tours and released a new album.
With the Surrealists, Kim composed, performed and recorded a double album live on camera during the height of the pandemic.
Celebrating his fallen comrades, Kim has written and performed his Haunted Grooves show combining storytelling, songs and pictures – capturing the emotional tales and performances in a soon to be released double LP.
With his latest band, Smoked Salmon, he has toured Europe and Japan – combining classic moments from across his career with a soon-to-be-released album of brand-new original songs.
Despite being the original art school dropout, Kim has turned his younger predilection for drawing into a burgeoning visual art career, with several solo and joint exhibitions and a successful artist in residence sojourn in WA.

FELSMANN + TILEY SHARE THEIR NEW ALBUM ‘PROTOMENSCH’
Electronic duo Felsmann + Tiley release their new project ‘Protomensch’ via ORiGiN Music.
As the duo unveil their highly anticipated second album, the record marks a major step forward for the pair, refining their signature blend of emotionally charged electronic music and vocal-led songwriting. Built around a core of synthwave, trance, and introspective yet cataclysmic impending doom for mankind, ‘Protomensch’ balances club-focused intensity with melodic sensitivity. Channeled through pulsing rhythms, expansive synth textures, and detailed sound design that form the foundation of the album, the carefully chosen vocal performances bring warmth, tension, and narrative depth to the music.
Sonically, ‘Protomensch’ draws influence from film scores and neoclassical composition, alongside the wide spectrum of electronic dance music. These elements give the body of work a cinematic quality, where tracks unfold with a strong sense of progression, atmosphere, and emotional arc rather than relying solely on traditional club structures. Moreover, alongside the music, ‘Protomensch’ is underpinned by a broader conceptual framework, with the project exploring humanity’s paradoxical nature, an idiotic genius caught between innovation and destruction, empathy and violence, love and absurdity. This core idea guided the duo long before a single note was written, lingering as a quiet but insistent thread throughout the entire creative process.
Featuring a strong lineup of vocal collaborators, ‘Protomensch’ includes London-based alternative outfit Pet Deaths and Australian artists The Kite String Tangle, Woodes, and Laius. Each brings a distinct voice and emotional register, helping shape the album’s dynamic range, from introspective and restrained moments to more euphoric, driving tracks. Talking on the collaborative process, the duo explain:
“We were first drawn to their voices, each collaborator has a tone and delivery that immediately stands out. They instinctively understood what we were trying to do, which meant we could focus on creating rather than over-explaining the process.”
First conceived in 2017, ‘Protomensch’ represents the most complete realisation of Felsmann + Tiley’s musical direction to date. It captures the duo at a point of clarity, distilling years of experimentation into a cohesive, confident body of work. What’s more, their work has previously been supported by influential tastemakers including the late Andrew Weatherall, who featured the duo on his NTS show, and esteemed supervisor, Michael Gaubert, who included their music in a set for Acne Studios. Moreover, their reinterpretations have had lucrative and exciting sync placements also, with ‘Solitude’ being placed on the trailer for Top Boy Season 3, their version of The Irrepressibles’ ‘Most Beautiful Boy’ becoming the sound of S2 of Netflix Young Royals and strongly streaming after that, whilst the ‘Ry X’ reinterpretation was placed with Cerruti 1881 Vivo Fragrance campaign.
With ‘Protomensch’, Felsmann + Tiley deliver an album that is immersive, emotionally resonant, and grounded in strong musical identity, positioning them as one of Europe’s most conscious and compelling contemporary electronic acts.

NAT PAVLOVIC ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM, BIG HEART OUT APRIL 17 VIA HER OWN LABEL BLOSSOM ROT RECORDS + SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘LUCKY’, AN UPLIFTING ODE TO FRIENDSHIP
Beloved Naarm musician and label head, Nat Pavlovic announces new album, Big Heart out April 17 on her own label, Blossom Rot Records and shares new single, ‘Lucky’ – an uplifting ode to friendships between women and the power of platonic love. The song was premiered by Triple R’s Breakfasters this week.
‘Lucky‘, balances grit and space in a sound that feels both nostalgic and urgent, driven by rumbling guitar and crystalline vocals. Built around a heartfelt chorus, with Nat singing ‘You’re the best, you’re the best,’ the track captures the intimacy and joy of a deep friendship. Nat shares, “I am so lucky to have lots of people I call my best friends, and Emma Russack is one of them — she is the best. Making best friends later in life is cool and special.”
New album, Big Heart is an introspective exploration of love in all its forms: for friends, for family, for lovers, for self. Featuring Jen Sholakis (Jen Cloher, EBAGC) on drums, Anika Ostendorf (Hachiku) on bass and Snowy on guitar, Nat has crafted a family band of all-stars who contributed to the recording process and will form her live band, with the addition of Ellie Ware on guitar. All songs are mixed by Snowy and mastered by Nao Anzai (The Belair Lipbombs, The Teskey Brothers), with additional vocals by Emma Russack and Ada Duffy and strings by Chloe Sanger.
‘Lucky‘ follows on from last year’s single, ‘Promise To Try’, the first taste of new music since the 2021 surprise-drop of her debut solo record, You Can’t Take It When You’re Gone. With an expanded sonic palette, layering shimmering synth and propulsive drum machines, Nat’s distorted and enticing vocal flows like a diary entry, evoking a sense of living-room intimacy and tender connection, balancing grit and texture with spacious washes of sound.
After growing up in the hills of Perth, surrounded by bush, birds and bugs, at 18, Nat moved to the big smoke, immersing herself in the Perth music scene. “Slowly fighting my way in with my band, Dianas. There weren’t many girl bands in Perth back then, I could count them on one hand. But there was a community there, and we were part of it.”
In 2015, Nat moved to Naarm to study sound and was inspired to launch her own indie record label, Blossom Rot Records, alongside co-founder Sophie McComish (Body Type). The label has become home to artists such as Loose Tooth, Cool Sounds, The Vovos, Bad Bangs and Snowy Band. Nat is also an international touring musician for artists such as Jen Cloher, RVG, and Hachiku, a manager at Naarm’s Bakehouse Studios, and a founding member of Dianas.

AMÉLIE FARREN Announces Airheaded Launch Shows
Brisbane, Melbourne & Sydney This April
Brisbane singer-songwriter and alt-folk/alt-pop artist Amélie Farren is set to bring her signature introspective lyrics, energetic hooks and uplifting melodies to stages across Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney this April, launching her debut album Airheaded (released October 2025) to Australian audiences. Tickets are on sale now.
2025 was a huge year for Amélie. She supported Amy Shark on her Solo Acoustic “Songs & Stories” Tour throughout January and March, as well as Rag’n’Bone Man on his Australian tour in March, before heading overseas to headline shows across the UK and Europe, including The Great Escape and Oberkampf, and deliver two standout showcases at BIGSOUND 2025. Scenestr praised her BIGSOUND performance, stating: “Amélie Farren cast an enchanting spell over the crowd with her poetic indie folk. Armed with just a guitar, the singer – who debuted at only 14 and quickly gained worldwide recognition for her stunning, metaphorical songs – proved once again why she is one to watch.”
The Airheaded Australian launch shows follow Amélie’s upcoming headline dates in London and Paris, as well as her role supporting GRAMMY Award–winning artist CAM on an extensive UK and European tour.
On her debut album Airheaded, Amélie showcases her innate sense of storytelling, tone and lyrical depth. Her poetic lyrics weave intricate wordplay and vivid metaphors, delving into deep, and at times sombre, emotional terrain. Airheaded captures Amélie deep in thought and feeling, each track forming an evocative narrative of experiences, dreams and ideas that feel reflective, relatable and nostalgic. “It’s an accumulation of memories, experiences and conversations, fragments of night terrors,” says Amelie. “… it all got wrapped up together in my head and now it’s an album!” With songwriting solely credited to Amèlie, Airheaded was recorded and produced by Michael Keenan (G-Eazy & Bebe Rexia, Melanie Martinez) at his home studio in LA.
Amélie’s most recent focus single, ‘Ocean Sounds’, opens the album and subtly foreshadows the songs that follow, with lyrical nods threaded throughout the record. The track was added to triple j and triple j Unearthed, with Unearthed naming Amélie their Feature Artist in December last year. Praise poured in, including from triple j Music Director Claire Mooney, who described the song as “a siren spell from Amelie Farren – divine!”, while Sarah Davenport added: “This is just divine from Amelie Farren – I yearn for the world-building within this track.”
Written around complicated and often unhealthy relationship dynamics, Airheaded explores the different ways people cope and unravel. Tracks such as ‘pickuppickuppickuppickup’ (written from a stalker’s perspective) and ‘TREAT YOU LIKE A DOG’ (from the viewpoint of being stalked) examine obsession from opposing angles, while ‘shiverrr’, ‘Jump The Gun’ and ‘CLEMENTINE’ further expand on themes of fixation and emotional intensity.
Beginning her musical journey at just eight years old, Amélie joined the Sydney Children’s Choir and began writing her own songs by age 12. In late 2022, she started posting minimalistic performance clips online – recognisable by the two blue dots beneath her eyes – quickly building a global community drawn to her vulnerability and craft. Her debut release ‘suffering’ (2022) has since amassed over 15 million streams, but it was ‘Unsweetened Lemonade’ (2024) that ignited her global breakthrough, quietly racking up more than 60 million streams and transforming listeners across the US, UK, Europe, Australia, Asia and South America into a deeply engaged fanbase.
Don’t miss the chance to step into Amélie Farren’s world for an intimate, spellbinding live experience where quiet magic is guaranteed to linger long after the final note fades.

THE SOOKS REVEAL PENSIVE EP ‘WASTING ALL MY TIME’
Following on from their critically praised single ‘Take It Slow’, emerging Eora/Sydney-based indie outfit The Sooks have just revealed their introspective EP ‘Wasting All My Time’ – produced by Jack Nigro (The Terrys, Pacific Avenue, Mid Drift).
‘Wasting All My Time’ is a reflective six-track collection led by frontman Corey Fitzsimons, who narrates stories of ambition, uncertainty, self-doubt, and ultimately personal growth. Featuring singles ‘Take It Slow’, ‘Kickstarter’ and ‘Sober (For The Second Time)’, the EP builds sombre contemplations into uplifting sing-alongs, shown through the dynamically deft ‘Seperate Ways’, and the sun-soaked leads of cathartic closer ‘Quit Holding Me Down’.
Corey shares about the EP:
“It’s a real coming of age project – and delves into relationships, being young, dumb and broke, and trying to make it all work out in spite of that. It’s a homage to the experiences we’ve shared and touches on the highs and lows we’ve had together as a band and as individuals. As a whole, it emphasises not letting life dim your shine and doing what you feel you’re meant to do, despite the roadblocks life puts in your way. Make the most of the moments you find yourselves in, and don’t let people, thoughts or states of mind ‘waste your time’ because there’s really no time like the present.”
Following a whirlwind year that saw the band graduate from Western Sydney garages to festival stages and sold-out headline rooms, the EP marks a definitive evolution in the group’s sound. ‘Wasting All My Time’ builds on the sun-drenched foundations of their 2024 debut EP ‘Oyster Boy’, trading raw teenage energy for a more refined, introspective brand of indie-rock.
To launch the EP, The Sooks will headline Eora/Sydney’s Waywards in Newtown on Saturday, March 14. They’ll also be hitting the road for a string of support shows with luminaries The Terrys, Playlunch and CURRENTS. This continues on from supporting the likes of Daily J, Le Shiv, Salarymen, Press Club, Surely Shirley, Bread Club and GRXCE, while also appearing at The Great Escape (TAS), The Big Chill and Good Gumnuts festivals.
At their core, The Sooks are a band built on friendship – something that shines through both their music and their story. “As corny as it might sound, I fell in love with music after seeing One Direction when I was 8 or 9,” explains Corey. “After meeting Jeremy (bassist) in school, we got really into Australian indie music, leading us to buy guitars and teach ourselves to play. Then, after roping in my brother Keenan (guitarist), primary school mate Jeremy (guitarist) and local legend Flynn (drums), it was game on.”

Progressive Death Metallers GROWTH Release New Track, Forward, Further, Spirit Killer
New Album, Under the Under, out March 27 via Wild Thing Records
Below rock bottom under the weight of truth.
Yet in facing truth there is a spark that reveals there’s more to you than your darkest place…
Last month, Melbourne progressive-death outfit Growth emerged with their first new music in over half a decade with the blistering, Remember Me As Fire, the first new music from the long-awaited second chapter of their planned trilogy, Under The Under due for release on March 27 via Wild Thing Records.
Today they release the electrifying second single, Forward, Further, Spirit Killer. A powerful meditation on liberation, the track urges you to break free from the stories that bind you and destroy the spirit killer that defines your past. With soaring intensity and bold emotion, Growth invites listeners into a fearless, forward-reaching vision of raw human transformation.
Lead Vocalist: LF, comments, “If you want to be able to live freely, you have to kill the idea that you are made entirely of stories. Your experiences have shaped your life up until this point. But there are things you like to see in the world, in others, in dreams, that have nothing to do with those experiences. There’s also a part of yourself that you see as strong. It may not be one you apply to yourself, but it’s there, and you can only see it once you take down the idea that you are defined by the past. It’s a zero-sum game, but it’s entirely in your favour. “

**********
Growth began in 2017 as a reflective space for brothers Tristan Barnes (guitar/bass/artwork) and Nelson Barnes (drums), and vocalist LF, later joined by Nick Rackham (bass) and Ben Boyle (guitar), to explore trauma, mental illness and grief without romanticising them. The project was never intended as catharsis for its own sake, but as a way to illustrate recovery in all its brutality. not as linear progress, but as something fractured, cyclical and deeply human.
The gap between releases has been deliberate….and necessary. Where The Smothering Arms of Mercy was written from within collapse, sickness and isolation, Under the Under exists in the far more uncomfortable space that follows: what happens when survival is no longer the question and you’re forced to confront who you are once the wreckage settles. In the bands own words, healing, is not gentle. It is an ugly process. Chaotic, disorienting and often more confronting than the pain that preceded it.
Under the Under, is an album that documents six stages of recovery – not as levels to be celebrated, but as thresholds to be endured. Across the record, Growth interrogates the dignity we attach to suffering, the comfort of identifying solely with trauma and the terrifying possibility that we might be more than the stories that have kept us alive.
Growth does not offer solutions but instead offer honesty and an invitation to sit with the questions most of us spend our lives avoiding.
Under the Under is set for release on March 27 via Wild Thing Records

DENZEL CURRY AND THE SCYTHE SHARE NEW SINGLLISTEN & WATCH THE NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR ‘THE SCYTHE’ W/ TIACORINE & FERG – OUT NOW. STRICTLY 4 THE SCYTHE DUE MARCH 6TH VIA LOMA VISTA RECORDINGS
Single out now via Loma Vista Recordings
After returning to officially announce The Scythe and its core members Bktherula, TiaCorine, Ferg and Key Nyata alongside Denzel Curry, the group shares a new single and video ‘The Scythe‘ from their forthcoming full-length project Strictly 4 The Scythe, out March 6th via Loma Vista Recordings. The new posse cut and title track finds the collective joining in on the hook’s infectious chant mixed between scratched production and sharp verses from Tia and Ferg, closely following last month’s BNYX-produced ‘Lit Effect‘ featuring Bktherula and LAZER DIM 700.
Speaking on the song’s inception, Ferg shares “I was on one when we created this song, it was the night of my first art show… Taking the energy from the success of my show back to the booth where there was more energy with The Scythe created not only a monster of an anthem, but a moment in history!”
On the group’s creative approach and her individual contributions, Tia says “Denzel really showed me the power of production and trust.. My verse was for a wholeeee different beat and Denzel is like you gotta start doing bigger sounds, trust me. So that’s what I did and that’s how we got “The Scythe.”
The Scythe draws on the banded collective spirit of Denzel’s foundational days while continuing his futuristic takes on old-school regional rap (Memphis, Houston, Miami). Combining Denzel’s unique style with classically gritty Southern sounds and the creative force of each artist, the project centers hip-hop’s core across eras, paying homage to the South’s great musical legacy while ushering in a rising new guard.
Speaking on the dynamic, Curry says, “The Scythe is a family and a group. We still have our respective solo careers, but when we come together, it’s The Scythe.”
Strictly 4 The Scythe marks the first full project from the rapper since 2024’s album version of King Of The Mischievous South, the official mixtape and sound that helped launch his career, revisited in final form with a reconfigured tracklist and 5 new songs including ‘STILL IN THE PAINT‘, featuring Bktherula and LAZER DIM 700, ‘HOT ONE‘ featuring Ferg and TiaCorine, ‘ULTRA SHXT‘ featuring Key Nyata and standout solo cut ‘GOT ME GEEKED‘. Beyond launching a new rap super group in The Scythe, Denzel’s year is off to a momentous start, appearing as a special guest at Fred Again’s NYC shows, supporting Deftones on their current EU/UK tour, featuring on the recently-released Knocked Loose single ‘Hive Mind‘ and appearing on Maxo Kream’s newest track ‘Fake Jeezy‘ with JPEGMAFIA.

SUGARBAG BLONDE ‘DON’T BLAME IT ON ME’(SINGLE)
Don’t Blame It On Me is a deep-groove, swaggering blues-rock track built on feel, tone and restraint. The song explores betrayal, accountability and the weight of misplaced blame — a slow-burn that leans into classic blues-rock traditions while sounding modern, confident and authentic.
This track is aimed at listeners who value musicianship, groove and emotional honesty over trends. It sits comfortably alongside modern blues-rock and classic-leaning rock programming, making it a natural fit for blues, rock and roots-focused radio shows and playlists.
ABOUT SUGARBAG BLONDE Sugarbag Blonde are a Sunshine Coast blues-rock band delivering classic swagger, soulful grit and guitar-driven originals. Drawing from contemporaries including Gov’t Mule, Doyle Bramhall II and Gary Clark Jr., alongside forebears Cream, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, their sound fuses road-worn blues with modern rock power.
Built on feel, restraint and tone rather than flash, Sugarbag Blonde bring raw energy and lived-in storytelling to every performance. Festival favourites, they have appeared at Byron Bay Bluesfest, Caloundra Music Festival, Sunshine Sounds Festival, Maroochy Foreshore Festival and Agnes Blues, Roots & Rock Festival, and have become a sought-after support act across Australia, sharing stages with Thirsty Merc, Russell Morris, Kevin Borich and celebrated blues-rock organist Lachy Doley.
With a distinctive blend of groove-driven originals and finely crafted songs, Sugarbag Blonde continue carving out their place in Australian rock and blues-rock circles — grounded in authenticity, driven by feel, and unapologetically guitar-led.

ADELAIDE’S DESTINEZIA RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE ‘CROOKED TEETH.’
Making their debut in 2023, Adelaide indie rock group DESTINEZIA have not wasted time in becoming one of the city’s exciting fresh voices on the scene.
Their music, encompassing a passion for anthemic arrangements and keeping the energy high at all times, has captured the attention and praise of their community and broader industry alike. And now to kick off 2026, DESTINEZIA are back with a new single for everyone to sink into: ‘crooked teeth.’
The new drop from the band arrives as their first release of the year, and the first piece of new music since releasing their debut EP – DO THEY KNOW? – in 2025. The song, as DESTINEZIA describes, is a result of them wanting to “lean into a more vulnerable side of ourselves”. From the ground up, ‘crooked teeth.’
“It marked a shift in our sound, but more importantly, it was about creating something that felt completely honest and true to where we were as a band. Rather than chasing a polished or perfected version of the song, we focused on capturing the emotion and imperfections that gave it its meaning.
By allowing the song to take its time, we were able to reflect the way it actually lived and breathed with us, rather than forcing it into a fixed structure too early. The result is something raw, transparent, and unfiltered, a song that doesn’t hide its edges, but embraces them. ‘crooked teeth.’ represents a moment of honesty for us, both sonically and emotionally, and sets the tone for where we’re heading next.” DESTINEZIA
To celebrate the release of ‘crooked teeth.’, DESTINEZIA will be performing an exclusive run of shows alongside TOWNHOUSE through February and March. Of their upcoming shows the band says, “The tour marks a big moment for Destinezia, which is the first time the band has hit the road on a run of this scale, and feels like a natural step forward into a new chapter. Sonically, it sees Destinezia sharpen the edges of their sound while holding onto the dreamy, nostalgic feel that’s always been at the centre of the band. The tour is a chance to bring that openness to the stage, play new material live, and let the songs exist in their most raw and vulnerable form.”

SELIAS Explores Human Cruelty to Animals in New Single “Abducted”
Toronto’s melodic death-metal force SELIAS has released the official video for “Abducted”, a track from their latest album Killkarma, out now via Wormholedeath Records.
This release carries a deeply personal message for frontman Guilliaume Pascal (G), a committed vegan whose lyrics aim to highlight the cruelty of industrial farming. “Abducted” flips the script with a brutal role reversal — humankind becomes the caged, the tortured, the slaughtered. What emerges is empathy weaponized, sharpened into an uncompromising metal blade.

CHLOE GILL ADDS ANTHEMIC ENERGY TO 2026 WITH ‘PUSHING PUNISHMENT’ SINGLE & VIDEO
DEBUT ALBUM ‘ I HAVE A HABIT OF DREAMING’ OUT MARCH 12
TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED ACROSS APRIL – JUNE
With new single ‘Pushing Punishment’, Newcastle’s CHLOE GILL takes another excellent stride into a brand new year.
Following on from the track ‘Down The Drain’, released in January, the latest offering from Gill is a powerful anthem that serves as a reminder of her unshakeable talent as both songwriter and vocalist. ‘Pushing Punishment’ was created with collaborator Gareth Hudson (Buddy Knox, Hazy Cosmic Jive Studios) and as Gill explains, was a process that came together quite quickly once the foundation was set.
“This song feels like me becoming me. Growing into my adult self, growing into my personality, being kind to myself and others, listening to my own heart and my own needs, accepting my neurodivergence and my personality and learning about how to pave my own life for how I want to live it and achieve my dreams. Learning to “fill my cup” first or to “put my own oxygen mask on first”. I can’t show up for anyone else until I’ve shown up for me first.” CHLOE GILL
Gill found inspiration for this track in the DNA of music by artists including Bon Iver, Sharon Van Etten and Gang Of Youths; all artists who lead with strong emotional intelligence.
These are influences that have aligned perfectly with the artist’s own signature style, with Gill wearing her lived experiences and emotions on her sleeve as a songwriter and performer.
“Go Farther In Lightness by Gang Of Youths, this album has shaped so many years of my life, so many memories attached to the tracks in this album, especially lyrically. It’s so easy to come back to, the production is timeless, the strings are so uplifting and make me feel so emotional. I wanted this track to build dynamically and through instrumentation and achieve what that album makes me feel.”
“This song is how I can best share what it feels like to live inside my head. I wanted to capture the tension and release that plays in my body and my mind. It can get really loud but it can also be kind and quiet. The drums in the end and the string cadence, to me, recreate a period in my life where I just kept going around in circles with myself but then finally stopped because it wasn’t serving me. I didn’t want to live like that anymore.
The choruses feel to me, really uplifting and strong, how I wanted to feel and knew I could feel.”
Alongside the release of ‘Pushing Punishment’, Gill also shares the official music video, an emotive visual that extends the themes of the track and serves as a natural companion piece.
“I wanted the music video to replicate the pace of the track but in a simplified way because there is so much going on in the track, it’s a slow build through the whole song.”
‘Pushing Punishment’ will feature on Chloe Gill’s forthcoming debut album, I Have A Habit of Dreaming, due for release on March 12th. Following on from ‘Down The Drain’ and 2025 singles ‘Why?’, ‘Something In The Winter’ and ‘Over Me’, this latest release from Gill shows the dynamism and intimacy threaded through her work.
As a live performer, Chloe Gill’s platform has continued to grow, having shared stages with the likes of Sam Fischer, Kate Ceberano, Chris Lanzon, Tori Forsyth and more; all the while continuing to pave her own way as a powerhouse headline performer.
To celebrate the release of her new music, Chloe Gill will be on tour in both duo and full band mode across New South Wales, Victoria and in South Australia from April through into June – dates below!

SHOREHAVEN Deliver Pop-Punk Sparks and Tongue-In-Cheek Drama on ‘Oh, Baby!’
Single & Music Video Out Thursday, February 19
Can work and pleasure coexist? ‘Oh, Baby!’ traces the tension between two artists whose relationship is strained in a creative partnership, seeing cracks emerge when love and professionalism collide. Shorehaven shares the explosive single, complete with a vibrant music video.
Shorehaven are a Boorloo/Perth-based female-fronted indie pop-punk band, fusing the warmth of Australian indie rock with the punch and nostalgia of early 2000s pop punk. With a sound that captures youthful nostalgia while remaining modern and exciting, they’ve shared stages with Teenage Joans (Creamfest), Sly Withers (Leavers), Rum Jungle, Pacific Avenue (Pollen Fest), Dear Sunday, Drax Project, and more, earning a reputation for high-energy, fun live shows.
A song born out of a frustrating rehearsal, ‘Oh, Baby!’ marks a subtle shift in Shorehaven’s sonic direction. Produced by Matthew Templeman, it moves away from their earlier indie-rock leanings and embraces a more direct pop-punk palette, built on thick and juicy guitar tones, a tight rhythm section, and wry, tongue-in-cheek lyricism. The result is an upbeat, anthemic offering that feels immediate and assured, without losing the band’s melodic core. Hannah Gill (vocalist) explains:
“We really focused on not taking ourselves too seriously with this song, really leaning into the cliches [of pop rock and emo] and allowing the vision to develop with Matt’s guidance”.
The release is accompanied by a colourful music video filmed over three consecutive days, featuring a lively cast of extras. Scenes move between a backyard wedding and a punk-rock performance, with a visual nod to Queen’s ‘I Want to Break Free’. The band describes the shoot as one of the most memorable experiences to date.
Shorehaven bring punchy electric guitars, unapologetic vocals and a classic indie rock edge to their new single and music video ‘Oh, Baby!’, out now.

Liliana de la Rosa Unveils Cinematic Dark Alt-Pop Debut Haunted by Roses
Sydney-based dark alternative pop artist Liliana de la Rosa is set to make a striking debut with her first single, Haunted by Roses. A hypnotic and emotionally charged track, Haunted by Roses explores the fallout of an obsessive relationship with cinematic intensity and intimate storytelling. The song melds moody atmospheres with a slow-burn intensity, creating a seductive yet melancholic energy that resonates across dark pop, alternative pop, cinematic pop, and mood-driven playlists. Designed for late-night listening, its haunting vocals and immersive production mark the arrival of a bold new voice in the Australian music scene.
Haunted by Roses introduces Liliana’s femme fatale world, where beauty, fantasy, and danger intertwine. With a background as a professional actress in film and theatre, Liliana brings a unique visual and emotional depth to her music, creating a fully immersive experience that feels both personal and transportive.
Liliana’s cinematic instincts are rooted in her professional acting career. She played the lead role of Jennifer Keane in the Australian horror feature film After She Died (2022), currently streaming on Amazon Prime and other VOD platforms, and starred in the Australian short Dreamlink, which was nominated for a 2025 AACTA Award for Best Short Film. She also studied acting in Los Angeles, further honing her craft. These experiences inform her music, giving her visuals and storytelling a strikingly immersive quality. Her work has also earned festival accolades, including Best Australian Feature Film for After She Died at the ANOH Film Festival (2022).
“Haunted by Roses is a lament and love letter to the dreamlike descent from a once loving romance turned toxic whirlwind. It’s about no longer recognising the person you loved once the rose coloured glasses come off,” Liliana explains.
She continues, “I wanted the track to feel cinematic and intimate, something that drifts under your skin late at night and makes you confront the parts of yourself you try to ignore. It’s a reflection of desire, power, and the complexities of love, and I hope listeners feel both haunted and entranced when they hear it.”
The single is accompanied by a striking music video, conceived by Liliana herself. “The concept for the music video, like most things, came to me in a weird hazy daydream at the end of 2024 whilst in LA. I had been playing with grand cinematic sounds and started writing the song in November of that year, and I actually created almost the entire concept for the music video inside my head shot list, motifs, colours before I’d even finished writing the lyrics,” she says.
“I had been daydreaming about lotus flowers, which in Greek mythology is a narcotic fruit that causes blissful apathy and an almost trance-like state in people that eat it. This inspired the whole trance part of the song, which led me down the path of exploring an intoxicating ballroom dance, and to me it was the perfect symmetry to being stuck in the trance of a person. Visually, I was also inspired by the thriller film Eyes Wide Shut by Stanley Kubrick and the colour red, and of course, a lot of roses.”
Liliana de la Rosa draws comparisons to Lana Del Rey, BANKS, and Ethel Cain, crafting music that navigates desire, transformation, and power with ethereal atmospheres and haunting vocals. Haunted by Roses is just the beginning of her journey, introducing a dark alt-pop world where storytelling, emotion, and cinematic soundscapes collide.
Julia Cumming Announces Debut Solo Record, Julia
Sunflower Bean Frontwoman Signs to Partisan Records; Reveals Details Of Solo Album
Out April 24th
Single out now via Partisan Records
Listen Now
Pre-Save Album
An integral part of the NYC music scene since forming acclaimed rock band Sunflower Bean as a teenager, Julia Cumming is set to release her impressive debut album, Julia, on April 24th via Partisan Records, a move that sees her joining a dynamic stable of artists that includes Geese, Cameron Winter, PJ Harvey, IDLES and Blondshell. Lauded over the past several years as one of the most captivating frontwomen in rock – “a genre shapeshifter with her soft yet tough-as-nails voice,” as one music critic once put it – Julia marks a brand new chapter for Cumming, a clear and unadorned declaration of stepping out on her own. Not a rebrand, but a full creative rebirth.
After a transformative three year journey of self-actualisation and dream fulfillment, Cumming is ready to unveil the fruits of her labor. Today’s album news comes replete with a gorgeous debut single. ‘My Life’ packs a punch in a warm embrace. Within seconds, she sings her agency into being, fingers meeting the piano keys, striking just the sparest of chords: “I sing these words for me/ To hear the sound/ To let them ring/ To drown you out.” In embarking on her solo journey, this thesis statement of a song was the key that unlocked a creative door that Cumming had been waiting for.
The accompanying video, filmed in London this winter, was directed by celebrated English filmmaker – and renowned music connoisseur – Edgar Wright (The Running Man, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Baby Driver).
Of ‘My Life’ Cumming shares, “This song came after a period of intense pressure, the culmination of writing through the pandemic and the years spent in the rhythm of touring, recording, and trying to find my place within it all…Then something shifted. It was liberation, and I knew immediately it was the beginning of something new. It’s clear “My Life” would open the album, because it’s the thesis. The seed that started everything.”
The album was completed over a six week period in Los Angeles with her collaborator Brian Robert Jones (Paramore, Vampire Weekend) and producer and engineer Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV On The Radio, Grizzly Bear, Beach House), and a studio band that included Garrett Ray (Olivia Rodrigo, SIA) on drums, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (Beck) on keys and Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) contributed guitar to two tracks. Through the process Julia learned to lean into her most formative influences, Burt Bacharach, Carol King, Neil Diamond, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon and her “one-and-only-and-always” Brian Wilson.
About the album, Cumming notes, “I think we all try to play into the roles that other people put on us, or that we put on ourselves, in the hopes of being accepted. To use this music as a way out of those external narratives is my dream. One of my main goals with this record was for it to sound fun, not morose. It’s the ultimate anti-cool album. It’s a joyous space for the misfits, and in particular, an album for girls like me, the ones in middle school who never fit into a neat little box. I want this record to be a place where those girls can find solace. You don’t have to be who anyone wants you to be to be enough.”
Julia is a self-assured debut shaped by agency, artistic freedom, and the quiet courage of choosing oneself. Grounded in classic American songwriting and emotional clarity, the album traces Cumming’s path toward self-acceptance, moving through memory (‘Please Let Me Remember This’ with its plea to hold on to fleeting joy), love and loss (‘Fucking Closure’ where tenderness and melancholy coexist), and personal liberation on the opening thesis statement ‘My Life’ which rejects outside judgment entirely. Across its songs, Julia finds freedom not through reinvention, but through release and letting go of expectation, perception, and the pressure to be enough for anyone but herself, embracing joy, vulnerability, and autonomy on her own terms.

POISON THE WELL SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE EVERYTHING HURTS
NEW ALBUM PEACE IN PLACE — FIRST NEW ALBUM IN OVER 15 YEARS
ALBUM ARRIVES ON MARCH 20 VIA SHARPTONE
TOURING AUSTRALIA THIS JUNE
Poison The Well will release Peace In Place, their first album in 16 years, on March 20 via SharpTone Records. Pre-order it here.
Today, they share the video for new single Everything Hurts.
The song hones in on PTW’s patented and signature quiet/loud dynamics, and it’s a perfectly executed mix of moody and metallic. In the video, we follow singer Jeffrey Moreira in an almost voyeuristic way. The tension in both the song and the accompanying visual builds steadily. Tune in to see where they start and where they end, and pay attention to some easter eggs along the way.
“Everything Hurts is about the patience and effort it takes to keep relationships alive,” says Moreira. “I care deeply about the people in my life, but even the people you love can be frustrating sometimes. And it’s important to remember that we can be just as frustrating to them. We all have our moments — and I have my moments too. The ones that stick around are the ones you have a unique connection with. You can’t put up with everyone’s shit, so the people you keep close are the ones whose shit you actually want to deal with.”

ABOUT POISON THE WELL:
In the space of barely a breath, Poison the Well pacify fits of jarring brutality with moments of fragile beauty. Their unmistakable melodic hardcore gently dilutes the effects of trauma, betrayal, depression, and loss with hard-won wisdom and diligently earned self-acceptance. For as much force as they commit to the riffs and the breakdowns, there’s an equal amount of naked emotion encoded in their relatable hooks. At this point, they are unassumingly, yet undeniably embedded in the DNA of modern metal and hardcore. Poison The Well’s 1999 debut, The Opposite of December… A Season of Separation has claimed spots on Brooklyn Vegan’s 15 ’90s Metalcore Albums That Still Resonate Today; KERRANG!’s 21 Best U.S. Metalcore Albums of All Time; Loudwire’s 25 Best Metalcore Albums of All Time; and Revolver’s 10 Most Influential Metalcore Albums of All Time. Stereogumput it best, “The Opposite of December… A Season of Separation influenced a whole generation of metalcore bands.” Meanwhile, 2003’s You Come Before You remains regarded among Metal Hammer’s 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the 21st Century and Rock Sound’s 250 Greatest Albums of Our Lifetime. Despite going on hiatus following 2009’s The Tropic Rot, the group’s influence has only expanded over the years (as evidenced by over 100 million streams across their catalog). After touring in 2015 and 2021, they’ve commemorated milestone birthdays of both You Come Before You and The Opposite of December… with in-demand headline jaunts. Once again, the members felt an intense need to create as a unit. Rallying together, the guys channeled the spirit of their most celebrated material through a prism of new experience on their sixth full-length offering, Peace In Place.
