BLUE VALENTINES – THE TOM WAITS SONGBOOK DEBUTS LIVE AT GEORGE LANE, ST KILDA
Pop Preservation Society presents Blue Valentines – The Tom Waits Songbook, a new live production devoted to the words, music and atmosphere of one of songwriting’s most distinctive voices. The show debuts at George Lane, St Kilda on Sunday 16 November 2025 with a two-set matinee performance.
Curated by Melbourne musician and producer Victor Stranges, Blue Valentines is the fourth in a continuing series of Pop Preservation Society projects that reinterpret defining artists of the modern era, following Everyday I Write the Hook: The Elvis Costello Songbook, Black Market Clash: The Story of The Clash and Atomic: The Songs of Blondie.
Musically, the group aims for faithful replication of Waits’ recordings while allowing space for the music to stretch and breathe in performance. The result captures both the intimacy and the grit that define his work. Keyboardist Mike Dupp even leans into the occasional “bum note” that gave Waits’ records their haunted charm.
“We try to play these songs as they were recorded, but we’re not afraid to let them live,” says Stranges. “Some moments call for precision, others for instinct. Fans of the albums will recognise the textures and moods – we just bring them into the room.”
The repertoire spans several decades of Waits’ output, from the late-night tenderness of Closing Time to the earthy rhythms of Mule Variations. The performance highlights the humour, heartbreak and imagination that make his writing timeless.
The band: Victor Stranges (vocals and guitar), Mike Dupp (keyboards), Garry Allen (guitar), Annette Yates (double bass), Frank Scalzo (drums and percussion)
This debut marks the ensemble’s first full-length concert devoted entirely to Tom Waits, featuring two complete sets and close to two hours of music performed with respect, energy and individuality.

TANYA GEORGE ‘PIECE OF MESS’ (SINGLE)
Melbourne soul artist Tanya George returns with her most vulnerable single yet, ‘Piece of Mess’, out Thursday 6 November via Xelon. Tanya has carved a name for herself as one of Australia’s most innovative vocalists; from the bustling streets of Bourke Street, where she honed her looping craft, to major stages like St Kilda Festival, Womadelaide, Melbourne International Jazz Festival and Queenscliff Music Festival, swiftly becoming a powerhouse of authenticity and artistry. After a busy few months performing across Europe with appearances in Rome, Sofar Sounds Berlin, Noord Festival Noorderpark, DNA Art Club, Valentin Stüberl and more, Tanya is returning home for performances at Airlie Beach Music Festival and Folk, Rhythm and Life Festival.
‘Piece of Mess’ follows an emotional journey, inviting listeners to embrace their own imperfections and find strength in vulnerability. Diving deep into the chaos of love, the song was written on guitar in Tanya’s Elwood apartment, from the same creative burst that produced her earlier single ‘Serious’. The track is an honest reflection on the visceral frustrations and insecurities of a turbulent relationship.
“This song is about the emotional spiral of being stuck in a messy relationship, sick of the chaos, yet still fighting for love,” Tanya shares. “I wanted the song to have a lot of tension and release, mirroring the push and pull of relationships. Anyone who’s ever felt emotionally overwhelmed by love will relate.” – Tanya George
Currently travelling across Europe following performances at Government House and Roma Busking Festival in Italy, Tanya is no stranger to her home festival circuit in Australia, having performed at major events including St Kilda Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Womadelaide, and Queenscliff Music Festival, and has collaborated with brands Frank Muller, Melbourne Grand Prix, Quintessentially & Moet Hennessy, Ralph Lauren, Australian Open Tennis, NBL Basketball, Melbourne Fashion Week and many more. A finalist on The Voice Australia (Team Rita Ora, Top 5, 2021) and winner of Buskers by the Lake (2022) and the 2020 Alex Legg Award, Tanya’s looping earned her 4th place at the 2023 Gwangju Busking World Cup in South Korea. Her recent European tour saw her perform across Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands, including appearances at Roma Busking Festival, Sofar Sounds Berlin, and Alles is Noord Festival, further cementing her reputation as an international force to watch.

CAT & CALMELL ANNOUNCE NEW MIXTAPE LIVE LAUGH COOL STAR RELEASING NOVEMBER 28
PRE-SAVE HERE + ANNOUNCE SHOWS IN SYDNEY AND MELBOURNE TICKETS HERE
Indie pop-duo Cat & Calmell return with their third single of 2025, ‘Pop Music Feat. Cult Shφtta’. The release of ‘Pop Music’ comes alongside the announcement of their highly anticipated mixtape LIVE LAUGH COOL STAR, slated for release on November 28.
Cat & Calmell are having fun with expectations on their latest single, Pop Music, a title they admit is a cheeky nod to irony. “We just thought it’d be funny to name a track that’s objectively our least ‘Poppy’ song, Pop Music,” they laugh.
True to its name, Pop Music pushes against the boundaries of what pop is “supposed” to sound like. “Pop isn’t defined by one sound, it’s just whatever’s popular,” the band explains. “Any limitations people put on what a pop artist can do are self-imposed and arbitrary. We just wanted to make something fun and do whatever we wanted, and kind of poke fun at the whole idea.”
Lyrically, Pop Music is an anthem of manifestation and self-belief, a confident, tongue-in-cheek celebration of future success and bringing your crew along for the ride. “It’s about how we’re gonna blow up, spoil all our friends, and take everyone with us,” they say. “Even though it’s full-on and hectic, it’s actually a super positive song. Writing it was such a confidence booster — it’s basically our manifestation track.”
With its mix of underground energy, trap-inspired swagger, electronic thump, and pop polish, Pop Music is as bold as it is self-aware — a high-voltage statement from a group unafraid to rewrite the rules of pop on their own terms.
The DIY energy extends to the music video too — a chaotic, joy-filled visual shot entirely on a pair of Meta glasses. “It was an absolute nightmare to edit but a rager to shoot,” they admit. “We just wanted it to blast you in the face with chaos and fun. We <3 our friends, our life, and being young, dumb, and broke in Sydney.”
Next month, Cat & Calmell will bring the LIVE LAUGH COOL STAR mixtape to life with shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Tickets are available for presale here, general on sale begins Friday November 7 at 10am AEDT.

TELENOVA ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM THE WARNING OUT FEBRUARY 27TH
PRE-ORDER HERE
TOURING NATIONALLY IN MAY TICKETS HERE
RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘THE DEEP’ LISTEN HERE / WATCH HERE
The stark contrasts that fuel Telenova’s music almost tore it apart. Deeply personal themes and the quiet presence of faith run through songs that marry addictive pop melodies with dark, eclectic beats. It’s the kind of alchemy that could only emerge from a trio of complicated personalities with diverging beliefs and values. Yet from that creative friction comes something singular — ‘THE DEEP’, the commanding first single from their forthcoming sophomore album THE WARNING, out February 27, 2026. The band also announce their biggest national tour yet for May 2026.
There’s a direct connection between the tension in Telenova’s music and the people who create it. The light and the dark, the sky and the dirt: these aren’t just sonic motifs of THE WARNING but reflections of the band’s reality. THE WARNING strips away their cinematic mystique to reveal raw, chaotic, yet deeply human truths. Gritty, uneasy, vulnerable — the sound of three people holding together as their world fell apart, finding unity despite their differences.
“This record is the closest we’ve come to showing what’s really happening beneath the surface,” says frontwoman Angeline Armstrong. “There’s faith, fear, anxiety and awe – all at once.” Edward Quinn sees the album’s core as “accepting imperfection – pushing through insecurity and still creating something that feels alive.” For Joshua Moriarty, THE WARNING was a reckoning: “Either you confront what’s broken, or you disappear into it. This record was us choosing to confront it.”
Anchored by ‘THE DEEP’ – a driving, cinematic statement of intent – THE WARNING expands Telenova’s universe into something more urgent and exposed. It’s the sound of faith colliding with failure, beauty forged in exhaustion, and three distinct voices finding harmony in chaos.
Telenova will also bring their renowned live show to Australian stages in May 2026 in support of THE WARNING. The tour includes all-ages shows in Melbourne, Sydney & Adelaide, with special guests Fade Evare joining the lineup.

JON HARRIS Continues His Guitar Series with the New “Entitled” Performance
Instrumental rock guitarist Jon Harris has released a new playthrough video for his track “Entitled.” The video is part of his ongoing series that puts the spotlight on his guitar work—raw, precise, and deeply expressive. The song is a standout track from his celebrated debut album, Parallel Heart, released via Epictronic Records.
“Entitled was the first song completed for the album, and it set the tone for everything that followed,” says Jon. “At its peak, it feels like a cinematic escape — I picture myself behind the wheel of an IROC-Z, cruising the Vancouver coastline as the sun dips below the horizon. What’s unique about it is that most of the leads stay clean right up until the bridge, which was unexpected for me and gives the track a subtle, evolving tension before it finally breaks loose.”Says Jon
Parallel Heart continues to showcase Harris’ mastery of instrumental rock, blending technical precision with emotional resonance.

SKINDRED To Release New Album, You Got This, On April 17, 2026. Infectiously Catchy Title Track Out Now!
Welsh ragga metal legends Skindred have released their brand-new single ‘You Got This’, accompanied by a brilliantly entertaining video.
The title track of their forthcoming ninth album, which has just been announced with a release date of April 17th via the legendary Earache Records, ‘You Got This’ is an instant Skindred classic, with Mikey Demus’s wrecking ball riffs bouncing through your head, as drummer Arya Goggin detonates a characteristically full-throttle rhythm. Meanwhile inimitable frontman Benji Webbe lurches between uncompromising toasting and delivering hooks like a heavyweight champion.

The inspiration for the track came when gym-devotee Benji saw a man struggling to complete his exercises as he started his rehabilitation after a stroke. The personal trainer told him, “You got this,” and the mood completely lifted.
“I was watching from a distance, and I could see the struggle and the pain, but in that moment, I knew he had got this,” recalls Benji. “It’s such an empowering statement and it applies to so many battles that everybody faces: it could be a recovery from a stroke, or it could be studying for your exams at school. For me, having songs that lift people who are going through tough times is the most important thing. I feel like that’s what I’m put on this planet to do.”
Benji is the ultimate frontman — a man whose wild enthusiasm is instantly contagious, an adrenaline shot of pure motivation. His phenomenally powerful vocals are balanced with lighter, melodic moments of emotion that champion self-belief, resilience, and finding joy in the small things that make life worth living – he’s the loudest life coach you’ll ever meet.
And on the album You Got This he leads the newly slimmed down Newport trio on a thrilling journey to follow the mainstream breakthrough that came with 2023’s critically-acclaimed album Smile. That album shot straight into the UK Official Album Chart at #2 and Skindred went on to receive the Best Alternative Music Act Award at the MOBOs, also winning Best UK Act at the Heavy Music Awards.
Long-revered as one of the best live bands on the planet, they played their largest headline show to date at Wembley Arena and toured the world, smashing every festival and headline performance and winning tens of thousands of new fans in the process. Those new fans will join Skindred’s long-established rabid fanbase in lapping up every note and lyric of You Got This. It’s an all-killer-no-filler set which features everything that people love about the band – hard-hitting slammers, mega addictive hooks, earwormy soundclash elements, and dancehall vibes destined to ignite venues across the globe.
Production came from the Grammy-winning Jay Ruston, who Arya admires for having the songwriting chops to work with ‘80s power ballad master Desmond Child, while also producing Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Mike Patton’s, Mr Bungle. “It was working with someone who didn’t just stay in one lane, which is exactly what Skindred has always been about,” says the multi-talented drummer.
So now it’s all about Skindred’s future. There are big plans incoming, especially live, where Arya has seen the audience evolve into a mix of youngsters attending their first gig alongside the two generations above them. Benji is dreaming of Coachella or a prime Pyramid Stage slot at Glastonbury. But Mikey comes at the question from a different angle.
“When you start a band, you don’t think for a second that you’re going to headline Wembley. I don’t feel like we made it happen; the audience made it happen by committing to be there and travelling so far to come. When you’re in a band you’re always looking at the next thing and it can be hard to be like, wow, what’s happening right now is amazing. There are still so many people out there who should know us but have never heard of us. So, we’ve got this whole fight ahead of us still.”
And the motto for the band as they stand on the precipice of even greater success? Skindred – You Got This!!

LIV CARTLEDGE RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE. FIRST TASTE OF LONG-AWAITED ALBUM COMING MARCH 2026
After a few years away from the release circuit, Beechworth-born singer-songwriter Liv Cartledge makes a powerful return with her new single “Here We Go Again”, out November 12th. It’s the first glimpse of her upcoming album – a body of work three years in the making, set for release in March 2026.
Known for her unmistakable voice that growls and soars in equal measure, Cartledge once again proves her mastery of raw, unfiltered storytelling. “Here We Go Again” is a gritty reflection on the cycles we find ourselves in, the patterns we swear we’ll break, and the tenderness that comes from trying again anyway.
Recorded in Melbourne with producer James Seymour, the track threads together the warmth of folk rock with Cartledge’s trademark honesty – steeped in the textured sounds of the High Country she calls home.
“This song was supposed to be just a bit of fun,” Cartledge laughs. “It came to life in the kitchen of my sharehouse in Collingwood while I was mucking around with Joe, my guitarist (and great friend!). We had this vision of making one of those ‘Dolly and Kenny’ duets – Joe had some epic one-liner lyrics in his phone notes, so we started there. It sits in a body of work that’s intricate and filled with big feelings and big stories –
but I ended up really loving its lightheartedness”
Following time spent writing, recording, and refining her sound, “Here We Go Again” marks the beginning of a new chapter – one grounded in reflection but hungry for release.
Cartledge is currently touring with The Waifs, before celebrating the single’s release with a launch show at The Gem, Collingwood on Sunday November 16th.

LUCID SAFARI RELEASE RESPLENDENT RECORDING ‘RUNNING’
Meanjin/Brisbane indie-rock outfit Lucid Safari return with their shimmering single ‘Running’ – produced by Blake Malone (Amy Shark, Tia Gostelow, Budjerah).
‘Running’ fuses alt-rock nostalgia with a contemporary indie sensibility, glittering guitars and dynamic rhythms that capture the ache of unspoken connection. It’s a track that feels both expansive and intimate, showcasing the band’s ability to turn vulnerability into something anthemic and euphoric.
Lead singer Daniel Lewis explains the inspiration behind the track:
“‘Running’ is about that ache you feel for someone you never really got the chance to know. It’s that unspoken connection that lingers, the one that got away before anything real could even start. You’re replaying moments, chasing fragments and memories that never quite left you. Underneath the energy of the song, there’s a quiet kind of longing about how time moves on, people change, but some feelings just stay with you.”
Since forming, the band have carved a growing name within the national indie scene, sharing stages with the likes of British India, Kate Miller-Heidke and Ian Moss, and selling out their headline show at Meanjin/Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge (250 tickets).
Drawing inspiration from luminaires The Jungle Giants, The Temper Trap and The Wombats, Lucid Safari craft a vibrant yet unhurried sound, soaked in the warmth and pulse of Coastal Meanjin/Brisbane energy. With ‘Running’, Lucid Safari deliver a moment of reflection and release – confronting the ghosts of desire, and the bittersweet truth that some people will never know who we’ve become.

DOBBY DELIVERS NEW SINGLE ‘FIGHT (Kim’s Song)’
Proud Filipino and Murrawarri composer, rapper, producer and drummer DOBBY returns with deeply personal new single ‘FIGHT’ (Kim’s Song)’, out today via ABC Music.
Says DOBBY of the single: “FIGHT (Kim’s Song) is a dedication to Kim Dalton, my Taekwondo teacher. Kim was selected to represent Australia in the 2004 Athens Olympics, but was diagnosed with Adrenocortical Carcinoma (ACC), a very rare form of Cancer. This year being the 20th anniversary of her passing, I dedicate this song as a tribute to her life and legacy, and the profound impact she personally left on me, first as a black-belt in Taekwondo, and now as a fighter on the stage.”
‘FIGHT (Kim’s Song’)’ is the first piece of new music from DOBBY since the release of his debut album WARRANGU; River Story, a powerful sonic archive of Indigenous land knowledge and environmental justice. The album won the ARIA Award for Best World Music Album and was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize. Its second single, Ancestor, became the #1 most played song on FBi Radio in 2024, and the album was named Album of the Week on FBi Radio, Double J, and 2SER.

JXCKY INVITES YOU IN TO THE BEAUTIFUL CHAOS. A BODY FOR AN EYE EP OUT now
Melbourne’s shape-shifting provocateur JXCKY emerges reborn with A BODY FOR AN EYE, a visceral and unflinching new EP arriving Friday, October 31. Spinning chaos into catharsis, the Chinese-Cambodian queer artist fuses rock grit and trap flair to soundtrack the beautiful mess of modern identity. Known for his razor-sharp hooks, falsetto-laced vocals and theatrical intensity, JXCKY has built a reputation for turning pain into performance — a sonic exorcism that’s as raw as it is radiant.
LISTEN TO A BODY FOR AN EYE EP HERE
At its core, A BODY FOR AN EYE is a reckoning. “It’s a take on the phrase ‘an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind’,” JXCKY explains. “But what if instead of taking an eye, I plunged head-first and took… an arm? A leg? A body? (Metaphorically speaking, of course). I wanted to unravel the anatomy of revenge – what fuels it, how it burns through you and the consequences, if any. This EP is full of confession, deep-seated reflection, loss, taking accountability, hard-won clarity and, to this day, the unfathomable grief for someone I’ll always love.”
The result is a haunting, cinematic record that balances vengeance and vulnerability in equal measure; a fearless exploration of the emotional cost of holding on, and the freedom that comes from letting go.
The EP’s focus track, ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once” encapsulates this duality through both sound and vision. Accompanied by a striking video, the track draws inspiration from the Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All At Once.
WATCH VIDEO FOR ‘EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE’ HERE
“As a queer Asian, I resonated deeply with the film and it directly inspired the writing of the song and the video treatment,” says JXCKY. “Like the film, I wanted to use the concept of the multiverse to highlight my decline in mental health — no matter where I was or who I was with. I hope the song and video contribute to the conversation around suicide awareness and remind others that they aren’t alone in their struggle.” With its kaleidoscopic visuals and emotional rawness, “Everything Everywhere” stands as one of JXCKY’s most powerful artistic statements yet.
Following the release of his debut EP Thriving In Perpetual Darkness, which tore through Apple Music playlists and positioned him as one of Australia’s most compelling new voices – JXCKY took an unplanned step back from the spotlight to confront a widely noticed personal crisis. That hiatus became a turning point. Now he returns with A BODY FOR AN EYE – a bold reawakening that channels survival into sound. The project is both confrontation and confession, an offering to the queer, POC and creative communities he stands with. For JXCKY, music has never been just self-expression; it’s survival, reclamation and protest wrapped in velvet and distortion.
His rise has been equally as fearless as his art. A proud alum of the Converse All Stars AU/NZ Class of 2025, JXCKY also received a Creative Victoria Music Works Grant to fund this new body of work, a testament to his vision and artistic integrity. ELENI DRAKE RELEASES HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM CHUCK OUT VIA MNRK
Previously a completely self-produced and self-released artist, Eleni has worked with co-producer Frank Colucci (Ashnikko, Ethel Cain) on her full-length label debut, CHUCK, which pushes her sonic palette into richer new territory as she finds revelation and growth amongst the rubble of a previous
relationship. It’s a stunningly human portrait of love and pain, and how those two states can interconnect in the most disarming and sometimes destructive of ways, whilst also building anurturing musical world to fall into and find solace within.
Speaking on the record, Eleni says: “This album is me acknowledging that all things must come to an end, and embracing this truth without resistance. Some souls cross our paths for only a fleeting moment, and in those moments, we can find joy, respect, and gratitude. Life itself is a gift, and so too are the memories we carry with us, etched into the fabric of our being.
‘Chuck’ — a word we use to discard, to relinquish without thought, as if life itself is something to be cast aside with ease. Do we, too, move through life with such carelessness? Do we give too much of ourselves, or not enough? Are we truly doing our best, or merely surviving, grasping at whatever means we have to endure? I guess I wrote it in a phase of my life, where I was questioning all these things.”
The record’s lead single, ‘Ripples’, explores what it means to face our flaws and the bittersweet reality of how our relationships with others can be affected. It grows in intensity with swelling strings, lilting between a velvety dreamscape in which Eleni’s piercing vocals guide us through her self-analysis.
Speaking on the track, Eleni says: “‘Ripples’ is a song of introspection and accountability—having something pure and good, only to unravel it by walking away. The song speaks to the quiet courage of confronting one’s own flaws, and the understanding that healing is an inward journey we must all face.”
Chuck continues Eleni’s journey from her celebrated 2024 EP, Above Deep Water; her first release on new label MNRK. Having self-released her previous projects, Eleni continues to find a devoted following for her undeniable talent. She’s earned fans along the way at tastemakers including BBC Radio 6 Music, NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Consequence, The Independent, The Arts Desk, CLASH, La Blogotheque and Wonderland, and last year took her intimate live set to The Great Escape and SXSW festivals.
Eleni’s hauntingly beautiful sound is at once refreshing and timeless, uplifting and introspective, inspired by a deep love of music that spans from Mazzy Star and Adrienne Lenker to Mac Miller and Cleo Sol. With over 40 million streams to date and still only just getting going, 2025 is proving to be Eleni’s biggest year yet with the release of her most personal and profound music

VOICE OF LELE HONOURS HER FATHER IN HEARTFELT NEW SINGLE ‘KAMAM’
Blending island pop rhythms, soulful melodies and modern production, ‘KAMAM’ is the deeply personal new single from Voice of Lele out Friday November 7, a daughter’s tribute to her late father – a man whose strength, spirit and song continue to shape her life and artistry.
LISTEN TO ‘KAMAM’ HERE
“Born far from home but held by my father’s love, KAMAM tells the story that shaped my spirit, my voice, and the woman I am today,” says Lele.
Produced by Rob Amoruso (The Rubens, MAY-A, Baker Boy), the track layers Lele’s distinct harmonies over lush, island-inspired instrumentation, anchored by a moving guitar outro that lovingly recreates her father’s signature Fender Strat tone. Sung partly in the Biak language, the chorus “Kamam, Yaswar Au Kaku” translates to “Dad, I love you very much.”
‘KAMAM’ marks 20 years since her father’s passing, a milestone that deepens the song’s emotional resonance.
“He left us suddenly at 55,” Lele shares. “This song is my way of saying thank you — for his love, his lessons, and for showing me how to stand tall in both my culture and my music.”
In the accompanying video, past and present beautifully intertwine – childhood memories of Lele and her father flicker behind her as she sings by his side today, bridging generations through song.
WATCH THE VIDEO HERE
Music runs deep in Lele’s blood. Her late father, the lead singer and composer of the legendary Black Brothers Band, was a cultural icon who filled stadiums across the Pacific and Indonesia and inspired generations of Melanesian artists. Following in his footsteps, Lele and her sisters formed The Black Sistaz, performing alongside UB40, Julian Marley, Michael Franti, Katchafire, Natiruts, George Telek, Edou, and SOJA, and appearing at Cali Roots (USA), Glastonbury (UK), Montreal Jazz Festival (CA), WOMAD (AUS) and more.
Lele’s story is one of joy, pride and purpose. Born a refugee, she carries her roots not as a burden but as a blessing – a reminder of the strength, colour, and connection that come from belonging to something bigger than yourself. Her journey across lands and cultures has only fuelled her mission: to share her heritage with the world through music that uplifts, empowers, and celebrates life in all its forms.
Stepping into her own light, Lele launched her solo career with ‘Island Proud’, followed by ‘Jow Manfun’ and ‘Amazing Grace’ in 2024. In January 2025, she released the duet ‘My Island Home’ with husband and Australian world music star Mitch Tambo, which reached the top of the charts. Additional singles ‘E Mambo’ and ‘My Island Home (Solo)’ further showcased her magnetic voice and deep cultural soul.
Her performances from Carols By Candlelight and the Australian Open to Dunggula Cultural Festival and Vision Splendid radiate a joy and energy that remind audiences what music is truly for: connection, celebration, and healing.
With ‘KAMAM’, Voice of Lele delivers her most personal work to date – a song that bridges generations and borders, carrying forward the love, spirit, and strength of her father through the universal language of song.

SOUTH SUMMIT CONTINUE TO EXPAND THEIR SOUND WITH BOLD NEW TRACK ‘WE ARE’
EASTSIDE TOUR THIS NOVEMBER
After igniting a groundswell of new fans and momentum with ‘TOP OF THE HILL’, their biggest release to date, one of Australia’s most exciting new bands South Summit return with a major sonic pivot in their electrifying new single ‘WE ARE’ out today via G.Y.R.O.
LISTEN TO ‘WE ARE’ HERE
Where ‘TOP OF THE HILL’ soared with bright melodies and coastal warmth, ‘WE ARE’ dives into deeper territory – a gritty, production-heavy anthem that fuses reggae spirit with West Coast hip-hop energy, signalling a confident new chapter for the Perth-based five-piece.
“WE ARE is about moving through life without listening to the norms of society. When we come together and have each other’s backs, we won’t fold to anything,” the band share.
Built on bold rhythms and a commanding hook, the brand-new track explores the power of unity and the strength of self-belief; what we can achieve as one, and the potential of each person when surrounded by likeminded people. It’s raw, fearless, and reflective of South Summit’s evolution as artists unafraid to experiment.
“Fans can expect energy and a bit more grit in this one compared to ‘Top of the Hill’. We love to keep our fans on their toes and give them something new with every release. This song reaches a new era for us – and it’s the perfect time to express that.”
Taking cues from American West Coast hip-hop and blending it with their signature reggae influences, ‘WE ARE’ marks the first time the band have leaned so heavily into production, crafting a hybrid sound they describe as “almost a rap song.” The track’s beat-driven energy stems from guitarist Josh’s original demo (which he imagined as “the loading screen for Grand Theft Auto”) setting the tone for the song’s cinematic, rebellious vibe.
Recorded at Blackbird Studios in a single high-energy session, the heaving track captures the adrenaline of a band in full creative flow.
Fans will soon get to experience the brand-new single live for the first time in Melbourne and Sydney this November, as part of their Eastside Headline Tour, joined by Cheeky Leash, Local The Neighbour, and Civic Video. The band promise an explosive live rendition: “The live version is hectic – such a gangster sound that’s gonna touch the soul. It’s got a massive singalong chorus that everyone will froth and join in on.” They first tested the track while supporting Tash Sultana at the Enmore Theatre and the crowd response confirmed it was destined to be a standout moment in their catalogue.
Earlier release ‘TOP OF THE HILL’ earned the band’s highest first-week streams, a First Play and interview on triple j Drive, additions and airplay across triple j, triple j Unearthed and Triple M Homegrown, media support from Rolling Stone and 10 Magazine Australia, plus placements across Spotify’s New Indie Arrivals and New Music Friday AU/NZ and Apple Music’s Today’s Indie Rock and New In Rock
They’ll continue a packed live schedule through the end of the year with performances at Triple J’s 50th Anniversary in Newcastle, Spilt Milk Festival, Sweet Home Aotearoa (NZ), and as main support for Tash Sultana’s 2026 UK/EU tour.
‘WE ARE’ signals a fearless new era for South Summit – a rallying cry of unity, rebellion and creative evolution from one of Australia’s most dynamic rising bands.

SIMONE KEANE ‘COME BACK’ (SINGLE)
When Simone Keane wrote her new single Come Back, she’d been reading memoirs and biographies about people who had suffered through drug and alcohol addiction.
Keane was unsure who she was addressing as she sat on her couch singing. It could have been a number of people who had drifted into addiction. As the song took shape, Keane realised she was singing in the voice of an inner child asking the adult version of themselves, “When you gonna come back to me?”
Come Back addresses substance addiction with compassion. Keane says, “Many who struggle with addiction are trying to escape painful memories, trauma, grief, anxiety. Many suffer in silence – some become homeless. I’ve lost friends who died way too young.”
Produced by Lee Buddle – Crank Studio (Green Day, Macklemore, Justin Bieber) Come Back is a spacious, floaty track with classical strings and a dreamy wild-west slide guitar.
“When Josh Dyson arrived at CRANK with his arsenal of instruments, I mentioned how much I loved the slide guitar on the Mazzy Star classic Fade into You. “He knew just the feel I was going for, recording some sorrowful, bendy slide tones straight up!” Dyson also plays some warm, subtle bass on the track.
Deeply moving classical stringed harmonies by Emily Gelineau (violin) and Kevin Gillam (cello) convey the light and shade of addiction, while Keane’s velvety vocals and acoustic finger picking carry a lilting melody.
Keane’s songwriting influences include Lana Del Ray, PJ Harvey, Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star), Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Cowboy Junkies – “Anything dreamy and hauntingly affecting.”
Keane understands that re-visiting darker aspects of childhood can be painful, but believes the younger versions of ourselves would never want us to neglect or abandon them. “When others mistreat us, it doesn’t mean we deserve it. I sing about this in Come Back, ‘For you did not deserve their brutality – you did not deserve their inhumanity.’”
A deeply moving animation video conveys the vulnerability of a character drifting further into addiction.
A child watches their adult self float away in a hot air balloon that was once a framed picture on their bedroom wall. Menacing shadows haunt the child, raising questions of trauma. The figure in the balloon basket sets off on a wondrous trip through kaleidoscopic movement and colour, but a storm sets in. Lightning illuminates frightening flashbacks. The child self below wonders if their adult self will ever come back.
Keane came up with the video’s concept, storyboard and hand drawings. It was animated by talented and intuitive designer Becky Majidi of 3rdstep.
Keane is donating Bandcamp sales of Come Back to Street Smart Australia which runs campaigns for small, frontline organisations helping people facing homelessness.
Simone Keane is an independent singer song-writer and recording artist from Albany Western Australia. She is a dual WAM Award winner with a total of six nominations. She has released five albums and has charted in the Top 10 ARIA Charts, Top 10 AIR Charts and FAI Charts. She also received an Honourable Mention for US based Music for Humanity Song Contest 2024. Keane’s moving songs receive ongoing airplay around Australia, USA and Canada.

SARALYN’S COUNTRY SOUL SHINES IN NEW RENDITION OF COUNTRY CLASSIC ‘IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES’
Fresh from her unforgettable turn on The Voice Australia 2025, powerhouse vocalist and storyteller Saralyn returns with a moving reimagining of one of country music’s most timeless ballads, ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’.
Originally penned by Garth Brooks in 1989 and later covered by her own coach on The Voice – Ronan Keating – the song holds a special place in Saralyn’s story. “If Tomorrow Never Comes has always been one of those timeless songs that stays with you. I first sang it on The Voice Australia 2025 for my blind audition, and it completely changed everything” she reflects.
Saralyn’s heartfelt new recording brings a woman’s perspective – and the wisdom of a devoted mum – to a classic message about love, legacy, and living without regret. “Singing it as a mum of two beautiful girls, the lyrics hold an even deeper meaning. It’s tender, honest, and all about making sure the people who matter most truly know how you feel. Recording my version felt so natural, like revisiting a part of my story.”
Produced and mixed by Jake Davey and mastered by Rhys Zacher (Spinlight Studios), the track blends modern warmth with nostalgic country textures. While the accompanying music video, also produced by Jake Davey, captures the song’s emotion with cinematic grace.
“Shooting the video at White Barn in Pokolbin was magical. The huge barn was the perfect backdrop, and the warmth of the team there was second to none. Everything just clicked – the setting, the people, the energy – it all made the day so special.”
Saralyn has fast become one of the most talked-about emerging artists in Australian country music. Her previous releases have reached impressive heights, including ‘White Butterfly’ (#2 on the AMRAP Charts) and ‘I Would Run To Get To You’ (#4), while ‘Freedom Train’ hit #1 on Tasmanian OZ CMR Country airplay chart.
“Saralyn’s storytelling cuts straight to the heart – raw, real, and full of country soul” – ABC Country.
On stage, Saralyn’s connection with audiences is undeniable. Having recently wowed audiences at the Deni Ute Muster, Lakeside Festival and as the 2024 Gympie Muster Talent Search winner, she continues to build her live reputation. She’s already opened for some of the county’s best, including Amber Lawrence, Hayley Jensen and Kasey Chambers.
“Saralyn’s live performances are nothing short of captivating – she owns the stage and the crowd.” – CountryTown
Her recent Songbird Sessions Tour with MusicNSW saw her share songs and stories in towns across regional NSW, and she’ll return to the road with a headline band show at the 2026 Tamworth Country Music Festival at The Press Basement Bar.
Beyond the spotlight, Saralyn’s story is one of heart and heritage. Growing up as one of ten children, she spent her early years busking alongside her dad – tambourine in hand – learning the power of connection through song. Today, she balances motherhood with a rising music career, serving as Newcastle Ambassador for The Giving Machines, a global charitable initiative encouraging meaningful acts of kindness.
It’s that same sincerity that defines both her artistry and her outlook – a blend of grit, grace, and groundedness that’s striking a chord nationwide. As Country Music Capital News put it, “An emerging powerhouse in Australian country music, Saralyn delivers songs that stay with you.”
SHOW DATES:
15th & 16th November – Full Throttle Ranch – Buttai, NSW
28th November – The Fiddler – Rouse Hill, NSW
22nd January – Tamworth Country Music Festival – The Press – Tamworth, NSW

PLATONIC SEX ‘ NOT A COUNTRY SONG’ (SINGLE)
Meanjin/Brisbane queer indie-rock group Platonic Sex share ‘Not a Country Song’ (Live at the Museum); Australian headline shows from November 14. Debut album Face to the Flywire out now independently.
One month on from the release of their debut album, Face To The Flywire, Meanjin/Brisbane queer indie-pop quartet, Platonic Sex, release the first in a series of live videos, shot at Brisbane’s historic Old Museum, extending the visual and sonic world of the LP’s source material.
Directed by Dan Gerada with cinematography by Erin Nugent, the ensemble includes banjo and additional vocals by award-winning instrumentalist Jo Davie, violins by Kat Augustakis and Gareth Mewes, cello by Renee Edson and viola by Kirra Watts. The group continued their work with Ball Park Music’s Sam Cromack for audio mixing. To develop the arrangements, the band collaborated with multi-instrumentalist Callum Pask, whose contemporary jazz trio features Platonic Sex drummer Ryan Hammermeister.
“Callum is so talented and lovely to work with. It was one of the best collaborative experiences we have had from start to finish,” says Jane Millroy.
Selecting a small group of songs to elevate with an expanded ensemble was a tough deliberation, but ‘Not A Country Song’ was a natural first. After recording the original track with Antonia Gauci at Golden Retriever Studios, “I remember wishing we added banjo,” says Jane.
“The unplugged nature of the song made me want to return to it,” adds Ryan. “Inviting in more layers, like strings, piano and the double bass.”
“Collaborating with Callum, we brought out some of the Country aspects whilst still holding the intimacy of the song,” Bridget Brandolini shares. “Especially in the ending! Building up the outro with all those harmonies was a dream.”
At the Old Museum, heritage architecture and diegetic lighting are offset by the artificial glow of an orb-like sun structure, suspended above the performance. Reminiscent of musical theatre or classic cinema, its insertion indicates time of day and mood, bathing the players in cool yellow

Sydney-via-Tokyo synth-pop producer, Elmo Aoyama announces debut album Demons (Nov 27); shares ‘Early’
Eora/Sydney-via-Tokyo sound artist, producer, and DJ Elmo Aoyama (she/they) has announced her debut album Demons, her first record in five years, out Friday, November 27 via Dinosaur City Records.
Alongside the announcement comes propulsive new single ‘Early’, which whirs together slinky 80s synths, shuddering drum beats and industrial glitches. The song is a sweat-inducing kiss-off, detailing the horror of early morning shifts and the catharsis of having your freedom – and time – restored.
Joining ‘Early’ on the album is ‘Ocean’, a synth-driven, electro-pop track addressing the realities of the climate crisis, released last month.
The ‘Memory Palace’ or ‘the method of loci’ is an ancient technique of memory enhancement, where one creates an imaginary location to house personal images and experiences. On Elmo Aoyama’s extraordinary Demons, the Sydney musician has constructed her own icy palace of dark, brooding synth-pop, where each song opens up a door to an experience of climate anxiety, natural wonder, magical travel and mental anguish. “I’m interested in time as a vessel that we travel through,” says Aoyama about the record.
Written and recorded over ten years, in a prolific period of travel across Australia, China, Mongolia and Vietnam, Demons vibrates with a restless, journeying spirit; evoking ideas of migration, portals and ghosts through its sound, which toggles between narcotic, stretched-out synth-pop and hypnotic, fuzzy dance music. The record’s sound (and her live set up of synthesisers, samplers and microphones) was partially informed by a period spent in Vietnam, where Aoyama saw Saigon punk bands play nightclub sets, which incorporated electronics and elements of performance art. Inspiration also came from nature and animals—the clanking of horses’ hooves during a race in Mongolia, the image of fishing birds following a ferry in the harbour of Sydney.
Elmo Aoyama’s breakthrough came in 2020, with the release of her debut EP Spells, which garnered widespread acclaim from KEXP, triple j and NME Magazine, among others, plus an fbi.radio SMAC Award nomination for “Next Big Thing”. She has played alongside Mick Harvey, Nabihah Iqbal and Lydia Lunch, among others, and is currently touring Japan, following a string of shows in China. In addition to her synth-pop project, Aoyama plays electric violin in Sydney post-punk outfit Fully Feudal, and was a band member of guitar-pop group Big White.

MICK THOMAS’ ROVING COMMISSION SHARE MINI-DOCUMENTARY ABOUT MAKING NEW ALBUM AT NEIL FINN’S ROUNDHEAD STUDIOS IN AUCKLAND
MICK THOMAS’ ROVING COMMISSION – the ARIA-Award winning former Weddings Parties Anything singer/songwriter Mick Thomas and his band of fellow travelers – have today shared a mini-documentary about the recording of their new album GoComeBack, which was made in Auckland at Neil Finn’s Roundhead studios with award winning producer Steven Schram. The documentary follows the release of the album last Friday (October 31) and comes ahead of their national GoTourComeBack tour which kicks off this Friday night (November 7) and goes through to New Years Day.
GoComeBack was preceded by a couple of singles, the first of which, “First Step in a Homeward Direction” entered the AIR Chart at #1 in June and was followed by a sold-out national tour. That tour was followed by a tour of record stores in which Mick and band members performed intimate in-store performances in Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Hobart. The purpose of the in-store tour is to hang out with fans and support some retailers who support the band, and in turn to highlight the lack of human connection in today’s music business.
The in-store tour received substantial media coverage, including a story on ABC TV Weekend News Breakfast.
The latest single from GoComeBack is “A Mighty Ride”, which is sung by Roving Commissioner Brooke Taylor and which will appeal to everyone who loves Melbourne, and which, says Mick, is “a lighthearted call for unity in a time of division. The bells on a number 96 Tram chime to bring the song in and the band sail away in a joyous romp through their hometown. The Roving Commission are a band that have always straddled Melbourne’s ridiculous rock n’ roll north and south divide. The song brings the audience along for the ride. Both sides are good. Both sides rock.”

JOE HASSELVANDER Doom Metal Godfather and Former Pentagram Legend To Release Fire On The Mountain This Friday, November 7. First Single, Quasimodo Out Now
Doom Metal Godfather Joe Hasselvander is set to release his new solo album, Fire On The Mountain on November 7 via Savant Guarde Records!
Having played in legendary, groundbreaking bands such as Raven, Pentagram and Blue Cheer, Joe is an icon of the scene with his own extensive solo catalogue.
Fire On The Mountain …is a Monolith….and so is its creator, Joe Hasselvander. When Savant Guarde Records approached Joe with the idea of releasing his past solo work, it came as a surprise and as an honour when Joe offered them the opportunity to release his latest solo work, Fire on the Mountain!
Savant Guarde founder Daniel Rozell comments “We asked to hear the recordings, and quickly learned that this is the type of album we were looking for, and it has all the elements of what gives Joe’s work in the genre an edge over his contemporaries. Fire on the Mountain is a monolith of an album, with very welcome elements and very pleasant and heavy hooks and surprises. Hasselvander has been dubbed “The Godfather of Doom” by his dedicated cult following, and Joe has really met that mark in spades.”
The first single from Fire On The Mountain is Quasimodo. With its god-like riff and sinister vocal delivery, this is old school doom metal the way it was always meant to be.
It was around twenty-five years ago that Joe would set the benchmark for Doom Metal and also lay down the foundations of his future solo stylings. It was when he and long time musical partner, Bobby Liebling sat down to record 1999’s Review Your Choices and 2001’s critically acclaimed Sub-Basement, with Hasselvander at the controls, handling Guitar, Drums and Bass duties, reuniting with Liebling after a near decade hiatus under an all new Pentagram Banner. Sub-Basement is considered by many to be a masterwork and pinnacle achievement in the Doom Genre, take this review, for example Pentagram – Sub-Basement – Julian Cope presents Head Heritage) where long time music critic/authority and British post-punk superstar Julian Cope lays down quite possibly the best and most honest album review a band would ever want or deserve.
Joe’s time with Pentagram began in 1978, lasted 5 studio albums, (drumming and songwriting on the first three) ending finally in 2003, when Joe would turn to other projects, concentrating heavily on his solo career. While a member of Pentagram, Hasselvander also toured the world as drummer with NWOBHM icons Raven, recording 10 studio albums and EP’s from 1988 to 2017.
Joe Hasselvander forged an unmistakable sound on Review Your Choices and Sub-Basement; a style that he would preserve and perfect through the coming years, starting with the first self titled “The Hounds of Hasselvander” in 2007. This time, handling all vocals and songwriting duties on top of his one man power trio formula. Joe would rely on his famous one man power-trio formula, occasionally inviting guest musicians to perform on solo releases.
“2017 would prove a landmark year and a turning point for Hasselvander as a somewhat serious health scare would prove a major setback in Joe’s life. Not only would this prevent him from a heavy touring schedule, but he would also be forced to put down the drumsticks off-road as well. Hasselvander, not one to back down from a challenge, turned to his Gibson SG and the hallowed halls of the recording studio, aiming to revitalize his solo career,
Bringing in guest musicians on his previous Hounds of Hasselvander album 2016’s Ancient Rocks, (an album of covers of 60s and 70s obscure hard rock nuggets) Joe began working in the studio with other musicians, turning the Hounds of Hasselvander into more of a band unit. Joe would release 2021s Another Dose of Life, which featured an entire band behind him, and Joe taking on the lead guitar as his primary instrument.
Only seven years passed since his health scare forced him to step away from the drum seat. With faith and determination, the man undertook a rigorous fitness and health regiment which cleared him of all ailments, and (under doctor’s orders), was given a clean bill of health and a green light to return to the drums in 2024. Joe would continue his one-man power-trio studio assault, singing and performing all his own instruments, on his own songs, and putting his very soul on the line for Fire on the Mountain. Get it, it’s a Monolith.
In Joe’s own words, “Fire On The Mountain” is heavy metal rock & roll at its finest. I decided to step out boldly on this one with a complete hybrid variety album showcasing my hard rock & rockabilly roots driven by my loudest and heaviest riffs. CLARE PERROTT Shines with Life and Joy on Carefree ‘Biting On The Hand’
Single Out Friday NOW
Clare Perrott returns with her bright and lively sophomore single ‘Biting On The Hand’, out Friday, October 31. Like a sun-drenched afternoon gathering, spilling over with laughter and hazy summer nostalgia, the Boorloo/Perth-based artist channels unabashed self-reflection through high-spirited Americana textures and a touch of angsty charm.
An alt-folk / indie anthem for the emotionally confused but self-aware, ‘Biting On The Hand’ brims with warmth and bursts with joy, capturing that fleeting, free-falling feeling of letting go.
Finger-picked banjo brings a country twang to the track, while fuzzy guitar licks slide in and out, adding colour and texture. Clare’s tone feels both playful and casually assured as she moves through the verses, then teeters on a cliff-edge in the bridge as she releases brief cries.
The chorus takes a leap as Perrott breaks out into long-held high notes coloured by her natural vibrato, while the band lifts around her with layers of glowing Americana instrumentation. The song ends in a rush of celebration, the band chanting out behind an electric guitar solo, bringing the track to a collective cheer.
‘Biting On The Hand’ is Clare’s playful reckoning with regret and self-sabotage, capturing the human habit of circling back to what hurts, even when it no longer serves any purpose. Speaking on the single, Clare Perrott explains:
“This year I really got into thinking about bad habits that I just can’t seem to shake, and with dirty banjo and distorted nylon guitar this song was born.”
That reflection forms the heart of ‘Biting On The Hand’, a track that transforms personal frustration into something liberating, communal and almost celebratory.
“The main message of the song is that we have to let go of things that don’t serve us anymore,” she adds. “I personally keep going back to past mistakes because somehow I cannot let go. We keep biting on the hand that doesn’t help us and going back for more when it only causes sadness and grief.”
Full of life, ‘Biting On The Hand’ follows Perrott’s stunning debut single ‘Philadelphia’, released in May earlier this year. The track struck a chord immediately, earning support from Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Countrytown, Triple J Unearthed, ABC Country, RTR FM, Apple Music and more.
‘Biting On The Hand’ arrives Friday, October 31, carrying Clare Perrott’s vibrant blend of honesty and heart into the summer. She will mark the release with a headline show at Mojo’s Bar, Fremantle, on Friday, 28th November, before taking the stage at an unannounced festival appearance to close the year out.

FLASH POETRY Unpacks Money, Ego and Meaning on ‘Reality, Now’
Ahead of Debut Album. Single Out October 31 | Debut Album Out November 28
There’s a chill in the air of modern life, and Flash Poetry captures it with surgical clarity on his upcoming album ‘Reality, Now’, out Friday, November 28. The title track arrives first on Friday, October 31, setting the tone for what’s to come. Blending spoken word, hip-hop, psych-rock and jazz-infused grooves, Naarm/Melbourne-based poet and freestyle virtuoso Nico Lim turns philosophy into rhythm, exploring how money, technology and ego have become the new myths of our age.
For the unacquainted, Nico’s path to music began in an unexpected silence. While living in a remote Colombian jungle, a lung infection left him unable to speak for a month, a pause that redirected his creative voice toward poetry.
From that stillness came his collection ‘The Silent World That Won’t Stop Talking’, which went on to raise funds for the Fred Hollows Foundation and set the stage for a new kind of artistic expression.
Once a librarian and professional copywriter, Nico left behind the nine-to-five to pursue poetry full-time. What began as freestyling outside a local IGA has grown into a fast-rising journey that’s taken him from the streets to the TEDx Melbourne stage. Through his performances, workshops and open mics, he continues to use poetry and music as tools for connection, community and shared meaning.
Performing as Flash Poetry, he merges freestyle rap, spoken word and live instrumentation into a project where rhythm meets reflection and intellect meets emotion. Eschewing ego and filler, his words move with purpose, confronting modern life’s absurdities through sharp wit, depth and empathy. He’s already shown this with a handful of releases leading up to his debut album release, including the track ‘Every Ism is a Wasm’, an incisive social commentary paired with a comical accompanying music video – watch here.
Now, sharing the title track ‘Reality, Now’, Flash Poetry offers another glimpse of his forthcoming debut album. Exploring humanity’s endless pursuit of pleasure at all costs, the record collides the ancient with the hyper-modern, blending hip-hop, jazz and spoken word into a portrait of a world searching for meaning. If the album is a mirror held up to society’s contradictions, then its title track is the first clear reflection.
A meditation on money and the hunger for transcendence in a culture that worships convenience, ‘Reality, Now’ unfolds with a smooth, downtempo groove. Mellow guitar lines, floaty keys and simmering percussion create a daydream-like space where Nico’s intricate lyricism moves with precision and purpose. His flow sits between philosopher and poet, deliberate and fluid, tracing modern anxieties with cool intensity.
‘Reality, Now’ arrives on Friday, October 31, with the whole record to follow on November 28.

Cedarsmoke Paint the Emotional Spectrum on New Album ‘Under The Rainbow’
Album ‘Under The Rainbow’ Out October 31
Cedarsmoke return with their third album ‘Under The Rainbow’, a record that finds colour in every emotion and emotion in every colour. Out Friday 31st October, the Brisbane/Meanjin indie-folk/rock band reveal a body of work that traces the full arc of life’s cycles with both curiosity and grace.
‘Under The Rainbow’ is a study in cycles, tracing the emotional spectrum through a series of colour-driven vignettes. Each song represents a distinct shade and psychological state, exploring themes of mortality, change and renewal, revealing how beauty and despair coexist within the same hue.
Recorded at Incremental Studios with long-time collaborator Cam Smith, the album drifts between intimacy and disarray, grounding its reflection in acoustic guitars and piano while colouring the edges with electronic loops, modular synths and washed-out effects. Speaking on the album, Jon Cloumassis states:
“‘Under The Rainbow’ is a concept album that interprets the emotional spectrum of colour through the lens of colour psychology. It marks our most ambitious step yet, blending organic instruments with electronic textures to create a palette as diverse and fluid as the colours it represents.”
Spanning ten songs, ‘Under The Rainbow’ charts the emotional spectrum one colour at a time. Across its shifting palette, the record moves between delicate balladry and restless indie rock, mirroring the emotional contrasts at its centre.
It begins in black with ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’, a sardonic reflection on mortality that sets the tone for the album’s fascination with life’s extremes. ‘Kicking Drugs’ follows in orange, pulsing with renewed energy through warped guitars and electronic beats, while ‘Picasso Blue’ descends into a melancholic haze inspired by Picasso’s Blue Period and the artists who found clarity in sorrow.
The middle section deepens the record’s introspection. ‘Shut Your Eyes and See’ drifts through green serenity before erupting into a Beatles-like collapse, and ‘Madame Psychosis’ burns red with devotion and rebirth, Tamala Wright’s voice carrying the song’s tender gravity. ‘Going Under’ then wrestles with belief and idolatry, fusing distorted guitars and electronic loops into something both anxious and hypnotic.
At the heart of the album, the title track ‘Under The Rainbow’ gathers these colours into one sweeping vision. ‘Something Over Nothing’ glows in yellow, choosing chaos over stillness, before ‘Be Here Now’ stretches into a meditative odyssey of loss and renewal. The cycle resolves with ‘Water’, pure and white, a song of birth that lets the record exhale in peace.
Almost a decade in and three albums deep, Cedarsmoke have built a catalogue defined by wry observation, poetic restraint and a fascination with the quiet corners of ordinary life. What began as a vehicle for Jon Cloumassis’s storytelling has grown into a band with its own gravitational pull, drawing fragments of heartbreak and wonder into something bruised but beautiful.
Out Friday 31st October, ‘Under The Rainbow’ completes a full circle of colour and sound, finding light in darkness, grace in uncertainty, and beauty in every shade between.

Favourite Kid Turn Life’s Stumbles into Strength on ‘Setback’
Single Out Friday, October 24 | Album ‘Two Cent Journal’ Out Friday November 21
Favourite Kid charge forward with another sunny release with their new single ‘Setback’. Brimming with bold country-pop energy and sibling charm, the Queensland trio turn life’s hurdles into fuel, delivering an anthem about finding strength in the stumble.
Following their recently released ‘Eyes on the Road’, ‘Setback’ arrives ahead of their long-awaited debut album ‘Two Cent Journal’, set for release on Friday, November 21, a collection that captures the band’s heart, humour and hard-won optimism in full stride.
Built on a foundation of full-bodied booming acoustic guitar, a thumping kick drum and hand percussion that claps in unison, ‘Setback’ emerges as a burst of optimism. Layered harmonies elevate the chorus into an anthemic chant, while Ethan Roberts’ playful, heartfelt vocal delivers the song’s message with charm and conviction. Equal parts country-folk and pop polish, it’s a track that turns adversity into momentum, reminding us that every stumble can spark another step forward.
Speaking on the single, Ethan shares: “‘Setback’ is all about the trials and challenges we come up against when we’re working to reach our goals. It’s a reminder that every journey brings obstacles that might slow you down or knock you off track, but those moments are all part of the ride. You won’t get anywhere if you don’t get back on.”
With that same spark at its core, their debut record ‘Two Cent Journal’ captures the trio’s heart, humour and honesty. Led by Ethan Roberts, whose lived experience with autism brings a rare depth of perspective and emotional clarity to his songwriting, the album reflects on life’s lessons, mental health and perseverance.
Across its tracks, the siblings share stories of growth and recovery, always with the sense that even in life’s detours, there’s a song worth singing. Set for release on Friday, November 21, the record finds Favourite Kid at their most open and assured, turning lived experience into something both deeply human and joyfully uplifting.
‘Setback’ is out everywhere now, a bright reminder that every stumble can be the start of something stronger.

WATCH LIVE PERFORMANCE VIDEO OF POWERFUL NEW SINGLE “THE WORLD’S GONE WRONG” HERE
Three-time Grammy Award winner Lucinda Williams confronts America’s socio-political chaos head-on with her forthcoming album World’s Gone Wrong (out January 23rd via Highway 20 Records).
World’s Gone Wrong is a raw and unapologetic set of songs that were written and recorded with a sense of urgency during the spring of 2025. The album opens with the powerful title track, featuring Brittney Spencer, which speaks to the plight of the working class during these turbulent times, and the resiliency to move forward with the underlying plea of “come on baby we gotta stay strong” in the chorus.
WATCH THE LIVE PERFORMANCE VIDEO OF ‘THE WORLD’S GONE WRONG’
Throughout nine original tracks, Williams offers songs that do not just chronicle our times but challenge us to rise above them. A timely cover of Bob Marley’s “So Much Trouble In The World” features a captivating duet with the incomparable Mavis Staples. The bluesy “How Much Did You Get For Your Soul” revisits the spiritual reckoning of Williams’ celebrated 2020 release Good Souls Better Angel. “Freedom Speaks” is a soul-stirring anthem that personifies liberty as a voice rising against oppression and apathy warning us of the dangers of complacency in the face of injustice.
The album closes with the deeply moving “We’ve Come Too Far to Turn Around,” featuring Norah Jones on piano and harmony vocals. The hymn-like track is rooted in struggle and redemption while acknowledging the challenge to maintain the fortitude and spiritual conviction needed when turning back is not an option. Jones’ and Williams’ emotive vocals blend seamlessly, offering a breathtaking finale to an essential work for these times.
World’s Gone Wrong serves as a wake-up call and a battle cry, finding beauty, grit, and grace in a world on edge. The album reaffirms Williams’ place as one of the most vital and uncompromising voices in American music.
World’s Gone Wrong was co-produced by Tom Overby and longtime Williams’ collaborator Ray Kennedy, who recorded and mixed the album at his Room & Board Studio in Nashville, TN.

LECIA LOUISE ‘REEPERBAHN BLUES’ (SINGLE)
This song is inspired by a true story of survival and circumstance on the road in Europe.
Australian blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Lecia Louise is set to release her new rocking blues single, “Reeperbahn Blues”, on the 14th of October 2025 available on all major streaming platforms. This is a song from her much anticipated album, ‘Strike to Ignite’, to be released in 2026,
The track is a raw and high-energy blues rock number, born out of a chaotic night in Hamburg’s infamous Reeperbahn district, the city’s red-light hub known for its nightlife, neon lights, and wild unpredictability. A place where The Beatles cut their teeth playing night in and night out.
Lecia wrote “Reeperbahn Blues” after a harrowing experience while touring Europe early in her career. She was playing bass and guitar with a band called Train Wreck, who had a short residency gig on the notorious strip. After an exhausting day on the road, Lecia rushed to soundcheck, unknowingly leaving a stash of cash and some personal belongings in the tour van.
“Just before we went on stage, the singer told me the van had been broken into,” Lecia recalls. “My stomach sank — I knew immediately that the thieves would have found my stash. But, I had to get up there, perform, and give my all, while knowing I’d probably been completely cleaned out.”
After the show, her fears were confirmed: her cash, along with an iPhone and an underwater camera gifted for her birthday, were gone. The next morning, sitting on a curb eating a €1 cheeseburger with the last of her pocket change, Lecia began writing what would become “Reeperbahn Blues”.
“This song came from a place of sheer exhaustion, heartbreak, and disappointment in human — but also determination. It’s about the tough moments you face as a touring musician, far from home, trying to push through when everything seems against you” says Lecia.
With her signature fiery guitar work and soulful vocals, Lecia captures both the chaos of that night and the resilience it took to keep going. “Reeperbahn Blues” is more than just a song
— it’s a piece of Lecia’s journey as an independent artist on the international circuit.

ALEIA Shares Shattering Debut EP ‘Public Humiliation’
EP Out Thursday, November 6
Perth/Boorloo songwriter ALEIA has unveiled her debut EP ‘Public Humiliation’, a body of work that captures the bittersweet aftermath of love with rare honesty and grace. Layering delicate folk textures with dream-pop ambience, ALEIA reflects on the messiness of heartbreak and the hardening that comes from being so exposed.
It was just this May that ALEIA made her debut, introducing her unmistakable voice through a series of deeply personal singles that have quickly shown the depth of her songwriting. Her first release, ‘Had Your Fun’, arrived as a haunting, indie/alt-pop number led by the piano that peeled back the layers of post-breakup denial and self-deception.
It was followed by ‘Pretty When I Cry’, a gut-wrenching ballad built on soft guitar, sparse percussion, flourishes of delicate electric guitar and layers of harmonies, capturing the desperation of loving someone who cannot meet you halfway.
Then came ‘Public Humiliation’, the title track released in October, exposing the messy and often humiliating side of modern love. Built on a ghostly guitar and layered vocals, the track unfolds like a confession, delicate yet deliberate.
These songs form the opening half of the EP, leading into the devastatingly tender ‘Holy Water’ and its raw accompanying live version. Like it was recorded in an empty cathedral, the spacious arrangement features warm piano, softly bowed strings, carefully layered guitars, and a haunting choir that surrounds ALEIA in aching harmony. The choir’s body percussion anchors the song’s slow build, giving the track a heartbeat as the lingering lyrics, “Holy Water, Devil’s mouth, you could only spit me out”, are chanted to close the EP out.
Across its five tracks, ALEIA lays bare the fragile balance between love and self-worth, confronting the humiliation that lingers beneath heartache and the grief that comes with it all. ALEIA shares:
“‘Public Humiliation’ is an EP I wrote after being jaded with love. I was newly single with my frontal lobe fully developed and realising I had only experienced toxic long-term relationships, painful situationships, and a nightmarish uncommitted life of casual dating. I want people to find comfort in this album the next time they find themselves anxiously attached to a situationship who isn’t messaging them, after a breakup with a narcissistic ex, or when single life has turned sour.”
An EP made to accompany those late-night hours of loneliness, ‘Public Humiliation’ (produced by Dylan Ollivierre) is a record of heartbreak and healing. It belongs to the long drive home after everything has fallen apart, shattering yet strangely soothing. Decorated by ALEIA’s intimate voice, shy guitar and bedroom-folk softness, what emerges is an unflinching debut that turns emotional wreckage into a place of shared vulnerability.
ALEIA’s debut EP ‘Public Humiliation’ is out now. Catch her launching the release at Perth’s four5nine (Rosemount Hotel) on Saturday, November 8, with special guests Sophie Lilah, Clare Perrott and Elianie.

LORD OF THE LOST Collab With INFECTED RAIN on New Single “Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?” New Album, OPVS NOIR Vol. 2, Out December 12, 2025 via Napalm Records
Touring Australia in February
LORD OF THE LOST have revealed the third single cut from the upcoming new full-length, OPVS NOIR Vol. 2, out on December 12, 2025 via Napalm Records! On “Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?”, LORD OF THE LOST team up with INFECTED RAIN, adding an extra edge to the genre-fluid masters’ opulence. With Lena Scissorhands and Chris Harms, two of the most recognizable singers in the genre meet to create multi-layered soundscapes out of gentle clean vocals, powerful growls, and melancholic moods.
Following the recent success of last month’s co-headline tour with FEUERSCHWANZ, LORD OF THE LOST is currently in the middle of a tour of the UK and Ireland. Next year, the band will tour across the USA, Canada and Australia, before returning to Europe for the recently announced ‘TOVR NOIR 2026’, with shows in 19 countries.
Chris Harms on “Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?”: “It was a great challenge to create a love song with such a powerful and positive message, yet with such a dark title and an even more sinister instrumental. And working with Lena, her versatile voice and her intense charisma, from the first idea to the final result, was a great journey both musically and personally!”
Lena Scissorhands adds: “I’m incredibly honored and excited to have been invited to feature on this song with Lord Of The Lost. I loved every minute of working on it, and I think the collaboration turned out very unique and its darkness is just so beautiful. I can’t wait for the world to hear it!”
Check out the official music video for “Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?”
Following their enchantingly colorful BLOOD & GLITTER, which earned them participation in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 and a #1 chart entry in their native Germany, LORD OF THE LOST reinvent themselves yet again with OPVS NOIR. With OPVS NOIR Vol. 2, another 11 heartfelt songs join the three-part cycle, tying seamlessly into Vol. 1. With OPVS NOIR Vol. 2, the band delves deeper into their melancholic take on unravelling their innermost selves, adding a new hopeful layer to the wonderfully dark panorama already presented in OPVS NOIR Vol. 1.
Get your copy of OPVS NOIR Vol. 2
Opening with dark yet catchy “The Fall From Grace”, LORD OF THE LOST immediately showcases their way with grand ballroom choruses weaved into grave melodies that will continue to sit enthroned on all the varied tracks until the last note of the ballad “Sharp Edges”. Joining in are guests ranging from scene favorites to top-tier musicians outside the metal genre. First up is INFECTED RAIN’s Lena Scissorhands, who refines the pitch-black “Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?” with the full range of her fierce, yet fragile vocals. Similarly, Anna Brunner of rising melodic metal stars LEAGUE OF DISTORTION and symphonic metal band EXIT EDEN lends her energetic voice to “Please Break The Silence”, inducing goosebumps – every talent is an important scene in OPVS NOIR’s grimly colorful movie for the ears. Unexpectedly, yet fittingly, Finnish rap artist KÄÄRIJÄ, runner-up at Eurovision 2023, turns “Raveyard” into a dancefloor with a mix of industrial, gothic, and Finnish rap—as if heralding the dawn of a new genre. The most moving collaboration is the opulent “What Have We Become”, in which experimental artist IAMX meets Chris Harms for a cathartic duet.

TAILGUNNER Rising British Heavy Metal Band Announces New Album, Midnight Blitz, Produced by Metal Legend K. K. Downing
Out February 6, 2026 via Napalm Records
First Single, “Midnight Blitz”, Revealed
Carrying the torch of NWOBHM are TAILGUNNER! Recently signed to Napalm Records, the young British band announces their upcoming sophomore record, Midnight Blitz, out February 6, 2026. Drawing heavily from classic heavy metal sounds, TAILGUNNER have found support in the very heroes they follow: after making a strong impression supporting KK’s Priest, legendary guitarist K.K. Downing went on to produce Midnight Blitz. The dynamic album now pushes the genre forward just like its influences once did, with TAILGUNNER always crafting their sound and building on what they have, whilst never compromising on what they started with.
Along with the announcement and fittingly introduced by air raid sirens comes the first new song, title track “Midnight Blitz”! Blitzkrieg drums and screaming twin lead guitars make the 80s come alive again – a powerful harbinger of what earned TAILGUNNER K.K. Downing’s rare endorsement to begin with. This young band from the home country of metal is one to watch!
TAILGUNNER about “Midnight Blitz”:
“Whilst touring our debut album, we shared stages with members of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Accept – we watched, we learned, and we put it all down on tape. The aim behind ‘Midnight Blitz’ was to craft an all time album opener, like ‘Aces High’, ‘Painkiller’, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘Hells Bells’. Everyone remembers the first time you hear the opening track on an album that changes everything. The hair stands up on the back of your neck and you know from this moment onwards, nothing will ever be the same. The launch sequence on the next era of TAILGUNNER has been hit. ‘Masters of the skies, never call it quits. Time to do or die, we are the Midnight Blitz!’”
K.K. Downing on TAILGUNNER:
“TAILGUNNER is a band we should have seen emerge years ago from the UK. They personify everything that is heavy metal. They are loud and proud, and totally descended from everyone in metal that has gone before – their energy and rawness, together with their brand of metal, incorporates all of the godfathers and much more. Maiden, Priest, Motörhead, Def Leppard – the list is endless. The band has a youthful freshness and a uniqueness that will no doubt elevate them to being a true Metal favourite of the fans.”
Watch The Official Music Video for “Midnight Blitz”
Midnight Blitz is classic Heavy Metal without being pastiche. This is a band for the here and now – not just worshipping at the altar, but determined to stand upon it as the Metal Gods of a whole new generation of headbangers. TAILGUNNER prove their skills effortlessly, carving themselves out as Heavy Metal’s future and grabbing the torch from the legends themselves. Catchy hooks, killer riffs, and appealing to every heavy metal fan – join K.K. Downing and discover your new heroes now!
TAILGUNNER about Midnight Blitz:
“Like phantoms of the clouds, the Midnight Blitz screams silently through the air. Descending on their prey, a Heavy Metal militia striking at the speed of sound. Only blood can run! Whilst touring our debut album, we were described by one roadie as ‘The bastard child of Maiden & Priest’ and that became the ethos for our new album Midnight Blitz. Just like our fore bearers, we are determined to push forward, always crafting our sound and building on what we have, whilst never compromising on what we started with – Pure Heavy Metal! We are not just worshipping at the altar of those who have gone before, but determined to stand upon it and be the heroes for a whole new generation! We played over 100 shows touring our debut album, sharing the stages with some of the most legendary names in Metal while paying our dues in blood, sweat, tears and endless nights out on the road. Everything we learned is on display here, packed into 10 tracks in what we feel can be a true, essential TAILGUNNER album. Produced by none other than the Metal guitar God K.K. Downing, working closely with K.K. during this entire process has been the ride of a lifetime and you can hear those touches of a bonafide Metal God throughout this album!”

The ambitious quintet fires with more precision than ever before on 10 versatile tracks. An air raid siren stands as harbinger of the onslaught from the powerful title track, “Midnight Blitz”, in which blitzkrieg drums and screaming twin lead guitars serve as a powerful sign of what is to come. The epic “Tears In Rain” showcases frontman Craig Cairns’ broad vocal skills and the band’s ability to deliver huge, infectious choruses.
“Follow Me In Death” boasts TAILGUNNER’s Maiden-esque approach to grandiose, heavy melodies, while ‘The Lost Boys’-inspired “Dead Until Dark” turns up the 80s vibes full throttle. With “Barren Lands and Seas of Red”, the young British band prove they have epics in their arsenal, continuing to intertwine catchy choruses with manic, thrash tinged riffs before letting audiences catch their breaths during the modern classic ballad “War In Heaven” – goosebumps guaranteed! The following “Blood Sacrifice” ups the tempo significantly and offers numerous opportunities to raise your fist and shout along, while “Night Raids” and “Eye Of The Storm” add triumphant notes, respectively, preparing for the grand finale. The epic, Power Metal feel of “Eulogy” wraps Midnight Blitz up masterfully, shifting from gently orchestrated melodies and memorable vocals before exploding into Speed Metal fireworks.
SUBWAY TO SALLY and SCHANDMAUL Team Up to Release “Räuber und Narren”
In December, SUBWAY TO SALLY will once again host their annual Eisheilige Nacht concerts. In celebration together with this year’s tour partners SCHANDMAUL, they have released a brand new collab single, “Räuber und Narren”! But this is more than just a song: as a collaboration between two of the most influential bands in German medieval rock, “Räuber und Narren”, which translates to “Outlaws and Fools”, is a gripping anthem that celebrates both parties – SUBWAY TO SALLY as robbers and SCHANDMAUL as fools – as well as their shared history. In dialogue, the storytellers self-deprecatingly explore the relevance of solidarity and the power of being different – untamed and powerful as ever.
“Räuber und Narren” is not only available as a digital track, but also as a strictly limited edition 12″ single in the color MARBLED GOLD BLACK, which will be released on December 15, 2025. Pre-sales start now, so get your copy while supplies last!
SUBWAY TO SALLY about “Räuber und Narren”:
“SCHANDMAUL and SUBWAY TO SALLY have been companions and close friends for decades. We are overjoyed to have finally put a joint tour together this year. It was a matter of honor that we wanted to write a song together. We think ‘Räuber und Narren’ is an anthem that unites not only the bands, but also their fans.”
SCHANDMAUL adds:
“There’s clearly a shared DNA between SUBWAY TO SALLY and SCHANDMAUL fans – and not just the fans, but the musicians themselves. So what could be more natural than a joint tour? This year, we’re finally bringing this project to life, close to our hearts. Taking Eisheilige Nacht as the perfect opportunity, we’ve also created a joint song: ‘Räuber und Narren’ – a gift to our fans and to ourselves, celebrating the very DNA of minstrels!”
