Sydney-based guitarist, singer-songwriter TASH WOLF is gearing up for a standout appearance at the Sydney Guitar Show, performing on Saturday, March 7 of the 2 day event (March 7 & 8 ) and she couldn’t be more excited about stepping in front of a room full of passionate guitar lovers. Speaking with Australian Musician editor Greg Phillips, Wolf described the performance as a chance to fully showcase her versatility, combining vocals, instrumental pieces, and original songs, while feeding off the energy of a highly engaged music community.
For the show, Wolf will be joined by an accomplished band and although it’s her first time performing at a guitar show, she’s relishing the opportunity to connect with fellow musicians, explore new gear, and immerse herself in what she describes as an exciting and growing Sydney guitar culture.
A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she completed a Bachelor of Music specialising in jazz, Wolf credits her formal education with shaping both her musical approach and her broader values as an artist. Her playing draws from a wide pool of influences across blues, rock, and jazz, citing John Mayer, Gary Clark Jr., Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Joe Pass, and George Benson as key inspirations.
A self-confessed guitar collector with around 20 instruments, Wolf considers herself a “Strat girl at heart,” while also holding a deep connection to her Ibanez AS200 and a strong admiration for her Strandberg headless guitar, praising its ergonomics, innovation, and tonal flexibility. When it comes to tone, she balances classic pedal setups with modern digital effects, embracing MIDI-controlled rigs that allow her to focus on performance rather than constant sound changes, an approach she’s keen to experiment with further at the Guitar Show.
Beyond her solo work, Wolf has built an impressive résumé as a session guitarist, performing internationally across Southeast Asia and sharing stages with major artists including Bryan Adams and Jimmy Barnes, a surreal opportunity that came about via a direct Instagram message from Adams himself.
Looking ahead, Wolf is deep in the writing process, developing a body of work that may evolve from an EP into a full-length record. She describes the new material as modern, guitar-driven, and melody-focused, grounded in strong songwriting and authenticity. Fans attending the Sydney Guitar Show will get an early taste, with Wolf set to debut unreleased songs during her performance.
As for the bigger picture, Wolf’s goals remain refreshingly grounded. “Authenticity” is the guiding principle, sharing her story, trusting the process, and continuing to grow as an artist. With new music, live dates, and international opportunities on the horizon, Tash Wolf’s appearance at the Sydney Guitar Show feels like a timely snapshot of an artist very much on the rise.
