Today, The Avalanches announce their return to Australian stages, with six performances across the country in February and March 2027. For more than 25 years, the Australian group has been one of the most influential and original acts in contemporary electronic music, globally redefining what could be achieved with sampling and collage to create a body of work that has resonated around the world.
Presented by Takumi, the tour will see the Melbourne-formed band perform at Perth Festival, Adelaide’s Hindley St Music Hall, Live At The Gardens in Melbourne, On The Banks in Brisbane and round out the run at the iconic Sydney Opera House Forecourt in Sydney. The announcement comes as The Avalanches enter a particularly prolific new chapter, with their fourth studio album No Bad Memories set for release on October 16 after a run of new singles released throughout 2026.
The band have already shared ‘Together’ with Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss, ‘Every Single Weekend’ with Jamie xx, ‘Blue Shadows’ with Karen O, ‘Can’t Get Over Losing You’ with Portraits of Tracy and most recently ‘Far Away’ with John Glacier and Khadija Al Hanafi.
Alongside the new music, The Avalanches have been increasingly active on the live circuit, appearing at Primavera Sound Barcelona and performing shows internationally, including two sold-out shows at London’s Roundhouse, where they played to more than 6,000 fans across the two nights, before returning to Australia for a series of intimate appearances. In Sydney, a surprise Club 77 show became one of the band’s most talked-about recent appearances, with fans lining the street outside the tiny Darlinghurst venue in the hope of getting inside.
Joining The Avalanches on the tour will be HAAi, the Australian-born, London-based artist whose work moves freely between club music, experimentation and leftfield electronic sounds. Her dynamic, tempo-shifting sets have taken her everywhere from Coachella and Glastonbury to Movement and Body Movements, while her new 10-track club record, DIGITiSE, lands October 9 via Mute Records. The album picks up the thread of 2025’s HUMANiSE, drawing on the energy and unpredictability of HAAi’s all-night DJ sets.
The Avalanches’ No Bad Memories arrives October 16 and finds the band once again digging into the forgotten sounds and fragments of everyday life. Inspired by the strange relationship between advertising, technology and memory, the album turns old jingles, start-up sounds, obsolete hardware and audio logos into the raw material for a new Avalanches world.
As Chater explains, the record began with “rhythmic experiments using the sonic leftovers and hallmarks of the technologies we grew up with”, with recordings of hard drives, computer hardware and forgotten technologies becoming part of the album’s sonic palette.
Like every Avalanches record, No Bad Memories is built around an extraordinary cast of collaborators, including Karen O, Jamie xx, John Glacier, Rivers Cuomo, Panda Bear, Barry Can’t Swim, Ryoji Ikeda, Haruomi Hosono, Mike Patton, Portraits of Tracy and more.
