ZACHARY LEO: THE ‘FEELS’ EP INTERVIEW

As Australian Musician editor Greg Phillips tells Melbourne-based funk, rock, and soul artist Zachary Leo in our recent video interview, for such a young and vibrant local artist, musically he possesses such a wise old soul. While Zachary sites modern day soul and funk artists such as Jamiroquai  and Red Hot Chili Peppers as his main influences, his ‘Feels’ also conjure the R&B spirit of those that came much longer before. On his four track debut EP titled ‘Feels’, Zachary uses classic Fender Rhodes keys sounds, tasteful and heartfelt guitar licks on his 78′ American Standard Strat and lands a passionate vocal on top to deliver his top shelf brand of Melbourne-made grooves. Written and produced from his home in the South East, lyrically his songs speak of heartbreak, self-destruction, and love.

Pre-Covid Zachary and his band had been gigging hard, developing into a very tight unit. Although disappointed at losing that momentum this year, he looks forward to a brighter 2021, where he can continue to showcase his music live. Check out our interview below.
